Sorry Toba on your survivor loss…I know your pain

    Stinky in, in Dallas😉

  3. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I figured we’d lose this game, but I thought it would be closer. Not exactly the way you want to go into a playoff game, but I think we can regroup and come out with a better effort next week. All hands on deck next week, no holding back, and I think we’ll see that. Playing with house money as far as I’m concerned, so go in loose, and come out with the win!

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

It was close, we score on the fumble drive and we’re down 6. I don’t understand why you’d catch a short pass and peel back, all our receivers do it, but it’s retarded.

  4. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Ah shoot Toba, sorry you didn’t make it man. Who was it, the Bills?

My pick was the Bills. And someone picked Indy so i am officially out now. Ah well was a good run.

    Bring on the Steelers !!!!

  7. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

This seems like a one and done playoff team. I just don’t see us beating the steelers on the road. specially without Tannehill.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I am not saying we will but we can beat the Steelers

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I would play tannehill if he’s anywhere close. But this defense is not that good. They just allowed 600 yards to the pats.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I think it was 400 yards but the D has problems but so does the Steelers D.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

which is why it doesn’t matter … it’s a good start and way more than could’ve been expected in a coaching transition year.

Let’s go get some playoff experience for the coaches as well as the players.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

yea that’s what I said when sparano got in his first year.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Naples, I agree, and that is why, if Tannehill is healthy, I want him to play…..gain experience in a playoff setting, especially on the road in a tough place to play in adverse weather conditions

  8. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I think Pitt is a good game for us. We beat them when it counted at our place. If they win at their place, so what.
I say that in light of us having our QB and Center out with injuries as well as 3 out of our 4 DBs.

  9. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Sparano got in with a bunch of gadget plays, a lot of luck in the schedule, and a cast of aging and even old vets. The QB had been cut by his own team, and his arm often hung limp at his side as it was obviously the end of his career. There was no newly energized game plan and no core of young and hungry skills players like we have now. I bless Sparano for doing that for my pleasure, but it did not seem like it was sustainable and it wasn’t

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I agree with this. Pennington was awesome (winking at Herd), but the rest of the team was operating on smoke and mirrors..imo

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

The fact they beat Favre and the Jets, in NY on the last game to get into the playoffs, will always endear me to Pennington.

  10. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Playing a solid and steady team like Pitt is with vet players and coaches will be a good experience for us to learn from and gauge our progress. We can study what they do since they know what it is like to be in the playoffs and what it takes to win.

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Exactly. ANY playoff experience is good playoff experience. Can you imagine the affect on this team if they beat a consistent team like Pitt, in the playoffs, on the road? Nothing to lose.

  11. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I agree with you Naples. Can’t beat playoff experience. Win, or lose, you still get the experience. Its a WIN-WIN for us. If we lose, we’ll be hungry to get back and do better next season after tasting the experience and the defeat.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

plus we’ll have game tape and we’ll know about travel and how playoff games are different in the sense of TV timeouts, media circus, etc. etc. It’s like a college team going to a bowl game after a long drought.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

My point was that have to live in the moment and give it everything you have. There is no guarantee this team will see the playoffs again for a while.

  12. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

THE ENTIRE GAME swung on Williams’ fumble near the Pats’ 5 yard line. Had Miami scored a TD on that drive, they’d have been within 6 points. –And they had MOMENTUM!! –Sad to say our guys could not recover from losing the turnover battle 2-0. And we had 10 penalties. And we had NO SACKS. The CHEATS are legendary for offensive holding. Except for 1 holding call, they got away with it on DOZENS OF PLAYS. Meanwhile, Miami did NOT rush for 100 yards (Ajayi was 16 for 59 yards–not enough). NO TD’s from our defense or our special teams – – something we’ve come to expect around these parts since Gase took over. But our boys hung in their and, for a few precious moments in the third quarter, they were within reach of taking the lead. Saw SUH and a couple other Miami defenders get truly pissed-off near the game’s end. This COULD PAY DIVIDENDS DOWN THE ROAD!! (“There”, not “their”).
    —————————————-

