Ken, i think the NFL would prefer to have Tua vs Allen but are more concerned with being vilified for possibly having it look like they chose business over taking cate of their players
Who is the NFL?
If he cleared protocol then nothing to vilify them for. In fact if they interfere after that point it could establish employment liability claims for tortious interference with contract
Or it could be looked at as a way to keep one team from having the best chance to win. We all know the league wants the Bills and Chiefs in the championship game.
The fact of the matter is if Tua clears protocol it is a decision between Tua and the team if he plays. Also the league has no role in deciding if Tua clears protocol. That is up to the team physician
Tim – Goodell runs the NFL for the owners and protects the NFL shield. Just like big CEO’s of big companies like Quaker Oats got rid of Aunt Jemima because it was deemed offensive. If you can’t admit that the NFL, and therefore the Dolphins have to be very careful about how they handle the Tua situation then I don’t know what to say. I obviously don’t agree they should have to but this is the pussified world we live in
Like Ken said, it’s not up to them.
You can’t say that though. Did our last issue with Tua, after the Green Bay game not have to be investigated and then cleared by the NFL? You don’t think they’re right on top of this situation right now?
Mike, all that was about was whether the team followed protocol, not that he did or didn’t have a concussion. That is decided by the doctors.
Everyone says let’s listen to the medical professionals and then when they say he’s cleared, pundits chime in saying I’d give him more time even though doctors say that means nothing.
And, like I said there are risks and reputations….please read what I wrote snd understand it.
Also, CHOICE is paramount!
I think I’m pretty fucking clear…lmao
It’s not the team’s decision! It’s Tua’s….wtf? Lol…
He will get feedback from his team and every-fucking-one else…it’s his decision!
Even if the doctors say he’s cleared the protocol, if MM doesn’t feel Tua is processing plays in the right way and he has concerns, he could keep him out of the game even if Tua says he’s fine.
I think the Damar Hamlin situation showed the NFL that a lot of people, even people who aren’t even fans, really cared about Damar. It’s a good thing he’s ok or the NFL would have been vilified for him getting hurt. I think it could be the same for Tua. Sure, the NFL can state that neurologists cleared him an blah blah blah, but will anyone believe it? I don’t even think my friends would believe it
Krishna – first we have to find a neurologist willing to put his neck on the line and clear Tua. Then, it’s up to Tua
No one is putting their neck on the line. There is a defined protocol.
Lots of people aren’t getting it.
I 100% agree with Mike E… the NFL does NOT want to have any part of Tua getting yet another concussion, especially during the playoffs where many more millions of people are watching… and ESPECIALLY on the heels of the Hamlin incident.
The NFL doesn’t have a say
Ever hear of a company doctor? Yes, the NFL can have one of their ‘doctors’ say that Tua isn’t cleared to play.
And yes, the NFL has the ultimate say. Their league, their policies, their agendas.
M13, that’s not how it works. He either cleared it or he didn’t. It’s not an opinion, it’s a medical diagnosis based on tests and results.
It is the team’s physician that determines if the player clears protocol not a league doctor
The NFL (under Goodell) has consistently trumped the US Constitution. When was the last time the NFL lost a case against one of its own rulings?
A $12 BILLION/year industry can make its own rules and dictate, as we’ve all seen.
The Constitution has absolutely zero to do with this issue so not sure where you’re going
I didn’t expect you to understand where I was going, being we differ politically, LOL. All good though.
Ok, like nothing can be manipulated by a multi billion dollar company. I’m surprised you think this way Ken, I really am. Optics are everything, and if Tua plays and gets hit and gets carted off, it will be a terrible look for the NFL after Damar Hamlin barely escaped death
^^^
It is not as easy as you think and there can be very significant legal consequences if they do
Agree
Tim and Ken,
It’s not that I don’t want Tua to start on Sunday, guys. I just see the NFL shutting him down to avoid more damage to their brand.
When the doctors in Cincinnati that treated Hamlin and cleared him to be transported back to Buffalo, did the NFL find a doctor to say no he should stay another week? No they didn’t. No difference with Tua’s situation. Also Tua’s heart didn’t stop where he needed CPR. He was standing on the field in the last game, he wasn’t in the hospital. Apples and oranges.
Hamlin is still hospitalized, only in Buffalo now. Don’t know how or what ya mean, man.
Read it again.
Apples and oranges was exactly what that analogy was. I don’t understand how anything about those situations are similar. Hey look, just don’t be surprised if he’s not cleared
I won’t be surprised if he is not cleared. I suspect he will be but I won’t be surprised if he is not and if he is not it is not because the league intervened but rather that is what the medical opinion dictates
All we’ll hear is that he’s still experiencing concussion symptoms and is unable to play. You can either believe that or not believe. I don’t think he’s going to be cleared and I don’t think he’s going to play
That’s different, he wasn’t cleared. We’re talking about if he’s cleared.
“The NFL (under Goodell) has consistently trumped the US Constitution.”
M13, how so?
Don’t get me started! It’s not that I can’t answer the question, but I’m multi-tasking. Interested to see what Kevin McCarthy has to say to Hannity (<- I don't like Hannity), for one.
Oh okay. LOL
I don’t like McCarthy either!
Hannity is quite possibly one of the biggest assholes on this planet, and this interview is proof positive of as much. SMH
TRUMPED??
What may be an even worse look for the NFL is the lopsided game that will occur if Tua doesn’t play. Lol.
