BOOM! You just ran into a wall named Eddie Goldman. How does your Earthling weak skull feel? A little dizzy? Me too. No I didn’t run into Eddie Goldman. My head is spinning from all the quality players coming in to the NFL in 2015. Eddie Goldman is just one of them. You better not run into him.
Pound for pound, Goldman might be the best big run stuffer in this draft He has a big and powerful upper body and it shows on the football field. The 6’4, 320 pound defensive tackle reminds some experts of our very own Randy Starks but others compare him to pro-typical 3-4 nose tackles.
Goldman’s strength is clearly against the run. He is not exactly a consistent pass rusher. But he does have a good initial burst and has some quickness. Its possible that Goldman is just scratching the surface of his potential.
He is clearly athletic enough to do more than just clog running lanes. But even if he is just a 2-down run stuffer – he is a good one! A few mocksters have mocked Goldman to the Dolphins at 14 – but I think he is more likely to go early 2nd round, mainly because he is not a great pass rusher. While Goldman probably won’t collect a lot of sacks early in his career, he might develop into a good pass rusher, so nabbing him in the 2nd round might be a real steal.
Most defensive tackles don’t have awe inspiring statistics but Goldman did manage to have 35 tackles and four sacks in 2014. His biggest play of the year was a crucial forced fumble against Clemson when the Seminoles desperately needed a big play.
If I was going to compare Eddie Goldman to an Alien Weapon of Destruction, I would compare him to the Impenetrable Gamma Ray Wall of Lower Centaurus. You cannot pass!!!

FIRST
who could forget these nightly conclusion to tv for the day.
THIS was also part of the opening moments of one of the greatest TV series of all time!! – – WHO can forget the first 30 seconds of “THE OUTER LIMITS!!!”
Only because you got up this early because you had to pee
Good job Piggy! Goldman looks like a good player, most likely a 2nd RD pick, but he might catch the end of the 1st.
Morning,
Hope everyone got their beauty sleep, today’s gonna be a busy one. Going to father-in-law’s to install a couple of new thrones and maybe a kitchen faucet. Think I’ll bring some classic rock to listen to, maybe the Guess Who’s “No Suhgar Tonight”, or Carly Simon’s “You’re Suh Vain”…
Thank you, Wedge for the write up on these prospects/potential oak trees.
..although I must say, Eddie Goldman doesn’t look Jewish- any more than Shaquille O’Neal looks Irish.
My daughter is touring D.C. this weekend. She’s at Arlington right now and will be going to the Smithsonian (natural history, I think) and maybe the Senate building. I’d like to spend a few days in D.C..
I’m sure she’s having a blast. That’s a fun trip. Class trip?
Yep- didn’t know if they were gonna be able to go because of the weather we’ve had, which of course in our country generally moves west to east, so we were concerned about them making it through WVa and VA. They ended up going up through Cinci and Columbus and adding an hour to the trip.
I wonder if Suh makes it out of Oakland this week with all of the cap room they have.
If Oakland is willing to pony up the extra 3-4million per year over Miami’s offer to make up for the tax benefit in FL….then yes.
Try
Shocked you haven’t listened to Phil Collins’ Suh-Suh-Suhddio yet . . . .
Piggy referred to it already, so I have to avoid it.
gotcha
Besides, mine are different, albeit maybe subtly- they usually have an anti-Suh bent to them..
Good morning all. What’s Suh’p?
Hey now-don’t you start! =-O
Lol!
Hey Herd! Just listening to Stevie Wonder – Very Suh-per-stitious . . . .
Suh-render, Suh-render, but don’t give yourself awaaaaaaaaaay
OK, gotta stop that, it’s addictive.
Q: How does Ndoneykong hold up his pants?
A: With his Suh-spenders.
Just me? Really? Ok…
Ah, I see the problem:
NdonKeykong.
Take this with a grain of salt….I heard that just recently😉 Nike decided that they wanted to heavily re-establish their Miami market. They lost The U to Adidas & they can’t do anything with Tannehill as he is with Adidas. The plan is supposedly for Suh to be the face of the Nike brand in SoFla market.
Once again it’s just a rumbling I heard last night, but I still think Suh goes elsewhere. No it wasn’t a media source just someone who works for Nike who was relocated to Florida just recently.
