Well, the Dolphins brass have made it clear, they wanted to improve the defense, and so far in the 2017 NFL Draft, the first 3 picks have gone to that side of the ball. In the 1st RD pick #22, The Dolphins took Mizzou DE Charles Harris (6’3″ 253)

In the 2nd RD, at pick #54, the Dolphins selected Ohio St. LB Raekwon McMillan (6’2″ 240). If I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really look closely at McMillan, there were other guys I was more interested in. McMillan could probably play any of the 3 LB spots, but maybe he’s our future MLB.

The Dolphins apparently weren’t done adding talent to the defense, because in the 3rd RD, the Dolphins took Clemson CB Cordrea Tankersley (6’1″ 199).

I hope the Dolphins will add some beef for the O-line, but that remains to be seen. Pitt OG Dorian Johnson is still available, as is Utah OG Isaac Asiata. In any case, Dolphins took care of business on the defensive side, and that’s a good thing
GO DOLPHINS! ZERO IN!

Why wait for June? Browns cut Gary Barnidge. Makes sense given where they are at and that he is 31 with Njoku newly selected, but talk about stopgap.
Can’t take another friggin’ CLE TE. lol
He wouldn’t be that pricey though…..what I don’t know is if he can block.
I think we targeted certain guys and they were available to us
Harris, McMillan and Tankserly
Interest in all 3 was leaked before the draft
Ken, based on grades we went BPA with a nod to need. We didn’t reach for anyone. I think our draft has been very good value at key defensive positions.
Harris – big time pass rush prospect
McMillan – lead one of the best teams in the country in tackles
Tankersley – a playing making corner for the best team in the country
Tim no one is saying they shouldn’t I just was saying wise Jr was a guy we liked a lot and I had hoped we would get, that was my frustration it could easily been fucking Lions or fucking bucs, I have said those several times the past 3days
I’m just having some fun. 🙂
Ok
Mikey, Barnige would be different as we wouldn’t have lead our TE group nor being a top passing target as our expectation of him. He’d basically be what Sims was, but if rather just draft Sprinkle if that’s the case
That’s what I’m thinking D, just draft one
I like it because you might get a gem, it’s kinda a gamble but I like it better than getting a guy who you go well he won’t ever be anything special but he’s going to do his job. You need those guys, but we also already have one in Fasano and Gray, we need a guy we are gambling on being better than that
Wise was my stout big bodied DE to pair with a speed rusher. That’s kinda another reason I’m a bit down missing out on him.
Who left would be your Hayes replacement down the road?
I like kieonta Davis, and Bryan Cox Jr
Butt off the board
If Brantley goes undrafted and it looks like he may. I’d be all over that investigation and as soon as I thought he might be cleared I’m making him an UDFA offer
Isn’t it known he knocked a woman out and her tooth?
Still being investigated I think. Like I was saying I’d follow the investigation and do my work, but he would be a good player and maybe even as a DE. I don’t want him if he is guilty, but I will say the dude has been squeeky clean his entire career there, so I just don’t know how I feel about this and where or not it’s one of those right before the draft things like happened with Tunsil and Lael
Come on Griier this is the money round! Pick three Jones type picks. Get us some 5 round probowl players.
Corn elder gone, one more foods player to go
Geez
kittle brown elder butt Leggett King all of the board before we pick in the 5th
What kind of bullshit
Kittle and leggett gone, I’d take Sprinkle with our first 5th if he is still there. TE is getting light. Asiata isn’t going to last much longer either
First kicker gone
I owe you a beer
Speaking of Beers who was asking about the Abita beer yesterday?
First kicker is off the board here comes the run
DAMNIT!! JAKE ELLIOTT OFF THE BOARD! 😉
LOL
With Kaaya still there I’m not going to be shocked if he is one of our 5s, I could see it being TE OG QB and WR. I’d prefer a S in that 5th round but S is already pretty damn light now
I would be surprised if we draft a QB
D, smoking weed and not killing your ex-girlfriend is not the same as knocking a woman out if he did. It doesn’t seem to be the same to me.
Tim, the situation not the crime. I’d call murder the worst of the accusations, I’m saying the use of allegation to corrupt their draft status. I’m saying I don’t know if it wasn’t a spiteful accusation or if it’s real. I haven’t looked into it much so I just don’t know
Tim not murdering your GF or not hitting a girl… Which then?
Collins had nothing to do with it so he was clean but got screwed. It sounds like Brantley did what he’s accused of. Perception is not always reality and that sucks.
There goes sprinkles
I know, Hodges is left
The 5th round of tears
D:
I didn’t catch the conversation about Abita beer yesterday
Someone was asking about Abita andygator. Don’t remember who
