Offseason questions linger – What will the Dolphins do?

March 11th, 2021. Spring is rapidly approaching, the weather is warming up, and so are the rumors. It’s too easy, the 2021 Miami Dolphins have a decent amount of cap space available, 9th in the NFL at just over #33M, but we’re also armed with a bunch of enticing draft picks, thanks to the Houston Texans. The Dolphins own picks #3, #18, #36 and #50, 4 picks in top 50 picks. We also have picks #81 (RD 3) and pick #124 (RD 4), and finally #207 (RD 6), 7 picks in all. There is also potential for us to trade back too, but I have no problem with focusing on quality rather than quantity. If there’s a player that can make a huge impact on our roster right now at #3, go get that player. Of course, we may trade this entire draft, Xavien Howard, Jerome Baker and Tua Tagovailoa to acquire the messiah, Deshaun Watson, so there’s that too. It’s just so easy to look at our team as the perfect trading partner for anyone, including the QB that in my mind doesn’t actually get traded. There’s also #1 on our roster who we prioritized with our #5 pick in last year’s draft. This is where we wanted to be, get our QB, and then have the ability to build the roster around that QB.

We definitely have holes to fill, especially with the surprise cut of LB Kyle Van Noy. We’re looking to upgrade and get younger too. I would expect a LB to be drafted by us, not necessarily with our first or even our 2nd, but it’s going to happen. We need a center unless we re-sign Ted Karras or look to FA once again to find one like we did last year. Corey Linsley is available and will cost similarly to re-signing Ted Karras. We may choose to draft a center and Creed Humphrey and Landon Dickerson are the 2 top centers in the draft. We also must upgrade our WR receiver corps and as the pictures I posted show, I would love to bring in former Lions WR Marvin Jones Jr. He’s such a solid, consistent receiver, and right now now we have none. I said it, ZERO. Oh this guy might become that, and this guy if he’s healthy could be that, but they haven’t and they might not. We need one professional receiver that suits up every game and produces and that’s why I like Jones. Jr. That wouldn’t stop us from drafting a stud WR and I believe we will, the more weapons the better.

Our linebacker corps just got thinner due to the release of Van Noy, and we only had thumper Elandon Roberts on a 1 year contract and he was injured very late in the season so he won’t be back. Vince Biegel is also a FA as is Kamu Grugier-Hill, leaving only Jerome Baker, Andrew Van Ginkel, Calvin Munson and Sam Eguaoven as our LB group. We need to find an impact player for that front 7 to pair with Jerome Baker who had his finest season as a Miami Dolphin last season.

We need an upgrade at RB, and rumors are flying that Aaron Jones and the Miami Dolphins are a match. I’m not as enthusiastic about this pairing as some people are. I think Jones was a nice piece in the GB offense, I don’t see him as the workhorse back we may need to lean on. To be fair, he’s a player not too unlike the Saints Alvin Kamara, smooth receiver who can run the ball in spots, but both of these guys aren’t pounders that wear the defense down, they’re more finesse backs. I think we have 2 guys on the roster already like that in Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed. We need a true lead back and Jones is just barely a 1000 rusher and I think we should aim higher and pay less.

We could also use an upgrade at S, but it’s possible that last year’s 3rd RD pick Brandon Jones is given a larger role this year pairing with Eric Rowe, but good ole Bobby McCain looks like he could be facing down the guillotine himself. We can save about $6M if we cut him and I’ve always been a McCain advocate, but last year he had his chance and he didn’t really show an awful lot. With Nik Needham proving adequate in the slot and of course the presence of last year’s first RD pick Noah Igbinoghene, Mac faces some tough odds. What do you think we do???

GO DOLPHINS 2021!!!

Matt Skura was coming off a multi-ligament knee injury last year. Didn’t play as well as he and the #Ravens had hoped. Now gets a shot to reset his value with the #Dolphins. Very smart player. Should greatly help Tua … or whoever is under center.

Former #Ravens C Matt Skura is headed to the #Dolphins on a one-year deal, his agent @davidcanter says.

      Forgot to refresh first, lol.

    • steveccnv says:

What kind of breweries do they have in Sacramento? Used to be one on K street

      • CavalierKong says:

Got a couple of little places downtown, but I’m not a beer guy, so I don’t hit up the breweries. My wife loves River City Brewing Co. Their beer is all over Sac. And we used to go to Sac Brewing Co, but they moved, not sure where to.

  3. steveccnv says:

Skura has had his issues, we’ll see how he does for us

    • CavalierKong says:

I’m curious to see the numbers. If it’s anywhere near 4, I’m wondering why they take this guy who is a real question mark, and didn’t keep Karras, who wasn’t spectacular, but was solid in the middle.

