The Wedge Scouting Report: Keanu Neal, S

Just one more nail and I get this great Earthling Relic up….

OUCH!!!!!

I hit my fingers with the hammer.

Well I guess that is appropriate with my this relic.  A little bit of pain just like ball carriers used to experience with this guy on the field.

Ahh…there it is…my most prized possession

RonnieLottFrame

Ronnie Lott is my favorite football player of all time.

Old number 42.  They don’t make ’em like that anymore.  Kinda makes me want to save Earth….

but alas…they don’t play the game like that anymore. So screw Earth!

Okay okay…I see glimmers once in a while.  Especially when a young safety wears the number #42.

KeanuNeal1

Like Keanu Neal…

Keanu Neal is a hard hitting safety from Florida.

I know what you are thinking…should we really draft a player named Keanu?

KeanuReeves

Well…yes we should.  He might be….THE ONE!

The one to bring back memories of hard hitting Ronnie Lott.

Boom Keanu Neal is known for his hard hitting.  He plays the game at one speed ——– KILL SPEED

KeanuNeal3

Neal is known for his tackling and collected over 80 in 2015.

The Gator Defense was stacked with talent in 2015:  Vernon Hargreaves, Antonio Morrison and Jonathan Bullard will probably all hear their names called before Neal.

But make no mistake about it, even though he is a day 3 pick, Neal might end up being an NFL starter down the line.

KeanuNeal2

At 6’0, 211 pounds he looks the part of an NFL safety

He is not known as a ballhawk but he did intercept three passes in 2014.

He didn’t light up the board with his 40 yard dash at 4.62 or his 17 bench press reps.

But he did get the top broad jump among safeties and the 2nd highest vertical jump.  So the guy can jump and hit!

If Keanu Neal was an Alien Weapon of Destruction – he would be a space hammer!

I’m glad they kicked out the Finsiders, the replacement is supposed to be better. All they did was talk about stupid BS, like little Troy was trying to interview Charlie Casserly and got roasted, or how awesome Madison thought he did hosting the show, as a replacement…

  2. steveccnv says:

Tim, I’m in the same boat as you with the optimism of this team for 2016. After early last season I said I’d never do it again, but then they went and signed Gase, and brought in the guys they did and now I’m back on the koolaid train. The acquisitions fit the schemes, but nothing really special. I’m getting the feeling we’re about to see changes similar to what SF saw when they brought in Harbaugh. Are talent level is pretty good at many positions, we just didn’t have anyone in charge that could put things together.

    • Tim Knight says:

I’m leaving the door open, but like I said until we see this team we have no idea because we haven’t seen this team play yet. It’s going to be quite a different team albeit with some of the same core players. Even Tannehill. LOL

I saw the interview and Gase didn’t say the guy picked at #13 was absolutely going to start, it was more like the guy picked at 13 would be a starting caliber type of player, because every team goes into the draft thinking their first round pick is going to start, unless your name is Wanny.

    • Tim Knight says:

Exactly! Most teams don’t expect their top pick to be a developmental player unless it’s a QB and they tend to play right away these days anyway.

  4. herdfan says:

Woke up and there’s 2 inches of SNOW!!!

  5. Brian in NY says:

Enjoy! We had 5 inches up here on Monday!

  6. jetsssuck says:

we got our usual couple bales of snow washing ashore . Every week now we get a couple bales not kilos–bales of coke.

  7. Tim Knight says:

It just started with light wet snow flakes. I hope it just stays that way and no accumulation.

    • getterdone says:

He’s a load, but is also an injury risk. Ya think he’ll be better than Tevin Coleman who had a rocky start in Atlanta?

      • jetsssuck says:

I’ve never seen anything like this and I lived all my life down here. The feds are investigating all the cash sales of condos on S.Beach. GEE U THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH DRUGS

      • getterdone says:

LOL, why don’t the Feds investigate the Feds that are allowing the drugs to come in the first place? smh

      • jetsssuck says:

THEY COULD PROBABLY BRING DOWN THE national deficit a lot if they confiscated all the drug profits that are buying up S.Beach condo’s.

