As Naples was able to convey so clearly, this roster is basically set. There are only a couple of spots on the roster in which anyone drafted in this 2023 NFL Draft can make even the slightest impact on this season, and beyond. With that in mind, let’s once again look at those spots and the players that could have a chance to make that impact. To me, Tight End is the easiest. We have two blocking TE’s, Durham Smythe and Eric Saubert, and then we have a tweener, Tanner Conner, who was a former college WR converted to a TE. Realistically though, Conner is at best what we hoped former Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki, a dangerous receiver. Neither Smythe or Saubert has proven that they can be reliable receivers, but Conner has elite speed for the position (4.37 40) and hops as well with a nearly 40″ vertical. I’ve already illustrated that neither TE is a true receiving threat between Smythe and Saubert, they have a total of 121 receptions, 88 for Smythe over 5 seasons, and 33 over 6 seasons for Saubert, 3 TD’s for Smythe, 2 for Saubert. Those career totals don’t add up to one season for Niners TE George Kittle, who HC Mike McDaniel had the services of in SF as the Offensive Coordinator.
This brings us to Darnell Washington, who already has established that he’s a solid in-line blocking TE, with the size to get bigger, and he’s already shredded. His pass catching is more on potential than actual production, or he’d likely be the first TE off the board. Taking into account that TE is probably one spot where someone could potentially slide into early on, I wouldn’t be upset if we traded up to get him, and it looks that might be a necessity to guarantee he’s on our roster. If your roster is already mostly set, and you only have 4 picks, none of them on day one, and two of them on day 3, I see nothing wrong with acquiring one impact player in exchange for one of our 3 other picks. I think Washington has the size and speed to become a good receiver, and the fact that he could line up now and block on the line and downfield just as easily makes him an easy choice.
Another position where I think a player could help us right away is RB. Let’s face it, we have a RB room that screams “Running Back by Committee!!” There’s not one feature back on our roster, and one half of our RB room is signed through ’24, the other half on year contracts. Adding a versatile RB like Jamhyr Gibbs would be an easy pick. Gibbs increased his carries and receptions each year, and was a big part of the Alabama offense. He has a similar skillset to Mostert, Ahmed and Gaskin, in that he’s a very good receiver out of the backfield, can run either between the tackles, and has the speed to break a big run at any time with 4.36 speed. Mostert had career highs in carries (181) and yards (891) in his 8 year career. Wilson also had career highs last season, splitting the season between the Niners and Dolphins, finishing with 176 carries and 860 yards. None of our backs have played an entire season as a lead back getting the lions share of carries. Adding some young talent to the pool makes sense. Improve the depth, and very likely, one of either Ahmed or Gaskin would be either released or traded.
To me, it sure seems like the Dolphins staff is committed to developing OG Liam Eichenberg. If it were up to Ken, we’d have already moved on from Eich, but even Ken knows we invested an early 2nd RD pick, in order to do so we traded up from #50 and traded an additional 2022 3rd pick to get to #42 to take the Notre Dame OL. It’s sensible to get something back on your investment if you truly see the potential there. He absolutely has not realized that potential as of yet, and RT Austin Jackson is certainly on his last chance, being 2024 would be the fifth year option for Jackson, a $14M + decision, in which Jackson would need a standout year to have the Dolphins pick up that 5th year option. To think the Dolphins may spend another 2nd RD pick on an OL is not folly. I don’t think anyone here would be disappointed if we went that direction. Once again, there are a couple of interior OL that could give Eich a run for his money in this draft. TCU OG Steve Avila is a massive lineman, 6’3.5, 332 lbs., who is very light on his feet for such a big guy. He’s also a team captain, leader of men, and could potentially be a day one starter. Many here feel we need to upgrade the O-line, Avila could remedy that. Another OL I’ve mentioned is OL John Michael Schmitz. He is widely considered to be the top interior lineman, specifically OC prospect. I know some people get bent out of shape when you say we could move C Connor Williams to OG, (where he played 4 seasons for the Dallas Cowboys) and have Schmitz at C. Williams is a very solid player who played every-single-snap last season at C. He struggled some with high snaps, but otherwise it was hard to criticize his play. Schmitz is a true C that could step in day one, and moving Connor Williams to LG gives us a strong left side, with Armstead at LT and Williams at LG.
There’s always different ways to look at things, and we may just end up being patient, see who falls to our spot at each draft pick, and end up with 4 players, or we might get aggressive and package a pick or two to get a player. I’d prefer the latter, as I feel if we’re going to draft players in the 2nd RD and 3rd RD, these players better be roster worthy and at least in my estimation, should have some impact, even in their rookie season. Keep in mind we drafted LB Channing Tindall last season who made zero impact last season, but we’ve also seen Grier trade up for players he wants as he did with OG Liam Eichenberg. Whatever they do, I just hope these players we draft make our team better not only in the future, but this year as well.
GO DOLPHINS!!!

Lmfao…seriously Piggy?!
Did you watch the video…lol…harsh
Piggy with the page turn.
Nick Herbig, EDGE, Wisconsin, and Karl Brooks, EDGE, Bowling Green, have grabbed my attention. I don’t believe we’re even looking at EDGE players, unless the whispers are true about moving Emmanuel Ogbah (I don’t believe these rumors).
IF we were to move Ogbah, Karl Brooks becomes a target.
They are seriously looking at Karl Brooks. I believe they have met with him twice. Not sure about Herbig but like him also. Like them both.
Didn’t realize we’ve met with Brooks (maybe twice)… nice. Perhaps there may be something to the whispers of moving Ogbah after all… that would clear out a lot more cap space.
Herbig is really good, but I can’t see any way we’re targeting him what with everyone else we have on our roster.
Karl Brooks is like a Zack Seiler. I like him. If he had played on a bigger stage people would be talking about him on day 2 instead of day 3. IMO
Just trying to get this straight. So Pearl Milling Company is created and replaces Aunt Jemima so young folk will eat pancakes?
And as a result, some old white males will stop eating it but they’re going to die soon anyway, so . . .
I miss Aunt Jemima. She was warm and comforting.
