It’s been such a long time, so much has happened, so many things have changed since we last saw the no. 3 overall pick from the 2013 Draft. But alas, Dion Jordan has been reinstated on a conditional basis to begin his comeback with the Miami Dolphins.
Jeff Ireland, the guy who drafted him, thankfully is long gone. Joe Philbin, his first NFL head coach is gone.
Dennis Hickey the GM who managed to add enough talent to almost make him forgotten is also gone. However, one guy who wasn’t here is now here and it may make all the difference in the world. Kiko Alonzo his former team mate and room mate in college at Oregon. Alonzo has proclaimed Jordan to be healthy and focused. Time will tell, and tell quickly as Jordan must prove during this training camp that he is ready to continue his NFL career without incident.
New Dolphin head coach Adam Gase has said Jordan will be evaluated by his performance and that Gase has no prior familiarity with the player. For Jordan’s sake that’s a good thing. The only thing Dolphin fans can hope for is that Jordan passes his upcoming tests with flying colors and becomes a force on a defense everyone feels has made some improvements as we head into the 2016 season.
Best of luck Dion Jordan

Hopefully Jordan has his shit together and helps the defense. In our new aggressive scheme he could excel in the wide 9 at DE or even as a standup OLB in some situations.
Great tune by the way, Son.
It’s funny I’ve read some of the TC tweets and the reporters still get caught up in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th team stuff. There are no defined depth charts yet. This goes on every year. You would think they would know this by now.
they think it makes them look knowledgeable
Geez WTF?!!!!

I don’t want the best seats Steve. Those prices are for upper level seats in the corner. My gripe is with the escalating ticket prices depending on the opponent. It’s highway robbery. Ross was lauding himself as a savior for paying for the upgrades himself, but in reality the fans are paying for them through this method of pricing.
—————————————————
I was saying the upper deck seats were the best seats, but you guys like to watch the cheerleaders and try to look over the bench players to see the game. The worst seats I’ve ever had were on the 50 3 rows from the field at a Rosebowl game and on the 35 about 25 rows up in SF watching the Dolphins. The 3 season seats my family had in the OB were upper deck 2nd to last row on the 5 yard line, great seats, and 2 on the 30 in the upper deck about where the guy used to have the Garo sign (every time Garo kicked the guy would wave it, and the fans would say Garo, Garo… OD anyone, anyone)
Okay, so you would be happy paying over $400 for two seats in that location? Because that’s what they cost.
Ticket prices for everything has become absurd.
No, I was making a joke about what you guys think are good seats.
Does anyone know when the first practice with pads on is? That’s when you start to see what you have.
The CBA rule is that the first 3 days of camp are without pads, so I’d say Monday.
I think the rule is on the 3rd day, which would be Sunday.
Here’s the rules:
Training Camp practice rules
We covered this in depth last week in our Training Camp Primer, but here are the basics. The first two days of practices may not include pads, under NFL rules. As of the third practice, the team can start using pads, as well as transition to “two-a-day” workouts, with the first practice padded (not exceeding three hours in pads total), followed by at least a three hour break, and then a second practice, but only a “walk-through” type of workout (defined as no helmets and conducted at half-speed following the snap).

