SO ARMANDO SALGUERO says Fox and Dallas Thomas are having really bad seasons so far. –I’m shocked, I TELL YOU I’M SHOCKED, to learn that, once again, Miami’s Offensive Line is, well, OFFENSIVE!! – – The utter inability of the Ross-Tannenbaum-Philbin trifecta to produce EVEN AN AVERAGE NFL OFFENSIVE LINE will be Miami’s undoing this season. And THAT’S something ME, MIKE E., MISS GIGI, and several others on this board were afraid of BEFORE we played our first regular season game. Now I realize that criticizing the greatest owner, the greatest assistant to the owner, and the greatest coach in Dolphins’ history WILL BRING MASSIVE CRITICISM from the “Defenders of the New Trifecta.” But THE TRUTH IS these 3 Stooges of the NFL couldn’t produce a legitimate Super Bowl contender if their lives depended on it!!!

Tanny will be running for his life!! –And Buffalo’s superior conditioning will pay off in the 4th quarter as Philbin’s poor choices cause the Fins to blow another lead. SURE HOPE I’m wrong!!

Coma also shouldn’t always be looked at like a bad thing. They medically induce comas to help the body stay in a deep self healing state, so while he is in it he us healing faster. Omar Kelly ‏@OmarKelly 7m7 minutes ago
Branden Albert is doing scout team work, which hints that Jason Fox will be starting at left tackle for his first game as a Dolphin.

  32. D's avatar D says:

3 step drop and quick passes is the way to beat this

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero
LG Dallas Thomas has struggled with his pass blocking, giving up 2 sacks, 1 QB hit, and 5 hurries in 125 snaps per PFF.

    Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero
Backup LT Jason Fox struggled in replacing Albert. DE Jared Odrick won that matchup.
    —————————————————-
On of the sacks they are crediting him for though, and ill have to go back and look at the second one, was not on him. He had his defender sealed out and Tanny had to move up in the pocket to avoid the pressure from the DE coming around from the back. DE actually got his hands on him, Tanny moved forward right into Thomas’ clock who was by this time starting to beat him and Thomas turned him inside which was the side that Tanny ran to. Crediting him for that sack is stupid, he held his block well for well past what can be expected for the OL on passign plays. Id say he did give a bit of ground so he didnt keep a great line on the front of the pocket, but he clearly was not responsible for that sack. That should have been credited to Fox. Same play Douglas also was being pushed back, so had Tanny tried to slip out that way, PFF likely credits the sack to him, which again would be wrong.

Both OG’s have struggled, but they havent been the entire problem.. Unit as a whol have not played well, Fox has been really bad, James also hasnt been particularly sharp. Pouncey has been pretty solid, but if i had to rank with -3,+3 kinda of scoring, it would be Fox -3, Douglas/Thomas -1, James +1 and Pouncey +2. We are hurting bad at LT. Even when Albert was in too he looked to play apprehensively.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Unfortunately the OL is going to take time. Albert is still dealing with issues, the guards are young and even James is just a second year player.

Bill Polian recently said OL is a league wide problem because the CBA doesn’t allow these guys to get the work they need in camp. They have to get it in limited snaps in the PS and then the RS.

  33. D's avatar D says:

I think Cousins is much like any of these journeymen QB’s he can look great but he cant hold the consistency through every game. Id give him more credit for having time to perfect that, espeically since he hasnt really been given full rights to settle in s starter, but at this point, he looks like he may end up being like Fitz.

  34. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

    Alain Poupart @apoupartFins
Do not see TE Dion Sims in portion of practice open to media. DT Earl Mitchell is here.

    • D's avatar D says:

I wouldt rush Sims back, that was a pretty scary injury. I dont see how he could be 100% yet. I expect Mitchell to play, but i also think Phillips or Fracis are adequate fill ins.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I ain’t buying it. Getting to a federal court of appeal hearing and then judgment takes much longer than that through the normal process. Yes they can expedite in cases of emergency, but what is the emergency here? Don’t think whether — if the NFL wins — that Brady serve his suspension this season rather than in the next is gonna work with the court.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I agree. I doubt anything will happen until 2016 season. But still its interesting that the NFL doesn’t think that.