This could be reminiscent of the 62-7 thrashing we took in Jacksonville
Ok, I’m not saying if Tua is cleared the NFL won’t let him play, I’m saying they will find a way to make it so he’s not cleared.
Exactly
I do not trust the NFL on this, and am not naïve enough anymore to think they can’t manipulate the end result. I agree.
^
M13, WTF does Hannity and McCarthy have to do with what we’re talking about?
You said “The NFL (under Goodell) has consistently trumped the US Constitution.”
I asked you how so and you changed the subject.
Bro, I changed the subject because my interest quickly changed… didn’t realize Hannity and McCarthy would be talking live right now.
I’d LOVE to know what Stanger thinks right now.
Okay but why mix the two?
Lol…
I hate to say this also, but the Buffalo Bills are a great story right now. “WIN FOR DAMAR” is something anyone and everyone can get behind. The Dolphins crippling their QB is not as heartwarming.
We’re all wishing Damar the best in his recovery but there are other teams looking to win too. I’m not rooting for the Bills because of Damar. I’m rooting for good health for Damar and that’s where it ends with the Bills for me.
Oh no, I’m not saying we should root for them, but it’s a feel good story that fans, and especially not fans can embrace. A little Hollywood for the NFL, how wonderful!

Okay but why mix the two?
————–
I didn’t mix the two. I probably should have just signed off from here, being my full attention right now is on Hannity and McCarthy. So with that stated, I guess I will sign off.
THE NFL doesn’t NEED the commissioner’s office to fuck-up the Dolphins.
STEVE ROSS is doing that job quite well, thank you. And he doesn’t NEED any help.
HIS DECISION NOT to draft ANY OFFENSIVE LINEMEN in the last draft is sure getting the job DONE.
This line CAN’T adequately protect ANY of its quarterbacks. This line can’t produce consistency in the running game. But THEY ARE EXPERTS at getting untimely penalties just as the team tries to mount a drive. To say Ross is disingenuous is to compliment him. He’s worse than that!!
This football idiot spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the best receivers money can buy. He even landed a couple of really good running backs. And he drafted a quarterback who, if given just a bit of protection, can pick any defense apart. Yet all this talent IS BEING WASTED because we lack an owner who is committed to building a better than average offensive line.
It was true a decade ago. And it’s just as true NOW!! Sad but true.
Miami’s biggest need is A NEW OWNER!!!
Well that stirred the pot….lol.
I’ve just never been into conspiracies…..I guess we will “know” today whether or not Tua is cleared or getting close or whatever….lol.
Florio is using his imagination……
“It’s hard to imagine Tua Tagovailoa playing on Sunday

Miami Dolphins v Buffalo Bills

Sixteen days ago, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered at least his second concussion of the year. He has yet to be cleared to play.
Five days from a playoff game in Buffalo, it remains to be seen whether he will be.
Frankly, it’s hard to see it happening. Tagovailoa has become the unwitting face and name most associated with head trauma in pro football. During the 2022 season, he has had two, maybe three, head injuries that have occurred when his head struck the turf. Every time he plays, there’s a real chance it will happen again.
Tua technically will be able to play after he’s cleared under the five-step return to play protocol. At this point, what responsible doctor will sign off on letting Tua play again? And what kind of messages could they be getting from a broader football power structure that is still reeling from the horrifying on-field cardiac arrest suffered by Bills safety Damar Hamlin?
At this point, the last thing the NFL needs is another serious on-field injury. Tua provided exactly that, in Week Four against the Bengals.
Ultimately, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross makes the call on whether Tua does or doesn’t play. Some think he should have kept Tua from playing on that fateful night in Cincinnati, four days after Tua struck his head on the ground and clearly wobbled before inexplicably being cleared to return to a game against the Bills.
Even if the doctors clear Tua to play against Buffalo, Ross has to sign off on it. It’s hard to imagine Ross letting it happen.
It’s also hard to imagine Ross not thinking once again about whether there’s a better short- and long-term answer at quarterback than Tua, someone who can and will avoid suffering head injuries.
Is that fair? Is that right? It’s frankly no different from being not strong enough or not fast enough or not skilled enough or too old or two expensive or too whatever to play in the NFL. Tua is too susceptible to concussions, and that could be the thing that causes his NFL opportunities to evaporate well before his skills would have otherwise diminished.”
I thought some of this was funny…..
Five Things I Think I Think About the Miami Dolphins – Week 18
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the offseason
By EgregiousPhilbin Jan 10, 2023, 6:03pm EST 13 Comments / 13 New
Right on the precipice of the most disappointing collapse in modern memory, the Miami Dolphins managed to eek out a win against the division rival New York Jets and claim the #7 seed in the AFC to reach the playoffs for the first time in six years.
And that, my children, is something to celebrate.
The fact that they did it by winning one of the ugliest games anyone will ever have the displeasure of gutting through?
As Dwayne “Rocky ‘The Rock’ Maivia” Johnson would say: IT DOESN’T MATTER.
Everybody’s 0-0 again.
Now, let’s get to gettin’:
1. Skylar Thompson is (currently) a backup:
Put your pitchforks down. Yes; he won the game and played admirably, especially considering he’s a 7th round pick thrust into a win-or-go-home game with one week to prepare as the starter. He was 20/31 (65%) for 152 yds, 0 TDs, and 0 INTs. The offense, despite their back-to-years’-past approach to pass protection only surrendered one sack. Oddly, Thompson’s QBR was 14.8. Don’t ask me how it’s calculated, but that’s a lot more harsh than I feel he deserves.