Drake has a chance to be a huge weapon for us as both a rusher and receiver. You can’t teach his speed. He also displays good moves and power. The things he needs to avoid are injuries and some fumbling issues.
I can’t see your posts.
Yeah, Drake has all the ability in the world to become a star in this league. I hope the proper training will keep him on the healthy side more oft than not.
LOL, seriously a lot of your posts are blank and links get filtered out for me likely due to my security settings so maybe some of your links contain viruses. It’s not my computer, I can view them in other browsers but I prefer the one I use and my settings. 🙂
He’s got great vision, speed, and moves. We know this, because no one really puts a hand on him in this video. Not sure what kind of inside power he has, but he doesn’t appear to be weak.
He’s similar to Ajayi but with more speed, they’re not pure inside runners, but they have the ability to change with what’s going on. RB might be a very productive position for us this year.
Gotcha Steve. The seats Stanger has aquired are very high up there, but you do get a good view of everything that is happening on the field. That said, I do prefer being lower. But that’s not an option if we all want to sit together, which is worth it for the nose bleed seats. We had such a great time last year in the game against the Texans. It wouldn’t have been as fun if we didn’t experieince it together.
Steve & Tim, yeah I have said before that Drake reminded me of a bigger stronger better Percy Harvin….and he will be that and more as long as he isn’t out all the time like Percy….what a waste of talent with Percy.
Drake has that ‘can be special’ uniqueness to him!
Agreed! We both liked him early on. Because he was on Alabama I saw a few of his games over the last few years and always liked him. Once he gets moving he separates from the pack. The only way you catch him is if you have an angle. But he has more skills than just speed, he’s a football player. Plays gunner on ST’s coverage too.
I hadn’t thought of that, but now that you mention it… Percy wasn’t too bad in the SB vs the Donkies either. Drake is everything Grant is in the open field. We may have some big plays this year.
Man that song just makes me want to grow my hair out, out on my favorite cords and smoke a doobie on the beach
LOL
Because we’re one of the 3 youngest teams in the league the bearded coconut says we still have depth issues.
youngest team in the league is a good thing….means we have a lot of budding talent, and with the right coaching now, many of those budding talents can become very good.
Yesss, I too see big play potential all over the Offense, between the talent we’ve built to the new proven scheme that Gase will employ…gonna be good again….and it will help the Defense….that’s why I couldn’t agree with those here whining about not drafting more defense.
We start putting points on the damn board, then the Defense can be very aggressive and it will take care of itself.
I’m kind of with you on this, but your POV on not drafting D makes no sense. Yes, the O scoring more points and playing better will help the D, but that D we had last year after Wake got hurt stunk, improvement was needed. I think with the improved O schemes and the added weapons on O, and guys like Parker, Stills, and Cameron having another year on the team will help the D, but adding guys like Mario, Alonso, Maxwell, Quddus, and getting Wake back will help more than anything we could’ve added in the draft. We added Howard in the draft, who I liked more than any CB that went in front of him. Getting a DE or LB in the first won’t help the D more than Tunsil will indirectly. I also like the change in philosophy of going to an attacking style with taller corners.
What will they come up with next, Bill Barnwell from ESPN writes an article about The 2015 Pythagorean Expectation numbers, it goes something like this:
Take the previous yrs pts and divide it by pts for + pts given up and multiply it by 16, and that should give you your win total the next season, so we should win 7 games this yr. To have it come out to 15-1 like the Panthers were last year you’d have to score 500 pts and give up 50. Just another way these assholes put some numbers together to try and back their point of view.
Turnover differential to me is BS too, because in general when teams are trailing they take more chances, which lead to more turnovers. For TOs to be an accurate W/L stat you need to count only the TOs in the first 3 qtrs., and only when trailing by 7 or less at the time of the TO. A TO when trailing by 10 pts in the second had nothing to do with the team leading getting that lead.
Score a lot and pressure the opponent’s offense is the formula. Can we do it?
Steve, right but you can’t draft everything you want all in one offseason. Plus just like the Offense getting a new scheme, the Defense is too…VJ will be a breath of fresh air over Coyle.
We avg’s what 19pts last season? So the bigger need was on offensive changes….1 more TD per game puts us @ 26 PPG…..that’ll win a lot of games.
Our Defense as bad as it was last season gave up am avg of 24PPG from what I remember. So a 3+ point swing for the good there should really put this team on the right track as well.
I agree with all of that, you’re just not listing the right reasons IMO why it was OK not to draft more on D. You mention nothing about the players we got in trade/FA and Wake, those I believe were the main reasons why we didn’t need to draft more defenders.
lol, ok…I figured that was a given….I’ve mentioned that back a day or 2 after the draft…but yep, you’re right….it’s not like we totally neglected the Defense.
I’m hoping also that our 2nd round pick Howard rebounds quickly from the knee scope.
Ok, then my mistake, and I agree.
Bobby Mc is back, off the PUP list, Stoneburner was cut and we signed scrub CB Rashaan Melvin. Melvin joins the Dolphins after spending the 2015 season with the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots. He played in nine games – eight for New England and one for Baltimore – and totaled five tackles (three solo) in 2015. Melvin played in three contests and started two for the Ravens in 2014.
Here’s as good of a strength of schedule indicator as anything I’ve heard of: using the over-under measures set by Vegas before the season to estimate team W/L.
What’s is this? I came here looking for my favorite pizza blog and here is some post about some football player!
Adam Gase calls out Omar Kelly & Chris Perkins
Near the end of the second day coaches post practice interview question and answer session, Coach Gase after being asked leading question after leading question about the quarterbacks (Tannehill) accuracy in red zone drills finally alluded he was tired of the negativity. He said he was pleased with the play if his quarterbacks. You could almost read Coach Gase’s mind: “You idiots haven’t a clue. Quit asking me stupid questions.” His exact words were, “they’re doing better than how negative you want to be about it. They’re doing good
Man I like Adam Gase more and more everyday
It didn’t take Gase long to figure those two out. Philbin used to say similar shit all the time to Omar.

