2018 Season – Game 4 – Dolphins @ Patriots

This is a historical game for the 2018 Miami Dolphins.  You have to go back to September 21, 2008 (The Wildcat Game) to find a Dolphins victory in Foxboro in the last decade. Win this game and remain undefeated, and put some legitimate space between them and the New England Patriots, who were/are the favorite to capture the division crown, as per usghe.   On the other hand, it’s game 4, and coaches prefer to break up seasons into quarters, and starting off 3-1, even after a loss to the Patriots, while it would be disappointing, it’s playing .750 ball, and a nice start.  There are so many perspectives to view this matchup through, and all the same, I think it’s important to keep perspective. If the Dolphins win this game, the Patriots are not dead and buried, and we don’t get the division crown.  If we lose this game, it doesn’t put a black cloud on the season and cause us to spiral into a 3-13 season. 12 regular season games still remain

The way I choose to look at this game is I would like the Dolphins to look like they belong on the same field as the Patriots, that Adam Gase is a match for Bill Belichick, that Ryan Tannehill can be competitive in a big game against Tom Brady.  Play a solid football game, fight till the end, and if you don’t win, at least you didn’t look unprepared or outmatched.  We’re a touchdown plus underdogs for a reason, this is not a game we usually win.

We all prayed for no injuries this season after last year, and early on we were granted good fortune.  However, in the last couple of weeks, we lost our Pro-Bowl LG, Josh Sitton for the season with a torn rotator cuff, and this past week, we lost a valuable member of the D-line, DE/DT William Hayes to an ACL injury.  We have to overcome those injuries, we must persevere.  The best teams always do, and we can’t let it drag us down.  The Sitton injury affected us, we couldn’t run the ball against the Raiders.  Ryan Tannehill led the Dolphins with 26 yards rushing on 3 carries, while Gore and Drake combined for 25 yards on 11 carries.  The Dolphins did a great job of masking that deficiency last week, but we all know we have to run the ball much more effectively to stay relevant this season.

Last week with William Hayes out, and of course losing DT Akeem Spence to an ejection, really hurt our run defense.  The remaining players played well in a much shorter rotation, but it will be great to have Spence for 4 quarters, along with whichever DE we choose to promote to the 46 man gameday roster.  The 2018 Patriots don’t really have a feature back, they use a combination of RB/FB Rex Burkhead, Sony Michel and James White, with Burkhead the closest one to resembling Marshawn Lynch, who really ran over us last week.  If not for some timely trickeration, we may have come up short last week.  Not sure how you feel, but I thought if they never took Marshawn out for a breather, he might have had 200 yards.

Sooooo, on to New England. Brady gets a new receiver, and this guy is a very talented one at that.  Don’t short Josh Gordon talent wise.  Judgement wise, maturity wise, you can kill the guy, but this guy has top 10 receiver talent.  The Patriots offense has been easy to defend this year, and the Lions gave one effective blueprint last week on how to tame the Pats offense, double Gronk, and see if the other guys can beat you.  Last week they did not, but adding Josh Gordon changes that somewhat.  I don’t know how much of the playbook Gordon can absorb, or if he cares to absorb it, but when he’s on the field, he has to be respected.  Julian Edelman remains suspended for this game, so we have to cover 7/11 Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, and occasionally Cordarrelle Patterson.  I think the Patriots will use James White a lot in the passing game.  He and Dion Lewis used to take turns ripping off big chunks against us, so we have to be disciplined.  White, incidentally leads the Patriots in receptions with 14.

Ted Larsen has go to play better, and this O-line in general needs to be more physical.  We need to give Drake and Gore running lanes, we didn’t give them anything last week. Don’t expect those trick plays this week to bail us out.  We’re going have to play them better straight up, so that might mean Devante Parker getting a little more involved, as well as TE Mike Gesicki.  Dont’a Hightower is a very good LB, but he can’t run with Gesicki.  I think it’s time for Gesicki to get more involved.

