What will the 2021 Miami Dolphins Offense Look Like?

#1, Tua Tagovailoa is the linchpin to our season. There are so many other variables to our team’s success but if our 2nd year QB doesn’t improve significantly from last season, it will be hard for the rest of the team to get further than our 10 win season and for us to get a playoff berth. The 6 guys pictured above, WR DeVante Parker, TE Mike Gesicki, WR Jaylen Waddle, WR Will Fuller, TE Hunter Long and RB Myles Gaskin will also play a huge role in the offense going forward. TE Mike Gesicki is in his final year of his contract so he will be looking to have a big season. Our #6 draft pick this year WR Jaylen Waddle will be an immediate impact player both on offense and special teams as a top notch return man. Our #81 draft pick was TE Hunter Long from Boston College. A bit of surprise this one because I felt we had pretty good depth at TE with Gesicki, Smythe, Shaheen, Myarick and Carter but we probably intend on using multiple TE sets often. Those TE sets put the defense in a tough spot because it can be a power running formation as well as a receiving mismatch with a bunch of 6’6 250 guys that can run that need to be covered. Pair that with a burner like Fuller or Waddle who can take one to the house and big plays can happen.

Let’s get back to Tua. This guy is hungry to be a top player, to be the best he can be. He has been doing extensive weight training, it’s already paid dividends and Tua looks much thicker on his lower half, a huge boon for a QB. He looks bigger on top as well and his arms are certainly stronger as well. Besides the weight training he’s been working diligently on balancing exercises and drills. Better balance helps make a repeatable throwing motion easier and helps distribute the arm strength better. You can question his skill all you want, but you can’t question his heart, desire and sense of responsibility one drop. Once again, Tua’s success will be paramount to the teams success. In addition to Tua doing all he can to better this season, The Dolphins kept up their end of the deal by drafting OT Liam Eichenberg. I can’t tell you for sure that he will be our RT day one but if I were to be a betting man, I’d lay down some cash on that being the case. I do believe our offensive line will be LT Austin Jackson, LG Solomon Kindley, C Matt Skura, RG Robert Hunt and then RT Liam Eichenberg. Those two mountains in the middle, Kindley 6’3 337 and Robert Hunt 6’5 325 have some work to do as far as pass protection, but in my eyes, last year’s O-line was better than I’ve seen in some time. I expect that to improve with a true offseason, training camp and OTA’s.

I’m not going to continue to discuss the need for a RB. I’m in wait and see mode and I see no reason to continue to dwell on an issue that may not be an issue. Other teams do well with undrafted and late round draft picks at the RB position, and we already hit with 2019 7th RD pick Myles Gaskin. If this year’s 7th RD pick Gerrid Doaks shares the same success Gaskin had last season we’ll be just fine at RB. The RB by committe approach ensures fresher legs and also eliminates the worry of relying too much on one player and then trying to change the offense once that player goes down. I think at least 3-4 of these guys will get a fair amount of carries and some weeks one will be the feature back and the next week we’ll change it up to a different rotation. That makes it harder for opposing defenses to game plan against us.

On paper, we have so much more talent at the skill positions at WR and TE it’s actually crazy. Health can and will be a factor as we have a few that unfortunately haven’t been able to stay whole for an entire season. Still, with DeVante Parker, Will Fuller and Jaylen Waddle and then Mike Gesicki and Hunter Long at TE, that’s a lot of talent to cover. Parker always difficult on 50/50 balls thrown his way, Fuller can easily take the top off the defense and make big plays deep downfield. Waddle can do it all, turn short passes into big gains and if teams start coming up on him aggressively, he will make them pay with double moves that leave them in the dust. If teams are forced to double cover Waddle, Fuller or Parker, Gesicki will be a pain one on one against most defensive players. Add in another pass catching TE like Hunter Long and it almost seems unfair. Truth is though, it all starts in the trenches and our O-line will not only need to open holes for Gaskin and company but protect Tua Tagovailoa too. We know Tua was conservative last season, much to the detriment of the offense. He took the easy quick completions often instead of waiting or sometimes even recognizing and seeing players getting open just a few yards further downfield. If the O-line is stout, that will give Tua more confidence to let things develop. Or, the new dual OC’s of Eric Studesville and George Godsey will have to be more creative and move Tua around, who by the way, throws pretty well while on the move.

