In the 2020-2021 offseason, the Miami Dolphins signed free agent C Matt Skura, who was not re-signed by the Ravens. I wasn’t a big fan of that move, I didn’t really have a lot of confidence in the Ravens castoff. Twofold reasoning here. When the Ravens let a guy go, there’s a reason. They are one of the best run franchises in the NFL and when they make personnel decisions, they’re usually correct. Unlike the move last year of bringing in former Patriot Ted Karras, this one smelled of we missed out on who we really wanted but we need to take someone. In walks 2019 Miami Dolphins 3rd RD pick Michael Deiter, #78 overall.
Deiter played all 16 games of the 2019 season at LG with 15 game starts. He played 93% of the offensive snaps that season. You have to go back to 2018 for Skura where played 100% of the snaps and each year his play has decreased. Of course it’s easy to say that Deiter didn’t play much at all last season, but 2020 is a mulligan due to COVID-19. There’s no official status yet that Michael Deiter will be our starting C but it seems clear that they wouldn’t mind if it worked out that way. The former Wisconsin road grader will be given every opportunity to take the job, and I hope he does just that.
Coming out of Wisconsin, Deiter played both left guard, right guard and center with the majority coming at center. Deiter is a bit tall for a C at 6’5 but the Dolphins had Mike Pouncey here for years who was also 6’5. Deiter can win at the LOS but has some trouble with second level blocks. I’ll take winning at the LOS for now. Deiter’s draft rating was “Good backup who could become starter” OK Mike, take the job and run with it! Deiter is signed through next season so we can get a good look at him this season and then we have next season to either decide whether he’s our future center or whether we need to look for another. Skura has a 1 year contract which to me says he was just an insurance policy that the team would use if necessary for one season.
As far as the other camp battles, Austin Jackson appears to be a shoe in for the LT position while at LG, my choice for RT Liam Eichenberg has been getting lots of snaps. I wouldn’t read too much into it, I still firmly believe that Solomon Kindley will be the starting LG. Robert Hunt has been at RG where I feel he will be the starter and Jesse Davis has been getting reps at RT. All this is very fluid though, guys need to get reps in and once again, I feel it will be Jackson – Kindley – Deiter – Hunt – Eichenberg when the dust settles. I do think there’s an outside chance that Jesse Davis starts at RT early but I think/hope that Eichenberg takes the spot.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

@WingfieldNFL
Red zone now
Eric Rowe blankets Shaheen, Tua throws away from leverage, ball hits Shaheen on the money but Rowe separates the hands for a breakup
Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Dolphins show pressure, Tua lobs it out for Hollins who comes back and high points it and takes off for the TD. They’re bringing pressure a lot and the 2nd year QB is handling it very well.
Omar Kelly
@OmarKelly
Mack Hollins with a touchdown catch from Tua after he goes up in air to grab it and Byron Jones bounces off him.
Don’t sleep on Hollins. He’s in my top 6.
Barry Jackson
@flasportsbuzz
Biegel and Brennan Scarlett getting first team edge work with Phillips and Van Ginkel injured. Very good camp for Scarlett… Mack Hollins just catches deep ball from Tua, beating Byron Jones. Long TD, misplay by Jones.
Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Zach Sieler comes in and greets the ball carrier right at the mesh point – he has a rep or two or three like that daily where he’s in there IMMEDIATELY
Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Myles Gaskin catches in the flat and puts a move that got him around both Baker and Byron Jones – he too looks faster (Gaskin) to me.
Joe Schad
@schadjoe
Emmanuel Ogbah looked fast chasing Tua Tagovailoa. And Tua looked fast as he scrambled for a first down.
Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Ogbah gets pressure and Tua escapes quickly, outruns the rush for a nice chunk of yards of the other side of the formation – 10 or so — looks fast.
2:30 p.m.: Tua Tagovailoa had a nice 10-yard run after being flushed from the pocket by Emmanuel Ogbah….
Myles Gaskin continues to look very good in the passing game, converting short catches into longer plays….
Mack Hollins caught a long TD pass from Tagovailoa on a ball misplayed by Byron Jones…
Vince Biegel and Brennan Scarlett are the first team outside linebackers/edge players – with defensive end Ogbah – in the injury absence of Jaelan Phillips and Andrew Van Ginkel….
Tua ran into the end zone from three yards out for a TD, but we’re not permitted to reveal the scheme.
12:20 p.m.: Jacoby Brissett led the second team offense on a long drive but it was ended before a natural conclusion (such as fourth down stop or TD).
Second-team defense included Christian Wilkins, Adam Butler and Tyshun Render or Jason Strowbridge on the line; Duke Riley and Calvin Munson and Sam Eguavoen at linebacker; Clayton Fejedelem at safety (Brandon Jones limped off) and Cre’Von LeLanc and Nick Needham at safety.