  9. getterdone says:

NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt believes that with his strong Pro Day, BYU WR Mitch Mathews might have worked himself into the late-round draft conversation.
Brandt writes that Mathews has “the athleticism and speed needed to excel in the NFL.” The analyst is quick to point out that the 6-foot-5, 222-pound Cougar’s frame is already ready for the bright lights of the NFL red zone. As for the Pro Day in question, the one which hyped Brandt for Mathews as a draft prospect, he was officially timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.47 and 4.49 seconds. TFY Draft Insider’s Tony Pauline had been hearing that a time closer to 4.60 seconds was expected there, making the run something of an eye-opener. Mathews also leaped a strong 10-foot-9 on the broad jump. Last season, he caught 54 passes for 737 yards and 11 touchdowns. The touchdown mark speaks to that big frame.

I hope we get this kid in the 6th or 7th round. Could pay off in a couple of years.

    • getterdone says:

Yeah, we’ve been talking about Prosise. He’s only been a RB 1 year, but has a great looking upside. Is learning very fast, has the power, the cuts, vision, everything you look for…..and if Ajayi is thought to be our lead back, then waiting a lil later for a kid like Prosise is a good thing. Same for Kenyan Drake and a couple of others.

What an asshole. Learn how to play the game.

      • steveccnv says:

The ast. ref on the side puts his flag up incorrectly as offside, but he may have saved a real collision, because the girl in white stopped with the whistle.

What an asshole. Learn how to play the game.

i didnt post the article but the real asshole are the refs. first for calling her offsides and then not even calling a foul on the keeper. not only was it a foul but should have been a red card. at least they did look back after the game and suspended the keeper for two games.

  12. getterdone says:

Hmm, interesting. Saints sign a German League QB to a 3yr deal.

Saints signed QB Griffin Neal to a three-year contract.
Neal set school records in passing yards (5,614) and touchdown passes (47) as a three-year starter at Concordia from 2012-14. He spent last season playing in the German Football League, but he caught the eye of the Saints when he participated in Tulane’s Pro Day last month. New Orleans scheduled him for a workout on Friday, and he was signed shortly after. Neal should fill the role of camp arm and practice-squad body as he develops.

    • Mike E. says:

He may not be able to play OT in the NFL, but I do remember Mark Dixon at about the same size doing quite well for us. At worst, he could be a very good OG.

      • Tim Knight says:

Dixon was a solid starting LG for us for like 4-5 years right?

We need to find a guy like that again.

      • Mike E. says:

I thought he started at LG and RT, and eventually moved to LT. That’s something. He was a CFL player.

    • steveccnv says:

Slow, lazy, bored, but he generally handles his man, he would be a better guard than LT.

  14. Mike E. says:

I think the “college tour” is just about done, and now all of a sudden, my son has remorse about not applying to better schools. That sucks. He can always transfer, but he didn’t really research well enough before he applying, and now he has to pay for that.

    • Tim Knight says:

I thought he did apply to top schools like Drexel?

      • Mike E. says:

Drexel is a good school, but certainly not a top school. He regrets not applying to NYU, Northeastern, and a few others I can’t think of at the moment.

      • Mike E. says:

Funny thing is, he got into Steven Institute of Technology, which is probably the best school he got into, but he got in for engineering, and he decided he’s not interested in continuing with engineering, he wants business. Steven does have a business program, but he doesn’t even want to look at it for some reason. He’s being silly!

  15. Tim Knight says:

Mike, Steven Institute in Hoboken? I went to a party there back in the 90s, good time but what a mess. LOL

  16. jetsssuck says:

Mike-maybe your kid isn’t ready for college. I wasn’t so I enlisted in NAvy and went to military trade school 9months and then served out my remaining obligation visiting 14 countries while aboard JFK and Nimitz. I took 1 or 2 classes every semester where I got AA degree from UF. When I got out I decided I liked what I did in military and they credited me with another 24 credits from my military school. I had only 1 and quarter to graduate with a BS but I wanted to experience the college life and it took me almost 3 years. Now a days military has the old GI bill so one can get free money when attending. Military also offers lifetime benefits and connections also.

  17. Mike E. says:

    Yes, Steven’s in Hoboken

    • Tim Knight says:

It was like a wandering building of hallways and separate parties. But you have to be smart to get in there even if you let you hair down at times. LOL

  18. Mike E. says:

    Jetssuck, he’s totally ready

  19. getterdone says:

    Adam Schefter
Jets acquired LT Ryan Clady and a seventh-round pick from the Broncos for a fifth-round pick.

