The Wedge Scouting Report: Mackensie Alexander, CB

Wedge here for Toots SuperGlue!

Ever had one of those days?

Nothing can withstand the gravitational forces you pass through.

Everything comes to pieces!

Well that’s when you need your Toots SuperGlue!

TOOTSGLUEAD

TOOTS is the Glue you can rely on like superstar cornerback Mackensie Alexander.

Just apply a little bit of Toots Superglue to you broken Photon Belt or your best Wide Receiver and like Magic you are back in space again or pitching a shutout on the football field.

Toots and Alexander are airtight and won’t let anything come between them and the receiver, including bombs!

MackensieAlexander5

Alexander was one of the most highly ranked high school prospects coming out of high school.  He was talented then, he is talented now.

Toots won Space Ship Saver of the year last millennium.  And it still saves Space Ships!

Some think Alexander will be the first cornerback taken in the draft!  Some also think Toots will glue a moon to a planet!

Before the combine Alexander declared to the NFL “I am the best cornerback in the draft”…cocky, you bet!  True….maybe!

Cornerbacks need to be confident, and Mackensie certainly is.

And I am confident Toots will permanently glue anything it touches!

NCAA FOOTBALL: SEP 12 Appalachian State at Clemson

Guess how many interceptions Alexander had at Clemson…

The answer is ZERO.  Guess why?

Yep, you guessed it, no one dared to throw the ball near him.

Like Toots Superglue which never breaks down.  Toots is permanent and not safe for your kids to play with.

Alexander is true shutdown defensive back.  And Toots will kill your pets if they eat it!

MackensieAlexander4

Alexander is yet another prospect with Florida roots, hailing from Immokalee Florida.

I don’t know where that is but its probably full of football fields.

Toots, on the other hands, is harnessed out of the semen of dead lifeforms!

At the combine Alexander didn’t run the 40 but or really any drills at all except the bench where he benched 225 pounds 11 times.

At the Saturn New Products Fair, Toots glued an alien’s tentacles to his own pancreas 11 times!

FBC: Russell Atheletic Bowl: Clemson vs. Oklahoma

Let’s face it, if you are an NFL Team you need a Mackenzie Alexander on your roster.

And if you are an intergalactic agent, you need Toots SuperGlue in your spaceship!

Get your Toots SuperGlue now…look for the sexy alien on the label.

StickTootsGlue

Oh…and one more thing now you can get new MAX Toots SuperGlue.

Speaking of which…if Mackensie Alexander was an Alien Weapon of Destruction, he would be a bottle of MAX Toots SuperGlue!

The detail not being mentioned is yes, we may be getting a starter in Maxwell, but we are paying a lot (salary wise) for him. We’re not only giving up a 4th, but moving down 5 spot in the first blows donkey dick IMO. Someone ALWAYS falls a little in the top of the 1st and 8 would have been a perfect spot to grab that player. We alleviated Philly of a monster contract, and an oft-injured LB. We shouldn’t have given up what we did. Al posted that we may convert Maxwell’s salary into a signing bonus and spread it out over 5 years? Isn’t that what we just did with Suh’s contract? We
d better hope the “Tannnbaum Way” works because we are fucked financially in the years to come.

Tbomb isn’t the negotiator I thought he was. This now becomes a sizable gamble on two injured players who’ve yet to reach their full potential….and we’re a team full of holes still.
    —–
Seems like the Dolphins are currently doing similar things the Jets did back when Tbomb was GM which is scary.
Regarding Lamar Miller; at this point I’m sure the team direction will be Matt Forte in the interim while a future RB will be taken this or next year. Forte will be Tbomb’s Ladainian Tomlinson while Ajayi will be Tbomb’s Shonne Green.

  3. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It seems like all we do with this team is think about this year and next year, and never the future. It’s about time someone has the balls to stop it. I don’t think we’re that good that we can make a 1 YR run. If we keep doing this we never will be.

  4. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

OD, where are you? Help us sort this mess out. 😯

Al posted that we may convert Maxwell’s salary into a signing bonus and spread it out over 5 years? Isn’t that what we just did with Suh’s contract?
    ——–
    Yes.
But Maxwell’s restructure was voluntary on the player side (and the Fins apparently made it contigent to a trade agreement). Suh’s restructuring was done via a team option on the original contract to do so (player had no control as it was defined in the contract).

I read he partially tore that ACL again.
    ——-
Yes, technically a grade II sprain is a partial tear

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

      Thank you Dr.

    • Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

This is from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons:

      Description

About half of all injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament occur along with damage to other structures in the knee, such as articular cartilage, meniscus, or other ligaments.

Injured ligaments are considered “sprains” and are graded on a severity scale.

Grade 1 Sprains. The ligament is mildly damaged in a Grade 1 Sprain. It has been slightly stretched, but is still able to help keep the knee joint stable.

Grade 2 Sprains. A Grade 2 Sprain stretches the ligament to the point where it becomes loose. This is often referred to as a partial tear of the ligament.

Grade 3 Sprains. This type of sprain is most commonly referred to as a complete tear of the ligament. The ligament has been split into two pieces, and the knee joint is unstable.

Partial tears of the anterior cruciate ligament are rare; most ACL injuries are complete or near complete tears.
      ————
The last line makes you wonder….if Kiko’s 2nd injury is rare; what’s in store for his future? My hope lies in that he finished the season strong with 17 tackles the last two games including a season high 8 solo tackles in his final game.

These moves remind me of something:

    2016:
Replace Grimes with Maxwell, OV (and Wake) with Williams
    2013:
Replace Dansby with Ellerbe, Burnett with Wheeler

It’s just not that easy to switch players in and out.

That’s a little loose when talking about what this team is doing.

They say look at GB, Pit, and Cin they don’t go the route of FA, and look at them. This is still a QB driven league, when RT gets his head out, all these same moves we’ve been doing that didn’t work will start to work.

@AbramsonPBP: Cam Wake staying with Dolphins per @RapSheet. So now you have Mario Williams, Cam Wake and they’ll have to add a 3rd DE for rotation

For those of you freaking out about dropping from 8 to 13, if we had converted on field goal last season we would have been at 13 anyway…

  11. D's avatar D says:

Im not going back on liking the players we got. I think Maxwell is a good pickup for us, he fits what we are doing, he is a goo CB. The player i think turns out for us. Kiko i think turns out to be a good player for us, but regardless of my feeling towards this i dont like losing the picks, i dont like losing the ability to add a player through the draft, and im not overly fan of ever moving back in the draft and not gaining a pick in compensation.

    Reply

Naw, we got Dion FF coming back. 😉

But seriously, I’d still draft a DE in the 1st or 2nd round. Mario & Wake are on the wrong side of 30!

  14. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I’m not a fan of us trading back from 8-13, but look at any teams draft yr over yr, and you’ll see how few players actually are any good. In the past 10 yrs we only have a handful of guys that are very good. I’ll still hate this trade if we gave up 2 picks from rounds 1-5, changing slots is ok, except the first rd.

    • D's avatar D says:

roll that up with losing a pick and how does it feel then lol. Its the deal that was reported before that bothers me, the swapping of pick is the third fucking story we have heard so far.

Thanks. My point is we are screwed in the future.

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

FUTURE Steve. Not this season where we have converted $18 million of Suh’s salary and $11.5 Million of Maxwell’s salary into signing bonuses that will be spread out over the course of FUTURE years. This is the worst way to do business, borrowing from the future to try to take care of problems now.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Except the cap goes up every yr by $10M+. We’re fine with the cap, relax. One thing most on here seem to forget is we carry over about $10M per yr, they keep this money for insurance during the yr, in case they need to make a trade.

You guys that don’t get this are the ones crying about the future. You have more flexibility, if you carry over the $10M instead of paying it this yr, and if not used it’s the same thing as paying it this yr.

      • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Yes, but we are not going to have the money to carry over in the future if we keep pushing money off. At some point, it has to be paid.

  16. D's avatar D says:

Id cut Wake, if he doesn’t restructure. He shouldn’t be paid as an most every down guy if he is going to take less snaps.

Everyone needs to relax & just see the end game.

  18. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

    Brian,
I looked at OVERTHECAP’s revision to Suh’s contract details and almost screamed
    Ready for this one?
” On March 5, 2016 the Dolphins restructured Suh’s contract for salary cap relief by converting his base salary to a signing bonus. The Dolphins converted $20 million to create $16 million in cap room and add $4 million in cap charges to each remaining contract year.”

So basically, the Fins have really leveraged themselves so if Suh gets injured the team is really fucked in the asshole like they’ve never seen. Under the original structure, he could have been disposed of after this season with a dead money hit of $25.285 mill (alot but somewhat manageable). Under the restructure, Suh’s 2017 dead money hit is now $41.285 mill (WOWZERS). His 2018 hit is $22.2 mill (similar to what it would have been in 2017 but another year of injury risk added).