LOOKING DOWN THE PLAYOFF ROAD: I’m guessing the Dolphins will be 4-7 point underdogs against Pittsburgh. But they sure as hell DO HAVE A CHANCE to beat the Steelers. IF THEY DO WIN, they’ll most likely end up in FOXBORO for the 3rd game of the year between these teams.
THAT’s EXACTLY WHAT SUH AND HIS BUDDIES WANT—A CHANCE AT REVENGE AND REDEMPTION!!! – – WILL THIS 3rd meeting mark the return of Ryan Tannehill?? – – I’m guessing NOT, but, right now, that’s hard to gauge. What’s NOT hard to gauge is the fact that our Dolphins want to beat New England more than any team in the NFL RIGHT NOW!! TO MIAMI, beating the Pats in Foxboro (where they’ve already lost 2 games this year) would be almost as good (better?) as WINNING THE SUPER BOWL!
    —————————————–
IN THAT SCENARIO, is there any chance some in New England could be over confident?? –Let’s hope our boys have the chance to provide the answer!!! –BEAT PITTSBURGH!!!

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

      several good points in here.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

That’s what I’m talking about that one stupid play. Who is teaching our receivers to catch the ball and Leeper back a couple of yards? The other big play was that long TD pass that Floyd blindsided Lippett.

  17. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I hope tanny plays against the steelers.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I hope they make the right decision with him. Don’t rush him out there if it is going to do more harm and jeopardize his career.

  18. olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

I believe Tanny’s chances of playing in Pittsburgh are slim & none. And “SLIM” just left town. Matt Moore has performed well in Tanny’s absence, particularly at New York and at Buffalo. And he certainly did NOT cause Miami to lose today to the Pats. Now if Moore can lead the Fins to a win over the Steelers, “Tanny” will get a much needed extra week to get healthy and prepare for the Cheats. I’d say there’s LESS THAN a 50-50 chance Tannehill plays in Foxboro in 2 weeks. But I believe GASE will keep Belicheat guessing about Miami’s quarterback situation right up until kickoff, IF we beat Pittsburgh the week before. NOTHING like a little intrigue, eh?

    • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

BTW, we sure could have used a healthy Maxwell today. Wonder what his chances are of playing in Pittsburgh?? – – Also, I did NOT see the Dolphins lose a player to injury today. Does anybody have input on these issues?

  19. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    OD

I stay steadfast with my belief that Tanny is not done for the season. If he can practice, and show he can move around well enough, and of course, not be in pain while doing so, #17 will be playing for us at Heinz Field next week.

  20. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’m assuming we play Saturday, is that right?

  21. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Ken

I think RGIII was severely compromised before the game. I don’t think we will allow Tanny to play under those conditions. If he can’t basically do what he did all season, i don’t think he plays.

  22. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

    Steve

    I don’t follow what you just said . . .

  23. so, again, not saying Moore is the better option but with the way he has played to this point are we going to say that we have a better shot with Tannehill in there?
In all seriousness, I don’t know how anyone can say that. This offense is NOT about the qb. It’s about the O!
Gase made the qb position plug ‘n play. THAT is the truth.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Are you serious Clark? Not disparaging the job Moore has done but the offense is better with Tannehill out there and if you can’t see that I don’t know what you’re watching

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

        Lol

      • Our offense is NOT dependent on whether Tannehill or Moore play the qb position. Did you see when we scored before the half how we went down the field in the hurry up? Would Tannehill have done it any better?
When Williams had the ball knocked out for the fumble we were driving. Moore was making some nice throws and we were moving the ball. But for the Williams fumble we may have scored again and been close enough to possibly win the game.
Can anyone realistically say that if Tannehill was in there the result would have been different? If they are, THEY don’t know what they are watching.
Again, as I stated BEFORE the season. If the offense is successful it’s not going to have as much to do with Tannehill as it does about the entire O.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

There is a reason why Tannehill starts and Moore is a backup. I am not knocking Moore he has done a fine job but the difference in accuracy and athleticism is noticeable when Moore is out there

      • Really Ken? mmm. Interesting. Moore’s TD production is almost half what RT has all season in just 3 games and he’s only been sacked once. That’s kind of interesting.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I guess you have to pick one bad prediction or the other. Seems your wanting to dump Moore before the season…

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Everyone makes bad predictions, I said Damien and Ajayi were both done, but you can’t seem to admit when you’re wrong, so you keep coming up with more ridiculous reasons to back up what you said.