  4. steveccnv says:

Still at FA, and looking for bargains. My guess is they try to redo the contract for McCain and maybe Grant, if they still want both

  5. stangerx says:

I know it supposed to be horrible to “blame the victim” but I’d be real curious to learn the histories of the Watson accusers. Fly someone you haven’t met from Atlanta to Houston to do a massage? Had to be a huge red flag for the woman. Would also like to know if she brought luggage.

    • CavalierKong says:

Seems pretty obvious they were probably escorts, and this smells of extortion, but there is no way to know at this point. He’s not going to be a Dolphin anyway, so it’s easy enough to sit and wait for the details.

      • CavalierKong says:

A big part of it, is what are they actually accusing him of doing? Sexual assault could mean a lot of things. I’m thinking specifically of Kobe’s, where the sex was consensual, but she alleged he forcibly took what she wasn’t giving…

      • stangerx says:

Maybe and maybe not. Plenty of legit masseuses out there. Over heard my parents talking about one who gave my Mom a massage. She only massaged women. 10-year-old me asked why. My Mom said “cause many men want a kiss after it.” Don’t think she really meant kiss.

      • CavalierKong says:

My old job dealt with illegal massage parlors in Sacramento. Was involved in a number of stings, and always part of the paperwork. It’s extremely easy to track the legitimate masseuses vs the ones that go the extra step. That won’t be a problem for any investigator.

      • stangerx says:

But Watson is screwed either way — his defense to sexual assault is got what I paid for. Don’t think anyone is going to buy “it never happened” with 6 women lined up.

      • CavalierKong says:

That was my point yesterday. It doesn’t even really matter if the allegations (whatever they are) are true or not. This likely screws up any trade for him right now. You can’t just dismiss 6 accusers.

Matt Skura wasn’t the splashy center signing many were hoping for and he did have notable snap issues last year, but he ranked 4th in ESPN’s pass block win rate. If he figures out the snap

  7. mf13ss says:

  8. Ken says:

You can still sexually assault a prostitute. In fact they are among the most vulnerable to be sexually assaulted

  9. mf13ss says:

    • stangerx says:

The 2020 grades explain in part why he got benched. Let’s hope he reverts to pre-injury form.

    • steveccnv says:

ESPN had him at 4 for PB, and we all know what PFF does isn’t accurate

      • mf13ss says:

Actually, I find ESPN Stats to be most inaccurate, too. We’ll probably find — in all actuality — the truth somewhere between the two.

Wish I could opine on his play, but again, I know nothing about him.

  10. stangerx says:

So before it comes out what is Matt Skura’s contract going to be? My guess is one year and $4 million.

  11. mf13ss says:

So in trying to find more about Matt Skura, I go to my old go-to, Football Outsiders. What do ya know, they’ve become a pay-site too. Dammit! 😡

  12. mf13ss says:

What I CAN tell ya about Matt Skura is that he started 16/16 games for the Ravens in 2018 as their Center, and he was the anchor of that O-Line that rushed for an incredible 2,441 yards that season. WOW!

    That’s nothing to sneeze at!

  13. stangerx says:

A 7th Watson accuser has come forward. He flew her from NYC to Houston ….had a car pick her up at Central Perk.

    • CavalierKong says:

      The numbers are stacking up…

      In case I haven’t explicitly stated it, I don’t want Watson anymore…

      • stangerx says:

Oddly enough I’m OK with it if lowers his price so long as the scenario is not him forcing stuff on women not expecting such.

  14. mf13ss says:

    ————–
THAT is how good Albert Wilson is… and exactly why I’m pounding the table to keep him on the team!

  15. steveccnv says:

Skura was having a career year in 2019 in terms of his blocking proficiency before suffering a season-ending knee injury in Week 12. He was placed on injured reserve, ending his year. He struggled to return to form in 12 starts last season and was responsible for multiple botched snaps throughout the year.

    • CavalierKong says:

We’re looking at a boom or bust, and like you said above, we have a backup plan in Deiter.

    • stangerx says:

Even if what everyone sees, the botched snaps aren’t what concern me the most. He tore pretty much everything in his left knee…. that’s hard to come back from.

    • mf13ss says:

Hopefully we vetted him and his knee-injury is in his past. Looks to me like we may have found a diamond in the rough… IF he’s back to form.

It is great he started 39 games for the awesome Ravens OL. Not so great that they stopped starting him last year.
    —————–
Funny… I was about to type that to you, but deleted it because the right words weren’t coming to me. I think you stated it perfectly above.

  18. The Flying Pig says:

I really hope Watson was at least getting frequent flyer miles

  19. mf13ss says:

  20. mf13ss says:

    ————–
Take this with a mere grain of salt. I’m sorry, but Tony Pauline (IMO) is about as bad as Jason La Canfora: very, very bad track record of being absolutely wrong.

