I watched HOF Miami Dolphins Center Dwight Stephenson stroll to the podium. He looked happy. I know why he was so happy, but I didn’t know then. He then uttered the words with the 42nd pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins select Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State. When he said Mike, my heart raced, and then he actually said GEH-Sick-ee, I screamed a a scream of happiness, it’s possible Tim who is about 45 miles away may have heard it. We did what we haven’t been able to do for over a decade since Randy McMichael, we selected a legitimate receiving TE. I’m happy for Brian in NY, his son, and really, I’m happy for Ryan Tannehill and all Dolphins fans, because this is a gamechanger. It’s the secret sauce we’ve been missing for far too long. Gesicki will open up that field for us, because he will be that nightmare that NFL teams struggle most to cover, including our own Dolphins defense. Just his presence on the field will open things up for our RB’s, and our perimeter WR’s. He will command attention, and that will give other players opportunities they haven’t had here. I can’t wait!

What about me boss? In the 3rd RD, The Dolphins selected Ohio State LB Jerome Baker. Baker who is 6’1 229 is a speed player. He’s not a run stopping thumper, but he’s a chase and tackle guy who can also cover pretty well. It will be interesting to see how Baker is used, and not to belabor the point, but where exactly does T.J. McDonald fit in? Seems we keep adding pieces that lessen the need for T.J. with Minkah Fitzpatrick and now LB Jerome Baker. The Dallas Cowboys want a safety , and we just happen to have one, and the Cowboys have pick #116 in the 4th RD, so maybe a deal can made. We could get a DT, RB and maybe a QB, so keep your eye on MTP who has obviously been tied up and must be raring to go, if he’s been untied that is.
So far, we’ve done and excellent job in this draft, and I can’t remember the last time I’ve had the luxury of saying that. Go DOLPHINS!!
JERSEY STRONG!!!

I like that he’s a grinder in the AZ desert heat with a really upbeat attitude. He loves to practice and loves to lift and loves football.
I see the stats now, but I like the pick.
The way I see it with Ballage is depth, KR and upside.
Unless we were taking a RB early – it is just depth
He can also be used on short yardage
ok at DT if we don’t get Poona Ford, who is a bit short, or Tim Settle, who is a bit heavy footed, there’s Trenton Thompson and Steven Richardson who I like at DT.
I see wenoicked a TE and a RB
Smythe is the blocking TE some of you are squealing about
balledge is our big back I would have preferred a couple other Rbs but balledge has talent
We needed an overhaul at TE.
I like this draft….hopefully these guys fulfill their promise. I really have no issues with any of the picks.
Mike, I forgot to mention this earlier. I didn’t hear your scream on the Gesicki pick because you were locked in your shed. LOL
With the exception of Baker, most of the guys we selected have been discussed in this board
Compare that with the ireland days…lol
this is what ive been saying
Ballage runs a little high when he goes outside first, seems to be waiting for a hole, but otherwise I like the pick and can see him being a feature back at some point. He can catch, Gase prerequisite, and block, so good pick.
That’s one of my critiques of him too. He’s not exactly known as a good lockeroom presence either. Lost his starting job at ASU at one point
But he’s big and talented and can fit a limited role for us behind drake and Gore
What did he do as a bad locker room guy?
I don’t know Tim
It May be nothing
Because we had needs at every position, it’s easy to like this draft 😛

Dallas gave up 192nd overall pick in sixth round to land former Rams WR Tavon Austin.
yawn
No i remember one year in the not too distant past when we traded cough cough for a WR when we already had like 10 on staff. This yr has been surgical.
We HAD to take Minkah.
Anthony Fasano went to Notre Dame….like the symmetry with Smythe on that.
4 DT’s gone in the 5th so far
Alabama, Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Arizona State….guess we no longer are looking for the small school gems to develop.
I love it.
Honestly that’s why I’m a little surprised by the balledge pick over Scarbrough
ASU is not exactly a powerhouse
Btw
I love it too
Take big schools early, try to find those gems in the back end of the draft
ASU is the exception there, but still not a huge one.
BALLAGE THE LEADER
Ballage led an otherwise dormant ground game on Thursday, scoring two touchdowns and picking up a key forth down conversion early in the second half.
To Graham however, Ballage’s play on the field was less impressive compared to his improvement in the locker room.
“I was really pleased with the leadership; I was really pleased with the locker room before the game,” Graham said. “Kalen Ballage is probably the most improved guy in the program from every area. Just to see him lead like that was incredible.”
With other team leaders flanking him at the press table on Sunday, Ballage displayed a little bit of his new level-headed approach when evaluated his team’s performance.
