Game Day – Cardinals @ Dolphins – Week 14

If the season ended today we’d be picking 23rd.
We were not a playoff team with this defense. I was hoping for 9-7 this year and I think we can get there with Moore. I just hope tanny will be ready for next year. We may want to draft a QB regardless.
The defense definitely has weaknesses, but it’s also opportunistic. I don’t know how much of an overhaul it needs (I read some people say that), I think we get Jones and Howard back and maybe draft a good LB and we’re definitely back on the right track.
I also, openly, wonder about scheme a little bit. That was a real stinker they put up against Baltimore..
We can draft one good LB so long as we also sign another one in FA. 🙂
Oh Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum
don’t fuck us over in the offseason
O Tannenbaum, Oh Tannenbaum
stay away from the draft room and take a vacation
Sing it!!
ESPN said that Matt Moore’s wife is having a baby today
Busy week for him…
Now that is a good football wife…..she did it on a non-practice day. 🙂

8-5 with the Jets coming up. Win that one and I call the season a success no matter what else happens. And as, playoffs are a real possibility.
This is how I feel as well.
Bookman Survivor pool pick for the week is Atlanta. (Sorry Toba they are playing your wife’s 49ers in Atlanta.)
So you had that big play left….cool. What happens if you and others make it through the season like the ’72 Phins?
jahn,
I think we need at least 2 new LBs and one DE assuming we resign alonso and possibly maxwell.
Maxwell is signed through 2020.
Stanger,
not only crossing sports but you’re comparing a GM to a HC. I don’t see the Epstein comparison.
Lou — Don’t hit me for what I already admitted. Said knew was “crossing sports and jobs.”
Keep in mind that Epstein was smart as heck, very young, and an analytics guy. This article is where I get the comparison from. Dude was game planning for a big college team as a frosh.

it is pathetic how far fin fans have sunk. now just having a winning record and call the season a success. i remember a time where playoffs were just expected
No doubt the team is not as good these days, but then the motto for my life is “it is what is” and then just try to move forward. We each have our way to be a fan of the team. Maybe mine is more looking at the “half full” and yours the “half empty.”
Just hope Moore doesn’t decide to take the remainder of the season off under The Family Leave Act.
Ah Piggy the Twitter Prince!

LMAO — funny and a serious point. Is there another guy in charge of injuring QBs like Big Ben?
Does anyone have their slide ruler available? Just looking at the standings and I think we are screwed regardless of how we win / lose the next three games.
As of right now, Denver holds the tie breakers for the 6th spot. If N.E. beats the Ravens tonight it becomes a three way tie between Denver, Miami & the Steelers. The Steelers win on the tie breaking procedures for three way ties even though we hold the head to head over them.
It gets even more convoluted as the rest of the season plays out.
we’re in the 6th spot right now.
No we’re 7th.
http://www.nfl.com/standings?category=conf&season=2016-REG&split=Overall
conference standing right now. we’re 6th
Either the Texans or Titans are South div winners though.
steelers don’t win the tiebreaker. if we end up with the same record head to head is the main tiebreaker.
only way Steelers make the playoffs with the same record as us is if they win the division.
Totally agree with Lou that you can’t call that pass Moore threw a wounded duck. He lofted it against one on one coverage. Was it a thing of beauty? No but it was a great play
The reason I compare Gase to a young Don Shula is because he DOES expect a lot from his players and he gets his team to play every week despite the lack of talent he’s got on his roster. This team finds ways to win just like Shula’s teams did; regardless of talent. There were plenty of mediocre Phins teams when Shula was the coach but he got them to play at a higher level.
I am sorry but I am one of those guys morning Tannehill’s loss. We have 3 divisional games left with 2 of them on the road in cold weather sites. We need to win at least 2 if not all 3 and I don’t see us doing that with Moore
With this defense, I didn’t see us doing that with tanny either.
We beat the Jets and Bills earlier in the year with a strong ground game and sound defense. If Gase pulls out the extra blockers again in the next 3 games there’s a possibility we win all three.
No way Gase is going to try and win these games with Moore throwing the ball.
tim,
thanks. I didn’t know maxwell was signed through 2020. I thought he was gonna be FA this year.
We traded for him with a 6 year contract from the Eagles.
Lou, I’ve seen this reported everywhere.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/standings/playoffrace
I haven’t seen that one but even yesterday after we won and DEN lost I saw them showing the AFC race with us taking the 6th spot.
Everything I saw had us as the top team in the hunt but just out.
In any case, with DEN having the schedule they’ve got I still would feel good about our chances even w/o Tannehill. I think DEN has it tougher than we do.
And, we hold the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh. Only reason they’re in it now is because they are leading their dvision. But, if the Ravens took over the division we take the tiebreaker over Pitt
Yes we need the Ravens to win the division if we’re even.
Seems everyone is more tolerant these days, and that’s OK. We’ve been in spots very similar to this one in years past, and then screwed the pooch against the Jets, or whoever we were playing. I’m happy we have a shot at the playoffs, but these next 3 games are very important. Shit the bed in any of them, and to me at least, that wonderful feeling goes away quick. We have to FINISH! Beat the Jets, and then move on from there.
I can handle if we don’t finish well because I don’t think we’re good enough to overcome all these injuries. I like the fight in this team and I do think Gase is the real deal moving forward, but we do have quite a few voids. But let’s see how it goes. Tannehill going down could really rally the team to play above and beyond.

