Thursday night shocker!!!! Dolphins beat Ravens 22-10

Last night was fun! Admittedly, I didn’t watch from start to finish, I vowed not to do that because it was really frustrating me to waste 3+ hours while twisting myself into knots. I care, we all do, that’s why we come here and talk. What happened last night was unexpected. No way in hell did I see that coming. Considering the fact that we were outscored 137-16 (I heard Aikman say that near the end of the broadcast) the last 3 games against the Ravens, there was no reason to expect a good result.

A few questions that need to be answered . . . If Tua is healthy enough to be the backup QB, is he not healthy enough to start? The next question is does Xavien Howard have to force a fumble and recover it in order for us to win games? He has done just that in two of our three victories. The next question is, do we buy into this team after 2 straight victories?

Here’s my take on questions one through three. It’s like this in my mind, either Tua should be playing or he shouldn’t. If he’s hurt and can’t play, he’s OUT. If he’s healthy enough to play, he STARTS. It’s confounding to me the way they are treating Tua and I honestly think it’s inexplicable. If he truly is our QB, then he’s the QB. To be clear, there’s no reason that Tua shouldn’t be our QB, Brissett is clearly the lesser of the two and Tua gives us the best chance to win. When people say “I already know what QB Tua is/will be”, I scoff at that. Players evolve differently. Specifically, this team’s roster has been in such a state of flux, I don’t know how anything on the offense can be evaluated properly. We have different WR’s lining up each week, and the truth is, our two best WR’s Parker and especially Will Fuller haven’t been 100% and in Fuller’s case haven’t been on the field. Preston Williams has also missed extensive time. It’s been a revolving door, and then add in the constant shuffling of the O-line. Deiter, Mancz, Reiter, there’s a different offensive center every game and sometimes during the game. You know what helps players the most? C-O-N-S-I-S-T-E-N-C-Y. We’ve had none of that. No offense to anyone who said that they know what Tua is, but I couldn’t disagree more after just 14 games over two totally different seasons.

So we get a big win in prime time, and man, that was enjoyable. I say savor it because you never know when the next win is going to come. I know we play the Jets at MetLife next and some people are going to get ahead of themselves, although most of us here won’t fall into that trap, we’re seasoned Dolphins fans and we know better. The Jets also had a shocker when they knocked off the AFC North upstart Cincinnati Bengals 34-31 in Week 8. Who knows which Jets team shows up, the one that beat the Bengals or the one that gave up 54 points and 45 points to the Patriots and Colts respectively?

Our schedule for what it’s worth appears a little easier with games against the Jets, Camolina Panthers and then the NY Football Giants before we hit our BYE week in NFL Week 14. If we can duplicate last night’s effort the next 3 weeks is it possible we go into the BYE 6-7? I wouldn’t bet on it, and I think Brian Flores is really showing a lot of signs of WTF? lately. I expected growth from him and it almost seems like we’re seeing regression instead. This team has developed a pattern of being strong in the first quarter and then falling off a cliff. We’re pretty successful on our first drive but then the offense just disappears after that. That’s coaching, not on the players. That needs to be addressed.

Some interesting stats to digest. In the 1st Quarter, we are #7 in scoring. In the 2nd Quarter, we’re #32. In the 3rd Quarter, we’re #30. In the 4th, we’re #18. If that doesn’t point to coaching, what does? It says when we go by game plan we start out well, but as soon as we have to adjust, we completely deteriorate. I know Flores is young and inexperienced. You can be a great positional coach and teacher but when you’re responsible for running the entire show, well that’s a different story. I think Flores needs at least one very experienced coach to be his right hand man. I know Jim Caldwell was supposed to be that guy, and I think it’s a big loss that never materialized. Game management is a difficult skill to learn. You don’t want to step on the toes of your coordinators and you have to watch everything, managing time outs, challenges, substitutions all while watching the game clock and managing that as well. Having someone who’s done it but doesn’t threaten to take your job would be a welcome addition here. I think Flores has a good foundation, but I’m not 100% convinced he’s capable of running the whole show right now.

