  1. If you listen to the presser Gase gave after practice and the tone when asked about Pead’s hamstring with the answer “yeah, it’s unfortunate for him with another hamstring……..we’ll have to see where we’re at with the roster” it doesn’t sound like Pead is going to make the cut.

Fans must be pretty optimistic for the most part about the upcoming season because we’ve got a rb with bone on bone in Ajayi, another who’s an aging rb coming off an Achilles and a third who’s a rookie that has seen zero action and has an injury history throughout college and the sky isn’t falling.
    It’s all good.

Kenny Stills, the Dolphins’ starting flanker, suffered an injury during 1-on-1 drills during a collusion. Stills laid on the bubble turf for a couple minutes while a trainer examined his back.

DeVante Parker, the Dolphins’ starting split end, possibly re-aggravated his hamstring injury during the same 1-on-1 drill. Parker caught a deep touchdown pass over Bobby McCain and came up limping. He never returned to practice after limping back to the huddle.

Afterward, coach Adam Gase said he had no update on any injuries during practice because he came to his presser before speaking with trainers.

Receiver DeVante Parker also stopped practicing after he got tangled with cornerback Bobby McCain. He was seen having his left hamstring stretched out.

Parker missed a couple of practice earlier in training camp because of a hamstring injury.

Stills was not the only player who left practice after an apparent injury.

Starting left guard Laremy Tunsil also left the bubble after warmups. He took no team drills.

Mario Williams also did not practice at all today for unknown reasons. The Dolphins announce players who are not practicing because of an injury prior to each practice. They did not announce Williams.

One thing about the Chris McCain trade which is a bit of whoa…, he’s never really established himself other than potential and he was undrafted, so any compensation is a solid deal. Obviously this coaching staff told management he’s not making the 53.

  41. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Alright Lou, you’re just blowing smoke out your ass 😛 I went back and watched all the plays in the Atlanta game where Young was at RT. He had one play where his man lined up wide and cut back inside of him, then Douglas picked him up and the defender almost had a sack, but Doughty completed a 2 yard pass. On 2 other plays they had him going to the second level to pick off LBs on one of them, the LB assisted in the tackle and the other the tackle was already made before the LB got to the play. He’ll never make those 2 2nd level blocks, not sure why they even had him try, not many RTs are going to make it.

I’ve seen all of Young’s play this preseason and 90% of the time he takes his man out of the play, and he gets push on run blocks. He’s pretty slow, but he gets the job done. Again, I’d like to see how he looks against Wake, if he can’t handle the speed rushers, then I can see why he’s 3rd string, but he hasn’t gone up against anyone in preseason that I saw that resembled a speed rusher.

I’ve had so many black dudes and women say what are you doing here over the years? Why are they saying that? They know it’s a bad situation and nervous America can’t deal with it still.

We all know to stay away from the deep woods and the hicks and hardcore rednecks right? But that’s okay to say. Until America becomes realistic we’ll play this faux game forever. It’s a travesty that we continue to ignore for political reasons.

  65. the more I think about it and the way this team is working this year on bringing up the quality on the back end of the roster the more I’d have to say Banks is a guy I could see us going after

    • getterdone's avatar getterdone says:

      Banks?

      • Johnathan. He’s the odd man out in Tampa now with Verner, Grimes and VHIII after being a 2nd rd pick in ’13. Word was earlier Bucs were looking to possibly cut him but nothing happened. May be some team wants to try and get him before he hits the open market.
If we have Howard on one side and Maxwell on the other the depth at CB isn’t the greatest and Banks would help solidify that depth. I was all for drafting Lippett at CB but I don’t know if he’s ever going to get it done there.

      • Chekwa is finished, Melvin’s getting cut and Lucas and Pitts are looking at PS at best. That leaves us with four cb’s in Howard, Lippett, Maxwell and Bobby. Banks makes a ton of sense.