  21. Dolphins have their starting center now, Matt Skura

  22. now there are 9 women making claims against Watson, SMH

Just say no to Watson, like everyone else did

  23. steveccnv says:

You guys kill me, that come on here and post something like it’s news after there’s 100 posts above on the subject

  24. i believe Watson should get his house in order, before anyone can offer him a job as franchise QB

only a fool would ink him up to a huge deal , without getting all the knowledge of who he really is as a person

Falcons signed Michael Vick to a contract in excess of $100 million, they didnt know who he really was as a person

  25. mf13ss says:

  26. Rockphin says:

already answered above, but I am going to say it anyway. WHO CARES what “media members” think!?

JUST SAY NO TO GIVING UP DRAFT CAPITAL AND SALARY CAP SPACE FOR A MALCONTENT who tried to force his way out of a contract because he thinks more of himself than any player has a right to!!!!! FUCK WATSON! Hope the criminal charges come next!

Who in the world gets to choose who will be hired as their next boss!?? This still boggles my mind.

ONE PHONE CALL should have straightened that out.

“Hello Deshawn? This is Cal McNair, I am the CEO of the Texans, NOT YOU so shut the fuck up about who will be the next GM of MY football club. Shut the fuck up or sit out the remainder of your contract. You have no say and never will. Now go and get yourself ready to play this season.”

  27. Rockphin says:

Now some schmuck is going to say “look they are getting ready for Dickshawn by signing his former WR”

  28. mf13ss says:

I like the 1-year deal for Will Fuller… hopefully this lights a fire in his belly… not that he didn’t have a fire already, so as to take PEDs… but ya get the point. He’s a stellar WR when healthy.

    • Rhino says:

Fuller and Williams combined might get that full 16 game schedule. lol
Fuller at ND was so much fun to watch. But after rookie season has never played more than 11 games, and in his 5 years only 54 of the possible 80 games. That makes $10 million feel like a lot. Fingers crossed but it feels like a “Jordan Howard” type flier.

  29. MF, Fuller had comparable stats to Devante Parker last year, except Fuller had 8 TDS, and Parker only had 4

as of this moment, Fuller is the Dolphins best WR on the roster

    • Rhino says:

Fuller DID have better and more consistent QB play :). But I think MF13s point is simply “talent needs to be available on game day”. As long as our WR corp takes turns getting hurt we’ll be ok. lol

    • mf13ss says:

Deshaun Watson led the NFL in many stats last year… let’s not forget that, as it pertains to Fuller. Watson to Fuller became natural, as the two grew together.

Tua was about a year removed from his potentially career-ending hip injury… without a preseason, TC, offseason program, strength training program, etc, etc.

Yes, Fuller is a beast, much like DeVante… but the two of them can’t seem to stay healthy. I think Rhino said it best just above!

  30. CavalierKong says:

Is every one of our FA signings a 1 year deal?

  31. steveccnv says:

    4.33 Fuller, see ya Grant

    • mf13ss says:

To be honest, Fuller’s 4.33 was half a decade ago, back in ’16.

What’s more, Fuller has only had 24 career punt/kick returns his pro career over. Until we can find a better returner, I feel Grant is still on our team… just not as a primary WR.

      • stangerx says:

He’s still 26…. that lost step should be a few years away. But as much money as his contract will be for…… doubt he’ll be catching kicks.

      • Rhino says:

        Iggy returning kicks, maybe?

      • mf13ss says:

Iggy, IMO, doesn’t have the explosiveness that Jakeem Grant still has.

Jakeem is a keeper, until he loses a few steps. That little mofo blew away several of the so-called fastest STs and DBs in the league last year. And if it weren’t for him, we wouldn’t have ended with 10 wins last year.

It’s about his punt/kick return prowess… not as a WR.

  32. stangerx says:

Gronk is to Brady as Fuller is to Watson. 🙂

Doesn’t mean the massage fan will come here, but is a reason why he might want too.

  33. CavalierKong says:

    • mf13ss says:

Welp, I think we’re done in FA! I mean, more than $10M?

And it’s cool. Next up: the NFL DRAFT!

    • steveccnv says:

We’ll spread the ball around so 1 WR doesn’t have big stats, it’s the cheats way

      • CavalierKong says:

Exactly. We have a couple of guys that can take the top off now, and if Williams and Parker stay healthy, they are quality. Wilson is dynamic in the slot (assuming he hasn’t lost a step).

I wonder if we’ll still look at WR in the 1st. Pass rusher has to be a top priority in the draft.

