Embarrassing, Thats the way it always goes for us in Prime Time. We either will win it in a close one or it gets ugly and often…
Good thing nobody will be watching except for a few NFC east fans
    GO PHINS!!!

  3. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

If we embarrass ourselves against the Giants at home then we are worse than I thought. The Giants are having a pretty poor season, and getting blown out by them on prime time TV would be the final nail in Campbell’s coffin.

  4. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Their overall record is the same as ours and they’ve won 2 games in their crappy division. We are having a pretty poor season as well. A win is meaningless except for those who have done some kind of common core math problem with the result telling us we can still get in the playoffs.

    • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

Not a fan of “Common Core”? lol
All this game means is either Campbell loses more of his chance to keep his job or he is able to maintain the status quo, (i.e., he is still in contention).
      Tannehill.

      • TryPod's avatar Try Pod says:

*in contention or at least has the same chance he had after last week’s game

        It LOOKS sturdy lol
My wife is in education, she tells me about this stuff. I watched my daughter do multiplication in grade school and had no idea what she was doing. I think they should teach several ways to do stuff so kids that learn differently can best find a way to succeed. On a similar but unrelated note (lol), our new governor has decided he is going to force Charter schools on the state. I expect a big showdown here, particularly in the larger school districts.

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

I think educators should teach kids HOW to properly write a check and balance a checkbook. Also, a required course on PROTECTING YOUR IDENTITY from identity thieves would be a a major life skill each student should have. I’m a huge advocate of utilitarianism in education. NOT a fan of “learning for learning’s sake” something you’ll NEVER USE in REAL LIFE! –Strangely enough, 2 subjects often mentioned as being irrelevant, HISTORY and GEOGRAPHY, have played key roles in my adult life. Conversely, I have NEVER gotten any benefit out of triginometry or plane geometry. Putting more emphasis on acquiring LIFE SKILLS would be a huge step in the right direction!

GOOD DAY TO ALL YOU WONDERFUL DOLFANS!! –Just back from a show in Jacksonville that was a winner for the company. A victory over the “Jints” would top off a good weekend! –Best of all, I’ll get to watch it from the comfort of my living room b/c a co-worker sold my tix for $550 for the pair on ebay! CAN’T take Monday & Tuesday off to attend this game; but I CAN accept the cash! I EXPECT a much better performance from Tanny. 250 yards passing, 65% completion rate and 2 TD passes OUGHT to get the job done, especially if Miller & Ajayi combine for about 125 on the ground. But we can NOT have a dozen penalties and 3 turnovers if we expect to win!

  9. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

Don’t know what to expect tonight other than the Fins have had some ugly games vs the rest of the NFC teams. Giants have the best offense of all of the NFC East teams but they also have the worst defense. The Giants also have a worse OL than probably the rest of the NFC East which bodes well for the miami D. The biggest wildcard will be Eli as always.

  10. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    OD,
The game last week was a stinker in terms of passing offense but the Ravens always give the Fins problems with their defensive personnel and 3-4 scheme.
I think the Fins pass O will be much better tonight. They almost will have to as the Giants will probably try to force them to pass with 7 in the box.

  11. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    BTW,
Anyone see the Texans game last night?
I hate NE but man, seems they always do well to make someone else beat them.
What they did last night to JJ Watt & Hopkins was $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
It’s almost as if all Belichick bothered doing on offense this past week is go into detail EVERY SINGLE DAY with his OG-OT is how to properly space themselves and how to handle JJ Watt on every single snap and alignment he has shown to date.
The Hopkins stuff was expected but I’m always continuously amazed by how coaches go into games without expecting this kind of stuff.
How Bill Obrien didn’t come into the game expecting NE to double off Hopkins and having something big for Nate Washington is beyond me.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

It is what makes the evil hooded guy a genius. He alters his game plan for each opponent and he builds a team that is flexible enough so that he can do that.

Yes it is possible to both hate and respect.

  12. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Hopefully the 2nd week with Taylor at OC we will stick with what RT and the rest of the offense does well. Oh yeah run the ball.😀

  13. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Stranger, that’s how we should continue to build our defense with flexible players and matchup type players so we be flexible for opponents.

