2018 Season – Game 10 – Dolphins @ Packers

I was watching Good Morning Football this morning on NFLN, and after showing highlights of the Panthers vs Bucs (42-28), and Saints vs Rams (45-35), yeah, it looks pretty wrong seeing 13-6, Dolphins over Jets.  Kay Adams and Kyle Brandt presented it as a good ole 1990’s defensive struggle, a throwback.  They got it all wrong, this wasn’t a defensive struggle, it was an offensive struggle.  Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold didn’t get the memo that his team was wearing the white jerseys, because he threw better passes to the dark jerseys than he did to the white jerseys.  If you want to credit our pass rush, which actually existed yesterday, feel free to do so.  On our side, we couldn’t block (run or pass), we got one defensive TD and two FG’s.  Light it up!

I’m not singling anyone out here, but our O-line play was just terrible, and of course as per usghe, injuries were the reason for this.  Both tackles missed time in this game forcing Zach Sterup to man both the RT spot when James was hurt, and then slide over to the LT spot when James came back in and Laremy Tunsil got hurt.  So now Brock Osweiler, who I will say has better pocket awareness than Ryan Tannehill has ever had, has no pocket awareness because players were on him in 1 second or less.  Our O-line isn’t good with all our starters in there, but subtract one of our tackles, who are our 2 best OL, Tunsil #1, James #2, it really goes downhill.

I don’t want to knock the optimists here, because it’s wonderful that fans can still believe we’re in this, but I laugh inside  (a sad laugh) when fans say “Oh, not good, the Chargers won, gonna be tough to catch them”.  From what I have seen this year, we don’t belong on the same field as the Chargers, they score 28 PPG, and we’ve scored more just once this year, in OT, and never more in regulation.  We’ve had injuries, but we still have Devante Parker, Kenny Stills, Jakeem Grant, David Amendola, and Mike Gesicki.  We have Frank Gore and Kenyan Drake, a formidable 1-2 punch, yet our offense is putrid.  Yeah, we’re 5-4, easily the worst 5-4 team in the NFL.  We’re the only 5-4 team.

My guess is we’re probably going to have Brock Osweiler as QB one more time as we hit the BYE week, and then after the BYE, it will be Ryan Tannehill’s team once again.  We travel this week to Wisconsin to take on the Packers in their house.  This is an angry Pack team, having lost to the Patriots in Foxboro.  Anyone know who the OC is for GB?  Tee-hee, it’s Joe Philbin.  Not even kidding.  Possibly, this explains how the GB Packers are only scoring 24 PPG, just a few more than our Dolphins.  Hey, is it bad that Saints WR Michael Thomas accounted for more yardage and scoring by himself with 211 yards and 1 TD, while we accumulated as a team 203 yards and no TD’s?

It’s easy for Belichick to do whatever he wants, he’s beyond reproach at this point, no one questions the master.  How smart does he look using Cordarrelle Patterson as a RB?  Can we get some of that ingenuity from our offensive genius Adam Gase?  Don’t bet on it.    I wish he would read this and it would inspire him, but I won’t bet on that either!  I wish something would inspire him, maybe keeping his job, something like that.

I know Toba, Bookman and ER are attending the GB game, I hope they enjoy and I hope our team gives them a great game to watch and a Dolphins victory!  Enjoy fellas, way to represent!

    Yes they are called fags
I refuse to be censored or politically correct! 🙂

    • manitobafinfan says:

LMAO. Saright, even 4-5 years after meeting Stanger in person , I was shocked that his former Avi was not a young Him .. who knew ?! 🤨

  2. manitobafinfan says:

Interesting, why are senators 6 when presidential is 4 ?? To avoid collusion?

  3. ElephantRider says:

    LMAO @ Phelon

  4. manitobafinfan says:

Senate of Canada consists of 105 members appointed by the Governor General on the advice of the Prime Minister.

So ours are not even elected 🤔

  5. Rockphin says:

Toba, the US founding fathers set it up that way on purpose. The Senate is 6 year term. 1/3rd of the senate comes up for election every two years. Some election cycles a state will not have a senate race because there are two per state.

The House comes up every two years so it’s a freeforall (but not really because incumbents tend to keep winning.) but the potential is there to tern over every seat on the house every election.

The presidential elections are every 4 years, a number between the 6 and 2 to provide balance and the ability for the government to evolve and change without destabilizing volatility.

