2018 Season – Game 3 – Raiders @ Dolphins

2 and oh!  No misprint here, The Dolphins are 2-0.  They went into NJ to visit the NY Jets at MetLife Stadium, and came away with an impressive victory.  The Jets had thoroughly dismantled the Detroit Lions in Detroit the previous week, 48-17, and they looked pretty damn good doing it too. Don’t let anyone take away or diminish this victory.  The Dolphins were far from flawless, but this unit looks so much more like a T-E-A-M than it has in some time.  I know, it’s easy to say that after 2 wins, and there’s some truth to that, how they respond to adversity will be key as well, but at the moment, there don’t seem to be any “ME!” players.

The team is listening to Adam Gase, and they definitely seem to be more disciplined.  The Dolphins fumbled 3 times in the game, Tannehill had 2, and more on that . . .   The strip sack where Tannehill fumbled, I am now positive that he DID NOT SEE Jamal Adams beat Mike Gesicki and he was just casually rolling out when Adams got by Gesicki for the sack.  I know some have said Tannehill looks slower, lost a step or two, but I don’t really see that.  What I think Tannehill has lost is some of his cutting ability, but his straight-line speed is there.  It’s also possible he improves in this area as he gets more comfortable and trusts his knee more and more in time.

2 Penalties in the game.  Discipline.  I couldn’t be happier with the production of that D-line.  If you think I miss Suh or Godchaux following Suh’s lead jumping offsides, I freaking don’t!  If you think I miss Jarvis Landry and his patented first down gestures (I do a little bit) I don’t miss the LOOK AT ME stuff.  It’s still early in the season, but after 2 games, Adam Gase seems to have shaped the roster with his guys, and it seems to be working.  Good on him.

We were all worried about the defense, the D-line, the LB’s, and the CB’s too, because Cordrea Tankersley seems to have regressed this season, and was inactive.  So far, it’s all working.  The D-line in particular sans Suh has been better than advertised, make that much better!  Talk about T-E-A-M, this unit personifies this.  Everyone is in the action and contributing.  Godchaux (6 TKL, 3 AST), Phillips (1 TAK, 1 AST, 1 SACK), Spence (4 TKL, 3 AST), Taylor (5 TKL, 2 AST),  Hayes (2 TKL, 1 SACK).  We’ve only registered 3 sacks, and 2 of them are by the DT’s, Robert Quinn has the other.  Safe to say if this DL play continues, Suh will not be tweeting in this direction in ’18, unless maybe to say I’m sorry, and I was wrong.

Back to the CB’s.  We haven’t played a team that is deep with WR talent.  The Titans have Rishard Matthews and Corey Davis, and Matthews is still hurting.  The Jets have Quincy Enunwa and Robbie Anderson, along with Terrelle Pryor, and then Jermaine Kearse who just returned from injury.  Neither WR group is impressive, so our CB’s haven’t been truly tested yet.  That changes a bit when da Raiders come to town.  Amari Cooper had a down year last season, but he’s started much faster this season, and he already has 11 receptions.  Jordy Nelson is a big talented veteran receiver and Martavis Bryant who came over from the Steelers is another bigger receiver who is a big play threat with great speed.  The Raiders also have TE Jared Cook who has started off very fast this season, so our secondary may play a huge role in this game.  That, and the pass rush.  We have to get to Derek Carr and make him uncomfortable.  He’s been uncomfortable most of the time, and that’s why he’s struggling, but if he’s allowed to sit back there, he will make us pay.

In the secondary, it will be interesting to see if Cordrea Tankersley is active, I think he’ll have to be.  Minkah’s snap count will probably increase as well, especially if we limit Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin in the run game.  If we force them to pass, there will be plenty of 3, 4 and maybe even 5 receiver sets.  Jared Cook is a dangerous receiver who has given us trouble before when he was with the Titans, and then also with the Rams.  Our secondary may be tested, and once again, if the run defense does it’s job, we’ll need more pass rush from Quinn, Wake, Harris and Hayes, as well as the DT’s.