On defense, we need to stay focused on James White, and Phillip Dorsett.  They will use Dorsett kind of like how we’re using Albert Wilson, in space, near the LOS, and letting him use his speed to get yardage.  Of course Gronk is main focal point, and we;ve yet to find the right personnel to limit him, but my hopes are that Minkah Fitzpatrick helps in that regard.  It would be great to have Reshad Jones back this week, he’s questionable at the moment with a shoulder injury.  This would be an ideal game to have 3 safeties in there, so here’s hoping Reshad can go on Sunday.

Remember the date,  September 30, 2018.  The day the Dolphins started a new streak of Dolphins victories in Foxboro.  I think the Dolphins are going to win this game, in a closely fought, back and forth battle.  We really show our mettle here, and the rookie kicker, Jason Sanders, after being iced by Belichick, puts through a 40-something yard kick for the game winner and huge fist-pump.

Oh a fist pump for the win at the 10 year mark of the wildcat would be a beautiful fitting tribute to the late Coach Sporano.

    Good stuff Mike E.

    Good write Mike E!
Maybe NE can get some folks back and look better?

But they looked really slow the other night!

I think if we get our guys on the edge! GONE!!!!!!!

I would not try to make a living pounding it up the gut! Unless we are up by 2 TD’s!!! 🙂

  4. Randy's avatar Randy says:

Good job MikeE! The Lions actually beat NE by doing some old school running and a little timely passing. Can we do the same? Did Detroit set a blue print for how to beat NE? If nothing else, I’d test their defensive front and see what happens. I assume bellicheat would adjust after last week but I’d still find out.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

The only way bellechick could adjust is to bring more guys to the LOS which he did late against the lions with 1 deep safety. I would agree to give it to Gore up the middle a whole lot but Gase has a tendency to go away from the run.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      Thanks Randy, Rob!

  5. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Nice article Mike, i was reading up on Rashad Jones and he could have played last week, it would be shocking if he wasn’t ready to go in Foxboro,

Brady was harassed by the lions rush without ansah, I hope we can get to him with Wake and Quinn.

put X on Gordon and cover Gronk.

I think we have as good a chance as any team to beat these guys, their 2 losses this season came on the road, I’m sure this will be a well prepared at home coming off the loss to the lions. difficult match-up for us.. a litmus test.

  6. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I’m sure they will have Chung and Flowers back on D

  7. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    Orob,
That’s not the only way but his options are limited…and anything he does would open up options for us in other areas. Can Gsse win the cat and mouse game with bellicheat? We’ll see. It should be fun to watch.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

It would appear Patricia won the cat and mouse game, he kept running the ball and bellchick did not try to stop the run until very late in the game, collinsworth pointed out that NE had 2 deep safeties, and at the end of the game he pointed out that there was only one now and that NE added another run stopper to the LOS, and they did stop the Lions from running on that series.

I would assume how effective our running game is with NE as to whether NE will load the box, NE was hesitant to load the box against the Lions,

  8. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I will be disappointed in anything less than a complete dismantling of NE. Miami is the better team.

We have all those skills guys and can line up both Smythe and Gesicki if we run. Plus Smith has the best non-QB arm since Brandon “The Canon” Fields. And our frick’n actual QB used to play WR. He wouldn’t just have to hang at the edge and see who is in the stands like Pennington did.

Here is another “silly” article. I predicted before the ’16 season when he got hurt that he was on track to be “elite” and it was a good laugh for some on here.

Do we have to wait for 16 compete games to decide?

    Comp % – 73% – 5th in the league
    Passer Rating – 121.8 – 4th in the league
    Ave – 9.3 yds – 3rd in the league
    # TD’s – Tied 6th in the league
passes 40+ – Tide 8th in the league

    Is he elite yet?

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Consistency Rock – He has to do it for another season, like he did in ’16, and then people will believe. I think that’s fair actually.

  17. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The more I look at this game, the more I wonder how the heck the Pets can score consistently on us, and how they can consistently stop us.

Gronk gets doubled, and X shuts down Hogan, or Gordon if he is playing. Our run D has been solid. We just have to stop them from going off.

And they can’t stop all of our weapons on offense. As long as we don’t become one dimensional, we should put up some points.

