Speaking of dangerous beasts, the NFL draft is full of beasts that will dominate opposing offensive lines.
Take Ohio State Defensive End Joey Bosa.
Or better yet…run for your life from Joey Bosa.
This beast has a chance to be the #1 pick in the 2016 NFL draft.
And with good reason, this monster racked up 26 sacks and 51 tackles for a loss in the last three season.
He literally ran over offensive tackles like a bull staring at a red cape.
Truth be told though, even if he never posts a double digit sack season in the NFL. He will make his presence known in the NFL.
He will do it by stuffing the run …where he is elite!
Bosa doesn’t go around you. Bosa comes right at you, with a powerful bull rush. Offensive Tackles end up getting push back into their quarterbacks from time to time.
And his hand technique is something else…maybe its hood technique in his case…
Bosa is a local. He is from Earth like most of you. So there is that…
But he has even closer roots to the Dolphins than that.
Like many other prospects this year, he has family ties to the NFL.
Joey Bosa’s dad, John Bosa played for the Dolphins in the 80s. His uncle is infamous Dolphins bust Eric Kumerow
Joey Bosa attended St. Thomas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, the lauded football school that Michael Irvin, Geno Atkins, Giovanni Bernard, Phillip Dorsett, Lamarcus Joyner, Marcus Gilbert and Brian Picocolo all went to.
You would think they built Bosa in a lab where they make monsters who blow up offensive lines. He is probably the ideal 4-3 Defensive End at 6-5 275 pounds.
I’ve seen him compared to JJ watt and Jared Allen. If Bosa has a career ike either of those two he is truly deserving of the #1 pick in the draft.
But rumor has it…he won’t be the #1 pick…and he actually might slide a little bit.
Maybe Bosa even comes back to South Florida to punish Tom Brady.
No matter where he ends up
He is a true destructive weapon.

So I watched the beginning part of the Dolphins segment on Path to the Draft, and I like it! They have us taking Reggie Ragland and putting him at MLB, and moving Kiko Alonso to WLB. That’s exactly what I said we’d do when I heard we got Alonso
That’s what Philly did & it didn’t work out. Alonso wants to play in the middle.
Is that the Dolphins plan? 😉

Ragland also rushed the passer at Alabama not that’s this bog sack guy. But he’s not this sloth out there and he hits like a truck.
He outperformed the ILB class in athletic drills at the combines as well. He ran a 4.72 40 and looked agile in other drills. I don’t get all the concerns with this him. I have no problem if we took him at #13 if we’re high on him. LBs still have to be physical and make tackles. It’s not all about LBs who can cover every receiver in the league when there isn’t one. LOL

Coverage issues…not rushing the passer. Teams will expose him on 3rd downs in the passing game.
Like 90% of the rest of the LBs, CBs and S’s. LOL
What if he blitzes on some 3rd downs, comes out at times and we use a 4-5 man rotation at LB which I prefer. You have your big lineup and your sub packages. The game is becoming specialized.
I have no problem with adding Ragland. I’ve always had a gut feeling about him. I could see him being a core LB for some team for a decade. I really believe that. It’s not bias or anything, why would it be, I’m not an Alabama fan and he’s not a Dolphin yet. LOL

Jordan has elite athleticism. I give him every chance to succeed. Yeah, he screwed up, but it’s not like he killed somebody. Guys who do a lot worse than he did come back and have careers in the league.

Ragland was charted as missing 3 tackles all season. A 6-1 250 inside thumper with more versatile skills and athletic ability than he’s given credit for at #13 is taboo? On a team in need of not just overall coverage but LB run defense and tackling ability. Oy!

Nick Kwiatkoski the Mountaineer is a prospect that could do well being plugged in behind Alonso in the middle, learning the NFL ropes. He can also play outside. He’s nice & rangy @ 6’2 243, he was a former RB in HS, then safety early in college. Played LB both strongside & finally moved inside where he became a STAR @ WV.
Oh, Randy….he was real good in coverage too in 2015 with 7 PD’s, 3 INT’s, 1 FF, 1 FR, to go along with 86 tkls, 10 for a loss & 3 sacks.