Suh’s pro-rated signing bonus charge went from 5.1 to 9.1 (+4) after the restructure.
His base salary for 2016 was originally scheduled to be $23.485 mill (+ 5.1 pro-rated signing bonus = 28.585 2016 charge that was restructured into a new 2016 base salary of 3.485 million (23.485 less 20 mill converted to a new signing bonus of +4 per year).

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

You get screwed when you sign Malik Jackson for $90M and he sucks like J. Thomas, not when you sign a great player for big $$. You do have a point on him getting hurt though, but that’s part of the game.

    • D's avatar D says:

Its true injuries can happen but the guy has been relatively injury free his entire career. Im not overly worried about that, but we are married to him for several years. This isnt a problem for me because i think he’s a great player and kind of guy you build a defense around, but it really depends on your opinion there.

  21. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

What were 3 positions we’ve been harping on all offseason? We’ll we just landed a DE, LB and CB before FA and the draft. Put it in perspective, it’s about adding players, not doing it one specific way. We added solid starters, potentially really good players if everything breaks right. There are always some questions but that’s the case with rookies too.

We’re better today than we were yesterday. Now we can continue to build on that.

2 years $16M was a good deal for Mario.

    • D's avatar D says:

The deal for Mario was a great one. No arguments there. Some of the deals that have been reported for the trade have been good, some ok, some awful…so will have to see which is right. So far the players we have picked up have been good pickups.

    ———
Agreed, the current deals being done by Miami indicate 2017 or bust (dumping everyone including RT after 2017 if things don’t work out on both sides of the ball with the vets and current hold overs from 2015).

    • D's avatar D says:

That’s right, this team is set up to try and win now, not in a few years. If we’re not good enough to get into the playoffs and compete for a championship like every other team in the playoffs tries to do the next couple of seasons, we’ll be starting over anyway. We’re in a 1-2 year window the way the team is set up. Might as well try to enjoy it and hope for the best. Complaining about swapping down 5 spots in the 1st and giving up a 4th rd pick is pretty trivial.

Mario Williams, great talent but may have quit on his teammates in Buffalo because he wasn’t happy.

Dion “Roids” Jordan (still here for now)

I’m to the point that I’m fine with Pacman snorting coke out a stripped ass as long as he covers on Subdays and is all in. Mario Williams, we’ll see. Rex did something similar playing Coples out of position also.

  28. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

    Steve,
The way we are spending, we will not have anything to carryover to next season. Also, even IF the cap goes up $10 million per season we have already spent $4 million of that by converting Suh’s salary into a signing bonus. Essentially, that leaves $6 million per season that it will increase for us.

    • Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

The team is highly leveraged at this point to win now.
      It’s 2016-17 or bust

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yep! I’d rather be trying to do that than be in year one of a rebuild which is really painful.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We just earned $4.743M by signing Mario and dumping OVs transition tag (not finalized, but no way is he going to sign with us), and still have $22M left on the cap, why can’t we carry over $10M to next yr. We also have room to do something with Jordan FF $3.2M savings, if we want to. The cap is fine, just relax.

  29. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Enjoy the ride fellas, and let the Kool Aid flow 😛

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It either works or it busts and we’re right back where we’ve been for years so why let future cap situations bother us? I want to start winning now, not a few years from now when we have all those awesome draft picks we landed so we can win for a decade. That’s not how it works anymore anyway. Guys hit the market and leave. You try to get to a point where you can go for it because few teams are dynasty’s.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yep, play to win now. 4 yrs ago we all said I don’t want Peyton, because in 2 yrs the Broncos are going to suck, how’d that work out?

The only way to have a dynasty like the Cheats, besides cheating is to have great QB play. None of these moves will matter anyways, unless RT steps up.

  30. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Not sure what we have to loose, we’ve sucked most of this century. I’m welcoming all of these personnel changes.

  31. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Steve

What we have to lose is another year of trying to operate like the best teams do. PITT, NE and BALT never do this. We do it every year, and guess who’s in the playoffs almost every year, and who isn’t. Someone needs to be responsible, and say, OK, we’re gonna actually BUILD a team, little by little through the draft, and not spend like crazy every single year. It’s ridiculous. It really needs to stop, or we’ll be saying the same thing like we have been year after year.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Who have they spent big on this yr? We replaced Grimes’ $9.5 cap hit for a $12.5 cap hit(which is in negotiations now to be lower) and 2 starters, that can’t be any worse than Grimes and any LB we had last yr. We got Williams for almost $5M less than OV would’ve cost on the transition tag. We lowered the salaries of Cameron and Misi.

