This is it folks! Last game of the 2021 Preseason. Coach Flores has already put it out there most starters will sit so this is the opportunity for all those players on the roster bubble to make their case to be on the 53. It’s also a good chance to see what the depth looks like because during a season, injuries always rear their ugly head and you need solid depth to stay ahead during the season.
Jacoby Brissett will most likely see a fair amount of action and it’s important for him to show he knows the offense and can run the team in Tua’s absence. There’s always the question as to whether the Dolphins will carry 2 or 3 QB’s, my guess would be just 2. Reid Sinnett will end up on the PS and give the Dolphins another precious roster spot. Recent moves have made the WR depth much clearer. The Dolphins placed 2nd year WR Lynn Bowden Jr. on IR ending his season. The Dolphins also waived WR’s Robert Foster and Isaiah Ford. Veteran Allen Hurns was placed on IR earlier so the only bodies left are Will Fuller (Inactive Week 1), DeVante Parker, Albert Wilson, Jaylen Waddle,Preston Williams, Mack Hollins, Jakeem Grant, Kirk Merritt and Malcolm Perry. 9 WR’s , 6 for week 1. One has to go and I feel it will be Malcolm Perry. WIll the big bodied and oft injured Williams hold off equally as large and ace ST’s player Mack Hollins? I don’t think so. Merritt has had a strong preseason so he has a leg up, but there is still game 3 for Perry to change that. However, it looks very much like we’ll have Parker, Wilson, Waddle, Hollins, Grant and Merritt for the first game against the Patriots.
I expect us to carry 4 TE’s, Gesicki, Shaheen, Long and probably Smythe due to his blocking abilities. Myarick could steal his spot, and who knows, maybe it’s Shaheen that gets cut, but it sure seemed like they like Shaheen. Cethan carter also earn as a spot as an H-back/FB/TC, or maybe Long goes on IR because of his injury.
At RB, I think we’ll carry 4 into the regular season, the clear choices right now are the first 3, Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Malcolm Brown. After that it’s a real tossup as to whether 2021 7th RD pick rookie Gerrid Doaks makes it, or veteran Patrick Laird or a surprise like Jordan Scarlett. Game 3 will probably have a lot to say about which guy makes it!
On the O-line, still not decided (as far as we know), but I’m sticking with my prediction of Jackson-Kindley-Deiter-Hunt-Eichenberg. Still possible that either Eichenberg starts at LG over Kindley and Jesse Davis starts at RT but I believe it will be the former. Jermaine Eluemunor has also been released. You have to figure we carry at least if not 9 OL so the aforementioned 5 plus Davis, Skura, Little and either Coleman or Pankey.
On defense, despite not seeing a lot of Jaelan Phillips, I still think he’s going to be a major part of our defense. AVG looks ready to be right where he left off last season, and that’s a good thing. I really love our depth at LB with AVG, Baker, McKinney, Phillips, Roberts, Eguavoen, Riley, Biegel. Not sure if Griffin makes that final cut, especially since Roberts has been activated.
On the DL we have the usual Wilkins-Davis-Ogbah, followed by Sieler, Jenkins, Butler and Strowbridge. More than likely that last spot will be up for grabs between Jason Strowbridge and Jonathan Ledbetter, unless we carry 8 DL, which is possible. Benito Jones is still in the mix but Tyshun Render was moved to LB where he faces tough odds against the previously mentioned group.
The Dolphins strong secondary will be led by All-Pro Xavien Howard and Byron Jones at CB along with Nik Needham who refuses to give ground to 2020 1st RD pick Noah Igbinoghene. Good on Needham, who just keeps working hard! The safety group looks Rowe and impressive rookie Jevon Holland, followed by vet Jason McCourty, Clayton Fejedelem (ST’s ace), Brandon Jones (2020 3rd RD pick), Jamal Perry and Nate WIlliams. Probably 4 will make it here among the safeties with 6 CB’s. Perry and Williams are as good as gone leaving perhaps a battle between Fejedelem and Jones or we carry 5 safeties. CB’s should be Howard, Jones, Needham, Igbinoghene, Coleman, McCourty who can play both CB/S
Special teams will be standout PK Jason Sanders as well as newly acquired P Michael Palardy. Jakeem Grant and Jaylen Waddle as well as Noah Igbinoghene will handle the return duties. Long snapper Blake Ferguson returns.
There will always be some surprise cuts, some of the players I have making the roster won’t and some I have being cut won’t get cut. It’s fun to see how things shape up, let’s just hope that injuries don’t make these decisions for the team.
GO DOLPHINS!!!!

First?
Sure looks like it! Congrats!
