The Tua era begins!

Get used to seeing this, this image is the future of our team. I thank Ryan Fitzpatrick for his dedication and his leadership and the inspiration he provided for our team, the Miami Dolphins. His enjoyment and enthusiasm was infectious. I’m not going to disparage Ryan Fitzpatrick in order to make it clear why Tua should be starting. If we can look at things and detach ourselves from Ryan Fitzpatrick the person, you can realize that it’s been the defense and its improvement that has changed the fortune of the team, not the play of the QB. Fitz is pretty up and down and while he’s having a good season, don’t be lulled into thinking it was great. Now the team is finally scoring over 25 PPG but in this NFL, decent teams do that. The main reason we’re now 3-3 is because our defense is allowing only 18.8 PPG, good for 4th in the NFL.

Before the 2020 NFL draft, and before the injury to Tua Tagovailoa, Tua was considered the most pro ready NFL prospect and possibly the most talented. Yes, Joe Burrow had one epic season but Tua had been doing it for longer, getting better each season while starting a high floor to begin with. I think the plan was to use the BYE week to give Tua the maximum amount of time to get reps in practice. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, the NFL was forced to reschedule a few games which led to a change in our BYE week from Week 11 to Week 7. Without any preseason games for Tua to get ready and get some action, this is the next best opportunity and the fact that it presented itself 4 weeks earlier is unfortunate for Ryan Fitzpatrick but hopefully ends up being better for our team.

We got a glimpse this past Sunday of Tua, 2 pass attempts, 2 completions for a total of 9 yards and he converted a 3rd down, the ONLY 3rd down conversion of the day for the Miami Dolphins. We can do better folks, we really can. That’s not a knock on Fitzpatrick but if we can’t convert any 3rd downs against the Jets, how can we do it against better teams? I feel like Mike Gesicki has once again become totally underutilized. He IS that TE we’ve been waiting for, we need to use him. The O-line has been getting the job done, even with the necessitated switch of Jesse Davis to LT and Robert Hunt to RT. I know many are worried now as to whether Hunt can protect Tua’s blind side but the coaches are aware and will work around it. Tua can move and he will get rid of the ball quickly. Myles Gaskin has carried the load and the load continues to progressively increase. This is good. We haven’t had that kind of consistency with a RB since Jay Ajayi was here. Thankfully Adam Gase isn’t here anymore so Gaskin is safe.

Look to the future, both immediate and distant and be happy #1 is now our QB. Be excited! Let yourself feel the energy of having an elite talent at QB. This is what you have waited for so don’t be shy, nervous or otherwise, embrace it! This is a great time for our team, you can see that things are coming together, and we’re in year 1 of the rebuild after the tear down. The defense we were complaining about earlier in the season is playing as well or better than we all hoped they would at this juncture. Be excited! This is what we live for as Dolphins fans so don’t squander it with “What ifs” and “How come now”, just be freaking elated that we’re just a game out from being atop our division and our best football is yet to come! Oh, and be excited that the Bi Week Babe is coming to a blog near you very soon, as early as this weekend!

Trumps biggest strength is also his weakness. He’s not a career politician so he doesnt know how to properly present himself in a positive light. He spends way too much time talking about himself positively and others negatively. I think Biden has won both of these debates, especially so in the second one. The first one he was bowled over by Trump, but in the process Trump made himself look worse. Biden has spent the last two debates focusing on the American people and Trump has yapped about himself and people who aren’t even at the debate. Joe was very skilled at being corrupt and presenting himself as caring. If I was an everyday person who didnt know what was going on in the world and was watching these debates I would be considering Biden. Unfortunately, I do know what’s going on, so I know both are just complete liars who dont care about anyone but their own crime families and how they can get more money for themselves. Sadly, we need true leadership in this country and I dont see it happening anytime soon.

Completely agree with this. We no longer should call the US government the swamp, we should call it the Sewer because its filled with shit.

Niners should be a tough game for the Pets, even at Gillette. Their defense is getting healthy, and I think they’ll run the ball well. Jimmy G’s ankle is two weeks better than when they faced us. I think the Pets go to 2-4.