I don’t miss her. I have two bottles that I will keep refilling with whatever pancake syrup is available. I also have a box that I’m refilling as well. 😂
lol
She was also a well respected cook and successful entrepreneur.
Labeling this as woke, I can get on board with. Not because they were wrong to do it, but because it’s a different type of advertising ‘move’ than the Bud Light thing.
This was changing something as an appeasement to certain demographics as opposed to marketing to a new group. I would compare it to changing the words in books because the word ‘fat’ makes people feel bad.
I’d say Pearl Milling Company replaced Aunt Jemima to match their younger demographic’s sensibilities.
But I’d still also say the vast majority of people who take issue with it are older white males, lol.
Now I want pancakes! Sorry, I ate one of my wife’s gummies and drinking some beer which explains the food talk earlier.
Kong – I’m an old white fucker alright, you’ve met me. I can’t hide that. I also admit that I believe that our society is becoming too quick to change kids genders. Kids can’t really comprehend the ramifications of changing their sex, yet I think that either psychologists and school counselors are too eager to make it happen. I mean kids get tattoos that they regret a year later and they’re 18 or older. No way a kid younger than that should making life changing decisions like changing gender because it seems interesting or better than their current situation. It’s like an epidemic
I 100% agree with what you just said. I wouldn’t let my oldest daughter get snake bites (two piercings on the lower lip) until she turned 18 for that exact reason. You just don’t have the capacity to make those decisions that will be with you forever that early in life. We fought about it constantly, lol.
As I’ve said, that is the line I draw. I see it as that community is coming from a good place and they want safe places for those kids who are genuinely messed up about their identity, their gender, etc. And I think there are kids that struggle with that early on. But what we’ve moved into is encouraging it, and creating it.
Ding ding ding!!!!
Agree completely with all of the above…
But, said much nicer….lol
You guys crack me up regarding the nonsense that is tolerated today in America… just sayin’ 😉
I think what I’m saying is it’s more than being tolerated, it’s being encouraged, or fostered if you will.
That’s what I was saying with my earlier post about the Amazon commercial. It’s being pushed. I want to know why?
I don’t have the answer. Change for the sake of change?
BBM,
I got caught up in the conversation, then got high, and forgot till now to watch that mac and cheese video. It looks amazing, and it’s exactly the kind of dish I like to make, lots of steps (in a fun way) and attention to detail when it comes to flavor. I’m definitely going to give it a try. Probably will do ribs, beans, and the mac the weekend after this one. Cheers!
Can’t we all just get a bong ? 👉👌😆
Phindog – this one’s for you. The head movements and expressions are uncanny. Perfection!
That is too funny 😄🐕
Pick-up Line in the dating scene these days:
“So … have you always been a woman?”
Not wishing to pour further oil on the troubled gun debate – this is just funny for what it is (at least to me).
And ditto with religion – this is not me disrespecting anyone’s life choices, it just made me laugh.
LOL, that is a great picture
Gonna need to talk to dad and little Billy about their poor trigger awareness…
Fido has the right idea 😆
I cannot equate expunging Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben from product containers to encouraging an adolescent individual to declare “non-binary” and demand to be called THEM.
Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben were stereotyped symbols of acceptable roles for post slave Negroes. Racists wouldn’t want a colored doctor, lawyer, teacher, or governor.
She represented the “maid” which many Southern white families of the fifties kept to do the laundry, sweeping, and kitchen work. The maid in reality was the last vestige of slave labor and was literally paid pennies per hour. She was depicted in the accepted style for maids: fat, dressed in mismatched calico prints with her hair covered in a kerchief to control and hide the kinkiness, with a vacant stare of ignorance.
Uncle Ben was the symbol of the “house boy” who had aged to “an old uncle.” He was a slave who was considered “safe” around white women, not a field worker. Rice plantations along coastal SC and Georgia were the first to import large numbers of captured Africans. This was before the “Cotton is king” era swept from Georgia through Texas, which demanded even larger numbers of slaves. He was depicted as submissive on the box and nicknamed Step’n’fetchit by the least sensitive whites.
To people born after a certain date, these stereotypes had to be explained, and the explanation could not disguise racism or the ugly past of slavery. This made them awkward or even detrimental to the Brand.
It is Revisionist History to morph her into a chef/entrepreneur and him into a CFO of agribusiness. That is worse “cancel culture” than just dropping two out-of-date drawings. Slavery happened. Shit happens. Jemima and Ben were not relatives; they were locked into servant class roles considered appropriate for the under-class and were purposefully given jobs with no possibility of upward social mobility.
Here is a late day 3 or possible UDFA running back the Dolphins very recently brought in for a pre-draft visit.
Tulsa RB Deneric Prince is 6′ and 216 pounds who ran a 4.41 with 35.5″ vert.
Tim, NANCY GREEN was the MODEL who portrayed Aunt Jemima. I think you have some people mixed up.
Naples – Regardless of the supposed origins of Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, or the Cream of Wheat Chef, I don’t recall any black organizations or groups railing against any of those things. It’s basically a white interpretation of what “White people” think is appropriate or inappropriate. That’s my problem with all of it. If there were black people offended by those things then by all means, remove them. That’s not how it went down. If I’m wrong on this, please get me some evidence to the contrary, and I’d actually feel better, and I might even dispose of my Aunt Jemima bottles and box of pancake mix. I can tell you this, I never bought those brands because I felt superior to the “slaves” depicted, I didn’t realize they were being depicted as such.
I’m a lot older than you and grew up in the Deep South in the 50s and 60s.
UK – Funny thing that pic of the “atheists”. I’ve being saying all along, should the S&M crew feel left out that they don’t get a letter in the LGTBQN or whatever the letters are? Basically, it’s a sexual preference, right? If you’re bi, you flip a coin whether you want a man or a woman, if you’re gay you want the same sex, if you’re queer you’re thinking about one or the other, if you’re non binary, I couldn’t give a fuck what you think because that shit is some made up nonsense, but the S&M crew has been around longer than most of the letters and perhaps they should be entitled to a letter or letters. Your thoughts?
I know you were asking UK, and you’re probably tired of me responding. I am genuinely not trying to be antagonistic, and I promise I will endeavor to make this my last post about this stuff for the weekend.