@WingfieldNFL
Tua throws wide to Durham Smythe who makes a diving catch for the 1-yard TD

Tua fakes the give to Gaskin and pulls it out, goes around the outside for the rushing TD. Good read as the Miami DTs crashed inside quickly (Butler, Davis)
Omar Kelly
@OmarKelly
Tua just scrambled for a touchdown during 11-on-11 from the 2 yard line.
Armando Salguero
@ArmandoSalguero
Dolphins having a mini scrimmage now. Tua just threw 56 yard TD pass to Mack Hollins that resembled Fitz pass to Hollins va. Raiders last year. Byron Jones, in position to bat down the pass, mistimed his jump and watched as Hollins went for the score.
I’m the shittard David, and that wasn’t a bikini it was tape. We all promised not to post stuff like that here.
Could you forward that to my email though? 😉
Just search large girl in tape

Two passes of hurry up drills and Tua has the offense in scoring territory. Waddle and Hollins with the receptions.

@WingfieldNFL
Byron Jones has air tight coverage on a go ball from Tua to Wilson, incomplete
Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Ogbah comes in for a would-be sack, Tua fires to Hollins who pulls it down one-handed
Joe Schad
@schadjoe
Jaylen Waddle made a leaping/diving catch over the middle from Tua Tagovailoa.
Travis Wingfield
@WingfieldNFL
Waddle runs the seam, Tua rips it, Waddle fully extended makes the catch for 15 yards to kick off the two minute period
Barry Jackson
@flasportsbuzz
Jaylen Waddle just jumping for brilliant 20-yard catch from Tua… Will Fuller has now been out 10 days and Jaelan Phillips a bit less. Dolphins declining to give timetable on either. At least both are ambulatory, not in cast etc… Howard did some work today, his most in camp.

Gotta say seeing Andrew Van Ginkel and Jaelan Phillips next to each other on the sideline not practicing is not good news even early in camp as both young players need work.

Terrell Bonds with a breakup of a pass from Sinnett.
So I guess Jones is alright after his earlier injury?
It wasn’t Byron Jones, is was safety Brandon Jones
Oh, I missed that. Cheers.
“Miami Dolphins rookie safety Jevon Holland did something this week that no one has been able to accomplish since the first day of practice at the team’s 2021 training camp: he picked off Tua Tagovailoa.” — that’s a nice first line from a Crabbs’ article. Remember “the world is doomed” articles after he threw 5 on INTs on the first day?

If he’s willing to live with the extra health protocols then his choice. Don’t get it, but still his choice.
I get it! 😉
As long as the player is willing to accept the additional protocols, which Shaheen made a point of saying he would, I don’t see any problem with players that choose not to get the vax. We’re already over the 85% threshold, so the team met has those advantages, and the protocols in place should protect everybody- vaxed or no.
As long as the player isn’t being a crybaby like Beasley, then I don’t see why it should be a problem. Make your choice, follow the appropriate rules based on that decision, move on.
BBM — way to go with the reports from camp. Much appreciated.

No problem! Didn’t feel like working this morning. Though, now I have to drive to next county to do a bond. BBL
This is one of those posts where I have to remind myself that’s a person…
I think the league might have to step in and stop teams from giving 20% of their caps to QBs
I’m worried about these QB salaries

Really he has no relevance in the world now that he doesn’t carry a football!
Hey – I’ve got a 1972 NFL weekly with him on the cover. If I could get it signed it would go with my Griese and Namath mags.
Just sorta amazed that a guy who knifed two people to death and got away with it is bragging about how great his life is to a reporter, but given he did that maybe I shouldn’t be.