    • manitobafinfan says:

Thank you sir that makes it very clear and an intelligent process.. so is there a Max term on these guys ? Or just the Prez ?

      • Tim Knight says:

Nope senators and house can be elected over and over for life. That’s why Americans are always calling for term limits. You get these old set in their way type peeps who become part of what we refer to as the “establishment”.

  6. Rockphin says:

Toba, just the pres is limited to two terms. House and Senate can and do hold seats for decades. two years or six years at a time.

  7. manitobafinfan says:

We get to keep electing our leader as long as we feel like it ..Our current Prime Minister’s father Pierre was the third longest-serving Prime Minister in Canadian history, having served for 15 years, 164 days … I always though he was the longest … hello Siri ??

  8. Rockphin says:

Also, the Senate has 100 seats two from each state regardless of population so that every state get’s an equal vote. The Vice president gets to make tie breaking votes but doesn’t get a vote unless there is a tie.

The house is based upon population and grows and is redistricted after every census so it makes it more fair on a percentage of total population perspective. There are currently 435 seats in the house.

  9. manitobafinfan says:

William Lyon Mackenzie King served 21 years and 154 days in office, he was the longest-serving prime minister in Canadian history

Look at you guys making me look shit up

  10. manitobafinfan says:

    Interesting shit , thanks guys

    • Mike E. says:

I don’t remember half this shit to be honest

    • wyoming85 says:

Oh I don’t know if interesting is the word I’d use!
For some of us it means 1.5 years of not having to hear the crap slinging!!!!!!!

      • manitobafinfan says:

I dunno from a Northern perspective it seems you guys are always at the polls… in comparison to what I have now looked up on our system , I can see why it feels that way

  11. Rockphin says:

so you guys can call for an election when ever?

Do you do it on twitter or what? LOL

Guys, new election? thumbs up or down?

    • Tim Knight says:

They vote in between hockey periods.

    • manitobafinfan says:

I’m wearing out BING .. lol

There are no fixed election dates. The prime Minister can call an election at any time, but must do so before the 5th year.

Not sure what this means either
      vvvvv

Minority governments can fall at any time and cause an election.Majority goverments last about 41/2 years with out an election.Minority governments can last 6months to a couple of years.

      • Rockphin says:

so the parties (I assume more than two) must create voting blocks to become a majority government or it will be more vulnerable to turn over?

      • Tim Knight says:

You guys are a Parliament system right? Y’all still in bed with the Queen of England? LOL

  12. Rockphin says:

Sorry, son of a History professor and a Civics teacher. Back to your regularly scheduled bickering about which QB sucks more. LOL

  13. manitobafinfan says:

Rock : more a case of if two unelected parties hold more seats together than in power party , they can combine and have an election called ..

Three national Parties Liberals, Progressive Conservatives (PC Party) << name was around before PC took over the world as we know it, and the New Democrat Party (NDP)… NDP has never been in power…

In the 2011 federal election under the leadership of Jack Layton, the NDP won the second-most seats in the House of Commons, gaining the position of Official Opposition for the first time in the party's history. The NDP then lost 59 seats during the 2015 federal election and fell to third place in Parliament, though it is their second best seat count to date.

    • manitobafinfan says:

We also have the Quebec based Partie Québécois.. with the size of the province they have out seated the NDP on a few occasions .. they were formed with the purpose to get Quebec as its own Country ,, hasn’t quite worked out yet 🤐

  14. Rockphin says:

Sorry Toba, there are always 435 seats, but they are rearranged by population.

  15. manitobafinfan says:

Tim : to an extent yes we are under the British Monarchy.. , not they hold any power over us as far as I know, I think once Lizzie passes that will come to an end ..

  16. Tim Knight says:

Rock, now please explain to Toba the electoral college for presidential elections. LOL

  17. manitobafinfan says:

I will be happy to see a healthy RT back in power ( I know , what power) of our Dolphins Offense

  18. pheloniusphish says:

The Electorl College was designed to get large population centers (originally NY) from controlling the national direction. Serves the same purpose today.

I absolutely couldn’t agree more, Phelon. As such, one of my very favorite listens is Mark Levin (Constitutional scholar).

  20. wyoming85 says:

Us folks from the Less populated states love the electoral college!

