LOL, are you pathologically incapable of simply admitting when you’re wrong? You know nothing bad happens, right? It doesn’t make your d!ck smaller, make you grow nipples on your face, or anything like that.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

what? he’s tied with Mahomes, so you anoint him above Mahomes?
at least i’m calling it a tie

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Exactly, it’s a tie. Mahomes and Tua have 16 people ahead of them, so both are ranked 17, not 18, not 17.5.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

what’s more accurate? both at 17.5 or just deeming Tua at 17 with no mention of being tied with Mahomes, take off the Tua tagavasunglasses will ya?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Why would I have to mention Mahomes? He isn’t ahead of Tua, plain and simple.

You say Tua has to be in the top 10 by your standard and you incorrectly had him at 18 instead of 17; it is in plain black and white and indisputable that you where wrong, but instead of just saying “my bad, he’s 17th”, you deflect and argue. Is it genuinely that difficult?

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

who’da thunk Tua would be tied with Mahomes at this juncture anyway? just goes to show you what a shitty season KC is having.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I was going by what Pro Reference had him at, they said he was at 18, who cares it still blows!
        semantics!

        https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/passing.htm

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

It’s not semantics, it’s a significant step closer to that mythical 10th spot.

If Tua has to jump 7 people to get to #10 instead of 8 people, that’s a 12.5% difference.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Maybe they put Mahomes ahead of him because he’s avg 290 YPG vs Tuas 212 YPG.
those 1 yard passes don’t add up too quickly ya know.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

I would love to see Tua get in the top 10 in passer rating! then you can say we have a good QB. I don’t see that happening.

we’re playing easy teams and the D has came alive. the start of the Carolina game was Dreadful offensively until we blocked that punt and X picked that ball.

you’re being fooled into thinking Tua is responsible for the win.

he has improved I’ll give him that. he seemed to take charge of the offense, i had seen him yelling at Jackson for a false start.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

        It’s actually some random placement.

If you toggle it back and forth with another stat, you’ll see sometimes Tua is ranked 17th and Mahomes 18th. It also happens at 10th place with Allen and Jimmy G, lol.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I don’t get the arbitrary ’10th’ spot thing. There are 14 playoff spots, so shouldn’t that be the standard? But even so, Tua is only 5 points away from the 10th spot. Two good games could put him there or one amazing game. I find it hard to believe that if Tua has an amazing game against the Giants and reaches that 10th spot that you’ll suddenly change your view of him.

But either way, he’s only 16 games into his career, and he’s trending upward. Would you have the same expectation of any other rookie QB, that they be a top 10 QB by the end of their first year?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Lawrence is ranked 31st 11 games into his career, just ahead of your guy Brissett at 30…

you kinda lose credibility making this move

  8. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

With all the issues our offense has had this year, Tua and the rest of the guys who are playing seem to be building some more consistency. That is normal because these guys don’t really have a body of work playing together as a team. That said, we do have a void of talent in a few areas and we need to add upgrades in the off-season. I think we could go play with the same defense we have now next season. The offense needs more work. That doesn’t mean replacing everyone, but adding better players that also makes our depth better. We need a few more special talents on the OL, RB and WR.

  9. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

As for passer ratings, some of the pct. points are so minimal they’re more in groups as opposed to a linear list. One great game vs. a bad game can flip a lot of these guys. The ratings are mostly about a level of play and consistency. We all know Tua had some rough games and injuries. He’s ascending and that’s what you want to see. Some QBs go backwards. But like we were talking earlier, football is still a team game and when certain parts aren’t working, stats for everyone are not going to look so good.

At the end of the day it’s about building a team that wins however they do it. When you win games nobody cares about stats.

  10. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    _________________________________________________

He’s at least 7 points away from 10, also it wouldn’t matter if he got to 10 after the giants game, i look at passer rating after the season is complete.
If he’s in the top 10 then couple that with a winning record, he’s had a good season.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

he has to pass 7 other players to get to #10

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If you look at passer rating after the season is complete, then why does it matter that he’s in 17th place right now? You’ve been judging him all day/ season based on current passer rating? Why does that change if it becomes a positive factor?

