  1. If the season ended today we’d be picking 23rd.

We were not a playoff team with this defense. I was hoping for 9-7 this year and I think we can get there with Moore. I just hope tanny will be ready for next year. We may want to draft a QB regardless.

    • Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

The defense definitely has weaknesses, but it’s also opportunistic. I don’t know how much of an overhaul it needs (I read some people say that), I think we get Jones and Howard back and maybe draft a good LB and we’re definitely back on the right track.

I also, openly, wonder about scheme a little bit. That was a real stinker they put up against Baltimore..

8-5 with the Jets coming up. Win that one and I call the season a success no matter what else happens. And as, playoffs are a real possibility.

This is how I feel as well.

it is pathetic how far fin fans have sunk. now just having a winning record and call the season a success. i remember a time where playoffs were just expected

No doubt the team is not as good these days, but then the motto for my life is “it is what is” and then just try to move forward. We each have our way to be a fan of the team. Maybe mine is more looking at the “half full” and yours the “half empty.”

  10. Just hope Moore doesn’t decide to take the remainder of the season off under The Family Leave Act.

  11. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Does anyone have their slide ruler available? Just looking at the standings and I think we are screwed regardless of how we win / lose the next three games.

As of right now, Denver holds the tie breakers for the 6th spot. If N.E. beats the Ravens tonight it becomes a three way tie between Denver, Miami & the Steelers. The Steelers win on the tie breaking procedures for three way ties even though we hold the head to head over them.

It gets even more convoluted as the rest of the season plays out.

  12. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Totally agree with Lou that you can’t call that pass Moore threw a wounded duck. He lofted it against one on one coverage. Was it a thing of beauty? No but it was a great play

  13. The reason I compare Gase to a young Don Shula is because he DOES expect a lot from his players and he gets his team to play every week despite the lack of talent he’s got on his roster. This team finds ways to win just like Shula’s teams did; regardless of talent. There were plenty of mediocre Phins teams when Shula was the coach but he got them to play at a higher level.

  14. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am sorry but I am one of those guys morning Tannehill’s loss. We have 3 divisional games left with 2 of them on the road in cold weather sites. We need to win at least 2 if not all 3 and I don’t see us doing that with Moore

Seems everyone is more tolerant these days, and that’s OK. We’ve been in spots very similar to this one in years past, and then screwed the pooch against the Jets, or whoever we were playing. I’m happy we have a shot at the playoffs, but these next 3 games are very important. Shit the bed in any of them, and to me at least, that wonderful feeling goes away quick. We have to FINISH! Beat the Jets, and then move on from there.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I can handle if we don’t finish well because I don’t think we’re good enough to overcome all these injuries. I like the fight in this team and I do think Gase is the real deal moving forward, but we do have quite a few voids. But let’s see how it goes. Tannehill going down could really rally the team to play above and beyond.

steelers don’t win the tiebreaker. if we end up with the same record head to head is the main tiebreaker.
    Reply

IF it were a two way tie yes we would hold the edge, but three way ties are broken differently.

  19. Ken's avatar Ken says:

We are currently the 7th seed on the outside looking in. That may change if the Ravens win and the Steelers then drop into a 3 way tie and I am not sure how the tie breakers work out in that scenario

    • we still beat out the Steelers if the Ravens are ahead of them in the division. If the Ravens and Steelers are tied and the Ravens win the division due to head to head or other tie breaking procedures then you apply the head to head first when it comes to us and Pittsburgh. Since we beat them we hold the tie breaker

  20. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Denver is ahead of Miami based on strength of victory (.417 to the Dolphins’ .322).

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Who cares……….it will all be different after next weekend. Key thing is beat the Jets and hope the Broncos lose. And maybe a bunch of other stuff, but those are less important. Even if will note again we want the Pats to beat the Ravens tonight.

  21. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I think with Tannehill we had a chance to win 2 of the next 3 but not with Moore. In particular he has a weaker arm and his ball will flutter on him in those cold weather sites like Buffalo and New Jersey

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Unfairly, what sticks in my mind most with Moore is that game against BUF where Tanny was benched, and Moore came in the 2nd half, threw one really nice pass, and then immediately threw a terrible INT. We lost 19-0 that game. Horrible, horrible loss that game.

      • dude, you’re going back to 2013 when we had a completely different coaching staff and offense. Gase is not going to put the offense on the shoulders of a backup qb starting the last 3 games of the season.
Trust in Gase. yes. Trust in Ajayi. Definitely.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Trust in Gase. And if he can’t beat the Jets when their FO is figuring out where they will draft…..why worry?