The Raiders are scoring only 16 PPG, and have given up 26.5 PPG.  Small sample of course, but they have struggled so far.  You can almost flip the stats for our Dolphins, scoring 23.5 PPG and allowing only 16.  If we can keep that up against the Raiders, we should be 3-0, but . . .   The Raiders are desperate after plunking down the $100M contract for Head Coach Jon Gruden, and they will be desperate for a win, and also consider all the people who do the power rankings, how much it must be killing them for the Dolphins to be anywhere past #17 in the NFL.

I think we continue what we’ve been doing on offense, the combo of Drake and Gore has been effective, Gore really bailed us out on that 3rd and 19 play.  Neither back has topped the 100 YD mark, but the sharing is working.  I would imagine Devante Parker will see his first action this Sunday, as reports stated he was OK to play last week against the Jets.  We’ve spread the ball around so well, I wouldn’t expect Parker in the lineup changing that much at all.  I’d like to see Gesicki and Derby get more involved in the pass game, especially Gesicki, but we may have to be patient in that regard.  I think once Tannehill develops that trust that is so essential, and they understand each other, and learn what each other wants and can do, I think that Gesicki will start getting more passes thrown his way.

    44 offensive to 76 defensive!
That’s not going to win most of the time!!!!!!!!!

    • ukfinfan's avatar ukfinfan says:

I agree Wyo, but see SteveCCNV’s comment about TOP on the last page (which was a brilliant observation as I had exactly the same thought 😉 ). O Rob brought up TOP prior to this and the numbers were very skewed. Sometimes the teams with all the possession don’t win. But the best team won yesterday.

  2. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Raiders will be getting Nick Bosa in the ’19 draft. Maybe they draft Carr’s replacement too with the other 1st RD pick.

  3. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I wouldn’t get too excited, the teams we beat have a combined record of 3-7

  4. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    Tannehill is #4 in passer rating….but that’s a team stat…..:)

  5. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

UK – Whenever I think of wanky TOP games, I think of that game when we played the Colts many years ago, we had Lamar Smith at RB, and I think we had the ball for about 45 minutes (no exaggeration) and Peyton Manning lit us up for a TD almost every drive, and they beat us despite us having a nearly a 3:1 ratio of possession.

  6. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

we are 16th in rushing yards

  7. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

we are 7th against the rush total yards given up on defense

  8. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

    Steveccnv
just saw your question about “what game”: A’s vs Twins. we lost 😦 Magic number is still 1

BTW, A’s Triple AAA is moving to Las Vegas for next season.

  9. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    how did detroit beat NE?

    ANSWER = running the ball

that kept Brady on the sideline for most of the game.

  10. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

UK – It was the Ricky and Ronnie show . . . .

    Here’s the boxscore

  11. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

those pats will be riled up after starting 1-2,, I bet it will be hell there at practice, bellechick will make them pay for that loss. we better bring our A game to NE.

what a great win that would be if we can pull it off, we would have a 3 game lead on them with 2 away division victorys.

    huge game next week

  12. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

the bad news is we are ranked 29th in yards given up via the pass

  13. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

we are #1 tied with Seattle for most picks @ 7

  14. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

any word on Hayes? if he’s lost that would be a huge loss!

  15. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

    Orob and Mike,

Important to remember when looking at our opponents records: They are 3-6 combined, but they are 3-3 against the rest of the league. Miami laying 3 losses on a data set like that skews it a little bit.

  16. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

    I’ve done my statistical work.

    Dolphins 20 – Jets 12
    Jets 48 – Lions 17
    Lions 26 – Patriots 10

Dolphins will beat the Pats by 55 points. 🙂

  17. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

    Side comment:

why is the damn wall so close to the back of the end zone? Kenny Stills got kinda shaken on his TD pass in the corner and the same photographer he collided with was involved in the X int in that same spot. That sh!t is dangerous!

