The Dolphins doubled up on defensive tackles in RD 6, and overall to that point, spent 5 of 6 picks on the defensive side of the ball. While Davon Godchaux is more of a slippery, elusive DT, Taylor is more of a power penetrator with a good strong burst. Taylor had some good production at Oklahoma State. He started 34 games over his 3 years at Okl. St., and his last season, his Junior season, Taylor racked up 51 tackles (31 solo), 13 TFL, 7.5 sacks, 1 PD, 2 FF’s and 1 FR. Pretty solid season.
Taylor is not ideally built for a DT, he is big in his upper body, but too thin and narrow in his lower body. He was projected by Lance Zierlein to go RD 6-7, and that’s exactly where he landed. He’s not going to be expected at this point to be anything more than a guy in the rotation, providing he makes the team. He does have some good upper body strength, but a lack of general flexibility and lower body girth and power may hinder his chances. He has a shot to make the team, but he has some competition, and can also land on the PS, if he doesn’t make the 53.

I have been looking at a few different formations that have the characteristic of a wide 9, but they are a little different, in fact im pretty sure our “Wide 9” last year was more what some teams (Seattle specifically) called the Leo, which is an 4-3 Under or Over formation with a hybrid LB/DE lined up wide (Leo), and could be had on the ground or standing up, you wind up with a hybrid 4-3, 3-4, which could look a lot like a 5-2 or 5-3 in some lineups. The DT’s (usually 3, and one is a DE/DT hybrid) in Under would be a 4 technique 2 gap DT, a 2 gap 1 technique DT/NT, and a 3 Technique 1 gap DT. Leo to the 3 tech DT side. Over would be similar for the DT’s, and only real difference is you have the DE/DT play 6 technique 2 gap on the 3 tech’s side, and the Leo would be on the 1 tech DT’s. The nickle for this formation is something called “bear”, or double eagle, and there are basically two leo’s, both could have pass rushing assignments, both could drop into coverage, or it could be an either or.
I could easily see this being a more common formation for us. Hayes/Branch can man the role of the hybrid DE/DL, Phillips as the DT/NT hybrid, Suh as the primarily 3 technique DT, which is his strength. Wake, Harris, or Alonzo in the Leo role. Timmons primarily as the MLB thumper, ie the Wagner role. Alonzo as primary Will, but occasionally as Leo, Wake and Hayes as Leo’s.
Jones is good in both coverage and run support, he could be the deep or shallow safety, or could be flip flopped. Im still not sure who is going to play Sam role, but actually the way this defense is designed, Misi would be a decent one, Hull too. Id rather have Hewitt as backup Will/Leo. There is a lot of cover 1 in this formation, so we would have to be pretty certain of at least one of our CB’s being able to lock down a guy.
Benefit of this one is that the nickle formation would have a lot of Harris and Wake on the field at the same time, and still hide the way they would be used, ie lined up as twin DE’s, having both of them out there likely would be a give away as a pass rush formation, whereas having them as “LB’s” you wouldn’t know for sure and coming from wide lineup, its be almost impossible to stop both without holding back your TE and RB as blockers.
Our team is definitely set up to do this, and i saw a little bit of that last year as well, with Alonzo and Hewitt lined up as Leo a few times. I think because of our CB’s and S’s last year, though we ran it out o cover 2, which the way this is designed is a bad idea, and would be exactly why we got destroyed in the middle of the field against some of the teams.
Good stuff. The idea is to spread the OL wide so double teams are difficult and to force teams to keep a TE or RB or both to stay in because there are too many open gaps. You have to have the talent to play this way and like you said I think we do.

I don’t know what my schedule is from hour to hour now a days but it would be fun since I don’t get to have fun lately with all these kids here going from room to room leaving the lights on without turning the lights off.These little FCKErs leave on the lights I think on purpose to piss me off. They think money grows on trees.