    • Tim Knight says:

Of course and you should, we all should. The heartland deserves a say in who our president is. You can’t let California (larger population than Canada), Texas, Florida and New York decide the presidential election for the other 46 states. Those 4 states account for 1/3 of the U.S. population.

  21. manitobafinfan says:

On a completely different track… i was surprised talking music with Mike E and Phindog at the Fest , that neither had heard of Canadian musical Icons , Tragically Hip, Max Webster or Max Webster’s head man who went solo , Kim Mitchell.. also another good band ya may want to look up , the Headstones .. just a random SQUIRREL thought..

  25. mf13ss says:

LMFAO! Former Libertarian presidential candidate and former Governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson is in third place in New Mexico’s senate race, with a mere 15% this evening!!! His own PEOPLE don’t even trust him!!! 😆

    • Tim Knight says:

That’s actually high for Libertarians because people don’t have the balls or lips to vote outside the box anymore. The two party duopoly marches on. He was governor of New Mexico because ran and won as a Republican. You can only use two tags to win a seat in this country. Sad!

      • mf13ss says:

My BROTHER! We’re talking about someone who was elected as Governor of NM and someone who had enough support/resources so as to run for the Presidency as a Libertarian. That he’s FALLEN SO FAR (15%/3rd place in his home state) as a potential Senator is what’s laughable! The dude is a JOKE!

      • mf13ss says:

Now THAT said by me just above, I don’t disagree with what you’re saying… not ONE bit, man! 🙂

It’s just that Gary Johnson is just a bloody JOKE.

      • ElephantRider says:

Our Lib candidate will be lucky to get 1% here.

  26. manitobafinfan says:

Your electoral college thing is kinda like why Toronto is broken into 170000 different sub cities with each having its own Mayor.. they didn’t want 1 person having that much power …

    • Tim Knight says:

That’s kind of the idea because we’re talking about 326M people here. It prevents the heavily populated cities and states from dominating the will of the entire country. The electoral college gives a voice to small towns all across the country. Much of the time bigger states, but less population. It’s an equality provision. It only get’s questioned when a party loses the presidential election with a majority population vote even though we’ve been doing it that way for over 200 years. LOL

  27. mf13ss says:

And THAT’S all the more political commentary you’ll get from me this evening. I just wanted to highlight how the GREAT Gary Johnson was doing in his home state of New Mexico tonight, now running as a senator.

I didn’t make it Rep vs Dem, nor Lib vs Con, and certainly not trying to be divisive with all that’s going on with the midterm elections tonight. We don’t even have a say in the New Mexico elections, unless our old friend NM is still around making ‘smoke signals’! I’m just making an observation… while obviously LOL!

  28. Tim Knight says:

M13, I agree Gary Johnson is not the sharpest dude. That’s the problem with Libertarian candidates, not libertarians. You get goof ball candidates. But let’s be honest we get that with Republicans and Democrats too – crooks, racists, sleaze balls and anti-Americans.

  29. mf13ss says:

    ElephantRider says:

    ——————
I DO hear you and Tim. And I’m every bit as upset with the “duopoly” as ANYONE. I’ve got two words to share with y’all: TERM LIMITS!

    • Tim Knight says:

Who votes for term limits? The duopoly. It would have to be a Constitutional amendment and that’s not easy. We The People don’t get to make that happen though the majority wants it.

      • mf13ss says:

I ask… could it be done by executive order? I don’t know, which is why I ask.

      • mf13ss says:

And before you answer me… yes, that would certainly be a death sentence for the President who issues such an order.

      • Tim Knight says:

It’s an oxymoron. Hey you, vote yourself out of what you want to be for the next 30-40 years. Reply: Yeah okay, NOT!

  30. mf13ss says:

    Back to football for me!

    • Tim Knight says:

Hey it’s election night and nobody is ripping on anyone. We should be able to discuss the issues our country faces. NJ just voted for a corrupt Senator in Bob Menendez who has been indicted on corruption charges and accused of other unethical behavior for years, and I knew it would happen. Ethics out the window. People see only red or blue.

But if it’s back to football for you, that’s your right. 🙂

    the big crunch,

at the top of your back swing your first move down should be a right side oblique crunch, taking your right elbow and coming straight down with it into your right ribs creating a right side crunch maneuver, ( for right handers) after that swing away!

this will propel your hips forward, shallow your club and give you a great low path to impact. will also get your weight on your left side for a great finish.