Yep, potatoe and cocoanut, SMH 😛
Arian Foster has been activated and has already had an impact run. After watching 2015 full game film, I’m not sold on Ajayi yet, he didn’t run with the power last year that he did in college. I see Foster being the day 1 starter, if he’s healthy.

Xavien Howard’s rehab work is pretty extensive. He doesn’t have a knee brace or anything. Won’t be long before he’s cleared to practice.
————————————————–
Camp updates and comments like this are Omar’s strengths, his opinion on football is his weakness.
dstock21Let me say something here. Tannehill only played WR to get on the field because he was a freshman and wasnt going to start at qb so he played wr. He is not a WR playing QB he was a QB playing WR until the QB spot opened up.
————————-
This should be posted for the media to read, they’ve interpreted his playing WR in college as his first position.
Miami Dolphins defensive end Chris McCain bolted off the line of scrimmage, quickly got into the backfield on quarterback Brandon Doughty’s blind side, and would have recorded a strip-sack (caused a fumble while sacking the QB) if defenders were allowed to hit the quarterbacks.
Chris Perkins

I’ve been hearing stuff like this all offseason from McCain, I wonder if he’s been a victim of previous coaches not knowing how to use him, or if he’s finally gotten a clue?

The secondary, which has less talent than last year’s historically bad unit, is paper thin.Hope & prayer (Vance Joseph) is suppose to fix it
As he sucks on Miko’s boner cake
We have upgrades at both corner spots, McCain in year 2 in the slot and got more depth at safety so he’s being a miko lover. It’s like the dems telling you the economy is great.
You can say we have less experience than last yr, but to say less talent is his opinion, and something he calls a truth. He’s living in his own private Idaho, and his clones that twit to him just give him a big head. He had one guy this morning that said he loves what Omar does, and this is his first time twitting to him. Omar responds with play by the rules. I mean what a fuckin’ asshole to say that to someone that just sucked your dick.
Dion Jordan is already injured and out of action for weeks.
He arrived with a knee injury suffered while in private workouts and had to have surgery.
He is now on the NFI list and maybe the PUP list.
Gase says the Dolphins knew nothing about it.
The Dolphins also cut CB Tyler Patmon and signed a guy Brandon Harris from UMiami who played for Houston when Vance Joseph was DB coach and I think he started the guy 16 games.
Very smart pickup.
I got this news from Omar, so it was incomplete, only what fit his agenda. Interesting that he played for VJ, and they signed him over some big names.
Arian has already been activated off the PUP and has already made a great play in practice.
Read before you post, you owe me a beer😉
I think Brice McCain is also already off the PUP.