It didn’t count, but man was that fun to watch when mammoth RG Robert Hunt intercepted the screen pass intended for Myles Gaskin and rumbled towards the endzone and then made an incredibly athletic twisting leap for the goal line that Barry Sanders would be proud of. It didn’t count because he was an ineligible receiver, he didn’t report as an eligible receiver which is required but it was so crazy and amusing! I’m happy we won but the only thing that can keep me happy is more wins, and lots of ’em. Let’s hope we can be focused and keep the positivity flowing in New Jersey against our division rival NY Jets.

GO DOLPHINS!!!

  1. awesome game, the Ravens feasted at home against us in years past, but not in Miami!

Nice write Mike. I agree that Flores needs an experienced coach specially on offense. If he stays I bet we’ll have an experienced OC next year.

The next question is, do we buy into this team after 2 straight victories?

The answer is an emphatic NO!

    7 straight? Maybe…..

  8. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Only 2 games back in the win column

  9. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

4 very doable games in front of us

  10. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

That win was the shot in the arm this fanbase needed…and not in a forced vaccination kind of way, more of an adrenaline boost.

Although to the best of my knowledge you wouldn’t give an adrenaline shot in the arm, so I don’t really know what kind of shot it would be that gave us a boost. Meth? Hmm, that’s not really a good thing either…what the hell does that phrase mean? Whatever…great win!!

Twice – Question for you – For some reason, I’m unable to change the text color as I have been doing for quite some time. It started last week and I can’t get it to save. At the end of the article I always type GO DOLPHINS in aqua, but no matter what I do, it reverts to black. Any ideas? Thanks!

Tua played good. Nice pass to wilson. He almost threw a pick six though

  13. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Tried watching, but couldn’t get past 1st quarter, after more of the same ineptitude, decided to leave NY, NY’s sportsbook and go into the VGK game early

Was pleasantly surprised, when looking at the score early 2nd half

But even a blind squirrel finds a …

We should beat the jets twice, and maybe Carolina and the Giants, but we still have more issues than answers, things aren’t good for this team going forward

We’ll have a good amount of cap next year to figure things out, not sure we have the guys in place to make those decisions though

You just can’t keep the high turnover rate of players and coaches going and expect to pickup where you left off the previous year

Identifying your building blocks in building a team is the biggest hurdle right now

Flores/Grier seem clueless on how to do that

    • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

we have a lot of cap because we have a lot of free agents. We will need to spend that cap in order to field a team.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yes, but the crap like Fuller and some others will be shown the door and that’s a good thing

The way we allocated so much to WR, just so we could field a just above street level players is killin us

Need to bring back some glue vets on the OL

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

When you suck and have a lot of FAs and cap it’s a good thing

      • Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

Agreed. Also, we have a TON of money wrapped up in DB’s. Unless we can get some play from Iggy and replace Jones we are still going to have too large a percentage allocated to the DB room.

Young promising guys like Holland can off set that (until his contract is up in ’24 and deserves an extension)

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yes, we need to figure out DB too

  14. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Belicheat shows his coordinators and coaches just enough to make them think they can be the next great coach, but that last 5% must be stored in a vault somewhere

  15. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    Cav – B-12, it was a shot of B-12…..

  16. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We have 2 2022 FAs worthy of resigning Ogbah and Gesicki

The rest should only come back at team friendly deals

  17. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Boulder – I’m confusing your avi with ORob every time you post. They’re different but very subtle.

  18. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

After this year we still have 12+m in dead cap for Jones, so he needs to stay put next year

Flores needs to stop killin us with dead money

  19. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

We still have a very young team/coaching staff.
But our two young safeties are playing well, Phillips is figuring stuff out, Ogbah is a keeper, Raekwon Davis is a beast, Waddle is the real deal, Our TEs are a force in the passing game, Wilkins is a great cog in the machine, Van Ginkel is a wild man, Baker is fast, and our kicking game is above average to very good, especially if you remember to include Mack Hollins’s work as a gunner both in forcing fair catches and downing punts inside the ten.