  34. ocalarob says:

    • bookman11 says:

All seats are season tickets in GB, however, you can get them through ticket brokers and such, or need to know someone. Depending on how well they are doing, and weather conditions…….prices can be reasonable.

  37. The Flying Pig says:

Are you guys actually mocking a 3rd party candidate for getting 15% of the vote for US senate?

Do you know how unusual that is?

Since the civil war there have been 30 us senators who weren’t a part of the major parties to serve

15% by a 3rd party is a heck of an accomplishment

To do it in the Southwest is really unusual as well
Since 1990 there have been 5 senators
4 from New England and 1 from Minnesota

    I don’t think there’s ever been a libertarian candidate

I am taking a bus from Tanner’s to the game. Will probably get dropped off next to the stadium near Kroll’s. Hopefully I will be able to meet up Saturday in the afternoon when Toba gets to your restaurant. ( I have a dinner engagement Saturday night that I cannot miss)

    Ok one political post!

Think about this and look up the maps!

This country is split between “city folk” and “country folks”!

    • Mike E. says:

Don’t lump me in with city folk, even though I grew up in the city! Agree though, it’s that way all the time, and it probably won’t be changing any time soon. The coasts are blue, the middle is red.

      • wyoming85 says:

        I’t’s not so Red anymore!
Texas is Red except Dallas, Austin. Houston!
Wyoming is Red except, Jackson Hole, Laramie!

  41. wyoming85 says:

I don’t know if this is a good thing or not???

      • bookman11 says:

Yeah, normally you would like to see a person who wins an ward win it again the next week…….not this one though. LOL (Specifically that it is a punter that is).

  42. Mike E. says:

Wyo – Oh, so you’re talking about within each state? Gotcha. It’s probably pretty similar to the coasts vs middle. Cities are blue, country red, ya?

    Seven punts…NOT GOOD

    All inside the 20? good….

  44. wyoming85 says:

    I have a theory Mike E
    I don’t think it’s very ground breaking!
I think it stems from the issues that are faced in your everyday life.

  45. Rockphin says:

Haack punted nine times in the 13-6 victory against the Jets and had seven punts inside the 20, tying his own Dolphins record. Haack is the only NFL punter with seven punts inside the 20 in a game since 2015.

TYING HIS OWN RECORD! Which means he had another game where our offense was just as inept! (he is the only punter since 2015 to do it and he has done it twice this year! ) SMH

  48. Mike E. says:

Just so y’all know, Osweiler’s completion pct is only a couple of ticks less than Tannehill’s, at 63.8% compared to Tannehill’s 65.9%. QB rating also just a couple of ticks less at 91.1 compared to Tannehill’s 92.9. Like I’ve said, there really isn’t a huge drop off between the two, as opposed to what some say.

    • Mike E. says:

Plus – Tannehill has more turnovers than Osweiler 3 lost fumbles and 5 INT’s, for a total of 8 TO’s as compared to 3 INT’s for Osweiler and no fumbles lost.

  49. Mike E. says:

Also important, I don’t think Osweiler is all that, or the answer, but I don’t want to hear how much better Tannehill is, because he isn’t. Or at least he hasn’t been this season, which is the only relevant thing.

Whichever side you fall on – it’s a horrible dynamic
    There’s always been a little
But wow has it escalated to an extreme

I don’t think if you look at issues, per se, they have any relationship with the region

  52. The Flying Pig says:

Best story of the night last night

  53. wyoming85 says:

    Pigs
There is definitely a difference in the daily issues from “country” living and “city” living!
    The maps don’t lie.
If you vote “right” you should back the runner that bests represents your issues.

    That’s just my 2 pennies

    • stangerx says:

Wyoming — no doubt at all that among the camps that were there before and are becoming more entrenched are urban v rural. But that is just one. Saddens me how a key part of politics (both sides) now is to divide and create your own armed fortress.

