How we address the OL this year is going to determine the success, or failure of our team. We’ve been using half measures for too long, and it’s time to finally get that unit performing at a high level. Without inside knowledge from the team, I feel strongly that this O-line will be made right, or they will die trying for this season. The news last night regarding the non-exclusive franchise tag designation for WR Jarvis Landry, at least at the moment, almost ensures we’re going to have to use the draft to fix the O-line. The $16.2M salary for this season will prohibit a big free agent signing, leaving the draft as the more likely alternative. Unless of course, the Dolphins work out a long term contract with Landry. We’ll have to wait and see on that. The Dolphins will still be making quite a few cuts and restructures, but those cuts won’t add up to one of the best FA OL, so that would mean more half measures. Skip it guys, and do it right!
Andrew Norwell 6’6 325 26YO

2018’s version of Kevin Zeitler, who was last year’s best guard on the market. Zeitler was 27, Norwell is even younger at 26. Norwell, despite playing well, has started and finished each game he’s been asked to the last 3 years. He played and started 13 games in ’15, and then the following 2 seasons in ’16 and ’17 he started 16 games, so Norwell has shown he’s durable. Sounds great, right? It is, but unless we free up massive cap space, we just can’t afford to pay Norwell what he’s going to get, which is north of $11M per season, and closer to $12M He would be a fantastic pickup for the Dolphins, and finally give us a legitimate LG, which I believe would also make our young LT , Laremy Tunsil, so much better. We’ll have to wait and see how the Landry situation plays out, because until something happens on that front, it’s going to make this kind of signing nearly impossible.
************************************************************************************
Jonathan Cooper 6’2 311 28YO

Wow! Remember Jonathan Cooper? Tim had him penciled in as our 1st RD draft pick so many years ago on our live draft! Jahn and I had exhausting debates on who was the better player, Jonathan Cooper or Chance Warmack. Here we are 5 years later, and Cooper may have had the most bizarre career path ever. After being drafted at #7 by the Arizona Cardinals, Cooper broke his fibula in the 3rd preseason game, ending his season. Replaced by (He-he) Ted Larsen, Cooper was unable to regain his starting spot, and some felt the leg injury may have hurt him more than expected. Wrist injuries and knee injuries gave the job back to Larsen after Cooper finally got his shot to start.
In 2016, Cooper and a 2nd RD draft pick were sent to the New England Patriots to acquire DE Chandler Jones. Cooper NEVER played a game for the Patriots. He was waived, and then the Browns picked him up, and in ’16, all Cooper could manage was 5 games and 3 starts for the Browns. Last season, Cooper was picked up by the Cowboys, and he finally got some meaningful playing time, starting 13 games on that vaunted line. He played well last season, and due to his uneven career, he should be a relative bargain. Granted, this could easily be filed under the half measure side of the ledger, but Cooper was an extremely talented prospect, that just seems to have had some bad luck. 5 years in the NFL, 1 broken leg and 4 teams. He played well for the Cowboys last season, maybe Cooper’s star is on the rise for good now.
************************************************************************************
Josh Kline 6’3 310 28YO

Kline was an undrafted free agent in 2013 who was picked up by the New England Patriots. Kline had to wait a couple of years before being elevated to starter, and in ’15, Kline started 14 games. In ’16, the Tennessee Titans picked him up in FA, and he’s been the starter there the last 2 seasons, playing both LG and RG. Kline is a grinder in the run game, paving the way for backs Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray. He will be due a pretty large payday, Spotrac expects him to be around the $10M range. Right now, we’re not able to fit that in.
