Before the draft, my assessment of the 2021 Miami Dolphins defense was their secondary was their top unit and a big part of why the defense was a top rated defense in points allowed. Without a doubt, a huge part of that was the play of CB Xavien Howard. It wasn’t only the 10 INT’s, he would be one of the top 10 CB’s in the NFL without that, but those 10 turnovers vault him into top 3 territory. Think about that for a moment, teams regularly employ 3 CB’s, and sometimes as many as 5 or even 6. To be conservative, to be in the top 3 of say 48 CB’s is an accomplishment. It’s not only his great play alone too, his play makes it much easier for everyone else on the team to get their job done. He also has that uncanny ability to read the QB and jump throws which make him a very dangerous defensive player to challenge, although he was often challenged and he made QB’s pay.To me, it’s clear Howard doesn’t have long term confidence in his wary body so he wants to be paid now. Hard not to appreciate his circumstance even if it’s not great for the team to rip up a very lucrative contract signed just 2 seasons ago and pay him a boatload more. In my opinion though, I don’t have an issue with paying him this year and the next for two productive seasons and then having a parachute to get out without any cap hits after the next 2 seasons. I doubt Howard would take issue with that as long as he gets paid up front. I almost see that as a WIN-WIN.
If, say the Dolphins take a hard stance against their star CB Howard, it would almost certainly be last year’s 30th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, CB Noah Igbinoghene that would replace Howard. Last season Iggy was very limited in what they allowed him to do, playing time was sparse playing only 28% of the snaps on defense. The reason was two fold though, it seemed as if last year Flores and the defensive coaches wanted Igbinoghene to concentrate on playing the boundary rather than insert him in at the slot playing inside. He also struggled in limited time against one of the league’s best WR’s Stefon Diggs, which was a lot to ask. From my recollection, his coverage was not poor against Diggs, it was more Allen making some pinpoint throws in which Iggy had pretty good coverage on. In any case, they clearly didn’t feel he was ready for prime time last season, but has that changed in 2021? Do the Dolphins feel that removing one of the best CB’s in the NFL and replacing him with an untested 2nd year player against a division in which each team has improved offensively is the right way to go?
Let’s look at how the AFC East has evolved and changed from 2020 to 2021. The Patriots drafted Mac Jones with pick #15 in the 2021 NFL Draft. He will compete with Cam Newton for the starting spot. In addition, the patriots quietly fortified their receiving corps bringing in Kendrick Bourne from San Francisco and Nelson Agholor from the Las Vegas Raiders who will join promising WR N’Keal Harry (2019 pick #30) and Jakobi Meyers (Not the law firm). A modest upgrade but if Mac Jones can play like Justin Herbert did last season or even Joe Burrow (minus the injury), they can and should be a better offense. The Jets made offense a priority in2021, drafting QB Zach Wilson with the 2nd pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and following that pick up with OT Alijah Vera-Tucker, then WR Elijah Moore and then RB Michael Carter. 4 picks in rounds 1 and 2 ALL on offense. The Jets were dreadful last year, you have to expect them to be better although they are putting all their eggs in one basket by clearly handing over the reins to rookie QB Zach Wilson. With QB’s Mike White and James Morgan the only other QB’s on the roster, the Jets are putting quite a lot of pressure on the young QB. They do have a nice receiving corps though with Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder, and in FA in 2021 they added former Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis who had his career best season last year with just a shade under 1000 yards averaging a nice 15.1 YPR. If Zach Wilson is for real, the Jets should be considerably better in 2021. The Bills already had one of the most potent offenses in the NFL, 2nd in the NFL in scoring at 31.3 PPG. The Bills stayed pat with what they had on offense and doubled down on defense for 2021. In summation, this division may have gotten more difficult to defend.
No question we shored up our LB corps with the addition of Benardrick McKinney and the drafting of potential pas rushing star Jaelan Phillips, and drafting safety Jevon Holland in RD 2. It also should not be overlooked that we added S Jason McCourty as well as nickelback Justin Coleman, formerly of the Patriots, Seahawks and Lions. Still, losing Howard after all those moves is a huge gamble. I’m not sure how things will play out and whether the holdout will either force a trade or if the holdout can last through the season. My choice for resolution is clear, frontload the contract so you hopefully get what you pay for in the next 2 seasons, make Howard happy, and then easily be able to cut him painlessly for the cap if his health depreciates along with his play. An extensive holdout possibly lasting through the season helps neither party and a trade only helps the future, not the present team.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Howard’s coverage skills and ball hawk skills made up for a rather mediocre pass rush last year
Nice job Mike in keeping the content coming we need to get you a press pass
Get him credentials then move his ass down there
Press pass would be fantastic, would also necessitate a move to FLA. I’m down though, make it happen! lol
Haven’t read it yet but to answer the headline the answer is absolutely yes.
To win the division we’ll need to be a top 8 or so defense probably top 4
That will only matter if our offense takes a big step particularly time of possession and rushing 5-6 more points a game wouldn’t hurt either.
With what our D wants to be able to do and with how young it is we need X, locking down one side and getting turnovers.
Flores calling the situation “unique” is the only thing that gives me hope that a resolution can be had.
We need X as much as he needs us.
Agree, you’ll see that if/when you get around to reading it
Good write Mike E. Obviously the team is better with Howard. He’s our best player. He’s sorta pissing me off though and think the shelf life ain’t much. That goes to your two-year contract, but it also goes to trading him.
We’ll see what happens, but wouldn’t be against telling his agent to shop for trades, which would include how much he could get in a contract. Have a feeling he might not like it.
We knew Fuller’s 1-year deal was worth $10.6 Mil. Just read he’s got $3 million in incentives as well. No idea how reachable they are.
Probably games played due to his injury history.
Well written sir .. I’m with you , do what we need to keep the man for 2 more years and get out of jail free afterwards .. if he does ball out and stay healthy for two years we can look at trade/resign, move to safety at that point .. 👍👍
“Honey, the pool is caving in. The pool is sinking to the ground. The ground is shaking, everything’s shaking”
Cassie Straton’s last words from the balcony of her condo in the collapsed building to her husband. She then screamed before the line went dead. So sad.
Sure is
Geez… that is VERY saddening. 😦
Good write, Mike. We have a lot of cap space next year (over $60M) and that’s one reason I have no problem paying Howard. He’s our best player right now. We probably won’t have to worry about our cap for a couple of years being nobody is really up for a big payday.
+++++++
Part of the reason we will have so much cap is we have 36 contracts due up in 2022. Some of those won’t even make the team this year, but I can count at least 15 that will which is more than a quarter of the team. Maybe we let some of those guys walk next year, but they still have to be replaced.
And there are some players that very well might get good paydays like Gesicki, Ogbah, and Fuller. And maybe we want to keep players like Roberts, Foster, Williams, Wilson.
Then there are players who might also outplay their contracts that want extensions too. If we have a good year, some of the other players probably will want to get paid.
Then we might want to pick up a highpriced FA or two. That would be offset some by whatever salary they are replacing.
On the positive side (for giving him his money), the cap is supposed to have a nice jump next year, so that’ll give us even more room. And to your point, we’re talking about something like 5-7 mil per year, so you can look at a couple of players like maybe a Williams and a Wilson and say would you rather resign them or keep Howard. Or maybe you let Ogbah walk, and we draft his replacement for a lot less.
It’s going to be interesting to watch this play out. Like you said, we can make it happen if the team thinks it’s worth it.
Some of those potential extensions, you can also kick the can down the road, so they don’t impact us in 2022. Overall, I’m not disputing what you said, just expanding on it.
I’m talking big contracts. Every team has to pay players every year. If we have a lot of contract issues that means a lot of players balled out and we most likely had a very good season. I wouldn’t mind that kind of issue. 🙂
All those one-year contracts mean cap space the next year. Also mean spots to fill. Lets start with WIll Fuller. That’s over $10 mil right there.
If Fuller balls out, that’s at least 13 mil per year, Gesicki will probably get something over 10 mil, Ogbah might get over 10 mil. Those pretty big contracts. I mean we’re not paying anyone Mahomes money, if that’s what you mean, lol.

