The season finally begins for the Miami Dolphins! No need to explain why, we all know about Hurricane Irma, and what she did to FLA, and pertaining to football, what she did to the Dolphins and the schedule. So here comes GAME 1, and we’re already in LA, as the Dolphins traveled out a few days ago to get out away from Irma, and now start practicing for their 1st game of the season.
The Chargers gave the Broncos a good fight on MNF, coming all the way down to the last few seconds of the game, when Chargers kicker Younghoe Koo lined up for a game tying 44 yard FG, which the Broncos blocked in order to preserve the victory. The Broncos stuck to the ground game against the Chargers, with a combination of C.J. Anderson and former Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles. Denver rushed a total of 36 times, Anderson 20, Charles 10 and QB Trevor Semian 6, for a grand total of 140 yards, and QB Trevor Semian had the only rushing TD for DEN.
Although the Chargers didn’t run that much against the Broncos, if they have success against our front 7, I think they will continue to pound the ball on us with a combination of RB Melvin Gordon and Brandon Oliver. The Chargers only ran 22 times against DEN, but Rivers had success through the air, throwing 3 TD’s and completing 22 of 33 attempts for 192 yards. Of course being down 24-7 in the 3rd quarter changes your gameplan, so even if they wanted to run, they needed to throw to catch up.
The Dolphins O-line will be tested against these Chargers. The Chargers front 7 is stocked with talent. 2nd year DE Joey Bosa brings the heat from the Left side (Like Cam Wake), and DT’s Corey Liuget and Brandon Mebane are stout interior defenders along with another good pass rusher, DE Melvin Ingram. Ingram also moves to OLB, and that versatility makes him worth that much more. Dolphins need to know where Ingram is all the time.
The Dolphins will be starting 2nd year OL Laremy Tunsil at LT, with veteran Anthony Steen next to him at LG. All Pro Mike Pouncey will start at C, with veteran RG Jermon Bushrod next to him. RT Ja’Wuan James is the other bookend. This line will have it’s hands full with the Chargers D-line, especially Bosa, who will be a serious challenge to start the season for Ja’Wuan James.
The Dolphins have to get the J-Train rolling, and keep it rolling. We all have visions of Jay Cutler throwing rainbows all over the field to Parker, Stills and Grant, because he can, but if the Dolphins are going to be successful in 2017, the J-train will once again be the key. Cutler will challenge defenses deep, and that’s great, but let’s keep that in check, and let the J-train tire out the defense, give us the edge in T.O.P, and keep the defense rested. We know Ajayi gets tons of yards after contact, but it would be great if that contact wasn’t 2 yards in the backfield, and maybe 5 yards upfield. I expect this offense will never be built for Jay Cutler to do too much, but rather just enough. Some games we’ll have to lean on him, but that won’t be the plan going in.
With Devante Parker, Kenny Stills, Jarvis Landry, Jakeem Grant, Leonte Carroo, Julius Thomas and Kenyan Drake, there is a plethora of targets for Cutler. He’s got to feel good about that. That being said, let’s hope Cutler doesn’t need to throw the ball 30 times or more. I’d like to see us run the ball 25-30 times, and Cutler have 25 or less pass attempts. Of course the game may dictate otherwise, but that would be ideal in my mind.
On defense, I expect to see a smattering of Rey Maualuga. I think he’ll be out there to start, but there will be plenty of substitutions, with Hull seeing plenty (read majority) of the playing time. Timmons and Alonso will be in the nickel, and probably Alonso in the dime. Can’t wait to see #20 (Reshad Jones) back patrolling the secondary, and I’m also curious to see who starts opposite Xavien Howard at CB. I think we’ll see both Maxwell and Verner, but I think we’d be better served with Maxwell on the perimeter and Verner inside. As for the “battle” on the D-line, it looks like the Dolphins took the safe route, and will have Jordan Phillips line up next to Suh, but Godchaux will see time as well, especially if Phillips isn’t perceived to be giving max effort. That’s something to keep an eye on.
So, Game 1 of 16 in a row starts Sunday at 4:05PM in Los Angeles for our Miami Dolphins. I know I’m amped up, I would imagine you are too.
GO DOLPHINS! Zero in!