  66. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

Banks is a tall skinny corner, not physical enough for VJ’s likings, plus he had a rotten 2015. There’ll be other cuts, plus give Lippett a lil more time now….lol

  68. I’m just thinking out loud here. I’ve looked up and down the rosters of other teams and there doesn’t seem to be the situation the Bucs have w/Banks and after seeing earlier there was a possibility he’d be let go the wheels started to spin.
He’s a 6′ press man guy, yeah he’s not the most physical guy, but he played press man well. Last year he had an off year for some reason but if you look at his first two seasons and the fact that he’s only been in the league 3 yrs he’s a guy VJ could utilize in his scheme. Only thing is if it doesn’t happen over next few days I doubt it’s going to happen.
Just a speculation thing on my part. This staff and regime isn’t going to stand pat on what we’ve got and will be looking to work the roster at every turn so when I saw that earlier it was something that I started to think about. Chances are we’d be trading a 5th or later to get him. JMHO

I just said he would make a lot of sense for Phins because Lippett’s not getting it down and all we’ve got is Maxwell, the rookie Howard and Bobby besides Lippett. Culliver is going to be on the PUP 6 more wks. So, there’s no depth at CB. Banks is in the last yr of his rookie deal and he can’t dictate to a team he wants to be a starter and wants starter money in a trade.
As a 6′ press corner he kind of fits VJ’s scheme

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

9 vets that could be cut, if the dead money wasn’t so high, and if we actually had a replacement, then Cameron may get cut, since that’s not the case why include him? I’d say over 50% of FA signings don’t live up to the hype the first year.

  74. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

I read this on Yahoo Sports badmouthing the McCain trade. Guess they have a point, but I see it as a solid on our part. They new he wouldn’t make the team and instead of holding on in case he got injured sent him off to where he could. To my mind that is treating your players right. That gets around, particularly when it comes to FA.

“Receiving only a seventh round pick in return, the Miami Dolphins also did got gain much from this move. While it may have occurred to potentially open a roster slot up for a rookie or another player, if McCain goes on to have a solid season with the Saints, this move will undoubtedly be questioned by many of the Dolphins’ faithful.”

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Yeah it is a business — but the less you can make it one the better it is for a team. Money always comes first, but playing for a character place is somewhere on the list.

I don’t hate kaepernick for his position

But I think he generalized and made a very vague protest instead of a specific one

And it’s a lot more powerful if you articulate why you take a position
I don’t really admire Kaepernick as a patriot
It seems more like a reckless position that wasn’t really well thought out

So much you can do to tackle this problem
      Including making statements
      But not that one

Some people just aren’t very good at making statements – and that is how I see Kaep, not as a bad person or a patriot, but as some one passionate about something that lacks the ability to express it in a positive way

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

So he won’t stand for the national anthem in a country that oppresses people of color but he’ll play football in this country and make millions.

This is another example of broad brushing entire groups of people unfairly. White America, white privilege, white cops, white this, white that, like we’re all the same. No group of people are all the same but it continues to go on and that’s the problem.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I don’t think some one has to support everything about the. Country bc they are making $ and some one who is successful doesn’t lose their right to make a statement in my view

I don’t get using Kaeps success against him

One has nothing to do with another

I have some substantive issues with criticizing “America” in such general terms instead of making a fact specific protest with a view at a solution

But that doesn’t matter whether some one is successful or not

The reason you hear successful athletes take a stand as opposed to regular joes is bc they have a voice

I view attacking his success as a means to silence the voice rather than argue the substance

  77. The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I think he is ignorant too
I don’t love the way he expressed his message

I just think people have to slow down a little
there is a danger that his inarticulate rant represents the most vocal point to a very serious issue

there was a better way to make his point
he is not in the spotlight bc he is a great public speaker
he is there bc he is an athlete
So I don’t want to be too tough on him

I just don’t think its hypocritical for a minority who has been successful to highlight that that that success is not the norm or that in spite of his success he faces obstacles bc he is a minority