The reality is that Thompson plays like a backup because that’s what he is right now. That’s not an indictment, just an observation. Against the Jets (who, admittedly, have a very good defense), he was languishing through his reads and on ocassions where he had ample time to find a receiver and make the throw, the pass was poor.
All that said, I’m not down on the guy. Anyone who actually expected him to come in, make Pat Mahomes look like Pat White, and ride off into the sunset as Miami’s franchise quarterback of the future is out of their head. He did, however, do at least one thing better than Tua does (I SAID PITCHFORKS DOWN).
Thompson manipulated the pocket and, more importantly, got out of it when the protection broke down to extend the play more consistently than Tua typically does. I’ve said before that I think Tua’s inability (or maybe just unwillingness) to improvise is the main characteristic holding him back from being his best. Thompson appeared to have that skill (though neither of them are all that willing to take off and run with it when there’s space).
Putting the obvious injury bugaboo aside for a second and comparing based purely on ability right now: I don’t see Thompson challenging Tua whatsoever. I don’t even think he’s a better option than a healthy Bridgewater to win in the immediate term. I do think, though, that given his youth and what he’s shown so far, he should supplant Teddy as the primary backup and be given the chance to grow in Miami.
2. An ugly, boring game with so much on the line (and no one cares!):
There’s almost nothing to learn from a battle of third string quarterbacks. This game was a slog in every way except the outcome. And that’s all that counts!
Mike McDaniel leaned on the run game for (maybe) the first time all year, which fans had been pleading for him to do even when his top passer was behind center. Raheem Mostert looked dominant and the balance helped keep the offense as smooth as it could be given the circumstances. Mikedaniel also won his first challenge of the season, so that’s nice for him.
With the good also comes the not-so-good, it seems. Some of the play calls (looking at you third down screen passes) made me think that McD had been introduced to former Dolphins’ hope strangler Adam Gase at a cocktail party and taken some of his slurred advice to heart.
Knock it off. Don’t do that. Don’t do anything that guy would do.
Going for it on the first drive on 4th and 5 from midfield? Is that what we’re gonna do today? We’re gonna be stupid?
Every variable surrounding this game dictated it was going to be a chore, so play the field position game. Joe Flacco won a Superbowl, but that was before the invention of the automobile, so let’s make them march the whole field, whaddyasay?
Look, there’s not a lot of analysis to be had here. The game looked like two teams on long losing streaks led by third string quarterbacks. A one-legged ass kicking contest, if you will.
And Miami won. So we have the best leg in the game today.
3. The defense gave Boyer a good reference for his resume:
Josh Boyer might as well be this guy right now because fans can’t seem to wait for him to become this guy.
I’m not sure if Boyer will receive the proverbial kingslaying, but whether he does or not (and deserves it or not), his defense put up a nice performance for what could be his regular season Fins’ finale.
They held the Jets to 149 yards through the air (yes, thrown by Joe ‘Did his homework by candlelight out of necessity’ Flacco) and 38 (!) yards on the ground. I mean. That’s good. That’s good defense. They only gave up two field goals. That’s also good.
The one knock you could give them was the lack of pass rush against an opponent missing three of its O-line starters while Joe Flacco’s ghost’s grandad huddled behind them for warmth. They didn’t record a single sack, despite Jaelen Phillips doing his darndest.
I can’t imagine a solid game against a bad offense is enough to move the needle for anyone who’s evaluating Josh Boyer (or any defender, for that matter). But it was nice of them to show up strong when the time came.
4. The announcers didn’t wreck my brain like they usually do:
I often try to sneak in a point less about the game and more about something ancillary just to keep things fresh. Not infrequently that involves me ragging on the announcers for being bad at their very cushy jobs.
NOT THIS DAY!
Daryl Johnston and Joe Davis did a nice job. Unlike other commentators, they weren’t clearly rooting for either team (which is, 100% of the time, the not-Dolphins option when it occurs). Being a former player, Johnston called out poor execution and bad play design, plus he had fair assessments for the most part on missed penalties: both ones that should have been called and ones that were called incorrectly.
Typically the commentary makes me want to bash my head in. Nobody’s perfect, but Johnston and Davis weren’t a detriment.
5. Miami’s hopes hinge on health:
Oh yeah. The playoffs. Right.
MIAMI IS IN THE PLAYOFFS.
Feels weird to write. Seems like a typo.
Almost unbelievably, the Dolphins will have to face the Buffalo Bills for a third time this season in the Wildcard round next week.
The Dolphins beat the Bills 21-19 in Week 3 and lost on a last second field goal 29-32 in Week 15. Miami can beat Buffalo.
Of course, the specific collection of players who just beat the Jets 11-6 probably can’t.
That’s not doomsaying, it’s just being practical. Miami needs some key players back healthy to give the Bills everything they’ve got.
Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle got dinged up during the game against the Jets, so they’ll need to shake those injuries by Sunday. Terron Armstead missed Week 18, but is desperately needed to keep the offensive line from imploding. Raheem Mostert was the bell cow back until he suffered a broken thumb and his availability is doubtful. Then, of course, the grandaddy of them all is Tua. Two weeks and change removed from a concussion, it’s anyone’s guess if he’ll be able to play or not.
Without at least some of those players back to 100%, Miami’s fighting an uphill battle to say the least. With each returning player, their chances go up. If somehow everyone is able to go next week, the Fins have a real chance to take the Bills down again and start their third winning streak of the year.