***********************************************************************************
Luke Joeckel 6’6 306 26YO

Yes, another fallen star. Joeckel was drafted #2 overall in the 2013 NFL draft by the Jaguars, 5 spots ahead of one Jonathan Cooper. If Cooper has had a strange career path, Joeckel’s isn’t too many miles behind. As a rookie, the green LT played in only 5 games, but in 2014, Joeckel started all 16 games for Jacksonville at LT, and then 14 games in 2015. In 2016, the LG experiment began, and the career took a detour. Once a very athletic, slightly underweight dancer at LT, now put in a power position inside at LG, didn’t work. Joeckel eventually had knee surgery, ending the experiment with JAX. The jags declined to pick up the 5th year option, and the Seattle Seahawks, desperate for O-line help gave the beleaguered OL another chance. Joeckel started 11 games for the Seahawks, but is still a work in progress. It would be hard to say Joeckel is the obvious answer to our woes here, but he would be a relatively low risk, or half measure solution. Sorry folks, the options out there just aren’t great.
************************************************************************************
Justin Pugh 6’5 307 27YO

Another former 1st RD pick, this FA seems to chock full of them. Pugh was a very successful player in the NFL, playing both RT and and LG. Pugh was an immediate starter with the Giants after being drafted at #19 in the 2013 NFL draft, yeah, THAT draft, along with Cooper and Joeckel. Cooper started all 16 games at RT his rookie season, and was a fan favorite. He played his next season starting 14 games at RT, missing 2 games. In 2015, the Giants O-line was decimated, and Pugh filled in everywhere, at RT, LG and LT. In 2016, the Giants decided to move Pugh permanently to LG, where he started 14 games. He was considered one of the top OG’s in the game that season. Pugh battled minor injuries in ’16, playing and starting only 11 games. In 2017, he started 8 games before going down with back issues, which later ended his season on IR.
While Pugh has been a great player in the league, injuries have shortened the last 2 seasons for him, but he’s a very tough, talented player. Spotrac expects Pugh’s salary to be around $6.5M, which is not an outrageous, though risky proposition.
************************************************************************************
There seems to be only one easy solid answer to our long term issue, but it’s an extremely expensive one with Andrew Norwell. All the other guys except for Kline are more risky, but might bring better rewards if they pay off. If Pugh is truly healthy, I’d take him on our team, I’ve seen him play quite a bit for the Giants. There are some older players that can give us short term help, but I’m tired of going that route. Some other possibilities are Jack Mewhort, who has been on a downslide for a couple of years, Zach Fulton formerly of the Chiefs, and Kevin Pamphile of the Bucs. Both Fulton and Pamphile have been regular starters, but I’m not sure if they are upgrades to what we have. If you have any thoughts, let me hear them . . .

Lou – I’ll give you another analogy that you can better understand. Wendell Smallwood has a higher percentage of TD’s per carry (.021) compared to Jay Ajayi (.014). Is Smallwood the better running back? Is he more of a goal line threat compared to Ajayi? The answer to both questions is no, but the stats can show it that way, if you extrapolate silly things like percentage of catches for 1st down, or TD’s per rush attempt.
Yeah. I see your point now
The FA class does seem to be light.
I think Cleveland may. be where SF was about 5 or 6 years ago….years of accumulating Hugh draft picks leading to a team with a good defense and a lot of talent. if they find at least a competent QB, They may be ready to take a step up in class.
They have the cap for significant FA acquisitions, could draft Barkley and a QB in the 1st and then add good prospects at multiple positions with their three 2’s, a 3rd, two 4’s, two 5’s, a 6 and a 7. They can really transform their team.
Glad y’all slowed down with the posts. I was having a hard time catching up.
I think Miami tagged Landry early so the team could see if there was a trade market for him (which there should be).
Only thing I can come up with as well. Other theory was he will get to see what other teams are willing to offer him, but how realistic is that when they also have to give up two firsts. Guess those same teams could be throwing out what they would pay him if they did trade for him though.
Yeah , I don’t see anyone making him an offer if they have to give up 2 firsts.
http://amp.si.com/nfl/2018/02/21/mock-draft-sam-darnold-browns-josh-allen-giants
What I’ve been saying all along. If Baker is there they will take him.
Ugh! I hate that the Jets get Quenton Nelson. What do you think of us taking Mayfield?