Thanks for keeping the new blog posts going Mike E. Great job!
You’re welcome, and thanks!
Damn, I should post before I read….
Thanks for the write up Mike!
You’re welcome
Great take on how the roster will settle out, but don’t think it is Preston versus Hollins. Think btwn Williams and Merritt. Williams might not play but think they keep him even if just to put on IR after so can have available later on in the season. All comes down to his health.
Also have more Eich love than you, even if only cause more questions about Kindley.
I get what you’re saying, I think Hollins can give you what Williams does but he’s a gunner on ST’s too so he’s safe. Merritt is more like Wilson, Grant and Waddle and if Merritt makes it, still an outside chance Wilson doesn’t.
I think Eich will start the season as RT2
I think they will get him in on some 6 man lines when they play big and he will beck up Davis at RT to start the year IMO.
Have I mentioned yet that I love that our bye comes in week 14? When have we ever had a late season bye that benefits us? Oh, when they cancelled our bye and made us play 16 in a row!
They moved it up on us last year too. Remember we were supposed to play stej get a bye then play them again but covid messed it all up
that’s right! and it wasn’t even OUR teams covid issue that f’d it up!! F the NFL
Eich is nursing an injury so I am almost willing to bet he doesn’t start game 1.
I didn’t feel like it was likely to start with, now i dont think it will be deep in the season before he takes over but starting right off unless his camp was amazing he wasnt going to, and that first game at LG wasnt good.
Chicago rushed for 13 yards in the 1st half. ATL went for 78 yards on 15 carries in the first half including QB scrambles. 20 of the 78 came on one Franks scramble.
Trade Grant to make room for Merritt

Maybe you are right, but not so sure Cam starts. Media is all about Mac Jones all over it and Newton blowing it bac with Covid protocols. But may just be the thing to write about of the week. Cam sure did crush us good in the first Pats game last year.
—————–
Stanger,
If Mac Jones starts, all the better for us!
You might be right in that. What this D is set up for is rooks who want to pass in their first NFL game.
I am already looking past the Patsies* (I know Flores and the team won’t) I am looking forward to the Bills game week two. I want REVENGE I want DOMINATION. I want to cause them multiple losses by putting key players out with injuries!!
Those fuckers humiliated our team putting up 87 points in two games and making us look like clowns.
#KilltheBills!!
I’m 100% with you, Rockphin!!!
I’ll say it right now — Bills are a better team. Way it rolls some times. But on any given Sunday……
I don’t want to call them better I prefer at this point to just call it more established, we’re about a year and a half or so behind them and gaining quickly.
It would be nice and inspiring to beat them week 2, I like our chances 🐬💥💪
They are pushing for the Bowl. So think they are taking us for granted. Sure would be nice to take them down in a Heat game.
A lot of time i do not agree with the ideas they have about this or that one will get this or that big because when i look at the conditions I’m like i just don’t see it. You get use to the conditions that cause them to swell up or peter out. I’m not saying that it isn’t always true, and always follows the same patterns, but its really hot and humid and that means its hot on the Gulf and conditions are right for it to strengthen.
I think this one is going to definitely grow pretty significantly, the plus for me is that it looks like its going to have to cross the toe of the boot of Louisiana and that will weaken it bac down some. I’m also not directly on the coast so it will weaken even more before getting to me, but i do think its gong to be in the 3-4 range by landfall, probably still a 1-2 by the time it gets here. It would be better overall if it does this, because if it turns even more east, dodges the toe, ill be on the weaker side of it but it is going to clobber BBM and that areas of the coast between Mobile and P’cola.
That’s the other problem with the gulf, it has to hit land somewhere
D — biggest fattest storm ever Irma was predicted to hit me for days. Morning before it was supposed to hit our area in the cross hairs it swung West. Naples didn’t like that swing at all, but point is too far out to tell. And that includes if everyone’s favorite buddy wind shear joins the party.
D – Hope you’re right and it turns out to be all hype and nothing more
Stanger put me down for one for the Fest
Not me though………lol, just kidding
Lol
Game ticket and tailgate plus night before I do. Hotel stuff don’t. Psyched you are coming though.
Who is staying on the beach and who is staying near or at LaQuinta?
No I said the blind man, staying in Miramar
I want to be near some of the groups of folks coming in for it.
Most are by the beach, Toba is going to La Quinta
I will look for the beach, thanks. Where you going, I know you want my music mix
I’m in the Dolphin Hollywood right next to Neptune
Yes I do want your music (son nodding NO to piggy)
Lol
Would hotel Sheldon be good?
Yeah that’s right there
What about the Ramada?