I look forward to seeing this offense get to work, it’s going to be fun. I’m already quite excited at what we can do and I can’t wait to see them hit the field. On the other hand, if I said it was the offense I look forward to seeing most I’d be lying. I really do want to see the Tua offense in year two, but it’s our defense with Jaelan Phillips, Benardrick McKinney and our most excellent secondary that I wish to see most. I think our defense can be special, one of the top defensive units in the NFL. Josh Allen won’t be so damn cocky and smirky when we play him next. If we want to to get to the top of the division, we have to beat the Bills. They shellacked us, ran over and through us when it counted for us, and we need to be the ones doing the bullying next time around. I think the defense will be a big part of the reason, although much like Buffalo found out, give a QB a great weapon like Stefon Diggs and the offense will be better. Well, we gave Tua the upgrades on offense and now along with our top defense, the QB has to improve with the defense.

GO DOLPHINS!!!

I might have to watch some Angels games when this Ohtani character is pitching. I was kind of late to the party on him, but these numbers are crazy.

15 HRs as a batter, and 7 games as a starting pitcher with an ERA of 2.72. WTF? Is this the 1920s?

Fucking page turn. From the last page.

Kong is correct. If a cabal in the military decided to overthrow the government it would be a prelude to civil war. The government would have to do something extreme like say they were suspending the Constitution and all civil rights to get the military to act in a unified manner.

The extreme, right or left, live in a fantasy world. Trump is not coming back and America isn’t going to become a socialist state overnight.

None of that is to say that we’re not heading for another war. We are. The tribalism being pushed – BLM, LGBT, BIPOC – will be what gets it started. As a country, we have lost our way. We’ve allowed teachers to raise our children and they are teaching social justice instead of history. You can’t correct history, only not repeat it. America was built on inclusion, at least in aspiration if not always in practice.

Oh…one more thing – the Democratic Party is the party of supporting crime and criminals. Just going to leave that there.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Forgot – Anybody who voted for Biden voted to allow crime.

The extreme left and right bug me a lot. Yet they get a lot of face time these days. Guess the middle just ain’t exciting.

Dang, if I’d just got my above baseball post in just a bit sooner, the beginning of the new page would have started with “Kong is correct”.

Ahh well, story of my life…almost, nearly, and so close. 🤣🤣

Killed a “Fatty” water moccasin this morning in the back yard!
    —————–
What did you do to kill it, Wyoming?

I only need to be concerned about rattlers and coppers here in PA. Those cottonmouths are a whole lot more venomous than these in PA.

    • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

I piss around with rattlers and coppers over here, but I’m not sure I’d piss around with a water moccasin.

They’re no more venomous, just more aggressive.

      Would the military do it?

I fished there a few times and there are snakes everywhere. I was fishing on the shore and I had to keep my eyes open constantly to the point where I said I’m done unless I’m in a boat. Never saw anything like it.

And that’s where the lawyers come in, SMH.

There is a duty to protect this country from both foreign and DOMESTIC threats. So when one looks at it as such, it’s NOT shredding the Constitution.

The domestic threat right now is the current regime being in bed with China. It’s not too difficult to figure that out. What’s more, we can’t afford what Biden has already done… and now he’s proposing a $6T spending bill?

America will never recover from as much, and those with brains realize as much.

We may not like our political landscape these days but there are lots of branches to our government before a presidential administration or rogue leader can bypass the constitution.

For the most part, I agree… but there is a need of lawyers in some cases… especially when the law runs foul on you.

  8. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

    Seriously – domestic threats:

TSA creating and enforcing, through civil penalties, a mask mandate. TSA has no authority to create laws and penalties under ATSA which is the law that governs TSA. Any regulatory rules that are created have to go through the rule making process.

CDC creating laws period. CDC is an advisory agency, no more.

Government enforcement of racially biased laws.

    Government non-enforcement of civil laws.

    Government non-enforcement of border controls.

Governing by Presidential fiat, executive orders. Executive orders are not law, only direction to government agencies. They cannot be legally enforced on citizens.