Interesting theory, though I’m not Suhr he moves enough product to give it much credibility.
Like I said take it with a grain of salt. It was the same person who showed me the Teams new helmet and Jersey prior to anyone else. It’s the only reason I posted it.
I heard you, grumpy! Lol
In just a couple of hours at Suh’s front door:
(in unison) Hello Mr Suh
I’m Mike
und I’m Dennis
(in unison) We want to pump Yo________u
(chest pump)
up
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh!
I don’t think we’re going to win the Suhweepstakes, Pigmeister.
Nice write by the way Pig.
Pay attention- it was Wedge. You’ll hurt his feelings.
Pig,
Here’s my write up of Belson Agholor:
http://www.finsmob-exoduss.com/2015/03/07/wr-prospect-nelson-agholor-usc/comment-page-1/#comment-586793
Nelson
Good piece
I like USC recent wrs
They play a pro style offense and seem to be ready out of the box
Agholor is am interesting prospect
I want a big WR
But if we are just looking at quality wrs, which we should be, agholor would be a good pick in the 2nd or 3rd round
Ok, I can see my very creative effort is going to be wasted here- I’m out. See you all later.
Have a good one Try
You too, Dbolt.
I have heard speculation that the chests take Goldman to replace Wilfork
Cheats
It’s alright- I speak Pig-latin.
@MiamiDolphins: The team has signed defensive tackle A.J. Francis and safety Jordan Kovacs. http://t.co/mog6uiS2vH
That is what we can afford after signing Suh….lol
I think Francis can really thrive if he can shake the injuries. He’s an agile DT Eventhough he is 6-5 330Lbs.
Pig — Goldman definitely looks like a big body we should have on our radar, especially if we don’t go with Suh.
And give my thanks to Wedge for all the great player profiles. His work is much appreciated.
Quick refresher of Francis his senior year:
That’s a nice write D-Bolt, on Agholor
Thanks Mike. Like I said he is plug in and play ready day 1 with this offense.
I also really like that write-up. Lots of talented WRs this year.
Appreciate it New Age.
Stanger, I agree. Goldman Suhprisingly looks a bit like Suh Jr and a lot cheaper route to go. If he can keep his weight down around 320 or a tad less then he could really develop into a force. He’s coming out early so he’s young, got a lot of football potential still ahead of him.
I’d take him in a low first trade down, plus an extra 2nd, plus the players we’d get for all the money we are willing to spend on Suh, but I may just be a cheap bastard. 🙂
Catch ya later Try! Have a great day bud!
From an article by Matt Bowman talking about how free agency works:
“As an agent, the job at this stage is to make every team feel like it is his client’s No. 1 destination. And it doesn’t hurt to get teams involved that historically overpay or enter free agency with tons of cap space. That’s how agents drive up the price and improve the market for their clients.”
And by “this stage” he means up until now. Hoping we don’t become one of those go to teams that agents get involved just cause we are known to roll out the big money. But maybe that’s just the unavoidable downside of being willing to spend.
D-Bolt
I wouldn’t mind Agholor, as long as he’s the second WR we took. I’d love Parker or White first, and then honestly, I’d prefer Dorsett as the 2nd guy, but I agree Agholor is a plug-n-play guy who’s ready to contribute now, like Landry.
I list Agholor for a few reasons. He’s a very high floor player and still hasn’t reached his ceiling. As a pure route runner he is on par with Cooper and better than White, Parker, & Strong. Those 3 have a higher ceiling because of their size. In the RAC department Agholor is better than all four especially coming across the face of the defense. With that said one of the most important reasons to keep an eye on him….is we may go Kendricks in round 1 and target WR in round 2. Although he may have pushed himself into late round 1 contention.
Stanger, I agree again on trading down getting Goldman, saving money for other FA’s or even signing Dan Williams much cheaper than Suh, he’s 27 and has shown he can occupy 2 blockers. This saves for us to get a better OG in FA, a solid FS, maybe even a powerback like Gore, a CB, LB, even a vet WR like Andre Johnson, Cecil Shorts, Eddie Royal.
This team needs more than (1) body, it needs several upgrades!
What if that (1) body was Suh-perb?
I’m on the Suh, Suh, Suh train but Goldman is a very good player. I also would prefer WR in the first. I don’t White being available but Parker would also help when we move on from Wallace. Either is a nice upgrade for what we need(RZ conversions).