We don’t have to run it up the gut. We just need to be able to keep them honest with the rushing attack. I actually like our chances to attack the edges with speed. NE is big up front on defense, and unless our line can get some push, we’ll be more effective on the edges against a slow NE D. If our line can get some push, then up the gut works too and all aspects of our offense should be able to click.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

It’s just the Belichick factor Kong. He always manages to find ways to exploit weaknesses. Gase has to match him in that department. Of course, we also have to execute, and not take ourselves out of the game with penalties and turnovers.

  24. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

While the interior is still a work in progress after the Josh Sitton injury, the Dolphins may have the most underrated tackle duo in the NFL. Laremy Tunsil and Ja’Wuan James have both graded among the top-20 tackles in the NFL. Tunsil’s improvement has been particularly impressive, as he’s allowed only two hurries all season.

The Wilson run actually could’ve cost us the game. Had he fallen down at the 1, we could’ve run out the clock without them getting the ball back.
    ————————————–
Wouldn’t have cost us the game but they could have gotten back into it and pushed it into overtime. Still you are right, they generally tell you in that situation to sit down at the 1, run out more clock and then punch it in to get the extra points if you still need them to widen the gap. I dont know if we could have completely run it out, but we would have run it down so far there was next to no chance they would have time to have made a comeback.

I have said this before and its still my stance, im not caring about 2016’s stats or W’s, i might would talk about them if they had been closing out 2017 stats/record, i think its just silly to include shit when there is a whole season gap between come of them. I dont mean they dont matter, i just think they are disjointed and shouldnt be considered part of the same conversation.

Thats said, he is doing enough right now to be really encourage about moving forward. 3 Games into it you shouldnt be thinking GOAT or even headed for pro bowl this year. You need to be standing in reality and happy with what we have right now, a 3-0 record, and a QB that seems to be getting his shit together. Tanny has never been a QB with no potential. A lot of other teams had him as a 1st round selection, the only issues have been he didnt seem to be living up to them, or really even progressing to the point we felt like he might.

Right now, he looks the part, and i dont see indication that he will really relapse, he has a better air about him now. He just needs to keep doing what he is doing and fixing things as he goes and one day maybe we are talking about him as a potential pro-bowler, and if he does that enough years we can start thinking further, just stick to where we are right now. 3-0 with a QB who is getting it done for us.

Starting him at OG was a setback to him being a great LT, so it not surprising that he is finally getting there. The kid is loaded with talent at that position. We were not ready to move on from BA at the time, but i promise ya last year would have been a lot better for him had we let him take the LT spot then, kicked BA inside and then let him start adjusting to the NFL speed at LT then. I dont think the OG position did anything for him except set his learning curve back a little.

I have been encouraged by how Ryan has played. He’s still missing plays and has been turning the ball over too much. But, he’s also been making some really nice throws/runs and managing the pocket better. Now, he just needs to do it in big down/game situations consistently over time. If he can somehow end the season as a top 10 QB I’ll be happy with that. That will be a nice progression to his career.

So Tanny gets credit for two hand offs for TDs which completely inflated a very mediocre stat line but Fitzpatrick doesn’t get credit for his “garbage time” stats in a game they almost came back and won? Lol Ok! You guys always want your cake and to eat it too when it comes to Tanny. One week it’s not about stats when he throws for 160 yards and the next week it’s ALL about the stats when he gets credit for 2 TDs that he really had very little to do with. I get it. I think he’s showed improvement and is playing well for the most part. If he can keep contributing to wins, he’ll be doing his job.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

even if you take away those plays, which you cannot, it’s like taking away an interception that the WR has stripped out of his hands, it is still an Int, that is still a “mediocre” 76.19% completion and 113.8 passer rating.

Mike, yep, Belicheat is the X factor. He likes to take away a team’s favorite option on offense. Well that won’t work against us. We spread it around. As for D, they very well may get a cheap score on something they pick up in the film room. I think that is what happened to us against the Raiders. They noticed something on film, and took advantage early with Nelson. We adjusted and Nelson didn’t do much after that.

I agree with what you said about executing and not shooting ourselves in the foot. I honestly think that is the key to a Dolphins victory. If we play our game, keep the penalties low, and not get out of our game, I love our chances on Sunday. I actually think we can win this game by two scores if we get out to a good start.

If we get a bunch of presnap penalties, fall behind in down and distance too often, and kill our own drives, then it will be a tight game.