“I’m really proud of the guys’ heart,” Graham said. “I told them ‘I’m sick of talking about heart,’ but let me tell you, I’m very proud of – not just one side of the ball. Guys gave great heart.”
Graham said freshman quarterback Dillon Sterling-Cole and junior running back Kalen Ballage “played with great courage,”
Ballage, with his history of overcoming illness and injury, also was there to pick [the erratic QB] up and console him outside the visiting locker room of Autzen Stadium.
“I’m not discouraged at all, just passionate,” Ballage said. “I just love my teammates and my coaches to death.”
Ballage praised Sterling-Cole. at ASU’s postgame media availability , rightfully somber, though never resorting to playing the blame game – assuming total accountability.
Ballage will have Gore to answer to. At least if he really wants to be a pro. Good situation for him.
3 picks left
We don’t need to spend one on a kicker, you can pick a kicker up at 7-11, but we did take pinero out to dinner so I’m penciling in Pinero as 7b
Decent players on the board
Falk, equinamious, Lazard, Poona, fatukasi, Jake Cichy, David Bellamy, will Clapp, skyler Phillips
Those last 2 OL are versatile and can give up depth
I wouldn’t mind one of those big WRs but you know me (piggy bows)
Seriously I think more than a few people called the Gesicki/Smythe combo
I would have loved Gesicki/ Ian Thomas but I can’t complain about Smythe
Ian Thomas = Dion Simms
I think he’s a better receiver but I liked Simms and I like the comparison
Yeah Smythe seems to move well so he can also help as a receiver at times but he did do a lot of in-line blocking at ND.
That’s what we needed
We have Escobar too
Blocking and ST
At least he can run the ball, Damien was a liability running it. Game 1 a couple of years ago, first quarter, 4th and 1, and Damien runs into the back of OL, and it never got any better.
Our K coming up.
I hope we spend a 7th and not a 6th
Then Minn takes a K.
I’m just looking at some of the 5th round picks
Hurst, Settle, fumagalli, griffin and Samuels
There was some talent in that round
Fumagalli
there you have it, Ajayi for Ballage
Im good with that.
Are you happy? 😉
yes
Bunch of DT’s gone in the 5th.
We should take Pineiro in the 6th. or whoever their fave PK is.
Or why don’t we bring back the little engineer from RPI? He was not that bad.
I can’t beleive you guys are nervous about missing out on a kicker…
If we dont get one here im going to call this draft a failure
Lol
We still may go DT, but they cant expect anything out of him this year.
Just need a guy who can add some depth and play some meaningful snaps here and there.
c-ya cj anderson,
Mike White is off the board
TE will be very competitive in TC.
Maybe, but Gesicki is starting unless he stinks like an egg.
I meant the depth. I fully expect Gesicki to play a lot.
Falk, Benkert, Ferguson and Woodside are still on the board
I’m rooting for Falk
The Vikings took a kicker
It’s not Pinero
We have the 35th pick in the 6th round
Wtf!
It’s a comp pick from the trade with the Rams for Quinn.
I still hate waiting
We draft 9th and 11th in the 7th. LOL
Weeeeeee
I guess nownis a good time for me to get in the subway and head back to queens
Oh right, you bought a condo or something?
https://twitter.com/barstoolsports/status/990240880144666624?s=21
I saw that. LOL
Nice hit
Love that the dolphins are body surfing…..those mammals have fun.
yikes
I’ve surfed the same wave as a dolphin before, but we were both going the same way.
That right there is scary.
However, it seemed like the phin pulled off his hit a bit at the last second,
so as not to draw the PF flag.
That’s the new team, smarter AND quicker.
UCF has 4 guys taken that’s more than any other Florida school.
That’s got to be a first.
Really?
Great year for UCF.
Go Knights.
(really bad times for UF and a down cycle for FSU as well)
I don’t know but that’s what the mayor of Oviedo just said on FB. Our kids went to school together and he’s a huge UCF fan.
How the mighty have fallen.
Those 4 DTs are still there as well.
Ford, Norton, Thompson, and Richardson.
FN Kiper finally cut that Herman Munster hair.
Eddie, not Herman. LOL
Ok
LOL
Or Count Chocula. LOL
Damn, Jests took DT Fatukasi
There you go Son, we have something else in common, Go Knights Go
VGK
True, but UCF dropped the golden part several years ago
For real?