Playoffs? PLAYOFFS? For once, Jim Mora: yeah. Playoffs.
He had me until players back healthy 100%
How is that possible? Just back will do
I guess thinking the NFL will keep Tua out of the game Sunday is a conspiracy. I think in the society we live in today, it’s more of a reality than a conspiracy, where minding your pronouns is a daily battle and kids can identify as cats, and these kids have parents, and that’s who the NFL doesn’t want to see Tua take the field jumping up and down and excited, and then carted off in the “fencing response”.
Or, flatlining on the field…lol
Yeah, well that would be worse, although either way, the NFL loses.
He did flatline….tell the truth…his heart stopped…facts
Here is my insensitive take….
…the NFL is in the entertainment business…a dangerous business where players know the risks (mostly)….the minimum salary is awesome compared to the rest of the planet…lol.
Little Johnny at home sees his “hero” go down in flames….that is sad…and hopefully with good parenting he/she/it will evolve and understand the realities of life in a healthy manner….
Tragedy is everywhere (business included)….it’s how we deal with it that matters.
So, imo, we and the NFL should deal with it without exclusion. Man up!
Krishna – Are you talking about Hamlin or Tua flatlining? I know Hamlin did
Dude, you painted a picture with the fencing pose comment for Tua and responded with a picture of Hamlin flatlining…lol
Neither is good for NFL image, imo….
Krishna – I agree with your insensitive take. I feel if Tua is cleared, it’s his and the coaches decision if he plays, no one else’s. On the other hand, I don’t think the NFL brand shares that viewpoint, especially in the aftermath of what could have been a tragedy in BUF with Damar Hamlin.
Wish people would get off the Damar comparison with Tua
From what I read med professionals say about Damar, it was a rare/freak between beats incident to a healthy player
Yeah there’s the bad publicity thing for both, but that’s on NFL it shouldn’t effect us/Fins, the NFL has an obligation to the networks paying billions for the rights to showing their games, to put out the best product they can
Why? From an NFL image perspective both are completely relevant…it’s a dangerous fucking sport…lmao
Relevant, but not directly related
These players chose this profession, knowing the risks, it’s on them not the NFL
NFL only responsible, if they’re negligent
What happened to Damar is unrelated to what happened to Tua. And the league cannot live in fear of injuries. It is a violent game. People will get injured. The league can’t control that. If someone is cleared to play then they can play
They ARE related….it’s a dangerous sport…lol
Really? They ARE controlling it though. How many flags were thrown on ridiculous roughing the passer calls this season? We also got lucky on what was called a horse-collar tackle near the end of the Jets game. I don’t need to tel, you that a brain injury isn’t the same as a guy limping off the field or a guy holding his arm.
Yes they do make rules to try to control injuries but I am talking about the actual decision as to who plays. The league doesn’t decide that
Lucky on what was called a horse-collar? That was 100% a textbook horse-collar tackle. Not sure why you grouped that in with ridiculous roughing calls.
Please don’t tell me you think the tackler’s hand has to be inside the pads. That’s for amateur football fans.
I hate the horse collar rule, but it was the correct call, and I’m not going to say they shouldn’t have called it or we got lucky, as we’ve seen how many calls went against us in the 5 game losing streak
You want the calls you have to win and be a good and interesting team
I hate Bama and the cheats with a passion, but the playoffs just aren’t the same without them
I doubt I will be concussed today…lmao.
I walked past my kitchen to the other room this morning and had no idea why I went there, and immediately thought I wouldn’t be cleared to play Sunday. lol
Lmao! I do shit like that all the time…
Do they have concussion protocols in kickball
I may have a heart attack and far more likely…lmao
Lol…with the way I drive it’s a wonder I haven’t experienced a heart attack or been concussed….
please announce Tua is practicing…please announce Tua is practicing…I want to go into the game knowing we at least have a snowball’s chance…
It’s sure looking that way
Steve, you’re obviously entitled to your opinion, but not sure why you would hate the rule. I think it’s one of the best rules in football to avoid injury.
The way Waddle went down on the tackle is exactly the reason it’s in place, and it’s pretty easy not to tackle that way, the same way it’s easy not to wrap your fingers around someone’s facemask.
I called out ‘horse-collar!’ the second Waddle was tackled even though we couldn’t see it on the live play from our angle, just because of how awkwardly he got twisted and pulled down.
Because it’s a pussification rule, that benefits a team, that shouldn’t benefit based on in most instances a weak variation of rule, 1 victim got hurt by this type of tackle – TO
Using that logic, just the same as Brady getting injured against KC 10 years ago, then every time there’s a season ending injured the league should make a new rule
It’s no different than a DL sacking a QB and getting a roughing call, because he used too much force and didn’t back off enough
Stupid to give a team a benefit, especially when the other team made a play
Just another way of the officiating crew to influence the game
“Just another way of the officiating crew to influence the game”
More weak sauce. When was the last time a game was decided on a erroneous horse-collar call? Or better yet, when was the last time you saw an erroneous horse-collar call? I MAY have seen one that was close before, but I can’t name any off the top of my head. Usually, when they are called, it’s because it was a horse-collar, and it’s obvious.
Roughing, holding, PI, these are the judgement calls that influence games, not horse-collars, lol.
Terrible logic IMO- apples to oranges- and not a pussification rule like some of the roughing the passer rules.
The Brady rule was a knee jerk response because of a low instance injury to a ‘face of the NFL’ player. While the horse-collar rule is removing a dangerous tackling technique from the game that has a very high instance of injury, a technique that is very easy to change, which is why you don’t see horse-collars called very often.