I know I raised my kids when leaving a room to turn off the lights but these grand kids are out of line even when I told them 100’s of times to turn off the lights. I do know that august 15 I’m having my nose surgery 1 of 3 for the reconstruction so it probably is a no go since I have to have 3 surgeries. The first surgery involves a flap taken from the forehead and placed on the nasal upwards to the forehead. Things are going to be ugly until the final surgery. I lost half of my nose from the fall in the bathroom at cleveland clinic when I was taken there for 4 weeks. The VA hospital in Miami is doing the surgery.I really don’t have confidence in private hospitals after the stay at the cleveland clinic.
All I can say on the nose surgery is my best of luck. Sounds harsh. Be nice to your grandkids though….not like electric costs that much each month when we are talking this or that light on. My wife likes to keep the place at 70 in August, but just like your loved ones — she’s worth it.
D, Timmons is also a good blitzer so there will be times when he shoots one of those gaps for instant pressure forcing a quick throw, a hit and/or a sack.
Also that’s why we drafted McMillan. He’s another guy who can fill those gaps or shoot them.
So you have Timmons and McMillan, Alonso being in the same defense for the first time in back to back years, young guys like Hewitt and Hull in their 2nd year in the defense and Misi as a physical presence around the LOS. We’ve got some mix and match options at LB and then add a guy like Harris who besides being a DE he can also be that edge OLB standing – we can employ so many formations. I’ve heard we might use him inside at times as well because of his quick step to shoot a gap.

Here’s an example of a wide 9 we ran last year early in the year. Now just replace some players in different roles.
LOL – Nice to have Reshad in there. We’re better when he’s in there, despite the fact we won without him.
Yeah no doubt Reshad brings another element to our defense. Our roster on defense is better and deeper than it was last year. If we stay healthy, we may not be a great defense, but we should definitely be better and hopefully more opportunistic.
The philosophy of this team lead by Gase is control the ball more, score a lot and attack on defense never allowing opponents to get comfortable. Both sides of the ball needs to be better this year but we saw flashes of it last year.

I’d sacrifice those 200 + yard games by Ajayi for amore even distribution during the seasons, like 100 + every game. I also realize that w/o those big games, we weren’t going to win a few of those. I think our offense should be better this year, especially with Thomas, and Fasano in there blocking. Just hope Pouncey is able to play at a high level, or things could get ugly. Defense has to be better with the personnel we added, especially Timmons, and of course drafting Harris, Raekwon and Tank, and maybe even Godchaux.
How about a few 200 yard games and 6 or 7 100 yard games? 🙂
I’d like to see us be a team that rushes for 150 and passes for 250, has more time of possession, scores in the top 10 in the league and makes things happen on defense even if not the best ranked yardage defense. Shorten the game on offense and make more game changing plays on defense. That’s the goal.

No doubt. It was a season for everyone to learn about themselves type season. We had no idea Ajayi could be that good. Now we do. This org believes in building on what we already know is good. Let’s not keep churning every year which is what we’ve done for quite some time. Build a team based around the talent we have and add to it. This offseason felt like that. We’ll see if ti works out that way. I thought the Mets were headed that way too. If you can’t keep your best players on the field it’s gonna be tough to succeed.

You are right about an uneven Ajayi rushing attack, Mike E: Ajayi killed it in the games that Mike Pouncey started. IMO, it’s VERY important that Pouncey gets healthy enough for game 1 and stays relatively healthy through all 16 games.
The chances of that would seem to be slim, but we shall see. Many of us (*raises hand*) wanted to draft a contingency plan for Pouncey this year for when he goes down YET AGAIN. And it’s not that Pouncey sucks at all… he’s EXCELLENT when healthy.
It certainly seems as though our running prowess is directly correlated to a healthy Pouncey… for that is when Ajayi resembles BEAST MODE. Let’s hope Nick Mangold is staying in shape and solely wanting to play for the man that drafted him (Mike Tannenbaum) if/when Pouncey goes down again.
But even if we sign Mangold in this emergency situation, he’s no long-term answer at the Center position. We’re putting MUCH faith (perhaps too much?) in Pouncey to get and then stay healthy. JMO. Prediction: we’ll be drafting a Center in ’18.
PS: I’m ROOTING for Pouncey’s return to permanent health. Our O-Line is much, much better with him than without him… and I don’t think he’ll be easily replaced, as evidenced over the last several years when he went down.
Part of the problem was Steen got banged up too – ankle and rotator cuff injuries. Urbik was our 3rd center.
That was definitely part of the problem, Tim. I still think we could have done better in addressing these problems.
I also would have loved to see a plan for life without Pouncey that didn’t involve Steen or Urbik starting a bunch of games. I think this whole, not practice Pouncey and keep him healthy plan is going to backfire twice. I doubt he stays healthy, and with less practice, I worry about his effectiveness. Communication and cohesiveness are the two biggest components of excellent lineplay. Harder to build those if you don’t practice. I think if Pouncey stays healthy, our line plays well, and our offense could be top 5. If he goes down, and we play most of the season with Urbik and/or Steen…who knows.