That area has really taken a step up since folks stayed there, but wouldn’t be as close to the beach where most of the crew goes.
I just booked the Hotel Sheldon. 1 room for me and 1 for my mug.
You’ll be right next door to us. Cool!
Awesome!
So my father in law changed his internet and service provider today. The service tech was this huge guy. It turned out to be Christian Wilkins brother
Hope Pops didn’t get knocked across the room once the deal was done lol
That’s cool
Apparently he played football at Southern Connecticut State University
That explains why he’s up there, I was beginning to wonder if your FIL lived down in South Florida
That fucker better not have been wearing a Pats hat
No Pats hat. He said he gets down to see about 4 or 5 games a year
Was he a big dude Ken, or was he like 5’5 160? lol
Big dude according to my father in law. My father in law had no idea how he was going to fit behind the desk and counter to get access to the ether net port
Probably just lifted the house to get behind the desk

I believe Tua’s RPO is why they drafted him over Herbert
_________________________________________
According to Ken, Tua doesn’t run RPO’s???
We did not run very much RPO last year. I doubt that was a factor in drafting Tua
Because he was hurt and didn’t know the PB (pops boner or playbook)
Expect a lot this year, that will be his bread and better
Those runs last year that had no chance will be passes this year
We’ve seen it in PS already
A short pass this year will have the chance to go for big gains
Difference being when it’s thrown and ball placement
Always liked this song!
Haven’t heard it in a looong time. Nice choice!
Thak you, Mike E. Always appreciate you!
Thank you…oh my…
You’re welcome Krishna!
Fun ending to the Eagles vs the Jest. One of the very few times in my life I actually rooted for the Jest at the end.
Eagles were up 1 with about 1:05 left. Jest have the ball with no timeouts.
Jest fumble, Eagles defender picks it up, no one around- and runs it into the endzone for a TD.
I’m yelling. “You should have gone down idiot!”
Amazingly, the announcers also understood this and talked about it.
Jest get the ball back down 8.
Hail Mary with no time left, Jest score a TD.
Jest convert the 2 point conversion. Game over- Tie.
The Eagles player returning the turnover literally cost his team the win with his lack of football intelligence.
It was awesome to see the consequence of a bad football play, that usually doesn’t end up in a bad result, immediately impact this game.

We still have it booked but not confident we will be going … looking at 1000.00 forCovid tests alone … sept 21 is next border announcement, figure that is my Shit or get off the pot date …
Stanger if ya need confirmation before 9/21 I would say no so far … if shit changes will reach out or buy game day
This sucks Toba! Fuck COVID!!!
Well there are now two former NFL probowler QBs coaching HS in this area. Brett Farve in Oak Grove MS and now Philip Rivers at St Michaels in Fairhope AL. This area already puts a lot of players in the NFL and now they have coaches who have played at the NFL level. Man, what advantages those are.
I figured this might happen before final cuts.
Damn, I didn’t realize our game is tomorrow instead of today. lol
Guess I will watch some college football today.
Interior OL including playing center.
That and our leadership is utterly incompetent. Maher has good points as people sob over pronouns and search for never-ending systemic racism.
…and people whine about our leadership and how mask mandates are one step removed from turning us into slaves…
Not that I’m sticking up for our leaders per se, but his whole point was compare anything we whine about to the shyte that goes on elsewhere, and realize how good we have it here…
That we do
lol
Amen

Ida looks serious!
Rob, you’re a construction guy, I have a question for you.
Is there any practical purpose to flathead screws other than they are a pain in the ass? Why aren’t all screws cross tips?
flat head are easier and quicker most of the time, depends on the application
Huh, it must be my own competency that is lacking. I’m not much of a handyman guy. Whenever I try to screw a flathead using a drill, half the time I can’t stop it from slipping.
The Bills started Josh Allen against the Pack today.
We had two sixths before so back to the standard in that round.
“Greg Mancz, a seven-year NFL veteran, got his start in the NFL with the Houston Texans and served as the team’s starting center. As the years have passed, he’s become more of a utility player; bumping around between the guard positions, center and serving occasionally as an extra tight end.”
That he can play center means Cameron Tom is probably gone . And if I was Skura wouldn’t be signing any long-term leases either right now.
I can only find one college game:Nebraska v Illinois
💩
People around these parts might be scared off of an Oregon pass rusher
But this guy is the real deal
Plays really blow for such a tall dude. He has good closing burst and can reallextend his body to make that tackle. A bit of an arm tackler but looks like he has sting hands because he doesn’t seem to lose them once he gets hands on them. Looks like a nice all round pass rusher and edge setter.