As for comparing it to a DL sacking with too much force, again terrible comparison. One is a judgement call by the ref, the other is a way of tackling that is clear and obvious when it happens and easy to call.
So, I guess I just disagree with you entirely, but thanks for the answer, lol.
FTX bankruptcy documents show list of investors set to be completely wiped out, including Tom Brady and Robert Kraft
I don’t hate Brady like I once did, but that Krap guy…
Kong, just going from memory, I didn’t think it was a horse collar. I thought he dragged him down grabbing his jersey, not from inside his shoulder pads.
He had a grasp of his jersey at the nameplate and pulled him straight down, which in the open field is a horse-collar and will be called every time. The tackler doesn’t have to be within the shoulder pads.
There it is
Oh well. That is a serious bummer.
It get’s better
Well I guess this is what the players in the league think of our fins
Not surprised Tua isn’t cleared, and very disappointed.
We pretty much called it yesterday.
Not surprised and the docs should be doing their best…
So, the docs didn’t clear him, and the NFL “pressured” the docs to NOT clear him?
Disappointing about Tua, but pretty predictable, IMO.
Politically motivated bullshit. Somehow the quarterback for the Steelers was able to clear protocol in three days before the game against us. This is punishment for their embarrassment AND the league pushing for Buff to make the SN
Tua has already basically said he wants to keep playing. The real question is how many of our eggs do we put in the Tua basket next season.
Tua out=zero shot
To say this early in week Tua is out makes me feel like the decision came from league
We just can’t catch a break, in 14 years we make playoffs twice, both times our starting QB is out
The decision cannot come from the league. He hasn’t cleared protocol so he can’t practice. If he can’t practice McDaniel said he won’t because of the time he missed
I think he means the decision to stop him from clearing protocol
I’m not sure which is more depressing, the short list of playoff appearances in the last 23 years, or the list of starting QBs in those appearances, lol.
Still doesn’t come from the league
That was supposed to be in response to Piggy above
It comes from the people the league hires…
No it comes from the team doctor
It is team physician and independent neurologist. I just checked
Not directly, but you can’t be that naive
Yes Steve it is all a grand conspiracy. Roger Goodell has nothing else to worry about as to how make sure Tua doesn’t see the field and to penalize the Miami Dolphins for violating some mystical league guidelines
LOL
We better bring protection
🤣
😂
I can’t describe how disappointed I am in everything football at this very moment
I don’t want to waste time at deciding who I should be mad at or hearing people vent about who should be fired, what we should have done instead of all the hindsight bs people talk about when they are mad and think somehow posting bs (I’m talking about Twitter) some how makes everything better.
Since I’ve known most of you for years/decades now, I omit you from my pork wreath
Heck of a season though – I can’t imagine the football gods being crueler. I’m not personally interested in making it worse for any fans
I guess I will watch this Sunday. Go Skylar. Go defense. Go Coach McDaniel. Make a miracle happen. EVERY ONE OF US DESERVES IT and nothing less.
🐖💨
Surprised Hill isn’t on the report
Neither is Damar Hamlin
Hamlin was out on IR
Yeah, how was Hill out for the majority of the 2nd half with an ankle injury that has been bothering him for a month, and now he’s not on the injury report?
I typically reject most conspiracy theories but in this case I agree with you.
Was supposed to be applied to Bookman
My thoughts exactly
I believe the league did not want Tua to play, and used some sort of mechanism to make sure that happened. I do not trust the league front office at all.
There is no mechanism. Either you clear protocol or you don’t. Tua didn’t
Absolutely agreed with Bookman.
“This is the pussyfied world we live in” 😂😂😂
So true Mike .
^
There was no way Tua was going to “clear protocol” this week.
AMEN! You, Mike E, and I pretty much were correct last evening. We don’t need the burden of proof, rather we KNEW Tua wouldn’t be playing this weekend.
That’s not what the conversation was about last night. It was about if he was cleared somehow the NFL would step in and keep him from playing anyway. That’s not what happened. He hasn’t been cleared by doctors so that’s why he’s not playing this week.
You sure like to take credit for things you never said. SMH
Go Skylar.
Go Crossen.
Go Little.
Go Ahmed.
Go Dolphins.
And GO COACH McDANIEL!!!
I will say, I am really enjoying this week with the Dolphins actually in the playoffs, and for me, coupled with the Packers not being in, it adds to the pleasure.
I am enjoying the extra week we have too. Regardless of everything else, we’re still a playoff team, top half of the league.
I expect a blowout on Sunday, but maybe we stay in it for awhile- an early pick-6, or a blocked punt, or maybe our D just plays well- anything that keeps us in the game in the 1st half would be nice.
Didn’t the Bills get 2 KO TDs against the patsies?
ruh-roh
Somebody put a sticky note on Crossman’s tablet screen.
I’m very happy the Packers did not make the playoffs.
A-Rod is just too smug.
Smartest guy in the room syndrome
McDaniel said he thinks having the must-win game in Week 18 will help his team not be so nervous against the Bills and yet still play backs-to-the-wall tough.
All of our injuries, especially not having Tua, probably makes that a moot point, though.
No matter how badly we lose on Sunday, our players can build off being a playoff team. And they’ll all now have “playoff experience,” which ppl always say helps.
Having to start our 3rd team (ROOKIE) QB will give our players a bona fide excuse for any loss, so they can retain their pride and confidence through the off season and hit the ground running next spring.