  20. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

It looks like half of this article is directed at me so I’ll try to clarify some things and hope they don’t continue to be taken out of context. I 100% have no problem owning the statement that I know what kind of QB that Tua is or will be just like I’ve known what we had in every other QB that has stepped out in a Dolphins uniform in the last 20 years. When I judge Tua it’s on what I see in Tua and that’s on the field, in interviews, on the sideline. I don’t fault him for poor coaching, or personnel just like I didn’t when Tannehill was here. I judge him on him. Can he prove me wrong? Sure, but there hasn’t been a QB that’s been able to yet.
I see Tua as a franchise QB, but I don’t see him as elite. Like I said before, I put him in the same tier of QB as Tannehill that’s just under elite. Too many people throw that term out there and it should be reserved for a handful of QBs. People like to equate franchise and elite, I don’t. You can be a franchise QB and not be elite like Tannehill.
I still think sitting him and playing him only in emergency was the right decision. You can disagree, but I’m not going to belabor the point. I just don’t think it helps us long term and that’s the point I’ve been making this whole time. It’s not an indictment on Tua good or bad.

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

      Half? Maybe a 1/3? LOL

It just seems like a contradiction to me SB. Like this . . . “It’s best we keep you on the bench and start Jacoby tonight son, let your finger heal up, so we’re gonna give him the start, and only put you in an emergency if Jacoby gets hurt”. Jacoby gets hurt, but then seems more than fine as he’s jogging on the sideline. Jacoby to coach “I’m fine, I can play”. Coach Flo – “You know what Jacoby, sit this out, I’m going to put Tua in, although he really shouldn’t be playing because his finger is a mess”. Tua to coach – “I’m hurting but I was ready to play at the start, so not sure why I’m not starting”.

It just doesn’t make sense. When players are doubtful, they’re OUT. You can’t protect an injured player if you have to use him so either start him or sit him. It’s that simple to me.

  21. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

What we need … besides more rapid maturation of Hunt, Jackson, and Eichenberger and upgrading Jesse Davis …
I really think we need to draft the best RB we can find. And since Fuller is a wuss, then we need a deep threat wideout.
I’d prefer to spend our cap money on resigning Gesicki etc. and draft RB and WR and RT with our first three picks.

    • naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

uh but I think we don’t have a first round pick in 2022, right?
so 2nd round or trade up into late first for a RT then RB in the 3rd and WR in 4th.

if that makes sense with the facts and how the draft falls to us. It’s too early for me to get so specific.

  22. twicethethe's avatar twicethethe says:

Mike – I was able to change the color of the text (refresh post to see change) – not sure why it didn’t work for you. Strange…

  24. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

Mike, oh no I don’t wanna be confused with Rob 🙂 . i’ll change my avatar

  25. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Naples – We have the SF 49ers first round pick, which is currently at #10

  26. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Mike E and SB7 you are both correct.
This is or has been so far a very complicated year for the Dolphins both players and coaches. It seems many factors such as the 2 or 3 play-caller system, Tua’s nagging but not terminal injuries, the massive impact of injuries at WR and Raekwon Davis’s injury, huge frequency of rookie mistakes by even really good players such as Waddle and Holland, the odd way the schedule has fallen against us, and way more than our fair share of bad bounces and weird or just plain bad officiating calls against us …

It hasn’t been a straigtforward year where we can say we are “this good” or “this bad.”

All this makes it hard on Tua, WHO IS STILL in his ROOKIE year of starts, both hard on him as a player and hard on his coaches and hard on us fans to watch and evaluate him.

  27. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

So if we have the #10-12 pick, we should be able to get a 10-year starter quality RT, especially since most teams are looking for a LT at that high of a pick number, whereas for us, that is our blindside protector.

We might be able to get the best RT in the draft.

  28. boulderfinfan's avatar boulderfinfan says:

naples, If we get our O-line fixed and get a real rushing attack this team could be in the playoffs. The FO dropped the ball with the offense this year. In-experienced OCs and O line.

  29. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

SB – Changed my avi as well. Should help alleviate the confusion.

  30. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I suggest they put that pass play to Robert Hunt in the playbook.
Just line him up tackle eligible. He played RT all last year, so it would not be that obvious,
    then
run the normal screen, but let Tua have the option of throwing to either the RB or Hunt so as to confuse the defense,
and if Hunt is the more open guy, throw it to him, since he has shown he can catch, and let his 326 pounds rumble in against free safeties.