Right now 10th place is 99.1, Tua is at 94.7, so he’s only 4.4 points away from being tied for 10th (or 4.5 from being in 10th alone).

Also, based on your comment a winning record has been added to the criteria, did I read that right? If he cracks the top 10, but the team ends up with a losing record, it won’t count?

  15. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Let’s throw in they are 31st average yards a game rushing…..but let’s put it all on a top 10 rating?

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

have you ever thought the fact that tua dinks and dunks out of the rpo the whole game that D’s are crowding the box with 9 guys within 10 yards of the LOS that; that affects the run game and pass pro?
don’t you think opposing d’s make you beat them with your weakness? and take away your strengths?

in tuas case his weakness would be the deep ball

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

10 guys within 10 yards of the los, only one player deep, kinda tough to run in that crowd

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

And he’s supposed to be able to sit in the pocket and wait on a deep route? When does he have time to do that?
My thought is this dink and dunk offense you blame on Tua is in fact the result of the shit ass OL, not the QB’s ability to throw deep.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if you run out of a pro set with a power running game, and a strong arm qb, a fast wr, you keep ds honest, they have to honor that deep threat with play action.

the offense is designed around tuas deficiencies, we run an rpo style offense, the ol is not firing off the ball as they would in a pro set, tua’s weak arm is no deep threat so they dink and dunk you. he struggles to throw outside the numbers.
his arm strength limits what you can do offensively.
that’s why he avgs 212 ypg

LOL, you Big Green Fuck! (Richard Pryor’s words, not mine). 😀

  18. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Stats don’t tell the entire story. Our defense is playing at a high level the last bunch of games. We’re last in yardage allowed. That was because of early in the season when they were not playing well. That does not reflect the current team. The 1-7 start really messed up the season. So from here is all that matters now. Nothing else you can do. Just keep playing well and become a team that knows winning.

  19. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

If Tua finishes this season playing like he has been the last few games, can you imagine what the backlash will be with more Watson rumors in the off-season? Tua is winning over the fan base. He’s our QB. We can’t have another off-season of that. It hurts the entire organization. We’ve won 4 in a row once that nonsense was over. That kind of stuff matters. Tua is not the problem. Most of us see that. The leadership did our team a disservice by lacking confidence in the QB they drafted at #5 last year and telling the entire team we’re not sure what we’re doing. Once that was over for this year things seemed to get better. Maybe not so much the coaching but the players themselves rallying. I see that. These guys are playing together and for themselves as they should.

  20. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

Tua struggles to stretch the field, opposing D’s dont have to cover the entire field.

    that’s the issue with Tua.

we’ve been winning with defense not offense, and we’re playing shitty teams, this has to be the easiest 6 games any team has played this year, the only tough one was the ravens,
the texans, panthers@home, jets twice and the giants, give me a break!
and those 6 games are not over yet, then we have three tough games!

    • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

What WR do we have to take the top off the defense? Who is constantly open to throw to besides Waddle? When is Tua allowed to even go through progressions?

So now winning an NFL game is not good enough? Easy teams? I recall Fins beating the #1 team in the AFC….idk what more you want.

      • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

albert wilson, mack hollins, we’re getting parker back and you have waddle.

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

        LOL! Whatever man.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

ORob believes in throwing ghost routes. Meaning they’re not there. The OL struggles, many WRs are not available to play and the running game is not a strength, but Tua must overcome all of that. At some point you have to see it for what it was. He used those same reasons for why Brissett struggled. With Tua, he has to be spectacular or it’s a no go. LOL

      • ElephantRider's avatar ElephantRider says:

Yeah. Somehow Brisket got a pass and he was abysmal. He’s got a strong arm though!

    ocalarob says:
    December 1, 2021 at 9:36 pm
look at 2020 passer ratings, look at all the playoff qbs in the top 10, look down the list, as passer rating goes down so does the team winning pct

    https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2020/passing.htm

    —————————————–

I get there is some correlation with winning and quality of QB play, that goes without saying. But your boy Watson only won 4 games last year and didn’t make the playoffs with his top 10 rating.

As a matter of fact, 4 out of the top 10 QBs didn’t make the playoffs in 2020.
And, 4 out of the top 10 QBs didn’t have a winning record in 2020.
    That is nearly half.