  41. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I don’t remember the time left when Wilson scored, but in no way do I want my player to stop at the one, UNLESS we can literally run the clock out. There is no guarantee you can punch it in the endzone and a FG only puts us up 7.

My stance remains that passer rating is a TEAM stat on the efficiency of the passing game not a single player. It is not QBR it is PR.

  56. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

FYI – Tannehill has been getting get some props and recognition in NFL circle. Last night, I heard Bill Polian say “Ryan Tannehill is a much better than average QB when healthy, and right now he’s healthy, and he’s playing great football”. This morning on Joe and Evan on WFAN, Evan sounded like Rock, Tim or myself saying “Tannehill is now 10-1 in his last 11 games, and he’s playing really well now, now let’s see what he does in NE”.

It would be a huge disappointment if Tanny has a clunker of a game this week. He needs to play at or near the level he’s been playing, or all those people saying good things will turn on him faster than Jakeem Grant! I hope he has a fantastic game, and buries the Patriots, maybe even enough to have Osweiler play a lil in the 4th. Wouldn’t that be sumpin?

  57. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I think Tannehills main problem is his delays in getting rid of the ball, IMO he’s a little slow at identifying a target and releasing the ball.

    • D's avatar D says:

That and he gets really insistent sometimes of having one route open up and not realizing that the play has hit the number of seconds that its prudent to start thinking about check-down. I see him with a wide open check-down a lot on plays he usually takes a sack.

Yeah im a big fan of “bird in hand” when it comes to football, but again, its a good strategy to do it the other too. You just got to know when it is and when its not the right time to make the call. If there were 00:30 left and i had the ball i probably give myself up at the one to seal the win for the team, but that wasnt the scenario then.

  63. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

ANYWAY (LOL), Gore is within striking distance of overtaking the great Barry Sanders for #3 on the all-time rushing list. He likely won’t do it this year, but he’s already stated that he’d be interested in continuing his career after this season.

    • D's avatar D says:

He could definitely get it in 2 seasons, id love for him to get it this season too, but i am not seeing it happening at this rate.

  64. D's avatar D says:

I cant see anyone catching Emmitt. I believe Emmitt is one of the more underrated guys too. You hear Payton talked about like a God, you hear Sanders taled about like the GOAT. Hell most people make a bigger deal out of LT, Peterson, etc and yet that rushing yardage total that Emmitt has is staggering. I dont take anything from those other guys, i agree Walter Payton was a bad ass RB and a helluva good person, but Emmit deserves respect too and to me he a lot of times gets mentioned after the fact, when people are like oh year i just mentioned Sanders and Payton i guess i should also mention the guy thats ahead of them on the all time rushing list lol

  65. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

  66. Gore is still quite effective, but the clocks ticking, He doesn’t have more than one season IMO before he decides enough is enough, and walks away while He still can. Not many 35 year old RB,s come back again for another year, and Gore is the oldest RB in the NFL.
The dudes an incredible freakish athlete to last for so many years at a position where others don’t or can’t .
It’s almost a miracle of sorts

  67. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Good job, Mike! However I don’t think we were that bad against OAK in the run game – Lynch 19-64 and 32 -109 overall. They had the ball all day and that’s what they had in the run game. I don’t agree with 200 yards if Lynch didn’t get a breather.

    • D's avatar D says:

Lynch is a scary back sometimes. It was pretty 50/50 with us, he get us,drag us, run over us for one play and then we would get him in the backfield for another or stop him stone cold at the line. You definitely could feel the momentum swing with him after our DL took a couple injuries and got thin enough we couldn’t rotate effectively.

  68. D's avatar D says:

I think the deal with Landry is, yes Wilson is an upgrade. He fits the offense better. He can do plays for us that Landry couldn’t. What it boils down to is he was not the person Gase felt best suited us and probably for a bunch of reasons. I still think Landry is an excellent receiver, but im really happy that we have Wilson instead.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

It’s not Wilson versus Landry though. We got Wilson plus Amendola with some change back. And Amendola is filling the role Landry had more than Wilson, but that is part of the deal cause Wilson ain’t Landry.