—————-
Woah! I didn’t say it like that, man, and I didn’t hire Steve to be my spokesman, either. I did say that I agree with 100% of what Steve has had to say politically (in the past), but he may say something in the future that I fundamentally disagree with.
C’mon, Bro! I see what you did there… LOL
Politically speaking (AND otherwise), I highly respect Steve’s opinions: he and I seem to be on the same wavelength. PROPS to ya, Steve!
I literally don’t see the difference btwn what you said and what I did. And it was just a fun little intro into giving Mike E props. I meant exactly what you said. Does that make it right? Don’t even know what you have a problem with.
Actually, I really LIKED the way you ran the intro for Mike E, man! I just wanted to be clear that I’m not mindlessly obedient to what Steve thinks and his opinions, that’s all. I’m my own man, man.
I’m not going to search out the exact post but did you did say something like not getting into the political discussion but whatever Steve says. You can go back and check if you want.
Steve is a hypnotist.

Was one of the dumbest days of American history, that a man can be found not guilty in criminal court, then be found guilty in civil court!
It says a lot about society!
Should have been guilty in the criminal trial. And then writes a book about how he would have done it with all the details matching up. OJ is a sociopath.
You weren’t a juror!
You don’t know what evidence was relevant and what wasn’t!
That’s what the media told you! Your better than that Stanger
I watched the trial very closely on Court TV. Almost felt like a juror and came to my own opinion. Might be wrong, but that opinion is a pretty informed one.
No significant injuries yet in camp? ALL GOOD!
NOT feeling so good about Iggy running with the 3rd team…
Flores doesn’t give a shit about your draft status!

Depth is paramount
Absolutely agreed.
Key word is team. Let’s hope he figures it out and makes the team and continues to learn and earn.
Sorry Tim
No worries. God is everything. 😉
He is
I wouldn’t worry about 1st, 2nd and 3rd team stuff at this time. Coaches are looking at different combinations.
I would. As far as the OL at least is the two centers plus the other 4 we started today and Kindley. Who else is in the picture? 7 for 5 spots.
Why worry though? The best players are going to play the most snaps. Do you want specific players starting or who the best players are? We also know that players rotate and there are different roles in different schemes.
They’re 13 days into TC, not tackling to the ground and haven’t played any preseason games yet.
I want the specific players looking to start to be the best players. 🙂
Particularly true on the OL. For instance want Kindley there if he deserves.

—————
Yes, it was as though I was appointing Steve to be my ‘representative’ in political discussion (my effort to NOT talk about politics). But in no way did that mean that EVERYTHING he says is what I think. Surely you understand the difference, my friend.
Sorry if my “100%” was misrepresentative, so as to make me seem mindless. I should have known better, as a scientist. Perhaps I should have stated 95%… or maybe 97%.
Why are we bickering over this, again? You made me seem mindless with your words, being I generically stated “100%”. It’s an expression, nothing more. And Steve still ROCKS!
Let’s get past this already, okay?
Never thought you meant everything. If that was the problem then problem solved. Did you think I thought you were turning your political opinions to steve for the rest of your life? That would be real silly. Again…. was just an intro into praising MIke E. Wasn’t about you at all.
Very good.
Stanger, that means we’re cool, Bro. 🙂
I still believe that Lynn Bowden makes our final roster. IMO? It comes down to Jakeem Grant and Bowden for the last WR roster spot. We’ll see…
Without anything crazy happening, I think Parker, Fuller, Wilson and Waddle are locks. After them it’s competition and I think we keep 7. Don’t discount STs ability.
I haven’t heard anything about Malcolm Perry, is he hurt?
People really are saying good things about Hollins. Not only is he a solid special teams contributor but he can play TE too if necessary
Hollins is very good on STs as a gunner. He’s big and fast. Him and Grant are the two I was thinking about when I mentioned STs.
Based on that post with Lynn Bowden it sounds like the new offense is heavy on RPO which fits what Tua does well. We’ll likely mix it up but it sounds like that will be the bread and butter of the offense.
Jimmy Johnson calls for Zach belongs in HOF in his acceptance speech.. 👍👍
Like he said, he knows what they look like.
ExZACHly
FUNNY HOW the confidence in this team rises as our O-Line continues to produce at a high level. Well, better really late than never when it comes to the need for a strong O-Line. Like most of you, I am really geeked at the prospect of this season. That said, I STILL believe we are 1-2 men short when it comes to quality depth. –Perhaps the front office picks up an O-Lineman or two from the late cuts in the various team’s final cut downs.

