Great way to finish the season. Go into the offseason on a positive note even though we just missed the playoffs. We also went 8-1 down the stretch. We just need to start better next year, and not leave it at having to play perfect ball for two+ months to get in.

I used to be all caught up in draft spot. I don’t think it really matters all that much. Fins blow the pick more often than not no matter the spot.
I love the draft as much as anyone but we can get a great player whenever we pick. Of course I’d rather pick early but I’m not going to worry about it. We need to do well in FA and then the draft will be gravy
Of course you can, but the Niners are a good team, they could make a run. I’d much rather have a guaranteed pick in the mid teens than a pick in the late 20s or even 31/32 pick. It’s a no-brainer and not weird at all to root for that.
This is one of those discussions that has now slightly shifted off the original point because the original point wasn’t accurate. Nobody is burning the town down or crying into their drink because the Niners won, we were just flipping rooting for the Niners to lose, lol.

I’d have no problem with re-signing Duke, adding a rookie RB somewhat early in the draft, and a FA, and then a guy like Gaskin who’s still on the books who can play a role.

ELEPHANT RIDER; During the Don Shula & Jimmy Johnson eras I thought we made pretty decent selections with early picks, for the most part (despite a few noteworthy disasters like SAMMY SMITH). For the most part, though, I think our early round picks have been less than stellar during the Ross years. And, of course, our colossal failures in selecting O-Line talent have been the #1 reason why Miami has NOT won a playoff game this CENTURY!! and i’M NOT BLOWN AWAY with our FA picks, too, during the last 15 seasons.
BOTH must improve if we are going to win a playoff game next season. Right now, we just AREN’T GOOD ENOUGH TO BE CONSIDERED SERIOUS PLAYOFF PARTICIPANTS. While I’m VERY PLEASED with today’s win over the Cheatriots, I’d be even MORE PLEASED if Bruce Beal suddenly became the majority owner of this franchise. This “O for the century” run of frustration has to end sometime!!