If you (speaking generally, not specifically ‘you’) are a submissive and like your wife to tie you up and beat you, or vise versa, or you like whatever kinky shit, you can still walk down the street with your wife, right? You can still kiss your wife in public locations without getting looks, whispers, or derogatory comments.
You aren’t being asked to keep the fact you have a relationship with your wife ‘out of other people’s faces’ just because you exist and don’t hide. Imagine if you were told it’s ok to have a wife, but don’t hold hands with her in public, or show affection, etc. And for heavens sake, don’t put any images in movies of a man and his wife, and don’t put them on commercials.
I think most of us on this blog would tell people they could go fuck themselves, and maybe even ramp it up to show you have a right to what you do. That would be because we are empowered to do so. We know we have a right to do those things with our wives. Well, that community is feeling empowered in today’s world and feel they don’t have to hide any more.
Ok, lol, for real, that’s my last comment on the subject.
you can still walk down the street with your wife, right? You can still kiss your wife in public locations without getting looks, whispers, or derogatory comments.

Unless the wife is walking him with a leash
Wyoming, are you familiar with this RB? He was at Wyoming for 4 years then transferred and played at Arizona State for a 5th year. He also made a recent private visit with the dolphins. My guess is he is another late day 3 or UDFA prospect.
RB Xazavian Valladay, 6′ 200 pounds, ran 4.43, 40″ vert and 22 bench reps at his pro day. He led the PAC 12 in rushing TD’s with 16.
Another DT, possible UDFA? coming in for a visit.
Kong – good points, but I think BBM nailed it. I’m going to say I expect most S&M folk leave their sexual preference in the bedroom. If they were to walk around with mouth ball-gags and leather outfits reminiscent of the outfits from Dodgeball, would they be looked at the same way? I’d guess probably not. That being said, I completely understand and agree what you meant. I think I rail more against the non binary shit, creating new classifications because they can.
Most depictions I’ve seen in recent years make the S&M crowd look quite freaky and abnormal, such as in Billions on HBO if you’ve ever seen it. Maybe they feel it’s ok to mock them because they generally keep that lifestyle private, but just like with gays, if it came out that Biden and the good doctor Jill Biden were wearing ass less chaps and pictures came out with Biden with a ball-gag in his mouth while Jill was whipping his ass, I’d guess that wouldn’t be well received, yeah?
Yeah a lot of people would judge if pics like that came out, then go home and do their own weird things, never seeing the hypocrisy.
Your average gay couple doesn’t walk down the street with their partner in a leash and ball gag, same as your average hetero couple. You’ve known gay people. I assume you have at least a gay friend or two, or maybe a family member. Do they go shopping that way? Of course not.
And for the ones that do walk down the street in a leash, how is that different than BBMs guy McDonald that is into heavy tats and body mods? Isn’t that also considered deviant?
People that get their tongue split, or horn implants, or tats on their eyeballs. Shouldn’t they also not walk down the street?
I don’t think Bud Light is trying to encourage people to be trans. I just think they want trans people and young people to buy their beer. I don’t think they really care about anyone’s sexual orientation they just care if they can profit off of it
Well, they may succeed in that endeavor, get another 8000 people to drink Bud Lite while losing 5 million. Good trade off!
The marketing research suggests otherwise that they will make more money in the long run by marketing to an expanding younger demographic and target audience as opposed to playing to their base of an aging and shrinking demographic audience.
Marketing research done by people who know nothing about rural America.
Rural America is a small target market. They will make more money in the urban markets. In the end they don’t care about anything other then the bottom line
What bud light is doing is using the equity inclusion to market to, not only that group, but anyone who has brainwashedly bought into equity inclusion
In other words they’re using the political campaign as their ad campaign
It is a scary day when Steve and I are essentially in agreement
That’s a good argument as to why you label it ‘woke’, which is what started off this whole conversation last week, lol.
🤔
I don’t have an issue with the people from LGBTQ and i don’t want to get into trans with minors, IMO they’re all just pawns in the political game being played
This is all about equity inclusion and the campaign says, if you’re any of those things LGBTQ, a minority, a women…come join us, we know what’s best for you
As a typical politician, they say one thing and do another, they don’t care about anyone from the equity inclusion groups, except for votes, sure they’ll throw em a bone once in a while, but leave the party and see how they treat you
The Johnny do gooders out there think they have to be a soldier for the “Cause”, so they can feel good about themselves, this bud light executive is an example
People that are against these ad campaigns aren’t against LGBTQ or minorities, they’re against the political campaign that’s pushing these narratives
Take for example the lady that wanted Target to pay for her thousand dollars worth of stuff, the idea was put in her head by this political campaign
We were told 46 was going to unite the country, how’d that work out?
It was just another political lie, but what they really want is the deviciveness, just like the AL Sharptons do, it’s what keeps them in office

lol, I should have known 😉
Lol, be careful, there’s a very bad man lurking🤣
Look they have parking spots just for you guys!

LOL
Oh shit, my wife took a picture of me in front of the grill last month. I made her delete it because of my gut. I put on 12 pounds over the winter. That pick is me, that’s my parking spot. lol
Ken – So are you saying that only younger people are transgender, or more likely to be? I’d agree with you on that, because for some reason, our school counselors such as guidance counselors are IMO too quick to get involved and enable such a transformation. Therein lies the problem. WTF is going on with this? It’s getting ridiculous, and needs to be monitored much more closely.
Younger people are more tolerant of and accepting of transgender people and thus they will identify and accept a highly visible and well known transgender person acting as a pitch person. I don’t even know the guy’s name but my sons all know who he or she is and could really care less about this whole controversy as a non issue in their minds
My youngest daughter feels the same.
that is because the programming is working!!!!!!!!
THAT is why the younger people are more excepting of wokeness. I wasn’t programmed as a child. THEY have been!
LOL @ Rock – The alternative is that this is depicting a birthing person smoking a brisket. lol
I think the biggest problem facing Bud Light and any large brewing company is not the changing demographics of the country. It is the rise of microbreweries. I can’t count how many quality microbreweries are within 10 miles of my house. They are routinely packed serving better quality beer than I will from Budweiser in a can
I challenge you to throw a rock from my house in any direction and NOT hit a microbrewery, lol.
