So this is the last game the Miami Dolphins will be playing that won’t count in the standings. It will count, however, for those players desperately vying to grab a roster spot. The majority of the roster is probably accounted for, but there are probably a handful of bubble decisions that will be determined by performances in this last game. There will be a few positions where the depth will have to be figured out, most importantly DB, where the Dolphins have lost some depth players, and actually may not have their starting CB Byron Jones ready for Game 1 against the New England Patriots. At RB, no one back has looked particularly good in either game yet, so most of the work in practice will have determined the depth chart so far, plus, McD may just want to keep the Patriots guessing as to what our offense will actually be. WR is where a few potential depth guys have looked good, but considering we have the first 4 spots locked up with Hill, Waddle, Wilson and Ezukanma, add in the fact that we may carry 3 QB’s, plus at least one fullback, it’s possible only 5 WR’s make it, and not 6. Does Lynn Bowden Jr. make the cut, or perhaps Braylon Sanders, or River Cracraft, or veteran Mohammed Sanu?
Running back has been a tough one to figure. You would think you can write in Chase Edmonds, Raheem Mostert and Sony Michel, because McD and Grier just brought them here. Myles Gaskin was here already, but he’s a guy that has produced too. Salvon Ahmed is too much like Gaskin, so I guess it will be either or, if one them makes the roster. Rookie ZaQuandre White hasn’t seen much action, just 2 carries for negative 1 yards. Gaskin leads the Dolphins with 39 yards on 8 carries. QB Skylar Thompson is 2nd with 26. In other words, we really haven’t seen enough to have any expectations. ZaQuandre White does have a 19 yard TD reception, so there’s that.
It has to be tempered because it’s preseason, but I like what I’ve seen of DE Porter Gustin, and I think he has a chance to stick. At LB, both Cameron Goode and 3rd RD draft pick Channing Tindall showed some positive things. Tindall is a lock, but Goode may find himself a spot on the roster as well. At CB, Mackensie Alexander is done, (that was quick!), so guys like Keion Crossen and longshot Kader Kohou have a chance because of the injury situation. Iggy seems to be on the outside looking in. Everything I’ve seen from this kid in this preseason tells me he’s a not an NFL player. We did well taking a shot with Nik Needham, I think one of the aforementioned guys is also going to get a shot.
At TE, there’s been lots of chatter about Mike Gesicki getting traded. I don’t see it happening, but I’m not against it if we get the right return. Gesicki is a one dimensional player at the moment, a talented one, but still one dimensional. He’s a receiver, and hasn’t seemed to have embraced the blocking aspect of the position. Durham Smythe can do both, but he’s not as good as a receiver as Gesicki. Long hasn’t really proved he’s great at anything, and Cethan Carter gives you H-back flexibility and is a strong blocker. I think to myself, Durham Smythe, Hunter Long and Cethan Carter don’t put any fear into any defense, and while Gesicki isn’t a great blocker, he’s a top 8-10 receiving TE. Tough call there, but if they can get a starter where we need it for Gesicki, or a 3rd RD pick in the 2023 draft, go for it.
On the O-line, we’ve been protecting LT Terron Armstead, and Larnel Coleman has been given a lot of playing time. Coleman has been good and bad, as expected. Coleman was a 7th RD pick last year, and he appears to be locked in as Armstead’s backup. The 5 we know will be here are Armstead, Eichenberg, Williams, Hunt and Jackson. The remaining guys are Greg Little, Solomon Kindley, Robert Jones, Michael Deiter, Adam Pankey, Kion Smith, Kellen Diesch and Blaise Andries. Due to the fact that Armstead is oft injured, Coleman seems to be safe. Greg Little was a 2nd RD pick back in ’19 for the Panthers, so he has some pedigree, but we haven’t seen anything from him here in MIA. Lots of decisions. Our special teams is set with K Jason Sanders, P Thomas Morstead, LS Blake Ferguson, and KR/PR Tyreek Hill, Raheem Mostert, Jaylen Waddle and Jevon Holland. Just stay healthy guys, the roster will work itself out!