Again Steen got hurt too. You could bring in anyone and if they go down, how deep can any team go at any position? I think our depth is solid, durability across the board is what matters.
I hear ya and agree… but beware rotator cuff injuries. I like Steen, but I’m not sure he’s the answer to replace Pouncey as a starter. Decent backup? Perhaps.

That a very good point you bring up, here. When the backups get extensive reps, there’s a very good chance that their game steps up and they grow.
You know what it comes down to is talent. Look at our roster. There is plenty of it. Are they all there weeks 14-16 and beyond? This team can be very good.
I’m 100% with ya on the talent aspect as well. I HOPE that Steen and Urbik (as Cav Kong cited above) have that talent… but I’m not sure. They’re certainly getting major reps in Pouncey’s absence, but do they truly possess the talent? That’s what we’re going to find out, sooner or later, and if/when Pouncey goes down again.
But as you stated, these major reps are definitely going to benefit Pouncey’s backups.

M13, where do you find great backup centers 2 and 3 deep? We can’t use major resources for that now. If Pouncey breaks down again he’s likely done. But no guarantee some rook center is going to be the answer either. Wasn’t a good year for OL.
I didn’t want to draft a “backup” Center, but rather, Pouncey’s eventual replacement… especially if the draftee could start at Guard (ie: POSITIONAL VERSATILITY… and see Pat Elflein) for us this year as a rook, allowing Pouncey a chance to recover.
It’s all good and I’m not upset about the matter… I just think we’ve put too much faith in Pouncey’s recovery. Hopefully, all will fall in place.
Methinks this could be the ONLY flaw in our Offensive philosophy… to put SO much trust in Pouncey’s recovery. Aside from that, I think we’re looking VERY GOOD, Bro!
Right now it seems that it’s Urbik, Steen, Larsen. It could be worse. I think the coaches want Steen and Larsen to compete at guard. But they have center depth here.

The wide nine spreads out the Oline to make the gaps larger and double teams against the D more difficult, but it depends soooo much on the LB play to fill those giant holes and our personnel were not up to it last year.

LB looks a lot better right now than last year. No Timmons or McMillan or even Harris as a hybrid Joker/Elephant/Rover. He’s not a pure DE. He’s Wake in the making but Wake started off as a hybrid first too. 🙂
I understand we could only fill so many holes in one offseason, and it’s about matching resources to need. We can sit here all day and talk ifs. My statement is pretty simple though. I personally would have liked to seen some resources spent at center, rather than go in with a strong possibility of playing a backup for significant time. Maybe we get lucky and Pouncey plays most of the year, and is effective. Personally, I think it’s highly likely it will be an issue all year. Either way, it’ll surely get addressed next year. If Urbik or Steen suddenly develop into a starter, then problem solved.
This doesn’t mean I don’t like what we’ve done this offseason. I think we’re definitely moving in the right direction, and am excited for the new season. It’s amazing what a change Gase has made in a year and an offseason.
My main concern on offense right now is backup Tackle spot. Specially LT.
If Tunsil was hurt long term, I’d bet they move Ja’Wuan James to LT, and then either Young, Poole, or one of the Young’s, Sam or Avery would play RT.