M, dude.. reel it in a bit.. Stanger does not know every reporter employed in the state of FL.. he posted the last thing that he had heard , whether 100% the real reason or not, ..he heard , he posted … kind of in the same vein as you stared “ you heard “ he had a connection to the building….
No need to be attacking each other over two possibly unrelated incidents….
One Luv 🧉

You are kind dude, and I respect this post, truly. I felt personally attacked and that’s why I got riled up. Time for all of us to move on from the misunderstanding, and realize that we do actually care about one another.
Thanks for the words, Manitoba! Stanger, I’m past it.
As long as you are happy M13 then I am happy. And don’t ever worry about it from my side. Have the thickest skin there is.
I’ve got thick skin too, but I will defend my name and honor when feeling attacked. I think it was truly a misunderstanding over a terrible thing that had occurred, and both of our emotions were running high. You felt profound sadness, and I felt acute anger with the need to find out what happened ASAP (for prevention and/or retaliation for what had occurred in Miami).
It’s water under the bridge, my friend. We agree that what happened in Miami was a tragedy… and that’s what really matters in the end.
Always appreciated how think your skin is. An admirable attribute. All the props in the world to you.
Mike E,
Good write! I maintain offering X more money upfront in a new contract (making him the highest-paid CB in the NFL), but making it a 3-year deal with an easy out in the 3rd year. I’ve been saying this for nearly a month, and I hope this compromise will keep X with us.
If his knees don’t give out on us after 3 years, we can re-up him again. If his knees do give out on us, easy out in the 3rd year.
Not sure what this easy out means?
No massive dead money if we need to cut/trade Xavien in year 3. Front-load everything in years 1 and 2.
Oh okay, don’t know enough about contracts to dispute or promote this. All I care about is X is on the field this year.
Essentially, we’d be betting on X’s knees. It’s reasonably safe to assume his knees will be good for another 1-2 years, but after that? We need an ‘escape hatch’ in the event he begins to regress, due to his knees.
Maybe we can get a 5-year contract done with him, but that year 3 had better be the “easy out” year, IMO.

Me too, man! Me too. I really don’t want to lose him.
LOL at you guys and your ‘thick’ skin. When you’re a 330 ft tall ape, you’re skin is well over a foot thick.
I’ m the guy who Walker once told “yeah guess my stuff doesn’t work with you.” I’ll put that up against any great hairy ape you want to name. 🙂
CavalierKong
Lets go to the maintenance and the Empire State Building for a verdict on that one.
LOL, ok, we’ll both fall off and see who survives. Teensy little Kong from 1933 didn’t do so well, but he was only like 50 ft tall. 😉

And right back at ya, sir. We’re both respectful and respectable individuals… but I admittedly can get hot-headed at times when frustrated. My eyes are green for a reason… it’s the Irish in me.
It’s all cool. But you do realize the hot-headed does not match up with thick skin? But it is no problem. We each are how we are. Had lots of friends with tempers.
Stanger, I truly don’t get frustrated very often, man. But challenge either my honor, dignity, or sincerity (and that VERY RARELY ever occurs)… then I get frustrated. Aside from that, I’m one of the most laid-back folks one could meet.
Yes, it’s ALL good, man!
And challenges to my honor, dignity, or sincerity don’t bother me at all. I know who I am. Like said, we are all different.
M13, I understand your concern about X’s knees but none of his injuries were overly serious and I go by what did the player do recently. X played all 16 games last year and had his best season so how bad can they be? Lots of players get banged up in this league but the really talented ones are always sought after.
I understand where you’re coming from as well. All I really care about is getting X back for us Phins… one way or the other. I’m with ya, Tim!
I’m just trying to come up with a contract solution that would be amicable to both X and the team. We’ll see what happens, but count me on your side in that I want X back on our team.
Thick skin? Try gama ray hardened green skin
And gets angry easily. About more than the actual skin.
LOL, Ken! I’m not messin’ with you, dude! 😀
Hulk smash when Phins losing 🤢🥊🏈
Wrong place
Pfft, a little lullaby, and it’s back to baby soft.
But I am always angry
So you’re saying you don’t have thick skin? Huh, you always seem pretty even-keeled to me. lol
🤢
(Kong switches from literal to idiomatic, then back again…)
Ken is even-keeled. Hulk not so much.. Try sitting next to him at a Phins game when we are blowing it.

what’d you say MOFO!
Sorry for the misspell. Was meant to be “thick.” And if was talking about something else…. just let it slide.
Ogbah seems to be willing to play on his 2nd year deal. He’s only 27 so he might be balling for that big deal in 2022. That’s a nice thing to have. We’ll deal with it when the time comes. Lots goes into signing a player to a big deal, not just stats, but team fit, good teammate, no nonsense etc.
It’d be nice if he builds on what he did last year. He was a nice surprise. Our Dline should be much improved which should help him.
I don’t watch much college, so I haven’t seen Phillips play. I’m excited to see the rook on the field for the 1st time.
Agreed. I don’t watch a lot of college football and I surely don’t scout players. LOL
Phillips looks the part of the prototype Edge guy – 6-5 260+ with good quicks and speed. But we have to see it on the field at the next level. A friend of mine who is a big UM and Phins fan loved the pick. I’m pretty sure he bought his jersey or he will. LOL
Ogbah looked like a really good DE last year so maybe he’s entering his prime type of guy. We’ll see this year. I’m really focused on 2021. It’s Grier and Flores who will deal with the future stuff. We’ve got a season to play and I believe we expect to be one of the better teams. Last year was a good start.
Training camp opens in exactly one month. 11 weeks till Dolphins season opener!!
Almost there, brother.

You’ve been tempered through more age and experience than me. And that’s one of the several reasons why I DO respect you.
I know who I am, too… but I should’ve handled myself better than I did with you over the last couple of days. We’re not done learning until we die, and you’ve now taught me how to handle myself better. For that, I THANK YOU!
I truly should just let some stuff roll off my shoulders, and not allow it to affect me. But to be fair… when it came from YOU, it kind of stung, Bro.
Don’t WORRY! I’m NOT going back into with you, Stanger! LOL
Just saying that criticism from those who ya respect stings more than some blowhard nobody.
If I’m getting a little perturbed about something….. time to walk away for a bit, if only a couple hours. Part of why don’t get in flame wars.
Base point for me in life is you always do right. Then no one has a reason to hit on you, least a right reason. Second point is be polite as best as you can…..that one for you may circle back into the base point.
Sound advice, Stanger… and I thank you for that, sir.
When faced with confrontation, I feel compelled to bring the facts… and in an “IN YOUR FACE!” fashion. I don’t back down from confrontation, because it exposes weakness. But the “Vulcan” in me says, I’m inadvertently exposing a weakness… but I hit override most of the time.
You’re very right that we’re all different. I need to apply your advice to my life, and perhaps I’ll yield better results.
Again, thank you for the advice, MR. Stanger!
“I don’t back down from confrontation, because it exposes weakness.” You just analyzed yourself. You’ve never met me but least when younger was a guy few people would mess with….. and that is both physically and intellectually. Never felt that way. Just rode with whatever was going on.
Thick skin? You gotta see the calluses on my hand! lol
LMAO!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Mike wins
Not going to touch that – literally
Mike, I finished Bosch. I thought it was great, and was satisfied with how they wrapped it up. You know the formula, if you like Bosch, then you’ll like season 7. I could watch 10 more seasons of the same stuff, lol.
That’s good to hear Kong. I feel like my viewings lately have been filled with series that start mediocre and then just go completely off the rails with nonsensical plot twists that are offensively unrealistic. We just started “Your Honor” and that one actually started off the nonsense right off the bat, but it’s going to get worse and I can see what’s coming already. I love Bryan Cranston, but this character is simply an unimaginative hybrid of a few of his last works. Gonna give it a couple more episodes before I pull the plug. We’re also watching “Manifest” which started off interesting but I can see it’s priming to go off the rails soon as well.
It seems to me everyone has apologized enough. Now put your thick skin back on. 😉
If Phillips can actually create some pressure off the edge….and maybe AVG takes another little step….we could begin seeing the inside pressure get better. Then you really start jacking up offenses because they don’t know where the pressure is coming from. Bad throws happen more and picks happen. I’m excited to see how this defense develops this year.