Doo Doo dooop
I keep hearing negative things about injuries to DBs
What’s our depth chart look like?
Who is injured?
Only Howard, he’ll be back real soon though, if you believe the bearded coconut.
Dion Jordan will be in about 2-3 weeks. Not a big issue. Saved the team $1.69M
poetic justice … besides it’ll take him awhile to get acclimated and he’s only allowed to attend meetings and such anyway until he gets the watchdogs set up in Miami. So meh

Lol, after reading this I went to check on the Dodgers score and the last out was just made by AZ, in the top of the 5th a strikeout by, you guessed it Bourn.
WELL IT’S ANOTHER GREAT DAY IN TAMPA BAY!!–As I head out the door, I’m wondering what happens when GIANCARLO STANTON’S BAT MEETS AROLDIS CHAPMAN’S 102 MPH FASTBALL??? – – Tonight, we may find out as the Marlins return to the site of some of their greatest victories when they take on the Cubbies at Wrigley Field at 8 PM Eastern Time. Now this is ONLY a regular season game, NOT a playoff game. So the stakes aren’t quite as high as they could be. But I’m sure Cubs players and fans want to get even for their 3 losses in the “SOUTH BEACH SHOWDOWN SERIES” played in Miami before the All-Star break.

When you’ve had the results the Fins have had, since 2008, people tend to ocerreact.
It’s the same every year. This is TC, a time to get into football shape both mentally and physically. Each performance tweet doesn’t mean a whole lot either, it’s not game oriented stuff. It’s practice to get ready for the PS and RS.
from the tweets it seems like the CBs got roasted today. Howard needs to get healthy quick.
I saw one where Lippett got beat by Parker, but Parker can beat anyone, so…others I heard getting beat were the scrubs. Maxwell made several straps breaking up passes.
I doubt Howard is really going to make or break the secondary as a rookie second rounder
We need guys like Maxwell, Lippett, McCain and my dark horse Ifooooooooooooooo to perform
Howard should be going into a no pressure situation and be eased into starting
All is well, except for excuses. There shall be no more of those.
Looks like the Mets are making a late push for OF Jay Bruce. They’re becoming pretty desperate it seems, but they need a shakeup badly. The guys they have aren’t getting it done as currently constituted.

1. For the record challenge you have to also put the average points scored as a tie breaker. This is for the regular season only. It is points per game value from nfl.com stats page below. We were 19.4 last year.

2. The site will be blocked @ midnight after the 3rd (THIRD) preseason game . Its usually a Saturday night. So please finish up right after the 3rd game. Lots of cuts come after midnight so we need the rosters set before then.
3. If your name is not on the list please add it to the end.

It’s a done deal. Mets get OF Jay Bruce, trade OF Brandon Nimmo and 2 lower level prospects
For the record, not thrilled about losing Nimmo, but you need to give to get.
I thought it would be Nimmo – plays the same position and we value Conforto, Dilson Herrera and the 1B prospect Dominic Smith more.
Nothing like talking about the mets to put this board into dormant status.
Hey man, the Mets are in a playoff race NOW, the Dolphins are just at the beginning of training camp, not a lot to discuss. MLB Trade deadline is a big topic right now.
Except this isn’t a mets board, and they really aren’t in a playoff race😉
Bruce is a real game changer.

Amazing how teams sign players that have killed them in the past.
Mike/Tim,
Nimmo stays; Herrera and two lower prospects for Bruce. Meh. I think we’ll need Herrera in a year of two. I would have been ben much happier if we landed Lucroy either as well, or alone. IMO, Bruce is another guy that we already have too much of- power guys who hit HR’s and not for average.
Oh wow we traded Herrera. I thought he was to be the future 2B who adds speed to the lineup.
Bruce is having one of his best seasons now though – .265 25 HR and 80 RBI.
Lagares may be out most of the rest of the season so how do you see the OF lining up?
Yeah. I can root for Dilson again😉

Actually we aren’t so the jokes on him. He will be running a mix of ZBS and straight man blocking schemes. If he was capable of listening to people instead of only listening to himself he would have heard Gase say this months ago.
It’s like there is a filter built into their brains. LOL
Tunsil knocked the shit out him. Ill take it. I like the big uglies to be mean. More importantly he was man-handling McCain on that play for the fight broke out. Sam young on that play did not look good, Cleyon Liang had him stood up and pushed back.
Exactly. Tunsil owned him on that play
SON: Gotta agree with Mike E on the Tunsil fighting vs. Mets acquiring Bruce debate.–Hey at least we’re not debating hundreds of conspiracy theories/chem trail issues, right?–Seriously, I think an in season pennant race CAN be more interesting than the bigotted coconut’s opinion on summer camp or Tunsil’s tonsils. As a Marlins fan, I’m not in the slightest offended by Mike E, Brian in NY, or anyone else talking about a pennant/wildcard race. But that’s just MHO.

