#1, Tua Tagovailoa is the linchpin to our season. There are so many other variables to our team’s success but if our 2nd year QB doesn’t improve significantly from last season, it will be hard for the rest of the team to get further than our 10 win season and for us to get a playoff berth. The 6 guys pictured above, WR DeVante Parker, TE Mike Gesicki, WR Jaylen Waddle, WR Will Fuller, TE Hunter Long and RB Myles Gaskin will also play a huge role in the offense going forward. TE Mike Gesicki is in his final year of his contract so he will be looking to have a big season. Our #6 draft pick this year WR Jaylen Waddle will be an immediate impact player both on offense and special teams as a top notch return man. Our #81 draft pick was TE Hunter Long from Boston College. A bit of surprise this one because I felt we had pretty good depth at TE with Gesicki, Smythe, Shaheen, Myarick and Carter but we probably intend on using multiple TE sets often. Those TE sets put the defense in a tough spot because it can be a power running formation as well as a receiving mismatch with a bunch of 6’6 250 guys that can run that need to be covered. Pair that with a burner like Fuller or Waddle who can take one to the house and big plays can happen.
Let’s get back to Tua. This guy is hungry to be a top player, to be the best he can be. He has been doing extensive weight training, it’s already paid dividends and Tua looks much thicker on his lower half, a huge boon for a QB. He looks bigger on top as well and his arms are certainly stronger as well. Besides the weight training he’s been working diligently on balancing exercises and drills. Better balance helps make a repeatable throwing motion easier and helps distribute the arm strength better. You can question his skill all you want, but you can’t question his heart, desire and sense of responsibility one drop. Once again, Tua’s success will be paramount to the teams success. In addition to Tua doing all he can to better this season, The Dolphins kept up their end of the deal by drafting OT Liam Eichenberg. I can’t tell you for sure that he will be our RT day one but if I were to be a betting man, I’d lay down some cash on that being the case. I do believe our offensive line will be LT Austin Jackson, LG Solomon Kindley, C Matt Skura, RG Robert Hunt and then RT Liam Eichenberg. Those two mountains in the middle, Kindley 6’3 337 and Robert Hunt 6’5 325 have some work to do as far as pass protection, but in my eyes, last year’s O-line was better than I’ve seen in some time. I expect that to improve with a true offseason, training camp and OTA’s.
I’m not going to continue to discuss the need for a RB. I’m in wait and see mode and I see no reason to continue to dwell on an issue that may not be an issue. Other teams do well with undrafted and late round draft picks at the RB position, and we already hit with 2019 7th RD pick Myles Gaskin. If this year’s 7th RD pick Gerrid Doaks shares the same success Gaskin had last season we’ll be just fine at RB. The RB by committe approach ensures fresher legs and also eliminates the worry of relying too much on one player and then trying to change the offense once that player goes down. I think at least 3-4 of these guys will get a fair amount of carries and some weeks one will be the feature back and the next week we’ll change it up to a different rotation. That makes it harder for opposing defenses to game plan against us.
On paper, we have so much more talent at the skill positions at WR and TE it’s actually crazy. Health can and will be a factor as we have a few that unfortunately haven’t been able to stay whole for an entire season. Still, with DeVante Parker, Will Fuller and Jaylen Waddle and then Mike Gesicki and Hunter Long at TE, that’s a lot of talent to cover. Parker always difficult on 50/50 balls thrown his way, Fuller can easily take the top off the defense and make big plays deep downfield. Waddle can do it all, turn short passes into big gains and if teams start coming up on him aggressively, he will make them pay with double moves that leave them in the dust. If teams are forced to double cover Waddle, Fuller or Parker, Gesicki will be a pain one on one against most defensive players. Add in another pass catching TE like Hunter Long and it almost seems unfair. Truth is though, it all starts in the trenches and our O-line will not only need to open holes for Gaskin and company but protect Tua Tagovailoa too. We know Tua was conservative last season, much to the detriment of the offense. He took the easy quick completions often instead of waiting or sometimes even recognizing and seeing players getting open just a few yards further downfield. If the O-line is stout, that will give Tua more confidence to let things develop. Or, the new dual OC’s of Eric Studesville and George Godsey will have to be more creative and move Tua around, who by the way, throws pretty well while on the move.
I look forward to seeing this offense get to work, it’s going to be fun. I’m already quite excited at what we can do and I can’t wait to see them hit the field. On the other hand, if I said it was the offense I look forward to seeing most I’d be lying. I really do want to see the Tua offense in year two, but it’s our defense with Jaelan Phillips, Benardrick McKinney and our most excellent secondary that I wish to see most. I think our defense can be special, one of the top defensive units in the NFL. Josh Allen won’t be so damn cocky and smirky when we play him next. If we want to to get to the top of the division, we have to beat the Bills. They shellacked us, ran over and through us when it counted for us, and we need to be the ones doing the bullying next time around. I think the defense will be a big part of the reason, although much like Buffalo found out, give a QB a great weapon like Stefon Diggs and the offense will be better. Well, we gave Tua the upgrades on offense and now along with our top defense, the QB has to improve with the defense.