I think your missing the point of me complaining at the kids for not turning off the lights when leaving the room.
Every saved sometimes adds up to a nickel and so many of them add up to a dime and so on. These kids now a days think they should be given stuff for no reason at all. One finishes their homework before homework time and they think they should be able to leave the study table instead of doing more studying or helping their brothers or sisters with their assignments so their sisters or brothers have to stay at the table till their assignments are done. These kids now a days would fail anatomy if I was their parents because they would think the foot was connected to their ass.
I completely understand the penny saved is a penny earned thing, but also get the people biotching about the wasteful ways of the next generation are as old as time. My Dad laughed at how cheap his Dad was for using tea bags four times but got on me for not turning out lights. I still look at that as no big deal but just told you how I biotch about my wife for keeping the place chilled during the summer (she’s not my kid but I’d find something to biotch about in terms of them if I did…maybe cell phone charges).
Am guessing some caveman grandfather was complaining about how the kids these days put an extra branch on the fire before they should.

It’s pretty cool when you think of it that most of our concerns as fans is now about depth at a few positions. That means we’re pretty content with a lot of the talent on this team. 🙂
It’s true, there’s not a lot to look at that you don’t like. The offense should be really good as long as everyone stays healthy, and it looks like we have good WR depth. TE is a little thin, and the O-line maybe thinner, but otherwise, you have to like what you see
As Mets fans, we know that depth can quickly evaporate. When your pitching rotation was thought to have 7 or 8 starters, and for most of the season, we’ve had to use all 8, and now 2 of them are out long term
well as we know from past seasons injuries are the main reason our seasons go south. And if you don’t have depth then you don’t have a chance.
Yep — and nice thing about how Gase is doing depth seems to also offer the chance for extra pieces to game plan with on game day at certain positions. Like all the units on D and even at WR or RB.

I don’t know Boulder, and I’m just speculating that if it were a lo9ng term injury, not just a game or two.
Our DL has a ton of position flexibility. When i was looking at that other possible wide 9 type formation, i could see how Suh pretty much for fill any of the DL spots, Phillips probably 2, Wake and Harris both a couple positions they could do. Hayes and Branch would be playing to their strengths there, and Hayes might also be flexible enough for one of the other spots. Most the LB’s have position flexibility, though our backups wouldn’t be as flexible, they would sub out more specifically for certain players on certain plays If McMillian gets up to speed he probably has the most flexibility out of all of them. Our secondary would have to be better, but really only one of the boundary guys would have to really step up, and way things are sounding with Howard he could hold down one side, which is all we would need to mke that scheme work really well.
If we went with that Leo package, we would be scheming to both get Suh and Phillips chances to fuck shit up but if Phillips is on more than off, the two of them would make it almost impossible to stop a delayed Safety and LB blitzes fromt he middle. We’d probably get 5-6 sacks from Timmons and Jones. On top of that, packages that Harris and Wake on the field at the same time, they would almost 100% guarantee a single really unprepared blocker (TE) against one of those two.
Does anyone know why Tunsil sat out the mini camp? “Tunsilitis”? did he slip getting out of the shower?
Hamstring though he did participate at the end of OTAs on a limited basis.
Gase said it wasnt serious. Gase just seems like a guy who trusts his players preparedness as far as their knowing their assignments and knowing the playbook and for those guys he has trust in, if they are in this kind of situation where its a minor injury, he just gives them adequate heal time.
Its why he isnt sweating the fact that Pouncey isnt on the field already. Some guys you have to worry about , some ya don’t. Some could sit out until the first snap of the season or possible a few games into and still not miss a beat when they finally got it. Gotta judge if you should be worried, by the player. I think id be really worried if it was Larsen, Asiata, etc. Asiata, because he is a rookie and probably needs every minute/second he can get out there, and Larsen becase he is transitioning to our new system and might be relied on to hit the ground running.
Yeah Tim, i still feel our LB depth is limited, not that we dont have solid players as depth players but the dont have flexibility to sub them in and for uptempo situations be able to shift them around. Hewitt does to some extent, Hull to even lesser extent, Misi is probably as flexible as Hewitt but on the opposite side (ie Hewitt as WLB with some SLB ability, and Misi as a SLB with some MLB ability). Hull seems pretty limited to being a MLB. I dont know about some of these other guys fighting for backup spots, but i have a feeling position flexibility will heavily factor in with those guys in that group, just so when they sub out for someone they can maintain the defensive shifting necessary for a series or so.
Im pretty certain too if they are confidant in Howard being able to lock down any/most receivers they will probably have him shadow the primary receiver, and run out of cover 1 with Allen helping out over the top with the other boundary CB. If they they get Lippett or Maxwell to respond stepping up their game to a similar level they wouldn’t even have to worry about moving someone around and they could just give support to whichever side the primary receiver is on, which would be better overall. Cover 1 would be best for us so we could utilize Jones to his best, which is like a Swiss army knife, letting him confuse the offense by not knowing if he might play man, drop into a zone, blitz, or just spy, etc. It would make it very hard to prepare for him if he wasn’t ever lining up in cover two, or at least we were more predominantly running cover 1.
Meant to mention earlier, but forgot . . . Former #2 pick 1st RD, Greg Robinson, was traded by the Rams to the Lions for a 2018 6th RD pick. I thought he was going to be a beast. He was a great run blocker, who apparently couldn’t figure out how to pass block, and then lost confidence completely.

