This is the last look at free agent offensive linemen. We’ve already covered the tackles and the guards, and now it’s time to look at the centers. This may be an exercise in futility, i get that, but there is always the possibility that we actually move on from C Mike Pouncey, whether it’s due to injury, salary, or a combination of both. So many fans are freaking out because we’re over the cap by $19M, and Mike Pouncey counts $9M against the cap, but this year his dead cap hit is only $2M, so releasing Pouncey for financial reasons is feasible. Can we replace him? I’m here to take a look at whether we can.
Ryan Jensen 6’3 310 26YO

Jensen started all 16 games last season for the Baltimore Ravens. He was drafted by the ravens in the 6th RD of the 2013 draft. He played some at LG and RG before finally becoming the Ravens center last season. He didn’t participate at the combine, but just to compare since the combine is all the rage right now, at his Colorado pro day, Jensen ran a 5.28 40, an 8’2′ broad jump, 25 1/2″ vertical, and put up 30 reps of 225lbs. Once again, I invoke the sentiment that if he can play for the Ravens, he can play for us. Spotrac projects Jensen to be worth around $9M per, so we would have to make his 1st year contract a cap friendly one, which isn’t difficult when you’re doing a long term deal.
**********************************************************************************
Weston Richburg 6’3 298 26YO

Weston Richburg was drafted in the 2nd RD by the Giants in the 2014 NFL draft. He started 47 of 48 games his first 3 seasons with the Giants. In 2017, Westburg suffered a concussion on Oct 1, (Game 4) and his slow recovery forced the Giants to put him on IR, ending his season. Richburg was a solid, if unspectacular starter for the Giants. The fact that they IRed him in his money year showed they didn’t really have any intention of re-signing him. He’s a young, average to above average NFL center. Missing 12 games in his final year before FA will hurt him salary wise, but how much, I don’t know.
***********************************************************************************
Russell Bodine 6’3 310 25YO

Now here’s a guy we should be interested in. Only 25 years old, he has started every single game in his 4 years in the NFL with the Bengals. His combine numbers were pretty impressive. 5.18 40, 42 reps of 225lbs, 29; vertical (both his bench press and vertical were tops). Bodine is a powerful guy who moves people and plays with a mean streak. He sounds like a perfect candidate here, but I have no idea what kind of salary he will be looking for.
************************************************************************************
Brian Schwenke 6’3 314 27YO

I remember watching Schwenke in the Senior Bowl back in 2013 and being impressed by the kid. Stout powerful, with a chip on his shoulder, he did really in the drills, especially the mano a mano drills. He was drafted in the 4th RD in ’13 by the Titans, but his career never really took off there, starting only 30 games over 5 years. If you go by his combine numbers, he matches up pretty well, running a 4.99 40, putting up 31 reps, running a 7’31 cone drill, but all that hasn’t translated into NFL success. He would be an inexpensive pickup, but to expect him to play up to even an injured 80% Mike Pouncey level of play would be unlikely.
**************************************************************************************
Travis Swanson 6’5 312 27YO

So we want to replace one puff pastry with another? Travis Swanson seems to me like Mike Pouncey light (very light!). Just about the same size as Pouncey, Swanson is a finesse player, but was also a 2 time captain at Arkansas. Swanson has 42 starts over 4 years for the Detroit Lions, last year starting and playing in only 11 games. He was put on IR for the 2nd time in 2 years due to concussion issues. It’s been heavily rumored we have interest in Swanson, but I don’t get it. Didn’t we learn from Jordan Cameron? Should we replace our C with gossamer hips for a C with scattered grey matter? I’ll take a pass on that one, thank you! LOL – Is it me, or does Swanson even look like he’s trying to figure out what it is he’s doing on the field?
***********************************************************************************
So this completes the O-line folks. If you have any suggestions of guys I may have missed, feel free to mention them on the blog.

Now if we could just trade Tannehill, things could get really good.
Also if I take an anvil and drop it on my head – it will be delightful
Y’all better understand shit about to get SERIOUS… ON MY MAMA
Well if that was anything close to fucking English we might understand it…….
WTF does that mean??????
That means he’s about to get PAID! That’s his goal, and he may have just reached it. That’s my interpretation
who is on his mama? wasn’t shit serious before? who is y’all?
My Dad and the mail man were the only ones that I know of that got SERIOUS ON MY MAMA 🙂
Any more first round busts out there we could trade draft capital for?