No doubt, there’s like an explosion of private breweries, they’re everywhere.
I did their tour in St Louis a few years back, the end is at the pub, where they gave you 2 pints of any of their beers
With lots to choose from they have something for everyone, and with such fresh beer, they’re all great tasting
Not to leave anyone out, we also ate at a BBQ place in downtown that was amazing
I am sure they make some quality beers and microbrew style beers but they don’t market those on a large scale. I remember several years back they tried to market some microbrew style beers but it didn’t really go anywhere. I am not sure why
Ken – My kids feel the same, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not an issue. Not sure what a doctors office intake form will look in 10-15 years. Gender – Male, female, both, neither, non-binary, furrie, etc. Race – Caucasian, black, I identify as black, I identify as white, I identify as an alien from space etc.
I could really care less what is on the doctors form. I know what box I will check. What boxes other people check is not my problem. If someone wants to be called an Apache Helicopter then knock yourself out I could really care less
here is the difference though. YOU can lie to yourself all day long. STOP trying to get me to lie with you! I am sorry you have Body dysmorphic disorder (which IS a mental illness) but you are not a girl. “God” did not “Make a mistake” you have a mental illness and it should be addressed as such.
Mike E, I’m even older than you mate! So I suppose I am more “traditional” in my thinking. I’ve been following along with the recent discussions but don’t usually get drawn into these unless asked, which you did! I have to say my views are aligned with CKs comments yesterday regarding all aspects of sexuality – X and Y chromosomes are there for good reason and the root (no pun intended) of procreation is continuation of the species and natural selection at a very basic level. That black & white view being stated, however, we live in a world with a million shades of grey and are the only species to invent contraception so we can procreate without conceiving while every other species lives to conceive. Think about that. There are so many kinks, fetishes and orifices to choose from these days, too, that it would be hypocritical to take a hard stance (again no pun intended) on any of that. Not to mention that natural selection has all but disappeared with all the advances in modern medicine, allowing people to live who are far from the fittest in society.
For me, that last word is the nub of it. Mankind has progressed and prospered largely because of society and the support system that brings. If everyone in the world was a refuse collector who supported the Fins and only ate pasta, wouldn’t it be dull and pointless? Instead, the world is full of as many shades of skin, intelligence, aptitude, preference and desire almost as there are people, as we are all so unique. I also believe we all make each other better. I know this is a somewhat Utopian view and there are also some real turds of people out there, but as a generalisation, we’ve got a pretty good thing going as a “human race”. Of course we are flawed – it’s part of the human condition which means we don’t get everything right by a long shot, but I’ve got a lot more to be thankful for than not and I suspect this is true of the majority of people. I guess what this amounts to for me, personally, is a I don’t give a toss what other folks do in their private lives, as long as they do it on their lawn and not on mine.
That being said, I think the abundance of choice in absolutely everything can be overwhelming. When I was a kid, I ate what mum made me. If I didn’t, I didn’t eat. Her brother made his son eat the food he refused to eat at dinner for breakfast the next morning, cold, until he ate it. Nowadays, kids get a frigging menu to choose from at home. Parents have largely stopped being parents and have given the choice to their kids, because of course a 3 year-old is going to make better lifestyle choices than a 33+ year old parent? Everyone knows candy is better for you then veggies. I hardly got to choose squat until I left home for Uni at 18. Once parents abrogate their responsibility, they should not be surprised if a shit show ensues in terms of decision making. So, again, for me, I don’t think any child should make decisions about life-altering issues until they are old enough to do so. The flip side of this though, is anyone “locked in” to a role but wants something else with their entire being has to endure an early life of suffering until they can be who they want to. I firmly believe you shouldn’t judge anyone or anything unless you’ve walked a mile in someone’s shoes. Those shades of grey. 50 of them at the very least!
Bizarrely, after starting out saying that life holds a bewildering choice of options these days (I just want coffee with milk, not a frappelappecrappe served by a cheeky chappy), a modern day “disease” seems to be a desire to simplify everything into a binary yes or no, black or white, Box 1 or Box 2 choice. This seems to be so that an “issue” can be aligned with a sense of self, or opposed to it ……. drawing the battle lines for a potential confrontation or affirmation. In some ways I am somewhat conventional, but in other ways unconventional. I watch tv through a firestick so almost never see advertising. Even if it’s on, I mute it and go on my phone if it’s live sports, so I don’t see things like the bud light stuff (don’t think they have it over here anyways). Ken knocked the nail on the head with that one though – the way to sell more beer is to stop it tasting like carbonated piss in a can and give it flavour. It might even cost less than advertising. There’s a concept! I despise anything being put in a box really, but am still guilty of it from childhood prejudices, which form part of your character. So in summary, my philosophy is try to live and let live, try not to put any thing or anyone in a box and try to be tolerant of others and their views. But I’m human and flawed so I fail. The danger of judging others is you’re going to be disappointed more often than not if they turn out to be less than you wanted them to be. Having read that back, I’m not even sure I’ve answered your question, but don’t judge me!
Fantastic comment and well presented point of view
Cheers Bud (not lite 😉)
lol

Thanks UK – Appreciate the input my friend!
BTW – I think you also stated an important issue. Parenting is a big problem. Parents are basically just like “Whatever makes yo0u happy” rather than actually taking stock of the situation and talking with them and actually being parents. Not shitting you, I’ve had parents come in to order eyeglasses and have had their 3 year old pick them out. They don’t fit well, they don’t look good on you, they aren’t appropriate for your prescription, but yeah, let your toddler make that choice. Oy!
You’re welcome Mike and role reversal is the biggest issue facing society now. Each generation wants better for their kids and they think giving them more choice is making their life better when sometimes, it’s actually better not to have what you want all the time and be given things on a silver platter. Entitlement and an unwillingness to strive won’t get you anywhere good.

God I love the British. I identify as British from now on
I had you pegged (no pun intended) as TRANSatlantic?
🤣 damn that is cheeky
Hear, Hear!
I identify as a grumpy old white male concerned with what society is leaning towards.