    • Tim Knight says:

Clady might be damaged goods. He’s suffered both a Lisfranc injury in 2013 and an ACL injury in 2015. He hasn’t played for a year. He’ll be 30 at the start of the season.

    • steveccnv says:

That’s a good move for the jets, as long as the Clady contract isn’t too high and he plays/plays adequately. Ferguson retiring cost them a 5th, and they most likely saved money, but lets see how he plays.

  20. steveccnv says:

Clady is expected to sign a new contract with the Jets. He had two years, $19.5 million remaining on his previous contract, which he signed in 2013.

The Broncos talked with Clady’s agent about restructuring his contract, but the discussions went nowhere and the defending Super Bowl champions responded by signing Okung.

So if the Broncos tried restructuring and he said no, why would he take less money from the jets, or are they just trying to save cap space in 2016?

  21. getterdone says:

Clady had been on the trade block since the Broncos signed Russell Okung at the start of free agency. He’ll take over at left tackle for the Jets after D’Brickashaw Ferguson’s retirement. Clady agreed to restructure his $9.5M salary as part of the deal. He hasn’t played a game since 2014, but gives the Jets a proven starter if he can stay healthy. The move also clears Denver’s cap space for a potential Colin Kaepernick trade.

A Statement from Bruce Springsteen on North Carolina
    BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN·FRIDAY, APRIL 8, 2016

As you, my fans, know I’m scheduled to play in Greensboro, North Carolina this Sunday. As we also know, North Carolina has just passed HB2, which the media are referring to as the “bathroom” law. HB2 — known officially as the Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act — dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use. Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace. No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress. Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments. Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters. As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th. Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them. It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s Sunday April 10th show is canceled. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.

    • getterdone says:

Dumbass! Bruce, what about the fans that planned well in advance to see you & paid to see you, traveled, etc etc.

But, Tim, I thought your comments were REALLY FUNNY!!!!!
    ————————————-
My many weeks of working one weekend after another has robbed me of some of the time I’d use to see movies my wife and I REALLY WANT TO SEE!! –One of those movies was “Concussion,” starring Will Smith. As most of you likely know, it follows Dr. Olamu through the discovery process of how he detected CTE and what caused this horrid, deadly, disease that is unquestionably caused by repetitive blows to the brain. Exactly how did Olamu come to his conclusions? How solid is the science? And how hard did the NFL fight the idea of the very existence of CTE? –If you have NOT seen this movie, and if you are a football fan, YOU NEED TO SEE IT!!! –What it says about Goodell and the owners IS NOT GOOD. I’ve ALWAYS THOUGHT GOODELL WAS A COMPLETE ASSHOLE. This movie did NOT change my ultra low opinion of him. –The bottom line is THIS. Better helmets, better equipment, and a continued tweaking of the rules are all parts of a strategy to lower CTE and associated brain injuries. LOUSY owners like Ross will not turn me away from the sport I love. But refusing to adequately address the issue of CTE will drive me away from the sport, PERMANENTLY!! See the movie. Decide for yourself.

Former Saints DE Will Smith was shot and killed Saturday night in New Orleans.
Smith was 34. Police believe the shooting was the result of a road rage incident. Smith reportedly exchanged words with another driver after his Mercedes G63 was rear-ended by a Hummer H2, causing Smith to strike a third vehicle. Smith’s wife was hospitalized after being shot twice in the right leg. The Hummer driver and shooting suspect is now in police custody. Smith spent 10 seasons with the Saints, appearing in one Pro Bowl and winning a Super Bowl in 2009. He leaves behind a daughter and two sons. It’s a devastating loss for the NFL. Our thoughts are with Smith’s family.

Based on that tape he sucks. He got knocked off of his coverage on the long TD, he doesn’t turn his head around, so he doesn’t get int and passes defensed. Wasn’t he the guy they said didn’t have an int, but didn’t give up a TD? I think we just saw he did give up a TD.

      • Tim Knight says:

He hasn’t allowed a TD in his last 20 games or something like that, not that he never gave one up. You don’t grade a player on one play.