I though at first that this was the dude that LSU had coming to them that dropped his commit late and went to Oregon instead but after looking at his bio I think was a different player and he just has that Cajun surname that maybe threw me.
97 looks pretty good at DT as well. That whole DL looks pretty good to be honest.
Sounds like coaching staff is still not happy with OL
Why?
First traded for Greg Little and now Greg Mancz. They at least didn’t like what they they had at #7, #8 and #9 on the OL. Gotta figure this late that those guys make the team.
Yeah but that’s just depth
Depth for sure — neither of those guys sounds like gonna compete to start. Nothing wrong with getting solid back-ups though.
It’s about the time of year when I start looking at jerseys on nflshop and salivating
What do you guys think?
Based on your history? Get a Josh Allen jersey.
As the major domo of the Samurai, was sorta assuming Waddle would catch your eye. He should be here at least 5 years.
“Multiple executives from teams not directly involved in the discussions tell PFT that there’s mounting chatter that Watson will be traded in the coming days.
The two finalists are believed to be the Panthers and the Dolphins. (The Broncos and Eagles also had been linked to Watson.) If it happens, it would turn things upside down for whichever team gets Watson.”
— Mike Florio with the story that just won’t die.
Mostly because he keeps it alive
He has his top level sources — “I’m telling you Mike this thing is going down and it will be to the Dolphins. Just make sure to get the news out before Tua’s next practice.”

It would be just like the Fins of old to pull the get rich quick trigger
Mike Florio is one of the people who won’t kill the story

Piggy: you in for Fantasy Football this year ??
LOL — poor Jan, I mean Mike Florio
Sure toba, I’m game
Kewl thanks.. I have rescheduled for Thursday 8:00 PM EST. Will send out league email shortly.. good luck
Thought Martinez from Nebraska was a good QB
He can’t hit the broad side of a barn today, bad ball placement, overthrows a wide open WR, possible td, then on 3rd and 2 the sea parts in front of him, he doesn’t see it and fumbles for a pick up 6
Thibodeaux is supposed to be the top Edge/DE in the draft next year. Projected to be a top 5 pick.
I have a feeling we will hear a few more names came up before now and April
And the plot — made up or not — thickens. Now we are beating out the Panthers.
That’s a CRAZY price , especially for someone who could be suspended indefinitely
It’s about what was said they were looking for before. Which should mean no F-ing way. But ever watch Pawn Stars? Dudes say they want like $15k all the time and then quickly fold to taking like five hundred bucks. We are talking the Texans.
This is all true… I like Watsons skill set , but I am liking what we have seen from Tua in PS… no need to take on a 30M /yr salary at this point .. MAYBE straight up for Brissett and a WR , but that would just be cutting Tua off at the knees
Never said was in favor of the trade just that cost will be cheaper than what was in the tweet. And your point on the salary bothers me more than the picks.
I will be pissed if we give up picks for him.
Hard to believe Parker is in year 7 .. wow time flies
So we’ll trade a boatload of picks for Watson, and what? Basically give up on this season? Or is Watson going to come in and have it all figured out in the next two weeks? Oh, that’s assuming he can even play this year. I would guess we’re not also going to be keeping Tua, right? Or is the plan to keep Tua and Watson?
I just don’t see how this can make sense.
I agree with this , as well as flat head screws SUCK 😎
LOL, glad it isn’t just me
Nope not at all.. and also why are the slots not deeper?? That might make them better but … nope
🍻
And all assumes any of this is true. I’m guessing Watson would like to come to Miami and Watson’s agent got on the phone. Like Watson the player though.
Not Happening
I am curious as to why it won’t die, especially after Tua’s preseason. Florio could be pulling it out of his – – -, but I think it is more likely coming from somewhere.
If he is traded it will be to Carolina
Oh No!
I may have to change my win/loss total!
Is that allowed???
I think this is all fun and games. How many times in the past when we had a lot of cap room were we the stalking horse for the agent of some free agent?
I guess that is one possible answer to my question about why it won’t die…
Sure gets US stalking LOL
Or talking
Don’t get me wrong. Watson wants to get traded, Watson’s agent wants to make that happen and the Texans want it to happen at some point. So it will not die until happens. Q is why the Dolphins involved. My guess is they were interested before, Watson would waive his no-trade clause for them, and they at least still pick up the phone.
If we were to trade for Watson I would think we’d have to give up a major asset to make cap room, maybe Howard or Jones
I wouldn’t even give up Howard Jones
No one is to blame 😎
I’d give up either one for Watson, QB is the most important position on the team, he makes us contenders right away.