You other baseball guys out there, what do you think about the leagues new rules regarding the crackdown on pitchers and checking the them in-between innings a few times a game for illegal substances?
(At this point I don’t really care about it because my Cards are a mess, lol. We need an entire new coaching staff.)
But should we be cracking down on these things that have basically been part of the game since its inception, or do you agree with trying to clean up what to this point has been a generally allowed practice?
It will stop pretty soon I think. It’s disruptive, and not nearly as entertaining as Whitey Herzog asking to check Hojo’s bat in the 80’s 🙂
LOL, agreed. From what I’ve seen, it’s been pretty universally lambasted by the press and fans alike.
It will die down. It’s about grip, not making the ball a whiffle ball. LOL
One thing we did not have last year was the speed of Fuller, Waddle and Wilson at WR. That could change everything this season. We didn’t just add one guy, we have three. 🙂
Happiest person of all might be Gaskin. He should have more running room with some hard covers in play.
Yep! All of the backs. That might be why RB wasn’t the biggest focus.
We’ve got the talent in the WR room now. Can they stay healthy, and can the QB make the right reads and get the ball there? If that happens, I think we make the playoffs as the 5 or 6 seed.
If all that happens we may be within the top 3 seed.
Maybe, but I think it unlikely we unseat Buff this year. I wouldn’t say ‘never’, but I really think Buffalo has the most talented team in the league and may end up with 14 wins. If Allen doesn’t regress, they’re my pick to win the SB.
I hear ya but every year is different. They had a great season last year. I think the AFC East will be much better this year. They got 13 wins off of a… let’s say not so strong division last year. 6-0 in the division. I don’t think that’s happening this year.
We’ll see. Every year some unexpected teams fall and others rise. I’ll be happy with the playoffs, but a division title would be some gravy we’d all enjoy 🙂
There was some talk about DeCastro, and at the time we weren’t sure about the reason for his release. This story says it was due to a ‘chronic ankle injury problem’ which the team labeled as a non-football injury.
DeCastro appears to call bullshyte, and says “The owners are billionaires for a reason.”
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/david-decastro-has-a-very-pragmatic-viewpoint-of-why-he-was-released/ar-AALtxQq
I’m in the “let him walk” camp on Howard. If your team relies on one player to get by, you don’t have a good team.
Think will turn ugly for 3 reasons. Other teams won’t be willing to give X as much money as he wants. Also won’t be willing to give as much up in trade as Grier wants. And that leaves X in Miami Gardens asking for more money than the team wants to give.
It’s not about that. He’s an elite player. Why can’t we ever admit we have one because we worry about the cap? Last thing I want to see is we move on from him and he continues his elite level of play for the next 2-3 years for some other team. He’ll have plenty of suitors.
Who is worried about cap? That’s the easiest part of the X situation to solve.
Nobody has picked off more passes per game than X the last 5 years. That’s with him missing time due to some knee injuries. It’s not just the picks either. Receivers don’t get open against him often for big gains. He can also tackle and lay the wood. To me he’s what you hope to find in a corner. Might be the best 2nd round pick we’ve ever had.
Tim — You act like I said X is bad. Think he was the best CB in the NFL last year. Only said the cap part is the easy one. And gonna stick with that.
Wife: Anything interesting today?
Kong: On the blog we discussed the tensile strength and durability of various materials, such as ape skin, the hulk’s hide, and chronic wanking hand callouses. Oh, and some football stuff.
Wife: ……..Um, ok. Dinner tonight?
She takes you for granted my Ape. She knows that dinner is gonna be a fine one, but doesn’t even have to ask what it is. They want you in New jersey man. 🙂
We’ll make it happen one of these days. This year’s fest is still on the table too. We’ve had various bargaining sessions, but have not as yet reached an agreement. It may need to go to arbitration, but I’m trying to avoid that. That means the youngest gets to cast the deciding vote, and my corporate spies have already informed me she wants to go to Hawaii, lol.
Make the 2021 Fest happen. Nothing like it.
Howard has never helped the Dolphins win the AFC east, doubtful he would now
we need a team to do that, and howard is anti team IMO
I see within a week you changed your tune. LOL
Anti-team? He became a student of the game early on in his career and we’ve seen the results.
We got to 10-6 because of him for sure. He changes the course of a game. If Wilkins didn’t fuck up on a fumble interfering, X has a long fumble return for a TD. He’s a ballhawk. They don’t grow on trees. 🙂
Wilkins may have made more big plays against us than for us last year, and 2 of them (X fumble return TD and Preston injury) were huge
He needs to grow out of the terrible 2s fast
LOL @ terrible 2s
Single cause falacy
if the howard issue could be solved with simple guarantees, it likely already would have been addressed IMO
its the money , he wants to be renegotiated every time someone gets a bigger contract than he has
^
That’s what happens when you lead the league in INTs and make 1st team all-pro.
So anyone here who wants to get paid more due to their performance is a greedy jerk and anti-the company they work for?
Teams toss aside players all the time when they drop in production. Bad big biz playing the game. So the player can’t play that game when they go above and beyond? Just remember the agent is behind that. That’s their job. This idea about a home town discount is a fallacy unless you’re going for your 2nd or 3rd championship in a row. And even then that’s no guarantee.
A lot of you are trying to make X out to be a bad guy. Why? Because he’s awesome at his position? You would do the same thing, be honest.
he took a vacation in week 17 against the bills backup players, didnt put out much effort
we understand to win the division, we will have to beat out Buffalo, and Howard is not the key piece to get past the bills if he is too lackluster in his efforts
Howard help us win the east?, thats rich
last game against the Bills, who did win the east, Howard was getting toasted in buffalo, backup WR,s were burning Howard, he looked like shit in Buffalo
so no, its not possible for Howard to help the team win the division, he isnt worth what he thinks he is worth
Again Single cause falacy
watch Howard in week 17 and see if he helped Miami win the division, or not
Howard was a spectator in week 17 against the bills, he watched the rushing touchdown go right past him, didnt even attempt to make a tackle
on other plays he watched other corners make the play and just watched them. he did manage to get a int after the Dolphin were down by almost 30 points
but Howard is not going to help the team win the division, if he isnt willing to work hard enough to get it.
what was considered to be his best season, he doesnt even put out much effort against the bills, he isnt the top Corner in the NFL when he just stands around and watches IMO
LOL
am i wrong? did Howard help the Dolphins win the division? lol
the video doesnt lie, Howard played like shit in week 17 against the bills
I think David ingested his MJ stocks
explain how howard helped Miami win the division? he helped us win against the bills? lol
even my my stocks arent helping
David we didn’t win a division but we were 10-6. Take Howard off the team and we would not have been 500 but you got me David I can’t explain how he helped us win the division 🤪🧐
true
thats what the headline of todays blog is, can Miami win the east without Howard
my point is they cant win the east, WITH howard, and dont like the way he fucked off in week 17 against the team that won the east
so yes, Howard can help the team, and get ints, but he has not proven to be the key piece to win the division, and taking the day off in Buffalo against BACKUP players in the NFL is unacceptable IMO
If David was President, one week he’d go to war and the next he’d be saying time to bring them home and America is pacifist nation now. LOL
wrong, i said that howard played like shit, and did NOT help the team win the division
of course you have nothing real to debate what happened, i didnt like watching it either
Right it was all on Howard. Watch the games much? LOL
The entire team got their asses kicked.
yes, but the entire team is not asking to be paid the top in the NFL, only Howard is
but nothing can explain Howards lack of effort in week 17, its not excusable
he spectated, watched others instead of getting his hands dirty.
maximum effort should be expected IMO
David, do you really think one player wins a division? But some players can change the course of a game. X is one of those players. Turnovers are the biggest game changing stat. Okay Iggy just do that. Not that easy.
i remember Marino doing it, but not a cornerback
remember when Cam Newton wouldnt jump on his fumble, and lost to the broncos in the super bowl?