I would live to sig Suh
Draft a WR like Parker or Strong in the fist
Then go all D in the 2nd rounds through the 4th round
Get some LBs and DBS
Me too, I would live to sig Suh
That’s exactly how I was envisioning it as well.
How bout some Suh highlights
Piggy,
We are of the same mind on this topic. Best defensive player available since RW. The defensive version of Manning suddenly being there. Could you imagine that beast running after Brady? Lol!
GDP — Suh is a great player, but on top of what else we can do with the money I just scared of all the eggs in one basket and what a lifetime contract can do to a guy. I watched this signing unfold in DC…….killed the Skins (not that I minded).

Yep, I remember it well.
Suh works, that slug didn’t
Yeah, Suh has expectations of his place in the game. Fatsworth just wanted the money and nothing else.
Everybody though Dansby had a great work ethic before he came to us and did his best impression of the Pillsbury Doughboy.
Waaay different investment
Q: How do you call a Pig in the south?
A: Suhooee!
https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/this-original–herbie–beetle-sold-for-less-than-a-loaded-toyota-camry-030215392.html
Loved the movie as a child but I just don’t think I could spend on memorabilia. Lol, I’m just not rich enough for one! 😉
That one was the floater though. Wonder how much one of the running ones would go for.
I want to see how well Fairley does if(when) Suh leaves the Lions.
@RapSheet: Intriguing team preparing to make a run at #Lions DT Ndamukong Suh: The #Chargers. Wow.
Still got that big CA state tax
Why would he go to a team that might move to LA
I don’t see a big time free agent going to San Diego considering the instability
But they do have nice weather
Haynesworth is nothing like Suh
Suh is born to dominate OLs
You can oink in it
Haynseworth played the same position and signed a $100 mil contract, the highest ever for a D player at the time. So there are at least a few similarities.
Not saying he’ll turn out like Haynseworth (few do), but it is a risk you take when you put so much into one player.
Btw
Haynesworth didn’t kill the redskins
Every other move and hayneworth killed the redskins
Even if you have a bad salary cap killing signing
You can recover
You have to draft well
And even if you have a big signing
You still have to draft well to win
Signing Suh is just one piece to the puzzle
So,let’s oink it
Pig,
The main thing is offering 3-4 million more annually than Miami. If they are willing to do that then it’s really possible.
The pork is better in Miami
Corrected below:
“The porking is better in Miami……for Suh-rrrr!”
Pig has no shame😭

Dolphins have explored trade for Ellerbe & plan to part ways (trade or release) in coming days. Would save $5.7 M against cap, pre-June 1. – @Flasportsbuzz
Not a big shocker. He was already dead man walking, or maybe limping. Real Qs are going to be Starks and maybe Wheeler.
Who is going to give something up for a Ellerbee especially knowing we will cut him
@JeffDarlington: One cap-rich team exec told me he planned to make move for Suh — but market already too high. Like many, exec is convinced Suh signs in MIA.
Woop Woop
And Oink
Been 25 minutes since noon. Would love to have the call log for Hickey’s phone.
Do you know how many drinks I had to buy that chair?
Do tell😆
Pigs boss….”What the fuck is this goop on my leather chair?”
I think it’s time to discuss a raise
Miami’s offense led the league in 3-and-outs, which needs to be considered in this.
Sorry- I read that wrong. We had the least 3-and- outs. I am ashamed 😦
http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/three-and-out-percentage/2014/
LOL. No big deal. D just has to improve along with the OL.
@RapSheet: This is a surprise: #Falcons LB Sean Weatherspoon will hit the open market and is unlikely to be back in Atlanta. Was a priority.

Several league sources are talking about Ndamukong Suh to #Dolphins as if it has already happened. DeMarco Murray returning to #Cowboys, too
—————————–
If I was in a position like Suh, I’d at least like to visit the facility, meet the key guys on the coaching staff and go out to dinner with a few guys I’d be playing with to try to get some inside scoop. Being on a football team takes over your life more than even a normal job does……and it is one you can’t quit till your contract is up even if you make a mistake.
I’m just wondering if the Nike thing is true. If so that could be a shit ton extra he’d earn in SoFla by signing with Miami. I guess we’ll see.
I missed the Nike thing, what is it?