“Executive orders are not law, only direction to government agencies. They cannot be legally enforced on citizens.” — disagree on that, says a man that tried to finagle more than a few regulations put out by the Federal agencies. And those are a step below EOs.

      • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Regulations written by agencies are different than EO. EO are constitutionally limited. Want to debate the Delegation Doctrine?

M13 — is that big enough a threat to justify a coup?
    —————-
I think in the context of what started this dialogue — Steve posting what he had earlier — that these certain counties in certain states being audited… it would not be a coup. It would demonstrate that a ‘soft coup’ by the democrats had occurred via election fraud.

In such a case, there would be no “coup” if justice is served, after the fact (soft coup).

Let the process play out, and we’ll see what happens.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Coup means overthrowing the government by force of arms.

The election is done, certified and the results in firm place. They want to audit some counties then they do. Won’t change a thing. You do know Biden got 7 million more votes?

Elections in 2022 (GOP probably wins the House) and 2024.

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Bro, you’re missing the point Steve was trying to make with the video he posted. WHAT IF these audits show that Donald Trump was — in fact — re-elected as the president?

Have you any idea what that would mean? It would mean that the so-called “coup” you speak of had already occurred, only in a soft version by fraud.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

As far as I know of the the only audit is in Arizona’s Maricopa County. They had 3 recounts before and a group of Trump state Senators hired a firm run by a guy who had had said the election was stolen to run it.

If that audit says Trump won the county and the hand recounts done by the Republican election officials in the county were wrong….what am I supposed to think?

  10. Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

    Stanger,

To put it another way… there is no way Biden got more votes than 0bama. There’s something fishy going on, and everybody knows it.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“there is no way Biden got more votes than 0bama” — yet a whole lot more votes were cast. Do you think that proof of anything? Don’t like the results…. that’s fine.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Why trust the audits rather than the actual election officials?

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Y’all didn’t trust the actual election results in 2016, calling it a fraudulent election, that Russia elected Trump. The farce went on for FOUR YEARS, and audits were commissioned.

C’mon, my Brother… you can’t have it both ways, and you KNOW IT.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I completely trusted in the 2016 results. Why so you say I did not. Can only tell you what I did and do think.

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, snakes were popping up their heads out of the water off the boat basin, they were swimming in the water and they were on land. I never saw anything like that. But I’m sure those big game fish like it because they feed on them.

    • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Such is the circle of life, I suppose! Not sure I’d like being surrounded by so many snakes, though… with their heads popping up out of the water like that.

Hey, we’ve got these river eels that are bloody disgusting! Huge and nasty. Many of my fisherman friends have hooked one, thinking it was a big fish. Reeled it in, only to find a nasty eel on the hook. Oy!

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah, when I said they were popping their heads out of the water, think of it like tulips going up and down, like two dozen of them at different times. I was like WTF is going on. Then I’d see them swimming from one side to the other towards the shore I was at which was maybe a hundred feet or so because it was the short part of the reservoir before you would enter the big open water via boat. As I walked the shore a bit I saw one coiled on land at the edge of the shore and I said that’s it, I don’t know the terrain well enough or the species because some were bigger than others and didn’t look the same. It was the most snake activity I have ever seen. However I also thought, hey they’re thriving here for a reason. Lots of food sources so it was a healthy habitat.

  12. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I personally do not think Trump was re-elected and it has nothing to do with party affiliation or anything like that. He turned people off who voted for him previously.

Like I’ve said many times before, politics has become like sports. Some fans don’t like the outcome and look for bad calls, or the coach or manager should have done this or that. They can’t handle the result because they so wanted their team to win.

    • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Can’t disagree with you on the point that politics have become a sport in America… that’s just SAD. We have kids who are indoctrinated to become politically active in middle school, and they’re missing out on life… like real sports.

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

THAT is a sign of some BS that’s been going on in this country… so as to take our children away from the good times and sports… in order to indoctrinate them with political garbage (and it only goes one way).

        Let kids be kids!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I agree with that. Kids are politically indoctrinated by their parents and teachers just like the parents who live vicariously through their kids in sports. There is a place for competition and a place for kids to have fun. We’ve interwoven them at very young ages and it’s bullshit and very sad. It all comes down to that mantra that I’m right and you’re wrong, we should have won if it wasn’t for this or that. People can’t stand losing.