he didnt take alot of heat for most of the game, just that one play, lack of effort
maybe the team would have lost anyway, who knows, but the fact remains that Newton spectated on that play, and the Broncos did not
i dont even remember what kind of game Newton had that day, i guess its not that important if he wont put out the effort later in the game
Maximum effort is required on every play, win or lose, and Newton just didnt want to do it,.
ill never respect him again after that play, and if Newton was holding the dolphins out for more money, i would point out his lack of effort that cost his team
So now we compare an elite QB who touches the ball every play on offense to a CB? Dude!!! Come on, man.
i was comparing the LACK OF EFFORT< and explaining that i cant excuse away the LACK OF EFFORT
Newton gave no effort on that play, and Howard screwed off in week 17
both werent the only factors in their loss, but their lack of effort hardly qualifies them to be paid the best in the NFL IMO
you want the top pay, give the top effort, and top results, then its earned
Tim, I dont question Why Tom Brady is making so much money, he consistently puts out maximum effort and results
i still hate the guy, lol but i cant question what he does on the field
i DO question making Howard the top paid cornerback, when he is inconsistent with his effort and results.
we can disagree on this, and thats ok
We can disagree on this. 🙂
TAMPA BAY went from 2 major newspapers publishing 7 days a eek to just 1 newspaper publishing 2 days a week over the last 3 years. One of the results has been diminished coverage of the Tampa Bay Rays, who, last year, got to the World Series, losing to the Dodgers 4 games to 2. However, Rays owner Stuart Sternberg announced over a year ago that he wants to play half a season in Montreal and half a season in Tampa, with Tampa and Montreal taxpayers paying nearly all the costs to build TWO outdoor stadiums, one in each city.
WHAT an incredibly stupid and greedy position to take, this IDIOTIC and unworkable proposal!!
ONE outcome has been diminshed coverage in the sports section. The paper no longer publishes the standings in MLB, for instance!! Bare bones coverage is all the Rays get now. Meanwhile, this paper has SEVERAL stories about the upcoming NHL STANLEY CUP FINALS in today’s paper.
The attitude seems to be FUCK STERNBERG, GO BOLTS, all the way. Never seen this before.
Overall attitude now is “DON’T let the door hit you in the ass when the contract with Tampa Bay ends in 2027 for the Rays.” Sternberg says he can move the Rays to another area. We say, “Go Quickly!”
BASEBALL is in deep trouble in Tampa Bay. But only until 2027.
I have a NYC is back story from a real life event I witnessed this Friday
But I won’t post it unless I know some one is around . So if you want to hear the story, please let me know and I will post it
No do not tell, people will be offended. LOL
Do you want to hear…..it’s funny and it’s true
Let it rip Piggy. I want to hear about it
Okay. I will post in a couple of posts
So I’ve been riding citibike when I go to work
If you Don’t know nyc ctibike here’s a link
https://account.citibikenyc.com/access-plans
Basically the city has bike stands all around nyc going into Brooklyn and queens
There’s an app on your phone and you unlock a bIke. It’s usually like $3 for a 20 minute ride
And I can gp from my work to my house pretty easily
So when I go into the office these days (2-3 days a week) I usually ride if I can
Ok, continue
And I work on about 45th and Lexington (midtown east) so when leaving work, I get a bike, head east to 1st avenue and then go north to 59th street
Then I cross the 59th street Bridge and I’m right over the bridge
I take 1st avenue bc there is a segregated bike path from the road – it’s safer
Nyc has become really bike friendly lately
So on Friday I decide to leave work early probably 4ish
And I get the bike and head up 1st avenue.
The bike lane is on the west side of 1st avenue and I’m heading north
I stop at a red light at about 49th street
I look to the east side of the street and some guy is about to cross the street
But he stops and jumps back towards the sidewalk bc some jeep decided to gun it and run he red light
So he e=doesn’t go too crazy he just says “red light” as he yells at her\
He isn’t cursing or anything
She rolls down her window about 20 feet up the street and calls him a “fucking bum”
He curses back at her
She curses back at him\
And then she keeps driving
😃
Piggy is back
Piggyback
🐷
So I will continue down here
So as she drives away and bc the lights are timed, she has to stop about 2 blocks north at a red light
Keep in mind im in he bike lane stopped At the red light
The guy was walking towards my side until he realized she stopped a couple blocks up
I see him look at her car and then start to run up.
I’m like – uh oh…This is going to be something
Anyway my light turns green so I start to peddle up – but these shitty city bikes don’t have much pick up
I just hear more cursing and screaming
Appearently he ran up and punched her car
And now it’s turning into a scene on 1st avenue
Her light is Green but instead of moving forward she turns her keep toward the west side of the street like a maniac
Now she’s blocking 1st avenue and cars are honking out her
So then….
I should get my NYer card revoked for thIs
I get involved and I yell “you almost ran him over and now You are blocking traffic”
They both ignore me as they continue to curse and threaten one another
Now I Say I should get my nyer card revoked Bc I had no business getting involved
And every good NYer knows you never get involved
Bc odds are, in every little tussle you witness, it’s 50/50 some one is a FUCKING MANIAC
But I forgot all the Rules during Quarantine so I thought would be able to bring peace
So I Yell at her to stop blocking traffic THINKING THE JEEP WILL BE SANE AND DRIve north
But she doesnt drive north
Instead she turns down 51st just to continue screaming at the guy
And that’s a serious maneuver bc it’s not just a right turn
It’s like 20 extra minutes of traffic
So she’s furious “You punched my car you fucking bum”
Super Pig to the rescue?
Or a how I met your mom story
So I turn down 51st and try to talk to the guy
“hey dude I saw the whole thing, she almost hit it. Forget it – it’s not worth it”
Guys turns and looks at me first trying to figure out what I’m saying
He’s all furious with a vein popping out of his forehead and beet red, with his hands in his pockets trying to find something
And I say again “it’s not worth it”
Dude looks at me And gives me a nod
At that moment if he had telepathy I would have thought he told me
“Thanks for calming me down buddy”.
And I think for a second I brought peace to this savage land
And would have good karma all week
It was exciting – I deescalated it
Peace maker Pig 🐖
We could have used you on the blog a couple of days ago
Then he turns away from me and looks at the Jeep again
‘Hey you fat fucking cunt want me to slash your tires”
…So much for peace
I turn around and a bunch of people from the bike lane are stopped looking at the 3 of us
And I go “I don’t know these people”.
And I just keep, riding towards the bridge thinking to myself
‘Ahhhhh New York….”
LMAO!!!
The end
And there was great rejoicing
Piggy – You should have poured gasoline on that fire that was about to explode. This story would have been much more entertaining. Actually, good job, you’re a first class citizen Jordi, well done!
Ehhh…you guys shouldn’t assume it’s over until I say “the end”
It is not over until the lady in the Jeep sings
Goodnight all, sleepy time for me. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Time for me to turn in as well. Peace
I think Stuart Sternberg just hired her to be the Rays PR Director.
JOEL ARMIA, one of Montreal’s best players, did not travel with the Habs to Tampa for games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He’s in the NHL’s Pandemic Protocol. NOT a good omen for Montreal.
OOOT for tonight.
you NY bike riders should be more careful, you shouldn’t be harassing woman who all they want to do is drive from point A to B, after all it is a road for cars not bums on bikes!
ORob logic
This lane is for cars
Stanger, i was just joking, you’re talking about thick skin and you may have missed the punchline dude.

Sorry for the misspell. Was meant to be “thick.” And if was talking about something else…. just let it slide.
Never even registered cause I played rugby for 15 years….. but get what you mean now. 🙂
Piggy,
I was in NYC last weekend and everyone was on their best behavior.
LMAO
bunch a peacemakers here, i guess i can get used to it
funny story Piggy, makes me Happy i dont have to fight the streets with maniacs, but kudos for attempting to civilize the uncivilized
maybe they will learn someday, or move to Boston and get meaner, lol
this story in Boston would have ended tragically IMO
It’s generally fine
Sometimes you get tidbits of anger and rage which is entertaining
more details coming out on the surfside condos, they were built on reclaimed wetlands
the term reclaimed wetlands is exactly what it sounds like, drain the swamp, add fill dirt and in this case, put up a giant condo
reclaimed wetland, especially on barrier islands, is the furthest thing from stable ground possible, it will shift and be subject to water table movement, tides, storms, etc
the building had some questionable permit practices also, paying off inspectors and building officials was employed, and resulted in a dangerous building going up, there are other buildings like that one also, they are subject to fall as well
corruption, and abusing the environment is profitable for the rich, but deadly for the paying residents
Piggy – Does NYC seem more empty these days? Does it seem like a lot of people have moved out?