      • Correct Stanger, also RT is a huge upgrade over Cutler and Moore, HUGE.
Our receivers are benefiting from great QB play this year , and great play calling too.
With Landry, how many times did we target him near the LOS on third and long?
Those are bad play calls, wtf, we all bitched at them. But now We are opening up the greatest show on turf playbook, and rolling wide open with it.
For a myriad of reasons, I believe this Dolphin team is superior than any We have seen in decades

  69. One of the keys to our 3-0 is goal line stops, and turnovers. We excel in these situations.
Jests had a 97 yard drive that netted zero points, lol.
    Bend but don’t break defense

  70. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Randy, how is Tannehill turning the ball over too much?

  71. I love Albert Wilson, He’s one of the best in the NFL period. Of course I’m happy he is here, and I understand what was done. But instead of badmouthing Landry for his excellent minimum wage service, I’m thankful he gave so much, even if the team exploited his services with Peanut pay while giving tens of millions of dollars to fat ass lineman that play when they feel like it.
I don’t have kind words for Suh and Pouncey, they should pay us back for their overpaid garbage service

  72. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

D, I agree on Emmitt Smith. A lot of people always said it was because the Cowboys OL was so good. Some years yes they were but if you watched Emmitt play he made a ton of big runs because of his skills and he was a friggin warrior.

    • I didn’t watch every one of emit Smith games, but I saw maybe a dozen at least. And it seemed that 90 percent of the time Emmit wouldn’t play the second half, some kind of injury.
He just have always got hurt whenl I was watching, or he was injury prone, not sure which?

  73. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    David,
We never paid Landry a dime over minimum wage, NEVER.

I’m not sure 2nd round pick rookie wage scale is Vet minimum wage, but I think I get your point.

  74. I agree with Phel, anything less than total domination against the cheats will be a letdown.
I watched Miamis games, and I watched the cheats games on game pass.
The Dolphins are a much better team, so I believe it would be an upset if Cheats win.
I haven’t forgotten cheats past success, nor our past futility,
it’s 2018, and things have changed.

He did have 2 fumbles in the Jets game, but only was 1 recovered by the Jets.
    ——————————————————-
Im still not a fan of how he protects the ball, which i believe is not having natural instincts for the pocket, but shit happens sometimes and as long as he is cleaning it up, im ok with it. Just with all of us, we are works in progress buit in our own lives and in our professions and as long as he makes steps forward, ie is progressing, thats all you can ask. There is a timeframe to where super slo mo progress doesnt cover it, but i think he has made some nice improvements in areas i had him as needing work so, so far im pretty satisfied withhow he has played.

Fitzpatrick “almost”coming back to win is something? He put the team down to begin with, then blew it in the end.

If you dont want to use stats then how has Fitzpatrick outplayed RT17? There’s a reason he didnt dress like fucking Conor McGregor after that loss. LOL

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

ER — you still considering the Fest? Still have tickets for you…. and with what the team has done at a real good price.

  77. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Tannehill has lost one fumble and thrown two pick this year. half the quarterbacks in the league have more turnovers than he does.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s what I’m saying. QBs turn the ball over more than any other position because they touch the ball more than any other position, but Tannehill this year is nowhere near the top in this category. Man he just can’t ever get any credit for improved play especially from Dolfans. It’s amazing!

  78. I’m sure I would have seen every single game of Smiths if Miami drafted him, lol
Miami didn’t need Smith, We had, um someone I think, lol. Yea, We could have used him for sure

  79. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Yes, he did get the absolute minimum we had to pay him for being a second round pick.

David, EVERY draft pick gets the absolute minimum the team has to pay them. That is how the wage scale works. The Dolphins should have paid him more just to be good bosses?? I don’t get your point at all now.

They are not cheep at all. It was reported that the team offered him between 12-14M He wanted more and he’s not worth more in today’s NFL so I do not blame the team at all. YOU seem to have some hard feelings about it. Did you buy a #14 Jersey last year or something?