      On that note.

Only Congress can write law.

M13, we had those pesky water snakes in Indiana. They would scare the funk out of me all the time. I fished the river across from my house almost every day. One of those snakes got me grounded from fishing for a month. I was fishing from the bank and I always reel it all the way to the shoreline cause that is where the northern pike lay in waiting most of the time. Once, one of those snakes tried to get my spinner bait and followed it on shore. It was about 2-2.5 feet long. I pulled my closest foot away and it struck at my other sneaker. I jumped back and started smacking the shit out of it with my fishing pole. My little sister was with me and was screaming bloody murder. Somehow my spinner bait snagged it in the side and I couldn’t shake it off. I ran up on the road with it and smacked it on the pavement then slung it back to slam it down again but my line went “wha pow”! I turned around just in time to see the snake twirling like a baton flying right at my sister. It hit her in the stomach and hand and she took off running home. I think she ran a 4.2 40 right then. lol She told dad I threw a snake at her and hit her on purpose. Dad asked me about it. I got as far as “I was trying to kill it with my fishing pole, but”. I got sent to my room for the day/night and was banned from fishing for a month. lol

Yeah, btwn you and M13, that brought back that snake memory for me. One of many. But, I never came across more than one at a time unless I was actually hunting them which was another thing I got in trouble for as a kid. lol

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Within a couple of hours of being there I saw based on my memory, about two dozen snakes that were all water viable. The ones popping up and down at the shore of the boat launch were not big, maybe a nickel or a quarter sized thick around, but the three I saw swimming from one side to another were like 2-3 feet long and much thicker. The same with the one coiled up on the shore. My guess is small fish (duh), frogs, salamanders, obviously insects and rodents were abundant so they thrive there.

Right by the boat launch there was a wooden structure type bulletin with pics of what fisherman caught encased in glass. Huge muskie, pike, bass etc. So I was like fuck yeah this is awesome. Well not so much for this novice of the area. I don’t remember if the only fish I caught was a yellow perch or crappie. I fished so many areas over the years I can’t remember. But it wasn’t anything big before I left due to the snakes. LOL

    ——————————————-
Stanger, I was wondering that myself. Actually not Trump redirecting money for the wall. I was actually for that. But, how does tax payer money allocated for one thing then later get redirected to another’s pet project? Who is supposed to oversee this? I watched a presentation the other day about government waste. It was a small sample but it disgusted me. One instance where 1.6 million was allocated toward a specific study regarding autism. The entire 1.6 mil got redirected to the National Science something-or-other to be used to study lizards on treadmills to figure out why they “waddle” when they walk or run. I was like WTF? How does that happen? I just want to bitch slap the hell out of the person that made that happen. Another fucked up one was 350K to study the affects of cocaine on quail and their mating habits. I mean, who the fuck thinks this shit up? Are these people the ones who used to put firecrackers in frogs mouths when they were kids? WTF!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

The House is supposed to allocate the money. Seems at least if someone (including the president) wants to put it to a different purpose should be up to Congress.

I was holding it by it’s tail swinging it toward my sister. I was being careful, but just wanted to tease her. She turned her back to me and I thought she was going to run away so I lunged and swung it at her. Well, she didn’t run and it bit her right on the ass cheek. It didn’t latch on but left a nasty ass bruise. Yes, I got grounded for that one also. That was one of the dumbass times I deserved it. lol

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I didn’t deal with them in a confrontation, I saw them, kept my eye on them and avoided them. I never saw snakes popping their heads up out of the water 6 inches high then submerging as others would pop up. Those were the tiny snakes by the boat launch. They were there for a reason. Then as I ventured the shoreline I saw the bigger ones and said fuck this. If I was wearing long galoshes boots I would not have been as uneasy, but I wasn’t wearing those. It wasn’t summer but not cold seasons either. Probably hiking boots, socks and jeans for them to attack. It was uneasy but I did check it out for a couple of hours because I love the outdoors. But before dark I said I’m out of here.

It’s funny, I’ve been reminiscing that day because of the snake conversation. I only went there once. I did drive around looking at all the other bodies of water in the area and tried those. But it was really foreign to me and I never returned. I went back to what I knew.