He didn’t say that though (even though I think that is what he meant to say)
instead he sounded like a college kid taking his first bong hit and left jerks like me with the burden to point out that discrimination is a very real thing….lol

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Discrimination is a very real thing but it’s not just that, there is more to the problem. Many black males are victims of other black males in crime ridden neighborhoods and many of them have confrontations with the police not just because they’re black, but because they engage in criminal activities. You have to find solutions to nip it in the bud, not keep playing the blame game and broad brushing large groups of people who have nothing to do with any of it. It’s getting out of hand and too many politicians do nothing about it other than use these issues to prop themselves up. Their words don’t accomplish anything.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

It’s straight forward Stanger, non football injury list, it’s been used lots in the past. He got hurt doing something other than playing NFL FOOTBALL he could also have an agreement with the team to go on this list, so they won’t have to guarantee his contract. He may actually not be hurt, but Gase sounded upset when injured was reported

  82. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

I’m concerned about the defense. There will alot of pressure on the starting corners and DL to perform given the issues at LB. The safety position seems adequate for now but depth at LB & CB is really shot. If the DE don’t create consistent pass rush pressure then it will all fall apart like a house of cards.

  83. Al in MIA's avatar Al in MIA says:

I do believe the offense will come around but I just don’t get a feel that they can carry the team in a bad defensive showing. I know that there is a sense that if the offense gets ahead that the D can perform better but I would also argue that when opponents faced Miami the last two years, they themselves didn’t push their offense unless they needed to (knowing Miami’s offense probably will implode and give them the game advantage). When they did crank it up, they usually moved the ball.

Chris Culliver will be placed on reserve PUP next week and will not count on 53. He also will be able to come back during the season.

Al, I don’t have a great feel for this team yet. Need to see them play some real games and see these coaches coach. We’ll find out then if we have too many areas that aren’t good enough. But I do like some of the talent and potential on this team that can help us get better.

    • One of the things I think we’ll see and I’m sure hoping we’ll see is the players be better prepared to play against a particular team on game day. By that I mean it seemed like there were plenty of games we looked like the preparation leading up to the game was lax and I don’t think we’re going to see that this season.
We may not win every game but I don’t think we’re going to get our heads handed to us too many times either.

  93. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Stanger, I have caught some of Ballers a few times I just don’t watch it regularly. If Suh wasn’t ready to go due a non-team injury he’d get put on the reserve/non-football injury list as well but the team has the option to pay or not to pay but with him they would.

I don’t think there is anything suspicious here with Jordan. If he failed another drug test he’d be suspended for the season or longer and we’d cut ties with him. He gets tested like 3 times per week.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

“but the team has the option to pay or not to pay but with him they would.”

That is the big part of what I didn’t know. Blame me for trusting Ballers on it though. They did insist in the episode that going non-football would be a way to cut someone and not have to pay the contract or have it count against the cap when they did.

  94. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Putting these guys on the PUP isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it gives them a chance to get healthy, and gives someone else a chance to play a little.

PUP, NFL it’s really the same thing, unless you can come back from one sooner.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Agreed. As the season goes on there will be injuries and roster moves and when these guys are ready they could be activated. None of them are surprises, none of them have been working with the team because they’re injured.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That does suck. It can happen at any time to any player. I wish him the best.

      • Brian in NY's avatar Brian in NY says:

Yeah, and it was a non-contact injury, which is never good.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

That’s why you can’t really play football fearing injuries because some of the worst ones are non-contact getting your leg caught the wrong way or whatever. Alonzo has a rep of not being durable but his main knee injury happened when he was training, not even on the football field. It’s not like he’s always getting banged up and missing games. Last year with the Eagles it was a reaggravation of the same knee and then he played the last 9 games of the season. It happens to a lot of players.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Just saw it and it sucks for us too. Now AFC teams that have to play the Vikings, and Cowboys may not have to face their starting QBs.