LMAO at Toba
I don’t think it’s happening, but just talking because it’s the topic, his cap hit is appx 16 mil. We have about 6 mil in space, if I remember correctly, that was the last number Steve gave us.
We would need to pick up 10 mil. We may gain some after final cuts. And part of the agreement with Watson could include reworking his deal to get him under this season without losing anyone.
Also, I would have to assume Tua doesn’t stay, his cap hit is nearly 7 mil, so that is most of it right there.
I think we have about 3 million of cap space
there may be a light at the end of the tunnel after all.
the skies may be clearing!
If the Texans want to trade Watson, first of all he has to agree, secondly the team he is going to has to have draft capitol and a need, that eliminates a lot of teams.
Also the fact that we have Flores, Miami plugs all those categories very well,
I can understand the speculation.
Ken, this says 6 mil. I don’t know if it takes today’s trade with the Ravens into account. I haven’t looked at that guy’s salary.
https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/miami-dolphins/
The other day M13 posted something about 2.9 left on the cap. Maybe something changed
Steve countered that saying it was 6, and he usually has a good handle on the cap numbers.
Also, regarding today’s trade, does that mean Skura may be out? We can’t keep only interior guys as depth, we need some outside guys too.
Not for sure, but he is less locked in than before. They have another guy who can play center. And seems pretty much everyone we have can play guard.
The tricky part of trading for Watson is that you aren’t sure he can play this year, or least all of it. Sorta means you keep Tua. Man would that make for some headlines. Not just talking local….. national.
if any trade happens i would think he’d be clear of any legal battles, otherwise he would have been traded by now
The only way it makes sense is if we keep both. And that doesn’t make sense, lol.
There will be no decision on his legal status for quite some time
I don’t believe the story nothing Flores has said has ever I dictated that we are interested and aren’t confident in Tua. These pussy fart beat reporters just circle jerk over stories like this. Still if the do turn out true I’m packing up the aqua and orange and I’ll start following a new team for a while because they will have just set up back so considerably for no reason I’m not going to be down to continue watching a dumpster fire burn.
They will have to gut the entire FO and coaching staff before I watched again if they pull something as dumb as that
Agree
Would pretty much scream “we have no condition what we have done last three years “
Or confidence
when we start winning with him, all this will go away quickly
we could get watson for a bag of donuts, maybe the Texans need to get him off their books as roster cuts are coming up.
if he still has legal troubles his value is diminished
Ken says:
August 28, 2021 at 4:44 pm
There will be no decision on his legal status for quite some time
______________________________________________________
How would you know that?
money has a way of solving legal issues and is usually done behind the scenes
There are criminal investigations involved on top of all the civil lawsuits (those you can settle with money).
Investigations and charges are different animals
True, but until the investigation is concluded how can his legal status be clear? Same goes for the NFL investigation, which can end up with him suspended even if not convicted of crimes.
“The Texans are willing to trade him but their starting point virtually ignores the idea Watson is in legal jeopardy or could be suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, one league source told Outkick.
The Dolphins, meanwhile, remain open to acquiring Watson for the right price.
The Dolphins are willing to risk acquiring a quarterback who may not be available to them even this year because Watson is obviously very good and won’t turn 26 for another two weeks.”
—- Armando Salguero back at work…. and if he gives the Dolphins having interest credit I listen.
I want nothing to do with Watson.
I’d take him for the right price, but the case against him is an issue and should prevent him from playing this year
Bottom line is Flores/Grier willing to listen to trade talks, but aren’t giving up the farm, and at a bargain they could make a deal
Tua starts this year no matter what
No way in hell any reporter knows what our FO is thinking, if they were actually serious about an offer close to 3 1s and 2 2s
Flores will listen to any team about a trade, doesn’t mean he’s motivated
Salary cap seems to be holding steady at 6m, Hurns and Bowden no longer show up
Greg Mancz’ contract with the Ravens was only 990k (87k net), adding him to top 51 and removing Long puts us at 5,927,000 under
Biegel another guy we’re hiding on IR
Second year in a row.
That sucks about Biegel
Shaquem happens, too bad for Biegel
sahquem won’t make the roster
Can we put a guy on IR even if they have a minor injury? I guess the answer is yes, since Bowden’s injury wasn’t even a tear.
Does the player have any power to stop that? I’m just wondering how IR works in this regard, is there an agreement with team and player, can the player fight it so they don’t lose a season, can the team do whatever it wants ,etc?
I’m just wondering why fringe, high potential players don’t get stashed on IR by teams more often. But I’m starting to think it through, one thing to limit that is you still pay them more salary that counts towards the cap than cutting them (usually), so you wouldn’t want to spend too much current cap that way.