He never carried himself as a President, he was always a big mouthed, smug asshole. He was voted out of office, simple as that. I voted for the asshole because I prefer his policies over Biden and more specifically the progressive Democrats who are gaining power in the party. Not everything is a conspiracy but there will always be those who choose to see it that way. More people simply came out to vote to make sure Trump didn’t get re-elected. Look, I can only speak for myself, but I found President Trump to be an extremely likable person. He stood up for the voiceless, he stood up to the corruption, and he stood up for our country.

After YEARS of the media beating us over the head with their leftist (to put it lightly) views, President Trump put them back in their place. After YEARS of the GOP being shat upon by the opposition party and their proxies, President Trump (figuratively) punched them in their mouths.

President Trump did what had become well overdue, and thus he breathed life back into the GOP and American exceptionalism. And who followed/backed him, in record numbers? Blacks, Latinos, Asians, gays, lesbians, LEOs, farmers, war vets, blue collars… not to mention MAJOR support from women, men, and white people… who became tired of the racial narratives like BLT and CRT from 0bama.

Is he polarizing? HELL NO! He was uniting the country — despite his big mouth — unlike 0bama and Biden… who purposefully sowed racial and class division.

I suppose President Trump is like Deion Sanders: ya either love him or ya hate him. Both have BIG mouths, and they both backed their talk with a job well done.

I’ll always take positive results with a BIG mouth, over negative results with a *charming* personality (see nearly all American presidents since Lincoln)… we continued to get Darth Sidious.

This Memorial Day weekend, we should focus on those who gave their very lives to protect our freedoms. I see our freedoms slowly being eroded by the new socialist Dems, but never ONCE under President Trump.

No new wars were launched under President Trump. So this Memorial Day, remember that actions speak louder than words. Give thanks to those who only live on in memory for their sacrifice via war, to protect/ensure our freedoms that the leftists are trying to take away from us as we speak.

Freedom isn’t free. REMEMBER the sacrifices our fellow countrymen made, to keep us the beacon of freedom, the world-over… and may we NEVER relinquish our role as a freedom-loving country.

Just saying you’re a Christian does not mean you’re a good person. Good morals comes from your soul, not through religion or some sort of doctrine. I’ve seen too much hypocrisy from all religions. Just like some Muslims say allahu akbar before cutting someone’s head off. What that makes it okay now?

I cannot possibly speak for all Christians, honestly. I know so-called “Christians” who are anything but true Christians.

Look, we’re all sinners… it’s in our DNA! I’m not going to put my foot up in your ass, because we’re all EQUAL as humans… and I’m not so ‘HOLY’ to tell anybody how to live their life. I hope you appreciate that about me!

That’s a HUGE no-no, my man… that’s anti-American. Be VERY careful with your hatred, Tim.

  49. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    Tim,

As a counter, people use hypocrites as a crutch for their hatred of Christianity. When it comes to moral code, the New Testament has a pretty good one. I think the biggest thing to get from people’s failings is that it’s hard for people to be good.

You don’t have to be Christian or religious to be a good person but it’s a lot easier when you have a guide that’s been around for centuries that has worked when followed.

We act like we had a code of ‘let people do their own thing as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone’. That was a load of shit and people didn’t follow that. For instance, if you didn’t wear a worthless cloth mask the past year, there wasn’t any ‘do your own thing’. If you vote a certain way, or all kinds of other examples, it’s not human nature to ‘let people do their own thing’ or for people not to be gigantic hypocrites. You are ascribing basic human flaws to a religion and it just doesn’t fit. There are bad people and hypocrites in all areas, but I like what Christian writings had to say. Jesus wasn’t a bad dude. People should try to be more like him.

  50. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Our country was not founded on faith and Christianity. It was founded to get away from it. But yes most of the early settlers were Christians. Would you like to discuss the Puritans and the witch trials?

    • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Wrong again, my friend. We wanted to get the funk away from the church of England, who DICTATED to one how to worship. Not everybody wanted to worship the Pope, ya know?