  18. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    Tim,
    Yep.
It took Bill a few years but he kept drafting (DB- McCourty / Logan Ryan; LB – Hightower / Collins) and developing (DB – Pat Chung / Malcom Butler) & LB (Hightower / Collins) and the last two years have paid off. He went a few years where the DB or LB he drafted shit the bed and didn’t pan out. Remember he also drafted McCourty to be a CB and then was ultimately moved to FS in 2012-13 and that’s been a big boost for the secondary. The DL stuff he usually did alright with though he did have issues finding solid DE rushers until he hit on Chandler Jones.

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’m looking forward to seeing the Dolphins play a good game. The Giants will score, so I know they will get their points. On the other hand, the Giants defense is horrible, and and we damn well better look good on offense against them. I don’t want to hear excuses that the giants D stepped up, they suck, and if we can’t move the ball on them, it will be an embarrassment.

    • Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

      Agreed.
Albert will line up with JPP so for the most part, their best player’s primary rush side is vs the Fins best OL.

  20. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Al, good stuff about how Belicheat prepares his team for key opposing players, and I agree. But lets also note here that the Texans receivers dropped just about every pass that was wide open.

Blew several huge plays that would have put them in the game, possibly even a lead at one point.
Hoyer also took a beating from a porous OL. Even Ninkovich looked like a prow bowler pass rushing last nite.

Any of this sound familiar? 😉

  21. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Al, agree on Belichick’s defense. We have some versatile defenders already, add to it.

Okay Howie, 23-20 MIA in OT. LOL

In my FF playoffs, I’m down 27 points, with Lamar Miller going tonight. I need a big game from Lamar tonight, or it’s over and out

I got eliminated by Home already..

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

You and me both rooting for Lamar for that extra reason……I only need seven points, but that is only cause both me and my opponent choked. A very embarrassing performance for each of us. No matter who wins the other guys will be going, “seriously.”

  23. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I hadn’t realized this! (from the Miami Herald)

The Dolphins’ Andrew Franks has kicked a grand total of seven field goals this season. He hasn’t even tried a field goal since Nov. 15 and has gone five games in which he wasn’t called on to kick a field goal at all. Franks has missed two of his 10 attempts this season.

We have only attempted 10 field goals through 12 games!?? and NONE in a months time!? Wow!

  24. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

    Enjoy the game tonight Tim.

    Tips:

1 — They will let you bring a bottle of unopened water in.
2 — If you are in the 2nd or third decks……take the new escalators rather than the ramps up (down too).
3 — Recommend the Chili cheese dog with the works, but get a whole lot of napkins.
4 — Worth it just hanging out after the game until the traffic dies down unless you leave early.

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Stanger

It’s not the league with the people from the blog, it’s a different one. My opponent scored well. I was up a bunch early, but then Mariota got his shit together for him, and Brandon Marshall had a day. On my side, Eifert got concussed, and Amendola and Julio Jones were underwhelming. If I had played TY Hilton instead of Amendola, I’d only need about 20 from MillerTime. I’m not confident, but it’s definitely possible. It’s a PPR league, so a few catches can make the difference

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I had Eifert in both my leagues…..that hurt.

And for sure it depends on the scoring in the league. In my ESPN league 27 points is 130 yards and two TDs. Never done PPR.

I need Miller to do either 70 yards or score plus ten, but the ten is a given unless he gets injured.

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Rock

That’s pretty odd with Franks. I guess it’s how the games have gone.

  27. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

  28. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Stanger

I think Miller can have a big night. He’d need at least a TD or 2, and over 100 yards rushing, and few catches would be nice too. The Giants might be the right team to getter done against

  33. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

I’m starting DeVante Parker again this week. I need about 10 pts from him to feel secure tonight lol.

Im up 19pts with my opponent using the Giants kicker & TE. I’m thinking he can get 25 out of them on a good night for those two. I can’t imagine getting more than 30 on a great showing so that’s why I’m looking for a TD from Parker to feel comfy..