I don’t get your point Mike. Because Pitt, Balt, and GB do it through the draft that means that’s the only way it can be done? News flash those teams have QBs.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

We spent big on the Maxwell contract that we traded for, and we picked up a LB who’s been injured more than he’s healthy. That’s not forward thinking, that’s hoping for the best without a care about the future. Then we signed Mario Williams. While the contract isn’t bad, he’s a risk and we didn’t HAVE to pick him up, they just can’t help themselves. We weren’t really going to sign OV, so saying we took that money is folly, he was goners.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I get it now, when I write something its folly and when you write something it’s fact.

Yeah huge risk with that $1M for Alonso. As of now the Maxwell contract is a 1 yr loner, I wish we could do that with all the FAs we’ve signed in the past 10 yrs.

Mario Williams is a beast, a DL with Mario, Wake, and Suh…

  32. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

#LetItRide is my motto for the season, get what you can now and worry about next yr, next yr.

    Steve

Do we have a QB? You better hope we do, because we can’t afford one now! LOL

  35. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Players we have built from the college draft and UDFA pool.

    Offense:
OL Pouncey, Thomas, James, Turner, Douglas
    TE Sims
    WR Landry, Parker, Hazel
    QB Tannehill
    RB Ajayi, Williams (UDFA)

    Defense:
    DT Phillips
    DE Fede
LB Misi, Jenkins, Hewitt, Vigil and Hull (UDFAs)
    CB Taylor, McCain, Lippett
    S Jones, Aikens

    STs:
    K Franks (UDFA)
    P Darr (UDFA)
    LS Denney (UDFA)

Now we have another draft to add some good players. It’s not as heavy FA laden as people think. Some of the FAs we’ve signed are some of the best at their positions. Many others are guys off the street, journeymen and long shots. What we need is a coaching staff to get them all on the same page and performing at their best together. We haven’t seen that yet. There was lots of dysfunction as we’ve found out.

    Go Phins!!!!

  36. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

  39. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, Alonso missed a season due a knee injury and had a setback for 5 games last year but finished up well. He’s only been in the league 3 seasons. He’s played in 27 games and missed 16 due to the season ending knee injury prior to the 2014 season. Alonso blew his knee working out at Oregon before the season started. It’s easy to look at it that way but all season ending knee injuries force guys to miss games. We’ll see if he can get his career going again and if he can we have a very good young LB.

Remember too he had to pass a physical for the trade to go through.

  40. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Now we are going to sign ass wipe Pac Man. He will stay on the straight and narrow while in South Beach – right.

If we wanted to sign OV, we would have franchised him, not transition tagged him. You can’t honestly tell me that you think we had serious intentions of matching OV to a big contract, can you?

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

They don’t want to pay OV $15M per yr, if he came somewhat cheaper they were going to try to sign him. I’m pretty sure you were one of those that said he wasn’t worth north of $10M.

They really wanted to sign OV, but to something like $10M per yr for 5 yrs.

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

He’s not Steve, which is why I said he was gone. We didn’t have to use his money, but they just can’t help themselves. We could have cut Grimes too, and drafted his replacement, but we can’t seem to grasp that concept.

  44. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’ll tell you right now I like the idea of Ragland at #13 if that’s the deal. Alonso, Jenkins, Ragland, Misi, Hewitt, Vigil and Hull is a lot better than what we’ve had.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think we loose a lot dropping to #13
provided Jack or Ramsey are off the board before #8 – and it looks that way

I think the talent at 13 is the same as 8

  46. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Ken

We can continue to say that good teams build through the draft, and we can also continue to see our team at 6-10, 8-8 or whatever, and not in the playoffs every year because they don’t listen. They just keep chasing that rabbit at the track, but haven’t learned you can’t actually catch it.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

      Totally agree

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We’ve busted through the draft for years, that’s been the problem. Look at how many came and went. I for one am not sure what you mean by building through the draft? I just posted about it and nobody touched it. And I didn’t count the draft picks we’ve had that we’re likely to lose to FA that were also part of us not being a winning team. So tell me what you’re getting at that we haven’t done?

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Maybe, maybe not. After you draft guys and they’ve done mostly nothing for 2 yrs, then start to pick up in yr 3 and are very good in yr 4, like OV or Miller, don’t you then have to pay them as a FA?

We all know every team wants to build through the draft, but when that doesn’t work so well you have to improvise, and that’s what you’re seeing now.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Alonso played the last 9 games of the season last year and had 17 tackles the last two games of the season so why?