  35. D's avatar D says:

With Fox starting id chip his blocker with the RB. He seems to do well with the power rushers, but not so much with the speed moves. Chipping with the Rb will help him with that. Problem with using the back to chip the DE is that we would need to recognize any middle blitzes and call that off if we see them showing one, otherwise with Pouncey helping with an inside rusher and/or looking for twist plays we could wind up with not enough to cover the blitz, and you know thats going to be Rex’s plan. We may need to do some roll outs or mover the center of the pocket to get out of those situations as well as run screens and draws to burn them a few times on it. Im still not sure why they arent looking at Turner for LT, i really think he would man it better than Fox.

yeah, i would say 4 years is long enough

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

it seems like we’be been having oline issues for a decade or more. Maybe we shouldn’t hire these oline gurus as HCs. Hire someone that knows nothing about oline. Maybe that ‘ll fix it 🙂

  38. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The OL was just revamped in 2014 and the guys in power now were not here before that. You might not like that it’s still a work in progress but Ireland fucked it up in 2013. Pouncey is the only starter left from 2013. That’s just the reality.

yeah, it has been a while but i was just going to stick with the philbin era.

that fat fuck blow hard even used a #1 overall pick on trying to fix the oline and that didnt work out.

  40. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    tim,

that is the thing about being a fan. we dont go thru regime changes or have time lines of things being a fan. no matter who is in charge we are a fan, so when i say the o line has sucked for a decade as a fan it is a decade, not broken down by different regimes.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I hear ya. We were almost there in 09/10 but then both Smiley and Grove got hurt and that pretty much sent us into a tailspin.

All I’m saying about our current OL is I understand where they’re at due to the 2013 bullygate situation and lack of depth. Hickey had to spend his first season focused on the OL and that’s why he signed Albert and drafted James and Turner. We then had to revisit it some this offseason.

  41. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

IT just seems like there are a lot of penalties this year. Even last night I thought the refs had too much to do with the outcome of that game

yep, i have been saying this for weeks now. both pro and college. tim mentioned it too. it just seems like the refs had some super secret triple undercover meeting and decided to make themselves known each game this year

  43. D's avatar D says:

Penalties have really fucked us. Some were questionable, others werent. Some were calls i watched them not call on the other team, but ultimately we have had a lot fo penalties and most happen at the worst times. I know Vernon’s wasnt only reason we lost, but you have to admit, we had them held and they were at best at the very edge of field goal range until that penalty. After ti they were in perfect spot and had every chance int he world of turning it into more. It was the ultimate fuck job penalty of either game we have played. Previous to that both Turner and James fucked us on some huge plays, James more than once. Its been sloppy play. Ref’s havent been easy on us, especially in the Washington game, but we gotta do better in that department.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

The problem is inconsistency of calls. One of James holding calls was something I’ve seen the pats o-line do all the time and never get called. I guess protecting marsha is way too important for the NFL.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It really does seem bias. When fans see this all the time there is something to it. It’s definitely not called consistently.

      • D's avatar D says:

I agree, hell the opposing teams we are playing are blatantly holding as well, and they arent calling them. There definitely have been inconsistencies. Wake has been drug down from the side many times and not a fucking flag one.

  44. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

D, it seems that every time we make a big play on either side of the ball it gets called back. It’s so disheartening within the game. I don’t how many times I threw my arms up in the air. I guess 18 times. LOL

    How about Bison? 🙂
    ——————————————
Ive had it, its pretty tastey, but its pricey. Also, hangar steak, if you can find it….awesome. If you are cooking it yourself though, check the internet for preration techniques, because if you don’t tenderize and marinate it can wind up pretty chewy.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Bison is very lean right? I’ve seen Bison burgers but I’ve always been hesitant to order one because lean meat for burgers tends to be spongy or dry due to having little to no fat.

      • D's avatar D says:

Its much better than ground pork or turkey that way. Its not far off of beef, and you can prep it using egg or a little bread crumbs to hold the fat in and compensate.

  47. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

D, good advice on Bison being treated like a meatloaf to moisten it up. We use ground turkey for tacos and burritos all the time but we mix in spices and sauces, peppers and onions for burritos which moistens it up.