Now we purge again because our punk coach can’t get his bullshit message to elite talent.
Fuck em all
I think everyone needs to calm down and see how free agency and the draft play out before we cast a shadow on the season.
Who are you ? And what did you do with Lou ??
Right?
I’m smashing Dolphin stuff one by one.
I fired 7 Dolphins glasses at the back fence so far
Beheaded the stupid Dolphin gnome
Ripped the arms off that stupid Fox robot fucking thing in it’s Dolphin colors
Well, that sucks.
At least we have a little more cap room……
Fox robot fucking thing??????………
Do tell more.
It’s a GI Joe sized action figure of the robot you see on Fox football broadcasts when they go in and out of commercials

That was gratifying and fun too
Has the patio survived ??

I really hope at least ONE of these picks is this year
Looks like one is the #65 this year. first pick in 3rd rd
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter
Neither of the picks in Jarvis Landry trade are a first- or second-round picks, per sources. So it will be two picks between rounds 3 and 7.
4:50 PM – Mar 9, 2018
What Up Toba ? How’s Vacation going ?
Hot and drunk. Somebody ordered two extra Mexican coffees when I was in line for Abeer…. These things kicked my ass
Nothing for something AGAIN
https://twitter.com/allbrightnfl/status/972228347949404160?s=21
Getting under the cap isn’t such a big problem any more. And if you think about it, better they franchised Landry than not doing it at all. Whatever the picks are come from doing that if he was not willing to take the club’s offer.
Total shit trade. No value if what Stanger posted is right
I thought we might get a high 2nd. If we get R3P1 plus something else…..not complaining about the value at least.
That is not good value for one of the leading WRs in the league
But he was franchised for one year and top dollar for what would say is more than he was worth. Will be interesting to see what his contract with the Browns is worth.
I guess better than nothing….
Would have been better to 16 million for one more year
Landry is a good player but we were never going to get high picks back for him. Looks like this front office really didn’t want him
Honestly, I never thought we would do better than a late 2nd, so the first pick of the 3rd isn’t too far off. I guess…
CAAAAARRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! Time to step up.
Time for us to get a TE in here. Carroooo don’t play slot.
Sorry Piggy I had to share!
We draft a guy who proceeds to do something NO OTHER receiver has done in the history of the league but because we’re soooo successful we don’t want/need him.
But joyously commit to an average QB (at best) who hasn’t played since 2016
It blows my mind. I expect Cleveland to sneak into the playoffs as we find a way to lose to the Bills another couple of times.
Oh no doubt.
Average another 17 points a game because their plan is coming together so nicely
Well it’s not good compensation
I think you can argue that it’s decent compensation
But that’s the ceiling – decent
If the player we draft is another day 2 disappointment as opposed to Landry who was the pinnacle Of our day 2 successes – the trade is horrible
We gave up our best day 2 pick in years, maybe decades
For another day 2 pick
And of the past is any gage for how we do with those picks
Then we
Just threw Landry away for a player who doesn’t last a couple of years
http://dailydolphin.blog.palmbeachpost.com/2018/03/09/jarvis-landry-trade-miami-dolphins-make-all-time-franchise-mistake/
I can’t really disagree. Sure, slot receivers are the red headed step child but I don’t know anyone that was more invested in us winning, and that includes Ross. I’ll miss that fucker as we continue to hope Parker can morph into something more than a bust. Maybe we can draft another garbage tier TE in the third and hope he pulls in half the yards.
I really like Landry, but if the reports were right that he turned down long-term at $13 mil per…..not putting it on the front office either.
They were never going to commit to him. That’s the reality. And it’s because they’re so smart.
They could have offered more guaranteed money. They could have paid Devante Adams money. Landry is better than Adams
Just to put this out there. At this catch rate, Landry would have been the most productive WR(by catches) in Dolphin history…halfway through his 6th season. History changing WR doesn’t even get a second deal…but we extended an average LB and DE with great success last year.
Yup
Ok locker room we got rid of our best back last year and now we let the most productive player we have go so we really think we’re getting better and heading in the right direction. Hold your heads up fellas we got this.
Omar doesn’t like it!
Must have been a good move? 😉
lol. letting Jimmy Wilson walk is #2 on his list.
Is it really? (I refuse to ever read his crap)
That is frickin hilarious
Garrard!
2. Wilson 3. Bess 4. Nanee
And such is why I don’t read his crap. Lol
Why is it every coach we get is “so got damned smart”, the smartest guy out there, smart smart smart…
Then they come here and all they do is STUPID shit
If we get pick #65 this year for Landry and maybe a 4th next year I guess is decent. We probably would have only gotten 1 pick in the end of the 3rd round next year as a comp pick if we had let him walk. I hate loosing him but he has $$ on the brain and kind of pissed at him for turning down our offer which I believe was fair.
What I don’t understand is why not try to package Suh in that deal for another pick(s) instead of just cutting him. Cleveland would have been stupid for turning that down (getting Suh for the next 2 years for about 19 mil). I think his contract is longer than that but you get the picture.
Damn, y’all need to take the razors off your wrists.
I liked Landry too, but Landry wanted too much money. And the team is not going to be any worse without him. I challenge you to show a single game that Landry won for Miami. He is not a game changer. Nice player, but just catching a franchise record of short passes doesn’t win games. They were 6 and fucking 10. His production will be replaced by spreading the ball around more.
I don’t think they will do anything with Suh short of someone offering a 1st round pick for him. They can clear more cap other ways that are easier.
Week 1 2015…..punt ret TD
That’s all I got
A 2nd would have been nice, but it was unlikely from the get go. What they got was pretty good.
well, Browns just sent the #65 to the Bills for Tyrod Taylor
Thank goodness. He won’t embarrass Miami anymore.
Just thought the same thing!
Are we sure Miami is even getting a 3rd?
I guess now it’s a 4th.🙄