The Rams really sucked running the ball last year too. I have Gurley on my FF team and he was nothing special last season. Probably had a lot to do with their QB situation and passing game though.

Tim, despite popular opinion there are teams with worst draft patterns. Bills last few OL draftees 3rd round OG John Miller, 2nd Round OT Cyrus Kuondjio, 5th round OG Cyril Richardson, 7th round OT Sentrel Henderson. Only Cordy Glenn and Andy Levitre has really worked out for them and you can go WAY back with only those two being the only decent to good OL picks.
Ha! Their best OL is our despicable bully who couldn’t possibly be welcome on any NFL team. What a witch hunt that was.
I mean i think the dude is a tool but he is a good player, as OG’s go he is the kind i normally like just a big old nasty spirited brute force fatty.

Rams were playing Robinson out of position for several years, intentionally not because he sucked at LT and couldn’t win the job. I mean i know we did same with Tunsil and it worked out as best we can tell, but i just cant see doing that with a 1st round pick, seems like asking for trouble,
LG then RT, so i guess they did try him at OT. I never liked the guy personally, i wasnt one of the ones pulling for us to get him or sad we didnt have a shot at him. I wanted James the whole way.
Mike, right after Matzahball Horowitz, easily the best name ever in a NFL draft.
D, as far as LB in the Wide 9, not counting the Joker edge OLB at times, all 3 LBs play in between the ends (in the box) so I don’t really think it’s a big deal to line up anywhere for any of our LBs. In traditional 4-3 formations it’s different. That’s when I think we’ll see more definitive positions. The Wide 9 is an aggressive style of defense where a traditional 4-3 could be more vanilla keep everything in front of you type system.
I was more talking about the wide 9 i was talking about, and it would make our LB’s more specific for the function of that scheme. The formation you showed earlier, yeah the LB’s are ok for that, although i dont think Hull or Misi, and i doubt Timmons is at his best in coverage. Hewitt also not great at it. He is athletic enough but didnt show good instincts for it.
I really think though with the guys we brought in, that Leo formation, is a much better fit for us. I really like that Bear nickle package too, it would deadly as hell with both Wake and Harris in there.
Mike you know another player im just never going to forget, Gabe Jackson….. if i remember correctly my mock that year was James, Dante Moncrief, and Jackson. We did wind up going OL, WR, OL, and while i might still think i wish we had gotten Jackson, we did wind up with a making the right choice at receiver and we would have had to take Jackson there to have gotten him anyways.
Tim – The name Mike Williams is mildly cursed in the NFL. It has about a 50% bust rate. I would change my name.