  34. CavalierKong says:

Grant is really only good for kickoffs. We don’t trust his hands on punt returns, and as a WR those same hands make him an unreliable receiver.

    • stangerx says:

His problem is Fuller’s deal is one-year. That means we are still probably going to take a wideout high up in the draft. Bench is gonna be crowded.

    • mf13ss says:

And I agree with this, totally. But he truly is a game-changer as a kick-returner.

  35. Rhino says:

This FA feels like last year’s approach to OL … sign FA and double down in the draft.
    OR
on paper our #3 pick is ‘easier’ to trade down (not feeling like we missed out on something urgent), or BPA (non-QB) on their board regardless of position. It could also make that #18 a lot easier to take a RB.

  36. Tim Knight says:

I’m cool with Will Fuller on a one year deal. Matt Skura on a one year deal is good too. We seem to be doing a lot of these 1 and 2 year deals. As we tweak the roster. The draft is our biggest chip to really upgrade.

  37. mf13ss says:

    Tim should be here soon…

    Tim Knight says:

    If things remain the same.
    #3 OT Penei Sewell
    #18 C Creed Humphrey
    #36 OLB Azeez Ojulari
    #50 RB Javonte Williams

I’m not as worried about WR as others are. Block the play, control the clock, score points and get after the QB. We have good coverage.
    —————
In so many ways, I LOVE THIS! BUT… you KNOW that the RBs (Javonte Williams and Najee Harris) won’t last to the late 2nd round. Too early for a Center @ R1P18 (JMO, not trying to crap on you), and my guy Azeez Ojulari is probably going late 1st.

But on paper, I LOVE IT! I mean, this could truly work!

  38. i would like to see Jaylen Waddle drafted to replace Grant

hes got what You want in WR and PR skills

    • mf13ss says:

Right there with ya, but we’ve acquired our deep-threat in Will Fuller!

      • mf13ss says:

Know what else? It’s pretty great to have a special teams player who’s a stud, who doesn’t get the risk of injury by playing regular Offensive or Defensive snaps.

  39. CavalierKong says:

I am really good with the way we approached this FA period. I think we probably were talking with players like Golloday, Andrews, etc, but we had our lines and wouldn’t cross them. We weren’t going to overpay, period.

We added a number of depth pieces that increase the overall talent level, a couple of potential starters, added speed to our WR room, and a big back for short distance (which we were terrible at last year).

IMO the only thing we have to do early in the draft is add passrush, otherwise I think we can let the draft come to us and add any number of quality pieces depending on what is there. If we trade down and add another pick or two (hopefully another 1st next year), then we get BPA.

Once we see the final numbers on these contracts, we’ll see if we are rolling any over, plus the cap will jump back up, and everything we did this year will allow a bunch of flexibility next offseason. I think se managed our cap very well.

The real key will be to see if the team progresses and takes the next step this year. The playoffs is a requirement in my mind. Even if one and done, as long as we get there.

  40. Rhino says:

Parker, Fuller, Gesicki, and say one of Chase/Smith/Waddle would mean we’d have at least two who could separate quickly, Parker dominating the sideline throws… lots of good hands on the field at the same time.

    • stangerx says:

If we still take one of the top 3 WRs we’ll be stocked for sure. I’m wondering if there is an explosive slot guy we can take a bit lower.

  41. CavalierKong says:

  42. stangerx says:

What we are getting with Will Fuller. 879 yards in 11 games ain’t bad.
    ——————-
“Fuller is coming off the best season of his career, with the former Notre Dame star hauling in 53 passes for 879 yards (16.6 YPC) and eight touchdowns in just 11 games, setting career highs in each of those categories. Fuller’s season was cut short after he was suspended for a positive test for performance-enhancing substance.”

  43. The Flying Pig says:

I hope those signings don’t discourage us from drafting either a RB, WR or Center

They all sound like classic stop gap type of deals

  44. mf13ss says:

Not sure why, but I’ve a feeling… a feeling that we’re targeting Micah Parsons. WOW, he’d be an absolute KILLER on the edge as a pass-rusher, before eventually becoming an ILB/MLB for us.

Haven’t heard the latest on Micah’s allegations, but if our Phins have sleuthed it out to the positive, he’s certainly a target for us as an EDGE pass-rusher, and future ILB/MLB.

    • Rhino says:

Holy Shit I was just going to type that same thing. We could even trade back a bit and STILL get him.

He could have a chance to be Flores’ “Hightower” in the Fins D

      • mf13ss says:

        That’s right, Rhino!

But beware… the allegations against Parsons are that he willingly participated in hazing and bullying rituals at PSU. Steve Ross will NOT have another Richie Incognito on his team… EVER!

I hope we can sleuth it out, for Parsons would be a HOMERUN pick for us.