      • Yeah, we’re still winning with Moore at qb but I’m pulling shit out of my ass. Today’s loss wasn’t about Tannehill not being in there. It was because the D couldn’t stop NE.

  24. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

That’s how you catch the ball and turn up field Ripkowski.

  25. Yes, and the Damien Williams blame game is ridiculous as well. If you’re blaming Williams for the fumble you may as well go in the corner and suck your thumb.

  26. Answer this question truthfully. Going into the playoff game vs Pittsburgh are you more concerned with our D’s ability to stop the Pittsburgh O or are you more concerned with Moore’s ability to play the qb position vs Pitt?
Are you even concerned about Moore? I doubt it.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

One has nothing to do with the other.

Then why does everyone keep talking about when RT is going to come back.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Concerned about both but more concerned about putting up enough points to win. You know Pitt will score so yes I think we score more with Tannehill under center than Moore.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Ken, why do you fuel his ridiculousness? Obviously we have more concerns with the D, but one has nothing to do with the other, it’s a change the subject situation.

    • lol. you guys are kidding yourselves. More concerned with putting up enough points? C’mon Ken. Get real. You know you’re more concerned about the D then you are about the qb but you just don’t want to admit it. In 7 of 13 starts Tannehill has thrown 1 td or less and you think we have more of a chance to score with him in there?

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

No I am actually not concerned about the D. I know what to expect from them. I am more concerned we won’t score enough. We all know the D is not good. We all know the key is score and play with the lead which allows to play to its strength which is to let Wake and Suh rush the passer. So yes I more concerned about playing with Moore as opposed to this defense

      • We’ve been a 2nd half team all season. Our modus operandi all year has been to keep it close going into the 2nd half and win it in the third and fourth qtrs. and most of the games it was either the run game or big plays by the D or special teams that has contributed to our wins than anything else.
So, this thought that the qb position has been or will be the difference maker is incorrect.

  27. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Moore rolling to his left threw a horrible floater INT, cause he wasn’t strong enough to put any zip on it.
But the run D & middle of the field D is a big liability and that’s where most out injuries lie, LB’s & S’s.

  28. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Okay not the way I wanted to see us finish but you have little room for error against the Pats. We’re the walking wounded right now and not primed for the playoffs but hey we made it. So you’re saying there is a chance? LOL

    Go Phins!!!!

Bad year to be a coach in Cali :
    Kelly fired
    McCoy fired

Fisher fired a couple of weeks ago

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Wow! Kelly already? McCoy I knew was happening. Lose to the Browns and then the Chiefs with no stability as a franchise. That’s easy. Kelly after one year shows the 49ers have no direction. Not a good place to be.

  32. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Bad year to be a Fisher . . . Too soon?

  33. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Tannehill is our best QB, simple as that. If he’s healthy enough to play, he should play. There’s no question about this. If Earl Mitchell played well while Suh was out for 3 games, would we be saying Suh should sit, and Mitchell should play? No shot. If he’s cleared to play, he’s going to play, no matter what ANY of us think. If he’s not healthy enough, the decision is just as easy, It’s up to Moore.

    • Because Suh makes a bigger difference on the defensive side of the ball. The QB in Gase’s system doesn’t.
If RT is healthy, I agree, he should play because he’s the starter and he’s getting paid to play. However, going into this playoff game I don’t feel any more concerned about the qb position going up against Pitt than I would otherwise. In this offense, Moore is more than capable of getting the job done.
Put it this way, if we were talking about last year’s offense, neither would be successful

      • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I feel differently Lou. While I think Moore has done a good job, especially against the Jets and Bills, I’d rather have Tannehill out there. I think he gives us a better chance to win. It may all be moot though, because if he doesn’t start practicing by Tuesday at the latest, I don’t think he’s going to play.

  34. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I’m glad we’re playing Sunday, it gives us one more day to rest up, get as healthy as possible, and also gives Tannehill one more day to possibly get back.

  35. No matter what happens next week I think we all can agree that this was a great season, we’ve got our HC and a blue print and going forward things look bright for this team.
Whether we lost to Pittsburgh or win we all should be thrilled with the season we’ve had because it’s the most fun we’ve had as Dolfans in a long time.
Kudos to everyone, including our many backups who came in and helped out a lot and stepped up in games for us. A great performance by a team that easily could have crumbled and gone on to another 5-11 season.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I agree, but after watching today’s game we’really still miles behind the cheats in execution, but that’s something we’ll get better at in the years to come. In Gase I trust.