No
Seems like a 180 from 6 months ago
I know a lot of people who left Manhattan to go to nj, upstate and Long Island even Florida and other states and moved back
Those moves appear to be temporary generally
I think there’s still an open issue abou what happens in the fall. Do people work from home or work from home part time? Some industries can do that without it costing them – and if that is the way it is, people won’t be commuting in as much
But the city seems pretty busy now
Restaurants and bars don’t have restrictions anymore
Gyms dont either
But live performances aren’t really going on
There are less events than 2019 summer in my opinion
I went to the Mets v Padres game a couple of weeks ago and it was crowded
People eat out a lot and now all the restaurants have outdoor space
Yeah, I’ve seen huge crowds at Mets games, that’s great. Broadway will be back soon too, a few months I think, maybe November.
I’m craving live music
When I like at places that traditionally showcase new music they have some performances scheduled for Sept and later
But if you go to one of those lunch delis in midtown (Those places everyone goes for lunch) the lines are shorter
So clearly not everyone has returned
And I wonder if they will 5 days a week
I’m only going in 2-3 days myself
I know my wife’s company is not making people come in to work, as long as they can get done what needs to get done at home, why bother?
When I was there it felt pretty empty in comparison to previous trips but it was definitely livelier than I expected.
Top 3 Landing Spots for Xavien Howard
#1. Dallas Cowboys
#2. Los Angeles Chargers
#3. Arizona Cardinals
Full with the reasons why
https://thesportsrush.com/nfl-news-nfl-trade-rumours-top-3-teams-that-could-trade-for-star-dolphins-cb-xavien-howard/
Chandler Jones is 31, but that’s an interesting swap.
I was thinking we don’t need another LB on that one. Seems we are pretty solid.
He could play some DE too, especially on passing downs
Dolphins doing joint practices with the Bears in preseason. Previously announced would do same with Falcons. We’ve seen that for one game before….. don’t think ever before for two.

This article indicates Howard would be satisfied with being paid more than Jones, referencing Wolfe’s ESPN article (I take it with a grain of salt). If true, that would put him in the 17 mil range instead of the 20+ mil range. Either way, it also indicates we’re not keen on redoing the deal this year.
“Following Howard’s $15.1M-per-year extension, the cornerback market moved for the first time in many years.” Was thinking “Duh X yeah salaries went up at CB”, but maybe was being unkind to him.
And heck yeah he wants more than Byron Jones. Q is whether he wants Ramsey money. So he wants at least that $17 mil.
Wolfe indicates Howard would be satisfied with being paid more than Jones, which would appear to answer that question. The statement isn’t sourced, so as I said, I take it with a grain of salt, but it makes sense to me, and is what I’ve been saying all along should be the solution anyway. The team is hesitant to set that precedent though, with good reason.
Whatever needs to be done all I want is for X to be on the field. Duh!! I know. LOL
Cal it a public service announcement.
Like 300 people are still losing their lives each day. 99% unvaccinated. Only gonna get worse with the Delta variant.
————————————-
“How many unvaccinated Americans are willing to die easily preventable deaths from COVID-19 each day? As the hyper-contagious and potentially more severe Delta variant becomes dominant here in the coming weeks, the 140 million eligible U.S. residents who haven’t been fully vaccinated yet might want to start asking themselves that question.”
““COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone ages 12 and up,” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky said Tuesday at a White House briefing. “They are nearly 100 percent effective against severe disease and death — meaning nearly every death due to COVID-19 is particularly tragic, because nearly every death, especially among adults … is at this point entirely preventable.””
People are tired of the govt unconstitutionally telling them what to do, if they don’t want to get vaccinated that’s their choice.
Why does that bother you so much?
It bothers me because it can kill me and your constitutional analysis is not correct
What’s not correct about it?
It bothers me that one of my friends might die. Wouldn’t that bother you?
The government under the parens patria power to impose things such as vaccinations and other actions for purposes of public safety and in the public interest. It most certainly constitutionally permissible to require vaccinations. I have practiced Constitutional law in Federal Courts
How can someone else not getting vaccinated kill you?
Didn’t say what was unconstitutional
Their failure to vaccinate themselves can cause transmission of the disease to even people who have been vaccinated and you did say it was unconstitutional for the government to tell people to get vaccinated which are incorrect about
And please tell us what the government is doing unconstitutionally in terms of the vaccine. Two interested lawyers waiting.
Never said that
So that was the “unconstitutionally” about? You brought it up in talking about this subject.
Stanger, that they died yes, how they died no
So basically you think you know more than the CDC? I don’t, but understand you have a lot of knowledge not available to most of us.
WTF are you talking about with the CDC?
CDC is short for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It counts the deaths and attributes causes to them. If you weren’t talking about that don’t know what you were.
You said, Wouldn’t that bother you?
I said yes it would bother me that they died, but it wouldn’t why they died, then you brought the CDC into it for some reason
Got you now. Preventable deaths bug me, but I’m just me.
Stuff I can’t control
There is some buzz about Jevon Holland after OTAs. I know it’s not in pads or games, but it seems the coaches are happy with his ability both mentally and physically. Though he’s known as versatile, can play S, nickel and slot, I think he’ll play that deep safety role McCain played a lot. But I expect like other defenders we’ll move him around. He does have the look of a classic FS, 6-1 195-200 with above average range and ballhawk skills. Not afraid to hit and tackle either. Holland could be the sleeper on defense this year. I’m rooting for him. 😉
Well I guess football posts won’t be the topic tonight. 😦
I can play the vaccine huckleberry game if people don’t want football talk? . It would be a misuse of constitutional powers to mandate a vaccine with as little testing as they provided. As far as I know, the vaccine is still under Emergency Use Authorization which doesn’t quite hit mandate status. The people at risk should take the vaccine. That’s it. I’m not sure if people understand how vaccines work anymore which is sad.
The continued proliferation of COVID fear porn is disturbing at this time. The Delta variant has shown zero evidence of being more dangerous than the original version. In fact, according to many epidemiologists and current analysis of diseases, variants are almost always LESS virulent because it’s easier to spread when they don’t kill their host. This also seems to bear out in India, where Delta came from, which has 4 TIMES more people but only has 2/3s the deaths of America. Their confirmed cases are almost to our levels. Just based off the fear porn, their deaths should be much higher. It’s simple math, folks.
The fearmongering is one reason some possibly effective meds like Ivermectin and HCQ were not available to Americans who could have used them to save their lives. The CDC can’t have it both ways. You can’t be concerned with deaths and restrict access to lifesaving drugs. It doesn’t work that way. I’m concerned that we want to inject children with meds just to save people already saved with vaccines. That’s stupid as hell, folks.
+10000000000000000000000, New Age!
Not close on the.constitutional argument. The status of the testing is not an issue on constitutionality.
I don’t think they want to play that game or they would have.
For me it’s pretty simple. Everyone’s own choice to get it or not, and if they die from it, that was the risk they knowingly took. I respect their right to choose…even if they’re a friend or family member…lol
Whether it’s constitutional to mandate it or not, right now, it isn’t mandated, so we each get to make our own choice. What else is their to say? *shrug*
I got the shot. Most of my family got the shots, I have an aunt and uncle who didn’t. They are still allowed to be a part of the family, lol.
I will say, when they visit we do keep wooden stakes and holy water strategically hidden throughout the house…for when they turn.
🧛🧛♀️💘💘⚰️⚰️
LOL @ wooden stakes and holy water 😀
My only problem is with people who think you need the shot after getting Covid. That’s not true no matter what the CDC says. Getting Covid and living is the magical formula.

The more I learn about Holland, the more I like him, and yes… I think he’s going to be one helluva player for us.
Can’t lie: I still wish we’d taken Richie Grant out of UCF (he went 4 picks after Holland to the Falcons, and WE started the Safety run), but Grant isn’t a Miami Dolphin now… Holland IS.