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

He was trying to not put his body weight on the qb

    • Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

ughhhhhhhh NOT good. SVP last night on CNN was showing the Clay Matthews penalty (this week’s version) and he went off. He told the league ‘this IS going to hurt you, (stumbling on words in disbelief) maybe you don’t believe it, or maybe you don’t care?” (shakes head)

    • BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

But yet we are trying to keep players from getting injured. Freak accident but either way it just sucks ass!

  19. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I love Hayes so don’t get me wrong
But we still have 4 quality DEs and 4 quality DTs
Maybe Harris will come around with increased playing time

  20. Jahndoh30's avatar Jahndoh30 says:

    BBM,

I am generally very understanding when the league invokes rules for player safety, particularly head injury stuff, but this rule is so incredibly transparently about protecting QBs that they are essentially removing QBs from the tackle aspect of tackle football. The pendulum has gone too far on QB protection. This rule has GOT to change. It was already illegal to drive a QB into the turf, utilize that call for player safety but they have gone too far and they’ve even lost me on this particular rule.

  21. We didn’t have to beat teams with a combined 3-7 record. The teams we had to beat have a 3-4 record against teams not named Dolphins.
3-7 is what they are AFTER We beat them, not before

  22. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The nfl is just being unreasonable with the rigging the passer calls

Of course there are going to be injuries when a 300 pound guy contorts his body midsack

  23. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Sucks Hayes is out for the year, he was always solid for us.

  24. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was just thinking we could be 8-0, and people would be saying we’re the worst 8-0 ever. Who cares! I’d rather be considered the worst 8-8 team rather than the best 4-4 team!

  25. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I figured it was an ACL when I saw how his knee flexed. Sucks. Isn’t Malveaux still on the practice squad?

  26. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Jahn – That looked insane yesterday when Stills was running at high speed and crashed into the back wall. That’s a product of trying to stuff as many high priced seats as you can. Steve Ross must be punished! lol

  27. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Stanger, Here are some more #’s for you:
The Pats are averaging 19 points a game and giving up 25 points a game against teams with a combined record of 3-6.
The Dolphins are averaging 25 points a game and giving up 17 points a game against teams with a combined record of 3-6.
Subtracting what the Dolphins and Pats have done against their opponents:
The Pats opponents are only 2-4.
    The Dolphins opponents are 3-3.
The Pats have had 2 road games (both losses) and we have only had one road game. But the Pats only win was not an overly impressive win at home against the winless Texans.
TBH, IMO the Raiders = Texans in that both teams have played tough opponents close, 2 of their 3 games on the road and feel that they are not as bad as their record indicates.
I know, still early in the season, but I love it when the #’s say we are better than the Pats. LOL

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Nicely done. And the D has looked good, even if think those early pass plays yesterdays made me worry. I see next game as like a comp play at a casino….and we earned last three games. Win and we get the high roller suite for the night, but lose and we are still looking good.

  28. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

I think the roughing the passer could be fixed easily!

If the arm is outside the grasp call it Roughing

If the arm is inside let-em play!

That will give the QB protection for his ribs

  29. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

    OH!!!!
We can’t do shit about our opponents record!!!!!

Just line up and WIN BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Actually, we can – If we continue to beat every team we play, all those teams will have worse records and winning pct as well! 🙂

  30. It would be nice if We were number one in every stat, lol but not realistic.
However, the most important stat of all, is the one that decides playoff appearances, the W-L Stat.
So We might suck at passing yard defense, or punting Snapping and other smal stats,
BUT 3-0 puts Miami Squarely at the Top of the Division, Conference, and League!
NO TEam has a better record than us, not 1. We are tied for first place at 3-0 in the AFC and Leaguewide

  31. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

As for Harris – I’m not sure why everyone is concerned about his lack of sack. Wake just got his first one yesterday and Quinn got his last week. They will come.