You see Nelson going earlier and earlier with each one of these new mocks.
If we were to take Mayfield it wouldn’t be such a bad thing. He’s a pick at #11, not trading multiple picks from two drafts to land him. So if he doesn’t pan out to be very good, it’s the not the end of the world. If he is good you win.
I think i’d be excited if we got Allen or Mayfield. It would make things very interesting in MIA. Rosen or any of the 2nd or 3rd or 4th tier, not so much. I wouldn’t mind if we took a QB late instead, I just wouldn’t be hyped up about it.
One thing for sure is Tannehill would never be able to play a bad game without everyone calling for Mayfield to start. LOL
You’re not a fan of Rosen?
I’m okay with taking Mayfield. He’s boom or bust. I like RT and have defended him, but he’s top of the average band at best. I see him as on par with Flacco, Matt Ryan, etc. he’s a franchise QB, but not elite and not special. Could he get better…sure. Just not likely.
Mayfield may be special. He may not be. But you don’t find a lot of Bradys out there. You have to swing for the fences if you want to hit a home run.
Mayfield may be special or he may not be is a heck of a bold statement…lol😁
Okay, got to board my flight. I’ll be back.
Don’t forget the AR15! 🙂
Tim – Nah, not thrilled with Rosen. Something about him I just don’t trust. He’s got the talent, just not sure if he’s “the guy”
Mayfield has that fire and Allen has the cannon and the prototype size.
If we draft Mayfield at 11 Hulk smash puny hospital bed. Mayfield is being way overrated
I tend to think Phish is right
Kind of boom or bust
Could be worse that Tannehill and be a really bad pick
But might be special
His physical skills are not special hard to be special without those
I do t think Peyton has special physical skills
Brady either
I wouldn’t say Brees has great physical skills
I think those guys are cerebral types
Both had better arms. Manning had much better size. Also don’t forget Brees was a second round pick
Hulk will be fine with Josh Allen but I don’t see him making it past 4 or 5
I see him as the kind of guy with the possibility of having a top 5 team fall in love with him
Or having other teams pass him by as “too early”
I think he will wind up #1 overall
He has special physical talent
Could be
The qb position is pretty unique
Doesn’t have to be the top rated prospect to go 1
Mayfield has that contagious leadership quality that everyone buys into. Obviously he has to play well, but that’s big. People play better when they believe in you.
That is big in college but in the pros you need the physical skills
Ken – How are you feeling today?
Hulk getting angry with talk of drafting Baker Mayfield. LOL. I am doing better than yesterday. I am still in a lot of pain but it is more manageable. I am not requesting my pain meds 4 hours on the dot today like I had been the first couple of days
That’s good, glad you’re improving
A few more gamma rays and you’ll be fine Ken
Okay humans give me your top 5
It doesn’t have to be based on team needs
And I don’t mean who are your top 5 prospects
I mean who do you think is most to fill out the top 5 (in no specific order)
I’m going with
Barkley
Chubb
Rosen
Darnold
Fitzpatrick
Replace Fitzpatrick with Allen and that is my top 5
I’d say that’s as good as any. Probably pretty accurate.
Some stuff about our cap situation.
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/armando-salguero/article201584959.html
Easiest way to get the cap under control is to get rid of Tannenbaum. I’m sorry but the Suh signing was a fucking travesty
It’s not going to happen though. Ross already said that Tannenbaum, Grier and Gase remain so it’s a moot point.
I didn’t say it would. I’m just saying that if the team really wants to get it’s cap under control then getting rid of Tannenbaum would be the easiest way to fix it.
Mando pretty much threw anything and everything out there. But guess you can take it as a list of options to cut cap. We can start with Thomas and Timmons either gone or on “show me” contracts though.
Hulk feeling better? Sorta of figuring you will get over the pain and then get real frustrated by the whole thing.
Off topic, but I saw this headline as a sign that the end of days (or maybe the pig uprising) is near: “In One Tweet, Kylie Jenner Wiped Out $1.3 Billion of Snap’s Market Value.”