Take this with a grain of salt….I heard that just recently😉 Nike decided that they wanted to heavily re-establish their Miami market. They lost The U to Adidas & they can’t do anything with Tannehill as he is with Adidas. The plan is supposedly for Suh to be the face of the Nike brand in SoFla market.
Once again it’s just a rumbling I heard last night, but I still think Suh goes elsewhere. No it wasn’t a media source just someone who works for Nike who was relocated to Florida just recently.
*
The person who said this also the one who pointed me to the new helmets/uniforms weeks before the unveiling.
Thanks. Sounds like that might be Nike’s plan, but probably just one of many factors for Suh.
Yep. I remember back in the day when Nike and Pepsi agreed to give Deion Sanders huge $ if he’d sign in Dallas making up for any money he’d lose on by signing there.
Lol Trypod
But the stats in this case don’t tell the truth
It felt like we had a lot of drives that ended quickly
The thing about last year we’d have like 3-4 three and outs in a row then get into rythem where they’d have multiple long drives. There wasn’t really the rotation between them.
Yes
Exactly
I would have never known we were first
So Trypod initial reading makes a lot of sense in terms of perception
I think the key on offense is better pass protection and a redzone threat
Agree. Not just pass pro, but the ability to control running the ball without the read option
Part if the basis of the Suh to Miami rumors it the relationship tannebaum has with Suh’s agent
With our luck we sign Suh
Them get investigated and punished by the league…lol
If they have a good relationship, then good. The agent would be less likely to play us.
I think’ they avoid outing themselves after all the other unresolved cheating fiascos
I was about to oink
It’s not just nfl salary
It’s sponsorships
And when you talk about a bluechip caliber athlete like Suh making sponsorship $ in gal as opposed to a high tax state is huge
Like I said that Nike rumor really took me back to Sanders signing in Dallas.
Omar just suggested on twitter that we sign Michael Vick
Funk that dog killer
Never in Dolphins uniform
That way Omar can say Mike Vick is only a backup because the Dolphins are racist, which was why Vince Young was never brought in to compete.
People didn’t realize that Vince Young is an idiot. Borrowed 300K to throw himself a birthday party. LOL
@RapSheet: The #Jaguars are paying DL Tyson Alualu $6M over two years with $4.25M fully guaranteed, source says.
@MrDolfanatic: Yahoo sports reporting Suh’s agent and the Dolphins have a deal in place.
@NFLFilmStudy: Dolphins are cutting Phillip Wheeler with a June 1 designation, which is no surprise. Ellerbe likely as well
@flasportsbuzz: Dolphins cutting Philip Wheeler. Post-June 1 designation, so will save $3 M
@flasportsbuzz: Dolphins, as expected, changing LB group, with release of Wheeler (as Schefter reported) and parting soon with Ellerbe. Wheeler saves $3M hit
Ellerbe is another $5.65M.
The cap clearing and WR and LB revamping is in motion.
The thing about signing Suh is it’s a sign we’re going for it, not just looking to go 10-6 and maybe make the playoffs but to try and win a championship. You don’t sign a guy like that to wallow about.
If they did sign him it’s a long term defensive cornerstone to replace Wake.
I think it’s to help Wake be more effective as with the rest of the DL. Suh will make Mitchell better. We re-signed Francis and we also have Johnson for depth.
Yes, but you need that mainstay & Wake is now on limited time with or without Suh. Age is an unbeatable bitch.
I really think we make those moves irrespective of Suh
I agree with you
You go after elite players to be elite
You sign wheeler and ellerbee I hopes of filling holes I guess
Filling holes is a route to 8-8
Of it happens it’s a big risk big reward move
And a bold move
Which is why this little pig loves it
I agree on cutting the LBs was going to happen anyway but they free up more cap to sign Suh. We also have to re-sign Clay at some point even though we tendered him with the transition tag.
@PhinManiacs: Moving my confidence level to 90. Heard things are moving along as expected with Suh and Dolphins.
Based on this we’re $10.5 under the cap. I think Tanny gets his extension next year when we clear more cap.
http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cap/
@MrDolfanatic: According to Charles Robison of Yahoo Sports, and several other @nfl reporters, Ndamukong Suh has chosen his new team: The #Dolphins
Dbolt, one thing about Clay is he doesn’t have as much wear and tear for his age as most players who were drafted in 2005. He also keeps himself in tremendous shape. I think what we need to do with Wake is cut his snaps and utilize him as a situational pass rusher more. To do that we need Jordan, McCain and Fede to handle more snaps on the edge.