I’ve heard from a number of friends it’s a good movie, but it’s not really that scary. I imagine if you are afraid of clowns, it’ll be scary as hell even if it’s not really that scary.
———
Oh, man… that SUCKS to hear it’s not really that scary! I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but I was hoping it would be VERY scary. Clowns have never scared me, but Pennywise creeped me out between his fangs and Tim Curry’s voice.
I don’t know it first hand, and fear tolerance and triggers differs from person to person, so it might be scary to some and not others, but literally everyone I know says it’s a great movie, but they wish it was scarier and had more Pennywise.
I love the story and the TV show, even though it’s campy as hell. Tim Curry was awesome. I can’t wait to see IT. I am waiting for the same reasons you listed above. The theater experience sucks because people are douchebag assholes that can’t stay off their damned phones for the length of a movie. Every time I go, I want to punch somebody.

So I’m here at work, working. A female coworker who is in a different dept/area (meaning I don’t know her all that well) shows up at my door, comes in my office and says’ You look like the type of person who’d have all kinds of different stuff in their desk’. ???? WTF?
She wanted ibuprofen which I had, but a crazy way to start out a question.
She was right though, gotta give her that! lol
Lol, that’s like saying to a robber at least you got away with it initially. What the lady did was out of line, it may have gotten her what she wanted, but not the right way to do it.
Or she could have said you look like the kind of person that has drugs in your desk. Of course HR would be sure to be walking by as she said it
Thats how rumors start. Someone assumes Ross tried to get taxpayer $ for stadium renovations, then it’s called pulling a Ross when another owner does it. Well the league wants the owners to get tax payer $. Ross wanted to pay for it himself, but the league stepped in and said no.
Steve
That was just a horrible analogy man. Wow
I know, but i cant type more than a few lines on my phone. The bottomline is Ross shouldnt be thrown under the bus for this, he should be commended. I’m sure OD won’t, even though the upgrades make his seats shaded.
Oops responded to the wrong post. The Ross stuff anyways.

LOL @ D!
Pouncey is the leader of that unit hands down, and probably one of the most accepted leaders of our team. Its not really a matter of liking him or disliking him as much as thats just how the others around him see him. Gase sees him that way. He talks about Pouncey almost with a level of respect beyond that i have hear him talk about other players with. Obviously the guy is doing something right in the lockeroom to be so well received.
I hear he throws a hell of a party
I havent heard anything in a while about him getting out of line, maybe he has calmed down with all that.

Most impressive nom on this list is Thomas, little man as far as player stature, big man with his peers. Most likely why he is still on the team, good leadership traits to go with position flexibility and ST contributions.

We still dont know what the hell made that come out, his name isnt even close sounds like or spells similarly to Nipples. Maybe its just what he had on his mind at the time lol.

Thomas was a Captain last year. Surprising to me is Stills and not Landry.
Interesting point…
Stills is under contract for the next 4 years. Landry???
He’s also the veteran of the group at the ripe old age of 25.
Jason Cole has said Stills is a favorite of the coaching staff. He is one of the first guys at the facility everyday, practices hard, watches film and basically does everything the right way. He apparently leads by example. According to him it’s one of the primary reasons they gave him his contract

