Liam Eichenberg, ND … 2nd team All American … played every game for last 3 yrs … in 12 games this past season he did not give up a single sack … zero. That includes two games vs Clemson and the playoff game vs Alabama.
He could certainly be there at top of 2nd round, although I think Ravens will take him with one of their late first rd picks.

Given they are holding a 6-ish hour headbangers ball in the stadium in June, I will be surprised if they were not allowing tailgating.

  4. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I have a feeling the Dolphins might be targeting Alex Leatherwood in the 2nd round

  5. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Rhino, That is a good point on OT. The second round OT’s are really solid also. Samuel Cosmi is another.

  6. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

As long as they take Parsons and Paye in the first they can take as many WR, RB, an OL as they want later.

  7. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Hate I missed that draft last night. Spent the last 2 days/nights at the Hilton on Pensacola Beach for a last minute getaway. TBH, Chase at #6 would be my 4th option out of Pitts, Parsons, Sewell and Chase. That will make one crowded WR room unless we trade someone on the roster come draft day which could very well happen.

  8. pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Mike – Rep says tailgating will absolutely be allowed.

  9. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

MikeE, I get what you are saying. We have our roster. It’s about upgrading positions now.

  10. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

BBM – Ford, Merritt, Locksley, Hollins, Foster and one or both of the vets (Wilson and Hurns)

  11. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Just went back and reviewed the FU Mock from last night …. I agree with Piggy, the second half was a clusterf@#k LOL.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We took Najee, so why did we care who was taken 19-32?

      • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

LOL. good point. Everybody had their Najee-gasm and immediately fell asleep. 😮😴

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tonight when we don’t take Najee at 18 we’ll be sweating out every pick hoping 1 of top 3 RBs is still on the board

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Steve I honestly think the Najee picks makes the most sense at 18. And I didn’t vote for najee last night I voted for an OT

But at 18 najee just seems like the safest pick. If the Dolphins can trade down a little I think they will

I also don’t think the Steelers will take a RB, the real threat to take Najee are the Bills IMO

  12. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

Morning of draft … if we take a pass catcher at #6 I have to say Chase over Pitts for me.
Pitts has ONE productive season (6 of his 12 TDs were in the first 2 games of the season). He finished the season with some big yardage games BUT …

… Chase was sharing the ball in 2019 with a lot of guys and he STILL had 8 games of 140+ yds (3 of 220+ yds) and 20 TDS.

Think of how Jarvis Landry was our first down machine and now make him bigger, faster, and even more alpha and we have Chase in crossing routes and I believe he’d be even more productive than Pitts in that role.

My only concern was Chase’s year off (SEC never hesitated to play). I think I’d even rather have Smith over Pitts. Am I the only one with a nagging feeling that Pitts will need a specific system to be the unicorn…, while certainly deserving of top 10 pick, just call him WR cuz his blocking sucks. Yes he has games where he breaks 100 yds, but Chase and Smith log 200 yd games like flipping on a light switch.

Pitts will move chains, but so can Chase, Waddle, and Smith. Plus, the 3 WR are WAY more of a threat YAC. I hope Atlanta takes Pitts so we don’t have to agonize as a fanbase. 🙂

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Pitts’ game translates to NFL, forget about college stats.

No one can cover him, he doesn’t drop passes, he’s a beast on 3rd down and on the goal line.

      What more do you want?

      • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

I’m certainly not saying he can’t be productive in NFL, I’m saying if we have to choose between him and Chase when we are on the clock, I’d go Chase cuz I think Chase will be far more productive doing those same things as Pitts.

  13. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

I also hope Jets take Wilson … it’s like they are drafting an actor to play QB… they keep drafting guys that all kind of have this ‘square-headed, close hair cut’ guy that will be shipped off when they get impatient. I think Fields would elevate their game right off the bat, but he doesn’t fit their “market model”. I don’t know this, obviously, but its a big picture impression I’ve developed.