My oldest kid is 29 and my youngest turns 22 next week. And you can see the difference between the two and how they view these things. The biggest difference between the two isn’t that politicians have somehow gotten into the heads of my younger kid through marketing. This is where I push back on Steve’s ideology that it’s all a political agenda and brainwashing, etc.
My youngest daughter has been online since she was about 10. These kids have created their own communities and their own ways of looking at things, and now they can all reach each other. I think it is THEM that started pushing these ideas and the politicians, like they will, use it as part of their platform understanding just how different and how big this generation shift is.
Like watching people play video games online instead of playing the damn games themselves, that movement wasn’t created by politicians. That was entirely created by our kids.
I see the gender fluidity and all this stuff in the same vein. It’s kids that are experimenting with all this stuff because they can. Look at things like incels. They can reach each other online and form their own little communities. And what happens? They grow.
It’s not some huge agenda the left manipulated into happening. Are they on board and influencing it now, sure, but when I look at my daughter and her friends, IMO they have been the driving force behind it.
So true about the online communities
Even the weather isn’t immune from its very own box it appears?
And I’m thankful I’m not on the IOC – not enough boxes
Monday starts jets week Toba

Cuvées_Des_Trolls
The Cuvée des Trolls was created in 2000 in the tanks of microbrewery Le Brasse-Temps, which was established in Louvain-la-Neuve by Brasserie Dubuisson.
It is an unfiltered blonde beer with a natural cloud. The beer is produced using only yeast, malt, hops, sugar and water and has an alcohol volume of 7%.
Thanks to the addition of dried orange peel during the boiling process, the beer has very pleasant fruity aromas that are in beautiful harmony with its delicate, fully rounded taste.

It is an exquisitely balanced and barely bitter beer that tastes full in the mouth and has sufficient body.
LOL That my drunken mistake is still in the lexicon all these years later!
Nogtih UK!
Hope you have a great date UK, whether it’s with a woman, a man, a man who identifies as a woman, a woman who identifies as a man, or they’re just not sure exactly what they want to be at this juncture. and even if they like IPA’s.
One thing I can say with much certainty . . . I despise IPA’s. I don’t get the infatuation with them one iota. I think it ties in with the agenda to turn the entire population into fruits! lol
In what way?
IPAs are generally stronger, higher alcohol content
For me it’s great taste for 1 beer, then something doesn’t sit right, so I generally don’t buy them to take home only out in bars or restaurants
But nothing theses days, haven’t had anything in 10 weeks
It’s part of the history of the blog Rock!
And the date is with a Pale Ale, Mike, not an India Pale Ale, a Belgian One. Get back in your anti-IPA box 😉😂
Pale Ale so much better than an IPA
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the only one I can distinguish as a pale ale, everything else is all lumped together
Steve – I don’t like grapefruit, and most IPA’s have a strong grapefruit, bitter flavor. Not a fan at all. I don’t think beer needs a citrus flavor to be a good beer. I love Yuengling, it’s just plain old lager, and it tastes great.
That’s what I had last night, Yuengling.
It’s always interesting how conversations segue on this blog. LOL
No doubt, which I think makes it even more interesting
We were having a perfectly fine BBQ conversation yesterday until you threw a hand grenade into the mix, lol.
I just mentioned a commercial that even my daughter finds a bit weird. She’s not political at all. She has opinions on stuff but she’ll never start a political conversation and will rarely engage in one.
Steve – there’s also a correlation between beer preferences and political leaning. My more liberal friends are infatuated with IPA’s while myself and my more conservative friends like beers and ales like Yuengling and Guinness and the like.
I hate IPAs but love Yeungling and Guiness.
I am liberal and I hate IPAs, like Yuenglin and love Guinness. Do not label me. 🤣
That’s an interesting observation. My wife is pretty damned liberal and she loves IPAs.
I, on the other hand, think all beer tastes like piss smells, so I’m not sure where that puts me, lol.
All beer tastes like piss? Those fighting words ape! Where is God when I need him
Like piss smells. I don’t want to be accused of knowing what piss tastes like…again.
Hey going back to our conversation about sexual preferences. Maybe you are into water sports how would I know? I am a bad man
It’s almost as if everything in life becomes political somehow. I find a lot of it very silly.
Ken – you’re a conservative pal, the guidelines are drawn!!! Don’t buck the system!! LOL
No I am British.
🤣
Trans was how UK put it
Obviously I’m just joking, but it is true about my friends and myself, and the beer preferences
So Kong’s favorite beer is Golden Showers. LOL
LMAO, you and Ken coordinated that one with impeccable timing
LMAO!!!
Bottled locally
He likes VGS
Jeez, sitting in my backyard listening to music, I fall asleep, deep sleep. Wake up, I’m wearing a miniskirt and there’s an ice cold IPA setting right next to me. 🤯
Not that there’s anything wrong with that
I drank Yuengling for the first time last year at Daytona Bike Week, then at a dive bar in Cocoa Beach, the draft version was so much better
I prefer most beers on draft. Guinness in the can though is money
You have to pour it right.
Yeah the draft version is definitely better. I find Yuengling in bottles has a bitter after taste when it’s not as cold as you’re finishing it.
LOL @ Kong and Tim, Ken with the Golden Showers beer
I always prefer bottled beer. I have seen too many beer lines pulled out during renovations to EVER drink draft beer unless it is right from the keg.
What a lot of people do not realize or don’t think about is the draft beer is kept in a refrigerator, but the lines are usually in the attic space above the ceilings where it is not even air conditioned. Here in FL that means an ambient temp of about 90-100 degrees. The beer then passes through a “Cold plate” at the tap that cools it back down. If you drink a less popular draft that beer could have been sitting in those lines for days unrefrigerated. AND YES, if you have ever pulled out those lines, shit DOES grown in them. Nasty stuff.
enjoy your draft beer!
You see a lot of bad stuff like that on the show Bar Rescue.
But I’m not sure what you mean by the lines being in the attic?
The coolers are usually in the back of the bar / restaurant. The bar somewhere in the “front” there are neoprene hoses that go from the kegs in the cooler to the taps. Those lines are either run through a pipe underground (a sleeve) or they are run above the ceiling / below the roof.
Not necessarily the “attic” but the interstitial space above the ceilings / below the roof.