GO DOLPHINS!!!

Benito Jones is becoming a BEAST! Yes, bad call.
I still wouldn’t be in a rush to trade Bridgewater, say Tua goes down early and for a while (knock on wood) you could play Thompson and still have Teddy as the backup.
Correct, as I stated this past week. 100% agreed, Son!
Tim,
I’m not messing with your head, man. I’m demonstrating just how FAR we’ve come from the days of Jeff Ireland!
This team of ours is FOR REAL this year!!!
HELL YEAH!!!
We’re more for real than most even realize, they’ll see
Our passer ratings so far tonight
158.3

137.8
Do we REALLY need to carry 3?
We’ve only ever seen Skylar vs 2s, 3s, and 4s, though. He’s a rook. Yes, I’m keeping him on the 53.
was only asking. LOL
There WILL BE a QB or QBs who go down before the trade deadline. That’s when we can deal Teddy for a great exchange while buying Skyler valuable time in the interim.
It’s not that hard to do at least for awhile. There is no way we’re stashing Thompson on the PS like JT said.
I was VERY happy to hear JT say that!
15/24 for 247 3 TD’s and no Ints is a nice night for 2 /3 of our QB’s.
You know Elandon Roberts?
Son,
ICYMI…
I can’t think of a single human being who would root against the guy. He is an inspiration to ALL.
I’m aware yes sir he’s an inspirational and impressive individual. I’m so glad he wore our colors.
Looking forward to watching this Sunday night …
Son : call me stupid if ya like , but why the hell would you need WIFI on a BBQ ??
So you can light it from the couch man and control it from your app
🙄 wow
If you feel like spending an extra grand for the same thing. You could turn on you grill from Europe if you wanted to. I’m ok pushing a button.
Well I guess it would be warmed up by the time ya got home from Europe 🤷♂️😳
Wonder what all the arigant Philly fans are thinking after complete dominance all week
What I like about what I’ve seen tonight is ALL of our players competed. They all looked pretty good. Sans Williams, of course.
Even without seeing tonight’s game I agree it’s time to move on from Preston … especially to keep Craycray
Tindell with a BAD miss on that TD. 😦
Followed up by 4-5 other guys. Bad play all around on defense.
Sony Michel not going to make the team
I also won’t shed a tear over that
No Z White tonight does that mean he made it?
Never mind here he is
Juked himself out
6 yards 6 yards 6 yards
GO DOLPHINS
BOWDEN
Bowden in from 39
A ha ha ha ha wipe out
6/9 98yds 142.6 rtg
Thompson is an instinctive football player never mind just at QB. He processes quickly.
He doesn’t know shit, he’s just a rookie
Sarcasm?
Skyler makes the 53, as does LBJ (Lynn Bowden Jr.)
^^^ If I’m running things
3/4 make it out of Sherfield, Sanders, Craycraft and LBJ
That’s a tough decision 🤯
Now he’s cut for sure. That was ugly Williams
To be fair to Preston Williams, I don’t get him as PR. It almost seems like you better do something else besides be a big WR.
They used him there in RS a couple years ago , I cringed every time he went back .. did not look natural, or comfortable
I agree, but it’s, because his head isn’t in it
That seems to be what his issue has been all along. I don’t think he’s much of an effort guy on ST coverage either so they don’t even play him there.
I love that all of our backs averaged more than 6 yds. The run game is working.
Winning formation
32 rushes for 206 yds
Our OL sux
When the passing game works, the running game can work like it did tonight
Philly lost this game during the week of practice, tonight they were mentally defeated

No bad injuries and good work tonight. Tough time for a lot of players the next 2 days.
I’d hate to be a GM in these matters.
It’s got be the worst part of the job. I’ll say this though, a lot of players gave it their all tonight. The team looked well coached and prepared. I wish them all the best.
People can Diss Grier all they want, but we are going to be cutting a bunch of good players this tray .. nice problem for us to have for a change
Yup! I feel the exact same way, man. Many will lose their dreams over the next couple of days. Some may be picked up by other teams, others may fall into the abyss.
I wish all of them well, too.

