Here is the 3rd down throw to Waddle. Tight coverage on the sideline outside the numbers

  2. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If Tua tried to launch more of a rainbow throw he likely gets his arm hit from behind which could be a sack and a fumble or it gets deflected for a possible pick. He had to throw more of a bullet with less arc to make that play. Less arc is less distance. It’s pretty simple.

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

It also looked like a broken coverage and safety was coming over late. Had to get it to Hollins as quick as he could.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yes you see it on the replay that he knew he had little time to get rid of that ball because of pressure and while Hollins was still wide open. It was a great play.

  3. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Didn’t see Waddle wide open on that throw.

we are all just fans, the guys that run this team and the owner know way more than we do, they see these guys on a daily basis.
    so it begs to question????
if tua is all that…….why is the owner talking to watson?

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Based on Ross’s track record he was probably ready to make another bad decision mean if Ross is your measuring stick your analysis is in trouble

do you realize that all your post support your agenda? and your agenda is supporting a 4-7 team?
i feel bad that Tua has you brainwashed.

        you’re in need of rehabilitation

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

        your reply is outlandish.
the reason ross is talking to watson is because grier and flores want him too, and they know they made a huge mistake with tua

Some one on Twitter is flipping plays so you can see how they look if Tua was right handed

    —————-
    THANK YOU, PIGSTER!!!

I recall stating back in ’19 — regarding Tua — that it’s so difficult (at least for me) to evaluate a lefty QB… it just looks plain weird, and I’ve always felt that way when even seeing the likes of Michael Vick throwing.

When ya see Tua throwing ‘right-handed’, it puts things into a better perspective… again, at least for me and probably many others.

    GREAT THROW by TUA!!!
    HELL YEAH!!!

Alright I have had enough fun. I am off to the gym

  8. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

As much shade as is thrown our QB’s way these days reminds me of good times in the past….. and this guy.

  9. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Brian Daboll said this about the accuracy of QB’s and Tua,
“All of them can drop back seven steps and hit a house with the ball. Some of them can hit the door. A few can even hit the doorknob. Tua can hit the keyhole.”

  10. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Interesting from Joe Schad — “The Dolphins used three tight ends at least 64 percent of the time on Sunday.”

Never even heard of such before, but might make ORob’s case that Gesicki is really just a receiver.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah it’s really a 2-TE set with Gesicki as a Receiver. I’ve also been saying Gesicki is a receiver. Everyone knows that. He’s not the only TE in the league like that either. But that doesn’t mean when he’s on the field he tips off the defense on what we’re doing. And he’s not the guy responsible for our offense not imposing our will on teams in the run game. There are 5 other guys who play a big role in that. 😉

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Yep — given that stat sounds like Gesicki in or not tips the other team as to what is going on no more or less than whether you have a slot wideout in or not. And that “what if” is there for every single team in the league.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep! Gesicki is not an easy cover for opposing defenses. He’s big, he has long arms, can jump and high point the ball, and he can run. We all know he has good hands and can make spectacular catches. Those are his strengths.

His weaknesses are he’s not very physical blocking and he’s not a quick twitch guy. So on short routes, he’s not going to make too many moves to turn a 3-4 yard catch into a 10 yard 1st down. He needs to get more vertical in routes. He runs like a horse, not a quick cat.

  11. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I do not think we’ll make the playoffs even though I’d love to see something special like that happen. So heading into next season, this team regardless of any FO and coaching changes, has to decide who their future QB is going to be and build around them. If it’s Tua build around him. If it’s Watson (don’t want him) or someone else, make the decision and build around them. Do not allow trade rumors to linger on and on and especially into the season. It’s not healthy for anyone.

  12. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Gesicki was giving away our position when he lined up as a T.E., because Gesicki’s lack of blocking skills signaled pass to the opposing D.

when that happened teams would blitz and dare Tua to beat them, just like the 2nd game where Tua was body slammed.
it was a cluster fuck! we got killed!