I see we have traded Landry. I’m trying to catch up, what was the deal?
A coupon and shout out from Lebron
Could still be a 2nd, too. If your glass is half empty, fill it up.
They already said it wasn’t a 1st or 2nd.
Based on “sources.” I wouldn’t rule anything out until the actual deal is released.
Initial reports said not a first or second, but then other reports said it was the third that supposedly is going for Tyrod. We’ll find out soon enough….if not necessarily today.
Sonny – Maybe the Dolphins didn’t commit to him. They offered him $13.5M per, and he said no, commitment over! Commitment is a two way street. He wanted the money, he got it, good for him. Now he gets to play in CLE. Woohoo!
They keep saying 2 mid round picks. …doesn’t sound like a 2nd to me.
To quote Lando…
“This deal is getting worse all the time.” LOL
well, like Mike E is so fond of saying. he’s no longer a Phin. fuck him
Got that right! De-cleet that mofo when he catches one over the middle in MIA
Yes
LMAO – Some Browns fans are sure they’ve given up one of their 1st round picks for Landry. We wish.
Well, sounds like it might be a 4th in ’18, and maybe a 4th or 5th in ’19. Not great compensation, but it’s better than just letting him walk for nothing.
On the bright side if it’s the first pick of day 3, we may be able to turn into multiple day 3 picks. 😉
That’s true, that’s ALWAYS a hot pick
Whatever the compensation is it was never going to be a great value trade. It was always about getting something for him rather than just letting him walk for nothing. This shouldn’t surprise anyone but I see the trolls on Twitter are acting like asses towards the sports reporters. It’s one thing to disagree with these guys, but the insults are just retarded.
Lol
So Gase has allowed his two favorite players to be traded for 4th round picks? I think I’d rather he not like me. Lol
Ha….Tannehill is probably packing his suitcase….
And, Cleveland’s 2019 pick will probably not be a high one in each round. It would be easier to swallow if they were gonna pick at the top of every round like usual. Lol
Rams and Browns being aggressive. Traded for Landry, Traded for Taylor and Browns just traded for CB Randall from GB. Putting together one hell of a team.
Cap hell!
They should be….have won 7 whole games once in what….12 years?
$113M under cap
well, the fact we got two picks for Landry is a good thing. I figured we’d probably need to give up a pick to get rid of him.
#65 for Tyrod? Is that official?? We should get more for Landry then, QB or not. Is our trade official?
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000920459/article/browns-to-trade-for-tyrod-taylor-damarious-randall
Here’s how the conversation would go if we just let Landry test FA and said keep in touch and we’ll see if we can still make a deal. Then he signs with another team and everyone would say we should have tried to at least get something for him. So that’s what we do and now the compensation isn’t high enough. We were never getting top picks for him and then the new team pays him what he wants as well.
Why is anyone surprised? Many of us have been saying this will be the case all along. Now hating the fact that we did trade him is another thing. But that writing has been on the wall all along.
Tim,
Why do you think we traded him? Do you think it was just a money thing? I agree that he wasn’t worth what he wanted to be paid, but teams overpay guys alll the time….including us. Lol
Money and lack of discipline is my guess.
I didn’t mind the flare ups, but there may be more to it than what we see.
Money, him being a ball hog but not enough explosive plays resulting in points, and much like his buddy in NYC he’s a hothead.
I made these points all offseason and many hear did not likey. LOL
Asshole
Did you read the link I put up? CLE said they will make Landry one of the highest paid WR’s in the league. We couldn’t do that, we just couldn’t, and furthermore, we shouldn’t. He took the money, we did what we could, got a couple of picks. He might get $15M+ per. Do you think we should have paid him that Randy?
CLE has to spend lots of money to get to the cap floor.
Browns sent Kizer to the Packers