No, QB’s taken for a while except White
No one wants a QB anymore…lol
Call off the search party! LOL
I went to the Alehouse immediately after we picked gesicki to get dinner because I hadn’t eaten and I coulldn’t connect to this site through their wifi. Got a little drunk and stayed out late. Slept in this morning until almost 11. Had ticket to the 12:15 showing of Infinity wars. WTF!? I’ll leave it at that for those who haven;t seen it and are going to. SMH No QB yet huh? Figured we take on in the 4th. We got our pass catching TE (the third best in the draft) and what appears to be a good blocking TE (at least that’s what all his strengths list on his NFL draft evaluation.) Got a fast small LB and a RB. We have a lot of freaking holes still and no quality picks to fill them. 2 TE? tiny line backer?
Ok, go dolphins….
Good to see you’re ok.
We’re after speed man. Speed and help on third down.
Glad you survived the no Gogurt pick….but seems a pretty good second place ribbon with who we did take.
Who took John Kelly?
Rams
Has a finisher’s demeanor as a blocker
Plays like an offensive lineman
Technically sound blocker
Hand placement is accurate and he unlocks his hips into opponent
Runs his feet on down blocks until the block is secured
Understands his landmarks and takes proper angles
Excellent timing and radar when working up to linebacker on combos
Plus blocker for the position in-line and on the move
Trustworthy in pass protection
Was able to work the seam and lay out to make the catch
Unfazed by hitters in the middle of the field
That’s a damn fine checklist for a TE, and he played at a Big Time competition school.
I glad we finally drafted a real TE
What a difference a couple of years makes, we had 4 5ths 2 years ago.
I see Rock had his own 4 5ths
LOL 14 -12’s is more like it.
Wow – Really happy with our picks! I got busy at work so I missed the Smythe and Ballage picks. That’s 2 guys I actually wanted for us, Gesicki and Ballage. Very pleased! Like the Smythe pick too, giving us the receiving TE and the blocking TE. Ballage totally reminds me of David Johnson
He does and that is his stated role model out in the desert.
Plus he has a close mentor type relationship with Le’Veon Bell.
I don’t See Johnson or Bell, what i see is a good between the tackles running, but please dont start out running wide.
Steve – He catches the ball really well out of the backfield, and his size in addition to his receiving skills are like David Johnson
Rock – 3rd best my ass! Gesicki is the BESTEST!
LOL
I had Hurst, Gesicki then Gogurt
Then you had the last two reversed incorrectly but that’s forgivable
You can tell it was a down year for Clemson.
Only 3 picks so far … 1 OLB in the 3rd and 2 WRs in the 6th.
Not much “Sr Leadership” last year.
Scouts seem to agree that last thing Gesicki is is Gronk. He’s the new Jimmy Graham.
I’m cool with that.
ditto
I agree, Gronk is a bull, Graham is a high point catcher, and at 41.5 verticle (holy fuck Batman) Gesicki is going higher than anyone on the field at 6’6.
He has been practicing that hesitation move waiting for the blocks to clear like Bell does.
He also is highly adept at pass catching like those guys do. Wildcat. Long Speed. All that.
He needs to stop with the Bell hesitation.
Stanger – Who wouldn’t sign up for a young Jimmy Graham?
Gesicki scored 1800 points in High School basketball.
That takes coordination and speed.
He’s a freak athlete, just like Jimmy
And volleyball gives him strength at the top. Great athletes plat multiple sports at a high level, he fits that.
You know I wanted him and have been crying for that kinda of TE. Think he is gonna be split out a lot though……almost explains why we picked up Smythe. 🙂
Mike E, I hope you are right because that other guy, I forget his name, plays for another team and is dead to me.
😭
LOL! You’ll like Gesicki Rock, give him a chance.
Sigh 😔
Rah Rah go Gesicki
Go dolphins……..sigh
Rock – Saw Infinity Wars yesterday. Awesome and, yes, WTF!?!
I need to talk to somebody but I can’t because everybody I know who has seen it is in a public forum with other people who haven’t seen it
I know, right?
I took my wife, who doesn’t watch movies and has seen none of the othe Marvel movies. She now wants to start from the beginning and watch them all.
You definitely have to sit there at the end to digest everything that just happened.
…and we have to wait a whole friggin’ year for the next one.
Will you also have to sit until the very end because it’s a Marvel universe movie and they always have a scene after all the credits finish rolling
Oh yea. Everyone needs to sit till the very end. …it’s definitely one of the better end credit scenes to date.
Another DT gone. Shit, how DT’s do the Ram’s need. WTF
They had to do something with their 52 picks.
how many
I recommend seeing it. It was a good movie. There were a bunch of funny moments good action scenes and even drama. But WTF! They better have the sequel in the kitchen ready to release like Christmas time !!
In the can not kitchen Fucking hate how the phone just changes shit
Next year.
and there goes another DT McKenzie
he now wants to start from the beginning and watch them all.