IF it were a two way tie yes we would hold the edge, but three way ties are broken differently.
I think you need to go back and read it again. The head to head would still take precedence.
I think CBS is wrong Tim. This is from NFL.com
http://www.nfl.com/standings?category=conf&season=2016-REG&split=Overall
Actually, never mind, it has the Broncos as the WC even though we’re listed ahead of them
We are currently the 7th seed on the outside looking in. That may change if the Ravens win and the Steelers then drop into a 3 way tie and I am not sure how the tie breakers work out in that scenario
we still beat out the Steelers if the Ravens are ahead of them in the division. If the Ravens and Steelers are tied and the Ravens win the division due to head to head or other tie breaking procedures then you apply the head to head first when it comes to us and Pittsburgh. Since we beat them we hold the tie breaker
Denver is ahead of Miami based on strength of victory (.417 to the Dolphins’ .322).
Who cares……….it will all be different after next weekend. Key thing is beat the Jets and hope the Broncos lose. And maybe a bunch of other stuff, but those are less important. Even if will note again we want the Pats to beat the Ravens tonight.
I think with Tannehill we had a chance to win 2 of the next 3 but not with Moore. In particular he has a weaker arm and his ball will flutter on him in those cold weather sites like Buffalo and New Jersey
Unfairly, what sticks in my mind most with Moore is that game against BUF where Tanny was benched, and Moore came in the 2nd half, threw one really nice pass, and then immediately threw a terrible INT. We lost 19-0 that game. Horrible, horrible loss that game.
dude, you’re going back to 2013 when we had a completely different coaching staff and offense. Gase is not going to put the offense on the shoulders of a backup qb starting the last 3 games of the season.
Trust in Gase. yes. Trust in Ajayi. Definitely.
Trust in Gase. And if he can’t beat the Jets when their FO is figuring out where they will draft…..why worry?
I am looking for the article I read this morning that showed how we still wont move into #6 if the Ravens lose tonight (or win for that matter) It was very detailed with the tie breaking procedures.
Because the Ravens would be 8-5 like us and they beat us. We need them to take over the division knocking the Steelers out.
But why would we want them to win rather than stay a game behind us? Might be different if they were playing the Steelers instead of us.
Oh wait, if the Ravens lose tonight they fall behind us but we don’t move up.
no I think for us to move to 6 the ravens have to beat the pats.
Perhaps just for this week. Unless you think we can still take the division…..you want the Ravens to lose.
Ravens are 7-5. If they win we move back further. if the lose we are a game ahead of them so it wouldn’t matter. We wouldn’t move up.
They need to win the division so we would go head to head with Pittsburgh instead.
I don’t think what Moore did good or bad in the past means anything. This is not the same team.
If the Ravens win tonight do they jump PIT? If so then we would be ahead of PIT right?
yes, they would be back in first and then we hold the tiebreaker over Pitt. However, that still leaves us behind DEN.
Right, PIT would be on the outside looking in as well.
Isn’t it cool on December 12th that we’re talking playoff scenarios? 🙂
TO BREAK A TIE FOR THE WILD-CARD TEAM OR AMONG DIVISION WINNERS:
If it is necessary to break ties to determine the two Wild-Card clubs from each conference, the following steps will be taken.
If the tied clubs are from the same division, apply division tie breaker.
If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.
Three or More Clubs:
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after one or more clubs are eliminated during any step, tie-breaker re-starts at Step One of two-club format. If three clubs remain tied after a fourth club is eliminated during any step, tie-breaker re-starts at Step One of three-club format.)
Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
Strength of victory.
Strength of schedule.
Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
Best net points in conference games.
Best net points in all games.
Best net touchdowns in all games.