  14. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

I’m working from home today (tax prep, ugh) so I’ll have sports shows on all day … I’ll be so worked up by the time draft actually starts I’ll probably exaggerate the significance of every single pick. LOL

I miss the late 70’s and early 80’s when we simply read a list of who we drafted and thought: “ok rookie, show us what you got”. Draft Day has certainly become part of the Entertainment industry. So, I guess, yes “I AM entertained”. lol

I guess East coast guys all had to get to work.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Watching sports shows the day of the draft (which is exactly what I’m doing now) is such a huge mistake

They are just going to throw out rumors and predictions and blah blah blah
Probably less than 10% of what they say today has any value

  17. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

If we draft Chase does Tua give him the number 1 jersey? Since backs and receivers are now allowed to use single digits.

  18. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

When I look at the WRs on our roster I look at those currently on the top 51, the rest, except Preston and Bowden I feel are just PS material.

Parker, Fuller, Wilson, Grant, Hurns, Foster and Hollins made the list add Preston and Bowden for 9.

These guys need to be accounted for.

Locks seem to be Parker, Fuller and Preston and add a rookie, if we draft one in top 5 rounds.

Foster with 100k in guarantees meh, but he will get a chance to compete, and was productive in Buffalo, plays fast.

Hollins 337k guaranteed, not huge, but WHT throw that money away, if you’re not planning on keeping him. You know what he can do his camp, unless he regresses too much, doesn’t mean much.

That leaves Grant, Hurns and Wilson all 3 I believe will be gone cut/traded, saving 6.3m and maybe more, if cut after June 1st, but what do I know about the teams plans.

Of the 7 others above 6 should make it, not sure who the odd man out will be. Foster not much guaranteed, but shows up on tape. Hollins an ST specialist and we’ve paid more to have guys mainly playing STs, so… Bowden has about 1m in guarantees and we gave up draft capital for, but this FO doesn’t seem to keep those that don’t fit where the team is going and many of the other 2020 acquisitions are already gone.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I would add Preston Williams to your list of potentially gone not, rather than a lock. He can’t stay on the field. On the plus for him, he is inexpensive. Shoot, with this regime I can see Parker traded and replaced.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

When he’s been on the field he’s been really good.

If Belicheat used that logic Gronk would’ve never been.

First year a freak punt return injury I believe, then last year the DB from AZ hellicoptered him, hurting his foot, coupled with a fresh PUP urinating all over him.

You can’t have a short leash with potentially great players, that have already shown signs

    • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

I’m really interested to see how they handle Hurns and Wilson. Interesting how we haven’t heard a peep about these guys. Parker, Fuller, Williams are the only 3 that I love being on the roster. How they handle the rest of the WRs, in any direction (ST, cut, trade, keep) I will be fine with. I can definitely see Grant having some trade value because of ST and replace him with someone with MUCH better hands. I guess rd 1 and 2 will reveal how Flores really feels about all these ‘bubble’ receviers.

  19. Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

    Piggy,
The A’s have a day game today vs Rays … with pre and post game I think I can eat up about 5 hours away from ‘draft speculation’. That will just leave me with about 3 hours until the draft starts. I am going to listen to counsel and remove myself from the ‘last-chance-hype’. 🙂

  20. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yes and Tua switches to number Tua
    _______________________________

I agree, he will switch to the back up qb.
    i’m glad we finally agree.

  25. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

This FO will definitely have some hard decisions tonight with where we are positioned.

  26. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

taking a WR at 6 is a huge mistake, we have good rec corps, it aint the recs it’s the guy who can’t throw them the ball.
you take sewell at 6, you take the bpa at edge at 18.

    then take your candy

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Stop describing skill positions as “candy”

This isn’t 1954. Teams aren’t wearing leather helmets anymore.

Skill positions are difference makers. The better you have the more likely you are to strike with bigger plays. It’s just that simple.

We struggled to score last year

With better skill players, maybe 6 points becomes 14 points on the same plays

  27. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

taking a wr at 6 to appease Tua is compounding your mistake @ #5 last year.

    • sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

You’re not drafting a WR at 6 to appease Tua, you’re doing it to elevate a position of weakness on the team. He needs weapons and if he can’t use them, the next guy will. That being said, I don’t feel we go WR at #6. I think the regime sees them as something we can grab in round 2 or lower.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if you take a wr at 6 and we may only have 5 recs on the team, you have 8 guys which most contributed last year all vets, which 4 do you dump to make room for #6?

parker, williams, will fuller are all starters and vets,
hurns, wilson, grant, bowden, hollins who plays ST & Perry,

Parker, DeVante Bowden Jr., Lynn , Grant, Jakeem , Merritt, Kirk Hollins, Mack , Wilson, Albert , Fuller, Will , Williams, Preston, Ford, Isaiah, Perry, Malcolm, Foster, Robert

  28. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

The first team on the clock better not take the entire duration of time either.

  29. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    Piggy
you can bet with the acquisition of brown, the beef we drafted last year Flores is gearing up for a power running game, he is playing the down and distance on 2nd down game, he’s not trying to have a Mahomes to hill wide open run & shoot offense.
he wants to impose his will on you and play great defense.

  30. bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

Steve, Re: trading down for Parsons, yeah I can agree. I was just trying to do one without trading. Rock hasn’t been on yet today so I didn’t have the “Trady Pants” influence. LOL

I think in order to get Najee, we may have to trade down then trade back into 1st in order to get Harris.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

In that scenario above I’d say yes, he won’t be available at 36

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I would still be happy to trade down for parsons and take Williams at #36 if Harris is gone. Use the extra picks for more talent. End up in the first 3 rounds with:
      Micah Parsons LB
      Teven Jenkins T
      Javonte Williams HB
      Joe Tryon Edge/DE
      Elijah Moore WR
      Jamin Davis LB
That would be a sick draft IMO.

  31. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Gesicki’s problem is, when he is in the game, D’s anticipate we will be passing due to his poor blocking ability, i’m not sure but pitts may fall in this same category.

the best offensive strategy is to keep the D guessing and gesicki doesn’t do that for us.

  32. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Trade to 9 and use the extra picks to move back into the first.

We could get Waddle, Owusu and Najee

  33. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We may even see us drop down to 19 or 20, then back down to 11ish, then trade 19 or 20 to get to 27.

MTP would have a blast running this draft

  34. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Here’s what I think will happen in the first 6 picks

    1. Lawrence
    2. Wilson
    Those two picks are easy

3 is where it gets weird I think the rumors are true about the 49ers passing on fields for another QB

So 3. mac Jones or Trey lance
    I don’t know which

Then at 4 I don’t think Atlanta will take a WR/TE. I think they are trading down and benefit from the Justin Fields sweepstakes

I also think Atlanta wants to rebuild their defense. Their losses last year were notables. A lot of 4th qtr chokes.

I think Carolina trades up to 4 after shipping bridgewater to Denver yesterday
    4. Carolina – Justin fields

Completing the first ever 4 QBs with first 4 picks

Then at 5 the smart move for the bengals is to take an OT. But this draft is deep at OT and their QB is pleading for his old teammate. At 5 I think the bengals break my heart and take Jamarr Chase. Look for the bengals to trade back into the first to take that OT

So that means Pitts falls to us at 6 and we take Pitts

    This is the oink prediction

Agree with the 🐷 or suffer the snouties

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i think you’re correct with cincy, atl is a coin toss, they more than likely will take pitts, or maybe a qb, caro just got darnold and one would think they are not in a position to give up future assetts that it would take to make that move

    • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I hope so Piggy. I’ve kinda latched on to those two ‘WRs’ so I’d like to see one in aqua and orange

  35. New Age's avatar New Age says:

I’ve been seeing a lot of Waddle at 6 lately with Pitts and Chase both gone. I’d definitely try to trade back at that point because I just don’t see him at 6. He started 9 games in college and never had 700 yards. I wouldn’t mind getting but at 6? Nahhh. Maybe 9 but he was the most likely to be available at 18 a few months ago. Nothing but smoke has happened since then.