    • The point is people don’t seem grateful the man gave his all for 4 years, with his pay being literal minimum for his selection. To make matters more intolerable, there isn’t mention of how overpaid Suh and Pouncey were, and how little they contributed.
Point, Landry wasn’t our problem , Suh and Pouncey was. The entire planet swore the Fin were nucking futswhen they saw Suh contract, remember?
anyone know how much Suh and Pounce got from us? It’s an insane amount by any measure

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

everyone, EVERYONE plays for the “literal minimum” as you put it. EVERYONE

This was not the Dolphins or their fans disrespecting the player. He did’t get to his second contract with the team because he had an over inflated perception of his value to the team.

BTW I pounded the drum from before we acquired him that Suh was not worth the money and I was glad they got rid of Pouncey too because I thought he was over paid.

But that is apples and bananas man, not apples and apples.

Landry priced himself out of Miami and acted an ass after he left saying Tyrod Taylor is a “real” QB and telling lies about Tannehill never getting guys together to work out in the off-season.

  80. I googled Emmit Smith Injuries, there are a lot for surE. One season he. Missed 6 games, other seasons a game or two or parts of games.
I’m not knocking the guy, I actually wish I would have seen him healthy more often, and injuries suck!
I think it was the 81 championship game against the niners I saw the best performance of Smith, when he had 80 yards receiving, and 86 yards rushing, then exited the game early in the fourth quarter.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Dude, Emmitt was drafted in 1990. He played in 219 out of 226 games in his career. You sure you’re not confusing him with someone else? LOL

    • D's avatar D says:

I dont know if he would have been the same guy for us that he was for the Cowboys, but i still remember that draft despite still being in like JR High, and i cringed when they took Sammy Smith instead of Emmitt. Part of it was Emmitt was a Gator and Sammy was a Semihole, but i also thought that Emmitt was a better back, i had watched for UF games and i knew how good he was.

    • No, i googled it, I explained I didn’t watch every game, lol did You?
I don’t really like cowboys, never did, just watch the game if that was all there was to watch
It seems like I’m being questioned for not watching all of his games, I already admitted that a cpl times, it’s not a big deal I didn’t see every snap count of his career

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

I saw Emmitt play quite a few games. I just think you saw him get hurt a few times and it’s stuck in your mind but does not represent his entire career. The dude had over 300 rushes in a season 7 times and 6 seasons over 250 playing 15 seasons. He was the epitome of a workhorse back.

I was blown away when I saw the Raiders rushing stats after the game. During the game it seemed like they were running all over us, but their stats were pretty pedestrian.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

It was a handful of plays. Other than that we stuffed them pretty well.

Jordy Nelson who seemed invisible to our defense early on was the one killing us. Other than that, I thought our defense did a good job overall against them short-handed.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It just felt like Lynch was getting 5-7 yds every run, but obviously that wasn’t the case, lol. One of those ‘in the moment’ things.

  83. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Emmitt was the best ‘get you 4 yds’ guy ever. He wasn’t flashy, but he always got you 3-4 even if it wasn’t there. And he played for 80 years. I imagine he would be Rob’s perfect powerback, because the style of play Rob likes is exactly what Smith excelled at.

    • D's avatar D says:

I actually was going to say that exact thing. He had a good jump cut, and he had some lateral skills too but he could punch it in for 4 right into a wad of people as good as anyone.

  85. When Emmit played, I didn’t have game pass, computer streaming, lol or none of the modern conveniences We now have. You had to either watch a special game or a playoff game, or there wasn’t a way to see them. I didn’t want to watch all of cowboys games, I was much too busy watching the Dolphin games

  86. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I was entirely ok with Landry going for the money. It’s a business and every player deserves to make that choice for themselves and not be criticized for it IMO.

Once he started badmouthing the Fins though it changed everything, and I lost all respect for him. The contract he signed was earned playing here. That guy can straight up f*ck off.

    • D's avatar D says:

I dont like what he did, but things can get ugly in situation like that. It really shows he is immature, which a lot of us already knew that. I still cant change how i feel abotu the player because of his personality. I can only say i think its better we parted ways instead of continuing to deal with that. OBJ got paid by the Giants but i also think that when it comes around time for him to think he deserves more, they are going to deal with his shit again. Jarvis will be the same basic thing when his contract runs out, whatever he thinks he is worth better be met by the Browns or he will go elsewhere and he will likely talk abotu how they let him slip through their fingers.