You have toco sided that Moore will be taking all the snaps in practice this week
And that’s an advantage for him
I expect the next 2 games to be on the low scoring side
We need to run well in the cold weather anyway
Let’s go Dolphins
Usually I don’t root for snow
But it will probably helpline run game
Let’s hope Merlin the new Director of weather brings lots of snow to the next 2 games
It’s going to be really cold this weekend in NJ, and most likely in Buffalo in two weeks as well.
It’s going to be cold Thursday and Friday then in the 40s again this weekend, but there will be some rain.

I don’t think so Lou, because in a three way tie there can be TWO head to head wins that nullify each other.
If there is a three way tie, as in the case of the Ravens, Miami and Pittsburgh you apply the division tie breaker first. In this case, it would be between the Ravens and Pittsburgh for the division title. Then, you have two teams remaining. MIA and PIT. You apply the head to head between those two and MIA wins the tiebreaker with the head to head.
Only way PIT makes it to the playoffs with the same record as us is if they win their division.
With that same three way tie and PIT winning their division we then go head to head vs the Ravens and they hold the tiebreaker.
I think the only time head to head comes in to play in a 3 way tie is if one team beat the other two.

Prof Lou,
We lose out in any three way tie breaking scenario with DEN and PITT because their conference records would be better (we all have 3 games remaining against AFC opponents , so nothing would change). Head to head doesn’t mean anything unless it’s a two-way tie.
This ^^^
we lose out to DEN as of now because of the conference record. However, in a tie with PIT we hold the tiebreaker due to head to head.
*see THREE WAY TIE SCENARIO.
sorry, we don’t lose out to DEN now because of conference record. It goes deeper than that. But, if it were between just us and PIT for the 6th seed and we are tied with them we get the tiebreaker. It’s HEAD TO HEAD first.
Yes, no one is suggesting otherwise.

This is correct. Head to head is thrown out in a three way tie UNLESS the three teams have all played each other. (we don’t play Denver so it is thrown out)
That is what I thought…gotcha.
The other thing with a 3 way tie…and it does not apply in this case, is if 2 teams are from the same division, I think one is eliminated against the other…could be wrong…and again it really doesn’t matter in this scenario.
If the season ended today and MIA, PIT and DEN all had 8-5 records DEN gets the tiebreaker.
If MIA, BAL and PIT all had 8-5 records and the season ended today the Ravens win the division (the division tiebreaker) and then MIA gets the tiebreaker vs PIT due to head to head.
yes, the head to head wouldn’t matter if the teams hadn’t played one another but it’s the first tiebreaker AFTER the division tiebreaker and we DID play PIT and beat them.

right. if DEN were eliminated over the remaining three games and it was a three way tie between PIT, BAL and MIA you apply the division tiebreaker between PIT and BAL first to see who wins the division. Then, you have the remaining 2. IF PIT wins the division then you go head to head between BAL and MIA and since the Ravens beat us they get the tiebreaker. It wouldn’t matter if we had a better conference record at that point.
However, if the Ravens won the division we beat PIT head to head and win the tiebreaker. The fact that PIT is 6-3 in the conference right now doesn’t matter because we DID play them and beat them.

yes, the head to head wouldn’t matter if the teams hadn’t played one another but it’s the first tiebreaker AFTER the division tiebreaker and we DID play PIT and beat them.
*
Lou,
You can’t just switch the scenarios to suit your argument. It doesn’t matter who we are tied with in a three way tie, we lose in any of those scenarios. There obviously has to be a division champion in the North- that would make it a two way tie if BAL and PITT and us have the same records.
If there is a three way tie between MIA, BAL and PiT and BAL wins the division the tiebreaker then goes to MIA and PIT and since we won the head to head we get the tiebreaker.
Or let me explain it this way. DEN loses their next 3. We tie with PIT and BUF and we split with BUF during the season. first thing is division tiebreaker between us and BUF. Head to head. we split so you go to the next one. Conference record. If we have better conference record than BUF we get the tiebreaker and BUF is eliminated. Then we go head to head with PIT because we are the only two teams remaining. Since we beat them head to head we get the tiebreaker and are the 6th seed. What’s so difficult to understand?
Okay, I gotta get some shit done today and keep taking advantage of this snow day. Have a great day all!
One last thought: Wouldn’t it be great if Hull comes out of nowhere to take advantage of this opportunity and becomes our starting MLB next season, we slide Alonso outside and we only need one OLB this offseason?
Yeah I said that yesterday. That would be great!