Listen, I loved Landry. I wanted him to stay. I loved the way he played the game. He did whatever he could for us. I guess he was the smart one, because CLE is pay him a shit ton of money, money that we could never pay, so he’s gone and that’s that. Like Lou said, FUCK ‘EM!
Ditto
Unbelievable, SMMFH
Owe ya a beer
Not sure if twitter is correct, but seeing pick #101, and then a 7th in 2019
As opposed to just letting him go in FA and get nothing. I’m still shocked that many fans and media are shocked about the compensation. It was never going to be a lot.
I had already had Landry not on the team on a list I keep of the positions heading into 2018. However I did miss on adding a 3rd to our draft for him so I was off there.
Not trying to say I predicted this or any patting on the back type stuff, but if you read between the lines this is what we all should have expected. So I was already prepared for this therefore I’m not shocked or upset. 🙂
They obviously did not want to pay the franchise price
They never were…. and if Browns are gonna pay big, then I’m surprised we even got a 4th
The hysteria is pretty funny I have to say.
Although Landry was a member of the team and well liked by a lot of fans I was never really a fan of his. To me, he was a douchebag. And being a douchebag myself, I know douchebags.
But he wasn’t a douchebag in a BarcaLounger…
It’s more like a Meowalounger
Welp, it seems Adam Gase sent a message to BOTH Jay Ajayi and Jarvis Landry in the compensation we’ve received.
Adam Gase: STRIKE TWO
Gase doesn’t make the trades. That is Tannenbaum and Grier
Shit, it’s not pick #101, it’s the pick they got from the Panthers, #123. Oh well, so much for having the 1st pick day 3. 😦
A fourth and 7th wtf?
A 7th round pick in 2019. Isn’t this like a 8th round pick this year.
It’s like the worst UDFA available. lol
How is that? A pick in any season is what it is and it comes down to the talent you use them on.
“The disappointment sets in…”
Name the song and artist.
At the end of the day, we traded Landry for Quinn.
Not bad trade then.
That’s true, but there is more to it. Landry wanted the big money. Not as if they just dumped him
We only got a 4th rd pick but don’t ever trade those or we just gave up a valuable pick. LOL
Hey we got a 7th next year too that we can use to trade up into the 6th or maybe even 5th for one of those prize mid-round prospects everyone loves. 😉
Possible landing spots for Tannehill include Arizona and Denver.
Pretty much any team would be lucky to have him. Seems only half a dozen teams would not be possible landing spots. And with his contract his trade value would be huge…..maybe a first this year with a legit player thrown in.
And who’s starting for the Phins?
ER — I was just yanking Lou’s chain……he thinks Tanny should be cut I think.
Maybe I am too short-sighted, but the Landry trade is the move that made the most sense cap-wise. Also probably means that we keep James, or at least can if we want.
Yep. Now once they cut the two T’s, they will about $9M under the cap..
Have to keep James one way or another. Can’t look to fill 3 spots…
It was simply to get something for him instead of just letting him walk. It’s really f’n simple. LOL
You know, at least try to get something for him. 😉
you can spin this trade any way you want but the front office was banking on getting more in compensation and they guessed wrong. it’s a further indication of how incompetent they are at their jobs.
They were hoping. The offers weren’t there. By the way, this is your spin. Not just everyone else’s opinion. I thought it would be something like this all along and there’s plenty of posts to back that up. That’s why I’m not shocked or upset and have already moved on. 🙂
And you know they were banking on it? For all you know they were hoping for a 5th and got a 4th. They seem to have made their minds up on not resigning him. That’s it, they got a 4th for nothing.
I thought it would be something like this all along too. I’m just saying they overvalued the trade and didn’t get what they thought they would. I’m not shocked by the results either. This is the way these incompetents work.
Oh shit…Lou are you a cat guy!?! Oh the Horror!