BARKLEY
ALLEN
FITZPATRICK
DARNOLD
ROSEN
i know you said not in order, but That is the order I think they will go.
Tim, who would have predicted we would have cap problems with TanneBUM in charge? Oh, wait that was ME when we hired him. The Suh signing was just stupid.
Ah Crap. Lou and I agree.
Dander Will Robinson!
Danger. oh well.
Armando also pointed out there are ways around that.
ways around what? Suh’s contract #’s? yeah, let’s restructure the guy so we’re in cap hell until he’s 40
Good, it’s about time. The things Mando mentioned were cutting Suh outright to save about $17M, or trading him, which would save about $3M. I think the latter is more likely than the former, but it would have to be a team with tons of cap space, and of course, a team that loves Suh
That was in the article I posted.
Yes, both things were.
If the Phins have a chance, they’re drafting Baker Mayfield. No doubt in my mind. No players has been more hyped with the Phins fans than Mayfield has to this point and Ross keeps his ear to the ground. He hears all the Phins fans out there banging the table for Mayfield and he’s got a stadium to pay for and Mayfield is going to put butts in the seats.
Head & Shoulders Will Robinson! (that should help with the Dander) 😉
When one player makes up 14.7% of your cap (who is not a QB) and two players including the QB make up 26% of your cap, you are going to have cap problems. I said this in 2015 when we signed Suh to the stupid contract. TWO PLAYERS are eating more than a quarter of our cap room! With Landry’s tag, three players will eat up 35% of our cap….
It’s not a great year for FA anyway so I don’t see us being big spenders even if we end up with a decent amount after cuts and restructures. Keep building with youth.
Piggy, your top 5 is very possible.
for once I’d just like to see the people running this organization show some balls and do something aggressive.
cut Suh, Tannehill, Wake, Pouncey, Timmons & Thomas and decline the 5th yr option on James.
Sometimes I do too, not necessarily Tannehill, but I hear ya. Who’s Thomas? Michael Thomas?
Tight end
orange Julius (I can understand if you still say “who?”
LMAO Rock – I’ve had him off the team since the season ended. 🙂
well, I forgot he was on the team mid-season last year. 😉
It’s not a great year for FA anyway so….
Yeah Tim, but we are in a position where we have to restructure guys or cut ok players just to get under the cap. (at least until the Landry issue runs it’s course) Restructuring only pushes the pain out to future years.
Filling your roster with mostly drafted players and some UDFAs also buys you time as those contracts run out when the first time UFAs are up?
3 players 35% of cap. 50 players 65% of cap. Sumting Wong here.
Nogtih all!
Who’s the guy on the right, I can’t remember his name?
Mike Garafolo
Thanks
I never worry about the cap…
That’s the best practice because we don’t always know exactly how the deals were done or what the plans are.
Yep. Eagles are over the cap, you think their fans are worried?
There is gonna be a lot of changes coming. There really is no big FAs out there this year either, so Phins will be fine money wise.
ER – Why would Eagles fans be worried about the cap? They have a great team right now.
I think he means they won doing that. Also the Eagles weren’t a great team just a year ago. That’s how quickly things can turn around. We’ve been seeing a lot of that lately. Hopefully we get to experience that someday soon. 🙂
That being said, I don’t worry about the cap either, but I would think Dolphins fans have more to worry about than Eagles fans
Eagles aren’t paying that big QB money yet and are over the cap…they will be making changes.
I’m just saying it’s no big deal. Lol
Tim – Yeah, I hope so man. I also don’t want to be a flash in the pan, I’d like some consistency
Oh stop… you’ll take a championship and you’ll like it even if it means followed by 5 bad and/or mediocre seasons that we’ve become accustomed too. LOL
OK, maybe a very fulfilling championship season . . . lol
Everyone should look on the bright side. If they have no cap space , they can’t make stupid FA signings.
Yep!
Excellent point!