Tim you and I are just in different places on the subject you have him as guilty I’m going with the fact that guilt hasn’t been established yet.
I thought there were witnesses based on what I read but I’m not following it closely either.
So much for drafting a TE
All the good ones went off the board In a flurry
Still have Hodges, he isn’t a good balanced TE but he can be a receiving threat. I’m looking for a better more upside version of Sims which is exactly what Sprinkle was. Too bad we missed out
He blocks like a bullfighter
I’m not worried about TE this year.
PLAYER POS HT WT COLLEGE GRADE WATCH
Hodges, Bucky TE 6’6″ 257 Virginia Tech 5.7
Asiata, Isaac OG 6’3″ 323 Utah 5.5
Eluemunor, Jermaine OG 6’4″ 332 Texas A&M 5.4
Roullier, Chase C 6’4″ 312 Wyoming 5.4
Jones, D.J. DT 6’1″ 319 Mississippi 5.6
Qualls, Elijah DT 6’1″ 313 Washington 5.6
Jones, Jarron DT 6’6″ 316 Notre Dame 5.5
Ledbetter, Jeremiah DE 6’3″ 280 Arkansas 5.5
Price, Ejuan DE 5’11” 241 Pittsburgh 5.4
Johnson, Jadar S 6’0″ 206 Clemson 5.4
Harvey-Clemons, Josh S 6’4″ 217 Louisville 5.3
All these guys are left?
Asiata is who I want to be our next pick
That would be a good pick
He seems to be a good fit for our needs
LEDbetter is an interesting idea as a DE for us, like a lesser more power based Wise Jr, not as explosive but he can play DE or DT.
Elumenor is a good pick for Ravens. He is a big powerful guy
I didn’t really like him for us unless we just missed out on a whole bunch of other guys
Well there goes an OG
I can’t pronounce his name
So it doesn’t matter
Eh-loom-eh-nor
I will try
O-I-N-K
I think I got it
Asiata is the nastiest OG I saw when I was looking at guys and his feet are very quick. I think he would challenge for LG which I think is going to be Steen unless we get a guy who can challenge him. I think Larsen and Bushrod battle it out for RG
Most bench press reps at the combine
Strong guy
He plays mean too it’s a beautiful thing
Oh…there goes walker
Fucking Detroit better not do that shit to us again. Already did it with Davis and Tabor. Both visit guys
There goes Walker
I didn’t really like Walker to be honest. He was pretty great last year but not nearly as good this year. They blamed it on putting on too much weight to be seen as a potential 3-4 ILB, but he really just didn’t look like the same player.
I’d rather have Nickerson with an UDFA pickup than Walker
Or boulware
How many LBs do we need? Maybe 6-7 suit up on game day, 3 start, 2 play most nickel downs, the rest play STs and that’s it.
I think we got out starters I think though I’d like to get a little better quality at depth but I think we can get someone to challenge the depth players from UDFA
See above
I think part of the problem is Hewitt is in the mix at 24 years old entering his 3rd season but for some reason he gets no love. I understand people’s concern with Misi’s durability but Hewitt gets the stink eye and he’s better than that. No prospect at this point is projected to be an impact player. We’re in Sleeperville now. 😉
We just traded up
Asiata
Bet they were worried DET was going to fuck us again lol
We have 2 of the next 3 picks now
Get ready
No we don’t, we traded our 5th as part of the trade up it looks like to me
Looks like we flopped with Philly
So not 2 of the next 3
Just the next one
Then we have to wait a few picks
What did we give up
I bet the 7th
Couldn’t have been much
It’s Asiata
Good pick
Maybe better than anyone we could have had earlier
Can be a starter
I agree he is a guy I really liked
Woohoo Asiata pencil him in as a starter
There you go, we got the guard you’re all jerking off over. LOL
I wouldn’t jerk off on asiata see obove I think he is a very mean big man
I know
I want everyone to shut the fuck up already on the OL
This guy can be a starter
Very good pick
Maybe they are tired and just want to get it over with lol
Asiata….woot
Steve will say Asiata has weight issues, slow out of his stance, blah blah….
Ken I think he and Steen will battle it out for LG, and I bet it’s a really good battle
Glad we got Asiata. WTG!
Another visit guy and guy we really liked after meeting with him
They are definitely getting their people. In fact all have been visit people with exception of Harris who they deliberately didn’t bring in for a visit to as a distraction tactic
Yeah, cool that we were actually able to get him
It’s kind of funny that our 5th round selection is the one most likely to start on day 1
It’s totally true
It’s hilarious
WAHOO ASIATA!!! He fills the need!! REAL happy about this!
Asiata is also insurance or future for Pouncey Caneman..
Doubtful. He is a good OG but we would want to get a higher pick as insurance for Pouncey. That probably happens next year.
yaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy Asiata
He got an A+ as the 164th pick by CBS
What do you think of that Piggy?
We finally got our new Dark Richie!
You can see him pancake people on plays where he could gave up on the block but he likes to finish them. I’d take his left side buddy too as an UDFA.
Tevi