No doubt teams are lining up to trade for Jordan. Maybe we can get a 1st rd pick!

    • D says:

lol yeah on those 5 carries he has had TD, so all he does is score!

    • D says:

The could probably use Perry and Bowden back there too especially in an offense that is probably going to shift to more RPO.

The article I read said we should be shopping him. U75s do as they do and are called that because of it.

If you shop him you get less compensation than, when teams call you.

Seattle wanna make a trade for Jordan? What do you have in mind? A 3rd. Fuckoff, but I’ll give you a 7th.

Seattle calling Miami, what do you want for Jordan? A 3rd. How about a 5th? Ok.

That Brian Miller guy writes the worst articles. I know he’s just a fan, not a ‘true journalist’ (whatever the hell that means nowadays, lol), but I can never get past the first paragraph, because he is just doesn’t get it.

  4. CavalierKong says:

Anyone think we’ll make a move before the trade deadline? I don’t mean dumping dead weight like Jordan, but picking up a player from a team unloading talent.

I also know there has been talk about trading Fitz. I’d be surprised if that happened, but that would count as a big move IMO.

  5. CavalierKong says:

I know it’s a small sample size, but maybe we should just stop drafting and signing guys with ‘Jordan’ in their name, lol.

Bet Joe is happy that so many votes have already been cast. Of course he is guilty, but it’s late enough that he can still be Pres no matter what comes out. I think that may take air out of the balloon.

instead he claims it is fake and the russians did it, when everyone knows that’s a lie.

M – I didn’t always hate the Ravens, I think it started when we played them late in the season a couple of years when we were in playoff contention and they absolutely wrecked us. I have hated them since. Can’t help it. 🙂
    —————
I completely understand where you’re coming from… but you’re thinking back to Mr. Pennington in our Wildcard loss to the Ravens. Ed Reed just destroyed us in that game, and Mr. Pennington’s arm wasn’t quick/strong enough. Yeah, I was NOT a fan of the Ravens that day!

You’ll likely remember why the Ravens are my second favorite team…

    • stangerx says:

Ravens have schooled us, even if in real close games, during the season. Been a couple years… but we played them 3 at home over a stretch that they all won but then we took them once after that. Just my memory….. could be off on the exact timing. Was at most of them though.

    MF13,
I can tell you what they are saying about the Ngakoue trade and why it happened up here. The Vikes have pretty much decided their season is over, so they are making moves to get draft choices. Ngakoue is from the Baltimore area and so the trade just kinda worked for all parties. He may have brought more elsewhere, but they’d already kinda screwed with Ngakoue by trading FOR him and telling him they were a guy away from competing for a SB win….so they kinda did him a solid trading him to a contender, so people say, in his home area. Look for the Vikes to trade a few more high priced players.
    —————-
Thank you for this, Randy: didn’t realize what the Vikes were thinking. I’d be very interested in 3 players: Ant Barr (I/R), Eric Kendricks, and Anthony Harris (<- not going to happen).

IF the price is right for Dalvin Cook, I'd be intrigued. However, he's already had serious injuries… I'm not keen on trading for damaged goods, despite how well Cook has played since.

  20. Randy says:

    M13,
Actually, one of the guys they keep saying is likely to be gone is Anthony Harris. The situation with their LBers…..Kendricks and Barr….is curious. They’d be costly, but they are pretty damn good. But, Barr is out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle and Kendricks probably isn’t going anywhere. MN, so the media here is saying, may be going rebuild lite because they do already have some really good players….especially on defense. Cook’s talent is elite, but he’s just a big risk and will demand a lot. I’m not sure I’d make any big trade for a RB. The return just usually isn’t there.
    ***
My biggest get from MN would be Hunter. It fits a huge need for us. He’s young, and he might be one of the very best complete DE in the league. His injury is pretty worrisome….but if he’s healthy….I’d give a high draft pick for him. I don’t see it happening though…unless they do go scorched Earth…then you never know!