  32. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I’ll start the predictions list for this week:
Naples MIA 62-7 (only 2 FGs)
(per Stanger-math and subject to revision after injury report)

  33. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Jahn, I agree with what you said 100%. That was one of the worst BS calls I have seen regarding the one called on Matthews. They might as well change the rule, when it comes to QB’s in the pocket, it’s 2 hand touch only. I can see it now, Wake busting around the edge steam rolling toward Brady only to smack him on the ass with both hands then going into his crazed sack dance. Yeah buddy! LOL SMH

    • BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Then Brady will go into a tantrum saying Wake only touched him with one hand and that he only got him with a finger tip from the other hand and that is not a sack which prompts Bellicheat to throw the red flag and the refs have to go to the replay booth.

  34. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

If that FRICKEN Branch would stop doing STUPID shit!

We’d have 2 more sacks on the books!
    And
3 less first downs given up!!!!!!!!

  35. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Miami will need to shore up the short middle of the defense against NE. That’s where they’ve been getting gashed and that’s where Brady like’s to throw. Miami will need inside pressure. And of course I don’t expect the refs to call bullshit OPI next week.

  36. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

    Early odds – NE -9.5.

  37. Maybe Harris is saving his sacks stat til the NE game, then He plans on running the score up on it, lol
Also waiting for Minkah to get his first Pick 6, We know they are coming!

  38. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Phish–agreed on the early sack count
another way to look at Harris being delayed on getting sacks is that Wake did not even make an NFL team at Harris’s age. If Harris progresses to become the sack provider that Wake became, then his first 3 years of getting a few each year will seem like gravy and worth waiting through.

  39. Mike, I also noticed Stills looked a little groggy and got up slow after contact with that wall. I guess he’s ok, but There looked like room behind the wall to move it further back, someone underestimated the speed of our receivers, lol

  40. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

That stupid ass wall just needs to go. That’s where they have the big recliners. Last year I never saw more than two people in them all season.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

The 2%ers, that’s what every sports arena, vacation destination looks to attract. It’s a damn shame, but that’s how it is.

  41. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Malveaux got released off the PS when we needed to stash Maurice Smith on there.
We still have DE Jonathan Woodard 6’6 271 and DT Jamiyus Pittman 6’2 320 on there though.

  42. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

There are no FBS, or JUCO teams in the NFL!
    You don’t get a powder-puff schedule!!!!!!!!!!!!
    SMH

  43. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Sure am glad Miami didn’t draft Earl Thomas. He has a very Landry-like attitude.

  44. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I would expect a very fired up Pats team in their building next week. We’re going to have to play a more complete game to beat them.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

      well I picked us 3-1 after 4 w/ a loss in Foxbutt.
Now, however, I’m jonesin’ for 4-0 and the Electric KoolAide Acid test says it’s a 50/50 game, depending on the injury list.

  45. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

No one probably remembers except for me, but have said a couple times btwn scheme and player moves that Gase wants to recreate the Rams’ greatest show on turf. Maybe every so often even a blind stanger finds a nut.
    ————————————————

“It was just straight thievery. I mean we stole it. It’s an old Martz play,” Gase said. “It’s just nobody watches his old stuff. They might now.”

Martz, who coached the Rams’ “Greatest Show on Turf” teams visited Gase for a week at the end of training camp. Gase considers Martz the most influential mentor he’s learned from in his coaching career. The two specifically discussed how to expand the packages of Wilson and Grant, two of their fastest and most versatile playmakers.

  50. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

The NE game will come down to coaching and execution. Miami is the more talented team at almost all positions. Brady is sulking and trowing temper tantrums on the sidelines. Miami should win and go 4-0 with a 3-game lead in the division.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

We have a lot more talent than them – it’s not even close on the defensive side

On the offensive side, if they have Gordon and edelman to work with an unhappy gronkowski, that will help them

But the team we’ve seen the last few weeks is one of the least talented teams in the nfl

  51. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Phish

Earl Thomas was a big part of the Seahawks championship in ‘13. Probably one of their top 3 players on that team

But if you would rather have Odrick and Misi Bc they have better attitudes I guess that’s your thing…😝

I would have been happy to draft him
Just not so happy to sign him as a free agent or trade for him – that draft day trade down didn’t work out well for us

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

What Naples said. Team-first attitude is a real thing. Primadonnas destroy a team. The whole Seahawks secondary let their success go to their heads.