The Dolphins traded for No. 164 and 194 for 166 and 184 — all within the fifth round.
and THAT folks is how you trade up to assure that you get YOUR target….ZERO IN
Larsen was signed in case Pouncey is done, and also to compete at guard. Bushrod signed for another year after playing 17 games at RG last year. Now we add a tough guard in Asiata to compete with them, Steen and Urbik. The OL is not in dire straits.
I know I’m a homer but this draft is pretty damn good. They can all develop behind vets and maybe one or two jumps up and says you can’t not play me. 🙂
dude…..NEVER apologize for being a homer…..wear it proud!
I don’t get excited about OL
But I really like the Asiata pick
I liked he Tankserly pick a lot too
Next up DT!
Or another LB…lol
I’m now seeing a good mix of finesse and power guys on both sides of the ball.
Go Phins!
I’m thinking TE next. Has Orion Stewart been selected yet?
I’d be tempted to take Caleb Brantley here…then make a big PR campaign on rehabbing his mentality.
I’m still thinking it’s safe to do it as UDFA and only if you research shows something that hasn’t been released and makes it at least less serious about the situation like he didn’t hit her he pushed her off him and she fell an knocked her tooth out.
LOL that’s my story and i’m sticking to it.
Qualls would be a good DT if we want one. I like big Stevie personally
both would be very fine picks. Thinking of Godchaux maybe too.
Gidcheaux would be a very good pick
D.J. Jones———COME ON DOWN!
would be fine with DJ as well.
Piggy it could be Lee?
Man that would remind me of another LB I wanted very much! 😦
Tim I know Larsen was the FA insurance for Pouncey, but he’s temporary, as is Pouncey, whose days are short I feel.
Asiata has flexibility besides OG….he could become a dominant OC in a couple years.
BTW, them Utah boys are old….lol. Asiata will be 25 by the playoffs of his rookie season..
Didn’t Larsen sign a 3 year deal? We don’t have to worry about the future in just 2017. We will have FA and a draft next year too. 😉
This is a draft where we have definitely gone after needs. We are clearly filling holes on the roster. I don’t think anyone has been a reach. We can all if each of these guys was the best one out there but overall I think this looks like a good draft. Now of course we have to see how these guys turn out
I think it’s seems that way because we had pseudo needs at a lot of positions, yet not true needs at really any. We just got players we liked at whatever position they played
D
Bucky Hodges is still on the board?
Looks like it
Bills get QB Peterbreath
I liked that guy. He isn’t anything special but he has all the skills of a QB and most can be refined for them to be good enough to be a starter
That’s a really fucked up name. LOL
You guys have been talking about him all along the way (and props to everyone who did), but does Asiata fit in a zone blocking scheme or is it a sign we might do something else?
Yes they ran zbs at Utah
They had some power block formations as well so he is perfect for us because we do the same thing
Even better then……not every player fits the poster for it.
I’d take a flyer with Brantley or Taylor and give them time.
i would assume we gave philly #184?? did we get anything else from them?
The 10 pick in the 6th
We flipped two picks with them
I think