Seriously, I can’t remember who our WRs were last year that played a full season. Did any play half a season? Is that normal in the NFL? Honestly, I really don’t know.
This is a typical formation in today’s NFL. This is our RPO and base spread offense.
We all know what Parker is when healthy – a quality tall WR who can high point the ball and has enough speed to get open consistently, catches most of the passes thrown his way.
Fuller is an explosive WR who makes big plays, again, when healthy. He misses a lot of games, but when he’s on the field he’s always a threat.
Waddle is a prospect we all know about. Super speed but also tough for a guy under 5-10 and about 180. Lots of stuff we can do with him. His ankle injury doesn’t make me think he’s injury prone just yet. He did come back for the National Championship game.
Gesicki is a very tall and fast quality receiving TE with an amazing catch radius.
This group with whoever is at RB is not easy to defend.
Parker played in 14 games last year but yes he tends to play banged up or leave games. I don’t consider him a pussy though. That dude makes some nice contested catches.

Wyo’s list was about QB, owner, RBs, AND WRs. I don’t have complaints on this list from last year except WR. I thought we should have started over on that unit. In a lot of ways we may have done that this year, on paper.

I understand people not being high on the RB position. WR has a lot of talent but no doubt durability is a concern. Then there is Tua. Can he take his game to a higher level? Those are the only questions I have about this team. You can add the OL to that but I think that’s going to become a strength. It’s just very young. But I really like the projection there.
On defense, I think we’re building a monster.
Personally, I think a stout OL will allow everyone (all units mentioned) to perform at a higher level, except Ross. ..lol.
And, to your point about D, it sure looks that way, and if so, will also help all the units Wyo mentioned, except Ross, again….

Im not fond of organized religion for this reason, though i am a very big believer in God and my faith and God’s teachings guide me as best they can to be a better person.
All extremists however, are not “God’s people”. God, whether it be Allah, Yahweh, Brahma (since he is the creator), the Jade Emperor, whatever none of them want for death in their name. These are Human intentions and its the perversion of scriptures that have humans tie it to God’s will. I read the same book that a lot of the Christian zealots do and not one have i ever seen anything that say kill thy neighbor lol. I haven’t seen anything that say you shouldn’t have tolerance for other religions, or no religion for that matter, and yes the overall tone of the book is love for others. Just as in the Koran, the only mention of violence was to protect the religion and its people from those that would subjugate it. Evil people in the world have often camouflaged themselves with God to gather people too simple minded to recognize the difference, to do things with a passion for that which they think they know but sadly do not.
Again, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but mine is that if religion is practiced appropriately it enforces the ideals of love, tolerance and oneness, its just unfortunate that so many have used it to divide themselves from one another.
Incidentally, there are a large majority of Christians on the left as well, God is not a Right or Left thing.

Stanger, remember the video I posted of the CB camp Iggy attended a couple weeks back, and you asked me why I was giving him such high praise? BOOM! I saw the development on that tape.
Not asking for some kind of award, but these eyes don’t lie when it comes to DBs. Iggy is going to be very good and very shortly. He will ultimately replace either Xavian or Byron, being both are making MAJOR $$$. I foresee Byron getting dumped (traded, hopefully), and then we’ve got Iggy on a rookie contract with over $10M in cap savings (contingent on the trade details, of course).

I put most of the blame on the system .. we are extremely short of Drs precovid .. it took 2 years of looking for a dr to see me as a patient, basically for maintenance Cholesterol , and blood sugar.. my wife’s DR agreed to see me two months ago .. and by see me , with Covid it was a phone call, pop in grab papers, go to a blood test and a call back after results were in …
That’s ridiculousness. More and more of that kind of thing has been occurring here in the States after 0bamaCare was signed into law. We, too, have/had been experiencing a shortage of doctors… at least here in PA (I can’t speak for anybody else).
It was somewhat rectified after President Trump struck down the individual mandate, but businesses have taken advantage of ‘free health care’ from 0bama. Our premiums and rates have gone SKY HIGH ever since… and they aren’t going back to what it was prior to 0bama.
Hospital stays and most operations are covered by healthcare system, but the wait for getting in is insane. Especially elective stuff or non life threatening procedures .. which is why when borders are open you guys get the influx of Canadians with the cash to pay as opposed to waiting
Couple that with most HC workers, pull part time hours at 3-5 different facilities, and do homecare at personal residences… a lot are in shared family homes of 15 living in one house , with 4-5 all working in HC .. I wonder why our #’s are t getting better
We’ve experienced similar trends. And being that HC here in the States is essentially a Big Biz, they aren’t paying our HC workers what they’re worth. Our nursing homes have become horrendous, basic hospitals don’t provide what was once provided a mere decade ago, the wait for a basic checkup has turned from days to months, and there is generally a lack of HC workers.
They keep them under 40 hours so they (Big Biz) don’t have to pay their HC workers benefits. Thus, these HC workers have to work multiple jobs… just like in Canada, man. Damn shame… SMH