  57. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think the idea is that there is a belief that when evaluating RG3’s talent there is a double standard

I think its an oversimplification b/c it does not factor in to the financial and coaching philosophy

but I do think RG3 was quickly and wrongfully discarded by the redksins
I mean he was rookie of the year a few years ago

more than anything else it just looks like the redksins are dysfunctional
I would have been more invested in RG3 than they are

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

RGIII got hurt, is not the same QB and alienates his teammates. It’s all on him.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think the real issue is the impasse btw Gruden and RG3
not allt he other stuff we hear
Grduen just dones’t want to build his offense around RG#

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

This is where you lose me as it relates to Griffin. I think they’ve given him plenty of time to prove his worth, but the dude can’t stay healthy. How long do they have to keep putting him out there before they say enough is enough? I don’t know why they haven’t cut him, because if he gets hurt on their roster they owe him big time.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

sam bradford gets hurts every season and he starts every year

Basically put your best QB out there and play him
if he gets hurt then go to the next guy

They can draft a another QB if RG3 is not the future but I donl;t think there is any question that right now RG3 is the best Qb on their roster

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Agree with all that Pig…..but that’s at most bad judgment not racism — least as far as either you, I or Chris Rock knows. This is not like the only black guy in a firm getting treated badly…….like 60% of NFL players are back. Then you get the response to what like LeSean McCoy said in Philly…..”well then Kelly just doesn’t like the real African-American acting guys.” But RG3 is the poster boy for not being that.

ooppsss sorry piggy, i thought you were talking about the redskins not the fins.

  65. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Totally agree with Piggy’s 1:25 post on RG III. I too think Washington gave up on him 2 soon. He looked like a world beater as a rookie where he single handedly carried a rather mediocre team to the playoffs. He got injured, they rushed him back and got hurt again. He has not been the same player since but there is no reason to believe he can’t be a good QB again. Is really worse than Cousins or McCoy? Hell no. He has far more talent and ability than both of those guys. Maybe he doesn’t make it all the way back but it seems to me that the Redskins should have at least tried once more before turning to journeyman options.

    • D's avatar D says:

I dont think they gave up on him Ken, not until he started doing some of the shit he did. His ego, and believing the kype put on him got in his way. He didnt give the NFL credit for being an elite set of players. He took them the first year, they bounced back and shut his ass down the second. He didnt want to put the effort towards getting better and started piling blame on others and he lost his teammates and coaches. I actually think they have given him a lot of chances to bounce back abut he keeps showing them, emotionally he is not ready to turn the corner on maturity, own his mistakes and work hard to improve. As a result he hasnt improved. He needssome time out of football to get his shit straight, or grow up really fast or he will be done.

  66. D's avatar D says:

RG3’s ego got in the way. I dont think the treatment of him is due to racism as much as it is having 0 way to get the guy to try to stay on the coaches gameplan.

RG3 seems to try to wing it, he goes off scrpt putting no trust in his teammates or the coaches to do the job as good as he feels he can taking it all on him. His ego and probably a fair amount of deep ceded personal desperation trying to live up to the hype is part of the issue. He had a perfect opportunity to admit his failures and push himself to regain trust through improvement. Instead he say “im the greatest QB in the league” while truthfully knowing he’s possible one of the worst at this point.

He needs to humble himself, accept his failures, and learn to depend on his teammates. They are pro’s as well and he doesnt show them any respect acting and playing like he cant count on them. He doesnt do this and he stays the mess he is. He as way too much talent to keep fucking himself the way he has for past few years. This is on him not the coaches and not poor play of the team, its on him and he needs to own that to get better.

  67. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Treatment of RG III racist? They gave up (3) 1st RD picks for the guy, but they’re racist now because he’s not starting? SHEESH!

  68. D's avatar D says:

Saying something is racist to cop out of your own responsibility for failure is a travesty and its why someone doesnt grow from their mistakes. Ownership of your issues is when you can stop change and move forward. Cop out like this is basically saying, oh its not me that needs to be worked on its everyone else.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Its not RG3 that said it was racist
      it was some one else

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Yeah you can’t put it on RG3……but the peanut gallery is always out there. Back in the day used to defend discrimination suits. Was an eye-opener on what racism/ageism/gender-bias could be blamed on when none was objectively apparent. But hey, least in those cases someone might have been trying to get paid rather than actually believing it.

      • D's avatar D says:

Right Piggy but if he listens to it and believes it, its same outcome. Hopefully it is just Chris Rock

      • D's avatar D says:

Was my mistake though, not seperating out what was Rock and what was RG3.