194 is the 6th round
But I get his point
Could be a big box safety?
Harvey-Clemons, Josh S 6’4″ 217 Louisville
I like Orion Stewart
GD, Larsen might be temporary but it also buys time for us to draft an OC that’s a stud. You really want your IC to be a smart football player. They are done a dozen and you just can’t plug any OG there and expect success. It’s probably the hardest position on the OL since it includes knowing what all the other positions are doing, even though your most physically gifter player on the OL is the LT usually
Aren’t
While other teams wish they had a Tunsil at LT we’re still in worry mode. Ask Eli Manning if he’s cool with his LT? 😉
They wish they had Pouncey too even knowing his injury situation
Stanger, Asiata initially is more a phone booth guy, but this Fla heat & humidity will condition his big azz.
No he isn’t. Not even close. Watch some more of his tape GD he has really good feet and they pulled him all the time
I think the trade up was a flip with Philly to take Asiata
And then a flip down from 5th round last pick with Philly to the 10th pick in the 6th round
Was a good trade
Our pick is live, I bet it’s Kaaya
I don’t see that at all
Ok D, Asiata will never be a OC since he can’t even spell his own name.
What makes you think he is?
What makes you think we wouldn’t want to draft a guy next year, why does that have to be why we picked him this year?
he’s our next Hall of Fame guard. Let’s not get over confident with this 5th round player. The two players we released mid season were drafted higher than this kid. It’s a crap shot with 5th rounders in addition I doubt if he starts at the LG spot he will be better than The rookie we had there last yr.
GD don’t just try twisting words saying something I didn’t because I disagree. I gave my reasons why, just give me yours for why not. Keep it above the belt bro
WTF?
D, you’re taking me out of context, I never said he couldn’t or didn’t pull or sweep. I said initially he’s more a phone booth power guy, but yes he has good feet…..he’ll need some work though to be a great ZBS in the much tougher NFL, but I think he’ll get there as I also mentioned.
Jadar Johnson had a pretty good year if we can stand 2 Clemson DB’s
lead the team with five interceptions, making 60 tackles and breaking up seven passes.
pat surtain on nfl network
Godcheaux good call Naples
Good call D
Oops
Good call Naples
Naples really called it I piled on because I agreed I just forgot he was still out there
Boom!!! There’s the DT.
I love this pick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He can step right in as a quality rotational run stuffer
It was a good place to pick a DT
I don’t know much about him
But I usually like LSU players
Godchaux, hmm….I would’ve taken a flyer on Taylor or Brantley there. Godchaux disappears as much or more than those other two.
GD you said he us more a phone booth guy, and he isn’t. Utah ran a ZBS they ran shifts and lots of movement on the line. It’s not that he can be something else, it’s that he isn’t at all a phone booth guu
WOW, ok you win….whatever you say I said then…lol
Alright I am out for now. Can’t complain about the draft so far a n let’s keep it that way
I’d take Brantley as a priority UDFA. I wouldn’t feel good drafting him without being sure of his domestic violence situation
Godchaux @dgodch1 9m9 minutes ago

Miami here I come🙏🏽
Godcheaux better hit the weight room – HARD! 18 reps for an interior lineman? Uh-uh
He has a decent amount to work on, but he could be great if he just works at it
GD Im sorry. Not my intention to get into it with you. We just disagee. Again I apologise
I LOVE this draft especially with the 4TH ROUNDER that Mike called correctly with carroo. WOO———HOOOOOOO
Godchaux or any developmental DT was good for the 5th round. He’s got plenty of power and a pretty good motor, doesn’t seem to give up very often….he could be a good gap plugger especially in the short run game….as good a pick as anything else still on the board.
His ceiling is higher than most available there. He does need to really put in some work though. I have heard from some LSU fans he isn’t really a gym rat. But he dies play with a high motor. Just needs to help himself on the field by helping himself outside it
We wanted to get younger and deeper on defense and also add a guard. Uhm……. didn’t that happen? 😉
Only thing we haven’t hit are S and TE…..all while seemed we are going BPA as well.
Another young kid from a big school…….almost sensing a theme.
D, no prob man. I just think ya took my intent a different way….but it happens on a text blog with my short choppy tidbits…..things are happening quick with a live draft so I didn’t go into several paragraphs of a full break down. I like Asiata’s potential. He should round into a good OL.