Wake, not Clay.
I agree, but you see how quickly he disappears when he’s nicked up. We definitely need to cut back his snaps.
Who are these sources reporting on Suh?
Dolphins tic might be the worlds biggest Phins fan. Dude always has some scoop on the Dolphins like he has Davie wired. He’s the guy who broke the news that Suh was in Miami because of his contacts at the airport. He usually has reliable info when he posts it. But it could just be farts in the wind also.
@NFLFilmStudy: I can confirm the Dolphins and Suh do not have any deal in place right now. The team does feel good, but I’m not expecting any news soon
*
&
Ian is reliable also and he’s refuting the above.
Marinara and barbecue
Honey mustard
Bbl
Dbolt, I know you know the history on Wake but he really only has 5 years of NFL snaps as a starter. He didn’t play in 05 and 06, went to the CFL in 07 and 08 and dominated that pass happy league, then was a backup behind JT and Porter in 09.
I think Wake can be a factor for another 3 years if we cut down on his snaps and use him more like Fred Dean or Kevin Green were late in their careers as situational pass rushers.
He averaged 47 snaps per game last year. Maybe we start to make that 32-35 this year.
We need to get more snaps for Jordan and McCain at DE
I hope wake retires a Dolphin
But he’s gonna have to take less $ soon
I think that depends on his production. He’s signed for two more years though his salary is at its highest the next two years.
Wasn’t sure if Wheeler would go, but makes it sound like our LBs will be Jenkins, Misi and a stud to be named later. Whether it is an ILB or an OLB might depend on whether or not we get Suh.
Possibly Tripp, a draft pick or Jordan and McCain though I’m still not sold that the latter can be pure starting OLBs, more like hybrid defenders who can play on the edge and drop into coverage at times in zone blitz schemes.
Might have thought we stick with what we have if they kept Wheeler. Gonna be a new boy in town.
Tim
I want to know when Wake is going to be a factor in an important game, like a game where the playoffs are on the line. He disappeared each time we’ve been in that situation.
That’s why I feel he needs his snaps cut. He’s an undersized DE who is a focus of opponents and at the end of the year he’s not as fresh as we need him to be.
We need those young guys to play more snaps.
Matty I @TheMattyI · 2m2 minutes ago
Weeee #Ndamukoaster RT @CharlesRobinson: Several league sources are talking about Ndamukong Suh to #Dolphins as if it has already happened.
Weeee #Ndamukoaster That has been this site for 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
All the ones saying it is a done deal right now are Phin Phans. And they can’t announce till after the weekend anyhow. I’ll believe it when it is reported as a done deal by Schefter.
Stanger, Wheeler really doesn’t help us, he’s actually the guy opponents go after. You can’t keep players like that around.
Didn’t say he was great, only that keeping him would be a sign that we wouldn’t be getting a new LB. And versus the cap he was cheap. Some times you take that in order to get better in other positions.
Ellerbe and Wheeler gone…more proof that Jeff Ireland was one of the worst GMs in Fins history. Steve Ross allowed that piece of garbage to piss away all that cap money and draft picks.
Yeah Ellerbe didn’t pan out mostly due to injury, he was banged up most of 2013 and missed all of 2014. Wheeler on the other hand wasn’t a good fit because he’s better attacking than playing in space. I was wrong about him, I thought he was better than that.
Ross learned about Ireland eventually, but he didn’t really become active in the football biz until 2011. He’s gone now so hopefully Hickey does a much better job.
Honestly I don’t think Ellerbee was ever that good
He filled in for Ray Lewis and did a good job
But you buy the player for what he was not what you hope he will be
And the dolphins signed him expecting him to be more than he ever was
Now chime in some one to site a websites arbitrary ranking of how great he was in pass defense…
MISS GIGI; GREAT TO SEE YOU ON THE BOARD!!! – – My only gripe with what you said was that Ireland was “one of” the worst GMs in Fins history. You could have left out “one of” because, in my mind, he WAS THE WORST GM EVER IN FINS HISTORY!! –Hope you are having a great time in California. Looking forward to many more comments from you.