    • The Flying Pig says:

I know the maps don’t lie
and culturally people certainly have differences -no question
And every one should vote on what serves their interests

but theoretically the issues themselves should be no different between rural and urban America unless they are specifically distinguishable bc of the way people live in those areas – which I don’t think most political issues are

      For instance:
tax reform (or amendment) should be no different
pro life v pro choice should be no different

Why people feel so differently about these issues based on where they live is odd (and interesting) to me

The issues themselves are not inherently different depending on where some one lives

Its just the way people feel about those issues

the one issue where I can think of a distinction between city and rural living is 2nd amendment issues (generally) – bc some one like me on a crowded NYC subway doesn’t want the next Plaaxico Burress – but that’s not a threat to some one who doesn’t live in an urban setting. And of course police responsiveness to an emergency is radically different depending on how close the police are (and they are around every corner in NYC) So I get the differences there, they make sense for people to feel differently based on region

but most other issues can’t be reduced to difference between where people live and the way they live regionally

I don’t know if I was clear – I was agreeing with you
I am just sayin its an increasingly alarming trend

and I think the driving force is tribalism rather than pragmatism

My sister-in-law who is black along with her daughter, sister and some nieces went out west about a year ago. They are all hardcore Democrats. However they had an eye opening experience about what rural red state life is all about and they came away understanding it more then they did previously. Not all stereotypes are true. They said everyone was very nice even though you don’t exactly see a lot of black people in Utah, Wyoming etc. In fact they didn’t see any. LOL

Moral of the story is America is very diverse and different in many ways throughout the land and there is nothing wrong with that.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      I think its fine
      Cultural diversity is great

I just don’t think the way the map ends up on election day is a good thing

its hard to believe that some one living in the most rural area and some one in the most urban areas – can have two completely different interpretations on how the 14th amendment should be interpreted….lol

In other words what the fuck does that have to do with where you live. That’s my point.

More and more we see this regional divide and that’s a problem for a democratic republic that seeks to be a union

      • wyoming85 says:

        Why is that local

No I didn’t. I’m glad you reposted this. I will google it and see what is up. Do you know who was doing the TV adaptation? When MTV did the TV adaptation of the Shannara books it was just awful. The two lead actresses were gorgeous but the acting was bad.

  60. Rockphin says:

Huh, seems Feist’s newest book is set in a completely new world. I will wait until it comes out in paper back and then read it. I enjoy his writing style and character development but sometimes when an author I like writes in a “different world” it winds up being flat for me. I’ll still check him out. I mean I read his 20+ other novels.

  61. Mike E. says:

    This just sounds odd, right?

  62. drg says:

    Pig,

I think you nailed it. It’s mostly tribalism these days. Read an interesting article the other day that studies show people formulate their opinions based on what their party says rather than choose a party that fits their ideals.

I honestly don’t understand why at least 50% of the country doesn’t identify as independent. Should be even larger, IMO.

    • ElephantRider says:

Funny thing is most of us are actually independent. They 2 parties have gone to far each direction, while majority of people I believe are very moderate.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      I’m actually independent – so I agree
I hate identifying with a party

but these days I find myself butting heads with republicans, so lately I have aligned with democrats but that has not always been my leanings and I refuse to register as a part of one party

I’ve been on a ton of rants on this blog about how much I hate a system where two parties dominate
      – frankly I think that contributes to tribalism

Please, please, less like Shannara Chronicles and more like GOT.

    I agree 110%

  65. Mike E. says:

Phelon – Sounds like Gase is pissed at Tannehill, or at least the situation itself, right?

  66. D says:

I think the desire for Tanny to become what all of us at one time or the other had hoped he would blinds us to the fact that he isnt all that, and definitely not the stopping point if your franchise is serious about having a good QB at the helm. If thats not what they want, then they should just come out and say it “we want to win despite the QB situation, QB isnt important to us” and then they need to get a guy who doesnt cost 26mil and just keep rolling along. If they do care, then quit pussy footing around the subject, stop caring about hurt feelings and get on with this shit.

  67. Mike E. says:

Piggy – I think tribalism naturally occurs. I saw it where I grew up in Brooklyn, the Russian immigrants basically took over Brighton beach, and it became known as Little Odessa. We had a business in the are for many years, and the Russians wouldn’t come in to our store until we hired Russian people, they preferred to deal with their own, and little by little as more and more immigrants came in, they opened up their own travel businesses, including some of the very people we trained. I think it’s normal, although I know you’re saying it in a negative way. People associate with those like them, it’s easier.

    • The Flying Pig says:

But do you think its worst than ever in terms of politics?

      • Mike E. says:

If you mean do I think people have declared sides, no question about it. Despite the fact that many of us probably share some of the same beliefs on some issues, yes, the stance to be either one or the other is probably at an all time high. It’s like battle lines, us against them.