2016 Miami #Dolphins: J. Ajayi and J. Landry accounted for 2,576 yards of 5,324 total offensive yards (48%) with Tannehill at QB (made the playoffs).
The return: R. Quinn (17.5 sacks over the last 3 years), a 4th rounder, and a 7th rounder. 🤔
You know what second place is? The last to lose.
Ya know, I heard that for the VERY first time the other day! I found it to be an interesting point of view.
Losing is losing and losing makes you a loser. Ain’t no points for not winning.
I’m still laughing at all the hysteria and this for that stuff being posted. I’m gonna go get some beer, this is gong to be fun. LOL
I’m just happy it’s done.
The writing was on the wall when Gase threw Landry under the bus to the media after being ejected from the Buffalo game,
the problem with compensation is the Salary Landry will demand, not many shoppers want to take on that contract for a slot rec.
bottom-line Landry lacked Separation speed, he couldn’t beat DB’s deep, he was great underneath, played tough but IMO wasn’t worth 13.5
I would have been pissed if we signed him for $13.5M
People don’t like to hear it but teams used LBs and Safeties to cover him.
And again….nobody here knows what “they” thought they were going to get. They got something instead of nothing for a player they had no intention of keeping.
doesn’t matter anyway. the fact is the offense just got better.
ER, I guess this can’t be said enough. See my last post. LOL

I think it’s more a matter of life perspective rather than an absolute, but your point IS technically correct (you’ll get no argument from me).
Look at it like this: Jarvis wanted to get PAID, even though he’ll never get the $$$ that an Antonio Brown or Julio Jones will get. So in this particular case (with Jarvis wanting to get PAID), he’s WON… even though he may come in like #4 or #5 in WR $$$.
It’s all a matter of perspective, bud. 😉
In Jarvis’ case, it doesn’t SUCK to come in 4th or 5th place… he’s WON! 😉
The NFL really needs to do something to improve their business model. There is just nothing to talk about in the off season.
Ever think this was the best offer for Landry with a team willing to pay him what he wants? Some of you are so missing this boat on this. It’s more emotion than anything. You’re not taking anything else into account. We didn’t want to pay him but wanted something for him instead of simply allowing him to be UFA. End of story.
Exactly, and they were able to find a team that will pay him what he wants and can afford to overspend on him…..there probably were not a lot of teams out there willing or able to do that.
It didn’t appear so. If there were, there would still be bidding going on. We didn’t have to accept this deal. We could have waited until FA started but likely already knew this was the most interest. If another team was willing to give up more, what were they waiting for?
I’m not upset at all. The offense will be better now that they’re not targeting the slowest wr on the team 150+ times a season and start spreading the ball around. If we have Stills playing inside he’ll be more effective than Landry was there and if we get another guy on the outside and split time with Stills and Grant and maybe someone like Morgan and if Ford comes along we’ll be all the better for it.
I don’t care for players who are all about themselves and, with that said, goodbye and good riddance.
WELL,TIM, why am I NOT surprised that the gutting of the Dolphins meets with your approval?? – – Hell, you probably thought the Marlins made a great move by getting rid of their entire outfield and most of their infield was a great idea, too. Well, maybe NOT.
——————————-
TRUTH IS the record of the 2018 Dolphins will prove who is right. If Miami has a 10 win season and wins a Playoff game it will prove me dead wrong. I ACTUALLY HOPE THAT IS THE CASE!!! –But I suspect that, with an easier schedule than last season, Miami STILL will not have a winning season and, of course, for the 18th consecutive season, still will NOT come within hollering distance of a playoff victory. This may be progress to some on this board but, to me, it is the absolute definition of FAILURE. You are what your record says you are and, since taking majority control of the Dolphins, Steve Ross and his “DOOFUS BRIGADE” are 16 games below .500. By the end of next season, they may be 18 or more games below .500.
——————————–
ONLY A JETS’ FAN OR AN IDIOT COULD SAY “THAT IS PROGRESS.”
Two players is not gutting and I’ve been saying the same thing for over a month and you’ve seen it. This is emotional reaction time. We new changes were coming on offense and it’s been with both coaching and some personnel. Gase hated his offense. We’ll see if he’s right.
Prof Lou,
I know ya want to blow EVERYTHING up, and I fundamentally disagree with ya on that: I think you’re about half off your rocker. I mean, we’re only 1 year removed from having made the playoffs for the first time since the advent of the Wildcat.
You seem to be gloating over the fact that we just got ripped off by the Browns. Whatever.
HOWEVER… I’m going to give you props on something that YOU were wise about: we SHOULD have traded Jarvis last year, as you had suggested.
Many mocked you last year (including me), but I think the return would have been SIGNIFICANTLY better than what we got today. So with NOW hindsight being what it is, I admit that you were correct last year, man! Props!
We did try to trade him last year. Teams balked knowing what kind of money he was looking for as a UFA. So how would we have done better when no teams made an offer? You have to follow the process, not your imagination. LOL
No, they should have signed him long term last year…
OH, I agree on that! But now knowing the end result (trade), I just feel we could have done better doing it last year. Tagging him for $16M killed his trade value.
it’s all going to turn out for the best. glad he’s gone. goodbye and good riddance.