That’s why after the Buffalo game you didn’t see much of Gesicki, they didn’t know how to insert him into their game plan, then they moved him to the slot in passing situations.

bottomline, you cant give him 59 mil, you can’t franchise him for 15 mil.

he’s not that valuable to this team. and that’s what he will be asking for.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Tua got body slammed because Jesse Davis didn’t even touch the edge rusher. We do run when Gesicki is at TE. But it’s not just him when we struggle. We struggle to run the ball consistently with any TEs in there because the OL struggles too often.

Teams aren’t daring Tua to beat them, they’re daring the OL to block them. They also don’t worry about being beaten over the top because we can’t block it and none our WRs scare them deep other than Waddle. That’s why he’s never single covered on deeper routes. There is always a guy over the top. They take there chances with giving Waddle the short stuff and umbrella him. He has the quickness and speed to get the first down or get to the pylon for a TD here and there. But teams don’t want him running one on one in the open field. So they don’t allow that.

Nobody else on our team makes them pay for that except for what looked like broken coverages on the deep passes to Ford, Wilson and Hollins. Other than that, we haven’t beaten anyone down the field. We don’t even attempt them often because they’re not open and we rarely have time to throw them.

  13. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Over The Cap is projecting the 2022 TE franchise tag amount to be $11 mil. Why are you thinking will be so much more than that?
    https://overthecap.com/franchise-transition-and-rfa-tenders/

  14. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

so how much do you pay gesicki as a slot rec? is he more valuable than Robert Woods? ceedee lamb? Cooper Kupp?
if you are going to pay a slot rec, get a real one.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

All three of those guys are more than just slot receivers. Gesicki also lines up wide on the boundary. He plays the slot, H-back and goes in motion inside too. It’s not just one set position. Gesicki is not the reason this offense isn’t consistent. It’s too young and too new simultaneously with lots of other nonsense hanging over this team. He’s actually bailed us out of some tough down and distance situations.

  15. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Goedert is a much better T.E. than gesicki

  16. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

ORob, I don’t think Gesicki is going to get Goedert money and agree Goedert is a better overall TE. And I don’t really don’t know how our team views Gesicki moving forward. But he is going to get a nice contract. Goedert got a 4 year $59M extension with $35.7M guaranteed. I can see Gesicki getting 4 years $45M with $25M guaranteed. It might not be with us but I can see him getting that somewhere. His market is for teams that want a big pass catcher. Everyone spreads the field with pass catchers.

  19. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So does Jevon Holland look like a traditional FS or what? He has the instincts and speed to be a deep safety, but he also plays a role as a LOS guy and blitzer. I think we hit on him for sure. He’s just a rookie but his upside is nice! 🙂

Like Waddle and Phillips too. The 2nd season will be huge for all three.

I do not think Grier and Flores will be fired. Unless we finish the season 0-6 or 1-5 or something like that. At 4-7 I can see us going 3-3 the next 6 games. 7-10 is not a good look but it’s hard to come back from 1-7.

The 4th year of Grier and Flores cannot be the same as the 2021 season. If you wanted to bring in a new GM and HC who would they be? I have no idea who the answer would be.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s hard to come back from 1-7, but why is it acceptable to get to 1-7 in the first place? You have to look at the whole season. I think they both deserve a lot of blame. We’ll see how we finish, but that 1-7 has to be taken into account just as much as the 6 out of 9. We started shitty last season too. You can’t keep digging this huge hole and expect to have a good season.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

we have a young team, they have to get use to playing together as a unit, you just don’t come out of the gate competing with vets.
a lot of rookie and 2nd year starters on this team,
you also don’t keep a revolving door as far as coaching is concerned, if you feel a guy is doing his job yet your record doesn’t reflect that do you fire him? who’s to say the guy you bring in to replace him will be any better, doing that sets your team back.

  20. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    where’s wyoming been?

  21. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Rob – No doubt starting over hurts, but if you don’t think the guy you have is right, you don’t keep him for 10 years to have a stable team that doesn’t win. I have my doubts about both Grier and Flores. I think Flores needs better coordinators and I’m not sure he has the connections to get them.