Yep, I think we all feel that way. It’s time for this organization to crawl up and out of the mediocrity we’ve been mired in for the last two decades. It starts with making the playoffs this year.
We had that 10-6 playoff birth in 2016 with Gase his first year but it was very short lived.
Played the game without both starting CBs, starting LT, starting RB, starting WR, top 2 backup CBs, starting FB, and starting OLB AVG.

I definitely see at least a WC berth, man.
The AFC looks to be a major battle this year. We’ll see how it pans out but any team that makes the playoffs earned it.
I think it will take 11 wins to get a WC in the AFC this season.
Unless they all beat the shit out of each other and maybe 11 or less is what makes it up. LOL
I think it is assumed that if we beat up on our selves that we will also beat our NFC match-ups.

As Rockphin was truly kind and courteous enough to teach me the difference between ‘in lieu’ vs ‘in light’ (thank you, Rock), please allow me to pass on the courtesy…
It’s not WC ‘birth’, it’s WC ‘berth’.
Oh no did we throw everyone off? LOL
The best part of tonight’s game is NO major injuries.

Two weeks to get ready for the mystery offense.
Dolphins 1-0
MR. SPIKES: Thanks for the good words earlier up the page.
I appreciate the good news about Miami’s O-Line. – – BUT – – as you said, itwas against the Eagles’ back-ups and soon-to-be-cuts.

When they display solid protection against the Buffalo Bills first team defense, I will rest easier and I’ll have a smile on my face.

GOOD NIGHT to be a southern Florida football fan. Fins crush Eagles 48-10 and FAU trounces CHARLOTTE 43-13 at Howard Schnellenberger Field. In this, the 50th anniversary of the Dolphins’ Perfect Season, let us NOT forget that the offensive coordinator of the ’72 Dolphins was the one-and-only Howard Schnellenberger!!
——————-
Somewhere, Howard is smiling tonight!

BTW, Mr. Spikes, you, too, are a good man!–
The Old Dolfan is OUT for tonight. — It’s been a great evening!
What you’re going to see is QB’s not so much static in the pocket. Lot’s of movement.
Thank you, sir!
Rock, the AFC is definitely a deeper more talented conference. But there are some big teams in the NFC.
no argument there. I just think there are much more defined leaders in the NFC divisions.
Every season is different. You never know, but like I’ve said before, if we can’t join the playoff mix not sure much else we can do. The talent looks the part, right?
Wow
so what he is really saying is that Tua working against the other team’s ones (somewhat) would’ve had the highest QBR since 2000 (if only over a few attempts) if his backup had not done so well against the backups.
This is a great preseason for our 2 QBs.
Bowden made the team

Good that’s what I said too.
That’s the kind of shit you get in preseason, very similar to their long TD run, where Keystone cops were also running rampant
I meant this
Looking for perfection which is hard to do. It still went for 51 yards. We act like it was incomplete.
Yeah, looked at it 3 times, it was off to the side, which allowed only Tyreek to get it, but if it was thrown 70 yards over the top he could’ve hit him in stride.
Tua throws a very catchable ball, every deep pass doesn’t have to go for 6, I’d rather have 2 of 3 caught, then 1 of 3 and it be a 65 yard air pass TD
Stop bitching about a successful play, bet the Eagles weren’t saying it was a bad pass
It’s the sign of greatness to not be satisfied with a 51-yard completion.
In Tua’s defense, I seem to remember that there was some pressure coming right in front of him, so that he could not risk taking the time to wind up.