    Thing is
Wilson and Grant are our 4th and 5th string WRs.

and Amendola moved the chains as the Slot Guy.

Tannehill looked faster yesterday. I think his leg is getting better and better (or maybe his confidence in his leg).

He’s also lost about 15 pounds down to 207, so maybe that’ll help him maintain speed as he ages.

You know how it is with the wheels on those WRs.

  56. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    Our secondary should note this

  57. BailBondMike's avatar BailBondMike says:

Our run game did suck this last game but believe that is what the Raiders game planned to do. They did it well causing us to go deeper in the play book to win. I was wondering how we fared compared to other teams in the league. Most teams don’t have a Gurley, Elliott, McCaffery, etc so they rotate backs during the game. 20 teams have yet to have a 100 yard rusher.
Through 47 games there have only been 12 backs with 100+ yards. Most of those teams with the 100+ rushers feature mostly 1 back. Gurley twice, Elloitt, McCaffery, Conner(Steelers), Barkley, etc. 8 of the 12 barely got over 100 yards and 9 of the 12 had 16 or more carries.

Do we need to feed one back more?

The records for these teams w/100 yard rushers are all over the place with the majority having losing records.

I think we to keep doing what we are doing but just get better at it. If someone puts up over 100 yards, whoo hoo, but don’t care as long we are effective at it.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I totally called this last game wrong. I really missed it.
I thought Drake and Gore would run wild for 120 and 80 yards
and Ryan would get some too.

Oakland played inspired in the trenches, but left the corners exposed to speed.

Brady has this flunkie who runs up to take his helmet whenever he goes to the sidelines.
That way Tommy can pose for the camera and announcers to french kiss him.
Last night at least twice Brady flipped his helmet at the guy from several yards away.
This was to show that what happened on the field was not Tommy’s fault.
Also he could then show his “pouty lip thing” he does to get ref pity flags.

  60. Wyoming85's avatar wyoming85 says:

  61. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

So far the Pats are scoring 19 PPG, and allowing 26 PPG

  62. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Pretty sly of Gase to tell other coaches he is studying old tape on Martz’s plays.
That’ll give them something else to plan for and drain some huge time away from other film study, maybe all for nothing.
But if they don’t prep for those gadget plays, they could lose a game because of it.

But how do you prepare your LBs to stop those backyard scramble plays?
If you say stay in your lanes, our guys will run by you so fast you can’t catch them.

  63. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The loss of Hayes is a big blow to the defense. This new rule is absurd. Big guys contorting every which way to try and not land on a guy they are tackling, smh. But if the league has made one thing clear, it’s that they would rather lose William Hayes than David Carr. Assholes.

In 3 weeks, we’ve lost our best run blocker on offense and our best run stopper on defense. Ouch. We got through preseason unscathed, but we can’t keep taking these hits.

I’m still on cloud nine after that gutsy win. It’s never easy to beat the other team and the refs, but we did. I am curious what the under was for half time of our game, because it REALLY looked like the purpose of those bad calls at the end of the first half was to prevent another 7 points…

We’ll likely face the same test this weekend in NE (opponent and refs). We can win this game, but we have to bring a more complete game than we’ve seen so far. No reason to think we won’t be up to the challenge. We may not win the game, but I don’t see us losing by the 10 Vegas has predicted. I expect another nail biter.

    Dolphins 27
    Pets 24

So I can’t fin the O/U on the half, but for the game it was 43.5. I don’t know if it works like this, but half that is 21.75. You figure maybe 22 for the half O/U.

There were 17 points scored in the half. If we had scored a TD, it would have made the halftime total 24.

    Hmmm

UK – It was the Ricky and Ronnie show . . . .
    Here’s the boxscore

That was the game Mike – both Steve and myself were reminded of it but not as extreme. That game was bizarre.