  22. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I think you need to go back and read it again. The head to head would still take precedence.
    Reply
I don’t think so Lou, because in a three way tie there can be TWO head to head wins that nullify each other.

    • If there is a three way tie, as in the case of the Ravens, Miami and Pittsburgh you apply the division tie breaker first. In this case, it would be between the Ravens and Pittsburgh for the division title. Then, you have two teams remaining. MIA and PIT. You apply the head to head between those two and MIA wins the tiebreaker with the head to head.
Only way PIT makes it to the playoffs with the same record as us is if they win their division.
With that same three way tie and PIT winning their division we then go head to head vs the Ravens and they hold the tiebreaker.

    • right. if DEN were eliminated over the remaining three games and it was a three way tie between PIT, BAL and MIA you apply the division tiebreaker between PIT and BAL first to see who wins the division. Then, you have the remaining 2. IF PIT wins the division then you go head to head between BAL and MIA and since the Ravens beat us they get the tiebreaker. It wouldn’t matter if we had a better conference record at that point.
However, if the Ravens won the division we beat PIT head to head and win the tiebreaker. The fact that PIT is 6-3 in the conference right now doesn’t matter because we DID play them and beat them.

    Lou,
You can’t just switch the scenarios to suit your argument. It doesn’t matter who we are tied with in a three way tie, we lose in any of those scenarios. There obviously has to be a division champion in the North- that would make it a two way tie if BAL and PITT and us have the same records.

    • If there is a three way tie between MIA, BAL and PiT and BAL wins the division the tiebreaker then goes to MIA and PIT and since we won the head to head we get the tiebreaker.

    • Or let me explain it this way. DEN loses their next 3. We tie with PIT and BUF and we split with BUF during the season. first thing is division tiebreaker between us and BUF. Head to head. we split so you go to the next one. Conference record. If we have better conference record than BUF we get the tiebreaker and BUF is eliminated. Then we go head to head with PIT because we are the only two teams remaining. Since we beat them head to head we get the tiebreaker and are the 6th seed. What’s so difficult to understand?

Ha you fuckers!!!!!! How many times did I say wait for the official word!!!! GO TANNY!!!

    WOW…easy there Mike…LMAO!!

  62. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Hmmmm. That is great news about Tannehill. I’d say I told you so but I’m not that kind of person. 😇

  63. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The news on Tannehill made my day. I can enjoy the win so much more now. He could be back for the postseason. 🙂

  64. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Just think how this news will effect the team. Big difference mentally knowing your starter is done for the year vs being out some games.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That and how happy they are for him that he doesn’t have a long rehab ahead of him. More like 3-6 weeks. Knowing him he’ll be back in two. LOL

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Sorta explains why he decided to take the millions to be a high-level back-up instead of looking for a starter job after Tanny was drafted. Not such a bad career choice either.

I’m so damn happy! What’s the point of jumping the gun with a diagnosis until the guy actually has the MRI? It just drives me crazy how the news has to get out before anyone else puts it out, whether it’s right or not. How many times have we seen this in other facets of news? It’s just sensationalism and trying to be first, and responsibility to get the correct info out goes completely by the wayside.

    Cold it will be.
First thing I saw this morning was Al showing the Polar Vortex in place over the northern states and a snow storm moving across the country…
Looks to be getting close to the east coast by Saturday. I’m sure you guys up there have a better bead on this than we do at this point

  68. 81Howie's avatar 81Howie says:

    Yesssss!
Post season is still up in the air for this team but hearing that makes us feel he will be good and ready to go come next season

    Thanks T/K
Al is fired and you report to Rockafeller Center at 4:30 tomorrow morning

Not that any one experience would make it what happened the same, but I swear, I remember twisting both knees so badly, and it made a terrible sound, and I thought I ruined both knees. I was sliding, and my sneakers got stuck, so instead of sliding, my feet stuck, and my knees twisted. I couldn’t walk, I sprained both MCL’s, and I was going away on vacation in the summer and we play sports all week, so I was so bummed. Within 3 weeks, I was fine. I couldn’t believe it, because at first, it was brutal. So I think of how young Tanny is, and how old I was, and I said let’s wait for some testing. I mean the guy was walking around (In pain), but he was walking. Usually with a tear, you’re on crutches ASAP, and you aren’t getting up and walking off the field.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I have seen guys walk and then you find out they need surgery because they have a tear. RGIII played on a tear and then had surgery. Remember that fiasco with Shanahan?

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Mike — I did think of you on one of the shots of Tanny yesterday on the local coverage. He was walking away into the locker room (assume to a no go zone for the reporters) but he was carrying his crutches. Thought was — “well it couldn’t be that bad.”