LOOKING FORWARD to potential showdown tonight between Stanton and Chapman in Wrigley Field.
TIm,
I have to think that Graderson plays more CF now, with Cespedes sliding over to LF. I would have rathered we traded Nimmo. We need future infielders more that future outfielders IMO.
*Granderson
It’s actually a break for us to have 5 straight AL games so Cespedes can DH and Bruce, Grandy and Conforto can play OF with De Aza as depth but they’re all left-handed batters. But so is Nimmo. I think he gets sent back down.
Most likely
Well th re hasn’t been one interception in four practices so I am a little concerned about our DBs
It’s going to hurt Conforto the most this trade. At best, he may play some CF, but with the way De’Aza has been hitting, and if/when Lagares is healthy, he’s a much better defensive CF. I really don’t like Granderson in CF, or Conforto really for that matter. It’s what we got though . . .
Having Reyes gives us the flexibility to trade Herrera, but I’m not thrilled to lose him.
Yeah, but how , long is Reyes going to be here? Aside from his first week, his offense has been shit. I think this trade will prove to be a big mistake. If you are trading future starters, then go all in and acquire Lucroy. I just don’t see how this move makes us that much better than we were yesterday. At least we got Niese back!
We got Niese back?
“If it doesn’t suck, we ain’t doing it.”
– Adam Gase
What is that supposed to mean?
I googled it, and it means if it isn’t hard why bother doing it. Make practice hard so games will seem fun, not as hard as practice. From Navy Seal training.
Oh sorry, wrong board. I thought this was the Dolphins blog. Must have gotten the URL address mixed up again. I don’t know why this piece of shit browser keeps bringing me to the suck ass Mets blog

It has been no secret for quite a while that I like to indulge in the sweet stuff. Okay okay it’s a little more than over indulgence I am a full-blown Kool-Aid addict. And when it comes to dishing up the aqua and orange Kool-Aid there is no one better than Andy Cohen from the Dolphins website.
“He’s a more freakish athlete than I ever was,” said Albert of Tunsil. “Don’t get me wrong, I was real good as a rookie. But this kid has a chance to be dominant. He can make the Pro Bowl this season. Who knows, he could make it 14 times before he’s through. He’s that good.”
I just love this stuff!
That’s why he was slated to be the top pick. I loved the LT the Ravens took, but his feet aren’t close to what Tunsil’s are.
Arian Foster ready to roll! Good news!
Yeah, because Ajayi doesn’t seem ready for prime time.
Fox radio this morning has the Fins as a surprise playoff team, because of what Gase has done with yhe 3 QBs he’s coached, and if Foster is anything like what he was in Houston, then making the playoffs shouldn’t be a surprise.
The Dolphins talk here is outrageous! Slow down guys, you’re killing me with all the Dolphins discussions here! It’s too much, the comments just keep coming, it’s too fast to keep up with!
Here, let me slow it down a bit. This just in the mets suck 😉
Ajayi will be fine. He carried the ball a ton in college, he can do it here too.
So far he looks like an electric football player, one from the game you had as a kid.
Those electric football games were such a disappointment. I did have a game that was actually really cool. It was kind of like strat-o-matic football, the offense had plays to choose from, and based on what defensive play was called, it extrapolated a gain, a loss, or a turnover. I really liked it, and showed the plays on like the x’s and o’s diagrams, and it was on a backlit screen, like an overhead projector, without the projector.
I had a similar game to what Mike E had. I think it was an Avalon Hill game. It was called Paydirt. It was put out each year and they made an offensive and defensive chart for each team. They stopped doing it with the advent of video games.
Anyone here think McCain will finally be a legit pass rushing specialist?
He can be but it is so hard to predict because he really doesn’t have much of a track record yet.
I think one of the most interesting stories this year will be Cam Wake, and whether he can be effective after his Achilles injury. Hopefully if the other guys are doing their job well on the d-line, the potential loss of explosiveness won’t slow him down much, although it’s the one thing that really made him an effective pass rusher in the first place, that burst of speed around the corner.
Ken
I was about 15 or 16, I have no idea what the name of it was, but I really liked it. Video games definitely put it to rest though, that much is true.
Sounds like it was similar if not the same game. I had a couple of different seasons worth of the game. I had the 1973 season. The 1978 season and the 1984 season and I played them to death.
I just looked at the picture of Paydirt Football, it definitely wasn’t that game. I doubt I’ll be able to find it, it may have been too obscure.
Ken
There were no real teams, it was just offense against defense, almost like having an offensive playbook and a defensive playbook, choosing plays from each, and then rolling dice to see what happens.
It sounds similar in the game mechanic but Paydirt did their game based on each team for each season. They would put together like 5 basic play concepts such as end run or deep pass, chart that mathematically and then it would contrast against an opposing team’s defense and again they would give you 5 basic defenses like spread, pass prevent and blitz… and it was specific to each team based on some mathematical probabilities and it would be resolved by a roll of the dice.
The closest thing I can find is Foto-Electric Football, but unless they had an updated version, circa 1980 or so, I don’t think that’s it, but it’s similar.
no practice today?