  22. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

    Orob,
The coaches are responsible for the fact that this team is young and inexperienced. They’re the ones who made the call to move on from valuable vets on the o-line and defense. They’re the ones who promoted inexperienced OCs and let them rule by committee.
You can’t ignore the coaches are the biggest reason for the failure of the beginning of the season followed very closely by not having a proper backup for Tua.
That being said, I’m not one to say fire them. I even said so earlier in the season before the light came on for the team. They need to take a long hard look at what they did wrong and correct it. So far on defense it looks like that happened and it’s starting to show on offense, but barely. There’s only so much this team can do with this o-line and they still haven’t done that. The thing that is going to take this team to the next level offensively is if Tua puts in the work and makes this team his, and becomes the leader it needs him to be. He’s barely put in a full season worth of games. The things that are holding him back are poor coaching, the speed of the game, command of the offense, and confidence to lead the team.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I don’t think speed of the game is affecting Tua. Maybe the first couple games, but his decision making has been pretty stellar the last couple games. He made one bad throw for an interception last game but I was just that…a bad throw. Even Tom Boy makes those occasionally.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

By speed of the game, SB means how quickly defenders are on his ass after the snap. lol

      • sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

He’s good when he can get those first couple of reads quick, but he still struggles when he has to let plays develop and it’s not because his o-line isn’t giving him protection. He’s not at his peak yet and he’s still making certain throws late. I’m not expecting him to be because I know he hasn’t gotten the playing experience. He’s definitely improved from last year, but he’s still got work to do in that regard.
Those plays where Orob claims the ball is taking forever to get to the receiver due to a weak arm are because Tua is making the read too late and then making the throw. Even Kurt Warner has pointed it out.

  23. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

ORob – I don’t have the time or inclination to engage in circular debates with someone who is either (a) trolling, (b) saying things just to be contrarian, or (c) makes shit up to fit his unfounded narrative. I think you are probably (a) because you do occasionally, when you’re not being an ass or playing victim, say something that is accurate, factual, and pertinent.

My guppies are always free agents.

  24. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

as for the coaches/ flores, it’s up to ross to hire these guys, he’s consistently failed, and the one thing all the coaches have in common that ross hired was, they were all rookie hc’s. if we do get a new hc, i sure hope that trend doesn’t continue.

that said i think you have to stay the course with flores. ross always gives a minimum of 4 years to hc’s, flores is in his 3rd year, one could argue that the first year shouldn’t count.

that would give him till the end of 23 to produce.

  25. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

So if i don’t like a player on this team that someone else likes, say for instance Tua, and i criticize him. The person who doesn’t agree with my position on the matter feels somehow insulted and in return attacks me personally and calls me names.

Is there something wrong with this picture?

I don’t like a player’s ability on the field of play and I voice my opinion on the matter and that makes me a troll? And open for insults.

That’s a very stupid way to think, I just cant phathom why someone would feel that way?

As far as the continuation of the subjects, there are other posters who are reasonable who challenge my position in a polite manner. Am I supposed to not reply back to them?

I’m trying to learn what I’m supposed to do so that I don’t upset the nuts around here.

  26. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

As for Tua’s lightning quick release, he has to do that due to the way the offense is designed. Teams are crowding the LOS on him, they are coming after him and daring him to beat them deep. That’s why there’s a misconception that the entire OL needs to be replaced.

I think that’s why the recent long balls have been successful, recs wide open deep. DC’s are giving up the deep balls because they don’t think Tua has the arm. Due to the recent success I’m sure there will be a small adjustment to their scheme. but still it looked as if Tua put everything he had into those throws and they were far from impressive.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

        Sparano, 2008, 09, 10, did not finish 2011. Sparano, 12, 13, 14, didn’t finish 15. Gase was only 2016, 2017, 2018.
It may be semantics, but my statement was that nobody has made it 4 full years

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

he did start the final year, i think Ross was chasing harbaugh and harbaugh wouldn’t talk to him until he dumped sparano.
i think sparano was the best coach we had since shula.