Tim
That makes sense. It’s time for Jordan to be a playa
The bigger problem was the interior DL faded late and when you don’t collapse the pocket inside there isn’t much the edge guys can do. Teams will just keep them wide and the QB steps up and delivers the ball. That’s why we’re targeting Suh – to prevent QBs from stepping up and that’s when the edge guys feed.
I haven’t seen anywhere that we cut Ellerbe?
Did I miss something?
YES: It’s all over ESPN’s web site.
Tim,
If we started to use him like they did Trace Armstrong, I think he’d respond in kind. Trace was one of my all time favs. He could sack for an old guy.
That’s a great example. Trace also played on the left side as well.
Trace Armstrong was a complete technician. Those kind of guys can be succesful as they get older. Guys like Wake who do it mostly with athleticism…not so much…because the athleticism fades while the technique gets better.
Wake has refined his game over the years. I think you’re under estimating how good he’s become.
He is still primarily bend and rip….once in a while he catches an OT being lazy out of his stance and hits him with a bull rush. Once he’s nicked though he’s done.
Agree here with Randy. This why it might be the last year you see Wake and Grimes in a Fins uniform. Jason Taylor for all the shit I’ve given him played better with injuries than Wake due his natural length and the techniques he learned during his time with Trace.
Wheeler has been released. Speculation is Ellerbe is next.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12439530/miami-dolphins-release-philip-wheeler
I see confirmation wheeler is cut
But not Ellerbee
Ellerbee may make more financial sense after 6/1
FAU’s baseball team continues to feast on the Big 10 by beating Rutgers 18-5 and 10-3 in the first two games of a three game series this weekend. Looking to get out the brooms in tomorrow’s third game.
—————–
The state of Florida has 5 teams in the Top 30 rankings of divsion I baseball. Miami, FSU, Florida, UCF and FAU are all nationally ranked by at least one of the three major polls. If your young son is a quality baseball player he certainly should consider a scholarship offer from one of our state universities.
Wake is still in amazing shape guys
Yes he is, but the fact remains his game is based off from athleticism and explosion versus technique driven. Being in shape doesn’t gaurantee explosion. You never no when Father Time will hit. You do know with each day Wake rolls out of bed that grumpy bastard Father Time is closer to knocking the shit out of him.
I think preserving your body helps delays fading athleticism
In fact a lot of athletes take a lot of steps to lengthen their career by taking obscene care of their bodies
I don’t think it’s not related
Sometimes you can see a player get old and wake still looks young
Well I’ll agree that you keep your career going by staying in shape. The fact remains you naturally lose your explosiveness as you age. You don’t catch your second wind like you did when you were younger. That’s why Wake will need to get his snaps limited. This is my comparison:
Evander Holyfield in his first couple of years in the Heavyweight division was considered the most active punch thrower round to round seeming to never tire out. After his first fight with Bowe you saw the signs of Heavyweight slowing down. The next few years he struggled with his pacing and stamina which led many to call him shot. He eventually switched to Don Turner as a trainer who really helped Holyfield develop his spurt fighting instead of trying to go throw punches non-stop. This pacing helped extend Holyfield’s career and legacy into his late 30’s, but Father Time eventually came to finish the job on Holyfield’s stamina Eventhough he is probably in just as good of shape as many of today’s NFL players.
Tim
It’s not about how good he is. It’s about how he gets it done. Wake is still not a guy who wins with multiple moves. He wins more with athleticism. That’s why he disappears from time to time. When he gets winded, he isn’t able to bring his quickness to bear as much….and it makes him less effective because he can’t beat guys simply with technique as often.
I still think you’re underestimating him. He’s taken his game to another level. It’s not like Trace Armstrong was perfect. Anyone remember us falling flat in big games back then? Those defense’s collapsed to.
I may be in the minority
But I always liked wheeler more than Ellerbee
I didn’t really love either
But wheeler was always around the play…then he missed the tackle…lol
Ellerbee, even when healthy, seemed nonexistent in many games
And the fact that they signed him to be an ILB and then moved him outside in favor of Misi who never played inside in his career says a lot about Ellerbee
I hope we bring in a draftee MLB with natural instincts
I think both Kendricks and Perryman show great instincts on tape
Piggy, Ellerbe played most of 2013 with a sternum injury and I can’t imagine playing LB with that. We pedestrians are in pain if we laugh with that injury. Can’t imagine squaring up and hitting people.