I HAVEN’T SEEN ONE ROUND of olympic men’s boxing during the two weeks of broadcasting by NBC. But I HAVE SEEN just a bit of “Artistic Swimming” (which is kinda like synchronized doily tossing) it place of televised boxing. Are the politically correct trying to “save us” from MANLY SPORTS on television??? Or are the suburban housewives just stuck on watching all these male divers with miniature bathing suits.?? I’ll let you younger ladies and guys explain this to old Great Grandpa.
Meanwhile I found that a couple of boxing bouts will air on ONE of the olympic channels between 1:00 am and 2:30 am tonight or, er, this morning LONG AFTER I’ve gone to bed. To say that I’m totally dissatisfied with NBC’s coverage of these games would be an understatement. I STILL DON’T KNOW who won the 100 meters dash (not Usain Bolt, who is retired) nor the boxing heavyweight gold medal. Perhaps the local Sunday paper (which is published only twice a week) will have the answers.
HERE’s hoping some network other than NBC will carry the next Olympic Games on TV.
They limited acceptance speeches to 8 Mins this year , it was sometimes needed, but 8 Mins is way too short … missing out on a lot of stories in lieu of thank you’d …. Hope it is a one year thing due to 2 classes going in
AGREE WITH YOU, ‘TOBA!! — However, I’ll take 8-minute acceptance speeches over 8 minutes of synchronized doily tossing ANY DAY!!
No doubt sir … I have watched very little of olympics.. always set PVR and sit down to watch full induction ceremony. Look forward to tomorrow nights class of 2021
The Olympics suck! When all the athletes are proud of competing for their country, let me know. Otherwise, F…. Off
The broad-brushing people do about our country’s issues or all of the world’s problems is the problem. Too many people won’t budge and they all have a broad brush. As sad as that is we are evolving to being more tolerant. It’s just that we have to find a way to cross the boiling river. But we will figure it out. 🙂
We’ve been hearing this quite often. Let’s roll with it until we know otherwise.
“His velocity and accuracy – both on intermediate and deep routes – is clearly better than a year ago.”
– Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson on Tua 👀🐬
He’s another year removed from the hip injury. More conditioning than rehabbing this offseason. It seems like some just can’t realize what Tua had to do to get to this point. Don’t we want his progress to be the case?
He was behind the 8 ball from the beginning and comparisons to other rookie QBs’ performances are silly at this point.
He’s a world away from where he was last year. Sorry, OD, but now it’s time for Tua and the offense to show me!
There was a reason Tua was being touted as the #1 pick back in 2018 for the 2020 draft. We all know the history. Healthy he’s that same talent.
Tua looks outstanding! oh i can’t wait!
i can’t wait until someone gets in his face and then see how outstanding he looks.
hes gonna make you eat your words this year, and ill be there to remind you
I sure hope so, if it was anything like last year i’m sure my words will be filet mignon
OD, don’t you know? Joe Frazier won the Olympic Gold! it was on TV didn’t you watch it?

RIP Bobby Bowden
o man, another great Floridian lost to covid, SMH
that sucks, i really liked Bowden, thanks for the memories and rip Bobby
pancreatic cancer, not covid
covid/coronavirus
what do those words mean? thats what is in the reports of bobby

he did have pancreatic cancer also, and thats also terminal
i dont claim to know whats on his death certificate, i just am aware he had both covid and cancer
thats a deadly combination for sure
Chicago has spent the last few days down seven offensive linemen due to a series of ailments.
interesting, this will be telling of the Dolphins DL
they should have no trouble getting past a decimated OL on August 14th
bowden fought with science and lost, he should have kept his mouth covered instead of trashing the vaccine and science
this is happening all over the nation, people disregarding safety, fighting science instead of covid , and losing their lives
Please show some respect for the recently deceased, particularly when that person did far, far more good in the world than not.
i show respect for the living, that are dying because of dangerous lies against science and vaccinations, im tired of stupidity ruling our lives and deaths.
if anyone trashes science and endangers other Floridians, they deserve what they deserve
im a FL native, and actually care about people that are living in the most dangerous state in the US
1. I don’t know what you are going on and on about
2. I think more than anything you like to hear the sound of your own voice as you endlessly pontificate
David — here’s the thing. You can both show respect for those “that are dying because of dangerous lies against science and vaccinations” and for a famous football coach who passed. You are capable of that.
Covid is mutating, and becoming more dangerous, because some asleep people dont care about their own safey, their families safety, or their community by getting vaccinnated
Bowden used to be the top paid employee in the state of FL< he even made more than the governor.
but he repaid FL with his dangerous rhetoric, that hopefully few listened too
FL is the wrong state to ignore science and embrace danger, it will bite u in the ass