Aren’t a lot of taps right above the kegs behind the bar?
Yes, if they have a Keg-o-rator. But if they offer more than 2 or 3 types of draft beer then there isn’t enough room and ALL the kegs are in a centralized location in a walk-in cooler.
Mike, the real question is are you still wearing the miniskirt?
Guess it was a dream, just a dream, dream. lol
You guys here that!!!
Mike E dreams of being a cross dresser!
I left work early today
Bad 🐖
Im drinking a mescalita now and getting some tacos
Weeeeeeeeeeeee
It’s good to be the boss
Everyone jump the Queen!!!
🤣
Your Magesty@! You look like the Piss Boy!
I don’t drink draft beer. I’m really not that fond of cans either. I like a long neck bottle. That way, if shit goes down, I’m ready.
I also don’t like to sit with my back to the door in a bar or restaurant. Same reason.
Don’t mess with Herd at the bar. I pity the fool that does
Does shit going down happen often in your bar and restaurant experience?
Not so much recently, but there have been times…. 😂
I used to play in a dart league back in the day. Sometimes we’d be at our ‘home’ bar, sometimes at the other team’s place and some of those were pretty sketchy. Back in the day when people smoked in bars, you always knew. The match books they had on the tables advertised bail bondsmen. That was a clue!
No offense to BBM. 😂
Spoken like a true heterosexual female. “Doesn’t like cans, likes a long neck bottle”. LOL
Ya see size does matter. LOL
they called me the beer can back in highschool
Here’s a question for you all. What makes you liberal or conservative with 5 short points? And do you crossover on some issues as an addendum?
Liberal = change
Conservative = no change
I mean that’s the literal definitions. It’s not necessarily true in practical application
I always think of liberal as related to liberty, meaning freedom.
I think of myself as taking the liberal position on a question if taking that position supports freedom.
So liberal to me means tolerant, especially as in tolerant of the beliefs and lifestyles of others, as in they should have the freedom to be or do whatever, as long as it doesn’t impinge upon the freedoms of others.
To conserve something is to keep it as it is. There are some things that should be left as is, but I always try to find ways to improve everything.
Freedom of speech explained
The obvious from both sides is the Constitution, right wants it to stay as is, left wants change
Then you have taxes, right wants them low, left high
Then illegal immigration, right wants closed borders, left open
Then left wants spending and big govt, right wants low spending and small govt
Then govt itself, left wants some form of socialism, right wants capitalism
HA!
1 belief in equality of all people
2 belief government is there to serve the people
3 belief no one is above the law
4 belief in individual liberties
5 belief in inclusiveness
That is essentially liberalism
Bingo!
Great short points, too bad all of that is out of whack.
1 yes equality, but people today want privilege
2 govt only serves their own interests
3 but we have a 2 tiered justice system
4 yes, individual liberties, such as free speech
5 inclusiveness is a pipe dream and why we have white people in the country and suburbs, Little Havana, Little Tokyo, Chinatown…people don’t want inclusiveness, they just don’t want to be left out
I rarely drink beer.
I always cuss myself when I do,
thinking, hey, I could’ve had bourbon, why did I settle for beer?
Although I do like an ice cold beer right after a hot round of golf.

Beer style rankings by 🐷
Dubbels
Tripels
Pale Ales
Other Ales (cream and Red)
Witbier
Pils
IPA
Hefeweizen
Stouts like Guinness
Lagers
Pilsners
Porter
And way down the list is trash like Budweiser and coors
I don’t give a damn who there spokespeople are – I would rather drink my own piss
With the exception of Budweiser types being at the bottom most of the stuff abouce Lagers (I don’t really care for lager or Pilsner) is interchangeable
Honestly I love most Belgium style, Czech style and Irish stouts types
I’ll drink that all day – some of you already know this…
I hate American beer pre microbrewery time
I am so happy America changed its culture about beer and microbrewery’s blew up
I’ll drink any local brewery from Queens any day of the week
Or for that matter Jahn’s beer was excellent
That’s the way to go when it comes to beer – small breweries that care about about their products
That mass produced Anheiser Busch stuff is 🤮
Also Mezcal and Bourbon beat any beet any day of the week IMporkyO
Speaking of Jahn, anyone have his contact info? Mike?
This summer I’m going to So Cal, after I retire, then up the left coast, would like to pass by Jahn’s place
And back thru Sac, Kong?
I love Belgian ales
Isn’t Stella Artois Belgian? I love that stuff.
Yes
Stella is a Belgium beer- one of the ones that are marketed well is US
Try Duvel if you like Stella
Or if you want to get rocked quick try delirium – you know when the logo is a pink elephant it’s for real
Dubel and Tripel are really 🇧🇪 BTW
there are a lot of good American Belgium Style beers
“small breweries that care about about their products ”
That’s what free markets are supposed to be. If the consumer thinks you suck you’re out. It’s all about providing a product or service that people like.
The big brewery corporations sell their product with massive advertising and branding. There literally could be piss in the bottle but it still sells. That’s fucked up!
Stupid people do stupid things, take MickeyDs for example
Yeah, taste a piece of meat without everything else on it. I’m not sure what it is.
Steve,
Mike has my contact info. Get my number and/ or email from them. When you pass through Sacto, hit me up and we can meet up for lunch or a cold bottle of ‘tastes like piss smells’, and a rum and coke, lol.
LMAO, I just addressed Mike as a ‘them’. That was a great typo…
He’s an old white male with conservative viewpoints but he likes to wear miniskirts. Is that crime? LOL
👍
This is my basic political viewpoint.
1. Smaller government
2. Individual freedom over the state
3. Strong defense or we have no state
4. Free market capitalism
5. Environmental consciousness
*Addendum:
Compassion to help fellow citizens who are struggling and need help.
Which puts you center of center
Pretty much.
Kong – now I’m a “they”? You can just refer to me as him. LOL
He, him, skirtman
LOL
I originally typed ‘Mike and some of the others have…get it from them.’
It must have been the miniskirt…
Curses!!! LOL
Well, there was that pink chiffon robe phase too!
😭
Are you seeing a trend too Herd?