Welp, it seems Adam Gase sent a message to BOTH Jay Ajayi and Jarvis Landry in the compensation we’ve received.
Adam Gase: STRIKE TWO
MF
What happens when he gets to strike 3, you send him a frowning emoji?
I could try that! LMAO!
😆
We’ve got Stills, Parker, Carroo, Ford, Grant and Morgan as a start to work with. Maybe we go after someone like Miller or Kirk in the draft, maybe Lazard. IDK. But, we probably get at least one wr sometime in the earlier to mid part of the draft and possibly two and then probably at least a couple as udfa’s.
So, I’m not one bit worried about the wr group. I’m more concerned with the offensive line. If we get the line right and can run block and pass block effectively losing Landry isn’t going to matter one bit.
I still think part of the reason they didn’t get a deal done last year was the investigation of some domestic issue he had. Turned out that was dropped or whatever but at the time they didn’t know how it would play out.
Actually, Herd, the FO is just plain stupid. Instead of blowing $10,000,000 on Cutler, they COULD have stuck with Moore or some other back-up and gone 4-12 or 5-11 and used the Cutler money to sign Landry long term. But OUR FO thinks 4th & 7th round draft picks will fill these holes better than Landry and whoever we acquire at running back to fill Ajayi’s hole.
They must be better than us skeptics, right?
Alright, I got out what I wanted to say about the trade of Jarvis. I think we got $#!t value in exchange for the all-time receptions leader through his first 4 years in NFL history when we spent a 2nd rounder on him to begin with.
It’s about $$$ and this IS a business, but I think we got the short end of the stick… AGAIN. SMH
I’ve got to focus my energy on what we can do in FA and the Draft, now.
I’m going to miss Jarvis(!!!) and I’ll root for him… until he plays us, OF COURSE!
Why didn’t we just let him walk, keep the hell out of FA, and collect a 3rd round compensation pick? I guess we get the 4th round pick this year, but it better be at the top of the round.
Agree with some of you that it wasn’t great value to pay Landry top dollar, but didn’t the team basically say they were invested in keeping their guys and building within last year? That’s my biggest problem with Tannenbaum is there is no consistent strategy. He just throws shit at the wall and hopes something sticks.
The compensation formula wouldn’t guarantee we got a 3rd RD pick. It goes by Landry’s value, salary, stats, PLUS, whatever we bring in and pay in FA too. If we spend a lot of money in FA, it cancels out the compensation we get back in comp draft picks.
Agreed Mike. And we are going to blow our cap to hell for the next couple years with more crappy deals. Rinse, repeat.
I already know what’s coming. We are going to keep trading for big contracts or sign top $ FA deals. All for guys we don’t know a thing about . This franchise has been run so poorly for so long. It is tough to stay invested.
SHIT sometimes sticks to a wall. But, when the day is done, all you have is shit.
Jeep in mind that even if Landry had 3rd or 4th round comp pick value (and could have been less) that the only way to collect is if overall you let go more than you bring in. So the bird in hand thing is there….as is the $16 mil we would have been paying for sure.
Owe MIke E a beer.
Landry is not an elite WR but wanted to be paid like one. He’s a great short yardage receiver who catches most that come his way and plays physical. When did he ever make our offense go to another level?
My early pick for 2018 breakout player of the year is #19….