    • pheloniusphish says:

Long as you don’t get hooked on it…

  45. CavalierKong says:

Unfortunately, most of the fun is over for the next month until we hit draft week.

    • The Flying Pig says:

You Are underestimating the next month

Stage 1: free agency period ends, start picking our favorite draft prospects

Stage 2: argue with others about what our holes are

Stage 3: argue with others about how to address those holes

Stage 4: second guess your own argument

Stage 5: claim to have always been a fan of _______ when some one else claims to be a fan of ______

Stage 6: react to the teams public statements about free agents

Stage 7: react to the teams public statements about their approach to the draft

      stage 8: disagree with Tim

      Stage 9: agree with Tim

Stage 10: debate some one else’s mock draft

Stage 11: compliment someone else’s mock draft

      Stage 12: drink bourbon

Stage 13: review updated draft boards again. What is PFF thinking!?!

Stage 14: laugh at something the jests did it n the last month

Stage 15: pick clothes out for draft

Stage 16: tune in early. Marvel at Kipers hair

Stage 17: get tense right before Dolphins pick

      Stage 18: relax, it’s just a commercial

      Stage 19: react to pick

Stage 20: limber up for fetus position in preparation for crying in the shower after draft

Stage 21: say something positive about who’s left on the board

    • pheloniusphish says:

      Ima stay at Stage 12

  46. mf13ss says:

Just imagine if we landed (if vetted regarding legal allegations –>) Micah Parsons (LB), followed by the likes of either Greg Rousseau or Jayson Oweh (DEs)? WOAH!!! Our pass-rush would be killer!

  47. stangerx says:

” I don’t think that this is going to deter anybody’s interest in Deshaun Watson if they are or considering a trade for him. Again, they are curious about this particular case. They are aware of the fact that no criminal charges have been filed. They will seek more information. But in speaking to some teams that are potentially interested in Deshaun Watson, they seemed to be ready to move ahead with him if somehow Houston is willing to trade him.”
    — Adam Schefter

  48. Tim Knight says:

If we sign Carson I’d say that would push RB down the draft board. He gives us 4 RBs with Brown, Gaskin and Ahmed. How many RBs do we need?

OL, Edge, LB and WR could be what we’re targeting early.

  49. Tim Knight says:

Sounds like Chris Carson to the Dolphins is a bit premature from some stuff I’ve read.

    • CavalierKong says:

No change for Fox and CBS.

Amazon will carry Thursday night football exclusively.

Disney keeps MNF on ESPN. ABC gets to air 3 stand alone MNFs.

DirecTV keeps exclusive rights to the NFL package.

      • CavalierKong says:

        NBC keeps SNF

      • CavalierKong says:

        This is for 2023 forward

      • stangerx says:

Welcome to the new world when the only way to get a football game is by steaming it. Am assuming Dolphins games will still be on my local channel for Thursday games like before though.

      • CavalierKong says:

Stang, the way I read it, in 2023 they won’t be on your local channel. Amazon is paying for exclusivity.

      • stangerx says:

I read it as unclear as written. I would be shocked if the home market can’t watch a game though. That could cause riots, including with the owners.

  50. stangerx says:

Interesting twist to the Yets plans — “the Jets have until May 3 to decide on Darnold’s $18.8 million fifth-year option for 2022.” And is even worth that?

  51. CavalierKong says:

Stang, I’m not sure why the term exclusive rights isn’t clear enough for you. TNF used to be part of a tri-cast to include local markets, now it’s exclusive to Amazon. Maybe this is clearer for you?

“The league announced Thursday it’s renewing TV rights with all of its existing broadcast partners and adding Amazon Prime Video as an exclusive partner for its Thursday Night Football package. It’s the first time a streaming service will carry a full package of games exclusively. Amazon is paying about $1 billion per year, according to people familiar with the matter. All the packages are for 11 years, the league said.”

    https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/18/nfl-media-rights-deal-2023-2033-amazon-gets-exclusive-thursday-night.html

    • CavalierKong says:

And again, this is starting in 2023, not this year

    • CavalierKong says:

Nevermind. I apologize for the sarcasm, you are right. I just found this on CNN of all places

Fans in local markets will still be able to watch their teams the old fashioned way on TV.

      • CavalierKong says:

In a new agreement, Amazon would be responsible for all the production costs and would still need to pay a local broadcaster to produce the game for home markets, as the NFL wants the Thursday night games to be broadcast on local TV in each of the participating teams’ home markets.

      • stangerx says:

All cool…. and I didn’t actually know, just couldn’t see it being any other way. The owners take care of their fan bases.