It’s a great question and one don’t have an answer for. Have to assume they can’t just say “Hey you just bumped into that table means an IR/redshirt year for you.”
I guess that is really my question, can they essentially do that? Or does the player have to basically ‘agree’ to it? Does there have to actually be a real, verifiable injury?
Before they changed the rules and you went on IR and were done for the year. Am sure many a player was ready to play the last 4 or 5 games but couldn’t. Would have been taking up a roster slot before then though.
These rules are all covered by the CBA though. Doubt the Union would let IR get abused without some kind of arbitration or something.
Ravens RB Dobbins was just carried off the field into the tent. Leg injury. That would be a big loss for them if it’s serious.
Armando is full of shit like he normally is.
A flathead screw would sit flush to the surface it’s screwed into, I think you are asking about straight or slotted screws. They are the “original” screw, Phillips came in and practically made them obsolete along with square tips and star tips.
Screw it
Yeah, that was my ignorance of the correct term. When I wrote the original post, I added the comparison to cross tip to show what I meant because I had a pretty good idea that flathead screw was wrong. I’m talking about a slotted head screw.
I also call aluminum foil ‘tin foil’. My wife always pokes fun at me about that one, lol.
I am with you on tin foil, lol.
I call the screwdriver a flat head screwdriver and the other on a Phillips head screw driver.
If you don’t like flathead screws maybe you should try using a real screw driver, that fits, not the one size fits all one, that you bought at the dollar store🙄
According to what I just read, one of the big reasons the Phillips head was invented was because of the common problem of lateral slippage on slotted head screws. It’s not just a made up thing by people with the wrong size screwdriver, lol.
Lol, slotted or flat head screws are useless and have no use in a civilized society.

It all depends on who ya go by. Some (including pro writers) go by Spotrac (me, for instance) while some (including pro writers) go by overthecap.com (Steve, for instance). Ya also want to be sure that either site is updated to account for the most recent transaction(s).
The fact of the matter is that the NFL keeps the true numbers, and rarely are Spotrac or overthecap.com exactly correct on projections (meaning, newer salary transactions that the NFL has not officially released).
Every so often, the NFL releases the ACTUAL figures, and both Spotrac and overthecap.com make corrections to reflect the new/real figures.
In short, both sites are very good, but neither is 100% correct until the NFL has its latest salary releases… and at this time of year, it’s obviously a pain for EVERYBODY to keep up. Expect everything to be updated after the final cuts down to 53-man rosters, just prior to the beginning of the regular season.
Hope that sheds light on the differing figures from Spotrac and overthecap.com.
I wouldn’t worry about. The team handles it anyway. We act like the team doesn’t know what they’re doing with the cap.
Us Phin fans are just used to our FO screwing everything up for nearly two decades. I truly feel we’re in capable hands today, thus I totally agree with ya.
Since Grier took over and brought in Flores we’ve had no cap issues.
I think the difference is spotrac counts the 4 players on IR, even though they don’t officially count that until the 53 man roster is complete
That’s entirely possible.
Cool, man. I just looked at overthecap and see they do have our space at 2.5 mil, so you may have been closer to the right number. I didn’t realize the two sites had that big a disparity in the numbers.
Doesn’t matter who’s closer, man: official will become official, and both sites are probably off a bit.
It matters in the context that Ken said 6 mil was wrong because you said 3 mil, lol. I assumed you responded to show that you weren’t necessarily wrong, but were using a different source. I was acknowledging that.
Son : yea that does make it clearer cause yes Flat head screws can be Phillips
Steve : it’s more a case of a lot of slotted screws do not have deep slots, so regardless of how good a driver ya have they still slip out of the shallow slots …

On Watson, it seems the other 3 teams have backed out, and since we haven’t said, we back out, by process of elimination we’re the so-called front runner
It’s all bs
I’d say we have to like that we’re still trying to upgrade the OL. Very young group and trying to find the right guys.
It’s not just OL, Flores/Grier are relentless trying to upgrade anywhere they can, and why we seem to be linked with Watson, even though there’s nothing there more than a let’s see what we can get him for

It matters in the context that Ken said 6 mil was wrong because you said 3 mil, lol. I assumed you responded to show that you weren’t necessarily wrong, but were using a different source. I was acknowledging that.
—————–
I’ve got ya, Bro… and thank you! I also wanted to acknowledge that “I” didn’t say $2.5M, Spotrac did. 🙂
… meaning, don’t give me the credit or the discredit! I just posted what I saw and didn’t do anything special. 🙂
Gotcha. I think we’re on the same page now, lol.