With apple martinis. LOL
Just went to check my email to see if Mike sent anything, and the email on top was Paradise Skin, thought it said Paradise Skirt ( Mike’s new email addr) at first glance
Try a few of these and let me know how it works out for you
Stella Artois is a really good crisp pilsner.
Stellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
I like Stella
Socially, I’m all over the place. I’m fine with abortion as long as it’s not a late term abortion. Fiscally conservative, hate big spending, freebies, I would tear up the Medicaid system and unemployment and cut out the fat, redo so people who keep pumping out babies don’t get rewarded for bringing up kids without means. People who don’t work don’t get paid, that simple. I have no problem with gay marriage, but i think some of these newly minted categories such as non binary and the current surge of transgender needs to be looked at. I think mental health is an entirely overlooked system, and more of a cause of these mass killings than any one gun is. That being said, and I know Phelon hates this one, I don’t see the need for any non military person to own a magazine that can shoot 50 or bullets in a minute. The country needs to invest a lot more in its military and maintain what we have. We need to take tax money that the states are getting from sports betting and invest that into infrastructure, this country is falling apart. Billions of dollars are being made with sports betting, that money should be heavily taxed, the house always wins, and should be put back to the states individual infrastructures.
Infrastructure is a red flag on what’s going on in this country. There doesn’t seem to be a desire to upgrade it which would benefit all the people. Everything is special interests.
A bridge will collapse one day and hundreds of people will die. Then they’ll fix it offering thoughts and prayers. The same as your weapon point.
I agree, except the part for Phelon
Bottom line no one fits neatly one narrowly defined set of principles. The problem there are people that believe you should
I believe in the soul, the c^ck, the p^ssy, the small of a woman’s back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap.
I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter.
I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
*Addendum: I believe the basics of how to barbecue should be mandatorily taught in grade school.
Is that Bull Durham?
Yeah, the talk about what we believe made me think of the first few lines and I thought it rather apropos, lol.
I’m about to go to a seafood restaurant that just reopened after recovering from hurricane damage on Ft. Myers Beach. The one right next to it is still not repaired enough to reopen.
Little by little this area is returning to normal, but we still have a long way to go.
Most intersections, for example, still have broken or missing or oddly aimed traffic lights.
👍
BTW – Abortion happens to be the one big issue that I believe will continue to sink the GOP, those bible thumping, holier than thou assholes. It seems like a total conflict of interest, not believing in BIG government yet taking control of women’s rights as to whether they can have an abortion or not. It will haunt them as long as that’s one of the big points they get behind.
Totally agreed. They discriminate against individuals on women’s rights and alternative lifestyles that doesn’t fall in line with their “traditional” values, u-hem “religion”.
The problem I have with both parties are:
Republicans are bold and out there with their stance. Which I personally find very fucked up on a lot of issues. Democrats pretend they’re not for the things they are absolutely for during elections.
So what you get are Republicans who are branded as mean which they are much of the time, and Democrats are wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Oh how I love the lesser of two evils. One is not tolerant and the other deceives. Great!
Ken – Of course, yet we seem to always bicker about stupid shit anyway. I truly feel that for the most part, most of us, regardless of party we may feel affiliated to, aren’t so very different. Some issues, of course, but not ALL of them, there’s just no way.
I agree. I just believe people have forgotten that
^
Wow….catching up was fun today…awesome!
My view is we need to legalize recreational weed everywhere. 😎
LOL…I will second that!!!
There would be less war and more listening to this.
It’s also a great song to get freaky with. 🙂
Nice….thank you.
I’ll third it!
You were 4th just saying. I even got the song in there. LOL
You’re right
I’ll fourth it!
lol
Hmmmm…..
1. Fiscally conservative–small government to protect our country and take care of our own.
2. Socially liberal–you know me…lol…anything goes as long as you DO NO HARM to others. If you want to fuck yourself up, that is all on you.
3. A free market, i.e. capitalism, it’s kinda like evolution.
4. Religion should have ZERO say in government policy, this includes the very paternalistic/perjorative/so-called “Christian” attack on women’s rights. I thought this was in the constitution….lol.
5. Don’t shit where you sleep…I think we all have a responsibility to take care of our planet including the air and water that are absolutely vital to our survival.
👍
But, you can’t have my V8, and I’m eating steak as long as cows roam the planet!
Eat whatever you want, just clean up after yourself….lol
That’s a bingo!
Pretty much how most people think, but because of votes the right has to cater to the Evangelicals
We all want to take care of the planet, but the left has gone too far with the unrealistic Green New Deal crap
How do we tell them enough is enough on these 2 issues (1 from each side)?
The greeners are just another cult like religion. Even if they don’t know what they’re talking about, they believe it.
My biggest issue with the environmental movement are too many people don’t give a shit. Why are the oceans and water shores filled with your crap? Stop doing that!!! What do you need a billion dollar program to get through to you?
Alright all this talk of beer has me thirsty. I am off to Armada Brewing in New Haven. Just outside of the 10 mile radius from my house but still close enough
I will be sure to keep my back to the wall 😉
Long necks Ken, long necks! lol
LOL
I think you’re more balls to the wall kind of guy😉
A friend of mine just lost his son, 19 to a brain aneurysm. Smart, loving kid, attending Cornell. It’s so damn tragic. Kiss your kids, and hug them! He had the whole world ahead of him, all great things. My heart breaks for these people.
That’s really sad, man. So sorry to hear. Ugh… cherish this life we have.
My condolences, Mike E.
That’s heartbreaking. Condolences to you and your friend, Mike.
There are “whispers” out there that we will bring in competition for Jason Sanders. He’s due $3.775M with no dead cap hit.
Woooohooooooo!
Here’s a headline. “Bijan Robinson is the RB the Miami Dolphins need but can’t get.”
Uhmmm… lots of teams like a player like this. He’s somewhere between Barry Sanders and Curtis Martin. I’m interested to see who picks him. I don’t think he’s falling out of the 1st round.
Gibbs falling to us at #51 would be awesome.
I think Robinson might be the most impactful player in the draft
We don’t “need” him but he does look special
^
Brian Miller. I called him an ass.
Rumor has it the Bills are looking real hard at Robinson. Pats need RB help also. Hope neither get him.