      • steveccnv says:

I’m not grading him on one play, I just said what I saw on that play, I’m grading him on that tape, and he sucks in that tape. Why do I keep hearing he didn’t give up a TD when he got beat on that play in Nov. 2015?

  39. getterdone says:

Giants signed LB Kelvin Sheppard, formerly of the Dolphins.

There is no further information as to the exact cause of the arrest at this time, but expect details to filter in in the coming hours. Got shellacked both games. We played the team that lost in the championship last year, and they looked much better than us. They have practiced and hit the batting cages, whereas my team did nothing. It showed! Got shutout game 1, and and we were close in game 2, the game I pitched until the 5th, trailing 4-2, and then errors and big hits for the other team opened the floodgates. We looked like it was our first action of the year, no one looked ready. We deserved to lose, and lose we did. Hopefully, we’re in better shape next week, or it will be a long season.

Tell the truth Mike, you were grooving your pitches right in everyone’s wheelhouse. 🙂

    • Mike E. says:

In the later innings, you’re not wrong. Oddly enough, I had excellent control in the first 4 innings, and then in the 5th, I lost some velocity off my fastball, and I didn’t locate as well as I had earlier, and I also left a couple of change ups up in the strike zone, I had intended them to drop down earlier, but that’s what happens w/o practice!

  49. Tim Knight says:

The Mets’ bats are cold and the pitching is there. Hopefully they warm up soon.

  50. jetsssuck says:

Sounds like the 5th inning was like the Masters defending champ losing it on par3 12th.

  51. Mike E. says:

Thanks Bri – Yeah, the Mets looked pretty much like they looked all exhibition season. Bats are still asleep.

  52. getterdone says:

Ahh, sorry to hear that Mike. You’ll do better as the season gets going, same with the talent rich Mutts.
Now my Bravos are off to a hot start….NOT 0-5. Oh how I miss the Bobby Cox days….lol

    • Mike E. says:

Yeah man, how the mighty have fallen. They’re (Bravos) in rebuilding right now, but they will be back soon enough, I’m sure. Very strong organization, although I don’t get why they left the stadium they built not too long ago.

      • getterdone says:

Thanks, they are rebuilding with 2017 said to be the year to get back in the race when they open in the new park. But they 1st need to get rid of Mgr. Fredi Gonzales. He has very little clue of fundamental baseball. He’s the Joe Philbin of MLB managers….lol

I don’t blame him. He’s f*cked this team up so badly, I’d want to escape the mess he made also. That’s pretty weak though. Only good move he made was drafting Porzingis.

Why do people keep saying the Rams will trade with us? They want a QB, we don’t and neither do the Raiders, so why would they want to move up 2 spots? To do it out of fear of someone else moving up is Wanny/Spielbergesque, and isn’t going to happen.

    • getterdone says:

Yeah I was reading that the Rams don’t want him, rather keep Keenum & draft a QB.
I guess prof Lou, Son, Piggy and a couple others will want us to trade for Foles.

    gdp,
I want to see tanny play behind the same starting line most of the season. I just hope we make sure that the guards and backup tackle is shored up. That’s job 1 on offense IMO. keeping tanny’s jersey clean.

Amen brother. I was reading where 13 games were missed collectively by Albert, Pouncey, James last year. That’s nearly a whole season w/o the strength of our OL playing together. Add to that Lazor’s BS bizarre play calling and it was a recipe for suckatude!

  56. steveccnv says:

Looking at the stats from last yr, Miller had 4 good games, Titans, Texans, Ravens all wins and Giants loss. The rest of the yr he sucked. I know we didn’t give it to him enough, but he didn’t get it more, because he wasn’t getting it done. Are we better off without him, yeah, I think so.

come back kid needs 2 birdies in final 3 holes. After 12 he was behind by 5. What a finish.

Patriot fans really sued the NFL over a lost draft pick? That’s too funny! I thought it was a joke. Lol

  59. Rhino says:

Knicks fans… don’t blame Phil Jackson… blame Carmelo “watch me shoot” Anthony. Free Agents avoid the Knicks like they do the Rockets cuz no one wants to hang around and watch someone dribble for 12 seconds in iso and then shoot. 🙂

  60. Darn right I’d want Foles. I wanted him in ’12 and I’d take him now.

THIS is what it felt like to be a Dolphins fan in the 70’s. Every week a new record.