Looking forward to Holland becoming a STUD for us!
Everyone is free to make there own decisions!
Everyone is liable for the consequences of those decisions!
And that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, Wyoming. As a free people, we get to make independant decisions… NOT the government.
That’s been the idea of America as a free people.
Jinx, you owe me a beer on “free people”! 😀
Due to same time I say we just clink. 😉
*clink*!
Pretty HOT here in PA today… and the humidity is always NASTY. We reached 93 degrees with a heat index of 102 degrees… and it’s going to get worse for tomorrow and Wednesday.
Just saw this on my YouTube, from earlier today in New York…
Many would love to be in Dylan Bundy’s shoes as a starting MLB pitcher. But on hot and humid days like this, nobody wants to be in Bundy’s shoes.
Don’t be like Bundy… stay hydrated, y’all.
I know there’s an Al Bundy joke — what with shoes — to be had.

Not close on the.constitutional argument. The status of the testing is not an issue on constitutionality.
———-
I hear ya, Ken. However, being this vaccine has not gone through a rigorous testing envelope, NOBODY — but for a dictatorship — can force it’s citizens to take this vaacine.
We’re already seeing negative results as it pertains to enlarged hearts in many vaacine recipients (regardless of the manufactuer)… and this is just the beginning. What about 2, 3, 4, or 5 years down the road?
We can’t be treated as lab rats with an experimental vaacine, ya know?
This turns into an ETHICAL issue, if not a Constitutional issue.
I’m a HUGE fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Many episodes have been made about ETHICAL issues. What would Captain Picard say about mandating an experimental vaacine?
The COVID-19 vaacine has not met the scientific threshold of being deemed safe, and that’s extraordinarily scary.
And why the hell do I keep spelling vaccine wrong? LOL
This was for you Ken. How can someone else not getting vaccinated kill you?
Because they can transmit the disease to me and as cancer patient and a cardiac patient and a diabetic I have a significantly increased chance for a bad outcome even if I am vaccinated. The vaccine is effective but not fool proof. By not being vaccinated you allow the disease to continue to transmit and mutate
KEN; As a cancer patient also, I totally agree with your point of view.
ALSO, there’s an UNconfirmed report that some schools WILL NOT
play in states where the vaccination rate is in the 35-45% range.
NO PLAY=NO PAYDAY for some schools located in SEC Country.
Doesn’t it mutate within everyone differently? That’s what not full proof means, right?
Just like with many pharmaceutical drugs there are side effects with certain people. What’s good for one, not so much for the other. Somehow this virus made people forget that.
I know follow the science, but there are people of the same ilk denying their own biology based on opinion. That’s not science. Contradictions speak loudly.
Who do you trust?
Tim:
The vaccine is working. States with the highest vaccination rates have the lowest positivity rates and fewest deaths. Also if you prevent transmission you prevent mutations. It can’t mutate if it doesn’t transmit
I think we’re overthinking everything these days. That’s what has everyone at odds with each other. We’ve never all agreed, but for some reason now we must. It’s fucked up!
THE GREAT BUTT-KICKING BY THE BAY IS OVER!! Stupid Montreal acting head coach decided to try the rough stuff against a much bigger and much stronger Tampa Bay Lightning squad. It reminded me of Tiny Tim trying to hit Mike Tyson with a wet noodle—-NOT a good idea, eh???
The game turned out to be just as lopsided as the score, which was 5-1, Lightning. Now, on their fourth try, this franchise FINALLY WINS the opening game of a Stanley Cup Finals.
IF, and I say “IF,” the Habs acting head coach has a brain, he’ll rely more on deft passing and quick shooting in game #2 Wednesday night in Amalie Arena. THAT, along with superb goal tending, is what got Montreal this far in the playoffs.
Meanwhile Kucherov had two goals plus an assist and seemed nearly at full speed after an injury scare in the 6th game of the Islander series.. And, just to put salt in the wounds, the Bolts scored on the power play with less than 2 minutes, putting an end to Montreal’s streak of not allowing a single power play goal against the Vegas Golden Knights. (Above should read “with less than 2 minutes to go in the game).
Well the Old Dolfan needs his beauty rest. I’ll walk the Greyhound and call it a night.
GO BOLTS!!!
I am out. Peace and for those of you who have been vaccinated I thank you
Ken, fair enough. But the annual flu always worked the same way. Blame the people who think it’s over and masks are off now because they got their vaccines. I still wear mine and use disinfectants. A small minority died from COVID as sad as that was, I know people who passed from it too, but it was not the majority like the black plague.
Pneumonia kills lots of people every year. The past year it was all considered COVID. Not true!

Well that didn’t work
Where’s the Citibike?
LOL
Their failure to vaccinate themselves can cause transmission of the disease to even people who have been vaccinated
——————————————
People who have received the vaccine can still catch COVID and pass it on to others. The vaccines give you the antibodies to fight it much easier if you get it. It doesn’t give you some magic forcefield that keeps you from getting it and passing on to others. Man, we have been down this hole a few times.
BTW, there are people who didn’t get the vaccine who may have more antibodies than someone who did get the vaccine.
amazing how many amateur doctors there are, lol
if You have a good doctor, talk to them about it is best IMO
i wont take covid advice from anyone that supported trump, thats FOR SURE
i trust science, but never trust idiot losers that lie about covid for their own deadly agendas
guys like trump and carlson have blood on their hands, for lying to over a half million Americans that died
ill never forgive them for their lies that made Americans die.
trump could not keep himself, his family, or the nation safe, hes a total loser and a fraud.
and this is the main reason that he failed to get reelected, when most other presidents always get reelected
Explain your science then. Biden has the blood of about 250,000+ on his hands then. I agree that he’s probably not going to be reelected though.
trump LIED, thousands of times on it, and even dmitted to lying about it and downplaying it
he totally lied and defrauded the nation, and couldnt keep us safe, or come up with a solution
Biden is getting it under control, but has told 20,000 less lies about it
but even him i would not trust over the advice of my doctor
the only solution for Me, is to have a doctor i can trust, and follow his advice
i did, and it worked
trump, BTW< caught the covid, so i did better than him, because i followed my doctors advice
i never got it, i ASKED my doctor for advice and followed it
he was right, the doctors education and experience, is far better than trumps quackery lies
Is there a vaccine for TDS?
Ask David’s doctor
i happen to think everyone should have a good doctor, they can trust, and get info from them,
thats what worked well for Me, and thats my advice, i wont lie about it and make dumb suggestions
TDS is not why he lied thousands of times about it and caught it
his advice did NOT work for him , or the nation, so he got fired over it
i would never follow a liar and a losers advice
My doctors advice worked! cant beat experience, education, and honesty
lol. “thousands of times”
In January, February and March of 2020, accidental poisonings with household disinfectants were up 5%, 17% and 93% respectively over the same months in 2019. In April, which includes an eight day period from the 23rd of the month to the 30th, following Trump’s comments, the increase was 121% compared to April of 2019. In the first ten days of May, things settled down some, with poisonings up 69% over the same 10-day period in 2019.
https://time.com/5835244/accidental-poisonings-trump/
my doctor idea is looking pretty good when compared to trump, who has no medical experience or medical education
trump is not a doctor, he is not capable of giving out useful medical advice
FROM YOUR OWN ARTICLE:
“Even before Trump’s comments, accidental poisonings from bleach and other disinfectants were on the rise from Jan. 1 to March 31 of this year, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, with people sanitizing surfaces, groceries, smartphones and more as a defense against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Most of the poisonings were the result of inhalation of fumes, but there were ingestion cases as well, typically among children who got their hands on chemicals left out in the open.”
“Critically, association is not causation, and with a frightened public doing whatever it can to protect itself from the virus, the same increases in poisonings might have happened regardless of Trump’s remarks.”
Also, Trump didn’t tell anyone to inject, inhale or ingest bleach or any other chemical. He made some outloud thoughts to medical professionals and the media press ran with it.
https://www.statesman.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/07/13/fact-check-did-trump-tell-people-to-drink-bleach-to-kill-coronavirus/113754708/
https://www.politifact.com/article/2020/apr/24/context-what-donald-trump-said-about-disinfectant-/
So yes, you’re TDS is in full effect.