  34. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

Another great glimmer of hope is the way they ran the QB sneak for the TD. They didn’t need to bring in Brissett, which I was afraid they’d do and tip it off.
Tua went on a one count which is what Brady always did so as to catch the DL before they can dig in and before the MLB can assess where to fill in and clog the hole.
Tua is brave and has muscular thighs a la Wilson, so I think he can be successful on 3rd and 1 sneaks as well.

If I’m Flores, I would assign one scout to scour the college coaching ranks for the brightest, most innovative yet not freaky young OC in the FBS and bring him on to do nothing but design an offense that’s not so obvious and predictable.

like the guy coaching Arizona was in college coaching

He wouldn’t be a threat to bolt for a while, as he’d be so young to the NFL. Let him grow with Tua and Waddle and our new deep ball draft pick. And our new power RB we get in the 2nd round of 2022 draft.

  38. naplesfan2010's avatar naplesfan2010 says:

I’m so old school I still have Brady in a pasties uni as my avatar,

    agreed
I know it is unpopular, but I’m not ready to give up on those three, not even Jackson. I think Hunt and Jackson and Liam E all have enough talent to grow into quality OL. Look at their ages!

Jesse Davis is the one I am ready to give up on. He’s a nice man and adequate as a spot injury replacement to have and hope to not use very often, but he is not a first string RT to trot out there every game, especially with a left handed QB.

I don’t know what to do at Center as we are on our 3rd string guy we plucked off waivers. Surely we can do better at Center.

  42. sb7mvp's avatar sb7mvp says:

What I’d like to see out of this offense is something similar to the 49ers of the eighties, but we’d need a Tom Rathman to make that happen. It think it’s a system that would make the most of Tua’s strengths.

I think he has the tools to be successful but he needs to stay on the field. I am glad he got on the field last and made some plays to help us win. I want to see some of the young guys on D mature and take over games much like Holland and even Phillips was doing last night and for the love of God let’s get our OL figured out.

“In a 22-10 upset loss to the Miami Dolphins, Jackson faced 24 defensive back blitzes — the most any defense has sent at him and the most DB blitzes any quarterback has faced since 2015. This was the fewest points Baltimore has scored in Jackson’s 46-game career (previous low was 17 points), and it came against a two-win Dolphins team that had the NFL’s 30th-ranked defense.”
    — baltimorebeatdown.com

“For as much as Jackson can do with his talent, he needs the help of his teammates, as does any NFL player. The fourth-year quarterback has shown that he can single-handily will the Ravens to victory, but in order to do that he needs his wide receivers to catch passes, his offensive line to block, and others to contribute as well. On Thursday night, he didn’t get a lot of help.”
    — Ravenswire

“So why did the Ravens struggle so mightily on offense? The Dolphins, led by defensive-minded Head Coach Brian Flores, blitzed the snot out of them and the Ravens crumbled under the pressure.

According to Next Gen Stats, Dolphins safeties Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones both blitzed more times than any defensive back has blitzed in a game over the past five years. Holland blitzed 21 times and Jones came 17 times. Jones played 72 percent of his snaps in the box.”
    — Baltimoreravens.com

“The Ravens’ 22-10 loss to the woebegone Dolphins was a stunning setback for a team with aspirations of securing the AFC’s top seed, for a quarterback in the running for NFL Most Valuable Player honors, for a roster that must steel itself for a brutal second-half schedule. The offense was wasteful. The defense was leaky. There was little redeemable about the night.”

“We were not prepared the way we needed to be prepared,” said coach John Harbaugh, who repeatedly blamed himself for the team’s poor performance. “Our schemes weren’t up to snuff, and we weren’t prepared to execute the way we needed to. So that’s it — not on one player. Our players played their hearts out. … We just weren’t ready, and that’s on me.”

We turned over 5 times, but the D got 4 back. Both low scoring games in which our D played great and our offense not so much….. except the 2 big plays in the Ravens game. And not like Jackson looked great as far as QB play.

I watched and thought similar, but maybe just me. Big difference I thought was one team was supposed to be really good…. yet the same.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Our D didn’t play great against the Texans. They missed on a ton of big plays.

The Texas game was a case of which team blundered less than the other one. both teams had trouble getting out of their own way. Whereas the Ravens game, we looked like a pretty decent team.