We were — in large part — founded for religious liberty. Read the Constitution.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Nope, not wrong. Some of the earliest settlers were the Puritans who settled in what is now known as Massachusetts. They reestablished the Church of England in the new world and burned people alive at the stake, mostly women, who were considered 2nd class citizens for not conforming to their doctrine. That continued even after the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and Bill of Rights. How can you be a good Christian while burning people alive, enslaving and lynching people?

Catholicism (the Pope) is another sect of Christianity. They pray in churches with icons of Jesus on the cross. You always seem to think that’s not the case as we’ve had this conversation before. It’s all about believing Jesus is the son of God. No getting around that. I was raised Catholic and once I was done with my confirmation nonsense, I was out. My Mom wanted me to do that because it was the traditional thing to do. But as I got older after being Christened as a baby, making Communion as a young child and then Confirmation as an older child, I realized how creepy it all was.

I wasn’t raised as an atheist or Satan worshiper. I realized evil existed within this ritualistic religion. So I don’t need lessons on any of this.

    ———————————————————————————————————

It’s the first one! Where does it say our country was founded on religion or specifically Christianity? It says the exact opposite. Yes you’re free to exercise your faith, but it’s not the law of the land. That’s what makes America great. Religion does not belong in politics. End of story.

Then you have a guy like Ted Cruz who ran on Judeo-Christian values. He violated the 1st amendment from the get go. Read the Constitution? I did. He didn’t and I guess you didn’t either, M13. It’s the first one!

Nope, not wrong. Some of the earliest settlers were the Puritans who settled in what is now known as Massachusetts. They reestablished the Church of England in the new world and burned people alive at the stake, mostly women, who were considered 2nd class citizens for not conforming to their doctrine…
    ————–
You are, of course, correct in that part of early American history. Yes… you were always going to have the old-guard trying to keep it “for the King/Queen”… hence burning at the stake and so many other atrocities that carried over to the New World.

We RAN from that European BS, Bro! I’d very much love to castigate a certain sect of so-called “Christianity”, but I won’t do so… but it failed my father as it did YOU.

My main problem with you, though, is this: you are being DISCRIMINATORY against any person of faith. Sorry, but that’s unacceptable in America, my man.

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Agree, particularly with this last paragraph. Discrimination and insulting to people of faith.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Wrong! How many times did I say it’s not about faith, but the organization of a religion to influence and say it is so? There is no science to support it.

But as we discussed weeks ago when discussing the universe, we both came to the conclusion that something super natural happened to create life. Something happened to make this all happen, right? Is it a heavenly father who looks like an elder wise man wearing a robe because it started thousands of years ago and that’s how they dressed? I’m sorry, I might as well believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny when we all know now as adults, that it was our parents and family etc. that gave us those gifts.

The fairytale stuff needs to go away if we are to solve the problems in the world. Religion breeds radical ideas based on nothing other than indoctrinated ideas based on nothing but that. No science!

Look Tim, if you chose not to believe, so be it, I am sad, but it is not my business. I wish you the best, and hope you are comfortable knowing when you die you just go to “dirt” and nothing else happens. Personally, I like the promise of paradise. Peace to you.

  59. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Bookman, you’re too emotional about this that you don’t read what I say, but what you think I’m saying. Faith is not what I’m attacking, said that now 3 or 4 times. It’s this idea that because someone wrote it, it must be true. You have that much faith in humans? I do not. Too many liars and evil people with agendas. I’ve seen you say that about politics. But you believe people from thousands of years ago.

Never said our energy ends and your soul doesn’t move on from your human body. Not sure about paradise, but continued existence is possible. I believe more in reincarnation via energy/spirit/soul than living in some land of la la la. That actually makes more sense. Doesn’t mean you’ll see your loved ones again as you once did. Just the ever evolving creation of life. Kind of like Déjà vu.

No need to be sad for me. I feel I’m seeing it more for what it really is now than how I was taught about it. I’m still learning for myself. When I die, I’ll know. Or not. But I’m happy I was given a shot to take the ride in this life. 🙂

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yes in a scientific way based on energy. Not saying I’m right. Just think that the belief in reincarnation that precedes Christianity might be more viable. After all Christians believe Christ rose from the dead. Maybe energy recycles itself.

I said earlier Déjà vu is one of the reasons I believe that. You ever experience that? Not that you did something similar a week ago, but that you might have done that in another life many years ago?