David,
That article infers something that cannot be proven. It even states the most likely reasoning for poisonings was increased use of disinfectants due to fear and misinformation. Of course people terrified of bad vapors will disinfect much more.
For instance, the CDC has stated that disinfectant has little impact on Covid transmission and was basically worthless. All the promoted cleaning and hoarding was completely worthless, just like cloth masks were. These were things the CDC once promoted tho.
its quite simple, i do NOT trust any medical advice from trump, or his supporters, they are stupid and dishonest
i trust my doctor, and have not gotten sick, and see no reason to start trusting idiots and liars that arent doctors
they really are stupid, i had a trump supporter, who has now gone to desantis tell me yesterday that desantis stopped inflation
i asked him how did desantis stop inflation? he gave me a blank look and changed the subject
obviously carlson or some other nut bag has told him that desantis has singlehandely defeated inflation, lol
wow, idiocracy 2021
Yeah, but who did your doctor vote for I wonder. lol
Disinfectants worked if you used them right, but that requires leaving them on a surface for a while and not spray then wipe immediately, so no one ever follows that rule. Mask weren’t fully effective, but they were better than nothing. I can tell you just from the number of times my kids came home from school either being in contact with a covid kid, or just how few times they had other colds and flus, that the masks do help.
I actually would love for them to continue to wear the things, in school and in public. I still wear mine going into stores and what not, i think there is a huge benefit to wearing them just to not breathe other peoples contaminated air lol
I realize this is a politicized thing, where the masks cant just be seen as a preventative, probably smart idea in general, but to me this isnt at all political, i just don’t like getting sick and quite frankly i dont wanna get others sick. I don’t wear them because a group of nutjobs tell me to or not wear it because im anti that group of nutjobs, i do it because if it reduces the risk by 1% that’s less and good enough for me to wear it.
Not really, https://www.businessinsider.com/cdc-risk-covid-19-surfaces-low-undermines-deep-cleaning-2021-4
Kong, you know personal experience is a anecdotal fallacy. I’m not saying medical masks or N-95s were completely useless but cloth masks are. The virus particles are smaller than the cloth strand weaving. You know some random mask made in a factory or from some old lady isn’t the cure for respiratory disease transmission. There was a Asian study that also concluded cloth masks don’t work in 2010ish.
We need kids and people to spread disease to create better immune systems. Even with the pox blanket rhetoric, Indians truly had massive deaths from our diseases. Basically, a more dangerous “Covid” hit them without any immune response available and they died in the millions. Letting your kids and yourself get sick is how we prevent such things naturally.
My wife works in a nursing home. Cloth masks don’t work. Dr Fauci admitted several times they don’t work. Other epidemiologists have admitted they don’t work. The easy spread of the disease showed they don’t work. There comes a point when evidence just isn’t enough, right? You wear what you want as long as you aren’t helping to mandate I have to wear the damn things (I still do at work).
😉
D, not Kong. Had wrong response set up.
Sounds about right for NYC, im not a frequenter of the city but having heard other people NYC story and my own, of seeing a guy taking a shit not eve out of eyeshot in an alley and then him bitching about me mining my own business, i find that story vividly accurate i could almost see the scene in my mind lol.

So yes, you’re TDS is in full effect.
—————————————————————————-
Its because we are becoming a country of loonies. Mental heath issues are probably as high as ever (Randy can confirm or deny that accuracy), people are doing shit like pouring drain cleaner in their eyes so they can be what they identify as. They are sawing off body parts or having elective surgery remove them to be what they think they because they cant stand what they actually are. People are losing the idea that life is precious and therefore taking their own to avoid the embarrassment or fear of facing these demons. Simple fact is, you cant convince a completely sane person to ingest bleach, there isn’t a person on earth with that level of control over the minds of others. Damn David, you really give credit to the power of Trump, its almost as if you are a bigger believer in him than most here.
Also, like SB7 said, the press ran with it, doesn’t this make them more culpable than Trump? Something said in private my have its own issues but then sharing that to the rest, whose at fault for the spread, especially when they know its bad. Its also not like they reported it as the right thing to do, they reported it to shame him for such a dumb statement. Context here being that that’s a dumb idea, leaving the people that did it off that to be certi9fiable. Nothing about Trump stating that as he did says that he made people drink bleach, or even suggested they do, what it say IMO is that they dude has never used bleach in his life lol, he had no clue that it was toxic, probably because the closest he has ever come to a bottle of it was walking past a closet his maid stored it in.
I am having so much fun with my new modded out Weber Smokey Mountain. Added a steel door, hinged the lid, and got a thermoworks Smoke and Billows stat and regulator. (you can’t top thermoworks IMO)
I’ve always been a charcoal and lump guy because you can’t beat the flavor. I’ve done this shyte manually my whole life because it’s a skill you can take to any location with any setup, and I often am the cook on the road at friends’ and family’s houses (and you never know what you’re getting into with their setups, lol).
So the other day, I decided to treat myself and get the whole works for my smoker so I can just set it and forget it. It’s effing glorious. I am smoking chicken, ribs, and a brisket for this weekend of the 4th. I can’t wait to get that fat rum and coke, and set that bad boy to 225. Will do 12-14 hrs on the brisket, and add the ribs for the last 4 with an hour in a crutch. Chicken will go on the regular grill.
*rubs hands together gleefully* Oh yeah, bring on the weekend!
I only use lump charcoal and i have an egg smoker/grill its a bit manual but once you get the heat right and the venting right for what you going after (ie in this thing if you vent it right you can get a lighter smoke flavor, with a little more grill flavoring) but i don’t mind it too much, take very little adjustments once ya get it going. Sit outside, smoke a cigar while i keep an eye on it.
Ill have to look into that Webber, sounds really nice
Is it set up to mod, and have mods you purchased, or did you do that yourself?
You mod it yourself, but the parts are specific for the smoker. It’s all very easy and lots of ideas online, so they’re basically ‘standard’ mods lol. Buy a steel door made specifically for the WSM by a little company. Hinge the lid with a couple of holes drilled out (the hinge is made specifically for the WSM). Using an angle grinder to notch the lid for probe wires. That kind of stuff.
The WSM are really simple setups, and very moderately priced at around $450 for the 22″. I’m a big fan of Harry Soo from Slap Yo Daddy BBQ. He’s a CA guy who has won literally hundreds of BBQ cookoffs across the country (very well respected in BBQ circles), and he does it with a couple of simple Weber Smokey Mountains. Basically my hero
If you’ve got a big green egg, you don’t need the WSM. The egg can do everything just as well as the WSM can
Except for transporting, lol. You can pack even the 22″ WSM into your car and take it with you.
Yeah ya cant do that with the egg, not even close.
Im not taking my grill anywhere, those fucking lasy asses want to eat my food they can come to my house and at least ill save the effort and gas hauling that bitch over there. Im just as happy going to their house and eating their food and letting them work as i am going over there to flaunt my grill skills.LOL
News coming out about our new playbook is “very in-depth, and very confusing.” They also said it is “bothersome to those trying to learn it
However, Tua is doing great with it
So Tua had issues with the easy playbook, but is doing great with the new one that’s giving others trouble
I’m going to lean to the BS side of this story, that this leaked info was put out to just make Tua look good
Unless its a playbook he is familiar with like something similar to the Alabama playbook. I mean it would be too stupid to steal those concepts to build around considering you have a QB and WR from that system. Didn’t they bring in a guy from Alabama at one of the assistant position coaching positions?
wouldnt
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/31256544/roll-dolphins-miami-making-use-crimson-tide-connections
There comes a point where there has to be a little responsibility on the players to study the new playbook. These guys are making millions of dollars a re year to practice less than ever before. I don’t think asking them to put a little studying on the table is unreasonable.
I could also be a fluff piece for Tua as you stated.
Kong,
Do you think that’s the best low price, smaller smoker out there? I’ve always wanted to smoke things but haven’t even taken the plunge.