I was just pointing out that Ross has given 4 years and Flores is not even finished with his 3rd year. i doubt he will be fired this year regardless of what the team does.
it doesnt line up with rosses past method of operation.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I will agree with you that it is unlikely IF the Dolphins continue to play well and win games the rest of the year OR if a shiny new name (like Harbaugh was) is available to him to pursue. You can never trust him on that part IMO

I don’t think Flores likes Gesicki’s game, he was benched earlier and made no effort to resign him last summer in a contract year, i doubt it matters what the cost is, Gesicki is history.

    Here are the targets to Gesicki by game 3, 6, 12, 6, 7, 9, 8, 4, 8, 7, 6. Seems pretty consistent. In which game(s) was he benched?

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’m not sure i’m allowed to coninue the debate about Gesicki around here, the local nuts don’t like this kinda talk.

but since i respect you here goes.

he wasn’t on the field that much early, The local media were wondering why Gesicki had limited playing time. then the started using him in the slot.
that’s not to say he was not playing at all.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I just think he is a weapon that is hard to defend no matter where you put him. He is a talented player and seems to be a good football player who brings energy. The Dolphins have gotten rid of good players in the past and I would hate to see them let this guy go.
He has a place on this team, IMO, regardless of what position you want to call him. He has balled when given the chance and is one of the few assets to a team that has struggled offensively. I would love to keep him, it is up to management to decide at what cost, but as a fan, I really don’t care, i just want him on our team..

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

No doubt he’s made some great catches, the thing is that comes with a price, for me players like Gesicki are not conducive to winning.
I’m of the pro set play action smash mouth football mindset. He’s too timid.
and now i have to negotiate a contract with him that will strap me to a situational player as IMO he’s not an every down player, he comes in only in passing situations.
I can get a real slot rec instead of a converted T.E. due to his lack of blocking ability.

and it would seem the people who make the decisions are not buying into him either.
If you have a player who you think is one of your best, you don’t let him hit the F.A market, you resign him early. and that’s not the case with this F.O.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

IMO we need weapons, and he is a weapon who plays every week and defenses have to account for no matter the situation. For me that is valuable to this team, and I would franchise him. Not my decision though, obviously, and I am not sure I trust this organization to make good decisions anymore.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

He is a part time weapon, he’s also a liability, our running game has to account for him also.
weigh that against resigning him to a multi year deal or a franchised massive cap hit.

if he was all that you’d think they would’ve made an offer last summer.

I think this team has already demonstrated their position.

  30. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

  34. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

Criticizing Gesicki’s blocking is like criticizing Padma Lakshmi’s looks because she has scars on her arm.

  35. bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

    O Rob,
We will just have to disagree on Gesicki. I believe he was drafted to be a weapon in the passing game, not as a blocker. He has to be accounted for on Defense whenever he is on the field. if the D has to cover him with a CB that weakens their coverage elsewhere and also can weaken their run defense, if they use a linebacker, it is a mismatch for us. Even above all that, he has shown to be uncoverable at times, and with Tua’s accuracy he is even more of an asset.(Plus he is available every week) This is JMO, but I don’t think we will ever see eye to eye on his value specifically to this team.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

But he’s not a good run blocker and ORob wants a power running game. Simple as that other than he knows a lot of Gesicki fans on the board (which is the bonus of going after him).

  36. Randy's avatar Randy says:

This isn’t a running league anymore. Nobody builds an offense around power running anymore except maybe Tenn. Gesicki is exactly the sort of weapon teams are looking for right now. They may decide not to sign him due to the cost, but it won’t be because he isn’t a good player or telegraphs anything, which is just dumb for so many reasons. If the OC can’t figure out a way to use Gesicki, then they shouldn’t be an OC. It’s not that difficult. Franchise him if necessary, but you definitely want to at least try to figure out a way t9 keep him if you can.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

      Everyone knows this…well almost everyone

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Gesicki is an awesome option. You are really lining him up instead of that nifty quick slot receiver but he’s 6′ 6″, 250 and an awesome athlete on top of it, even if not as good at the quick cut catches close in as a typical little slot guy. But he thrives in the deep middle and who you gonna cover him with? LB won’t do it. A 6 foot safety? He must be a nightmare for DCs to scheme against.