  71. 81Howie's avatar 81Howie says:

    Back to Jar-Heads interview
All he told Tanny was not to worry weve got this one for you
Even if it take 8 quarters.
Might not have been total despair after all

  72. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Tim

RGIII may have torn it worse, but he didn’t have full tear when he was walking around. He probably exacerbated it by continuing to play.

  73. herdfan's avatar herdfan says:

Can we get back to being happy about a win? Woohooo!!!!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Yes, this was great news to pile on to the fact that we won!

    • I didn’t get to see the game until later so when I checked the score around 5 p.m. and saw we won I was thrilled. Then I saw the news about Tannehill. I felt bad for the kid, especially after seeing everyone on the sidelines, but I still didn’t feel like everything was lost because of Gase and his staff. This team has been finding ways to win all season long and that task hasn’t been placed squarely on the back of one individual.
We’ve played through injuries on the o-line, lb and without Jones for a good portion of the season and we are still winning games. yes, the starting qb is down but I still felt like the TEAM is able to overcome this like they did everything else during the course of the season and still get us some wins in these next 3 games.
Everyone will need to step up their game, especially the o-line and Ajayi because I’ve got a feeling we’re going to see a lot of running. But, if that’s the case, then so be it. We did it earlier in the season vs the Jets and Bills and we’ll just have to do it two more times.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

      Yes!!!

  74. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ah, who cares, it’s not a torn ACL, and he’s not done for the season. THAT is all that counts! I’m so happy for him, and the team, and for US!

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

And even if he can’t play again this year he doesn’t have a 9-12 month rehab ahead of him and he’ll be good to go in 2017. 🙂

  75. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I swear that kid is Gumby! He takes hit after hit and just bounces back. Woooooooo Hooooooo Good news.

  76. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Mike, I can imagine what that felt like to jam your knees like that. I did something similar but much less torque. I was in my office and a co-worker was shooting rolled up paper into a waste paper basket. One of the times he missed and it rolled to me and I went to kick it like I was scoring a goal and my sneakers have a knobby tread and got stuck on the carpet and my leg just stopped. I was like seriously did I just blow my knee? It fucking hurt but after a few minutes I realized it wasn’t that bad but it was sore for like 3-4 days.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I went to the hospital, I couldn’t walk. I called some of the orthopedists in my are, they couldn’t see me for a month. lol I was OK after about 3 weeks. 🙂

Most of all I was bummed because of my summer vacation. It would have been pretty much ruined for me.

  77. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Guess Floyd wasn’t too happy about the loss to the Phins.
    —————————-
PHOENIX — Arizona Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd was arrested early Monday morning on DUI charges. The Scottsdale Police Department said Floyd was found unconscious at the wheel of his car near Scottsdale Road and Goldwater Boulevard at 2:48 a.m. Monday morning. The car was running.

I don’t even remember seeing him on the field

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

He’s in the box score for two small catches. What I can’t figure out is how he took the plane home and still ended up like that. Oh wait — that is like five in the morning EST time……..he had time.

Me on the way to Metlife Stadium on Saturday
    ———–
I’m thinking about going to the game! It’s so easy for me to get there.

    ********************

    From NYC
    yes its very easy

I am actually not going this year
but I am going to the pregame at Slatterys on Saturday which starts at 12pm

from NYC you can take the NJ Transit
I think the train connects to a bus at a certain station
    its super easy
It is time consuming though just bc that is the way NYC is

The stadium is accessible from NYC via public transportation

  80. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

A sprain could be one of three degrees with the 3rd being a full tear. It’s unclear if Tannehill has a level I or level II sprain. Level I has microscopic tears but the return is much faster. Level II is a partial tear that does not require surgery.

Will anyone be surprised if Tannehill plays the last game at home against the Pats? I won’t. But only if the playoffs are on the line.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I really that’s the only game I would consider playing him in

Would be the incredible if he can do it

But Proceed with caution please Dolphins

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah I wouldn’t play him in the cold in NJ or BUF and he’ll need some time for the swelling and pain to die down. But if there is no damage it wouldn’t surprise me if can play that last game.

thing is, can a guy walk like he did yesterday with a tear? is that possible?
    —————–
Absolutely you can. The leg will buckle frequently and you won’t be able to plant or cut off that leg but you can walk with a limp

  90. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If you come from CT Vinnie
I suspect you have to come in NYC via Grand Central
then walk to Penn Station to catch the train to Met Life
if you go to Penn Station you will see a ton of fans going the same way