Protons and Electrons giving you a bump of info. Impossible?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

You replied to me that I was mocking your faith when I said multiple times that’s not what it was about. Your emotions skipped over that time and time again. For the record I don’t care what anyone believes until it affects the rights of others in an evil way.

I believe Christianity is evil. History tells me so. Judeo-Christian values created Satan. They knew it existed and had to incorporate it somehow. This is bad and God is all powerful, except when Satan… is doing whatever it wants to do. Then we must condemn!!!! But it will happen again. Shhh… keep praying…

    —————
WOAH! Slow your roll there, dude. That’s not even cool, and you know it. For somebody I’ve talked to in past regarding such matters, there isn’t “evil” (your words, not mine!).

My Brother, you are way off track. If we want 100% acceptance of people, ya can’t be talking out the side of your mouth calling Christianity “evil”. It doesn’t work that way and you know as much. buddy.

It took me many years (y’all should know) to become accepting of gays. I know some harbor hatred towards me for the ignoramus statements I made approximately 10 years ago on one mere night: I’ve changed, and I have many of y’all to thank for that. Yet, I never hated (or perceived as evil) my gay friend David… who had his business burned down out of HATE. I went to David’s bar without any hesitation on his opening night, because I knew he was a good man.

EVIL is a very strong word, Tim. I KNOW ‘evil’, for I’ve fought it first hand… time and again.

You’re my Brother, brother! Please don’t sound like a Nazi when talking about Christians.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I don’t think a more polarizing figure was ever in the White House. People either loved him or hated him, there was no middle ground whatsoever, the very definition of polarizing. Never mind what the media did or said, or what people said, did you look at Trump and think “That’s how a President of the USA should behave”? You think his constant bitch tweets on social media were Presidential? If you did, then I guess we have a very different idea of how the President of this great country should carry himself.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Yep. I loved most of Trump’s policies. I didn’t even mind some of his social media stuff and loved him jacking up the media. But his pettiness and braggadocio got old quick. • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Thanks for your honesty. I voted for him twice, but it wasn’t because I liked him as a human being and it wasn’t because I think he was Presidential. M13 said “we as Christians”. He told me he’s part of a tribe. I didn’t make that up. There are also agnostics who don’t believe in doctrine but are open to a deity. • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Why not not confuse the people who engage in it? That’s the problem. That’s the crutch. Well they’re good Christians, how could they possibly do such horrible things? Not everyone of them engages in evil, but they push it aside over… and over.

Let’s pretend that didn’t happen. Onward and upward. Right!?

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

No Tim. Never forget and the people who engaged in those acts were not good Christians. Which is exactly don’t confuse the individual actors with the belief system

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I thought this wasn’t about groups? Yet we see things such as “we as Christians”?

What does that mean? For me it means turn a blind eye and pretend all the horror doesn’t matter, we’re all good people within that umbrella. Let’s move on and pretend that never happened.

For the record, I was never molested or anything like that incase some of you are wondering. I’ve just seen too many God loving Christians say one thing and do the other. I don’t trust the group. Not saying there are no good individuals. Just tired of hearing well he or she goes to church so I’m surprised they would do anything like that. Right, that’s the crutch from the get go. They love the lord and go to church, no way they can be bad.

Oh… yes they can. We’ve seen it forever, but as good God fearing Christians, as long as I say that, let’s all turn a blind eye.

It has nothing to do with FAITH!!!! You protect bad people under the guise of being a good Christian and that tag is BS. Be a good person and stop hiding under some nonsense that you believe your God allows you to do. Your God doesn’t allow it, you allow it in the name of your God while doing your evil.

No more crutch from me. I will call it out whenever I see it.

I never called out anyone for their faith here on this blog, they defended their fucked up religion. Two different things.

Yes… Christianity is evil. Just like every other hypocritical religion and organized cult. Open your eyes without being in fear of backlash. It won’t end until you call it out. You’ll be having the same political discussions until you’re dead. Stop the madness.

  73. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’ll weigh in with my own perspective, and sorry for the long post, but how can you even scratch the surface of this kind of conversation in 3 or 4 paragraphs? It’s looong and I still don’t feel I came close to adequately expressing the nuance of my views.