      • Mike E. says:

I’m guilty of it myself sometimes, especially when I talk to my older son, because he’s super liberal, and some of the things he says drive me crazy, and vice versa.

      • The Flying Pig says:

We are all guilty of it.

Well why can’t the reporters just ask Tannehill themselves? Why do they need to ask Gase?

Because he is not practicing or playing so the team does not make him available for press conferences. Unless a reporter has Tanny’s home phone number (do you think Tanny would give Armando or the Braided Coconut his number?) then they have no other access.

    • Mike E. says:

I just assumed he was there at practices watching, even if he can’t participate. You’d think that would be mandatory.

      • Rockphin says:

yeah, but the reporters only get to sit in a certain spot for the “open” portion of practice and then they have access to ONLY the players and coaches that the team approves that day.

  71. Rockphin says:

the stance to be either one or the other is probably at an all time high.

well, maybe an all time high since April 12, 1861?? You mean AFTER that right?

  72. stangerx says:

Mike E. says:– “Piggy – I think tribalism naturally occurs.” Completely agree, but maybe we can start on this board by trying to stop it in our own little way. Good first step would be all of us rooting for whichever of our QBs is throwing the ball. Hope after the Packers game am thinking, “just take your time to heal Tanny.” 🙂

    • Mike E. says:

You know that can’t happen. If Osweiler throws 4 TD’s this week and we win, there will still be those that prefer Tannehill over Osweiler, and you’d probably be in that group too. Am I correct?

      • stangerx says:

Prefer Tanny overall as far as the future, but not set on that. If Oz blows it up say let him go against the Colts. Big believer in the hot hand.

  73. wyoming85 says:

  74. Mike E. says:

Stanger – As long as future means until the end of the season, I could probably roll with that. Beyond that, uh-uh

    • stangerx says:

My mind is just not made up. If either OZ (who showed it before enough for that fat contract) or Tanny (who think has some potential) goes All Pro the rest of the way….. well I’m cool with that and that guy is the guy I want our QB to be in 2019. If neither happens, well then a whole offseason to consider the various other options.

  75. Randy says:

I root for Tanny every week he plays. That has absolutely nothing to do with my evaluation of him as a player. I can not like a player or have a negative opinion of him or his talents but that doesn’t mean I don’t still hope he does well. I don’t like some of the things my kids do sometimes, but I still love them and want the best for them. I always loved the way Incognito played, but I do not think much of him as a man. Both are possible.
    ***
This is what we see play out in society too often. If you don’t agree with my opinion, then you’re a “hater” or you’re stupid or have no credibility. We can’t have simple discourse and agree to disagree anymore. We say it, but we rarely live it. When someone says “agree to disagree” now, it usually means: “ I think you’re a moron, and if you don’t agree with me I won’t take the time to debate you because it’s pointless.” We are becoming more and more polarized…and using that machinated polarization to marginalize and diminish those on the other side.

  76. ElephantRider says:

If it hurts to even throw, how is that gonna heal in 2 weeks? I think it’s over…..

    • stangerx says:

Gets tricky whenever you get to shoulders, knees, ankles and toes (man was that a summer camp song?). You can’t even figure out what is going on till the swelling goes down…. and the swelling is like in little areas of the joints. So you don’t even feel bad anywhere except that one area…. and it can come back quick.

  77. drg says:

    Randy,

I think people take their cue from cable news, political radio, and more recently, social media. These gaslighters take a complex issue and try to frame it as a battle for good vs. evil, truth vs. lies. Immigration, abortion, healthcare, economic strategies, racial divides, police brutality, etc.. All of these are incredibly complex and lack a definitive solution. I don’t see things getting any less polarized, because there is too much money to be made off of it by opportunists.

  78. drg says:

Sounds like Tannehill is basically done for the year. Unless he’s 100% there’s no point in playing him.

  79. mf13ss says:

Seriously… can’t we think of a better term than “tribalism”? The connotation in and of itself reeks of a archaic ideas, racism, and fits right into “basket of deplorables”… it’s a very belittling term to those who don’t share the GLOBALIST agenda.

    • mf13ss says:

Way to start the day, M13! Typos! LOL @ myself

    • Tim Knight says:

Tribalism is not racist to me at all. It’s just a term like clans from the celtic days etc.
“the behavior and attitudes that stem from strong loyalty to one’s own tribe or social group.”