As for Wake, I don’t get people knocking him as limited.
The guys who stands to gain the most (in 2015) if we sign Suh is Wake
Or maybe Jordan if he gets the snaps
I bet if we sign Suh we have at least one DE on the roster with 10+ sacks
Wake had 11.5 sacks last year. Vernon had only 6.5 after 11.5 in 2013. He’ll benefit too. Hopefully Jordan steps up this year with no setbacks. McCain too.
If you study how Wake typically gets his sacks, they start with a really quick get-off. He uses that to get the tackle off balance and then turns him. his quickness….especially off the snap….has always been his best asset.
Yeah, so? So did Armstrong. Quickness was his game too. The same with JT.
Wake has to do more than Armstrong did though. Armstrong did his best overall work as a part time pass rusher. I think Wake could provide more if he was used less but I doubt Miami will pay him to rest. Wake is in great shape and he could be kept in better shape with more rest. No matter the skill set, once you age, you have less ability to last.
At 33 it’s time. Hey Dion and Chris, you hear that? LOL
Speaking old men taking care if their bodies
I dropped a weight on my head in crossfit today!
So trying to stay in shape can work against you too

Piggy,
Look at Wake’s stats. They’re pretty good one year…okay the next. He’s due for an “ok” year this year….and his overall numbers seem to be declining somewhat. Doesn’t mean he’s not still a good player.
I think it’s odd that he has one good year and one off year
But if we had a dominant DT – there is no denying it would benefit him right?
Tim
Quickness was not Arnstrong’s game.
Really? I must be thinking of someone else then. LOL
Piggy,
What? Are we drafting a big time DT or something?
No we are signing one!!!
Time for you to come to terms with it
Don’t give Suh the Soliai treatment…lol
Tim
Or you’re just wrong. It happens.
Armstrong won with his hands….a big part of great technique. He wan’t particularly quick, but he set guys up very well.
New Age
Colonpokey has been working in his strength
Turns out Marc Sanchez’ current situation has Sanchez more wound up than ever
Colonpokey needs all the strength he can get
Piggy,
It’s not that I don’t wanna sign Suh. I’ll just be surprised if we do. How can fans not get excited about signing one of the best DL in the league? It would be great for fans!
And Soliai was a cult hero around here. The big fat guy who got good….for 2 years. Lol
It seems like a little more than a rumor right now
But let’s see how it plays out before we buy Suh jerseys
😀
DBolt
I see your boxing analogy
And I raise you this gif
Um…that’s all I got
LOL
Tell Butterbean to get his trunks on
Trunks off bitches!!!
I’m actually feeling I’ll be surprised if we don’t sign Suh.
Randy, it’s okay if I’m wrong, I can admit it. But Trace was pretty quick off the edge, at least he looked that way to me. I think JT was too but maybe I’m confusing them with Doug Betters and Marco Coleman. LOL
I guess we should brace for a big let down
But I have a good feeling about it too
And don’t worry
I won’t blow the conch regarding Suh
I never thought he was on our radar so if we don’t land him I won’t be let down, I’ll just go back to what I thought we would do and that’s land a stopgap anchor interior DL and draft one as well.
@flasportsbuzz: Dolphins reached out to several defensive backs today, including Saints CB Patrick Robinson and Bills S Da’Norris Searcy, among others.
Tim,
I think Trace was a pretty average athlete, it’s not that he didn’t have some quickness off the edge…which is a part of any good pass rushers game. I just meant what made his game what it was…was his technique….not really his quickness. I think Wake’s burst is much better. He can beat a tackle with his burst alone. It’s about timing the snap too, but wake’s first step is still really good…when he’s fresh.
Fair enough.
Rocky & Spider Rico are fighting, who’s your money on?
To late for bets, Rocky won via KO
I knew the 2013 offseason would swing for the fences and either hit or miss big
But Jeff Ireland’s 2013 free agency was pathetic
Still a shot a few of the draftees develop
But so far the 2013 draftees haven’t made a great splash either
I like both of these guys, both are still young 26-27 and won’t cost a ton, which tells me Phins are saving room to Suh up the deal with Ndamukong. 🙂