D, I think having Jones back, we’re going to center some stuff around what he can do in the back end like you said. I’m not concerned where the LBs lineup as long as we don’t lose half of them by midseason.
Harris, Jones and Tiimmons can change this defense. I also think Hayes is an under the radar guy. Our secondary is very young at corner but we’ve been rebuilding that the last 3 years even under Hickey – Delmas, McCain and Lippett, Grier – Maxwell, Abdul-Quddus, Howard, Lucas, Allen, McDonald, Tankersley.

Since we’re in the doldrums for a few weeks, i thought of posing a question here that came up in another blog i read (non-football) (I know, why read about anything but football? right?)

On this blog it might be easier (because of the Fest) to work backwards.
For example: No one has ever met me. Let’s start with that.

Speaking for me… no, I’ve not met anyone from either blog face-to-face. I’ve got a VERY hectic schedule with all that I do, but I WILL be attending a Fest one day soon. I look forward to meeting the many faces we’ve all communicated with over the years… some for over a decade now!
I believe that Stanger and jetssuck have met, but I can’t say that for sure.
Ocala Howie and Jahndoh made ‘first contact’ with me back in 2006. Possibly a few others who went by a different handle back then, but I’ve ALWAYS been Marinofan13 since day 1.

The genius of belicheat is that he can plug anyone in the roster in to starting line and get close to the same results. I think Gase has some of that. Injuries happen. Good teams, playoff teams, deal with it better than others.
And it is more than just about depth Boulder…..there is also game planning about who you got. How many times has the end of the season been when Gronk went down, and then they just find another way? Agree Gase has that in him as well. One year as head coach and he is still in his thirties……..

you know they have a app now a days called facetime. All the hippsters are doing it now-a-days. I always thought of you as the tech guru. Just ask a 10 yr kid how to do it. If you have blue tooth the phones look like they are kissing when these kids transfer me the newest good apps. It’s all new era I’m still trying to figure out the directv remote in almost 2 yrs. We decided to leave directv when contract is up in 1.5 months and cut the cord. No more 300 dollar monthly bills to watch basically 10-12 channels. Our Nephew hooked us up with Plex and we have access to hundreds of movies including movies that are still in the movie theatres and shows. Going with air antenna for local channels which I tested and we pick up 70 channels plus we are getting sling $20 dollar plan. In addition to all this entertainment we are getting the latest roku $90 on amazon with over 3600 channels. Roku is giving 2 months free of HBO with purchase.
good info … i m contemplating going with sling and the airwaves soon myself. Just can’t afford to lose any Dolphins games. I have not investigated Plex.

I would be very shocked to think that jetssuck and stanger are the same person. I also do not think anyone currently on here is using two or more screen names. (Unless jetssuck is also Home).
I know that Tim Knight’s screen name has evolved since 2008, but he’s always only used one at a time that I know of.

Bat is a cool dude…..so yeah he’s done Fest. All the rest of them are posted on the Wanted list. You talked about coming last year and assume Naples is where you live. Special feeling. And Manitoba will be there from — well — Manitoba.
There is no chance for me this year, but a slim chance in the Super Bowl Year (2018).
Whichever Fest and whatever chance to come to it, night before, tailgate and good folks will always be there for you. And not like you can’t buy tickets as you walk into the stadium. So any time you are ready it can be a night before the game move.
remember the days when we only had 4-5 channels? now one can have thousands available. If I was a career counselor for kids now a days I would tell them this is the field to be in. Look at the credits for each show and you could easily see hundreds for 1 show, now imagine 5-6000 channels of programming 24 hours a day.
I often wonder how any movie makes money when i see those looonngg credit lists, especially if there’s a lot of special effects. Or maybe those CGI ppl are all like 8th grade nerds making $1000 for some code per flick.

