Is he a linebacker…is he a defensive end…or is he a safety?
I don’t know. And that makes Eric Striker a perplexing prospect.
Eric Striker is a scary prospect to many scouts. And that is probably why he may not be drafted in the first two days of the draft.
But does that make him a bad football player? Surely you can’t be serious human?
I know I know…don’t call me Shirley….
Eric Striker is the type of impact prospect a lot of teams will regret passing. But you can kinda understand why teams will pass on him early.
Like may prospects, you will hear a lot of different reports on his height and weight. But I think its safe to assume he is somewhere around 6’0, 220-230 lbs. Not exactly very big for a a pass rusher.
So can he be a safety?
Um…I don’t think so. That’s because Eric Striker spent most of his time at Oklahoma rushing the passer.
And rushing the passer well… Eric Striker had 22.5 sacks in the last 3 years.
He was always causing havoc in the the backfield, even when he wasn’t sacking the quarterback. Eric Striker had 45 tackles for a loss in his career at Oklahoma.
He had 191 total sacks in his career…I mean tackles…sigh…looks like I picked the wrong week to give up sniffing some particles.
Think about that – over 20% of his tackles were for a loss. He was always making big plays for the Oklahoma defense. Those kind of impact plays helped Oklahoma get into the College Playoffs this year.
Ask texas QB Case McCoy if he thinks Striker is too small to be a pass rusher. Let me know what he says if you can understand it through the blood he is gargling.
Maybe Striker doesn’t have great size for an NFL pass rusher. But either did prospects like Jerry Hughes or Elvis Dumerville and they turned out to be pretty productive in the NFL.
If Eric Striker was an alien weapon of destruction he would be a Space Glider….gliding to your QB until STRIKER! That’s a negative play!

I have heard he is a super intense guy. He plays all out and he has a little issue with foot in the mouth too. He seems really passionate. I actually just tweeted him a thank you for how awesome he was at Senior Bowl goofing around with the kids and just being a great guy. I think he just live loves and is extremely passionate about the sport and his team. Relentless motor. I think he is the type of guy who could overcome size issues, i dont think he is a DE necessarily, but i think a nickle LB or potentially a 4-3 WLB.

Tunsil was suspended for benefits violation, nothing criminal. He has one arrest for simple assault, but this is the circumstance of it:
Tunsil was arrested for an alleged incident that took place Thursday (June 25, 2015) night at the residence of Tunsil’s mother. Tunsil allegedly punched his stepfather after the stepfather allegedly shoved his mom.
I dont know that i can blame him much for coming to the aid of his mother.
I am not sure what involvement he had with Nkemdiche, but otherwise his history isnt as checkered as i thought. I had never heard why he was suspended or what the simple assault charge was for.

Yeah, like I said Eric Galko said there’s something to the Nkemdiche incident with him, but didn’t specify. Prior to that I never heard much character concern w/ him.
Robert Nkemdiche has no previous arrests or suspensions. His only stain was this thing with the falling from the hotel window, which sounds like he was actually trying to walk the ledge outside.
Striker is a lot lighter than Dumervil but they are comparable in height. Striker would need to put on a good bit of muscle to be able to stay as a DE prospect or even 3-4 OLB. I think he ould get away with his size at inside ILB in 4-3 with sufficient upper body strength or as is he would be pretty ok as an OLB

I think Striker is a very interesting player that is balls to the wall.
However, I think he could go anywhere from 4-6th round because of the difficulty of teams seeing him as a 3 down front 7 defender.
He’ll be an awesome luxury pick for a team already returning a stout defense, likely a playoff team.
Like Seattle, Carolina, Arizona, Denver….the rich get richer!
What scares me, is I saw where he said himself that he came to OK @ 195. They asked him to gain weight & he did. But indicated that he’s close to maxed out, he can’t add anymore pounds to that frame.
I wish him well. But then he’s always exceeded everyone’s expectations before!

GD, im seeing Sean Davis ranked as like the 4th best FS prospect in the draft right now. He is moving up pretty fast.