I remember watching that game with my nephew at a local bar, and we had the ball for what seemed like the entire game, but just about every time manning had the ball, he engineered a scoring drive. It was crazy frustrating. We dominated TOP, and everything else but the scoreboard.

This makes me never want to order food again. Ugh.

This video is also the reason I am ALWAYS unfailingly polite to my food servers and prep workers, no matter the situation. The worst part of the story though, is the worker was mad at his manager, it had nothing to do with the customers.

As a society, we should seriously consider the death penalty for this kind of crime.

  80. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I think Gase takes what they give. If you want to sell out on stopping the run, fine. We’ll pass the ball. Focused on the short game? Okay, we’ll throw long. Dropping extra people into coverage?, Well then, we will just run the ball.

Remember how we used to bitch about the lack of in-game adjustments?

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I get that but with the running game not working the short passing game wasn’t complementing it and weren’t moving the ball. Then we just flipped the switch and boom.

      • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

My point was that they flipped the switch. In the past, they would have kept doing what wasn’t working.

  81. drg's avatar drg says:

Honestly, I felt like that was a game that we were going to lose. Oakland was desperate for a win, seems like the type of game we lose in the past, horrible start, screwjob by the refs on that end of half drive, down 10 early second half, injuries, heat and TOP against us.

All that, and a somewhat comfortable win? Good sign of resiliency, chemistry, and grit. Seen enough that I can safely say our run defense is legitimately improved. Secondary is solid and getting better. Tannehill is living up to expectations. Gase looking better by the day. Good stuff.

Going 3-3 over the next 6 would be great. BIG game next week. How awesome would it be to see this team put their foot on the throat of the patsies after four weeks?

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Tanny, secondary and run D are three things right with you on…. and three that felt most had to fall in line for us. But sure wasn’t feeling good when Jordy Nelson was running wild. Still concerned a top flight QB could pick us apart, particularly on the big play side.

  85. drg's avatar drg says:

    Stanger,

Our base D pass defense is a giant concern. With McDonald, Jones, and Minkah I think we can hold it down, but lose one and we are in trouble. McMillan is a 2 down LB. Jones is green and unproven, Kiko very solid. Guessing a 3 down LB or good cover LB will be a priority in the offseason.

You know Brady and Bellicheat will expose that all day. Their run game looks weak enough that maybe we can run a lot of dime and get away with it? Minkah on Gronk would be a fun matchup.

Ditto – read he played DT in college and was a conversion prospect to OL – we were so thin they sent him in to give s/one a breather. One of the DL said to him “think what you don’t like us doing to you, then do it to them!”

  91. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I was thinking to myself this game was a lot like the song “Shout” from Animal House. It was like a little bit softer now, a little bit softer now” when we were down 17-7, and then a little bit louder now when we made it 14-17, and a little bit louder now at 21-17, and then “Heeeeeeeeyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaayyyy, heeeeeeeeyyyyyyaaaaaaaaayyyyy, heeeeeeeeyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy, heeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy when we scored again to make it 28-17.

The Wilson run actually could’ve cost us the game. Had he fallen down at the 1, we could’ve run out the clock without them getting the ball back.

Hopefully we get Jones back for the Pets game. With their lack of weapons, we should be able to shut down their passing game. Double up on Gronk, Howard shuts down the next guy. Let Jones and TJ rotate into the box for run support.

  96. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

Well, I guess it’s a good thing we’re deep on the D-Line to absorb these injury hits. It’s frustrating that this is just business as usual in the new NFL though. It makes it more important than ever that players in the shadows are up to snuff.

  97. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

There’s a lot of mouths to feed in this offense. We really need to be able to get the most out of every drive and keep our punter on the bench so that everyone can eat. There’s no reason why both our run and pass game shouldn’t be successful at the same time. One shouldn’t take away from the other. That being said, it’ll be nice when this offense can fire on all cylinders and we start breaking 30 points.