We got a difference maker on an OD contract for relatively cheap, as long as he doesn’t hit too many incentives

  54. steveccnv says:

We still need to draft a WR, just as before, because Fuller is on a 1 year deal, but we don’t have to reach

    • Tim Knight says:

Agreed. You don’t have to draft a WR early, there are always quality WRs available in other rounds. It’s all about the board.

Why? Was he in Atlanta or does he just have ties, since she was from Atlanta?
    ———–
The reports are that she was from Atlanta, and a massage parlor masseuse. Deshaun allegedly flew one (or more) from an Atlanta parlor to his home in Texas.

And the allegations against Deshaun began immediately after the Atlanta massage parlor shooter did what he did.

  61. mf13ss says:

    THINK ABOUT IT…

There was a shooter who targeted Atlanta massage parlors just the other day. Left several dead, and it’s tragic… this came out of NOWHERE, and it was NATIONAL NEWS.

Same day, some woman from an Atlanta massage parlor states that she was flown to Deshaun Watson’s residence and was sexually assaulted by him in the past.

Now then… is that not what one could call OPPORTUNISTIC, cashing in on a tragedy?

Look, I’m no genius, but I call BULL$HIT on this… note the “$”.

23m over the cap, before the day started, 10m for Fuller, so 13m and likely 5m for Skura, so about 8m, and we need 8.4 for rookies.

McKinney to be reworked, would keep us under, but word is we’re still trying to sign FAs, so other moves to be made.

McCain will have to take a pay cut or redo his contract. Howard will likely get redone.

Parker is a candidate for some contract changes as is Ogbah.

We could also cut some guys, but that doesn’t leave much wiggle room.

I don’t know about that, it seems as if they are signing a veteran to a short deal for every position they intend to draft a replacement for. Melvin Ingram would be a perfect transition player for a rookie pass rusher.

I’d be all in for Ingram. The last game I went to was in SD and he beat RTs ass

  68. steveccnv says:

Now that we have Fuller I’m all in on Pitts

  69. The Flying Pig says:

Think Melvin Ingram would settle for a short contract?

  70. i think its a huge speculative reach to think Deshaun had anything to do with the Atlanta murders .
and i dont ignore the womens claims,

this Atlanta murderer committed a hate crime against asians, likely inspired by some other racists he follows, and Deshaun is a POS

If Deshaun has consent and assault problems, then thats on him, he doesnt get a free pass based on other events around the nation,

i dont see where they are related, and i dont think blaming or disparaging the korean victims and causing further harm to their families is the answer .
nor coming up with crazy stuff that isnt supported by evidence

i would NOT give multiple first round picks for Watson, imagine what the team could get for trading the number one pick down? the 3 pick has enormous value, too much to waste on Watson IMO

  71. the Atlanta suspects brother says that his brother, the suspect, was a very avid trump supporter, hard working republican, were what he claims.

all the hate and racism that trump spewed, is still killing off Americans in the name of patriotism?

there are graphs showing hate crimes and murder numbers against asians spiked when trump was elected, and when he started with the chinese virus hate speeches
so the numbnuts domestic terrorist trumptard, kills off korean women because hes driven with hate and rage against someone who never would harm him
the reptiles are ugly when they are exposed, and their leader can go to hell with blood on his hands

    • steveccnv says:

Don’t start with the unfounded BS. Your party has lots of deaths on their hands in nursing homes

      • i wouldnt start with anything unfounded, only evidence based from the FBI, WH< and Asian American Violence watch groups

Stop AAPI Hate, a group that tracks incidents of discrimination and xenophobia against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, said found nearly 3,800 incidents of hate, discrimination or attacks on Asian Americans from March 2020 through February 2021. The group has said Asian Americans have been blamed for the pandemic and connected the attacks to racist rhetoric from politicians, including former President Donald Trump.

  72. Tim Knight says:

It’s a funny thing. Our team is making subtle moves adding players in FA they like and we’re drawn into the Deshaun Watson drama stuff. Why are we always connected to some kind of bullshit? I just want to see us build a contending team.

Saban and Parcells leave us in the middle of the night. The backstabbing from Ross and Ireland against Sparano. Philbin and Bully-gate. Tannebaum and Gase not on the same page. Tank for Tua. Now go after Deshaun Watson with allegations hanging over him. WTF?!!!

I’m so happy Grier and Flores seem very grounded.

  73. Tim Knight says:

David, the attack on Asian Americans due to Covid is ignorant and sad. But it’s not simply Trump supporters and white people. In inner cities all over the country many black (African American) people despise Korean and Chinese people. They don’t get along. The same thing with Jewish people.

If a politician influences you to hate someone you’re an idiot. That’s not most people. That’s people who identify themselves based on their politics. The tribal mentality is really bad for this country. That’s not how it works in America. All citizens of all ancestry have the same rights. The problem is the people. 330M people compared to hundreds and thousands of elected officials. It’s science.