Your covid post is dated Oct 16th, i’m sure it doesn’t take 10 months to recover from covid, you should get your facts straight prior to opening your mouth.
he passed away due to pancreatic cancer, or so i read.
you may be right, im not positive
he had beaten pancreatic cancer about 10 years ago, but its tougher to beat as one ages, and catches covid also
covid and cancer, thats tough to get past at 91 years old, i do respect the good that he did, but not the other
pointing to covid for every death as a way to support an agenda is lame.
it makes you noncredible
agreed
but when someone has covid, along with other illnesses, the combination is almost impossible to get past
and when someone has multiple illnesses, its tough to figure out what really did them in
the only thing im certain of, is he trashed science and the vaccine, which is EXTREMELY LAME, and dangerous
and then he got the covid
Orob, the agenda for all of us should be LIFE and wellness for ourselves and our families
if science can help us live , that should be the agenda IMO
i plan on using science to try and stay alive in the most dangerous state in the nation, so far so good, lol
its not easy watching people drop that maybe could have been prevented with common sense safety
you are using the death of a great man to support your hard left position when that has nothing to do with it.
we all want life & wellness, some disagree with others ways of going about it.
staying home and locking down is not the answer as states that have tried that didn’t work, all it did was put them in financial ruin.
Covid will run its course, it’s inevitable. locking down only delays it.
i have had covid.
I also refuse to get in a debate over left vs right. think as you wish
im not politicizing LIFE, there are many that are doing that, example, like desantis blaming the mexicans at the border for the surge of covid deaths in FL, SMH
i lived here all of my life and never knew FL had a mexican border
my agenda is Life, and the well being of ourselves and our families, we have evidenced that life doesnt thrive under lies and anti science leadership
i wish personal safety had not got hijacked by people with agendas, and they profit from it,
when the agenda should be safety first, common sense safety
there is no left or right on tombstones
Orob, You said You got the covid, were you vaccinnated? did u wear a mask around others?
btw, i used a mask, got vaccinated, and DIDNT get the covid