It sounds like Herd and I grew up in similar circumstances. Fights were pretty much a given in certain bars/towns. To this day I won’t even sit at a staff meeting at work with my back to the door. I gotta be able to see it and have my back at a wall. Herd and I would be fighting over chairs. Lol
***
I never had to do any wet work like bad ass Herd and her busted bottle. That was a step you didn’t take unless you wanted to get seriously hurt…unless you’re Herd! Respect. 🙏
I’ve never broken a bottle. I like being prepared. Just in case. 😂
Sorry to hear about that MikeE. Terrible!
Maybe Rock can give us a run down on the Kickers in the draft. 😉
I know there are a couple good ones.
Bijan Robinson is going middle 1st round at the least. This is not a top heavy awesome draft and he’s one of the best prospects in this draft.
MikeE,
That is tough news. Sorry to hear it.
Friday night
M13, DAX dropped a new one today. It’s not a rap song.
Last one before I nap before work.
Herd, sorry (not sorry) for all the side boob. 😉
You guys with all of your travels, fancy bbq techniques, exotic beers
I’m a Lager man been that way for a long time back even before these kids today were drinking their little Capris Suns.
Why’d they go and mess with the Bud Light. They win just by distribution alone it’s (was) everywhere. That wasn’t good enough. Now they want call me queered for drinking it and I didn’t do anything they brought this on themselves.
This song is about me lol
Not Spam
HAHAHAHA YES IT IS!
Rollin numbers
Rock nRollin
Got my Kiss records out
Good stuff!
This is really good, kinda the same theme too
Mike E sorry to hear about your friend … way too young to go
Yes, tragic ✌️
Shouldn’t the schedule be coming out soon?
Without seeing dates I’m betting the Panthers game winds up being the Fest game.
Sonny : I’m with ya I like simple beers , that taste like they did when I grew up Bud Lite, Miller Lite in cans or an occasional Stella or Heineken bottles are fine
Exactly
Btw way back during the Canadian Beer heyday I loved all of those even Moosehead. Labbatt’s, Molson. Y’all had a good run for a while.
Interesting.. hate all of them 😊. Labbat lite used to be one of my go to beers. Never drank a Molson product I liked .. also can’t drink any beer that comes in brown bottles
Hates those but loves bud light lime
Those are good for one or two .. can’t drink more than that though

Monday starts jets week Toba
Should be fun , we played our worst hockey of the year January to March… seems we have redound our early season groove ..
Those metallic helmets Knights and Kings wear are FUGLY
Phel should recognize this one (even if the music isn’t his taste).
Greatest show ever.
If you haven’t heard yet, Phel, they are making a new Justified mini-series to release this summer. I thought the original series ended perfectly, but there are still plenty of Elmore/ Raylan Givens stories left to tell, so I’m excited as all hell to get a new one.

M13, DAX dropped a new one today. It’s not a rap song.
——————
The producer in me doesn’t like DAX’s use of autotune here (he can’t sing… but nor can I, LOL), but that song is BEAUTIFUL!!! The message is what counts, and I score that as an absolute winner in my book.
Thank you for sharing, BB Mike! I like that song.
Confession: I’ve never once used autotune on any song of mine. However, I have used the ‘talkbox’ and vocoder for some pretty cool effects over the years.
I’ll always drink a Green Lizard
The first beer shared among anyone on this blog was Capt Stubbs, Walker and me. We met pre fest days, pre FU days at the Ale House kinda close to me, they lived in opposite sides of me one North one south. It was shortly after Jim Mandich passed away. Mad Dog loved the Green Lizard so we ordered those in his honor.
👍
Stanger, hope you did alright man. That’s a lot of rain I think that’s more than what Ian put on us and it was in a shorter time. Hope all is well bro 👍💪🐬
Last week at this time? I was scraping ice off my windshield prior to going to work, bundled up for the arctic weather with low 20-degree temps.
Today? 92 degrees, hot, and sunny… and it’s only April.
I don’t know of any state in America that regularly gets 0 degrees in winter and 100 degrees in the summer.
Once again, there was no spring season for us here in Pennsylvania. And God forbid if it reaches freezing again, it going to destroy a LOT of crops over here.
It’s going back to norm. Unseasonable temps here and there is the new norm.
Herd, I always figured if you were at the Fest we’d kinda you know look after you make sure no one disrespects you and so forth but now I’m thinking I want you down here on my 6. Take care of her damn self. Awesome. Lol
So today is 4/14/23… and we’re no closer to knowing what’s going on with A-Rod or Lamar Jackson… two BIG dominos have yet to fall.
And yes… there is potential that both QBs could end up in our AFC East.
And I still don’t think we have a legitimate QB spy on our Defense. JMO
Let ‘em they can’t beat us. Only we can beat us.
Then everyone can shut up about Tua and start kissing his ass.
Lamar Jackson has killed us on the ground.
Josh Allen has killed us on the ground.
Justin Fields has killed us on the ground.
I have no clue what happens with Mr Rodgers , but I don’t think Jackson is going anywhere
I hope you’re right, Mr. Manitoba. The prospect of having to deal with a running QB twice a year in our division makes me skeptical.
Hold on the spy thing should’ve been a new paragraph lol
We’re loaded with spy’s and ability to create mismatches or least get favorable coverage assignments. That’s why Fangio is here and not some place else.
Ramsey may as well wear 007 😁
Ramsey could work very well in that capacity… until opposing DCs catch on. Fangio likes ‘multiples’, meaning more than just Ramsey can ‘getterdone’.
Drew Sanders is enticing for this very matter.
Sorry, until opposing OCs catch on.
Running QBs definitely were our Achilles heel … take away their yardage and our Run D was stellar
That new linebacker helps there. Long ?
Ramsey as well of course however Wilkins will have been resigned and will have something to say about the DPOY when it’s all said and done.
Although he’s my candidate think about this
I predict the actual DPOY will come from our defense next season.
There you have it
Sanders might be a nice player but it’s going to be hard for anyone coming in to find playing time. But you never know.
I pointed out Ramsey as one but beginning with him and what he brings you can fold out the possibilities. He plays Safety Corner and Small Forward ( some linebacker) all at once.