Soooooo gehy
Clowney, Mercilus, McKinley, Cushing and Cunningham
So really good LBs for the Texans
Cushing suspended for 10 games and Clowney is more of a DE.
I know Cushing is out but is Mercilus playing
I don’t see him
If we go with the typical 7 OL in the game it sounds like it will be:
LT Tunsil
LG Steen
C Pouncey
RG Bushrod
RT James
OT Young
G/T Davis
*Steen would move to C if Pouncey went down.
So is this two really good defenses ? Or two bad offenses ?
So far this year both teams don’t look very good in any phase. But that could change.
That is true… Most offences seemed out of sync .. even KC and Detroit took a 1/4 or so to get rolling.
Yes
Howie : 34-27 Fins
So for those who remember my Sunday Ticket concerns, here is how it went down…
On Tuesday we got an email from our cable company that between the National CTV and TSN Feeds if you subscribed to Time Shift option ALL GAMES WOULDBE AVAILABLE
Early Sunday there were 9 games and we had 11 cable feeds.. 5 showed Cleveland/ Piitsburgh , 2 had Atlanta/ Chicago , 2 had Green Bay i think and two had Tennessee/raiders … DAZN , the streaming option for (supposedly) Sunday Ticket had all games available , but it was Game zone, where to switch between games i had to close the feed, lick to new feed, open new feed and wait for it to come into focus, so basically 45 seconds to switch feeds…
For the late games we had i believe 5 feeds on cable showing 2 games .. to watch wifes 9ers play we had to stream the game .. there were times where you could not even see the ball due to buffering, and that was without changing the feed … apparently Twitter was blowing up with US Media laffing at us and our displeasure… NFL sent out a message on Monday saying they are aware and are keeping an eye on how it does/doesnt work…
I did not have a problem paying 50.00 a month to watch the games , why did they decide to fuck with it.. just so millenials can watch on their phones ?? What about the people who dropped shit tons on Large Home Screens ??
I hope this experiment dies a quick miserable death.
I leave for 5 minutes and you turn into D
Lmao.
Haack’s better net average in preseason was not a fluke, he booms his punts high, from Gase.
Theres also that Left footed spin theory as well… will be interesting to watch.
Don’t expect to see much of him in this blowout
I like yer thinking 👍👍
Finally a nice run by Miller… we made the right choice there, no matter how unpopular it was at the time
If I’m a GM I’m taking Ajayi over Miller. Dan Campbell preferred him too. He’s more physical and relentless. Lamar is more speed but if the hole isn’t there you don’t see the speed.
He did have nice dance moves during his indecisiveness behind the LOS … 🤡
And at about 5.5 Mil / yr savings
Hmm, you guys blasted me when i said that last offseason.
Did I really blast you? LOL
Specifically You most likely not. I was referring to the board in general.
Toba, if Ajayi has a big year which we hope he does, he’s not going to play for what he’s currently being paid next year. It’s a good problem to have because you have good players. But you can’t pay everyone. The 2017 season will answer a lot of questions heading into the offseason. Not all of them but a good amount. Let’s hope we can make the playoffs again and anything can happen. We’ll deal with the future in the future. 😉
Go Phins!!!!
Tim : I hope he does earn a large increase this year it means he balled out… this week i believe he has a good game but either Grant or Drake will be a large difference maker
Agreed on Grant and Drake. We have a lot of talent at the skill positions. Deep! We’re not a two or three man band. If the OL can do a solid job, the skill will show itself.
Gase has said he feels the offense has to do a better job helping the defense by being better on offense. It’s a time tested formula. Let’s hope we can do it. 🙂
Nice Punctuation mark by JJ.
Very excited to see what this offence can do even though Cutler was my last choice for starting QB.. i lke the rapport with Parker, and that Gase had the confidence in Cutler to basically hand pick him to run it .. fantasy auto drafts i always moved him to ‘ do not draft status …
Cutler gets a bad rap for all sorts of reasons. The bottom line is he has the skill to play the game at a high level. Many QBs circling throughout the NFL do not. Jay Cutler vs. Josh McNown etc.? LOL
I so hope he’s our Trent Dilfer but better and we have one of those are you kidding me seasons. Why not us?!!! Fuck off!!!! LOL
Him vs Rivers in the past have had some very humorous exchanges … edge goes to Rivers though for composure in the exchanges.. but i will be pulling for a ball out season by Cutler
Tim : hindsight on Miller is 20/20 😎
Totally and I like Miller. The investment so far for the Texans is not up to par though. It’s just not.
He had a decent season for Texans last year , and he did carry the load for them, but Ajayi did out rush him in less games played so it’s a win for Fins
Miller had 1 TD and too many ho-hum games. At this time do you take Ajayi, Miller or Anderson? 🙂
100% J Train
Tim
I’m in GDP’s pick em league……other than that, haven’t seen him here.
He’s okay though?
I guess…… I’ll throw a line out

Some on this site still don’t understand WHY ANYONE would not have a glowing opinion of Steve Ross’s tenure as principal owner. Will here’s one reason I believe ALL OF YOU will understand: during the Ross years (2009-2016) the Dolphins’ W-L record is 59-70. Now that might be OK for some people but it’s NOT OK with me. Hopefully, Gase will continue to lead this team in the right direction. Hopefully, the Fins have an outstanding “BYE-LESS” season. And hopefully this time next year I’ll be saying “That man (Ross) is a football winner.” BUT, like everyone else, he’s got to “SHOW ME.” And I hope he does.