Yeah, Miami front loaded the contract where the 2016 year will be $6M. That would put a real pinch on Denver who’s seeking a QB & has Von to pay, etc.

This whole process would be an F for the Broncos, given that they needlessly created a situation in which they have to consider matching a far bigger offer for their starting running back. Denver could have tendered Anderson at the mid-tier level of $2.6 million, which would have forced teams to give up a second-round pick if they signed Anderson to an offer sheet and the Broncos chose not to match.

Panthers signed DT Paul Soliai, formerly of the Falcons, to a two-year, $7 million contract.
Soliai never lived up to his “five-year, $32 million” deal in Atlanta and was released after two seasons. He’s now joining the division-rival Panthers and projects to play an early-down role in run-stopping situations. Soliai turned 32 in December.
I had no interest in Soliai. Been there done that.
We have Suh, Mitchell and I think a gem in Phillips. If he ever gets the game down mentally where he sees it quickly look out because he’s another guy that can’t be blocked one on one if that’s the case. Mitchell is a non-stop motor type who isn’t a stat guy but doesn’t get bullied. He can play. Oh no he makes $3.5M in 2016. LOL

In the big scheme of things, I don’t think our offense will be focused around one RB or any one particular player. I think we will get it to the guy we think gets us the 1st down or can make a big play.
So we can stop downgrading C. J. Anderson and acting like he’s a nobody.

2015 Miller:

Also remember Anderson wouldn’t be out there if he couldn’t pass pro for Manning. I think Miller is the better back too but he left us, and he can’t really prove he’s more productive just yet. He has to do it.
Anderson is a solid fallback option who knows Gase’s system and can plug and play and be productive. Ajayi is our wildcard or maybe a rook. Say not to adding 30+ year old RBs.
Anderson is a very good pass protector, Miller is no where near his class.
CJ has also played a year or two less of full seasons than Miller, and both are 25yo.
So we get a really good proven young RB that’s still ascending like Miller.
No complaints here. He’s my Miller 2.0 so to speak. The money savings allows us to buy an OT like we did, and possible a OG soon, that can open lanes for CJ to motor thru!

The point was not that #13 is better than #8 because of the statistical anomaly, it is that their are good players eveywhere in the draft and although you might think there are better odds in the top 10, the truth is it’s not the pick,, it’s the player picked and statistics say great players are picked at all spots in every round.
That being said, I still don’t feel confident in Grier who has been in our scouting system for decades and been part of the bad drafts we’ve had and / or Tannenbum who I think is horrible.
You had me until the discredit of Grier & Tbomb. Guess we’ll see.

Grier is a pawn, TB is calling the shots. Grier and his group will do all the work and TB will make the decision.

I’ve read up a lot on Kwiatkoski & he’s laid down plenty of good game tape & I like his size, although he needs a lil more bulking in the weight room.
He looked great in the highlight reel, but he may not get drafted, based on the 3 LBs we got last yr as UDFAs.
He could be a real good add later if we don’t go ILB early because of Alonso & adding a DE, CB, & OL earlier. He could be a good fit inside. Same with the other Vigil brother, & BJ Goodson whom I really grown to like as well on the inside.
Rock, Grier brought hundreds of prospects to the table but never had final say. That’s not a good way of looking at it. Guy’s who get promoted did something impressive. He will be evaluated on his job as GM now.
Everyone is so jaded we can’t even give new people a fuckin chance. That’s sad but I don’t follow sports that way.

The fact that Grier has been with the team for 16 years through how many GM’s? get’s me questioning my understanding of how the nfl works when it comes to personnel departments. I always thought GM’s picked their scouts and directors of player personnel, etc when they came to a new team, but I guess it’s not like HC’s with coordinators and position coaches. It seams the scouting departments aren’t directly tied to the GM’s. (Grier survived, what, five here?)

We’ve only got 28 players under contract for 2017 with a cap hit of $123M, not sure what to make of that. Stills, Cameron, and Bushrod? are the O starters not under contract. Wake, Jenkins, and Alonso are the D starters not under contract. So maybe not as bad as it looks + another 10 or so rookies including UDFAs. The rookies + UDFAs will bring the cap hit up to about $133M, so $30M – $40M to sign these guys + others.