    • mf13ss says:

Yessir, IF the Vikes go scorched Earth, Danielle Hunter is the guy we want… even more so than to have made a trade for Yannick. Hunter is tried, true, and absolutely amazing.

We can always hope, right?!! We’ll see what happens…

  21. Mike E. says:

M – The Ravens playoff game was a different story, I didn’t like them back then but didn’t hate them. In 2014 we were 7-5 and the Ravens beat us 28-13. In 2016 we were 7-4 and the Ravens spanked us 38-16. In 2017 we were 4-2 and the Ravens spanked us 40-0. They didn’t just beat us that year they humiliated us. I friggin hate ’em M, that’s all there is to it!

  22. Tim Knight says:

    So is Minnesota cleaning house?

  23. Randy says:

    Tim,
The media is kinda torn up here on whether they’re going full rebuild or partial. They seem to feel that the Ngakoue trade suggested they might be….and they all believe Speilman loves to make trades! Lol

    • Tim Knight says:

I kind of get trading Ngakoue because their season is shit and they’re not going to pay him the contract he wants. But why dismantle the entire team? They have some really good talent to get back at it next year.

  24. sb7mvp says:

I hate the Ravens for many reasons, but we always play them stupidly and make them look a lot better than they are, so its frustrating watching a team you hate look like an unstoppable juggernaut.
As far as that Pennington playoff game, a large reason we lost that game was because we lost our all pro center the week before and we went in there continuing to run the same 3 plays in the widcat.

TONIGHT’s 3rd game of the World Series could be the BEST GAME of this series. Both Walker Buehler and Charlie Morton have been sensational in the post season. DON’T be surprised if it’s 1-0 after about 6 innings. Then, it will be a battle of the bull pens to see who wins. My wild-ass guess is the final will be about 3-2, Rays.

I’ve only made it to the 4th or 5th innings in games 1 and 2. But tomorrow’s an OFF DAY for your’s truly, so I expect to stay up later. And I haven’t been this excited about a World Series since the Marlins won the 6th and deciding game in Yankee Stadium when Josh Beckett, pitching on TWO DAYS REST, held the Bronx Bombers to 2 hits in a stunning 9 inning performance won by the Fighting Fish!! Watching George Steinbrenner walk out of Yankee Stadium with his tail dragging was one of my all-time favorite moments in watching the Fall Classic!!

BTW, the First World Series I ever watched was in 1954. Willie Mays UNBELIEVABLE catch of a 450 foot blast by Cleveland’s Vic Wertz remains my #1 most amazing play in WS history because, after he caught the ball in center field of the Polo Grounds, Mays pivotted and threw a strike all the way back to the infield ON THE FLY!!

Y’all enjoy tonight’s game! It ought to be a dilly!!

    Tim,
I’m just repeating what the media is saying. I don’t think they will go too crazy, but I do think they may let ho a few veterans who might bring something in trade. Their OL is terrible, so I’m not sure just how competitive they can be. Folks up here have also kinda lost hope in Cousins and the idea is if they have to reload at QB, why not rebuild a little. Speculation is also that Zimmer and/or Spielman may be fired after the season so a rebuild is more likely. Lots of speculation going on up here right now.

    • Tim Knight says:

Wow! The Vikings have probably had one of the best rosters over the last decade but the results just aren’t good enough. They get close, have a setback, get close again, have another setback. Maybe the owner wants to start over. That’s a tough task as we know. LOL

How a congresswomen will clean up the district when congresspeople have no control or power over a district will be the interesting thing. The dim-witted U50’s who watch fox or OAN as their only “real news” outlets will cheer it but are too dumb to understand how things work and miss that fact. The Mayor, Councilmen and / or Aldermen are in control of the district. The Congresswoman would not have the ability to “clean up” the district. She can only vote on national matters as a representative of that district.

      • stangerx says:

This is the ‘Merica we live in now:

Our societal issues predate Trump. He is the effect, not the cause. He’s basically what we deserve at this point IMO.

We’ve allowed our politicians to become so corrupt, that because Trump kinda moves in a direction different to the establishment and because he sounds different than the establishment, it doesn’t matter how corrupt he is, nor what he says or does, he has oodles of people lining up behind him, not just the racist bigots.