Have been watching a lot of LSU games, so many prospects to watch there. Alexander, was watching Beckwith a bunch (he’s returning), was watching Tre’Davious White (aslo returning), Deion Jones, Jerald Hawkins, etc. I had not been looking at Rashad Robinson in depth until past couple days. He looks pretty damn solid and he’s a big guy too, kinda thin so i dont think you could compare him to Sherman, but he also is a little bit faster too. If you guys havent looked at him, watch a few films and tell me what ya think.

Too small to be a DE…possibly use him as a third down sub package edge rusher, but he won’t be running around NFL tackles like he did in that video. WOLB is probably his best fit. Can he cover anybody? Strong hands in tackling but not much hand technique in pass rush. He seemed to understand and read plays well as you saw him hold the point, string plays out and play angles. Too bad he’s not 30 pounds heavier.
I think he’s broken up 11 passes over his time in OK. Not all of those are PD’s in coverage I’m sure.

I disagree there, i think the comparisons are right, he isnt those but i think in some ways he might be better. I see him more as a Jason Witten, extremely smart football player, understands the game. He would be someone that could really help Tanny out because he’s one of those guys that when Tanny got in trouble would make the right decisions to come back to him and give him a target. He isnt the physical freak those other two guys are but he a smarter player.

I wouldnt be thinking versatile from Davis, id be settled on him as a FS. I realy hate moving a player from FS to CB, the other way around im good with. I know he has played CB but his ranking and how he is viewed is off him as a safety, and he’s a really good one. I could see a guy like Canaday moving to FS from CB, id draft him with that in mind, just not the other way around.

I think he would definately be that. Again im not sure we can afford to do it R2P10 unless we picked up some extra picks trading back in the 1st or 2nd. He also i think is one of the smartest football players in this draft. A few of the Arkansas games i saw him bail out the QB after play started breaking down, he just seems like a guy who is conscious of all thats going on and therefore makes smart decision to maximize his ability.
Jason Witten is exactly who they compare him to. It all depends on what perspective you look at our team with. Cameron was a big fat disappointment, and on his best day, he sucks as an inline blocker. If we let Cameron go, we don’t have a TE, and therefore, it’s a need. If we have intentions of running the ball well, and it sounds like that’s a priority for Gase, then a TE who can both run block, pass block and catch the ball (ZERO DROPS!), is what we need. I know we need defense too, but Henry seems like a guy who could star for a decade as an all around TE.

I don’t necessarily agree. We have LB’s on the roster just like we have TE’s. Problem is, they all suck, maybe with the exception of Jenkins. I know you think Cameron is good, but I think Tanny needs a guy he can lean on, and I think Henry is more suited to be that type of player.
D, I doubt Henry understands the game as much as he should. He’s declaring early. He still has the NFL game to learn which will be much different. Most TE’s seem to develop a lil slower in the NFL, especially a junior being drafted.
Ive seen him do things most College TE’s dont these days. One of the reasons i like Reed (whom im not comparing him to) and Trey Burton is they were both smart players. Both were former QB’s turned TE and knew what to do when plays broke down, etc. Henry has a quality to him that most these that have been coming out recently dont. NFL has moved to a i want freak athletes at every position, i dont really care about their football IQ gimme ballers. Its come back to bite them in the ass in a few different positions and TE has been one of them. I really think Henry is a departure from that where you have a talent and rounded out skill sets that make him a better overall TE. My personal feeling is he will wind up one of the more successful TE’s out of the past few years.

GD, i think Mike definately has a lesser opinion of Cameron than maybe you or i have, but he is right if we cut him, TE will jump up in priority. I dont know if that would make it a priority in FA or Draft, but it would definitely push that need up a lot. QB’s are really helped out by having a good TE, so if the argument is predicated on “if we cut Cameron” id say he would be right we would have to look for a starting caliber guy, and Henry is the only on in the draft i think is a start right away guy. Maybe Vannett, but you have to wonder how good he is because TE’s werent a big part of Myers offense.