I have only met Rhino who is a really really great man and has a wonderful family. Met him, his wife and daughters in Houston when we played there a couple years ago (disaster of a game). I’ve heard of Sling but I’m not familiar with it. I just checked out the link you provided and it looks like a good deal… so long as you have unlimited internet. If you access the internet through a data plan (like through your cell phone or satellite, for example), it’ll eat all your data up almost overnight. It also appears that you need a subscription for Sling (monthly fee).
Something else to consider is https://kodi.tv/ … Prof Lou introduced this to me, it’s great, and there’s no monthly fee. Again, you’ve got to have unlimited internet for this or it’ll eat all your data up almost overnight. Click on the link and check it out.
I’d say that Sling looks far more user-friendly than Kodi, but if you’re out to save some $$$ and don’t mind setting it up on your computer (you can connect your computer to your TV, if you didn’t already know), I’d go with Kodi. But if you’re the type who gets really frustrated with computers and modern technology, I’d go with Sling.
Both options look like winners to me if you’re out to cut the cord, so I don’t think you can go wrong. Do your due diligence on both and go with the one you feel most comfortable with, of course.

Just for $#!ts and giggles, I wanted to see what some of us were doing on this day years ago on the Sun-Sentinel blogs. Welp, it’s all gone now. Our ‘Mother Land’ — where most of us first met — has been wiped clean as far as I can see.
It’s actually saddening to me being some of our most epic moments can no longer be retrieved. It was always a fun ‘go-to’ to bring us back to where we came from… and to me, that’s always important. Additionally, I feel that it’s always served to bring us back together whenever there was a fight among fellow bloggers… a ‘peace-maker/reminder’, if you will.

Thanks, yeah we had a great time. Rented a car the first week and went all over the country, then the 2nd week we went on a cruise.
Man what a trip. My mental picture of of heaven is a Greek island.
Walker, Capt Stubbs and I were the first ones to meet. It was shortly after Jim Mandich died because Stubbs insisted we drink “green lizards” in honor of him. It was before the first fest game against Washington.
We met at a Millers Ale House not too far from where I live as it turned out Stubbs is North of me and Walker is equally as far south of me leaving me right in between them. Both are good guys we had a great time. Putting faces to names they never look like what you think they will but you soon realize it’s the same person you knew already.

Never know a persons looks to be the ultimate disappointment that i have found when i have found disappointment in others. Always seems to be integrity, that really sinks a person with me, or maybe conceitedness. I think looks in the world of cyberspace might initially kinda be an adjustment, as a better description than disappointment. People do build up others, through their personalities to look a certain way to to be a certain personality in real life, and those can not always be exactly as expected. Overall, though, i don’t think anyone of us here would be put off completely by the other person not living up to what we “thought” they would look or act like, unless the actions were in direct opposition to the good we thought we saw in them online.

Both are good guys we had a great time. Putting faces to names they never look like what you think they will but you soon realize it’s the same person you knew already.

Can be, and it can be the opposite, and you never really see them the same after. Looks generally are off, because online personalities make people seem different, and the little tid bits you get from one persons admissions online kind of flow into the picture that people have. I dont know that i have ever met anyone from online friend groups that ever 100% matched the picture in my head, and sometimes its been for the better. Like a for example from my life, I have had some really dweeby picture of people in my head and find out they were these social savants, very hip, had a social lives (admittedly i usually got the lack of social life vibe from gamer buddies), etc.
Again, you just gotta keep in mind people can be “versions” of themselves sometimes, so somewhat different but mostly just exactly what you expected, others are completely genuine to who they are and they pretty much at least match the personality of the person you met online, and others are completely deceitful, no matter if its for their protection or just to embellish who they really are, and they can be night and day different (good or bad).

Stanger, I actually found something online (completely by accident) that explained a lot of my internal beliefs, and ill share the link with you, not just because it explains a little about me but also the way that tis guy explains it and shows the reason i feel some of these beliefs are important, really are driven home by his comments. Just to be clear, i didnt get these beliefs from watching this, i only found this recently, but in someways it did validate in me, that im on the right track, though maybe light years behind where this guy is, and it also made me see some of the gaps in my thinking about this and where i might need to do a better job, to really live up to these ideals so that they can be seen as clearly in me as they are in him.
This is very long(1hr15mins or so), so its probably not something you want to attempt at home, or in parts, but again, very inspirational imo.
D — while have not watched the lecture or read the book on it, am familiar based on the press they got at the time. Brave man with some real good advice.