Its PS, the game didn’t mean shit…tell that to Eagles fans, I’d bet there’s plenty of them, that are making excuses, and others, that are pulling their hair out
Sure Detroit went 4-0 in PS, then lost all 16 games. Couldn’t tell you how they won the games, but pretty sure they didn’t dominate anyone and won those games at the end with players, that didn’t make either squad
Winning as we did, even though it was mostly against backups means we destroyed a team we were supposed to destroy, if we were trying to win and didn’t dominate we’d have other issues
Heard Gregg Little played very well tonight, after hearing he was pretty good before getting nicked up, so that’s a good sign and maybe sured up our swing tackle.
Don’t see too many holes or back up areas of need, even CB doesn’t look too bad, as long as our top 3 aren’t out an extended period of time, we can get by with what we have.
I see the AFC, other than the Bills, hovering between 9-12 wins, with no other dominant teams, maybe Cincinnati, but that might be a reach. The AFC West will be a dog fight every week, so don’t see a high win team there. The AFC North similar to the west. When there’s lots of teams in a conference, that appear to be pretty good, it usually means there’s not a lot of dominant teams.
Even Buffalo was dominant last year to start, but had to fight off the cheats at the end
All I know is this is our best team, since Marino was playing
WoodStrock? How about SkyVailoa
I’d think about bringing in Skylar, against Buffalo, if Tua can’t get it done early
Whatever it takes, just getter done
Why hasn’t anyone else gone undefeated? Consistency, not flashy play
Why did we win 7 in a row and 8 of 9 last year? Consistency, not flashy play
Why are we going to win 12 games this year? Consistency, not flash play
We don’t need the guy that throws a 70 air yard bomb to Hill one week, then 3 ints the next
First play of the game was 56 air yards, and Tua wasn’t exactly in perfect throwing position, so let’s put to rest Tua’s arm right now, he can throw it far enough to take advantage of what Hill brings deep
Against Buffalo and other teams, I’m pretty sure they aren’t going to be stacking the box out of the gate, but if they do they’re going to pay
Was thinking maybe Michel wasn’t going to make the team, but we need a goal line/short yardage back, he’ll be on the roster, all other backs are pretty similar
Mostert looked like he was just running casually, next thing you know he’s running away from people. He still has the next gear