      • We need LB, LB, LB and O-line in the offseason. It all starts in the trenches and we have a pretty good d-line and Phillips is only going to get better. But, we can’t stop the run and we’re too inconsistent on the o-line. I can give two shits about a TE, WR or RB at this point.

  36. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

How about Matt Prater, cut from one of our JJ teams having the highest % on 50+ yard kicks in NFL history. It didn’t hurt playing at mile high, but…

WEATHER FORECAST FOR Pittsburgh on Sunday; High 28; Low 14, some clouds. Temps should remain in the mid to upper 20’s throughout the game.
    —————————-
FOOTBALL FORECAST; Who runs for the most yards, LeVeon Bell or Jay Ajayi??? –For Fins to win, Ajayi MUST have a big day!! Having Maxwell back and playing well is another MUST for Miami. And is there ANY WAY we can upgrade Spencer Paysinger this late in the season??–probably not. Miami’s trio of outstanding wide receivers MUST have a big day to offset the Steelers’ Antonio Brown. Both Sims and Gray must have decent days from the TE position. Last meeting. Big Ben was constantly hounded by Miami’s pass rush. He was eventually injured and driven from the game. Miami’s pass rush schemes MUST pay off in pressures and SACKS (unlike the Patriots’ game where Brady had PLENTY of time).

The Dolphins MUST WIN the turnover battle in this game (they forced ZERO turnovers against the Cheats). And the Dolphins MUST avoid drive-extending PENALTIES, which just KILLED THEM against New England. If Miami has 5 or fewer penalties, they should win this game. 10 or more penalties likely means the opposite outcome. Sounds like a lot of “MUSTS,” doesn’t it?? – – Well, the Dolphins accomplished these goals in October and rolled to a convincing 30-15 victory over Pittsburgh. They HAVE DONE IT. AND, they can DO IT AGAIN! They have won two “must win” road games in December, and they can win this game, too!

Finally, MATT MOORE MUST do what he has been doing during the last 3 games (for the most part). He MUST NOT make stupid decisions, like throwing into coverage across the field. And he must HIT wide receivers who are open for touchdowns. And, believe me, Miami’s wide outs WILL GET OPEN!

    GOOO-O-O FINS!!!

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Keys to the game are silly, if they played out as much as people think betting the under/over would be an easy bet. In reality it’s just a way for the commentators to hype the game as it starts.

STEVE CCNV; Steve Smith owned the Dolphins. His career stats are borderline for the HOF. But I’d like to see him get inducted because of what he does/did OFF the field. Hey !!!

    • It was a great play by the db punching the ball out. He wasn’t carrying it like a loaf of bread or anything. He had it tucked.
It’s amazing how when Tannehill is hit and fumbles the ball it’s on the offensive line but when Williams is trying to make a play and the ball gets punched out it’s on Williams. Just like the int by the Ravens db was on Parker.
Fucking BS. That’s all it is

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

        Lou,
a rbs # 1 job is to protect the football from getting punched out. Williams failed to do his job on that play. Not sure why this has anything to do with tanny.

      • Really? I thought a rb’s #1 job was to get as many yards as they can. I cannot fault Williams for trying to make more out of that play. He’s done it before. If you want to cry in your Cheerios about stupid shit like this than go ahead.

      • He has ONE fumble this year. Making it sound like it was a bonehead play on his part and it’s a common theme with him means ppl know little about the sport. Learn something.

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

LOU: WE GET IT that you hate Tannehill. You’re entitled to your views. I HATE ROSS because for 7 seasons he fucked this franchise, insulted his season ticket holders, and drove away over a dozen of “MY BOYZ” who hate him worse than I do! –But that’s water under the bridge, Lou. If you hate Tannehill, then give us a way to GET A BETTER QB!! –YOU may remember I wrote an article about how to fix the Dolphins franchise that Ross fucked over. Amazingly, a couple of the ideas have come to fruition, but MOST have not.
        —-
And, yes, sometimes when a QB fumbles it IS THE O-Line’s fault. Without Pouncey and a healthy Albert and Tunsil, we’re left with a so-so O-Line that can NOT stand up against the top teams. I WANT MIAMI to draft the BEST AVAILABLE O-LINEMAN in round 1 and the best available LB in round 2. BITCHIN’ won’t solve the problems. Offering CURES for perceived problems is the course you should consider, UNLESS you believe that Matt Moore is the long term answer at QB. AND THAT’s NOT BS—IT’s the TRUTH!!