If you ever watch a video of them they giggle like little girls as they pretend to assess the team. LOL
I don’t see anything wrong with this article. I agree with what he’s saying. RT and Parker must step up and deliver when it counts.
I played a football game that looked like a stadium and you would call plays and based on what the other guy called the play would work or not and you would move the chains. It was almost like Battleship but football.
I think Perkins is accurate in that our skill personnel need to start making plays. That really seemed to be his overall point…at least that’s what I took away from that article. We need guys like Tannehill and Parker to start making big plays when it matters. Putting up numbers and still losing doesn’t mean much. Can they do it to win games? That’s still a big question mark for this offense.
But Tannehill and Parker had all of about 5 games together. To make it sound as if they had a history not working well together was absurd. Parker was hurt and once he got in the line up there was almost instant chemistry between he and Tannehill.
Ken,
I guess I didn’t get that from the article. The reality is they really haven’t done it, so wondering if they can is legitimate. I agree nobody can say they can’t right now, but you can say they haven’t…the reasons why are debatable. I read it as he’s skeptical until they really prove they can do it consistently. Maybe it’s just because I am, personally, in a wait and see mindset, so his skepticism works for me. Lol
I agree.
Sounds like the same old Tannehill theme to me. We all know he has to produce, but it seems like he’s got the tools to work with now to make that happen.

Bengals’ first-round pick, CB Will Jackson III, tore his pec muscle, as @MikeGarafolo reported. His season now in jeopardy.
M13 will be disappointed . . .
So…how about those Mets?
LOL
Ken you’re reading too much into the Perkins article. RT and Parker are the key, and no matter how long they’ve played together, it’s these 2 that matter most.

Tim,
My friend had that game. I think it was called Monday Night football, or something like that.
It was by Aurora. Google it, is that it?
That’s it! Thank you!
My sister’s friend was the only person who would play that football game with me. My friends all thought it was too complicated. lol

360 degree view of the stadium upgrades from the center of the field. Pretty neat. It is coming along!
looks kewl.. I am hoping the new Video boards are not blocking upperdeck views.. also hope we still get some sun for the Fest..
Toba …
Doggie !!!! Woofs up ?!
I just realized while messing around with that 360 view that it really is a 360. You can look up through the hole in the roof and if you “look down” you can see the tripod “below you” LOL
Toba, the score boards are up at the top / back of the sections. They will not interfere with the view at all.
I kind of figured they knew better than me.. but for what ever reason I cannot scroll 360.. looking forward to yer homeraid again sir..
Toba,
All is good.. Just been cruising around with a friend of mine who cant drive.