https://www.foxnews.com/sports/bills-release-punter-matt-araiza-amid-rape-allegations#&_intcmp=hp1bt3,hp1bt
“I 100% do not believe that he ever forcibly raped this girl or had sex with her while she was passed out or drunk or anything like that,” his attorney Kerry Armstrong told The Associated Press. “It’s unfortunate that she’s filed a civil suit. I think it’s a cash grab.”
He’s not denying they had sex
Pretty telling, when the Bills saw enough, that they released him
After the fact it seems clear, that NFL teams knew about Araiza before the draft or there’s no way he lasts to the 6th round, and Buffalo dumping him this quick indicates they just took a flyer on him
Yep — he was projected 3rd or 4th.
Man, we worked the shit out of Sanders last night! 🙂
Loved JTs story about him having to cover Wes Welker and Saban’s shitty play call….lmao
JT couldn’t believe the Dolphins traded him.
.lol…
The Miami Dolphins did not trade Wes Welker.
Didn’t they get a 2nd-er for him?
That’s what JT said I thought, to NE.
He signed a 2nd round tag offer with the Pats that gave the Phins a right to match and keep him. They then settled on trading Welker for a 2nd and a 6th.
OK about to sit down and rewatch the game. It’s always much more fun to rewatch a game when you know it’s a blowout victory. 😂
FMU regular season predictions for the Dolphins’ 2022 season;
SAME as I told you several days ago;
NO home playoff games,No playoff wins.
SHOW ME against Buffalo.
Do you come here just to piss in everyone’s cornflakes? $50 says Miami makes the playoffs and another $50 says they get a playoff win.
LOAD ME UP ON THE SECOND OPTION, PHELON
$50 I’m ON!!!
A HOME playoff win or just a playoff win? Want it to be clear.
Play off win.
12-5 for me.
There’s always 1 or 2, SMH
LOL
“you know the deal, cut and paste and add your prediction” ………
“Slartibartfast!!”
Thanks for your help Phelon.
No problems. Need anything else, let me know.
Phelon, google “Wes Welker Poison Pill” Sir cheatsalot made the NFL institute a new rule that should have been self explanatory but wasn’t specifically spelled out. Smoking my pipe as I rewatch this morning so forgive my memory, but the Dolphins tendered Welker when his contract as an undrafted FA expired. They gave him an “Unheard of” 2nd round tender with the right to match any offer. Sir Cheatsalot made an offer with a “Poison Pill” in it for Miami. The contract offer was written that if Wes played more than two games in a season in Miami that his entire contract would be fully guaranteed (two games because the SB was to be played in Miami that year or the next) It wasn’t fair because a a NE player Wes would only ever play twice in Miami, one case if they made the SB. Miami would have to automatica fully guarantee his entire contract because half their game are played in Miami…….
The NFL later stepped in and said that NE cheated in intent, but the rule didn’t specifically prohibit it. Then they changed the rule to specificaly forbid it.
They threw in an extra 7th from NE to us for the trouble…..
After news of the poison pill the 2 teams agreed on the trade, with NE throwing in an extra pick
That’s right…it wasn’t a trade. I remember now.
Miles Gaskin showing he wants to stay on the squad!
I can’t wait to see what they do. The backups made an argument to keep them. You know they have their eyes on guys from other teams as well. I will put out a $100 bet to be answered by 6pm tonight that there will be at least 2 players on the 53 week 2 that are not on the roster now.
PHELON; I’m a little disappointed you haven’t backed your opinion with the $50. –As I said earlier, I don’t believe Miami will be hosting any playoff games this season. They might get one of the later playoff spots, which would force them onto the road for that game. As we BOTH KNOW, Miami’s playoff win total ON THE ROAD is not great.
SO the $50 offer that says Miami won’t win a road playoff game still stands. In fact, I’ll DOUBLE THAT TO $100 IF YOU PREFER.
PS; ROCKPHIN;—YOU CAN HAVE THE SAME BET IF YOU WANT IT.
YOU know I don’t welsh
THAT’S TRUE. ROCK–DO YOU WANT THAT BET FOR $50 OR $100?
I’m in Show Me mode too Randy. LOL I’ll pass this year until they can prove it to me when I’m sober and not game 3 PS against backups.
That’s a bad bet for Phelon, you’re taking advantage of him, you should be giving him 2-1 odds at least
Dolphins to make the playoffs: +140, so to win a playoff game would be quite a bit higher
Rewatched the Long TD, that was overturned, wow! Must’ve been a score ruling, we were so far in front the NFL had to do something
ROCK, PHELON???
I’LL TAKE YOUR NON-RESPONSES to mean we DON’T have a bet of any kind.

As I read above, Phelon challenged YOU and you accepted. There is a $100 bet IN PLACE as far as I can read. I declined to join the action.