So what I previously asked was, based on your previous comment about what you consider for Tua having a successful season, is that the standard you are holding him to- a top 10 rating and a winning season?

  22. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i’m just not impressed with tuas weak arm, he is very accurate but i believe he doesn’t have the arm to contend at that level. only time will tell.
and i don’t think i’m the only one who feels that way.
why else would ross be calling watson?
things that make you go hmmm?

  23. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

if you look at the last ten years of passer rating and you take the teams that made post season vs the teams that didn’t you would be surprised at the percentage, it just goes to show you need a good all around qb to win in this league

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Absolutely!!! You also need a defense that isn’t last in every category the first 8 games, the worst ranked OL, a depleted WR corps and a sup par running game. Other than that, Tua should overcome all of that even missing 3 games due to the ineptitude around him.

Dan Marino would probably get us to 8-9 or maybe 9-8. Remember those years? Was it because of Marino? 86-89. If we only had a QB.

You realize you contradict yourself constantly with your view of how football needs to be played right?

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

2020- 3 of the top 10 didn’t make the playoffs
      2019- 3 of the top 10 ^
      2018- 2 of the top 10 ^
      2017- 4 of the top 10 ^
      2016- 5 out of top 10 ^

Last 5 years, 34% didn’t make the playoffs- more than 1/3 of the QBs/ teams.

  24. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

ORob has constantly said running the football and imposing our will is key. When has that happened in recent times? We’ve had some decent rushing numbers recently but nowhere near imposing our will on opponents. But we have won 4 in a row with the weak armed Tua. When does the BS end? LOL

  25. Ken's avatar Ken says:

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s what a lot of people are not seeing with what Tua brings to the table. His clock is fast if it’s there. I think this pass was more than 6 inches lol, and it was a zip strike for a TD. Nothing more, it didn’t have to be more than that. TD!!!!

Build around him and we will win. His job is to get the ball to playmakers. We need more of them. He does not have a juggernaut of talent around him. We can’t block half the plays we run. No matter who plays QB for us many of the plays are sandlot plays.

That’s not how the great QBs of our time have been feasting. Here and there, yes, not 3 out of 4 times.

I just can’t seem to separate the books from the show. I went in saying I wouldn’t do that, but I’ve failed miserably, lol.

  38. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

The problem with the OL and the running game is the RPO offense, it works in college because OL can engage 3 yards past the LOS, it doesn’t work in the NFL because they can only engage 1 yard off the LOS. otherwise it;s a penalty, and we’ve seen plenty of those penalties.

Tua needs this RPO to survive. the OL doesn’t know if it’s a run or pass? the box is crowded.

so when you bitch about the OL or the lack of a running game look to Tua’s weak ass arm as the reason.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

There’s a difference between throwing it 70 yards and zipping it in there on more common plays. Tua can get the ball to the right spot on most throws with zip. I’ll take that everyday over a guy who can’t do that but can throw the ball a mile. We’ve seen those guys come and go. Josh Rosen has a very good arm and can throw it further than Tua but he sucks at everything else.

I think the best case scenario is for the cheats to lose twice to the bills

Then we beat the cheats in the final game of the season

That’s 3 losses to take them to 10-7 and gives us a shot to win out.

I think you have to root for the bills – the bills already swept us
But we can sweep the patriots

  59. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Pats can run the ball and play good defense. The Bills struggle against good rush teams and this year good defenses have given Allen problems. I think the Pats will win the game. They’re playing well in all phases. As for who do I want to win, I’m not sure. We just have to take care of our own business because we really don’t have much room for error. One more loss and the best we can do is win 9 games. I don’t think our playoff chances will be based on those two teams. A wildcard against other teams outside our division is probably the only way.

MF 13, let me expand on Tua a little bit, at the top the stat in the link below click on Y/C yards gained per completion,
    He’s 29th in the league!
That’s because he doesn’t have the arm to throw outside the numbers or downfield, in the panther game he didn’t have any passes that traveled more than 20 yards. they cram the field on him and most of his passes are for minimal gains.

That’s a huge problem, sure the D is playing great and we’ve been winning but what he’s doing doesn’t equate to championship football.
any good run team will shut him down.