Holly Shit!!! That’s how I pictured him this morning. Mind reader, lol.
i agree with Orob its lame to make this health issue to suit an agenda, and its much, much worse if that agenda includes profiting from others demise
i dont make a penny , or gain any power with my viewpoint on covid, the goal for me isnt profit or power, its life
unfortunately, some others may think profit or power is more important than life and integrity, we should be fighting the covid , and making legit attempts to eliminate it IMO
it should be illegal to profit from pandemics, by hurting or mocking people for profit
I almost spit up my coffee laughing. Someone called them self lame and don’t even realize it. lol
i dont think of Orob or myself as lame to have opinions on covid
he doesnt have an agenda for profit or power on it, nor do I
you wasted some good coffee over nothing, lol
millions do not hear any of the bloggers here, millions are listening to the ones in power, that have profit and power agendas
I didn’t say Orob was lame, but you don’t get it. That’s ok.
Personally, I think the science has yet be nailed down on COVID. As much as they try to get a handle on it, and profess that they do, the game keeps changing. If you want some interesting facts, check out some other countries, especially those that are densely populated like India and their vaccinate rate is among the lowest if not the lowest and look at how all of a sudden their cases have dropped dramatically. Then look at Iceland where their vaccination rate is the highest and yet now their cases of COVID are spiking. Just because some douchebag like Fauci has the pulpit, he’s 180ed so many times now even his head is spinning. The masks seem to effective at not spreading the flu, flu cases are way down, but it doesn’t seem the same for COVID which has to make you think about the efficacy of the masks making you safe. Why is the flu virus down to almost nothing but COVID is still raging?
understand, but we also see good science applied on covid in australia and new zealand,
they took this very serious from the beginning, and have very low rates of infection
there is evidence that science can help, i feel its important to try to help, instead of try to profit or scapegoat
Yeah, look at India and explain how their drop off is occurring. Explain the science to me
Just so you know, I’ve been vaccinated and wear a mask every day at work because I have to. Here in NJ, during the summer the mask ban was lifted but we’re headed right back to it now and while now it’s just strongly suggested, it will become mandated sooner than later. I would hope that more people getting the vaccine would cut down on the new cases but not sure if that’s precisely how it’s working. I could be wrong but I don’t think they expected vaccinated people to be spreading the virus, I think they thought the opposite.
the virus has changed, and so has his recommendations
he is saying we should be vaccinated, and points out that most of the new cases are among the unvaccinated
the new variants are much more contagious and deadly, the situation is fluid and he is recommending vaccination so it doesnt keep mutating
is that good information ? sounds better than blaming china and mexico, i got vaccinated and didnt get it
https://www.deseret.com/coronavirus/2021/8/7/22612038/delta-variant-uk-india-vs-us-predictions
true, it didnt come from China and Mexico
Are you talking about the Delta variant or the virus itself? The original strain of COVID most definitely came from China
I deleted my post. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!!
You too Doggy!
Mike, i cant explain whats going on in india except they are struggling with this mightily
i doubt that india had masks and enough vaccines, obviously they have been begging for more vaccines and not getting enough.
but the real question is how do we stop the virus, whats the solution? our leaders are scapegoating and downplaying, that has not proven effective at stopping the covid
im glad You are alive and well, and hope for all of our sakes we make it through this
That article that Phelon put up explains it somewhat but it’s a lot of guesswork, not quite science as indisputable fact. I think that’s what has folks who don’t want to get the vaccine second guessing it even more. I understand that, it’s definitely not going they expected it to go, even with the higher vax rates.
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/08/50-ways-india-s-last-mile-covid-19-responders-are-leading-the-way-to-a-just-recovery/
Mike, from the article that Phel posted,,,,
Well, recent data suggests that new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the European Union and the United Kingdom experienced a massive spike at the beginning of the delta variant wave. However, soon after, cases dropped significantly due to high vaccinations and, it would appear, immunity gained from being infected.
Indeed, the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases dropped by 50% in the past week alone, according to Fortune.
======================
the vaccines came from science and technology
Well, it also said cases fell of the table in India too and that had nothing to do with vaccines, they can’t get them for whatever reason
read the link i posted on India, it shows that it can be drastically reduced by sound management practices. they are improvising and finding some success.
As trusted local actors, social entrepreneurs have demonstrated that swift action in four priority areas can enhance reach and scale in the difficult to reach ‘last mile’.
Their efforts hold vital lessons for other regions battling new waves of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A list of the Top 50 last-mile responders in India has been launched by the World Economic Forum’s COVID Response Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs.
I know how some felt about this situation, but this is good news for us.
alright! great news!
are You ready for some football? august 14 against the bears is PS game 1
https://www.nfl.com/news/xavien-howard-dolphins-agree-to-restructure-cb-contract
As part of Howard’s new contract, the CB had $1 million in Pro Bowl incentives and $3.5 million in additional incentives added to his 2021 year, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. With all minicamp fines rescinded, Howard can make upwards of $16,285,294 in 2021, which would make him the league’s highest-paid CB this upcoming season.
In addition, Howard gets $500K in per-game roster bonuses and $100K in workout bonuses moved to base salary and guaranteed money in 2022. His $12.975 million salary in 2022 is guaranteed for injury and will be fully guaranteed by the first day of league year, Rapoport added; $6.775 million of the CB’s 2022 salary is fully guaranteed at signing.
Howard also received assurances from the club that it will renegotiate a new deal in late February or early March following the 2021 season in line with market based on the cornerback’s health and 2021 performance, Rapoport reported.
https://www.nfl.com/news/xavien-howard-dolphins-agree-to-restructure-cb-contract
renegotiate a new deal in feb or march? wow, Howard won the lottery
Based on health and performance, so if he gets injured or doesn’t have a great season, it may not be renegotiated.
gotcha, yes, it could work against him, but the overall deal is amazingly good for him
top paid cb for this year, and over 6 million guaranteed in 2022
Cool we retained X ! That’s the best thing I read this morning!! 👍🐕

Great news! Now we can just focus on whether or not Tua sucks, and how much injuries are going to play a role in the outcome of our season.
lol thats much easier than worrying about Howard
all indications from training camp is Tua looks good, i guess we will see on august 14th a little bit more
I’m still trying to figure out the definition of the word “outstanding”…..as applied to Tua.
I don’t think anyone on this blog ever came close to stating Tua was outstanding except for Orob…..lol.
Maybe, steveccnv can figure X’s contract out to help me understand it. It’s seems like it’s 2022 season is incentivized by playing in games, i.e. earned. If he’s not playing in the game, he’s not getting the bonuses. Or something like that? Did he really get extra money?
LOL….I’m clueless on this contract stuff players and the NFL.
Please help!!!! lol.