  46. stangerx says:

“If Biden wins anything, you guys won’t believe it anyway. It’ll have been evil mail in ballots, illegal immigrants, or dead people voting. ”

Cav — think you underestimate people like steve and ORob. They are smart just passionate and maybe playing what comes out like a game…… but there is a point where even they don’t buy in. After the election Trump claimed he had the biggest inauguration crowd in history and then that he won the popular vote cause 5 million illegal immigrants voted Hillary. Some Trump folks gave some lip service to those, but little effort cause both just made no sense. If Biden wins big will be similar.

    • CavalierKong says:

I’ll pass take a hard pass on the zero sum game you guys are playing. If you want to paint them in a corner/ reverse that psychology with the buy in line, and get a dig in about the inauguration at the same time, then do it. You don’t need to address it to me, lol.

  49. CavalierKong says:

LOL, well that was cathartic. I’m going to buy some couches.

  50. ocalarob says:

what worries me about the QB change is the lack of a running game, while gaskin is doing his best to carry the running game we still haven’t had a 100 yard rusher.
D’s had to worry about Fitz taking off which helped our offense tremendously.
i don’t think Tua has the same running ability as Fitz.
if i’m the opposing D coor, i focus more on pressuring tua and coverage than i am about gaskin.

hit Tua, that would be my focus

    • CavalierKong says:

IMO Fitz’s best attribute is his pocket presence. I think he really helps our oline. And like you said, we can’t run the ball, so I agree with you, if I was the DC, I’d blitz Tua early and often and see what the kid has.

It’s really surprising to me considering the size and makeup of our line that we don’t run block better. And Gaskin is a good 3rd down type back, but we still need that bigger back that Howard was supposed to be which IMO is why we went after Bell.

I think Tua will be a runner as well, just a different type of running … Fitz would see shit breakdown say fuck it I’m running forward, where as Tua will see and feel pressure coming, and run away in rollouts to buy time and then either turn upfield / toward sidelines or throw it away if nothing comes open enough … I also think Tua needs less of a window to fit it into than Fitz … at least that is my hope

    • stangerx says:

I think Tua is going to rollout/scramble a bunch, but if we are doing RPO seems he’s gotta run a good bunch or it makes no difference. I loved Fitz’s comments on how Tua can make throws i never could. So maybe when Fitz would run…. Tua tries to find time for the throw. Gonna be real interested to see what he does do.

    • Ken says:

Mobility has always been a big part of Tua’s game I don’t expect that to change. Also Tua has a much stronger arm than Fitz so he should be able to get it into smaller windows

      • Rhino says:

Tua also has something that many/most on this site have consistently said Can NOT be taught: accuracy.

I think they made the move because 3rd down efficiency was killing us. That and the 30:20 td:int ratio of Fitz is not gonna win too many more games than .500 ball we were playing.

  53. Mike E. says:

If Biden wins I promise I won’t whine like a pussy for 4 years during his presidency, that’s more than any of the Democrats here have done, so chew on that! Actually, my wife and I decided that pussies are very strong, they can endure a lot of punishment like childbirth for instance. A guy gets grazed on his ball sac and he’s doubled over in pain. It’s balls that are weak while pussies are strong. Therefore, I now change what I said to whine like balls!

    • stangerx says:

Other side complaining about the president is an American tradition. Another tradition is the Pres tries to lead all Americans. Don’t know for a fact Biden will do that, but am really hoping he would if elected.

      • Mike E. says:

Lead us where? That’s the question . . . Most likely into an economic depression when he closes everything down and makes mask wearing even outside a mandate (Except Chris Cuomo)

      • stangerx says:

Exactly where is the question, but isn’t it that in any Pres election? I’m not a huge fan of Biden, but only two choices.

  54. Mike E. says:

Stanger – Please – This has been unprecedented, I have never seen such vitriol between not only the opposing party but the media as well. It’s been one big free for all trying to disparage the POTUS whether it was legitimate or not. I truly hope this doesn’t continue whether he wins or loses, I’m sick of it. You can disagree with me, but TDS is very real, and I know a shit ton of people that have it.