Unless we get the absolute shit kicked out of us
If we do, it’ll be because of Skylar throwing 3 picks or losing 2 scoop and score sacks or Crossen giving up 3 TDs to Diggs or something like that, and everyone can write that off due to them being in over their heads.
Wilkins, Phillips, and Sieler will make sure we force their offense to grind if the game is left to them. And if Hill and Waddle are ok to play, they can score in a minute, so unless they get snuffed at the LOS for the whole game, we should score.
The Bills defense is not as good as the Jets is.
Sure wish we had Ogbah though.
and Needham.
and Jones and Jones the DBs.
and Tua and Armstead.
Oh well oh well oh well
This will be a very interesting off season as far as coaching changes, if any,
and what McD and the FO perceives as our greatest positional needs
and how to fill those with limited draft choices
and not a huge amount of cap space.
It’ll still be the best returning core of quality players we have had in many years.
Defense won’t get a pass if we lose 41-3
depends on how they get the 41 (see above)
I mean if their offense just keeps scoring, no defensive TD’s
Is there any interest in doing Howie’s picks?
I know I lost my enthusiasm for it during the 5-game skid.
Here goes.
It’s ok if you just have no interest at this point.
Howie’s List
2022 PLAYOFFS
the Miami Dolphins (the #2 AFC seed after Week 12)
versus
the preseason (and still many people’s) favorites to win the Super Bowl.
🌴Buffalo 24🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬16
Sportrac says we are 7m over the cap next year already, even with only 38 players under contract. Supposedly the cap is going up next season, but we won’t know by how much until they set it. Not sure when the “Big new TV contracts” people keep parroting about will kick in.
If we lose because Diggs beats Crossen all day long, oh well.
Crossen is very fast,
but he cannot be expected to compete on talent with a star like Diggs.
If the Bills get 41 points, that’s 6 TDs or 5 and 2 FGs.
That’s basically scoring every drive for 7 straight drives.
Our defense is too sticky to allow 7 long drives,
just because there isn’t that much time in a game,
so we should be able to keep it closer than that,
as we did in the first two meetings,
UNLESS our drives are all 3 and outs and/or quick INTs,
especially pick 6s.
That COULD happen,
but then you can’t blame the defense,
if our offense plays like that,
even if the Bills do get 41 points.
Then you double up on Diggs and make Gabe Davis beat you. It was crazy that Boyer allowed Wilson to run free until the 4th quarter. Belichick always makes sure to take away one guy, the most dangerous player. I agree with that philosophy.
Tucker interviewed our old pal Keith Hernandez! Mike E and Tim, I should think y’all can appreciate that.
Did Keith Hernandez ask Tucker to help him move?
Tua didn’t clear the protocol and won’t play. But people are still thinking it’s an NFL conspiracy. Why can’t you just accept it for what it is?
Because we don’t believe them, just as easy as the NFL telling Fins we don’t want Tua to play they could also do the same with the Dr’s or just never have him get checked for clearance
We know the NFL manipulates games, we know they lie about a lot, they destroyed the Belicheat spygate tapes like washing a server
Have can you have trust enough in them to think they wouldn’t do this?
RIP Jeff Beck
So…I feel like Grier, if still here, should make sure we have a ton of picks in 2024 and set up for a Tua-less future. I think his injury history makes a big contract out of the question for a smart team and I really don’t see him even playing 8 years in the league. It almost feels like Russian roulette already. It sucks for him, but the risk is just too high. Dude has never finished 14 games in the most protected position in football. He’s barely been sacked the past 3 years. He’s just too risky in a sport that is focusing on player safety now.
I agree. At this point, Miami can’t plan on Tua as a long term starter at QB. Obviously drafting one in 23 is a non-starter, so you have to look at 2024. However, they collected some pretty good offensive pieces they should not trade away for picks.
I think they pick up a FA QB, like Garapolo (who is also fragile), to get through next year if Tua goes down again. All this is predicated on Tua not deciding to retire, of course. Garapolo may want too much, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a “prove it” deal with someone like Mayfield. Jackson wants big money fully guaranteed (not the Balmore is likely to let him walk) and is hurt now anyway, so he is not an option. Methuselah may play for cheap just to stick his finger in Belichek’s eye, but then they’re saying Tua is done if they sign him. Pretty slim after that.
I hate it but his concussion issues aren’t going away and he’s injury prone anyways. Just too much riding on a guy who will probably never start 17 games in any season.
Jeff Beck came up with the opening and Stevie improved over it until the song started to come together. Here they are playing it live together.
My favorite guitar player for sheer beauty of the sound is either Santana or BB King, but for shredding, if you can’t have Hendrix, then Jeff Beck is the man.
Clapton is a genius along with Duane Allman for telling stories with his guitar riffs.
I don’t really consider Jeff Beck a shredder. He’s so much more than that. His technique is as unique as it comes and he’s a master of tone and phrasing. Just about every big time guitarist in the biz points to Beck as being an influence. Check this out.
Right on cue of my above post.

I’m with you. Was talking to my friend the other night who’s also a Dolphins fan and we both said Brady to the Dolphins would be a situation where following and rooting for the team would be difficult.