  87. D's avatar D says:

Barry Sanders was way before his time, he was like watching a live version of the current Madden running backs, double cut jukes, spin moves, shaking people right out of their shoes. I have a lot of respect for him too. He also has a rediculous 5+ YPC career…. Emmits isnt shabby either at 4.2

    • D's avatar D says:

I cant even think of a current running back that is like Barry, not truly. Bell is completely different though he can make some people look stupid in the open field. Jamal Charles in his prime was Sandersish, but he really wasnt the full package that Sanders was.

ER, I think I found the employees you lost. They were all hiding in that freaking awesome break-room you built.

  89. Miami signed Suh to a 114 million dollar contract, 60 million guaranteed! The guaranteed part is about 30 times more than Landry made in his 4 years! This is a huge differance that gets overlooked in the let’s bash Landry for too much money, and Pouncey was much much more than Landry also.
Pouncey sucked, injured often, and dealing drugs and causing problems with our OL, remember Martin and Incognito? Cog took the blame and had to go and Pouncey got off with a big fat paycheck every week.

    • Was Suh 30 times better than Landry? I never saw that and I DID see all the games

      • D's avatar D says:

I dont know with those metrics because you are comparing a bargain basement deal with a established vet commodity where pay in those ranges aren’t unheard of (even though we did give him the most ever at that time). Still if im evaluation it like this, overpay this guy or this other guy, your choice, im taking Suh lol.

      • D's avatar D says:

I say that really likeing Landry too. Suh is a man among boys though. I just wish we had been in a better place to made use of him, the way the Rams are now. If you watched that most recent Rams game you would know what i mean.

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

I think the disconnect here is MOST agree that Suh was not worth the money. MOST of the rest of us agree that Landry was not worth what he got paid by the brown stains.

apples and oranges argument. NEITHER were worth the pay, but Miami only fucked up on one of the deals.

Tim – I just felt that every time they pulled Marshawn out, and subbed him with Richard, we plugged him up. I forget who said it during the game, but it made me spit Captain Morgan out my nose at the time something like “Jordy Nelson has acquired the elven cloak of invisibility”

    • D's avatar D says:

He was sitting down in perfect spots it exploit the coverage. When they talk about running perfect route and football IQ with a WR, thats the stuff they are talking about. Once of the big catches may have been Minkah shading too far over on his zone to help out McTyer though, and not really because Nelson rand such a perfect route, but it was good enough that one little mistake burned us.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

LOL… not sure who said that but I was saying to myself during the game does Jordy Nelson have a hyper space button or something? LOL

  92. ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

  93. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

For the mathematically challenged that responded above, there were 2 minutes left, so 2 minute warning, Raiders had no time outs left. You take a knee on 3 straight plays that’s 120 seconds plus whatever the play takes to run game over.

  94. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Emmitt Smith had a fantastic O-line to run behind. IMO, Walter Payton didn’t have that, and he also didn’t have Aikman, Irvin, Novacek and Daryl Johnston. Sweetness WAS the Bears offense, they knew he was running, and they couldn’t stop him anyway.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think most would put Sweetness above Emmitt. The only rb I watched play I would put above Payton is Sanders. Never saw brown because im not100, so I don’t count him, lol.

  95. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

If you watched that most recent Rams game you would know what i mean.

I guess you would have to, because he STILL DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE STAT SHEET. Suh was and is over paid. We are getting more out of a 5 & 6th round pick than the rams are getting out of Suh.

    • D's avatar D says:

He was overpaid because we didnt have the rest of the defense that would have really made what we spent worth it. Not because Suh wasnt worth it but because we had no plan of how to use him to turn a defense from an already good one to a beast of one. We didnt have the already good one to start with. The Rams did, so he just makes it a whole level better. You dont believe DT’s should get paid that much, but the elite ones one every team are getting pat what we paid Suh and more. Its just what it is mane.

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

  96. It’s possible Landry was pissed we paid 10 million for Cutler too. Cutler was Five times better than Landry? This is prolly some of the reasons Landry hates Miami, they extremely overpaid slackers and broadcast booth announcers that couldn’t perform, and his paychecks were an absolute joke compared to theirs

  97. Suh and Pouncey ate up too way much of our cap, and prevented us from bringing in players we needed
