If you’re a Dolphins fan, and you watched every game last season, it’s easy to forget how sparingly Jaelan Phillips played the first half, and how much he came on in the 2nd half of the season with that additional playing time. For comparison, in totality, Jaelan Phillips played 54% of snaps on defense. AVG (Andrew Van Ginkel) played 71% of the defensive snaps. DE Emmanuel Ogbah played 67% defensive snaps. Now that we’ve seen what Phillips is capable of, his time on the field will greatly increase, probably exceeding 75% of the defensive snaps. If not at age 23, when?
Once again, for comparison, Pro Bowl LB Micah Parsons who was beloved from many here on FMU played 84% of the defensive snaps last season. You’d have to think Phillips approaches that this season. With more playing time, more plays will happen, and Jaelan Phillips, and hopefully the Miami Dolphins defense will get an increase in production in their pass rush and rushing defense. Phillips was tied for 2nd on the team with 9 tackles for loss, and 3rd in QB hits with 16. He was 2nd on the team in sacks with 8.5, just a half sack away from being tied with DE Emmanuel Ogbah. Phillips showed the ability to play the run as well as rush the passer. He’s a very athletic, guy with a nice repertoire of pass rushing moves that he will keep refining. He definitely learned a lot last year, you could see the difference by the end of the season he was so much more effective.
This season, I don’t think it’s crazy to expect 12-15 sacks from Phillips if he plays all season and gets at least 75% snaps on defense. He’ll probably have more than 20 QB hits, and I’d expect close to 80 tackles. You want your best players on the field as much as possible, and I feel Phillips will be, already is one of our best. We did pick up Melvin Ingram who will share some snaps with Phillps, but Ingram is 33, and will have to be used strategically to keep him effective, and healthy. Although this only year 2 for Phillips, he came to the team with a good toolbox of pass rush moves, he has prototypical size and length at 6’5 266 and wide wingspan, crucial to getting to the QB. He’s certainly one guy to watch on this aggressive Dolphins defense. He should be among the leaders in a few defensive statistical categories this season, I can’t wait to see this kid shine!

Lots of people know about this stuff. This was just one that a friend recently shared with me. I think this was done in more of lesson type of way than how Glenn Beck articulates stuff. He gets on my nerves with his bias and he’s not always right.

When we released QB Chris Streveler I think that was because they liked Skylar Thompson’s arm talent and skills better. They know Bridgewater can win games in this league and they feel Tua has a nice upside.
I expect 3-5 rookies to be replaced after that first week of rookie TC with players who have some NFL experience or other rookies we had our sights on that are available. Part of that numbers game.
Skylar Thompson is going to get a lot of work before the vets show up. All three of our QBs have some mobility talent. They don’t have to be big time runners but they have to be able to move, bootleg, waggle and make a run here and there.
Thompson seems to have a good pocket presence and footwork already. I am sure there are things to work on with him but not as much as others we could have drafted or signed as an UDFA.
He’s a gamer.

Many in the media believe that Bridgewater will overtake Tua before the game against the Bengals or at the very least mid-season. That would be a perfect scenario for Bridgewater and would spell the end of Tua in Miami if that were to happen.

Phelon, I like Skeeter boats a lot. Even though a bay boat, I can easily take it offshore in the gulf with no issues but still has a shallow draft for inshore. I want a boat for inshore/offshore and, of course, one I can use for scalloping. Delima is wife wants a pontoon that we can have a custom canvas camper enclosure made so we can camp on the islands around here. I am good with it as I enjoy that but would lose the offshore element unless I get a tri-toon with oversized toons.
I don’t want a boat payment, so I am looking at used for 60K or less.

I think anything that has “world order” in it is bad news. The world leaders at that time (and always had) were backed by the 1%.
During these past 75 years, there have been major wars (not world wars), waged under capitalism vs communism/socialism, along with a lack of economic independence (see oil)… many of them being proxy wars. The world at large has NOT enjoyed unprecedented peace and prosperity.
I don’t think what came about after WW2 has been as described above (I recognize you quoted someone else, Stanger, not your words). WW3 is well underway, we just need an international incident (see Archduke Ferdinand’s assassination) to have it metastasize into a tangible event involving soldiers, bombs, and the like.
Lo and behold, what’s going on in Ukraine just might be the catalyst to make WW3 happen. π¦

Well Orcas are huge mammals and Great Whites are huge fish but mammals are smarter so they have a huge advantage. Orcas also work together like you said and Great Whites don’t. Orcas have that other name “Killer Whales” because they can kill anything in the sea.
I don’t think adult Orcas have any predators other than humans. Orcas are not known for attacking humans but Great Whites and other sharks are. So that’s why as a human we should fear sharks more.
The Great Whites are at least smart enough to know when they might be an Orca meal to get the hell out of there.

Not sure if y’all have heard this on the news. This happened exactly where we went scalloping only 4 days after we left Keaton Beach. I mean exactly! You can follow our chart plotter to the spots we had marked off Grassy Island for scallops and it would take you exactly (within 100-200 yards) to where she got attacked. It’s a grassy plateau about 5′ deep (in center of plateau) and covers about a quarter mile wide by about 2 miles out in the gulf from Grassy Island between 2 old creek channels that run about 10′ deep depending on the tide. That has been the scallop hot spot the last 3 years.

Speaking of nature, I tangled with a close to 4′ black snake today in the yard. My nephew was playing pool-side with a soccer ball when he came upon it. He yelled, “Uncle M13!!!”, and I came across the non-poisonous intruder.
FAST MFer. I pinned it down with a pool scrubber (the closest thing at hand), but it eventually slithered out of it and into the pool house’s outer bricks before I could ‘Steve Irwin’ it out back to the wild.
I don’t believe in killing wildlife, and if I got my hands on it I would have returned it to a safer distance to thrive in the wild.

1. Three years removed from the college hip injury. Almost career ending.

Tim, I think you are right. There are lots of Bull sharks all along the gulf coast. As the waters get warmer around middle July they tend to move out a little farther. I can’t think of any other shark that would come that shallow and be that large and aggressive.
I may have to convince my scallop buddies to move the date to the weekend after the 4th of July instead of the weekend after Father’s Day.

The US population is 56X the size of Denmark (not counting the millions of illegals here). So we have 56X the number of nut cases which is what this should be about.

The problem I have with comparing other nations with the USA is they are of the same culture, they’re not melting pots and they don’t have the same civil rights issues that we have because of that. Our country is massive with so much diversity which in theory is a wonderful thing. But there is a lot of turmoil because of cultural conflicts which is a human thing that’s been going on forever. For a lot of us we get along just fine, but there are plenty of people who do not like each other based on race and culture and it’s not just white and black people. One example is I know people who are Ecuadorian and they can’t stand Dominicans and vise versa. Not sure what the beef is but I’ve heard this multiple times for decades.
Most of these shooters are unhinged males 18-22 range and there are usually signs that they’re headed towards doing something horrific but nobody speaks up. Friends and family members usually only talk about it after it happens. It’s a lot deeper than just discussing the guns being used.

A lot of the European nations started to have more immigrant populations since WWII. They also have stricter immigration laws than us. The USA is different than other nations. The melting pot and all the divisive issues is not easy. Now there are people trying to make it worse or portraying it as it’s worse than it’s ever been when it was actually improving quite a bit.
There is an agenda and I think it’s fucked up. Kids minds are being fucked with by so many things that some of them are losing it. That’s where the problem lies and we keep ignoring it. These shooters have a lot in common and the narrative is focused on guns. Wrong way to approach it.