Just over a week ago the Florida Panthers committed the same mistake and subsequently lost in six games to the defending Stanley Cup Champions. I foresee a similar fate for the Canes, who finished first in this division during the regular season.
Should the Bolts win this series, they’ll play the winner of the Jets-Canadiens series in the semi-finals of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This finally healthy Lightning team is, in my opinion, the team to beat in the 2021 Playoffs.

As someone who works in the healthcare field, I can tell you that plans like Obamacare hurt doctors and their practices by lowering the fees they receive for procedures they used to get paid more for. What that does is cause doctors to overbook appointments, so when you go to the doctors office and you see 20 people in the waiting room and 3 have them have appointments at the same time you do, you’ll know why. This in essence degrades the healthcare system too. Doctors are spending less time with patients and spending more time on finding ways to recoup their losses. That kind of thing is what makes smart people choose other professions. Young people are coming out of school with huge debt to begin with, they can find more lucrative professions that the government isn’t controlling. Imagine if Obamacare spread to other professions too like law, mechanical repairs etc . . . That would be the end of free enterprise and capitalism, a very sad destructive end.

Last year Fitz was out for scrimmage and the QBs couldn’t move the ball, if Tua comes in, commands the huddle, and moves the ball he’ll be fine this year, if not…yikes
I think would be too small of a sample size and too early in the process to call it like that. It probably wont alleviate the fears, but even the first scrimmage being a success i wouldn’t put stock in it either…its a scrimmage….the first one….

I believe that to an extent, Waddle will no doubt help, and will make Tua better, just being out there, but Tua has already put in a lot of work and improved more than Iggy has from year 1 to 2.
That statement is just a precursor of things to come this year.

I would with pleasure enter the debate on why Tua is a franchise QB after this season.
It’s gonna be about a lot more than one player. Of course explosive players will help any QB, but it’s never about one player in football.
One constant with sports writers is they don’t like to admit they were wrong.
We see it every year, when they predict a team to make the SB, and with teams they say are garbage.
With Tua once he’s on a roll, they’re going to make every excuse against him to validate, that they were right on him, even though we’ll see the improvement. Gaslighters
I don’t think they have as much pride in their words as you do. Same guys who writing we were tanking for Tua were saying he doesn’t have it as an NFL QB in the offseason.
They write what they think will get clicks.
They have several things motivating them, and they use them all, 2 of which you and I mentioned.
They will bounce around for the flavor of the month, when they don’t have a strong conviction on something, like when they jump on a train (like tank for Tua) what I’m referring to is when they make their own prediction
Think if Tua starts to tear it up they will proclaim him the 2nd coming of Marino. A better headline and read than team got better and Tua has progressed.

Think Lynn Bowden makes the active roster. Unfortunately that means don’t see any way Malcolm Perry does. Just too similar.
Perry could land on the practice squad , but actually think would be better for him to find another team.
Perry could up his chances if he really showed he could handle return duties and be a replacement for Grant in that area. They save more cutting Grant than they would Perry. I know Waddle could fill that role but im not sure how they would feel about their top WR potentially getting injured doing return duties.
Holland does returns as well, but if Perry shows that in camp you never know plus would be good for him wherever he is.
And I’m guessing Grant is gone anyhow. Thinking the 6th WR will be Wilson. But then we haven’t even hit camp yet.
hollands has special team skills so i wouldn’t count him out as of yet, i agree bowden makes the 53
Bowden has draft/trade pedigree, so I’d bet he makes it too.
Would be fairly easy to predict the 6 WRs, if STs didn’t have a role in it, just not sure how they’ll handle the flyers on punt team.

Not sure, i know i didnt mention Holland, maybe they were talking about Hollins, not Holland. I think everyone should thing Holland is a lock but we were talking WR’s not DB’s.
I think some meant Hollins and Stanger mentioned Holland also does returns.
D mentioned that if Perry did returns would help his chances of making the team. Others including me mentioned that Hollands does returns too as in less chance for Perry.
Well and then i think OCRob just said Holland instead of Hollins by accident and it kind made the convo look like we were talking about Holland making it if he can contribute on ST’s when we were talking Hollins lol. We need players with more unique names.
This is the first i noticed we got Duke Riley on the team. He isnt as good as Deion Jones was. I was really big on Jones and Riley was his replacement at LSU and was a solid player. I think Piggy really liked Riley. I though he would be a good pickup as well, i just knew he was no Deion Jones. He could play the hybrid S/LB role which we do seem to want to have. Hope he does really well for us.
After last year, can’t complain about #9.

9. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are suddenly loaded with speed and playmakers after adding Will Fuller V in free agency and drafting Jaylen Waddle with the sixth overall pick. Fuller is coming off a career-high 86.2 overall grade, and as one of the best deep threats in the NFL, he’s consistently made his offenses better. Waddle brings similar potential after averaging 18.9 yards per reception in college while averaging a gaudy 9.8 yards after the catch per reception.
The Fuller/Waddle duo will put defenses in a bind and open things up for DeVante Parker, who adds the size and catch-point skills the speedsters lack. Parker put up the seventh-highest contested-catch percentage in the league over the last two years at 53.1%. The Dolphins also have two other playmakers defenses must account for in Jakeem Grant and Lynn Bowden Jr. Both players are dangerous with the ball in their hands in the short game.
We’ve seen Mike Gesicki emerge as a receiving weapon at tight end since late in 2019, and he had the No. 7 receiving grade among his peers during the regular season last year at 79.4. The backup snaps will be a battle between Durham Smythe, Adam Shaheen and third-rounder Hunter Long, who was one of the better all-around tight ends in the draft.
Overall, the Dolphins are much improved at receiver, and they go from one of the weaker groups to playmakers to one of the fastest and most dangerous.
Im not sure i would want Holland returning kicks either, for the same reason i wouldn’t want Waddle doing it. We have enough players that could contribute to that spot at about the same level with the same potential and not have to risk a young, potentially franchise talent.
I’m one of those guys who doesn’t worry about top players returning kicks and punts. Not sure how our coaches view that though.
I look at it as a value perspective. I mean, yes Waddle can return kicks, he is pretty good at it, but does it outvalue him being on the field as our top target WR? I don’t see it, if you look at what some of the other guys are capable of doing returns, they bring a similar value as a returner and the loss of them as a offensive weapon doesn’t hurt us as bad as Waddle. The fact that i think Holland would be unlikely to be a start right off DB, probably more of a platoon, i look at it as not as big a loss for us as far as missing a big part of our D, but more so potential to stunt his development like MicMillan on his ST ankle snap. Not saying as a general rule i wouldn’t have a top pick in ST’s but i would weight it out like i just described and to me i see Holland and Waddle as big pieces of our future and ones we cant really afford to lose out on just for the benefit they might bring on ST’s. Risk outweighs the benefit for me i guess is the simplest way to say it.
I’d use Waddle sparingly, the way the Panthers used Steve Smith on punt returns, when the game was on the line or they needed a spark

The only stats I rely on from PFF are the ones that are factual. Not opinions on what plays players failed on and what their rankings are based on opinion. Lots of football plays break down and everything changes on the play. You don’t always know who was supposed to do what that didn’t, along with maybe another mistake or two that messed everything up. Those were mental mistakes putting players on the wrong guys. There is no way for PFF to know those circumstances and there are lots of plays like that with all 32 teams during a season. Football is rarely perfect. Too many intangibles. Guys playing hurt too.
The only rankings that mean anything is in the W/L column. If you’re winning a lot of games, you’re probably doing a lot of good things. 🙂

McCain had a solid 6 year NFL career for the Dolphins as a 2015 5th round pick. He’s a pro DB that can help any secondary. We moved on with younger talent – Iggy, Br. Jones and Holland. We also added some new vets in Coleman and McCourty. That’s how the NFL works. I wish good ole Bobby McCain well.
Steve, X has 22 INTs in 56 games over 5 seasons. That’s a lot, in fact he’s 2nd behind only Marcus Peters (23) over the last 5 seasons – with X starting as a rookie. Peters also played in 75 games during that span. X is the top ballhawk in the league right now regardless of coach and system. He’s a ballhawk! Nobody else on the team is doing it at that rate. Nobody else in the league has.
Not trying to take anything away from X, just saying he’s got more int ops under Flores.
How many times during the last 20 years did we see the cheats players get those scheme ints, where the QB was fooled and threw an ill advised pass?
Asante Samuel benefitted from the scheme as well, then traded to Philly and was average at best

Just for the record, Asante Samuel had 22 INTs in 5 years in NE and 23 INTs in 4 years in Philly. His best year in NE was 10 INTS, his best year in Philly was 9 (two years removed from NE).
Also, the year that Howard *only* got 7 interceptions he played in 12 games. He played in 5 games the year after that.
If the point of the argument was to say that good coaches make teams and players better, we already knew that. It’s like saying the only reason we won more games last year than the previous year was because we consistently scored more points than our opponents.
I like to think of it as we kept them from scoring as many as we did, but to each their own lol 🙂