YUP! CHEERS, mate!
🍻😎
The idea is to use the cap to field a team for the season, not just keep hoarding it forever so it looks good. How does that help you win?
The whole conversation about cap only came into play in regards to having space for Watson, and how much we have as of right now. And yes, most of us believe (know) we aren’t trading for Watson, but that was the topic.
Okay I can see that. Trading for Watson doesn’t make much sense to me.
1. His legal issues and where there is smoke there is fire – character issues
2. Trade compensation
3. Taking on his contract
4. We don’t need him, we have a young QB we drafted and are developing with the rest of the young team
Tim, I’d say at least 98% of us on this board agree with you, lol.
LOL @ Kong
I’m right there with ya. Like I said, though, most of us have been programmed to watch the cap due to the failures of the last two decades.
We’re in good hands now… I’m very confident about that. 😀
I’ll give my $.02 on Deshaun Watson to Miami… NO.
I heard Tom Lady* speak to this very matter once the rule changed… and I LOVE IT!!!
So the first comment is a guy saying Williams better make the roster because he already ordered his jersey.
Really? You thought to yourself “I need a Dolphin’s jersey. Who’s should I order?”
…palm to forehead…
“Duh, Trill Williams, of course!”
LOL
😆 That’s FUNNY!
I don’t get the hype for Watson. IMO, he was only average to slightly better than average his first 3 years then had a great year in 2020 only cause they were mostly playing from behind and passing a lot. He holds the ball to long, IMO. Sacked 174 times in 54 games with 30 fumbles but only 10 lost.
Also, he isn’t the most accurate QB either. Watch some Will Fuller highlights and see how many under thrown balls Fuller has to wait on or come back for.
Not only all of that (which I agree with you, 100%), but Roger Goodell is going to nail his ass to the wall. PLUS, BO$$ RO$$ absolutely wants nothing to do with a locker room distraction or media circus ever again.
^ I think he’s fools gold.
Same thing I said several months ago, when I compared him to the Jags QB, that had great numbers when trailing big too
Same thing with guys like Herbert, great numbers not much winning.

The screws I like come slotted with a vertical smile, not these Phillips and flathead screws. Just make sure your screwdriver is properly protected.
Say whaaaaaaat ??? 😳
The whispering eye. LOL
Yessir!
Oh god never mind. 😂
I see somebody got the joke! LOL
Took me three reads though😊
The more, the better! 😀
There are a mere three things I’m a wee bit concerned with regarding our team…
1) Our O-Line. And yes, depth is VERY important. We’ve added (via trade) yet another just today.
Hopefully, all will be well… but it’s telling that we’re still adding to our O-Line even today.
2) Our stable of RBs. Now if our O-Line does its job, our stable of RBs should be able to do their job… so consider “1) and 2)” as a two-for-one kind of deal.
3) Our (lack of) pass-rushers. Great selection in Phillips (he’ll screw the opposition up in time), but it’s asking a LOT of him to become Cam Wake overnight. I really hope Ogbah continues his positive trend… and he still hasn’t been re-signed.
All-in-all, I think we’re looking extremely good heading into the regular season… and I’m still predicting a 13-5 regular season record… with the caveat of none of our essential players go out for the season.
We saw a very vanilla pass rush in the PS other some typical blitzes. You want to see guys mano a mano. This team believes in scheming a pass rush with all the versatile players they continue to bring in. Don’t sleep on Van Ginkle. Ogbah has had an offseason that looks primed for the big payday. I think our core interior DL on the field all game makes a big difference. PS is still practice, just in a game setting.
Bro, I don’t really care about what we see in the PS. I suppose what I’m saying is that we still (at least not yet) don’t have a 10-sack/year guy on our roster. Love AVG, Ogbah, and Phillips… we just need to see the growth once the bullets become live (regular season).
I’d LOVE to see it happen! We’ll see!
I concur, lol. Was thinking if Gaskin or Ahmed go down we suddenly become thin at RB in regard to depth and play making ability. We have no other “weapons” waiting in the wings at RB.
If other teams lose two of their top RBs what do they do? They have an endless group of quality backs? You can’t build a roster thinking about injuries, especially two deep?
Yup, right with you. I’m not lobbying for us to sign Le’Veon Bell, but I’m sure he could be had on the cheap at this point. I suppose the question becomes: has Bell finally been humbled after his recent stints with the stej and Chefs*? And equally importantly, is he still able to be an effective RB right now, or has he really let himself go?