Weber is a good combo of cost and effectiveness. I like the Egg but its more expensive and its built upright meaning its cooking is done stacked and not linear, not as easy to get a bunch of stuff oniy at the same time. Still its the best grill i have ever had. It is double the price of the Weber though
If you’re looking for a high quality smoker at a low price, for my money the 18″ or 22″ Weber Smokey Mountain is the best combination of low cost and quality, with the added bonus of being pretty easy to use for beginners.
To be honest, you can also get pretty good results with a cheap $50-$100 bullet smoker from a store like Home Depot. So if you’re just getting started and want to play around without investing too much at the beginning, you can always go that route.
Once you’re ready to buy, it also really depends on how you want your cooker set up. The WSM is a compact bullet. You can get a good small offset Traeger for a few hundred more than the WSM. Or you can get a box smoker in that same range. A kamado style cooker like the BGE (big green egg) is an great all around cooker, but you’ll pay quite a bit more especially if you want one of the bigger ones.
Check out the Master Built gravity series. I have two and they are awesome.

I have the 560 model
Excellent smoker
The 560 series is in the same cost range as the 22″ WSM and is a set it and forget it type cooker.
Thanks a lot guys! I love smoked food but I know nothing about the process outside some hardcore stuff I’ve seen on TV. My wife went vegan for 5 years and that slowed my desire for a bit. I’ll look all those up!
You can also turn your standard grill into a smoker with no investment. For years, I used a regular 22” kettle grill with 2 bricks to create a small walled off space for the charcoal (you can also use a charcoal basket, but the heat isn’t as contained). You pile the unlit coals in your little makeshift chamber, start a half chimney of coals and dump on top. Put a water pan under the coolzone.
Once the grill is to temp, toss your chunk wood on top of your coal chamber, close the bottom vents nearly 100%, then you cook your food in the cool zone. It takes some practice to learn how to maintain the proper temp, but when you learn how to smoke this way, you can manage any cooker/smoker setup because you’re a badass, lol.
New Age, Thanks to Phelon! I got the Masterbuilt Gravity Series 800. Mainly for the extra grilling space and the extras of the cast iron flat top griddle and the front folding stainless steel shelf. I do a ton of grilling and smoking and this is the best I have ever had. It really is a do everything grill for me.
We have margarita night by our pool and I just slap the griddle on there and fire up fajitas with all the fixings.
I just ordered me a rotisserie kit last week.

Can’t match you BBQ gods, but least what seemed to be best meat in my life was in college at our Spring Fest (yeah we called it that). Dig a pit , fill with embers and throw a seasoned pig or cow hind leg in it. Toss some oil in now and then. Then just just then periodically take the plywood cover off and add embers in from the main fire we were beering at all night (least some of us).
Can’t take credit cause all did was deliver embers…… but magic when was done.
““Yesterday we heard from a whistleblower within the U.S. government who reached out to warn us that the NSA is monitoring our electronic communications and is planning to leak them in an attempt to take this show off the air.”
— Tucker Carlson…….guess will lead to some good ratings.
Like these people have never canceled anything before or been involved in IRS wire taps or wiretapping private citizens they shouldn’t have like Trump
When you have a reputation for it…
It’s not really what the NSA does. Would be the FBI on that one. Some pundits said this is just Carlson getting ahead of a bad story about him he knows is coming out. We shall see.
So you’re playing conspiracy theory now
You love that line man. For the record — have no idea in the world why Carlson said that. Will stand by his ratings go up because of it though.
Because you’re doing the same thing you accuse people from the right of doing, then say you aren’t into conspiracy theories.
Last week with the condo collapse
Let me say it again — I have no idea steve. Is that a conspiracy theory?
And what was my conspiracy theory on the condo collapse?
I refuse to own a grill or a pickup truck. They’re mooch magnets.
Smoker is one thing , but doesn’t pretty much everyone with a backyard have a grill?
I’m pretty sure when people immigrate to America, to become a citizen they are required to pass a test and get a grill…
I stopped owning a grill 6 years ago. It has made every one of my holidays easier.
Cav — and we’re flexible. Poles like me make kielbasa, South Americans do skirt steak and Mexicans do fajitas to pass the grill test. Not sure what Indians like Krishna put on to past the test. 🙂
“Then along came our new coach. I disagreed with everything he wanted to do. But…nothing I said was being heard. I couldn’t get the support I wanted.”
— Ndamukong Suh clearly talking about Adam Gase
2 heads butting, that could never get along.
Ever see that kid, with the shit eating grin on his face, that jacked up the price of some drug like 100 times?
This asshole: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/12/31/792617538/a-decade-marked-by-outrage-over-drug-prices
Gase reminds me of him
Fully admit liked Gase at first.
Wow!!! Can anything be discussed without Trump being injected into it? SMH
Did David get banned?
I have no idea. But just like Trump has cult followers, TDS is also a real thing. I know people who still can’t stop talking about him, hating on him. It’s like let it fucking go already!! LOL
It’s transforming into DDS – DeSantis Derangement Syndrome.
Had been thinking not much Trump talk on the board in past weeks. You seeing a lot of it?
You bring him up pretty often. Not the way David and others do. But yes I see Trump mentioned here just about every day.
He’s the just past president and the head of the Republican party. And don’t think have brought him up in 3-4 days. Was only mentioned a couple times today. Seems natural to me given we talk about anything and everything. But will try not to type his name cause now now it bothers you.
The standard $100 Weber charcoal grill works good as a smoker too my friend has it. His also has extra height because of the rotisserie attachment so that helps. I have a grill with a side fire box for smoking it works pretty good too. The key to smoking is maintaining a consistent temperature, pellet grills are good for that.
I just recently got a flat top griddle, it’s a lot of fun I’m like a short order cook on that thing. Makes great breakfast. Mines big so I can fit everything at once the potatoes the bacon with plenty of room to make eggs.
The rotisserie on the Weber is awesome last to Thanksgivings did around 22lb turkeys and they have been the most moist and delicious turkeys ever.
“The standard $100 Weber charcoal grill works good as a smoker too my friend has it.”
Yep, that’s what I was referring to in my earlier post. It was years ago, but my setup was literally just a couple of bricks to create a small separate space for the coals. I’ve got the rotisserie attachment as well which I still use occasionally instead of the ronco when I want to add smoke. It’s a nice little setup.
D, I hear ya. I’m not taking my grill to anyone’s house, lol. They can come and get it if they want it or I’ll use what they have. Unless we’re doing a cookoff, then I bring my setup.
But I’ll take my 18″ to the beach and/ or camping. It fits entirely into the trunk, and it doesn’t need to be plugged in, which is one of the drawbacks to anything with a hopper. One of the best times we ever had was camping on the beach up at Crescent City. Set up the smoker and a bonfire. It was about 20 of us, and we were setting food out all night. Good effing times, brother.
Stanger, post whatever you like. Just pointing out that Trump gets injected into so many conversations that he has nothing to do with.
I get that Trump was a brash individual that rubbed many people the wrong way. Now we have a president that seems like The Wizard of Oz. Does he exist, is he real, is he alive? LOL
More like “Weekend at Bernie’s.”
I was just surprised by your comment cause Trump hasn’t come up much, especially compared to before. And he did his first rally recently and salacious quotes are in the three books coming out that have hit the news. But nope….. haven’t put any of those out.
Like said will try not to talk Trump. He runs again gonna be hard not to though.
I hope he doesn’t run. The Trump Brigade needs to fade away. It’s in the best interest of all of us.
Trump ran on draining the swamp. The swamp and their cronies in the media put out lots of false narrative about him and in turn it rubbed people the wrong way.
Once it got going mostly everything he said was taken the wrong way.
Some proof in that are the videos where they interview people and tell them someone on the left said it, and they agree with it, then they tell them Trumo said it and they hate it.
Not saying he didn’t say some stupid shit, but nothing like what people on the left think
I agree. That’s why I said TDS is a real thing. But there are Trump supporters who view hm as a King or a God. It’s quite frightening.
What’s frightening is the mess that’s in control now, and if Biden should step down before his term is up and that witch Kamala should happen to take over…
My opinion on Trump and his supporters has nothing to do with the current administration. Not a fan of them either. He can’t put a coherent sentence together and she can’t answer a question honestly.