If you thought those games looked similar, more power to ya, I thought they were night and day.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Texans was 17-9 and Ravens were 22-10. Seemed similar to me, including how the D was bashing the QB from all directions.

But the Ravens were studs and the Texans trash…… where I saw the big difference. And yeah that means we played a whole lot better against the Ravens.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The score being similar doesn’t mean the games were. You pointed out how different it was here after the Ravens vs after the Texans. The reason for that is because there wasn’t much reason to feel good after the Texans game, because the team looked like shyte, even in the win.

We didn’t look like shyte last night. We looked like we are an offensive line away from being good.

Our offense, though it was anemic and had to overcome the oline deficiencies, still controlled a fair share of the clock, didn’t turn the ball over, and made plays to help seal the win at the end. Our special teams looked good. And our defense took it to the Ravens. I didn’t feel it was their offense screwing up, it was our defense taking it away from them.

The Texans our special teams let us down, our offense turned the ball over 5 flipping times, and the defense was pretty good, but still was taking advantage of the Texans missing on plays throughout the game as opposed to shutting them down completely like they did against the Ravens.

Anyway, we got both wins, which is what matters.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

That we won both is what does matter. But will point out our offense scored less points last night than against the Texans and the Ravens defense is not good. But then our D stuffed their vaunted O and MVP QB.

For me in both games it was our D. And heck will pick up both wins with a smile.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, but again, just looking at points doesn’t tell the story. I’ll take the way our offense played last night over last Sunday every day of the week.

The Ravens have a real good redzone defense, #2 in the league.

We moved the ball into the redzone plenty, we just couldn’t get in the endzone.

And actually, 5 TOs says enough, lol.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I think the O sucked in both games, but the D saved us. With the Texans cause they got 4 TOs back, with the Ravens cause X scooped one up for 6. Just my take….. big fan of what the D did the last two games while the O scored 17 and 16.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yes, the o sucked last game too, but they weren’t incompetent like against the Texans. They just struggled against a much better defense and couldn’t overcome the oline deficiencies. And again, they had a huge drive when it counted the most to seal the game.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And I think the texans sucking saved us more than the D did. Our D was good against them. They were outstanding against the ravens

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Our D against the Texans was more akin to the Bill’s game. A good team would have made some plays as the game went on, but the texans stink, so they didn’t make those plays.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Raven’s are bottom third in yards allowed this year. Just don’t see them as a good defense. Their O is top notch though.

But bottom line is still think our D came up strong in both games. We gave up 9 points to the Texans while getting 4 TOs and 5 sacks. I’ll take that every week.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Did you see where they are #2 in redzone D? Our defense last year was middle of the pack in yardage allowed. It’s not a very telling stat.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

It is the standard stat followed by points allowed. But maybe there D is better than I give it credit for. But man was I happy as shiot that we beat the Ravens. One of the best teams in the AFC.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And the point is, the way we played that game, you wouldn’t get those numbers against a decent team. The texans hurt themselves as much as we played well.

All going back to your original question, why the different reactions. It’s because of the different levels of play

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Lol, who’d standard? Was our defense middle of the pack last year?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

In today’s nfl, redzone d is far more important. Hence, the idea it doesnt matter if you can move between the 20s, but how you score in the redzone that matters.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Cav — I completely agree with you. Have already said the Ravens victory was far greater. And I know the Ravens D is better than the Texans. So you are just right man…. cause not even sure what I am wrong about. 🙂

“For some reason, there are not many Black punters and kickers in the NFL. However, there have been a few that have broken color barriers over the years, and have had a lot of success on the field. One was former Miami Dolphins legend Reggie Roby. He opened the door for any Black athlete that wants to kick in the NFL. However, Roby will never get to see anyone who follows in his footsteps on the football field as he sadly died at a young age.”

  81. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Son, so what if he fumbled and the Ravens pick it up and score? The play doesn’t count because it’s dead the second he touches it? To me that is like blowing the whistle when the defense has 12 men on the field before the play is run. You take away potential advantages by blowing it dead. I don’t like it. Let them play.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

And I still don’t get why they changed that 12 men rule. It happened to us last night. It cost us yardage because they blew it dead.

    • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

Interesting discussion, if a qb crosses the line of scrimmage and throws a pick, can the penalty be declined? Similar to the illegal touching deal.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I don’t know about that one. I’m pretty sure that one is a loss of down, but I am betting it is an acceptable or declinable penalty. I’m pretty sure the ball stays live until the play is over and the penalty is accepted. If the QB throws an INT, you wouldn’t want to penalize the defense. I could be wrong on that though, it might be considered dead and automatically enforced.

The problem with having illegal touching be a loss of down is either the mechanics aren’t favorable or it becomes too large a penalty IMO.

So mechaincs-wise, if you make the ball dead right when it touches the lineman, then you negate possible big plays for the defense, so this would be the worst way to handle it IMO. It needs to stay a live ball and you give the defense the choice to accept or decline the penalty.

If you say ok, it stays live, and if it is accepted it is back 5 and a loss of down. That is a pretty stiff penalty anywhere else on the field. 1st and 10 from your 25 and the pass bounces off a lineman helmet, now it’s 2nd and 15? That is too big a penalty for that infraction IMO. Totally a subjective point of view, I admit.

Then you also have to consider plays where linemen report, if they fail to report, all those plays are loss of down?

Remember when we did the trick play throwing it for a TD instead of kicking the FG and it was called back because the lineman supposedly didn’t report. That means instead of kicking a fg, it would have been a turnover on downs.

I just don’t think you’re going to see too many times where the offense gets another chance because the lineman is a wonderfully graceful gazelle weaving through the defense, adroitly spinning through the air for the TD all called back due to illegal touching, lol.

      • bookman11's avatar bookman11 says:

I am with you Cav. The example I used was intended to support the fact that it should NOT be called dead or charge a loss of down.

With intentional grounding, the play is already dead and decided, it is an incomplete pass to avoid a sack, the loss of down already happens, the penalty is more about accounting for the yardage

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Cheers, Bookman. Your question gave me the opportunity to kind of talk it out in more detail and flesh out my own thoughts on it.

Former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden filed a lawsuit against the NFL and commissioner Roger Goodell on Thursday accusing the league and Goodell of trying to destroy his career using a “malicious and orchestrated campaign.”

The lawsuit claims Goodell and the NFL leaked racist and anti-gay emails sent by Gruden in an attempt to “destroy the career and reputation of Jon Gruden.” The lawsuit also alleged the NFL leaked additional emails to the New York Times to ensure Gruden would resign or be fired. It claimed Gruden was “forced to resign” following those emails.

“young safeties Jevon Holland and Brandon Jones played every snap — the fourth game in a row for Holland ”

“With four sacks Thursday, the Dolphins moved up to 13th in the NFL in sacks with 21. What’s more, they lead the league with 66 quarterback hits. Their 15 takeaways this season are fifth most in the league.”

I’m operating off of 5 hours of sleep after last night’s GRAND win and I’m bloody tired after a long day today… but it was WORTH IT!!!

Our Defense is finally gelling after the losses of KVN, Shaq Lawson, and Bobby McCain. The net result in who we replaced them with will be a bigger upgrade and most beneficial for the long-term, it’s just a shame it took them so long to achieve cohesiveness… or that Boyer finally removed his head from his posterior. Jevon Holland is quickly emerging as a future star, Jaelan Phillips seems to be getting better each week, and our LB rotation continues to get stronger.

Our O-Line got Brissett injured last night (seems to be a recurring theme with our QBs, no?), but Tua rose to the occasion… as did Albert Wilson. Waddle is LEGIT. Great showing by Isaiah Ford last night, too. Our Offense was without DeVante and Fuller, Preston Williams and Mike Gesicki had zero catches last evening, yet we beat the vaunted Ravens.

Lemuel Jeanpierre, sorry, but you are now on the hottest seat in Miami… get the O-Line in order, in order for our Offense to function properly. 13 QB hits (per ESPN) on Brissett and Tua combined is unacceptable… and I’m blaming the coaching at this point.

  89. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

The tale of the tape reveals: Tua’s longest pass (air yards) of the 2021 season is 35 yards (to Waddle last night). He’s still not healthy (between his ribs and middle finger on his passing hand), but that was most encouraging last night.

Give him a few more weeks (at least in theory), and he should be able to fling it 50 yards again, as he did at Alabama.