It doesn’t mean any one specific group of people, just the behavior. Which is exactly what everyone here is referring to. It’s only belittling if you state it as such. Deplorables is a derogatory term.

    • Rockphin says:

why must we choose a better term? It is the perfect term. It means “the behavior and attitudes that stem from strong loyalty to one’s own tribe or social group” which is exactly how it is being used in the conversation.

By the way it is used to describe those who do AND those who don’t share the “globalist” agenda what ever that is…

    • stangerx says:

Maybe not in on the whole PC thing, but never would have thought that offensive. Guess another option is “clanism” like in the Scottish highlands, but seems that has got some modern day connotation baggage as well. What adjective would you use for grouping up in a follow the leader way?

    • The Flying Pig says:

It’s a perfect term. I didn’t use it bc I lacked thought on the subject. It literally means loyalty to ones own social group and has nothing to do with globalism…lol

If you are belittled by it it’s only bc you are tying to be belittled by it. I won’t accommodate your silly request bc it is downright silly.

  80. Tim Knight says:

I was listening to Steve Mariucci on with Mike Francesa today and they were discussing offense these days and how Joe Montana and Steve Young never took snaps from shotgun or threw bubble screens or utilized RPOs etc. Then look at their comp. pct.

  81. mf13ss says:

So I must reek of “tribalism”, just because I support the rule of law (aka, the Constitution)? I didn’t realize I belonged to a ‘tribe’, or was influenced by the region I’m currently residing.

I was born in Philly, and should therefore not belong to a said “tribe” via a ‘red state’ or otherwise, right?

I can think for myself, thank you very much. “Tribalism” does NOT reflect the way I feel or think.

    • The Flying Pig says:

Tribalism doesn’t refer to any group of people and has nothing to do with what one believes

It refers to all of us and the increased trend you can see on a political map in the context of this conversation

The argument you are making about where you are born not influencing your thought is the same one I am making. If you can think for yourself and I think I can think for yourself – then why do some regions vote so different than other regions

The discussion was why the political map is becomes more and more distinguishable by region (rural vs urban)

I beleive you can think for yourself
I think I can think for myself too

So why do we have such regional disparity on an election map?

The idea i through our there is that tribalism is causing us to have rest regional differences. And it affects all of us, not just the political party any of us don’t care for

Not whether one side is justified or not

      • mf13ss says:

It’s called the ELECTORAL COLLEGE. It’s that very plain and simple. There’s no need to coerce everybody into thinking the same way you do. Different is BEAUTIFUL!

      • The Flying Pig says:

        Wtf are you talking about?

That’s not even the same topic…lol

    NOT COOL

    • The Flying Pig says:

Well you can’t call a word like that racist or an example of a global agenda and expect everyone to be like “that’s cool”

  83. Rockphin says:

I am tired of agenda groups hijacking our language and terms.

Liberalism is not a bad work. ALL OF WESTERN CIVILIZATION is based upon Liberalism.

Liberals espouse a wide array of views depending on their understanding of these principles, but they generally support civil rights, democracy, secularism, gender equality, racial equality, internationalism, freedom of speech, freedom of the press and freedom of religion

What is wrong with any of that? Being a “Liberal” is and always has been a good thing until the other tribe go hold of the term.

  84. mf13ss says:

  85. Rockphin says:

Conservatism is a political and social philosophy promoting traditional social institutions in the context of culture and civilization. The central tenets of conservatism include tradition, human imperfection, organic society, hierarchy and authority, and property rights.[1] Conservatives seek to preserve a range of institutions such as monarchy, religion, parliamentary government, and property rights, with the aim of emphasizing social stability and continuity

ALSO corrupted by the “other tribe”

Conservatism is also a good thing.

    ————–
Yet now, somehow being a NATIONALIST is uncool? Can’t have it both ways, my man.

    • The Flying Pig says:

Why don’t you go ahead and post me saying anything about nationalism on the blog today

      • mf13ss says:

I wasn’t go after ya, Bro!

      • mf13ss says:

I simply posted my thoughts, nothing more. I was NOT going after anybody.

        Back to foosball for me.

      • The Flying Pig says:

It’s impossible to have a conversation with you about anything when you project bullshit that I didn’t say. It’s very possible to have respectful political discussions with people with different view – but suggesting that some one said something they didn’t, always kills it.

I didn’t mention nationalism. I didn’t mention the electoral college. I didn’t belittle anyone’s point of view on any topic unless noting it’s different from others is belittling.