    • stangerx says:

By “Other side complaining about the president is an American tradition” was encouraging you to keep it up no matter who the next president is. With reaction and attention comes accountability.

And yes the last 4 years have been unprecedented in that, but was also at least implying that part of that was because Trump never ventured from his base and united. Which he is paying the price for now.

And I probably have TDS. Before our current POTUS voted GOP for Pres every time since Reagan.

      • Mike E. says:

I can agree with you 100% he did a poor job of trying to unite the country and invite others to the party, he didn’t even try. I don’t remember it being so contentious on this blog or on FB or twitter when Obama was POTUS. I suppose you could say he didn’t alienate people but to be fair people started the whining and crying as he soon he as he won the election and I think there was a certain group of people that would never warm to him no matter what he did.

  55. Mike E. says:

Tua’s going to run a lot? Great!! I’ll be wincing all fucking game worrying his first big hit is his last. Sounds like fun . . .

  56. CavalierKong says:

    Mike,

It certainly has been a 4 year cryfest for the Dems, no doubt. But this isn’t one-sided. Acting like the other side is this staunch well of take it like a man and rub some dirt on it, lmao.

Trump is the biggest victim in the history of this country or haven’t you been paying attention? It’s his bread and butter move. He whines about everything that doesn’t go his way. And you can’t say it’s in response to blah, blah, blah. He’s been doing it since the 80’s. That’s when he coined his infamous phrase ‘fake news’. He uses the same playbook as president that he has as a businessman for decades.

You say you’ve never seen such vitriol? Trump brings every perceived slight to the forefront and he has the biggest stage in the world. No slight is too small or petty for this president to respond to. Nothing is beneath him, and no stone thrown is too low. THAT is just as big a reason why it seems like it’s so bad. He makes it worse.

If he had any decorum, most of the shit that gets thrown at him wouldn’t get blown up to be nearly as big. Do you remember “Thanks, Obama!”? The vitriol thrown at him was terrible too, but he was above it as much as possible, so it took away some of its power and subsided to background noise. That is what most presidents do. Trump forever paints himself a victim and constantly puts it in everyone’s faces, so because of the way he handles his shit, it gets exacerbated.

And that trickles down to the people. People feel stronger one way or another than in normal years with a normal adult in the WH because it’s constantly in our faces. To just call it MSM and the dems whining for 4 years is completely absolving Trump for his roll in where we are at.

    • wyoming85 says:

The word your looking for is “petty”

      • CavalierKong says:

Hey now, I found that word in my 3rd paragraph, lol.

In all seriousness, yes, that word sums it up. This whole fucking thing is petty. All of it. lol

    • Mike E. says:

I think they started trying to get him out of office as soon as he won the election. I do agree he plays the victim but I do think he’s faced more adversity in his won country than any other president.I don’t want to get deep into this but it’s amazing how the media ran with the story from the unnamed anonymous source with no corroboration yet won’t say a word about the Biden/Russia controversy. The media definitely doesn’t play fair.

      • CavalierKong says:

Similar to the birther conspiracy. That hung around for how long after Obama was elected, hell is it still a thing? And I didn’t even vote for Obama, but I think this constant attack shit started with him if not before.

In general, every single day I find everyone on my FB from the LEFT aisle that posts is just posting one after another of Trump memes galore. There’s no comparison. Yes, Obama was all nice and cuddly and spoke extremely well and didn’t alienate anyone with his commentary. As a President policy wise, not impressed in the least and hated some of the things he did. I can tell you this, if Joe’s nose grows and we end with socialized medicine I may just end up being that person with BDS, which will probably turn into HDS after a couple of months when Harris puts a pillow over Joe’s head while he’s sleeping.