That said, FA and the draft hasn’t even happened yet. LOL

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Alonso only cost us $1M, we don’t know about the compensation yet, so if he sucks we cut ties, better than signing a guy for a huge guarantee.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

He was fine at the end of the season
      (as Tim said)
but I don’t think we should confuse him with an all pro

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

He has that ability though. His rookie year was sick. That should count for something.

I’m psyched to have him because when he was a rookie I was like wow why can’t we find a guy like that? Let’s root for him to get back to that instead of being like “well yeah he’s always hurt and probably won’t ever be good again and we’ll probably move on from him in 2017.” Oh okay grandpa, any more good news you want to talk about? LOL

  49. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Whether we have a good D remains to be seen, but it doesn’t directly affect his performance as much as upgrading the O-line, which we haven’t done yet.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

It did wonders for Peyton this yr.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

FA starts tomorrow and I think we target a guard.

I for one am not going to bash our front office for being aggressive before FA even starts when they just landed 3 starters at every level of defense. Remember none of these deals go through if the player doesn’t pass a physical. So right now they’re all healthy.

Players get hurt playing this game. You never know who it’s going to be. Frank Gore had like 3-4 significant knee injuries in college and early in his pro career and he’s gone onto have a really good, long career. We don’t know the future but this game is about acquiring talent and there are only so many qualified players to choose from.

Let it play out. We’re probably going to add another 25 new players between FA, the draft and the UDFA pool which you never know. Wait until we have our 90 man roster.

  50. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

SOMEONE UP THE PAGE said”We’re a better team today than we were yesterday.” –I SAY BULLSHIT until we prove it on the FIELD!!!

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I agree, they can sign or draft all these great players, but it still has to amount to wins or it means nothing. On the other hand I’d rather they made the moves they did instead of sitting there with the same garbage team we had last yr.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      Someone?

Mario Williams is as good as Wake and better than OV.

Alonso healthy and ready to go is our best LB.

Maxwell is one of our starting corners and has more proven ability than any other corner on our team not named Grimes.

  51. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I really don’t give a fuck any longer how the team is built, how much money they spend in FA, how much they spend on future yrs, just wins some damn games and have a chance to compete for a title.

I’d rather they build through the draft and had a competitive team every yr, but I’d also rather they win this yr instead of waiting 3 or 4 yrs for the draftees to proper.

  52. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

HERE’s something to chew on. In P. Manning’s 18 seasons he won 200 games as a starter (200-92). –His first year the woeful Colts were 3-13. But, in his next 17 seasons, Manning was 197-79, averaging 11.6 wins PER SEASON, A 71.4 WINNING PERCENTAGE ON GAMES HE STARTED!!

  53. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Lets hope it all works out. A good coach can get a winning defense out of the players we have. I just hope they still save some money to save the oline. Maybe we go oline with 13 pick.

  54. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

I made it clear already. We could have cut Grimes, Cut Wake, let OV go, and then draft their replacements, we didn’t have to get Maxwell and Alonso, and we didn’t have to sign Super Mario. We just do it because they can’t stop doing it. Then we wouldn’t have to had to restructure Suh, who we shouldn’t have gotten in the first place.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

And that would not be smart after paying Suh and RT. Ross wants to win now, he’s not going to wait 4 yrs for the rookies to develop and if they do maybe have a good team. It really doesn’t matter what we think.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

That’s why Ross is a piss poor owner who doesn’t know how to build a team. Winning in FA is usually a recipe to not winning on the field

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

      I feel the same way

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

We can still do that and be even deeper. We had to change this team up a bit. We were 6-10 with what we had. We’re not the only team looking for proven NFL talent out there and not even close to being the biggest spenders. We made a trade and signed a top flight DE who was cut for multiple reasons, mostly that he quit on his team, I love how that one came out as soon as it was official we signed him. It’s like politics. LOL

  55. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

If our defense is as good as Denver’s, then YES, it would help a lot. Somehow I doubt that will happen.

and I don’t get giving up draft picks for run of the mill kind of players

I don’t mind using FA for blue chip players like Suh

    March 8, 2016 at 8:09 pm (Edit)

Denver drafted Miller, Thomas, most of their OL and their LBs. The bulk of that team was drafted

    **************

I wonder if Denver really has drafted much more players than we have

there are a few teams out there that have been really successful building through the draft
Pitt, Green Bay, Cincinnati to name a few

but I don’t think of Denver as one of those teams (Patriots either)
We drafted 2016 probowlers Landry, Pouncey and Jones
but we don’t really draft well

It really doesn’t matter where you get players
It matters that you get good ones

And so if I’m looking at Maxwell and Alonso
I’m thinking – are these guys difference makers
    I don’t realy think so

but to me Mario Williams can be a difference maker
the same way DeMarcus Ware has been

If you want to be a contender you do have to hop all over that and get every edge you can

but the problem with the Dolphins is – where is the foundation?