I said the word “tribalism” and I own the things I say.

So if you call that word what you called it – it has the same effect as going after me and you can always expect a response if you do that.

You guys know my politics by now. And you are right – I don’t like nationalism – but I avoided that topic purposely and I don’t find fault with people for liking it.

I actually do like the EC though – so I am bothered with you suggesting that is what I was saying.

I didn’t say anyone was wrong for voting their way

But I noted the extreme differences on the map were escalating year by year and I think that’s a problem and not the design of our country – that’s a huge difference from saying someone is wrong bc of the way they voted or will vote or that I am opposed to the electoral college – which by the way, I’m not.

  91. Tim Knight says:

M13, it’s not about being for or against globalism. It’s about conservative tribalism vs. progressive tribalism. It’s not just one group being referred to as tribalism.

That said, there is no way globalism is going away. The next frontier would be our entire planet of the human race becomes one tribe against alien adversaries. Like Star Trek. 😉

    • The Flying Pig says:

Yes I agree tribalism goes both ways…or many different ways

I’ve said it before l. I have a liberal twitter account that I keep for politcal discussions and I follow a lot of liberals

And there is plenty of hack worthy stuff that I just think is unbelievable and probably a result of tribalism

It’s a thing I am suggesting everyone does

      • Tim Knight says:

Agreed. My friends and I use the word tribalism all the time because that is what it is. Nobody thinks it derogatory or racist. It’s the definition of conformity. That’s all. It is real.

      • The Flying Pig says:

I thought I went out of the way to avoid attacking people I disagree with politically in that series of tweets today

I usually try to here bc I know a lot of this group personally for years now and we don’t agree about a lot of things

On the other hand on twitter – I’m a dick

  92. stangerx says:

I frick’n love this board. Things can heat up over the adjective tribalism. And yes that comes into play on one side more than the other of globalism v nationalism debate, but only to a certain extent. Yet wonderful how topics can run here like a water hose with no one holding it. And getting wet here is fun. 🙂

  93. Tim Knight says:

For instance we have a Republican president if you even really consider him that. He’s thought to be more of a negotiator than a conservative ideolog. The Republicans control the senate and the Democrats took hold of the house. I think you need balance in our government. I never want one party controlling all three branches. I also think it was good that many women won house seats as Democrats. And many of them I’ve read about or have seen speak are not about destroying America with far leftwing/socialist ideas. Some of them served in the military and one was in the CIA. They are American people with values and ideals and also speak up for women’s rights more so than say most men would. That’s how a democratic-republic works. The people vote and we are still a land of laws who abide by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The far left and far right are what divides this country with their absolute positions on issues. This country is mostly moderate. But there will always be extremes. It always comes down to human nature.

  94. wyoming85 says:

Personally I think we shouldn’t celebrate the number of women voted in!
    I mean why wouldn’t we?????
Unless they were voted in just for that?????

I mean everything but ignoring it is sexist right??????? 😉

  95. mf13ss says:

Geez! I simply stated that I’m not in favor of the term “tribalism”, and it’s like I called for a ban on the term and anybody who used it! WOW! NOT THE CASE!

Perhaps my words wield more power than I realize? If that is the case, I humbly apologize for stating an objective opinion, as I certainly didn’t mean to get anyone riled up. However, I will NOT apologize for simply stating the two-way streets we should ALL be abiding by, as fellow Americans.

I’d rather talk football, yet some here actually INVITE political discussion. And when something comes up that is contrary to one’s own political opinion, they get called out. NOT COOL.

    Let’s keep it football, guys.

  96. Tim Knight says:

What happens if you’re nationalist, globalist, socially liberal and conservative on different issues? I think it’s called independent. That’s what America is all about. We don’t all conform to one idea or some tribal plank of beliefs that you must abide by to be a part of some tribe. That’s what debate and voting is for. The mobfest voted for the best game to have the fest. It wasn’t Stanger or anyone else saying this is the game and date and that’s it. It probably would not have happened the way it did if it went down that way. Compromise is how civil societies work. Absolute authority is how oppressive dictatorships work.

How the hell was Hitler socially liberal? Deciding who lives and dies? He was a dictator who believed in Germanic anglo saxon superiority. Wow… you’ve lost me. I have no idea where and how you get your information but you’re the only one I know who would say that. Yikes!