  71. Rockphin says:

Mike to most Americans (You know the majority?) it is not TDS it is sickening denial and unforgivable willful ignorance from the other side. You and the rest of the trump supporters here are in the MINORITY. that is a straight up fact, cannot be disputed. you have control only because of the way our republic is set up to be controlled by a minority

It was deemed as fair by the engineers of the constitution to protect the less populated states from being dominated by more populous states. On that level it is fair. It doesn’t change the fact that the majority of Americans can’t stand the douchebag and lose respect for his cereal forgivers. I get that it is tough to have your hypocrisy shoved in your face day in and day out but that is what you get when you surrender the moral high ground by constantly forgiving his sleaziness no matter what he does. He has said and done 100 things that you guys would have disqualified ANYONE else for doing.

If a tape of GWB came out bragging about grabbing pussies you, me and everyone else would have picked McCane in that primary.
If it came out that Obama owned a golf resort in Ireland and manipulated the system to have the US air force pay him money to stay at his property while they go out of their way to “fuel up” you, Steve and Rob would be calling for his head.
if obama’s personal lawyer went to jail for campaign finance rule violations and Obama was the “Unindicted co-conspirator #1” you would lose your mind. It would be unforgivable.

  76. CavalierKong says:

    Mike,
You’re post combines issues, policy, and decorum into one statement. When it comes to policy, I align slightly more with Trump over the other two. Although I am staunchly against some of Trump’s stances (mostly immigration and clean energy), I really didn’t agree with much Obama did, and Biden is too in China’s pocket for my tastes.

When talking about the constant attacks and the atmosphere of belligerent behavior we see in everyone, what I am putting down is that it is all made worse by the president’s decorum. It’s not just the dems being whiny douchebags.

All presidents will have their policies attacked. All presidents will face scrutiny, 2nd guessing, and all president will have supporters and detractors.

This presidency has been defined by an atmosphere of constant attacks because he has no decorum, quite the opposite, he thrives in a chaotic attacking climate because it’s what he does, and he is incapable of adapting or changing his behavior. So instead of minimizing attacks and argument, he exacerbates it. It becomes the sole topic. He makes it worse. He sinks down to that level every time. And so do his followers, and so do his detractors, and so does the rest of the country.

When your leader leads by attack and victimization, is it really that big a surprise that the rest of the country follows?

  77. wyoming85 says:

  78. Randy says:

Is the idea and reality that we need to decrease our reliance on fossil fuels becoming a lie, again? Are there still people out there who don’t understand a change has to be made? I feel for people who may lose money if we transition away from fossil fuels and start to give people jobs to create and provide alternative sources of energy, but it is the right choice for us as humans, the planet and our descendants. The fact that it may harm a very small portion of the Earth’s population sucks…but it doesn’t change the necessity of it. And I don’t even blame those folks affected being angry about it, but it doesn’t change the reality that we need to change as a species. This is about the future of our planet.
    ***
And Biden’s actual plan…you know, something Trump doesn’t have….is to assist those displaced by cracking down on fossil fuel production by giving them jobs in developing and producing the alternative options. Not perfect, of course, but better than nothing.

    • wyoming85 says:

    • ocalarob says:

Nice post, however you’re forgetting about other countries as well, will China do it? will India do it? it doesn’t make much sense if we are the only ones doing it, clean energy is not sustainable at this point, if it was we would be using it.

      • Rockphin says:

        Yes THEY WILL

We should be leading the world in this like we have in every other great advancement since the industrial era. YES FOR OUR SAKE!!!!!

Yes we should take the lead and be leaders in the world instead of going back in time. Why don’t we bring back horse and buggy while we bring back coal!?

  79. CavalierKong says:

Stang, lol about my vote not counting. I’ve been saying that for years since I’m in the bluest state in the union. Half the time I only vote on state and local issues because even if I vote for Bush (which I did) what would be the point in CA?

    • stangerx says:

Trump or Biden hold a rally in Cal recently? They come to FL like it is their nearest 7-11. When was back in a very blue area of Washington….. the GOP didn’t even bother to throw up a candidate for State Senate. That’s a pretty big position.

      • CavalierKong says:

Trump came to Sacramento some time ago, but I think that was a fire thing, not a rally. I haven’t heard anything about Biden coming here, but I guess he doesn’t need to.