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

If we are looking at waddle at 6, it’s probably bc pitts and chase are off the board

And if that is true than fields must be on the board
And so a trade to 8 or 9 might work

      • New Age's avatar New Age says:

I think Fields is a legit top QB option. Guy tore Clemson a new hole and was just overpowered by a better Bama team. I guess it all depends on the doctors in his case

  36. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

best case scenario, atl takes pitts, cincy takes chase and we get sewell, he’s a great run blocker and that’s what we really need.

    Waddle selected 4 times

Normally get like 20-29. Go through the group tix office and they assign you a rep (who sticks with you year by year unless leaves the job or gets reassigned). You put your deposit down and they later have a “seat draft.” Earlier you put your deposit down higher up you are in the draft order.

But maybe your luxury box rep has a way to get seats before the draft.

    I’d take Rodgers,

Stanger – I’ll check with my rep and see if he can do anything special. In regards to why Cincy is taking Sewell – They broke their shiny new QB last year due to atrocious OL play. Keeping Burrow healthy is more important than giving him a familiar woobie. Nothing to do with Miami throwing the bouquet.

When the trade talk about Deshaun started we were a different team and I said we’re a playoff team with him and we especially would be with Rodgers but we made moves that made this draft vital to our future. If we gave away this draft for Rodgers now we’d struggle more so.

How will tonight go? According to a source in the thicket of the top of the draft: “There are so many teams trying to trade up right now. I think you’re going to see a record amount of trades.”

  68. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I don’t think Harris fits Flores definition of a RB, look at Gaskin and Ahmed, they are small shifty guys with power, malcom brown 5’11” 222lbs.

    Harris is 6’2″ 230lbs.

If we do take a RB early I think Javonte fits Flores defined RB better.

  69. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Son, I honestly don’t have a feel for who’ll take. If teams are going to jump all over each other for QBs it will change who’s available at other positions. There are quite a few prospects I like and would be happy with. Whoever we take, I just want them to make the team better so we become a perennial playoff team for years to come. 🙂

Here is my understanding of the Aaron Rodgers situation: Rodgers and the #Packers have been negotiating a long-term contract offer. They’ve been working on it for weeks. Rodgers has been unhappy at times during those moments. No deal is done, and he’s not happy now.

  71. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Most of why I keep having us get Smith is because we trade out because Pitts is gone. How could you not like pairing Smith with Tua win for us.

  74. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i hear SF may be a rodgers target, what if they gave up #3 for Rodgers?

that would spin the ship a little.

  75. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

    Tim,
the best way to predict the future is to look back at the past, a tiger doesn’t change his stripes.
i’m just using what Flores has done in the past to gauge that move.
i wouldn’t think it very likely that flores would want a 6’2″ RB when he has a track record of RB’s under 6′.
in some cases not all, being a tall RB is detrimental in the pros, being that big gives LBers a better chance to get a bead on you.
    there are some exceptions,

I’m just speculating though, we could take Harris.

  76. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    I didn’t realize Harris is 6′ 2″

  78. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I think the harris convo is similar to the Smith convo. I don’t think our hc says ‘we don’t want him because he’s too tall or too light.”

I think they say “is this guy a football player, and will he make plays for us”

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If our FO likes what they bring to the table, and the draft falls a certain way, then I think they’ll take them.

I guess what I’m really saying is I don’t think either of them are off our board because of height or weight.

Najee Harris is also and exceptional receiver, not just out of the backfield as a check down, but down the field running routes. He’s a dual threat. And as M13 likes to point out, he’s also very good in pass pro.

i think the fins will miss out on Pitts and Chase,
in some ways it would have been better to stay at 3 and take Pitts

Waddle may be the BPA at 6, and hes a fine player, but not a giant impact player like Pitts

  89. Randy's avatar Randy says:

    son,
Lol. Do I not make picks much? I tell ya, what I like is this draft is deep in some areas of need for us. I wish there were better options at edge, but this draft is a good fit for our needs. RB, WR, OL are all deep enough that we can kinda mix and match who we go after where if the picks don’t go our way. Lots of options down through the first 3 rounds. This draft should be really impactful on this roster.