I don’t read CBS. I don’t need them to tell me, I watched every game. Cameron was a disappointment, not sure how you can say he was anything but. We have him a big 2 year contract, and his first year he was small. Can’t block, didn’t really do much of anything except stay relatively healthy.
35 receptions, 386 yds, 3 TD’s. We should retire his uniform #. This is what you expect from your #2 TE, not your starting stud.
I still think thats going to change next year. They just looked out of sync with one another. Im optimistic, but thats really for Gase to decide. They may keep him they may not. I think if Gase wants a seam guy, the i feel we already have a good one, if he wants all around, maybe not, maybe its time to cut him and use his 7.5mil otherwise.
We’re supposed to have an all around TE in Sims. Maybe Gase can get more out of him too. His concentration needs to improve!
Know what else I gleaned from his stats . . . . He only catches about half his targets each and every year. Look at Witten, it’s more like 70-80%.

You and GDP might be right, but you’re 100% right that Gase will make that determination. We’ll see what happens. As you can tell, I won’t be surprised if we cut bait with Cameron. Considering he’s pretty much a one dimensional TE to begin with, if he’s not making plays and scoring TD’s, he’s not very important.
We were at a crossroads, resign Clay or find another TE. We tried to keep Clay but he got more elsewhere and didn’t exactly set the world on fire, in a much more efficient offence than what was being ran in Miami.
I get the need for another TE “IF” big “IF” we cut Cameron.
But don’t expect Henry to light the league up out of the gates. You might be calling for his head after year 2. I’d give Cameron another year, he’s had 1 with us.

Becuase they punched it in with the RB a lot in the red zone. Alex Collins had 20 TDs Kody Walker had 6 and another guy added 1 more.
I think im being pretty consistent too. I liked the signing, im still a fan of keeping him and seeing how he does in what i hope is a better offense. I still believe Hunter Henry will be a star. He is a better prospect than i have seen in a while. So i think its fair to say, if we go a different direction, he would be worth a second round selection, and like i have said before i still would feel better if we took him having picked up some extra picks so we can address other needs. We do need to keep reminding ourselves though, we arent going to fill everything in the draft and we arent going to necessarily fill every hole this off-season even including moves in FA. So we need to start getting good players period whatever way we can and wherever we can.
I guarantee this offense will be better.
Lazor had the most unrealistic offense that I’ve ever seen in all my years.
His play calling had no sequential rhythm, his formations and routes ran out of them were shoddy & predictable.
No wonder Tanny & the receivers seemed out of sync. It started with the install and regressed from there.
So unless Gase runs the same exact offense, we’ll see a marked improvement. I guaranteeee. 😉

We had 1 TE who maximized his opportunities when he got them and that was Stoneburner. Sims took a step in the wrong direction & Cameron struggled with drops and seemed unsure of himself in the O. I’ll put blame on Lazor, but I find he was hindered more by the OL and having to help Fox. That said if Cameron doesn’t want to do a team friendly restructure then let him go. I’ll take Higbee or Henry over him to begin with. Both are 3 down players with size and consistent hands.

Hard to say best unless you have see everyone’s every play, he lined up with Borthers a lot at Senior Bowl and man he would shut down one side and Brothers the other. I think its splitting hairs between the two of them personally, though i think i like Brothers better.
At this point i keep looking at it, Jones, Brothers, Morrison, Matakevich, so many ILBs i think are upgrades for its, its kind of comforting to know we could get any of them and be in a better place.
I’m still anxious to see if Zach Vigil makes a 2nd year leap. Same with Hewitt.
But I do want to add a LB or 2 & be done with Sheppard, Paysinger, & even Misi if the pups can show well.

That said, i feel we have 3 realistic options. 1) Get a starting caliber, proven guy in FA, like Cordy Glenn for example and move on from Albert now, getting a guy who will be our future for several years. 2) Keep Albert with the idea that he may go down but we hopefully its not until half way through the season, draft one of the guys 3-7, and have them getting prepped up to take over sometime this year, or 3) Get vet backup for Albert and take a guy like 8-10 and groom them to take over in a year or so. If we go much outside the top 10 in OT we need to think of those guys 2 year projects, and potentially nothing more than eventual backups.
These are some guys i think with training could eventually develop, some of which have a lot of potential they are just really raw and can look amazing or awful play to play. None of these guys though would i feel compelled to draft because you can get the same level of developmental player in any draft.