    • D's avatar D says:

Ya know, i know he isnt putting up gawdy stats, mostly because of inactivity/injuries but the stats he does have are promising. He has caught 11 of 13 targets, and is averaging 18 yards a catch. 2 TD’s in 11 catches. Thats really not that bad for such limited use in such an ineffective offense.

The match-up is good. And running is exactly what we should do tonight. Lets hope Miller is the mix of Czonk, Kiick and Morris without the drug problem. 🙂
    ———————————————-
At this point he can have the drug problem too as long as its amphetamines and he get 6 yards a carry.

  36. D's avatar D says:

Lol one guy’s comments about the throw back look was “i hope they go back to the throw back team as well”

  37. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    D,
The Jets game was Parker’s awakening.
The injury forced the Fins hand it allowed the coaches to use him in extended snaps since the Fins were out of it early. He caught 80 yds and a TD on 4 rec.
His performance gave him confidence going forward that he can perform out there no matter how his foot feels. He should be solid going forward and used more. He had 63 of the 86 yards RT had vs the Ravens lol.

  38. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Herd, it must be a different David or else the FFB team name would be The Macy Squatters.

  39. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

  41. D's avatar D says:

Stanger, i agree he is pretty genuine, i was definitely put off by some of the comments he made about his daughter, it was over the line for me, just gave me the creeps. Weird hearing a guy make very suggestive comments about any girl who is underage like that, much less a daughter. Im sure he didnt mean anything like that by it, or at least that what i told myself afterwards to get past it but i did bother me.

There were a lot of comments he made though that i can see how Herd feels like she does, im not sure as a female id be 100% comfortable around him even if what he said may have been played up for a mostly male audience. Those thing being said, i still think he is an alright guy, and im pretty sure some of the creep factor comes from social awkwardness.

Rock, I saw your post about the kicker earlier. I was saying just last week that I don’t ever remember a season, for the Dolphins or anyone, where the kicker has been so inconsequential for the entire year. We really don’t know what we have in the rookie. Not one pressure kick yet, and very limited attempts overall.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Having the kicker insignificant is a good thing, but last week he missed 2 extra points, then decided to go for 2 after 2 penalties, which turned out to be the margin of victory. If had made either I wonder, if the outcome would’ve been different.

Ken, I asked if the David in our FF league was the David from the old blog. I have my opinions and not trying to convince anyone to join me, but there was a lot of trying to convince me that I should change my mind.

sure hope i am not in that ‘trying to convince you to change your mind’. i think i was pretty clear in my opinion of that creep.

Not trying to change anyone’s opinion and everyone is entitled to their own. I just don’t want anyone saying that our site does nothing but bash their site which we don’t but you know how shit starts.

sure why not, pretty much the last two coaches were blind too……besides at least when they lose he can sing for us.

Steve, the lack of FG attempts when it comes to our team is directly related to our inability to put together drives either late in the half or in the fourth qtr.

what does that matter? who cares what they say or think. not like their opinion of anything matters to what happens here.

  81. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yeah, I know Son, our offense is inept at best, but under certain circumstances can play good. Not sure how you can score 6 TDs in a half, then barely get 6 more the next 6 weeks.

The problem is, like Ireland just acquired talent instead of building a team, our OCs have been just calling plays instead of having a plan.

I have to agree with Stanger. David is a good guy. We all say some things we wish we didn’t say, but I’ve met him a couple of times, he’s a good guy with a good heart

OUR O-LINE will still look like shit after this draft, and Tanny or his successor will still NOT have a chance!! Get me the best Big Ugly in Round one and another in Round 3. We can address other needs in rounds 2,4,5,6 and 7.

STILL TIRED from the weekend show in Jacksonville. The term “really big shew” has New York overtones. HOW MANY OF YOU OLD FARTS (er, senior citizens) can tell me WHICH SHOW that refers to???

NICE WORK, boyz!! At one point in time, the two biggest ratings in TV history were for Ed Sullivan’s show in which the Beatles made their 1st North American appearance on TV and the show in which Elvis Pressly made his first TV appearance. The network had to agree NOT to show a full picture of Elvis and his wild pelvic contortions. Instead, they only showed him from the waist up!!! Ah how times have changed!