  80. CavalierKong says:

  81. wyoming85 says:

    I tell you what!

    I’m not against clan energy!

If you can make it viable and cheaper, the companies will start building the facilities you need to produce it!

And I will build those also!

But putting up diesel generators to charge electric cars won’t work!

    • wyoming85 says:

      Clean even!

      • Rockphin says:

        THIS^^^

If the us had continued down the path it was on in the 70’s when there was a concerted effort to develop alternate technologies for energy then we would not be in this position. What happened you ask? The grand old party happened. A few special interest groups used their financial influence to buy the GOP and make oil a party policy. To this day it still is.

Battery technologies were purposely buried by oil companies to make sure that our dependence on oil is continued. I would love for you to be making millions right now building alternate clean energy generation plants rather than continuing to follow “Party Policies” bought decades ago by special interest groups.

If WE the People chose we could.

    • CavalierKong says:

Is clan energy akin to tribalism? (not throwing stones, I have my fair share of goofs too, lol)

  82. Randy says:

    Wyoming
I know. I almost apologized to you in the post. Believe me. I get it. I come from a state where we rely on farming. Farming….especially small, family farms….has been slapped around plenty by the Government. It sucks. But, it doesn’t change the reality that we need to find a better way for the future of our planet. Would you disagree with that statement? I get that you are impacted by the choice, but do you feel we should just keep doing things the way we’ve been doing them or find a better way?

    • wyoming85 says:

  83. Randy says:

    ORob,
So, the answer is that if it’s not cheap and other Countries aren’t gonna do it, we shouldn’t either? The ongoing damage we are doing to our planet is a secondary…maybe tertiary concern? Ok. Thank you for the opinion.

    • ocalarob says:

I agree however what you’re proposing is not realistic or so i’ve heard.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      Other countries are doing it

      Some big names are not

Some notable countries make very little environmental concessions (China and India)

But that’s the benefit of an international treaty like the Paris Accord

It’s not a battle for the US to fight alone
The international community must collectively pressure the countries that won’t play ball

  84. Randy says:

I grew up building hog confinements and working on roads for a lot less than people now get paid for making French fries. I feel I’ve whored myself out plenty. Lol

  85. wyoming85 says:

My problem is with what you call a Biden “plan”?

Is it to get companies to start building facilities for “clean” energy, then transition from Oil and gas?

Or is he just going to start shutting down Oil and gas the hope that somebody figures out Clean energy?
    You like rolling black outs?????

    Because
Wind farms don’t cut the mustered!
    Solar Don’t cut the mustered
Electricity is oil and gas generated
    You don’t like Plastic?
    Battery acid comes from Oil!!!!!!!!

Figure out the technology and the change will come!

    • ocalarob says:

doesnt calif have them? i think they call them “brown outs”

      • CavalierKong says:

It’s rare, but we’ve had them for decades, not caused by clean energy. If we went fully clean at this moment, I do think outages would be a major concern.

More recently we have planned power outages due to high winds and shoddy equipment in the mountain areas. That is wildfire precautionary measures, and is currently a huge debate between communities.

    • stangerx says:

I watched the debate and didn’t see Biden wanting to shut down oil and gas right away. I did hear him wanting to support alternative energy and stop subsidies for oil and gas. Bit of a difference, but yeah wouldn’t be good for oil and gas down the road.

  86. Randy says:

    stanger,
I agree, but you gotta start somewhere. I’d rather be ahead of the curve than behind it. Tough choices will need to be made whether it’s now or later. Biden is trying to make the hard choice…not the wrong one….or the easy one, in my mind. That’s what I want out of my leaders. I get that it’s a hard row to hoe.

  87. ocalarob says:

Wind turbines are unreliable, solar panels can not generate enough power to run these big factories, so all of you out there demanding we go to clean energy…..

will you please specify on how we get that done?

    • stangerx says:

Biden talked about being clean by 2050. So in that time frame. Obviously that includes the sources you brought up (the new solar array stuff is incredible), which are getting more efficient each year. Ultimately the complete transition — and there will have to be one given the limits of petro stuff — will most likely be hydrogen based. There is power in water. Helped power the Space Shuttle.