If Brady wants to come here to be the backup, that’s fine, as long as they pay him like a backup
I could not stomach Brady being a Dolphin either, but can one imagine MM and TB running his offense….just for a moment with Hill, Waddle, Sherfield? OMFG…
The problem with making a deal with the Devil, is that forget about the Miami Dolphins achieving anything, it will be 100% Brady all of the time. That in particular, would be what I can’t stomach. Christian Wilkins could amass 100 tackles, 10 sacks, 5 FF and 30 TFL. Jaelan Phillips could have 18 sacks and 3 TD’s on FR’s. Bradley Chubb could have 15 sacks but Tom Brady
The NFLN still covers Brady and the Cowboys like it’s the great playoff game and that game is on Monday. They have plenty of time to cover that game at length but every time I turn it on it’s coverage of that game. Brady to the Dolphins would be Brady all the time as if the rest of the team doesn’t matter. It would make me sick.
You missed the part about, “I could not stomach” as I was in fantasy land….lol
“Imagine” as in use your imagination…lol…that is all!
Just don’t get TCUd on Sunday
Expect to see Betty at some point
We’re going to need big plays in all phases. I’d have Tyreek on punt returns. I’d use him in the run game too. We need a big game from the defense.
It would be nice to see the D show up this game. I pretty much believe that’s all we can hope for is for them to have a nice game…..for once this season. Show the fuck up…lol.
They’ve played the Bills pretty tough this year. That’s not an easy offense to shut down. You have to compete and keep the game manageable.
They have, I will give you that…but they have still allowed big plays, in both games.
And, TOP….I believe.
The Bills have a lot of talent. They gave up big plays to us too. But we don’t have Tua. Maybe Skylar will surprise us.
Special teams is a crap shoot and that’s how I think it will go. It would be nice to see that unit show up, too…..this season….lol.
Yep! We have to pull out all the stops. Plays nobody has seen, trick plays etc. Everything is on the table.
If my comments above manifest….we might have a game…
I would be able to follow and cheer for the team if they sign Brady as a free agent IF it is because we are moving on from Tua because of the injury risk.
I would have a hard time following the team if Ross canned McDaniel and brought in Harbaugh or Payton as his new shiny toy.
He’s been wanting that shiny toy for a while now. OD was right about Ross.
I know concussions are serious but those are the only injuries Tua has had this year. Two concussions. I think it’s way too premature to be discussing moving on from Tua.
He does however need to find a way to stop falling backwards the way he does. That’s how both have happened.
If you can avoid slamming your head against the turf in football, then, all is good….regarding concussions for QBs…lol
Tua needs to learn that the play isn’t there and just go down. That’s his issue. Nick Saban talked about that when he was at Alabama. That’s how he hurt his hip. Being tackled in awkward ways. Live for another another play. Just throw it away or go down and take the sack.
Moving on from Tua would be way too premature, moving on though would be more from a Tua calling it quits, with salary cap ramifications and what he did this year no reason to just trade or cut him
He can still play on his rookie contract with a 5th year option for the next two seasons. Salary cap isn’t an issue.
I will stop being a fan of this team if we sign Brady. Never will I be a fan of any team he is on.
Skylar needs to see a hypnotist, to bring back his style of play from preseason and camp
MM needs to tell him to be the opposite of the game manager he was against the jets
Two totally different situations, last week it was don’t F it up, this week it’s have fun, letter rip and don’t look back
I agree. Don’t play reckless but don’t play in panic mode early on and don’t play scared. Play to win.
Conspiracy theories?

LOL
If it comes from MSM it’s not a conspiracy theory, because of their superb record of telling truth and being accurate
The Browns are interviewing Brian Flores for their DC position.
Not focused on the draft was just wondering what our draft capital is in the 2023 draft. This is what I found.
In 2023, they have their own second-round pick, third-round pick, third-rounder via New England (acquired in the DeVante Parker trade), sixth-rounder via Chicago (acquired in the Jakeem Grant trade) and their own seventh-rounder.
Found this on the Phinsider Tim – the full chronology for thee next 3 drafts as of now
2023 NFL Draft – Miami Dolphins selections
First Round
1A – Dolphins pick; Forfeit in tampering case
1B – Acquired from San Francisco 49ers as part trade-back in 2021; Traded to Broncos for linebacker Bradley Chubb
Second round
2 – Dolphins pick
Third round
3A – Dolphins pick
3B – Acquired from New England Patriots in trade of wide receiver DeVante Parker
Fourth round
4 – Dolphins pick; Traded to Kansas City Chiefs for wide receiver Tyreek Hill in 2022
Fifth Round
5 – Dolphins pick; Traded to San Francisco 49ers for running back Jeff Wilson, Jr.
Sixth Round
6A – Dolphins pick; Traded to Kansas City Chiefs in acquisition of wide receiver Tyreek Hill
6B – Acquired from Chicago Bears in trade of wide receiver Jakeem Grant
Seventh Round
7 – Dolphins pick
2024 NFL Draft – Miami Dolphins selections
First Round
1 – Dolphins pick
Second round
2 – Dolphins pick
Third round
3 – Dolphins pick; Forfeit in tampering case
Fourth round
4 – Dolphins pick; Traded to Broncos for linebacker Bradley Chubb
Fifth Round
5 – Dolphins pick
Sixth Round
6 – Dolphins pick
Seventh Round
7 – Dolphins pick
2025 NFL Draft – Miami Dolphins selections
First Round
1 – Dolphins pick
Second round
2 – Dolphins pick
Third round
3 – Dolphins pick
Fourth round
4 – Dolphins pick
Fifth Round
5A – Dolphins pick
5B – Acquired from San Francisco 49ers as part of acquisition of linebacker Bradley Chubb
Sixth Round
6 – Dolphins pick
Seventh Round
7 – Dolphins pick
So in the next 2 years,
1×1
2x2s
2x3s
1×5
2×6
2×7
10 out of 14 allotted picks and on the + side, 5 of those in the first 3 rounds, on the negative – 4 in the last 2 rounds.