  69. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think Chris Rock is off base. This team made a HUGE investment in the guy. Maybe their decision making is incorrect, but maybe their intention is to not make it RG III the Superstar QB, and just get him to be RG III the QB, and maybe he’ll once again get back to his previous level of play.

  70. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

You’re young, so it’s understandable you made that mistake

  71. TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Bradford getting hurt and getting another chance, but he had to go to another team. I also think he had the last big signing bonus contract before the rookie wage scale went into effect, so KC was kinda obligated. RG123 has gone through like 3 coaches, hasn’t he? He had a great rookie year because they did not have experience against him. Once they got it he lost his advantage, and stays hurt. As far as racism, Bradford got chances, but so did Vick.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Bradford also had a non-tradeable contract, and one that would kill their cap whether he was on the team or cut. It made more sense to keep him and hope for the best.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Chip Kelly got rid of black players then signed and drafted other black players to replace them. Pure racism. LOL

  73. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am not necessarily of the opinion that the treatment of RGIII was racist but I think it was foolish to give up on him so soon especially when they lack a real viable alternative to replace him with.

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

In deference to the 2 barristers on the board, and with all due respect, I still don’t see how anyone can say they gave up too early.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

He had a great rookie year and 2 bad years afterwards

This really went south for him when they brought in Jay Gruden
Gruden wants RG# to play in his scheme and that scheme isn;t great for RG3
Its kind of a toxic situation

I happen to think RG3 can still salvage a good NFL career
I rarely give up on players so I tend to be patient

but what leaves me scracthing my head with the redskins is how much they gave up to give up now
I probably would have just played RG3 and let him hit the FA market if he contionued his path
but instead basically the redskins are banking over Jay Gruden over RG3
What has Jay Gruden ever done to earn him that?

I think what is going on in Wash with RG3 this season goes on a lot places when a new coach doesn;t liek the teams star players

        Maybe RG# was underachieving
I’m not saying make him a $100M QB
but at least let him play out his rookie contract after you gave up so much

what is the team getting out of Cousins that they would lose by playing RG3
the way they handled it is just dysfunction all around

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Alot, because if he gets hurt this season they owe him a buttload they would otherwise not have to pay him.

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

On top of that, RG7-4 was more worried about his “brand” than he ever was becoming a good qb.

“In July 2010, the U.S. expressed it’s displeasure over Chinese missile tests in the East China Sea. Major missile tests are potentially provocative and destabilizing. America’s intent in the aftermath of the Chinese tests was to signal U.S. strength with just the right amount and kind of potential force.

The USS Michigan broke water in Pusan, South Korea, the USS Ohio in Subic Bay, and the USS Florida in the strategic Indian Ocean outpost of Diego Garcia almost simultaneously. Between them, the three submarines can carry 462 Tomahawks.

RGJr.jr. is seen by most to be overrated. Let’s say Ken and piggy are right, and that he has not been given enough time. He still had not shown he can stay healthy, that he can stay in the pocket and not bolt every time his first read is covered, and that he takes football more seriously than his brand. I think if he was here, based on how we judge Tannehill (who by all accounts does none of those things, like an anti-rgiii) would be getting murdered by most here- I think even Ken and piggy.

Diego Garcia has been around a long time it serves as a supply and repair base for Indian Ocean deployments in the Indian Ocean. A a/c carrier carries only enough weapons for 3 days of flight operations sorties. Of course the small island carries enough weapons to end the world but they also process food supplies for the fleet so no terrorist can hit a fleet ship by poisoning replenishing food. Fuel for our older carriers and ships was processed through there. In my days in the Navy on carriers the pilots would fly there for a few days of R&R during long deployments. A pilot once told me the island is so small that if one spit into the wind and it was windy day your spit would end up on the other end of the island but he said the best part of the island is they had a bar and the fishing was great on the island base

Just look at what he did as a rookie. He was better than Luck. He completed around 70% of his passes and had a great TD to int ratio. Combine with his rushing he was incredible. You don’t just give up on that. The injury clearly has impacted his running so he does need to change his game and there are some maturity issues but you just don’t give up on that so easily. The other real problem was that he was grossly mishandled by the Redskins in terms of rushing him back and playing him when he was hurt.

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

One rookie season above average? I contend it was an anomaly, as it seems most do. I’m not looking at the numbers, so I don’t know how good he was comparatively. Rushing? I think we all agree when your qb leads your team in rushing/rushing attempts, you have a problem.