Were you trying to imply that once all the oil is gone mankind is done as far as power?

  88. Randy says:

    Wyoming,
I get the idea that the technology may not be there. Unfortunately, actually attempting things and pushing the envelop when it may not be successful is how you learn and make those improvements in technology. It’s rarely done just in a draft room. War is one of the great catalysts for developments in technology because we are forced into that crucible of grow/adapt or be destroyed. If we never push and try, it may never come.

    • wyoming85 says:

      Hey I’m good with it!
I have a generator that runs off of natural gas for my house! 😉

I’m just saying I will build whatever the companies want built!

Clean Oil, Plastic, acid, jet fuel, are you picking up what I’m putting down?

You don’t have to put me out of business!

Just change what the company is selling!

But you have to do that first! Or the country will crater!!!!!!!!!!!!

  89. Ken says:

The country that figures out how to end its dependency on fossil fuels will dominate the next 100 years

    • The Flying Pig says:

      F course

Better to be ahead of the curve than chasing it

    • Rockphin says:

Only if it can control the technology, but then, if it is for the benefit of everyone (cleaner air and water, less global impact with waste products) then should we as people care which country figures it out first? (saying because what every anyone figures out will be stolen by everyone else able to in time)

That being said, the economic advantages to being the said country would be greatly welcome in the meantime. LOL

GO FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES!! FORWARD NOT BACK!

  90. Mike E. says:

    • Rockphin says:

It is something we agree on. I am just tired of the shame I feel every day because of that buffoon. I am ashamed of him being president.

I was brought up like I would think the majority on here were to try and be a good person.
Don’t lie. Don’t cheat. Don’t be unfaithful. Do be a bully or abide bullies. Be respectful of others. Be modest. Be polite. Work hard. Be generous. Help the less fortunate. Don’t judge others by their appearance; Don’t be a biggot. Don’t discriminate against others who are different than me.

Everyone one of these beliefs is thrown in the trash daily by the putrid piece of human excrement a certain mislead segment of our population wants to celebrate

It is shameful and I am ashamed of you.

  91. pheloniusphish says:

Pretty much all energy sources have environmental issues. Electric requires something else to provide it and then batteries to store it..The something else is generally fossil fuel of some kind. The batteries require rare elements, so enormous amounts of earth have to be moved and then they are a waste nightmare when they have to be disposed of. Wind turbines can’t be recycled, require oil to run, kill birds, and look funny on cars. Solar is like electric except it doesn’t need a fossil fuel to produce. Does need solar panels and batteries. Nuclear is great, but scary and has a disposal issue.

It’s Pollyanna to think that other countries will follow our lead.

We should continue to work towards clean energy, but not by throwing out what we have before we have a solution.

    • Ken says:

      No disagreement from me

    • CavalierKong says:

      ^ Well put.

    • The Flying Pig says:

It’s Pollyanna bc the path to international cooperation actually requires International cooperation….lol

We don’t have to lead the way upon some of these issues

      We have to catch up

The fact that China and India haven’t done much doesn’t mean that as part of an International coalition we can’t pressure them

  96. Randy says:

    Phish,
No logical or reasonable person is suggesting you throw out what you have before realistic options are available. That’s not even a choice. We are dependent on fossil fuels. Biden wasn’t even suggesting that….although he wasn’t being very clear on what he is suggesting. He is actually proposing we start the shift or begin augmenting that shift. I don’t quite understand why folks ignore that. Biden is talking about taking a step in that direction not destroying everyone involved in fossil fuel in the next 2 years. That is just more fear mongering.

  97. wyoming85 says:

I do have a serious question though!

Don’t tell me Because of Trump!

This has been indoctrinated into the TV since the 1970’s!

Do you think there is one???????

    I keep thinking Hydrogen????

    • stangerx says:

Hydrogen is the long-term answer. Problem is not cost efficient at this point. But we are talking decades into the future. Going be running on oil and gas for a long time.