HOWIE — HOWIE !!!

Chargers have lost 9 out of their last 10 games decided by 7 points or less. Make that 10 out of 11.
Name one person on here that feels that way about Ross? We’ve all had issues with some of the things he’s done, you on the other hand seem to dislike him more for the off-field issues.
OD
Ross clearly wants the best for this team. He does a lot for the community, he’s willing to pay whatever he has to improve the team. You don’t have to have a “glowing” opinion of him, but I don’t get the hate. I just don’t. You’re quite entitled to your own opinion as a long time fan and season ticket holder, but I’m surprised you don’t see how hard Ross tries to make this team better. We could have lot worse here, believe me. Look around the NFL, there are only a handful of great owners.

Tim, Ajayi is only in his third year, he’s still under contract through 2018, if Landry is playing through his 4 year rookie contract, what makes you Ajayi wont?
I was reading another Dolphins fan site, article was about one of the Chargers defensive players when asked what things they have to worry about against Jay Cutler, and the guy replies “none”. In the article, the writer states how Cutler had some of his best years with Gase, and how he hopes Cutler can continue that. Cutler only played ONE year with Gase. If we make mistakes like that, please bring it to our attention. Thank you!
I saw an article by a non dolphins reporter that slammed Cutler for the same remark, indicating that Ingram pwned Cutler with that one simple reply. Really dumb spin on a statement that neither proves or disproves anything. It can get filed under “what did you expect him to say” category to me.
Totally agreed. The article was all about nothing. Just pointing out the egregious error of saying Cutler had some good years with Gase. That’s a bad mistake IMO
Steve, Thomas was impressive to me because he is a limited role player, not a guy who is on the field with the team a lot and yet still commands the respect of teammates as you would generally expect a starter would. That list is comprised mostly of the more dominant contributors to the team on offense or defense, Thomas was the one exception, which is another reason I think it is impressive.
You do realize Thomas is the STs captain right? So what you defined was a STs player, so my point was he’s typical of a ST captain, no surprise.
what a boring to the nfl season so far. All the games have been snoozers. That game last night was pretty bad.
Two teams playing way worse than they should. I’ll give Houston the advantage there because they have a little more excuse for it.

D,
I’m not just talking about last night. Even over the weekend it was snooze fest. I really didn’t get excited during any of the games. Maybe its because the phins didn’t play.
I was excited about the packers/seattle game but it was snooze fest as well.
The Chiefs vs Patriots game was fun to watch last week 🙂
Given how many youngsters we have this surprised me, but guess it is due to the stop-gap signings. Am laughing at 29 as “older” though.
“The Miami Dolphins will put the oldest defense in the NFL on the field this Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers….Some of the older players on Miami’s defense are: Wake (35), Williams Hayes (32), Lawrence Timmons (31), Rey Maualuga (30), Ndamukong Suh (30), Nate Allen (29), Reshad Jones (29) and Byron Maxwell (29).”
I don’t think Maualuga is going to suit up. He hasn’t practiced, has a hamstring strain. I get your point though, we do have some age, and that’s an area we need to address in the draft
they forgot cutler and moore.

What did you think of the Serpentwar Saga? I’m on book 3, and it’s kinda getting on my nerves
I should’ve bet on last night’s game. Someone asked me, if it was on regular tv. I said I didn’t know, but it will be a stinker, low scoring, boring.
JS, why don’t you find something to do instead of tracking/analyzing what people post or the number of words they use. I’m glad to have D back here posting and ridiculous things like you are bringing up only tends to drive people away. If you don’t want to read the whole thing then don’t. It’s not up to you to tell anyone how long a post can be.

So the Chargers dont have anything to worry about with Cutler. I’m glad they feel that way. The followup question after the game should be in hindsight what would you have done differently, to prepare, knowing what you now know?
When cutler played the chargers with gase as his coordinator he played pretty well. That said I think SD has a heck of a defensive front.
I think he was being nice.