  37. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

It’s fuck’n pure stupidity to think you can win without a balanced offense, you have to be able to run to win.
and to use Tenn as an example is even more confusing?
it’s a passing league yet Tenn has the number 1 seed and is a running team.

Houston, Miami, Atl and the jets are the 4 bottom rushing teams, I wonder what else they have in common…Hmmm?

    • sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

Randy didn’t say you could win without a balanced offense. He said teams aren’t generally building around being a power running team and it’s true. You can still rely on an effective run game, show balance and be a top contender. Randy didn’t refute any of that.

  38. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

you also have teams that can run the ball but due to the great QBs they have they tend to pass more, take the Bucs for example, Fournette is a great RB but Brady his rifle arm and his rec’s trump that.

unfortunately we are blessed with a water pistol, so running the ball would be very helpful to say the least!

    Good analogy

I honestly have a moral objection to talking about people who aren’t here to defend themselves or give their perspective or point of view so I don’t really want to engage in talking about some of the names mentioned today

But I don’t like to talk about someone who’s not here

    Can we stop that?

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Who are you talking about? Home and Jet Fan are two of the only three people to get banned from the board along with Walker (back in the fighting with Gigi days). Seems they didn’t earn much right to not be talked about.

He’s not being one sided on this

I think the 2 things have nothing to do with one another as you do – but stanger brings up all the latest controversial news. That’s his style and good for him. Every time you guys suggest he’s only doing it to one side it totally undermines how many times he has done this to my side of the fence which goes unnoticed bc I don’t confront him about it

from June of 2020 to when i quit him in April 2021.
in June of 2020 i sent her an Email to remove me from the leads. she didn’t respond to that email and i have not gotten the balance.
kinda pissed me off, $450 is not much to get upset about but it’s the point of the matter.

not sure how i’m going to handle this as i have other interest with this broker, i may get to a point where i minimize my interest and file small claims against his co.

i would probably lose more pursuing this crap it’s just the point that the sec put her little grubby hands on my funds and even though it is clear as day i’m not responsible she or the broker doesn’t move to correct it.

The Rittenhouse case was more about self defense. The Arbery case was about murdering an innocent guy.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

      correct, unlawful pursuit.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

you can’t chase down a guy and invoke a citizens arrest without proof he has committed a crime, they violated his constitutional rights created a situation and the victim was killed in the process.

even if he was tresspassing? that was not against the law, tresspassing the owner of the property has to give you an order to stay off the property. then if you come back you’re subject to arrest.

      guilty, hang their asses!

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

They were both about self defense. One case it worked and the other it did not. 911 call in the Arbery case was literally “black man running down the street.”

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

How was the Arbery case about self defense? The three shithead racists murdered him.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

call it what you like, when you are ran down by 3 men in trucks pointing guns at you just because you looked at a const job, you get in a tussle and they shoot you.
that’s not self defense. they had no right to detain the man. they created the incident.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Tim — Arbery ran at the guy with the shotgun who killed him. Just based on that instance self-defense. But self defense goes away if you created the situation. And that is what the jury found.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

He’s not telling you his opinion of whether it’s self defense ORob and Tim. He’s telling you that both cases used self defense as a defense to excuse the murder

Obviously the juries make those decision on whether it actually is or not.

I think most rationale people would agree that the facts of each are much different. And in the Arbery case – self defense seems absurd. But the reality is – on 2 high profile cases, that was the defense that was plead

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Okay, understood. I felt that Arbery was trying to disarm the guy so he wouldn’t get shot. But those three hunted him and got what they deserved. If they felt he was up to no good just call the cops. But I think they had other things in mind.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Technically they both plead self defense

But you can see how a jury applies facts to those circumstances in each.

  55. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I also don’t think those two cases should be looked at as right or left, but that seems to happen with everything these days. The white supremacist narrative about Rittenhouse was fucking stupid though. Even our president said that which was totally irresponsible. But I’m not sure he even knows what’s going on anyway. He’s really losing it and that has nothing to do with politics either. It’s true, he can barely talk coherently. It’s sad whether you agree with his politics or not.