    • You are correct that Asian Americans also get attacked by black people, they get it from all sides for sure.

but the only real answer is to address the underlying problems of racism and violence against women and minorities
for a president to encourage racism and hatred to women, cant be helpful to this problem that is causing families to mourn the senseless loss of thier sisters, children with no mothers now, etc
systemic racism, and unequal rights for women are an ongoing problem, and if arent addressed, then the problem wont go away by itself, IMO

there is way too much violence and hatred to people that are not deserving of it, IMO

      • Tim Knight says:

No president has done that in our time. But citizens do that everyday. It’s on the people, not the government. The government wouldn’t be involved if the people weren’t engaged in it. They are the representatives of us.

      • our time? well, not since twitter banned him and hes out of office, but the damage he did still remains, and is causing families great loss

      • Tim Knight says:

The divide started long before Trump be he didn’t help unite either.

  74. My wife has had guys blame her for the virus, SMH

its common for her and her family to get blamed for it
if China government is guilty and they suck, i agree they suck, but it doesnt mean that all Asian American citizens are guilty of bringing the plague here

AsianAmericans are catching the virus also, and would rather it not be here like everyone else

We have come this far, and if everyone can put their families and communities first, and not act out violently, then We all can win and beat this together

  75. ocalarob says:

Judging from our FA pick ups, it would appear our main focus on the draft will be on the defensive side of the ball.

    • The Flying Pig says:

      I agree

I expect you too be very defensive when we draft jamarr chase and Najee Harris in the first round……lol

  76. steveccnv says:

The guy in Atlanta that killed those people was a religious man. He said he killed, because of the temptation the massage parlors represented to him, and needed to remove the temptation.

Somehow this was Trump’s fault, because some biased Asian group said so

    • thats unfounded crap. and totally tone deaf to the victims and their families

Several Asian American lawmakers testified Thursday on Capitol Hill on the rise in violence and discrimination against Asian Americans amid the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the words of former President Trump and other Republicans have inflamed tension.

The House Judiciary Committee hearing was scheduled before a gunman opened fire at three Atlanta-area spas, killing eight people, including six women

    • racist cowardly murderers are honest and can be trusted? i disagree

and one instance isnt the problem, its hundreds of thousands of instances

      • steveccnv says:

You’re assuming just because the people are Asian it has to be about race.

Again, just because someone, usually someone speaking politically, says something doesn’t make it so.

Your proof is this group said it so it true.

        You’re very gullable

      • steveccnv says:

And when there’s real proof like 1000s of affidavits and video evidence you call it conspiracy and lies

  77. its not surprising that some would pretend the korean families their problems dont exist, and make excuses for the cowardly trump supporter murder suspect

but its pathetic, AMerican families are feeling real loss that cant be lied away with more trump support

this problem wont get fixed by making excuses for trump , it has to be confronted head on

    • steveccnv says:

You say you want to fix the problem, but you don’t. You just want to make it political. You think you’re helping, but you’re not. All you’re doing is propagating.

      • if trump had NO party affiliation, the blame would still fall on his shoulders, even his own staff warned him about causing violence over politicizing this saying chinese virus

i cant fix the problem by myself, thats for sure, but if you were my neighbor, and someone was threatening You and Your family, id be there to help You

i still believe in the concept of family, and community, lol im sure its important to You also

  78. what would a guy tell your wife and daughter when they talk about this, their fears arent justified? somebody said trump never said chinese virus? they should be quiet, and just die?

we can say FULL STOP, no more bullshit about the orange failure

I wont lie to My family, they already know who and what trump did anyway

Paying a lot for 2 Cs

  81. pheloniusphish says:

Why do I have to choose between Mary Ann and Ginger? Why can’t I pick both? This is bullshit!

  82. steveccnv says:

Since Fuller will miss week 1, the game will of course be at the cheats to take advantage, that may give us another WR making the roster that might be cut the next week.

I say may, because of contract implications, not sure how they handle a guy being on the roster week 1 and not have his year contract guaranteed

    • son of a son of a shula says:

That full guarantee is for veterans a rookie can be put back on the PS with no guarantees owed.

      • steveccnv says:

That’s kind of my point, the last WR to make the team may not exactly be on the 53 after week 1. Perry?

  83. steveccnv says:

Fuller is exactly the WR we need. 4.33 to open things up for everyone else and has good hands and jump ball ability.

Everything you want in a deep threat. Stills was lacking great hands and jump ball skills

  84. Rockphin says:

    • steveccnv says:

I’m surprised that they regarded us as 2 wins better, not that we weren’t, just that they usually don’t give us the benefit of the doubt.