Ranking Dolphins QBs since Dan Marino: 18 years, 18 quarterbacks http://dlvr.it/PnDGN5
If RT was playing this year, this might have some meaning, but now it’s just past history. Not sure why a beat writer would put out a story like that during the season.
Look, he can say he was joking all he wants. He’s caused issues before with accusations against some folks here so not like I’m just going off out of nowhere.
I know M brought it up a day or so ago, but make sure you either watch or record Dan Marino : A Football Life tonight at 9PM, NFL Network
It should be NICE!!!
I was reading about it, and the producer was lamenting how much material he had to leave out to make it fit into a 46 minute program. That’s a shame, they should let them make it as long as it needs to be. They have so much duplication on that channel anyway, there shouldn’t be a problem squeezing in a 2 hour slot, instead of 46 minutes.
Agreed, Mike E.
I think the chargers are gonna try and run the ball. That’s what I saw against denver. Lynn was the RB coach with the bills and running the ball was one of the reasons the chargers hired him as HC. Our run defense needs to step up. I’m glad we got jones back.

LOL @ SB
Ya know, it’s really difficult to fathom that none of Marino’s WRs have ever made the HOF. Montana had Rice, Manning had Harrison, Aikman had Irvin, Kelly had Reed, Bradshaw had Stallworth, etc, etc.
Perhaps it’s more telling about how great Marino was… without the aid of a HOF WR like so many others.
When you’re in and winning multiple SBs then people tend to notice you more. I don’t see the difficulty
Ah, but Griese had a great running game in Csonka and Morris, a great WR in Warfield, and the famed ‘No-Name Defense’.
Marino had none of the above.
Charlie Joiner got in, but SD wasn’t winning SB’s either.

Indeed… as was the case with Tim Brown, James Lofton, Chris Carter, Andre Reed, and Steve Largent.
Andre Reed was in 4 straight SB’s. That’s still an amazing feat when I think about it. Crazy even.
Interesting. They tried it last year and then pulled back from it. Maybe it suits Cutler better.

We’ll probably huddle every down and run the ball 40 times. lol
Good to see Naples back on. Sounds like things are a mess down his way but most important thing is that he is okay.
Thanks, it hasn’t rained today, so that helps.
The Keys are truly horrible though. They are worse off than we are.

I’ve tracking your comments the last week and it seems u start with short comments in the morning and proceed to the encyclopedia length later. Juswt why is that.coffee ,speed, brain is more alert, your cognitive reasoning doesn’t wake up until the afternoon.
———————————————-
Possibly a combination of all of that lo, but most likely its just a matter of being extremely busy at work every morning, and even though i do big posts in rapid succession in the afternoon i have more gaps between stuff to do then
Maybe yall get more interesting with your posts later in the day which gives me more food for thought too……
Marino didn’t have a csonka but he was surrounded by talent. We can stop pretending he was surrounded by scrubs. It’s neither here or there because griese has nothing to do with the post I responded to which was about all the hall of fame QBs and their wrs.
They didnt have much balance to their offense though, it made it easier to predict what the game plan would be. They never had an established run game, just spurts of time with one that was above average.
I agree he had two great WR’s that he had great chemistry with one that was a second year player when he got there and the other that was brought in the same year as him. They werent pure talent players like Rice, Duper was a 2nd round pick, Clayton would have been a priority UDFA if his draft had been done now (8th round selection). I think that’s why people always reference the talent around him and say Marino elevated their level instead of vice versa.
He also had a span of time where his OL was pretty good, though a lot of footage will show you that he spent a lot of time with players that only looked good because of his quick release, as Danny got slapped around quite a bit and just made remarkable throws at the last second.
I mean i know you are yanking chains but i really do think that Marino was never in a position with a strong team around him, not nearly as strong as i have seen around some of our more recent stand ins.
I strongly believe that if Marino had played the majority of his career with a back like Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown of Jay Ajayi, he would easily have had a couple of rings much better stats (so would have the RB’s i mentioned) and probably a longer life in the NFL.
There ya go Jets, my brain is awake now.
D:
Good to see you on here as well. Ignore the background noise
Yeah I tried to make it clear on that.
I don’t think he took offense to the JS post, but when Herd speaks, you better listen, so JS…
🐖
Herd put him on double secret probation, so the rest of us can enjoy the board, He’s been treading Home waters lately😁
Yeah, post length is something i open myself up for so its not something i sweat, besides i was assuming he was joking about it. There definitely have been things in the past that made me feel less than appreciated but im trying to avoid those by not getting into conflict oriented posts, i almost slid into one the other day about Tanny, but that was my fault so i when it started heading that way i was only made at myself for starting it.
You are entitled to your opinion and you should feel free to post about it. Even if I think you are dead wrong. JKLOL
But don’t talk about pork unless you are singing the praises of porkkind