For 2022, Xavien Howard gets $500K in per-game roster bonuses and $100K in workout bonuses move to base salary and guaranteed. The full amount for 2022 of $12.975M is injury guaranteed with conversion to fully guaranteed the first day of league year.
lol it IS a bit confusing, but at the end of the day, im betting its alot more money, because Howard was holding out for more money and more guarantees, but signed it
For 2021, he gets an extra mil for making the prowbowl, and up to another 3.5 mil based on incentives, so he can make an extra 4.5 mil this year if hits those marks (we don’t know yet what the marks are.)
His 2022 salary, I believe prior to the rework wasn’t guaranteed (all his guaranteed money will have been paid out by the 2022 season.) The Fins guaranteed approx 6 mil of his approx 12 mil for 2022, and on the first day of the league year 2022, that 12+ becomes fully guaranteed, plus they gave him some additional bonuses for 2022.
If he has a good 2021 season, then they will rework 2022 to increase that 12+ mil salary to something closer to the top of the league.
I think those are the key elements of the contract. I’m sure Steve will get down and dirty with the details if I missed anything and as new info comes out.
Thank you CK…..that helped a lot. I thought I was close to that understanding. Couldn’t find the incentives as it just seemed became more guaranteed, like a guarantee of next year even if injured and not playing.
Couldn’t figure out 2021 incentives, but you noted above, hasn’t been released.
2022’s incentive is to do well in 2021 and not get hurt, then, “show me the money”.
Something like that?
That’s basically it, Krishna, and yeah good point on his 2022 being fully guaranteed for injury, which I didn’t mention. 2022 is fully guaranteed on the first day of the new year anyway, so that injury clause is giving him some extra protection THIS year. If he gets injured this year, 2022 is fully guaranteed.
I should say if he gets injured this year, and can’t play next year.
Sometimes I feel like sitting on a doughnut 🍩🐕😆
LOL….Sorry Phindog….the article you posted was much better at explaining the deal…..Nice!
Thank you!
We don’t know how hard the incentives are to reach, but we know 1 mil is for a probowl selection and the entire 4.5 mil he can make this year appears to be all incentive based. Sooooo, if he balls out this year he gets paid and he gets a renegotiation next year. If he gets injured or has a poor year, nothing really changes. Seems like a decent compromise to me. I know an incentive based increase was mentioned multiple times on this board.
they caved wow!
just goes to show how valuable the CB position is to this team, and the disappointing fact of where they drafted Iggy.
Dude ?
at this point Iggy should be vying for a starting spot, it would appear they blew that pick
Maybe….time will tell.
Ok David, you are promoting vaccine and propping up Australia and New Zealand.
“understand, but we also see good science applied on COVID in Australia and New Zealand,”
What’s their “good science”?
Do you realize, of the countries reporting, that Australia and New Zealand are at the VERY bottom when it comes to people vaccinated?
Australia, as of yesterday (8/7/21), is only 17.61% vaccinated.
New Zealand, as of 8/3/21, is only 15.96% vaccinated.
Australia believes they are in the middle of their Delta wave and their hospitalizations and deaths are about 40% lower than the spikes experienced during their original COVID waves at again only 17.61 vaccination rate.
What’s this good science you speak of?
i was referring to what i said, they took it seriously from the beginning, before vaccinations were available, but used sound management to keep the cases low against the first wave
but you are correct that they didnt get vaccinated enough, not enough are complying with vaccines, science, and now are experiencing a delta variant uptick in cases
NSW authorities, who had been reluctant to put Sydney into a lockdown, said lack of observance of rules has been a problem.
“What we have happening right now is some people are not complying,” NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said.