I’m so damn happy! What’s the point of jumping the gun with a diagnosis until the guy actually has the MRI? It just drives me crazy how the news has to get out before anyone else puts it out, whether it’s right or not. How many times have we seen this in other facets of news? It’s just sensationalism and trying to be first, and responsibility to get the correct info out goes completely by the wayside.
I get that. Your comment just struck me as hilarious! I could just see you pointing your finger at everyone when you were saying it…LOL
Oh shit, do you have access to my webcam? lol
Most of us were going by the sidelines and the way he and the players were acting. Gase also feared the worst. It wasn’t any news reports for me. After the game I was happy we won but very bummed he was seriously hurt so I didn’t see any of it.
thing is, can a guy walk like he did yesterday with a tear? is that possible?
Yes I’ve seen it many times. Guys have played with tears. See RGIII.
there it is again. what the hell is going on? it’s like Groundhog Day
Cold it will be.
First thing I saw this morning was Al showing the Polar Vortex in place over the northern states and a snow storm moving across the country…
Looks to be getting close to the east coast by Saturday. I’m sure you guys up there have a better bead on this than we do at this point
The weekend will be in the 40s with some rain in NJ.
Yesssss!
Post season is still up in the air for this team but hearing that makes us feel he will be good and ready to go come next season
Thanks T/K
Al is fired and you report to Rockafeller Center at 4:30 tomorrow morning
LOL, it’s a night game so it will be colder. But it’s not suppose to be anything insane.
Tim
Not that any one experience would make it what happened the same, but I swear, I remember twisting both knees so badly, and it made a terrible sound, and I thought I ruined both knees. I was sliding, and my sneakers got stuck, so instead of sliding, my feet stuck, and my knees twisted. I couldn’t walk, I sprained both MCL’s, and I was going away on vacation in the summer and we play sports all week, so I was so bummed. Within 3 weeks, I was fine. I couldn’t believe it, because at first, it was brutal. So I think of how young Tanny is, and how old I was, and I said let’s wait for some testing. I mean the guy was walking around (In pain), but he was walking. Usually with a tear, you’re on crutches ASAP, and you aren’t getting up and walking off the field.
I have seen guys walk and then you find out they need surgery because they have a tear. RGIII played on a tear and then had surgery. Remember that fiasco with Shanahan?
Mike — I did think of you on one of the shots of Tanny yesterday on the local coverage. He was walking away into the locker room (assume to a no go zone for the reporters) but he was carrying his crutches. Thought was — “well it couldn’t be that bad.”
Back to Jar-Heads interview
All he told Tanny was not to worry weve got this one for you
Even if it take 8 quarters.
Might not have been total despair after all
Tim
RGIII may have torn it worse, but he didn’t have full tear when he was walking around. He probably exacerbated it by continuing to play.
Can we get back to being happy about a win? Woohooo!!!!
Yes, this was great news to pile on to the fact that we won!
I didn’t get to see the game until later so when I checked the score around 5 p.m. and saw we won I was thrilled. Then I saw the news about Tannehill. I felt bad for the kid, especially after seeing everyone on the sidelines, but I still didn’t feel like everything was lost because of Gase and his staff. This team has been finding ways to win all season long and that task hasn’t been placed squarely on the back of one individual.
We’ve played through injuries on the o-line, lb and without Jones for a good portion of the season and we are still winning games. yes, the starting qb is down but I still felt like the TEAM is able to overcome this like they did everything else during the course of the season and still get us some wins in these next 3 games.
Everyone will need to step up their game, especially the o-line and Ajayi because I’ve got a feeling we’re going to see a lot of running. But, if that’s the case, then so be it. We did it earlier in the season vs the Jets and Bills and we’ll just have to do it two more times.
Yes!!!
Ah, who cares, it’s not a torn ACL, and he’s not done for the season. THAT is all that counts! I’m so happy for him, and the team, and for US!
And even if he can’t play again this year he doesn’t have a 9-12 month rehab ahead of him and he’ll be good to go in 2017. 🙂
I swear that kid is Gumby! He takes hit after hit and just bounces back. Woooooooo Hooooooo Good news.
Mike, I can imagine what that felt like to jam your knees like that. I did something similar but much less torque. I was in my office and a co-worker was shooting rolled up paper into a waste paper basket. One of the times he missed and it rolled to me and I went to kick it like I was scoring a goal and my sneakers have a knobby tread and got stuck on the carpet and my leg just stopped. I was like seriously did I just blow my knee? It fucking hurt but after a few minutes I realized it wasn’t that bad but it was sore for like 3-4 days.
I went to the hospital, I couldn’t walk. I called some of the orthopedists in my are, they couldn’t see me for a month. lol I was OK after about 3 weeks. 🙂
Most of all I was bummed because of my summer vacation. It would have been pretty much ruined for me.
Yeah you hurt both so not being able to walk makes sense.
Guess Floyd wasn’t too happy about the loss to the Phins.