Looks accurate.
I didn’t realize we had two thirds this year
We can use a 3rd to move up in the 2nd if we want
We could but that means we have 2 x 2nds and a 6th and 7th. Only 4 picks means we need to lean heavy on free agency and hope for more gems as udfas
Not spam
Not that we have a chance anyway, but who is going to play on the Oline??
Connor Williams. All 5 positions
They need to run the ball successfully and often if we have even a chance of keeping the game close. Then again, I remember a game in the past few years where we had TOP by 45mins to 15mins and still lost the game because the other team took NO TIME to score.
Yeah that was Peyton and the Colts in 2009. We lost 27-23.
Derek Carr is now available.
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/derek-carr-bids-farewell-raiders-after-nine-seasons
Saw that but a team will have to trade for him and some team will. I don’t see it being us.
Was he cut?
According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Kevin Warren and Condoleezza Rice have been mentioned as potential successors to Goodell.
As for next year, what I think this team needs to do is a find a few guys who can play a significant role and upgrade some depth. We need to get some of our players back healthy and I think we can go compete again.
We need:
A reliable backup
An overhaul on special teams and a new ST coach
An overhaul at LB
Maybe one more RB
A TE that fits the system
More DBs
Maybe a New DC
Low cost Additions via free agency for the OL
And to get rid of guys like Byron Jones who did not produce
I think we can accomplish that in an offseason evens strapped Bc of the salary cap
An overhaul at LB? You know Chubb and Phillips are a part of that right? Baker and Roberts have played very well this year, even Riley has been a good nickel LB. We need Tindall to develop into more snaps. I don’t see LB as a void at all.
I was talking about personnel though, not coaches.
I didn’t mean those 2 who I am calling “edge” but Baker is not getting it done and other than hitting hard either is Roberts
All those QB rushing yards have been a real problem
That’s because we rush up the field so hard (not a read and react approach) and the talented running QBs sneak out. Do you realize we finished 4th in run defense this year?
That includes the historic Justin Fields game and some other QBs running on us. When your LBs are in coverage or blitzing they can only do so much. Our secondary has been the weak link and mainly due to injuries. What if Byron Jones, Brandon Jones and Needham were in the lineup? Very different defense.
LOL…….I guess….
They didn’t lose to Wilson, they lost to jets D
^
Because the Jets have a defense
Owe Steve a beer 🍺
The Jets beat the Bills 20-17 with Josh Allen scoring 2 rushing TDs including a 36 yard run. We beat the Bills 21-19. Both teams lost close games against the Bills as well. So what are we saying?
Regular season Bills weren’t the juggernaut they’ve been in the division
Unless Skylar takes off the training wheels we’ll be annihilated
I just mentioned division games. No idea what you mean?
It might be time for Eric Fisher or we call up Kion Smith from the PS. What about Eichenberg? Is Jackson still hurt?
How and why is George Santos still a congressman?
Rep side says he was elected by his constituents, no he wasn’t the guy he claimed to be was
McCarthy doesn’t want to bow down to the dems and some reps, because biden did quite the lying is his campaign, 1st in law school, plagarism…
But WTF do they have to gain by keeping him?
Set the precedence and get rid of the red flag
30537 = 20.91 per day from the “Great leader”
?
I’m still trying to figure out how Goodell constantly trumps the U.S. Constitution. LOL
Because as a group the players association collectively bargained away said rights in exchange for the chance to make $40 million a year. And nothing in the Constitution prevents that.
Tim – Raiders won’t be able to trade Carr for more than a late round pick. His $40.4 million salary over the next two seasons becomes guaranteed on Feb. 15 and he has a no trade clause.
They’re trying to trade him is all. He’s willing to leave. It’s in his best interest. It’s over in Vegas.
Yes, but they will cut him before February 15 when his next two years salary becomes guaranteed. And every team knows that so why offer much? And if he doesn’t like the team they are trying to make a trade with, he can invoke the no trade clause. Or he can just invoke it and force them to cut him, becoming a free agent.
I get it, just going by what I read. Some teams might want to get a head start and have a deal in place.
I don’t really care what his situation is. LOL
Maybe Methusaleh will go to the Biplanes…

Tim,
Fisher is on IR
I know but is he eligible to come off? We signed him weeks ago. MM said they signed him for down the road.
So I am only about 150 pages from the end of Master of Furries end it doesn’t seem like there is enough room to finish the story!! I checked online and there is not a fourth book planned. it took him so long to get the story set up I can’t imagine how he can end it at this point
That is quite the conundrum. 😉
Rocko, I’m closer to the end and I feel the same way
So wife and I go to dinner last night. We sit at the bar as we like. Appetizers come and all of a sudden an older woman (might mean my age at this point) shows up.
Her first comment was “are you two together.” (have no idea where that comes from). We laughed and both said no at once (we had the napkin set up side by side).
She then went on to explain in depth that half my butt was hanging out of my shorts (I’m sure she was right she was getting a plumber’s crack look, even if not half of it was).
Wife and I were laughing, being nice to her…. but she kept standing their with arms crossed. Just ignored her then till she went away.
Asked MA what she was looking for. She said “She was looking for you to be embarrased…. she chose the wrong guy.”