I’m not concerned about chasing goof players in FA
I’m concerned with overpaying mediocre players bc you don’t do a good job of drafting

Suh and Williams are good players
but some of our other moves over the years are just kind of perplexing

but theoretically I think FA works fine
But there are players worth your $
and then there are players where a draft pick might be better and defiantely cheaper so you get better quality players with the cap room you have

We’ve wasted a lot of $ on mediocre players

  59. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

Byron Maxwell could soon be heading to Miami.© Streeter Lecka/Getty Images Byron Maxwell could soon be heading to Miami. Whereas Titans general manager Jon Robinson should be praised for providing his young quarterback with players who will help him develop, the same cannot be said for the Dolphins.

Despite a new personnel man in charge, general manager Dennis Hickey, Miami is back on the wrong track once again after making the biggest (and most ill-conceived) splash of the 2015 edition of NFL free agency when it signed Ndamukong Suh to a horribly overpriced contract and received little in return.

On the one hand, getting rid of cornerback Brent Grimes would save Miami $6.5 million against the cap. This move is rumored to be on the horizon. By itself it’s a questionable move, given the fact that Grimes was the best cornerback on the roster last year. Though, the savings makes it understandable.

However, what Hickey is doing instead, trading for Maxwell and his gargantuan salary, along with an injury-prone inside linebacker, is simply ridiculous.

no wonder troll boy still has a job.

I guess you can make an argument for Conklin as well

But both those guys are tackles
So you basically have to draft them to play them at OG for at least 1 year

but maybe we can trade down
Still land a player like Spriggs or Decker
and then draft a player like Whitehair or Alexander with an extra pick?

If we draft OL with high picks, I would like to know its a guy who can play interior OL on day 1

There is no Zach Martin in this draft
most of the guys I see that are high picks at OT are prejocected to be OTs in the NFL

and the OGs are OGs in the NFL

It’s mostly year one. I focus more on those guys than an owner who spends most of his time in NYC playing with Legos and building stuff.

The Seahawks signed guys like Michael Bennett and a host of other guys to help out on the DL before they made their super bowl run
      they also drafted really well

but the bottom line is that success is predicated on whether the players you acquired are any good or not

did ross endorse him? I know the billionaires of S.Florida didn’t. How many delegates did he get? Remember he has to get 2/3 of the remaining elections and I don’t think he has a chance of that

Michigan is traditionally a blue state

      It’s gonna be
      Ohio
      Florida
      Pennsylvania

      That make the election

Am I missing one of the swing states

      • jetsssuck's avatar jetsssuck says:

I don’t think Trump can win Florida due to the last election was won because of B roward,Dade ,Palm beach and Orlando I beilve were Democratic and because of such large numbers population Obama won despite all the replican victories of the small counties.

if i were running for office and i won michigan i think i would ask if i could give it back

I’m pretty sure Ross is pretty much a republican
    I can’t verify

Trump is a NY guy and he’s conservative

    Reagan was a California guy

  91. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    piggy,

was if you or time that was talking about how none of our votes matters anymore. i tend to agree with that. the popular vote is pretty much useless anymore.

it is kind of like this blog, it is fun to banter, bust and caress balls. bitch all we want of praise all we want about the fins, in the end none of it matters. i like messing with OD and how much he hates ross, but in the end none of it matters.

    piggy,

does one drink their water or eat it?

  93. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

GD, Ross has supported mainly republicans. It’s better for business. 😉

  94. finfanrob's avatar finfanrob says:

    piggy,

yeah i agree in fl my vote is more important then someone in NY or CALI. but in the end it all doesnt really count that much

Yeah, I fully expect the ‘selection’ to be stolen once again. Could cause a revolt in this country because a huge amount of people are for Trump.
Why? Cause they’re tired of the same BS every 4 years. The cat’s out of the bag.
People have wised up by going outside of mainstream media propaganda.

But the field goal wouldn’t have kept us from losing our 4th rd pick.

But in that scenario you would have gotten two starters for a fourth round pick that’s good value