REALLY?? Now …IF… there are any minority women candidates they will be getting interviews like at a speed dating night. So and so has interviewed for the following 15 teams….
IF there are even any women available to interview. It is not like there are any ex-players you can pull from a pool of, and not many coaches, scouts or evaluators “in the ranks” so to speak. Where will these candidates come from? SMH @ PCness everywhere.

The Bills just hired a female STs quality control coach. That could be difficult when boys will be boys, and that’s coaches and players with language etc. I’m interested to see how that shakes out without any episodes. LOL

I really think Striker is the kind of prospect you draft with the idea that he is eventually a regular contributor to the pass rush
He should drafted before day 3
I don’t think the Dolphins draft him
Unless they are thinking lets ditch Chris McCain in favor of this guy
I can see him doing similar things as McCain in the NFL
And he will probably be better
But there is no room for him and McCain on one roster IMO
McCain is 6-5 250 though, not the same type of player. All I was saying is I wouldn’t draft Strilker unless I felt he can play LB. There is a good chance in the NFL he’ll get swallowed up and be totally ineffective. If he somehow figures out a way to be a good player despite his size, great. I wouldn’t draft him, many 7th rd.

I’m saying striker and McCain would probably do the same thing in our defense
He pretty much didn’t put his hand on the ground in college
So in our defense he would probably fill the role McCain fills in a few of the packages (which I think we’re underutilized) the last couple of years
I’m not that concerned about strikers size of he is part of a rotation or or not on the files so much
But you would not draft striker to line him up at DE on 1st down
I think his size might present an issue there
And you can’t draft him to play OLB In a 4-3 and expect him to be in coverage a lot
The guy is a pass rusher
And that is what he is
He’s a good one too
But yeah – he’s probably going to be eaten alive by the average NFL OT
So somebody just has to use him right
But I can see him being used the same way we used chris McCain in our defense

Also 230 is being generous. I’ve seen him listed at 218. He’s going to go up against guys who are 6-6 325. They’ll just pound him into the ground like Solder did to Wake in that game. Wake is 6-3 but plays so low they just flattened him.
That’s why I would target him late and prove it to me in camp.

Those 325 pounders are much stronger than both those guys
I guess everything is relative
But it’s the same limitation with both of those pass rushers
I don’t think striker is at any less of a disadvantage than a Chris McCain
But I do think he is limited
He’s small. James Harrison is only 6-0 240 as a 3-4 edge rusher but he went undrafted and overachieved. That’s how I view Striker unless he shows me 4-3 OLB skills – athleticism in space. Then maybe in the 3rd or 4th.
I just got summoned for jury duty for like the 8th time in the last 20 years. I really wish they’d choose people who have never done it before. I’m sick of it. This time it’s a grand jury and I did that once already back in the 90s every Friday for 2 months. The other times I went through the 2-3 day herding process but did not land on a trial. I just went through this I guess 4 years ago now. Come on! Pick someone else.
TIM: Once you reach 70 in Florida you can “opt out” of jury duty, if you wish. I think it’s a good thing because, for various reasons, senior citizens nay NOT be fully suited for jury duty. And many of them are the sole provider of medical care for their spouses (my current status in light of my wife’s major lumbar surgery). I really believe justice is NOT served if many jurors minds are not on the case in front of them.
OKAY you hockey fans out there. Some local NHL “experts” wondered if the Detroit Red Wings would roar through the Sunshine State with easy wins over the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Florida Panthers on consecutive nights. Well, if you’re a Wings fan, you may be saying that “Vacations in Florida in winter aren’t what they’re cracked-up to be!!” On consecutive nights, the Wings got their butts kicked 3-1 in Tampa and 6-3 in the Panther’s home arena in Sunrise!! – – – All of a sudden, the ice and snow in Detroit doesn’t seem so bad. – – Or does it??