Just use Mike as an example 😉

Would anyone here be opposed to articles that were written not about football, or would anyone be opposed to having a second blog that was part of this community that didn’t have anything to do with football? I never really feel like creating articles about football, i like to discuss it more fluidly, chaining off whatever is being currently discussed in the blog, but i do have philosophical discussion type things i wouldn’t mind submitting
If not i can always create my own blog and just invite others here that are interested. I know the admins have a hard enough time with what they are managing now, so its just a question to see if here would be a place for it.
During the season, I think we’ll probably stick to football, but we can definitely do things off topic in the off season
No problems with it from me. I think you’d see football discussed on non football posts just the same as non football things are discussed on any of the blogs.
What subjects do you have in mind?
I’m the same way. I contribute with commentary on topics more than writing articles. We all go off in multiple directions anyway. I always said this blog doesn’t even need an article to get going. Not that I don’t appreciate the articles people put up. 🙂
Never posted a lead either…..but at the same time comments increase when a new one goes up a bunch. We should all be real grateful to the admins that keep this place running.
Haven’t been around a lot in the last year or so, but I gotta say D, I love reading what you have to say about stuff…keep it up.
We all do and most of don’t whine about it🤡

D, for the last time I don’t want to read any blogs about Parcheesi

I think this idea is just asking for trouble… look no further than the F-ME and all that had happened.
I say this to you respectfully because I don’t think people can keep their political/religious opinions to themselves. I’m doing my part to bite my tongue as it is here on a mere football blog.
That’s because everyone did it on the football tab rather than the Social tab. And of course the ad hominem attacks.

I am just randomly replying to push Herd of the page turn. LOL

You know my fat cousin Chicherrones?
Mmmmm……yep.
Even during the season a non football post could work. ‘What’s it gonna be Wednesday?’ or something like that. Monday/Tuesday is game wrap up. Thursday is generally Ask Mike. I’ve always thought Saturday should be draft prospect day since that’s when they are playing. Sunday of course is game day. But just one girls opinion.
So where was Ask Mike this week? 🤔
Oooh I got the page turn. I should buy a lottery ticket or something. Lol