Great news on X
BBM, can you explain how blaming mexicans and selling anti faucci beer coozies, has solved Floridas problems with covid?
Dammit, we went back to football and I wasn’t paying attention. Now I fucked the blog up again. lol
lol and u avoided my question ,
i gave examples of where science helps, lets look at the evidence that scapegoating and profiteering from slamming science has helped to solve the pandemic
its ok, there isnt any evidence that blaming mexicans and selling beer coozies helps to eliminate the covid
that is the wrong strategy to defeat covid
Bad Dog the Bounty Hunter…bad! Go to your kennel!
So X is signed, Tua is killing it in camp and all someone wants to talk about is Covid. On a football blog
BBL…..
😆
Wait.. Gotta ask, Do they make a mask for hulk or do you just use a bead sheet? 🐕
Effin autocorrect.. Bed sheet.🖕
Hulk had to wear a mask for over 14 hours straight yesterday as our flight had an extensive delay and you had to remain masked at the airport. We were masked from the moment we left the resort until we got to our car. Hulk wore a bedsheet for different reasons 😉
Don’t worry Krishna will correct all the misspelling 😆
RIP Bobby Bowden.
Now I am getting pumped for some football. I always believed X was not going anywhere. You can’t let a talent like him go in his prime.
It would be nice to stick to football now that actual activity is going on. I’m glad we got X on board and I fully support him as long as this is the last time he pulls this shit until the next contract. Noah seems to need a lot more time and is maybe a bust. It happens.
Tua is looking really good which is honestly the most important thing for any team. I hope to rub some stinky stuff in some Tua hater’s faces whom I know. Parroting the media (as they do with everything) with no knowledge of how things can change in an offseason. I’m seriously considering some bets on Tua vs Herbert, Tua vs Fitz, and even Tua vs Burrow (and I really love Burrow). I think he’s going to shock the…ignorant.
the season is nearly here, and today is great news that Howard will be an integral part of our teams success
dare we mention the word playoffs yet, lol of course its too soon, but its not too soon to have that as our goal, and do everything possible to achieve it
this team won 10 games this year, when some of the teams that made the playoffs had less wins, like washington for example
afc east is a tough division, so the dolphins have to get just a little bit better to make the playoffs
Very true!
I think Rob is currently playing a kind of game that I have some familiarity with. He already made a big stink about Tua, so he’s sticking with that.
If Tua busts, then he can enjoy shouting from the rooftops about how right he was all along. And if Tua lights it up, he knows we’ll be having some good times and good teams ahead, so that will be some nice seasoning to help make the crow he has to eat more palatable. It’s a kind of win-win for him, lol.
Rob loves being a contrarian and stirring the pot. He loves finding the negative in everything but he is a legit fan and will grumble happily if proven wrong but never admit that he was wrong 😉
Being a legit fan is what makes that game work, because if you’re a true fan, then you don’t actually lose if the team is doing well, you were just wrong, lol.
GO XAVIEN!!!
GO PHINS!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
And the USA has rallied to take the gold medal lead. Woohoo!
And my mother-in-law is finishing my cabinet refinish today.
I woke up to nothing but good news today. Really nice after finding water under a section of my new flooring yesterday, lol.
Byron Jones i set to make 16.1 mil this year. If Howard hits his incentives, he’ll make appx 16.3 mil this year.
Here are the incentives:
I like that it is incentive laden. I think the team really won out in the negotiations. If X hits the incentives you pay him happily. If not then you pay him the contract that both sides originally bargained for
The real science says that overpopulation will cause violence to rise, and bring about disease!
But Homo Sapiens like to think they above all that Natural stuf!
🐵 🐒 🤷♂️
I think I just heard Piggy say, “Stupid humans!”
And I love the incentive loaded contract!
Pay for play!!!!

Tua tries that endline in-cut that has been successful all day – this time to Hollins – Xavien Howard is step for step as the ball flies by incomplete. Hollins couldn’t even attempt to make a play on the anticipatory throw. Great coverage.

Today, he’s 219.
Media room was impressed.
Great news on X! Let’s GO baby!
So it’s 3.5 mil in incentives, not the 4.5 I originally saw reported.
1 mil – pro bowl or all pro (quality of play)
2.5 mil – 90% playtime threshold (health)
Base salary for 2021 was increased from 12.075 to 12.785 for the 17th game.
good to hear that, I hope Wilkins has a great season
Coach Brian Flores said the organization was “excited” to have reached the agreement but did not disclose details of the contract.
“In any negotiation, compromise is important,” Flores said. “We want all sides to be happy. We feel like that’s the case right now, and that’s how we’ll move forward.”