PHOENIX — Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd was arrested early Monday morning on DUI charges. The Scottsdale Police Department said Floyd was found unconscious at the wheel of his car near Scottsdale Road and Goldwater Boulevard at 2:48 a.m. Monday morning. The car was running.
I don’t even remember seeing him on the field
He’s in the box score for two small catches. What I can’t figure out is how he took the plane home and still ended up like that. Oh wait — that is like five in the morning EST time……..he had time.

Me on the way to Metlife Stadium on Saturday
———–
I’m thinking about going to the game! It’s so easy for me to get there.
********************
From NYC
yes its very easy
I am actually not going this year
but I am going to the pregame at Slatterys on Saturday which starts at 12pm
from NYC you can take the NJ Transit
I think the train connects to a bus at a certain station
its super easy
It is time consuming though just bc that is the way NYC is
The stadium is accessible from NYC via public transportation
For me I just take the trains.
A sprain could be one of three degrees with the 3rd being a full tear. It’s unclear if Tannehill has a level I or level II sprain. Level I has microscopic tears but the return is much faster. Level II is a partial tear that does not require surgery.

Where do you live, in NYC, or Jersey?
CT, right on the border of NY.
Gotcha
Mike could lend you his Haitian canoe as an alternative.
Not sure if everyone heard the news and are dancing right now
But
I already did the dance. LOL

Will anyone be surprised if Tannehill plays the last game at home against the Pats? I won’t. But only if the playoffs are on the line.
I really that’s the only game I would consider playing him in
Would be the incredible if he can do it
But Proceed with caution please Dolphins
Yeah I wouldn’t play him in the cold in NJ or BUF and he’ll need some time for the swelling and pain to die down. But if there is no damage it wouldn’t surprise me if can play that last game.
Oh forget it
I see I’m the last one to read about it
Man of steel?
No shit

Lol!
We are winning this game for Tanny!
I say he is ready to go in Buffalo
HELL YEAH!
That wouldn’t really surprise me either. We’ll know more at the end of this week.

—————–
Absolutely you can. The leg will buckle frequently and you won’t be able to plant or cut off that leg but you can walk with a limp
Yep!
If you come from CT Vinnie
I suspect you have to come in NYC via Grand Central
then walk to Penn Station to catch the train to Met Life
if you go to Penn Station you will see a ton of fans going the same way
That news was worth not going to work this morning.
I’ll catch up on that tomorrow 🙂
Herd will be by shortly to revoke some our medical licenses😬
I’m right there with her!
I already burned mine. LOL
Trotters up for toughness!
I’m so happy with the news about Ryan. I’m enjoying the win so much more now. 🙂
Absolutely, me too!
I love Gase’s eyes during these pressers. He looks he might just have an axe behind the podium, and he’s going to start hacking off peoples heads off. lol
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/nfl/miami-dolphins/article120411938.html
He keeps his cool but you can see he has no tolerance for stupid questions. LOL
Cocaine will do that to you
Hey, these HC’s really have to burn the candle at both ends, so . . .
I think he looks like there’s a woman under the podium grabbing by his weenie when he’s trying to talk.
I hate when that happens. Well no I don’t
Maybe Dion Jordan will finally play too….lol
We have to make a decision on him this week right? I thought I read that somewhere.
Can he throw?
Yes
As evidenced by the way he threw away his career
Oh and no losing season this year. 🙂