Our boy Thomas finished the preseason as the highest rated QB
Not bad for a 7th round pick
That Hunter Long TD was ABSOFUCKINGLUTLY A TD!!
LOCKS WR
Hill Waddle Wilson EzE Bowden Cracraft
Hard to argue against that, either Sherfield or Sanu, because they’re the MM blockers he covets, but Cracrafty has an always open feeling to him, that I like
It was just preseason, but how do you really take anything good out of this performance by Philly, other than the RB Huntly?
For us it sure beats what Philly has to deal with today
Gregg Little seems to have granted my wish of Larnell not making the 53
Eguavoen seems to have done just enough at the witching hour to again make the 53, although it’s time to cut him loose and give someone else a shot, like Goode or Gustin
Finally saw something from Michel, even though his ypc were low he did have the short yardage carries we need
Several of the highlights featured either Carter or Smythe playing FB, even when they didn’t get the block, they got in the way enough to make the play go. Imagine what a real FB will do
I’m all in on SkyVailoa, both continue to look great
OL finally came to play last night, Jackson on the sack seemed to have given up
With only Needham as our only starting CB on the field the rest seemed to have held their own. We need Jones back for week 2, not really so worried about him week 1
Goode over Eguana
Tua shuld have thrown that one away!
I agree, but that doesn’t make it ok for Jackson to stop on the play
Nice
Is that allowed?
Is Tua allowed to have a clean pocket?
Shouldn’t there be a holding penalty or something, because we obviously can’t pass block
It don’t get more honest than that. Glad Tyreek is on our team.
Does the recent retirement announcement of JC. Tretter explain the reason why we didn’t sign him?
Hey Rensek, nope, it’s actually the other way around. Tretter retired because no team showed an interest in signing him this offseason after the Cleveland Browns released him, and he’s probably not wrong when he suggests his role as NFLPA president and his outspokenness about off-the-field issues played a role in that. There’s an interesting story on SI.com about Tretter where he addresses his retirement and a comment he once made that, “My NFLPA job is gonna end my career well before my knees end my career.”

On the Tua sack, the way I saw it Jackson had the rusher pushed past the pocket, Tua moved out of the pocket because he felt the inside pressure and moved into the sack. I didn’t really think Jackson was that bad on the play.
He wasn’t that bad, the point was Jackson quit on the play, if he had stayed at least in the chase Tua would’ve had a place to go, but with no other blockers in his way the DE had an easy sack
Tua fdup and so did Jackson, but only a little bit
It’s 1 sack, no big deal
Agreed, not a big deal, we just talking analysis of a single down. Tim isn’t on right now, so we don’t have to defend ourselves for analyzing a negative play 😉
I put the sack more on Tua. He got happy feet because of inside pressure, whereas Jackson pushed the rusher up the field past the pocket and when the rusher got the edge Tua was right there because he moved into his path. I think Tua still had time in the pocket. Just the way I saw it though; the coaches might see it closer to your view and give each player some responsibility.
😁 Tim
Dolphins with only 8 penalties in 3 games.
Shows good coaching, and not much need to commit them, because you’re overmatched, like a rusher or wr running free
OD – Sorry, stepped away for a bit. Since I made the bet, yes I am in, $50 Miami wins a play off game. And if you want – $50 bucks says they win the division.
You should bet with me, then I’ll take your $100 and make the bets with odds, if you win I win🤣

Tua looks very very comfortable operating the PAP and bootleg game down in
@MiamiDolphins
-ball comes out quick
-throws very well on the run while maintaining placement
It’s what caused the throw to Hill to be late, but I’ll take that over QB hits
It’s what happens when you bring in playmakers to mesh with good QBs and offenses
@NFL_Stats
#Dolphins QB Skylar Thompson dominated this preseason 🔥
His stats…
• 36 for 48 (75%)
• 450 passing yards
• 5 TDs – 0 INTs
• 138.4 passer rating
• 26 rush yards
Winning game 3 PS in a blowout also keeps your players away from trying to do too much to make a play, by over-extending themselves, leaving them susceptible to injury
Don’t remember anyone getting hurt
don’t read this OD
Whatever
Pass rushers are good to have
Hell yeah

#Patriots rookie WR Tyquan Thornton underwent surgery Monday to repair a fractured clavicle, per source. Recovery time should be 6-8 weeks from the procedure but could vary depending on healing and re-acclimation to football. 2nd round pick still set to help offense this year
The ass-kissing of Bellicheat is fading, but it’s still there ..
“2nd round pick still set to help offense this year”
riiiiight … you mean after a broken collar bone?
and the doc says he must “re-acclimate” to football?
Can you read “may be season-ending or even career-ending”
in that term?
I hope the young man is ok and all, but
I have rarely heard of a casual injury needing “re-acclimation.”
That was their speed guy, too.
I hope the patsies* go 6-10,
so they suck but don’t get a great draft pick.
I can’t remember the last time we had a roster this talented