OD, started to reply to your comment to me before seeing you finished your post with yet another insult to anyone who disagrees with you. Geez man, why do you have to do that?
Because I’m right. Only a moron or a Jets’ fan would applaud the results of the Ross regime.
Well that’s just swell.
Tannebaum is a joke
A 4th round pick and a 7th
Don’t try to rationalize this guys
By this time next season we will be searching for a new coach or a new gm or both
YOU are RIGHT, Piggy!! –But what we need the most is a NEW OWNER who knows how to successfully run a winning NFL franchise.
^^^
Many of us have been saying this for over a month, you just wouldn’t accept it. You and many others over-value Landry big time but those who don’t agree with you are wrong in your mind and that’s fine. I always felt it would go down something like this. The team with the most cap traded for him. Gee what a surprise.
Our offense gets better by losing Landry but Cleveland is building a juggernaut by getting him. Call it Dolphin logic.
Or call it what it really is – fucking stupidity
Who said they’re building a juggernaut because they got Landry? Landry?
Well that’s not from me just incase. LOL
Son, I have loved how Cleveland has handled their rebuild the last couple years. They are going to turn it around. Meanwhile, in Miami….
It sure is an interesting project on not just transitioning, not just rebuilding, not just blowing it up……but going nuclear wasteland and creating a new society. Future is looking up now, but they did win one game in the last two seasons to make it so.
Totally worth it if you change the course of the franchise. Rams seem to have pulled it off, maybe Jax.
Is that Landry and Ajayi are gone
I just don’t see the point of clinging to anyone
Why not just do a fire sale?
Let’s trade everyone for day 3 picks
Let’s get every 4th round pick in the draft
At this point, I’m all for firing everyone and handing the keys to a bright GM with a bottom out strategy that hoards picks and stockpiles young talent. I could live with 2-3 awful seasons if it meant we were run properly and building with consistent purpose.
This isn’t triggered by just the Landry deal. It’s the last few years of bad value transactions and lack of strategy. I have zero faith in the FO right now. Ceiling is probably 10-6 every once in a while, and mostly losing seasons. Give me a reason to expect otherwise, please.
Have a great weekend guys.
I think it might be time for more Iron Maiden. Let’s me think. 😉
NOW SON, DON’T be so critical. You could hurt someone’s feelings.
Tim,
So what are our current draft picks now for ’18, after the Quinn and Jarvis trades?
Haven’t looked at exact “numbers” yet but basically back to where we started with two 4’s and 8 total picks.
Got ya, and same here. I’m ready to get to work on who we should draft.

Lou is exactly right,
Tannehill will make all of these receivers better.
LOL
LOL indeed, Tim. Tanny will be lucky to last the season behind Miami’s awful O-Line!!
I think the OL needs a lot of work, we weren’t talking about that though but okay. It was a joke by Bookman about Lou’s Tanny-Hate. Have some fun. Geez!
And they should be better with Tanny so long as he is healthy. We all saw what Cutler was like. By the end he was just mailing it in for the paycheck.
Build the OL and bring a TE in is all we need. And good as Landry was…..slot receivers come cheap.
It’s a frustrating thing being a fan. You guys that are all upset should just realize that shit isn’t always going to go the way you want it, whether it’s losing during the season, or losing players in the off season. It’s just part of the game man, gotta deal with it.