Hilarious Now you have to figure out the whole master storyline and see how it will itself through all the different franchises and tied them all together There are some you don’t need to tie in like some of the earlier Spiderman and for the most part for some reason X-Men which seems to be separate in the universe
Yea, only the MCU. That doesn’t include X-men for now. Also, only Spider-Man homecoming falls under the MCU. You can also get away with not seeing the Hulk movie with Ed Norton.
Only 11 more picks (sigh)
🐷💤
Titans take Falk
Oh well!
Maybe we’ll get Lou’s favorite, unless he;s gone already, Benkert
Benkert still available
Falk to Titans
BBM owes dog a beer or bail out of the pound
Cool.. See you at the Fest. I’ll take either one.😎👍

Next year.
Man you know the time in between franchises is so strong in this one that they basically can’t have any other Marvel movies come out until the sequel to this one. Unless those movies in the other franchises continue this story line. I also wonder if they are going to tie in the TV series Marvel series to the Thanos story line. When the infinity wars played out in the comic book series 1520 years ago it did across all the comics that I read that the time I had mail subscriptions for most of the main Marvel characters at the time plus even offshoots like alpha flight
We have 2 Marvel movies before the next Avengers movie. Ant-man in July and Captain Marvel next March.
Yes, Agents of Shield does tie into the movies. There are a few more episodes left this season.
I just brought up the weaknesses FO Falk, to see why he hasn’t been taken yet, and before I got to the site the pick comes in . I Doughty he’s going to be a good pro.
Doughty wasn’t a good pro at all…
You get the comparison
Benkert is still available so is Tanner Lee Logan Whiteside Chase Litton
Tanner Lee just went to the Jags
Rock Here you go – the order to watch the movies including the TV series:
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/marvel-cinematic-universe-timeline-avengers/
Tanner Lee gone .. Jags
Sitting in the theater for Infinity War now
Enjoy!
Heading out for Infinity War in 5 minutes.
Turn those damn phones off
I do not wish to impugn the judgement of my Mob colleagues, but I never wanted to draft a QB this yr. I felt that this was an iffy QB class, that we needed a bunch of other positions, and that Tannehill, Osweiler, and Fales can get the job done just fine. So I think it would have been a wasted pick.
Praying that’s true.
Mike.. I don’t owe you a beer . I’m on a west coast delay 🐕
Fair enough Doggy! We’ll have plenty o’ beers at the next Fest!
No more Luse Falk😟
Damn, that is at least 4 DL the rams have drafted so far and they have Donald and Suh.
Im going Benkert at 209, i haven’t seen much tape and none lately, but reading his strengths vs weaknesses he’s a project worth a shot.
I wouldn’t be shocked if we took Pineiro now
Me either
There’s not reason to take a kicker now
But no reason not too
They done screwed around and list me my QB dagnabbit
Which QB, Falk?
Can we get our 2016 K back as a fallback?
He’s a weenie
Haha
Hot dogs pics are locked and loaded
Kurt Buthurt is still abailable
Other than K or Benkert I don’t see much left to take.
Equanamious is off the board
Equanimous gone
On the clock
They may draft / practice squad Buthurt in the 7th
Lazard still there?
Yes
ESPN still has us needing TE and RB and they deleted OG and QB. LOL
Hmmm
Never heard of him
I know nothing of Cornell Armstrong
Camp fodder
We have a small army of DBs now
Huh, have to look this one up.
ESPN has him as the 80th best cb
Yikes! He has a draft grade of 30
do who did we fucking pick
You can never have too many DBs and you can even pick up one with good size who runs a 4.45 in the 6th round. I smell ST.
Hmm caught a little off guard by that pick lol
Oh well. If we were gonna grab someone from southern miss I’d rather it be Korey Robertson
I do like that we drafted some one with the same name as one of the parent of the apes characters
I think you are thinking Cornelius not Cornell
Yes Falk Mikey
Cornell Armstrong? Did we need another later round CB?
You never stop needing dbs
I didn’t think we would double down in the secondary
Name: Cornell Armstrong
College: Southern Miss Number: 3
Height: 5-11 Weight: 193
Position: CB Pos2: KR/ST
Class/Draft Year: Sr/2018
40 Low: 4.38 40 Time: 4.45 40 High: 4.54
Measurables deserve higher than where he was picked. Maybe a steal or maybe there is a reason for that.
DB Cornell Armstrong was kind of a strange pick. Not much out there about him. Any intel?
I don’t remember much about him, he is from southern miss which is SB7s backyard and pretty close to mine.
Hey Bobby, they comin fo yo job
I expected that pick to be either poona Ford, Eddie Pinero or Arden Tate so I was wrong three times on one pick