The cheats on the other hand could’ve signed 5 journeymen and they would’ve been on top.

This will be big cheats last hurrah, he’s never mortgaged the future before. I take it to mean this will be his last year, especially if they don’t make the playoffs

NFL set for 75% revenue increase per season in 11-year, $113 billion TV/streaming deal; Amazon gets Thursdays

If true would the cap be over 300m for 2023?

319m is 182.5 X 1.75, based off of this year, so if 2022s cap is say 210m, then the 2023 cap would be 367m.

Seems like the media deal would just increase that part of the revenue increase, and not the entire revenue stream, but maybe they factored that in.

My guess would be Omar is wrong, numbers aren’t his strong suit, blocking is😉

  86. steveccnv says:

Thursday night is where fans will see the biggest change, with Amazon getting exclusive streaming rights to those games. Local markets will still air games over broadcast TV, but other fans will need to be Amazon Prime subscribers (or have a friend willing to lend their login) to watch.

  87. steveccnv says:

What do the deals mean for the future of football-watching?
In announcing the deal, the NFL touted its expanded streaming presence, with games on Amazon, ESPN+ and network streaming partners. Both NBC and ESPN will have exclusive games on their streaming platforms. CBS will also make all of its telecasts available on Paramount+, its streaming service. All three media companies hope to use the NFL to boost their subscribers. (Fox’s ad-supported streaming service, Tubi, will also be utilized.)

But legacy media companies remain the predominant home of the NFL. The league has always prided itself on reaching the most fans, and the best way to do that continues to be broadcast TV.

The broadcast channels will likely increase the fees they charge cable companies to carry them over the life of the deal, meaning fans will ultimately pay for some of the higher rights fees. Fans will also have to purchase multiple streaming services–ESPN+, Peacock, Amazon Prime–to watch NFL every game.

Now you guys that always back the players know why I don’t, it’s us against them. The more they make, the more we pay.

  88. steveccnv says:

Fuller being always hurt is only a big negative, if he’s out at the end of the year and playoffs. Otherwise we should have enough guys to get us thru his injury weeks.

2019 we were depleted and still scored 30 a game at the end. Last year we were more depleted, because of the opt outs.

  89. The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think 12-4 is a half bad prediction for us next year

If anything it’s short a couple of wins…lol

You know what’s interesting about that chart Rock posted though: teams like the colts, Steelers and Titans getting worse on the chart

That doesn’t even include bills, raiders, and ravens getting worse by a small margin)

If you give this chart weight our path to the playoffs is easier than it was a year ago

Of course I know there’s an argument this this chart means nothing

But I guaranty the same people that argue it means little for us will be caressing the chart while telling you how much better the patriots are now….

    • steveccnv says:

For sure the cheats won’t win 14, and 12 is a fair number for us, if Tua takes the next step.

FA isn’t over yet and we still have the draft, so it’s far from a complete chart, and it doesn’t factor in intangibles and injuries and the FAs fitting in

  90. steveccnv says:

Crabbs says with the signing of Fuller, Grant with a 2.9m or 4.1m cap savings after June cut puts him at risk.

I agree and we’ve talked a little bit about that here. Waddle getting drafted would completely remove the need for Grant

Chris Carson could be what the Miami Dolphins need at running back
    by Brian Miller1 m ago
The Miami Dolphins may be looking to add a running back who has starting ability sooner rather than later and it appears to be Chris Carson.

Rumors floated around social media on Thursday that the Dolphins and the reps for Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson were close on a deal. Later someone said that the report was not accurate but did not deny the two sides were meeting.

As the hours on Thursday ticked away, a deal had not been reached but if one does get completed, the Dolphins may not need to look at the draft as a top priority.

he isn’t a touchdown machine. In his four seasons, he has 21 touchdowns on the ground and another 7 through receiving. They are modest numbers and won’t turn anyone off.

    ORob would thrilled

  93. steveccnv says:

New cap numbers are in and we’re 12.479m under. Leaving us just over 4m under if we stay with the current draft picks.

When I figured 8.4m for rookies, it was before these FA signings, so the number will go down a bit, since the bottom 7 in the top 51 are now a little higher, after some lower ones already fell off.

Even so that’s only 51, by season start we’ll have to add 2 more, about 1.5m, to make it all 53

    • steveccnv says:

Plus a small amount for PS

    • stangerx says:

So basically we busted what was left of our nut on Fuller. But can still sign more so long as willing to push the hit forward…. whether in the contract or restructures of those of other players.

  94. stangerx says:

Skura’s $1.75 million means he’s not a locked in starter. That’s back-up money. He’ll be competing. Probably with Deiter and maybe with a draft pick.

  95. stangerx says:

This should matter to a number of you.