I’m not a believer in any of Earth’s pantheon of gods. I believe in the possibility of a creator, but definitely not one created by man, so I guess I’d be labeled as a subset of agnostic.

I think, among other things, man has a deep-seated need to believe we are more than the tiny specks that we are, and the ego of man is terrified that it disappears at death, and those are two of the major needs that drive human spiritualism. I believe in positive factors that drive us as well, but that is another conversation.

I believe spiritualism is a necessary component to humanity, and we all find our own path to communion with whatever ‘spirituality’ means to us. For some it’s faith in a higher being, for others it’s connecting with nature, or meditative self reflection of existence and/ or purpose, or any number of things. All of these, and many more paths can lead to individual spiritual fulfillment.

There are many ways to talk about religion.

When someone says they have faith in Christ (or whomever) and they feel joy knowing they have a secure afterlife, I am happy they have that spiritual contentment and sense of peace, relief, or whatever it means to them to have that reassurance.

I don’t feel the need to challenge a person’s belief in that because my opinion on their faith is entirely irrelevant from both our perspectives. This is the individual aspect of faith and religion.

You can talk about a religion or faith on a moral level. All religions have a set of tenets and moral philosophy. IMO these ethical codes can have great value, and can be a written path for people to follow even without belief. Sometimes elements of these codes are terrible and outdated, such as being intolerant of gays, blacks, or death to the infidel. The moral codes of organized religion do sometime get updates, but it often moves slowly.

You can also talk about religion on an organizational level, the administrative and socio-political aspects of religion, and how it influences behavior. To me, this is an entirely different conversation about religion than discussing the tenants of faith or an individual’s own relationship with their god. I think this can be discussed without personally insulting individuals.

I have known people of many faiths, and many great people who’s faith defines them to one degree or another. On an individual and local level, religious communities often do a lot of good and are positive contributors to our society.

In my opinion, just like any other organizations, religious ones can be and often are corrupt, used for nefarious purposes, and constructed to manipulate and control large numbers of people.

We’ve seen all throughout history how religion has been used to commit atrocities on large scale. It’s just as easy to do horrible things when you have god on your side as it is when there is no belief in god. There is very little scarier than someone who does something horrible with the absolute faith they are in the right. Crusades, witch trials, numerous ‘cleansings’ litter our past.

With that being said, I also think, in general, people are just rotten lice on the face of the planet. If we removed religion entirely, the same horrible shyte would happen. We’d just be fighting, and killing, and brutalizing each other over something else. So even though I personally am not a big fan of organized religion, I don’t rail against it, for the problems that arise from it will always be the people that use it for their own purposes. And that doesn’t change. That is who we are as a species.

For what it’s worth, I truly understand where you come from. I swear, half the people in my church are anything but true Christians: they are anything but tolerant. But not ALL of any thing, structure, organization, class, etc, etc, can be categorized into one lump sum… and you know it.

As others have said to you, Christianity isn’t evil. Look, it’s the evil asshole who uses Christianity as a crutch (<– your words). I made a song back in '98, dissing a former member of my crew. I said, "your using the Cross as a crutch"… GREAT MINDS! It wasn't a diss to Christianity, it was a diss to his abusing his responsibilities as a Christian and as a hypocrite… but that's another tale for another time, Tim.

Just please stop marginalizing people based on RELIGION!!! THAT'S evil, discriminatory, and anti-Constitutional… most intolerant. The only thing that matters is the content of one's character in my eyes. I'M not the judge, and most of my friends don't believe in God, either.

    ————–
It all depends on how one looks at it, my friend. I suppose I’m talking, “from a certain point of view”. Had it not been for the media, there would be no polarization.

You will recall how GWB was — at the time — the most polarizing President of all-time: the Afghanistan invasion, the Iraq War, NO on stem-cell research, YES on the Patriot Act, etc, etc.

And before GWB? Ronald Reagan was the most polarizing President of all-time.

I think you’ll see a history of the democrat media trying to take out sitting Republican presidents. Only, Trump punched back. If that qualifies as “polarizing”, I see your point. But to me, he was bringing America back and UNITED everyone… not “polarizing” at all, in my eyes.

    Fuck the media, man.