  50. So, what do you say our chances are vs Pitt if Tannehill DOESN’T play?

  51. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

Miami ran the ball 16 times with Ajayi yesterday, and 23 x overall with depth players.
Both number must go up in a cold Pittsburgh on Sunday in order to limit Big Ben, Bell, & Brown’s opportunities.
I know after Ajayi drubbed them for over 200yds in week 6, that Pitt will likely stack the box. So Moore needs to be able to communicate with his receivers and check out of the play when the time is right.

  52. getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

On Miami’s run Defense….ugh….is Trevor Reilly ready yet? He is a big body! 😉

  53. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

On Damien’s fumble yesterday, it happens to all of them, my problem was what he did with his feet, and it’s not just him, all of our receivers do that stupid peel back after the catch, it must be contagious. Last night I watched most of the GB game, and didn’t see this ridiculousness once.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We have gotten a lot of YAC after our receivers do this

I don’t have a problem with Williams for fighting
It’s what I like about him

We’ve probably benefited it more than been hurt by it

      • Williams has 1 dropped pass and one fumble all season. he’s been awesome for us this year an he’s only going to get better. the one-handed catch that went for 11 was a nice play.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

He’s one of the reasons why we have 10 wins

Our players fight on every down

I say keep fighting on every down
You are gonna take the punches here and there but you are going to dole out some punches too

        Yeah

The bills game was won in broken tackles bc our guys fight

        People have short memories

Willims is 1 of many players on this team that fight for every inch

        That our team mentality

Some times you take it in the chin
        And yesterday we did

But we live to fight another day

  56. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I would have liked to have left the patriots battered and bruised yesterday after that game

    I don’t think that happened

It was sort of a makeshift roster
We’ve had a ton of injuries

But every game is a Janice to get better
And we have at least 1 more 😏

I hope they make the right decision with him. Don’t rush him out there if it is going to do more harm and jeopardize his career.
    *
This is exactly how I feel. His knee is nothing to mess around with. If he plays and seriously injures his knee, goes in for major surgery in two weeks, then we are lucky to have him back in October. He is definitely a better QB than Moore, but Moore has been putting up some points- he’s no slouch in this offense. We need to get the running game going against Pitt. If we can do that then the QB issue shouldn’t be much of one at all.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

his ACL could tear at anytime now. Even next year. If the mcl is healed he could play.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

That’s completely different. Anybody can get injured on any play but if you are putting somebody who is compromised out there are you doing more harm than good?

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

The ACL is the most significant one in terms of long term impact on his knee

  58. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

Nobody is saying Williams is a bad player or fumbles don’t happen. But that fumble was Williams fault and no one elses.

  59. Ken's avatar Ken says:

This TE Fumagali on Wisconsin is pretty good

  60. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    ken,
that was my point. The ACL doesn’t really heal up. Its partially torn now and it can tear fully anytime. I think they want to make sure the MCL is fully healed and can provide support. I doubt he plays if they don’t think the MCL is healed up.

  61. Ken's avatar Ken says:

I officially I have a man crush on Fumagali. I don’t even know if he is a senior but that is an NFL TE I am watching

  62. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I’m not going to bash Williams for fumbling, it happens. But there is no doubting that was the turning point in the game. We were potentially going to make the score 27-21 and instead it’s 35-14. That’s how fast a turnover can change a game.

  63. Ken's avatar Ken says:

Fumagali is a senior and a beast

  64. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So it does appear that Vance Joseph could be getting offers for a HC job this offseason. The Broncos being one of them.

    • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

yea.Denver is currently requesting interviews with joseph and shanahan. Joseph can’t interview until after our season is over.

  65. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

you can’t fix the ACL partial tear through arthroscopic surgery. Its total reconstruction if they decide to fix it through surgery. He should be able to play with a partially torn ACL though.

They might still decide to do the ACL reconstruction after the season but that could jeopardise next year. At least the beginning of year.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

      ACL reconstruction is done arthroscopically

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

yea but it has a 9 month recovery. What I meant was its not an out-patient quick type of recovery.

      • BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

I had mine done 15 year ago and back then it was a full on surgery. They took my patella tendon and screwed it in place where the ACL used to be.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

It is a prolonged recovery and requires grafting because you cannot suture the ACL together. However my point is if they are worried about further tearing then Tannehill is not playing and he is likely a surgical candidate

  66. Ken's avatar Ken says:

We are the 30th ranked D is Joseph really that hot of a coaching commodity?

  67. BoulderPhinfan's avatar BoulderPhinfan says:

    ken,
I agree. But if they wanted to do the surgery why wait? They could have done it a month ago and made sure he was ready for training camp. It seems like they think, because the ACL is only partially torn, he has a chance to still play this season.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

Some times you need to wait several weeks for swelling to go down to operate. You can’t operate if it is still swollen it’s not uncommon to wait

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

That all said it doesn’t sound as if Tannehill is a surgical candidate. I just want to make sure that by putting him out there we are going to turn him into one

  68. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Ken, we lack some talent on D and we’re down a bunch of guys as well. I can’t really put that all on VJ.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

It is not all on him but he does have 2 pro bowl DL also. He didn’t light the world on fire. Bottom line is losing Joseph is not all that impactful imo

  69. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

The players really like playing for him.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Yeah I like our system but we need some more impact players to make this defense really work. We’re playing a lot of 2nd level players now and/or young guys who are not at the the top of their games yet.

  74. Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

So the Bills, Rams, ,and Chargers have requested permission to talk with joesph
. Probably Broncos too. He’s as good as gone.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. He’s been an up and coming HC candidate the last few years just like Gase was.

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

He is a Rooney rule candidate I will be surprised if the DC of the 30 ranked D is really a legit HC candidate this year. You could hire Matt Patricia or VJ it’s not even close

I think VJ has done good work with our secondary this year, he brought along Lippett and Howard well. Like I said, i think we’ll be fine with a different DC, as long as we get enough talent at LB and DE, and possibly S if IAQ can’t make it back.

4 interviews for VJ tells me he’s more than a Rooney rule interview. I won’t be the least bit surprised if he gets a job. I won’t be completely heartbroken either as this Defense is ranked 30th in several categories, and it’s highest ranking in any major category is 15th.

I know about injuries and all that, if the best you can do is 15th in anything, you’re not a real contender are you?

That said, we’ll win a Superbowl this year on magic, and I’ll take that! 😛

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We’re tied for 11th in takeaways, that can be more important than yards, also the D stepped up when the game was on the line.

Don’t be too concerned with the 10 pt line, the Steelers represent well at the books, but they shouldn’t even be in the playoffs, Baltimore had them beat and let them off the hook.

CONGRATS to USC for winning what may have been the greatest Rose Bowl game of all time! – – And, NO, I’m NOT old enough to have seen all 103 Rose Bowls. But I AM OLD ENOUGH to see all 103 (or so) games between Buffalo and Miami, beginning in 1966, and the recent Miami win stands as their greatest win ever IN BUFFALO!
    ——————
USC’s win should put an end to all those Penn Staters who thought they belonged in the Final 4 College Football Playoff. IN FACT, Penn State’s loss capped a disastrous bowl season for the Little 10 with Michigan losing to Florida State and the Lions losing to the Trojans. Ohio State laying a goose egg against Clemson was JUST BRUTAL!! – – And Iowa getting blown out by Florida didn’t help the Little 10’s image, either. Here’s how I rate the 5 conferences in the “POWER 5;”
    #5: Little 10. (Which has 14 teams).
    #4: Big 12. (Which has 10 teams).
#3: Pac-12. (Which has 12 teams–congrats for getting THAT right!).
#2 and #1–To be determined by the National Championship game here in Tampa next Monday Night. IF ‘BAMA repeats as champion, the SEC is #1; IF CLEMSON WINS, the ACC is #1.

I guess today we’ll see just how far along Ryan Tannehill is. This is an important week for him, and for us. How he’s moving, and to what level his discomfort is, will determine whether he continues to practice and may possibly suit up this week, or whether he has to shut it down. I’d prefer that he’s healthy and can play, but I like Gase’s attitude, he won’t be compromising Tannehill’s future, or the TEAMS future with his decision. I trust he will do the right thing either way.