It could work so long as no politics was involved….that one is a bad path. And am talking off-topic articles.
Concurred, Stanger. Keep politics out of it, and it should be all good.
Im not a fan of politics, at least not what currently is going on, i wouldn’t be political, but i also am not shy from controversial subjects, the idea that spurned all of this was something that started off as curiosity about the weight of the human brain, which was a tangent conversation yesterday, but as i was researching it, i uncovered a ton of really need facts which confirmed a lot of philosophies i have always felt to be true but never before had the science to support it.
I had typed out this huge monolithic post a little while ago only to cut it out to another document because it was just too big to be a random post, unrelated to the subject that was being discussed, so i thought maybe a article submission might have been more appropriate.
Part of it may have been too the title i came up for the “series” if it developed into one was “Random thoughts of a D-bag” which i tickled myself coning up with that title lol. I’m fairly self entertaining lol.
D – It’s not like you ran off because someone disagreed with you and then called us all douche bags on twitter.
How’s Key West doing? My buddy can’t even figure out what happened to his house, not that the people there shouldn’t come first.
The Charges have a few LB’s playing out of position in their system or have relatively little experience in that postion in their system. They run a hybrid 3-4 4-3 with a LB called the OTTO which flexes in and out of the responsibilities and position line up of a 3-4 OLB, a 4-3 SOLB and a 4-3 DE. They also run a LEO LB, which is conceptually a wide 9 DE, but can stand up as an OLB giving a more true 3-4 or even a 5-3 look with the OTTO and LEO on the line, both can be hands down and more in toward the tackles, one out wide one in, both out wide, etc.
Seattle has been running a variant of this for a while and i believe they always called the LB’s LEO but they could have two LEO’s in their system and they could bring in a guy to be the second LEO, split a DE out wide and stand them up to man the LEO, or just bring the WILL up and have him take the role of a second LEO.
I was mentioning this stuff back just after draft because i thought with Harris we could run this defense pretty well and we could get more snaps with Harris in there if we did. Especially with McMillian going down, i really think we should consider it, and i think possibly we may even see that or we were going to before McMillian got hurt. The perfect lineup i could see would be DE Wake, NT Phillips, DT Suh, LEO Harris, OTTO Timmons, WILL Alonzo, MIKE Hull/Maualuga. Obviously you rotate Hayes and Branch in mor eon running downs, and you probably switch your D around to be more straight 4-3 when they are in, letting them set the edges, they might even sub in for Wake at DE some while Harris is playing tin the LEO position as well.
In this defense, Timmons would be the OTTO and could be called on to rush the passer, he could be called on to cover, set the edge against the run, etc. There really isnt much of a limit on what his assignment can be and having a vet you has done it all, as well as someone sturdy in the run game would really be an asset in that position.
Since pass rush is almost exclusively what the LEO would do, Harris would be a good guy, because you could get him out wide and use Suh to draw the tackle’s attention making it really hard to choose between single defending Suh gap penetrating between OG and OT and stopping Harris with his fast get off on good speed moves on the outside.
Phillips would be a 1 tech DT/NT in this formation.
Suh would be a 5 tech DT.
Wake, Branch, and Harris could all play the DE or LEO role in these formations, though i would probably only have Hayes play DE. If Wake or Harris were already subbed in when they switch to this formation, they could easily switch to a double LEO, putting both guys out wide.
There are a tons of ways to play off this formation, bringing Jones in like Nickle LB and bringing Alonzo up as the second LEO, Wake in as DE, Harris as the other LEO, then you have a better coverage set with the same look, etc.
Herd, that might work, its just some think of this as a football blog so i dont wanna mess with that if its not something people want to read.
The RT discussion is a valid one. Speculation, but that is what fans do.
So let’s say the Fins’ go deep into the play-offs or…dare I say it…to the Super Bowl with Cutler. How do you not bring him back? So the question becomes, do you try to work deals with both Cutler and RT, trade RT (because you could get a high pick for him) and draft the future, let Cutler walk and go with RT?
Figure you have 3-5 years if you go with Cutler (more to the 3 end) and 7-10 with RT. I think Cutler is, and would continue, playing for pride not money and would probably come as a bargain. If he plays well this year, they have leverage over RT to re-work his contract, so they could keep both. Depends on whether their egos would fit.

To me Politics cant be discussed because you cannot tell me one terd is better than another….even if you think one is because it has peanuts or corn. Shit is shit and right now there is nothing good to discuss on that subject.
Religon is a personal thing in my opinion, its a relationship like any other that understood by the people involved in it and everyone has their reasons for why they are in the relationship they are in. No more can you walk up to a man and ask him why he is with “that bitch” or woman that, “that asshole”, can you tell a man or woman what their relationship with God or belief that there is no god can be, because these are very close relationships and no matter if they are driven by blindness in your opinion they are diver by love in the other person opinion. Therefore to me is not debatable, there is only understanding from the other sides perspective that can be obtained by discussion, not debate.
^^^
And with that stated, I like your ‘side-blog’ idea, my friend.
I wonder what you would like to make your ‘side-blog’ about?
Stanger – We are moving towards getting our folks back in to re-constitute the checkpoint and re-open the airport. However, they are not allowing residents of anything below Islamorada in yet. They are discussing it. Key West, Stock Island and Boca Chica came through pretty well, but the rest of the keys below the seven mile bridge were hammered. Especially Big Pine and Cudjoe.
Really suck for people down there. Most of them haven’t worked for a week or more and even after they are allowed to return, there is not going to be much work for awhile. We have continued to pay our employees a full check and will look to hire a few more when we get back in.Seemed right thing to do.
Thanks — fauxUKPhin obviously knows better than me in general, but any tips on how to figure out what happened to his house? He tried to get down to board up, but the evacuation stopped him.

What happened at the old blog had nothing to do with a non football related post as you well know. You need to stop with mentioning it here. I’m short on patience today and don’t have a filter. Drop it.
Uh oh….M13 just went on double secret, not so secret probation.
Lol. No, but I keep seeing him alluding to things there and it’s best to not have it brought up here. Simple as that.