Not worried about the RBs, but agree they’re somewhat tied to the OL
Pass rush will be fine, a lot of it will come from AVG, Wilkins, Davis and Butler. What Phillips will do is prevent QB from getting outside on his side, Ogbah will hold down his side, so the middle will feast
OL isn’t going to be what we’d hoped for 2 months ago, but Tua will navigate it just fine
I didn’t realize, Tampa Bay is bringing back all 22 starters from their Super Bowl team. First time in the Super Bowl era.
Crazy, right? I was very surprised when I’d heard that as well.
If you watched the NFLN you would have heard that 9 times per day since FA. LOL
I’ll better that MF
I predict 14-5🤪

Dammit Canuck!
17-0 PP
13-4: Son, 🐷, Manitoba
12-5: M13, Steve, Bookman,Tim, Mike E, Wyo
11-6: CavKong, Stanger, BBM, Twice
10-7 Rockphin
8-9 Rob
—————-
Steve! You’re movin’ on up from 12-5, Brother?!! Alright!!!
Just catching your slip, you said 13-5, instead of 12 and 5, so I said 14-5
Only 17 games, so…
Whiskey talking, it must be, sitting outside at 104 degrees
M13, to me Bell is just a name at this point. I didn’t see him being the guy who was coveted years ago. Looks like a shell of himself.
Entirely possible. I really wouldn’t mind getting an insurance policy at the RB position, and perhaps Bell isn’t the guy.
Does Flores play it safe and keep Laird or take a chance on Doaks or Scarlett?
If it’s Scarlett, Tua has influence
I’m not sure we’re 4 deep at RB other than if they want to keep a fullback. I think we could bring back or add backs like those guys in times of trouble. Are they really 53 man worthy? Laird is versatile and plays STs. Not sure Doaks or Scarlett provide that.
Think it depends on the availability of Cethan, if healthy he’s our RB 4, TE 5

…and I’m still predicting a 13-5 regular season record
——————-
Steve, dammit, man, this 17 game season is really screwing with me!!!
I meant to say 12-5!!! LOL
Lol, my assholiness coming out
No, man, you’re good! I funked up! Thanks for catching my mistake, Bro!
My thoughts tonight were… alright, we used to play a 17 week season… we added a week… I add another week… I knew I predicted 5 losses… must have said 13 wins…
You see what I did there! LOL, and good catch! 😀
So it made you go to 18? LOL
EXACTLY, Tim! LOL
Crape myrtles don’t bloom long, my second one finally bloomed with one little sprout, the other has been blooming for the entire summer, like both did last year
Did I mention I was outside and drin…
MF13,
I like your 13-5. It means we are one win into the playoffs and waiting for either 13-6 or 14-5. Either way, it’s the best Ive seen in too long.
I appreciate that, man! Thank you!
You turned my lemon into lemonade! 😀
LOL, Tim. Thankfully, I stopped watching NFLN years ago.
Last time the jets looked this good in PS they finished 1-15
I’m looking forward to sweeping them again this year to reclaim a winning record against every team in the AFC East…the natural order.
I think our game plan with the RBs will be opponent based and game situations. I see Gaskin and Ahmed catching a decent amount of passes too. Brown I view as an interior runner and blocking back in big spots. Do your job!
Absolutely agreed. We have so many ‘looks’ that we won’t be starting or using the same players week to week. We WILL be having opposing DCs up all night on a weekly basis.
At relatively full strength we have much more skill players this year than last year. With Tua moving much better and more in sync with all of it, our offense should compete most weeks.
Even many hours after the bogus report by NBC’s Mike Florio, Deshaun Watson is now trending #13 and climbing, nationwide, on Twitter… and yes, it’s about him to us Phins. SMH
These ‘alphabet’ networks have too much power and sway… and don’t get me started on politics (I’m not going there tonight).
WOAH, IF true… I don’t believe it, personally…
Barry Jackson follows this guy, as does NFL Draft Diamonds.
If he’s the only one reporting it don’t you say really? What about Ian and Adam?
I’m not sure someone can claim the voices in their head as “my sources”. Then again, who’s sources would they be?
Hmm, that’s deep…
Total bullshit
I don’t like the Rams new helmets
Is this them?
No, but it should be 🤣🤣
Tim and CavKong, I just DM’d Barry Jackson regarding Deshaun to Miami. Yes… like Armando, he opened the “Bat Phone” for me.
Barry can send you a screenshot of the trade contract and I still wouldn’t believe it, lol.
No speculation I read or hear will make me believe it until I see it actually happen. It just doesn’t make sense in any way I can fathom.
Total crap about Watson. All I can say is if we do trade for him, I’ve been wasting my time writing about this team all this time