Suh is the only debatable stupid contract. All the other signings can basically be cleared even starting with the Maxwell trade, the signing of Timmons or the trade for Thomas. I highly doubt Landry stays at the franchise tag. Tannehill is on a yearly play for pay deal. Nobody else is paid a crazy amount.
I don’t get the heat on Branch’s deal either. He’s making about average for a DE. He was disappointing last year but played hurt without one word about it. He has already had surgery so it isn’t an excuse he was playing hurt.
I mostly agree. Timmons would have been stupid if he had not went AWOL.
The FO does have to realize that they swung and missed on Maxwell, Timmons and Thomas. But they weren’t devastating long-term effects.
There they go on Suh again…
SMMFH
Suh-Makes-Meatballs-Fairly-Heavy?
Yes
Knew it!
It’s just the cap hit that freaks everyone out, not Suh the player. He’s one of the best defenders in the league regardless of what some people say. The backend of our defense needs to get on the same page and tighten things up. Do that and see why Suh is a terror.
Thanks for settling me down. Oh and put me among those who don’t worry about the cap.
Can’t see the forest for the trees 🌲
A butcher a Baker
A touchdown maker
( to Landry)
Alright D the moratorium is over get back here
Yeah –
Where has that wordy stomrstrooper been!?!?
Is it at all possible it’s like this:
” Jarvis we love you and you are a huge part of what we are building. We’re going to tag you because we have to clear cap space while also upgrading our offense and we don’t want to risk losing you.”
So let’s find some common ground on a contract because we’re not paying you $16M for 2018.
Right but that 16 and probably more is going to be guaranteed anyway
Armed cameras you operate with a toggle. Down every hallway of every school in the country.
Maybe not so good in a crowd
Drones of security are in our future.
Sonny – I hope we find a way to keep Landry, I would hate to see him go. We finally get one right, it seems a damn shame to let him go. We have no control, we just gotta watch and let it play out. The good thing is that we will definitely be getting some compensation if he doesn’t stay, so there’s that.
If we really want to keep Landry and pay him whatever 13-14 per, the guaranteed money is key. We can make his salary cap hit low at least the first year but he know’s he’s getting X amount guaranteed. As his contract grows, there are outs with Suh and Tannehill. It depends on where this team thinks they are and if they’re going to make a run before we really turn it over.
I’d consider it much worse than a damn shame honestly. One we’d forever regret.
Build on the special talent. Mediocrity doesn’t win.
Setting league and team records since he got in the league but we can’t use him. I don’t get it.
I feel it in my trotters –
Landry is staying
Tannehill and the 11 for either the 4 or the 5
Difference between the Phins and the Eagles is the Eagles went out and signed players that would make them a better team and we went out and signed one year rental guys that wouldn’t be here the next season as stop gaps to get us thru the season.
Problem as I see it is when you sign one year stop gap guys how hard are they really going to work to help you achieve your goal of winning.
Besides Suh when Tannebaum was here in 2015, Gase and Grier are only on two years as HC and GM. This group has made the roster dominated mostly by the draft and in-house so far.
what I’m saying is some guys in this league know how to assemble a roster that can compete and win championships and other guys know how to assemble rosters that are made up of has beens that have no business starting anywhere.
time to blow up this roster and show they’ve got some balls.
cut Suh, Tannehill, Pouncey, Wake, Timmons, Thomas. trade Landry and decline the 5th yr option on James. puts us at about $57M in cap. make the moves necessary to make the team better rather than living in the mediocrity zone forever.
Here it is with all the cuts I made plus the trade of Landry and the trade of Parker to the Jags for Smoot. In addition, I signed wr Jordan Matthews and olb Nigel Bradham in FA. We still need a starting QB, TE, WR, DE, DT, C and RT.
That’s a lot but if Davis is as good as they’re giving him credit for then maybe we don’t need the RT.
for entertainment purposes only!! lol
Lou, I’m not blowing it up in 2018. If that’s a sub par season than yes in 2019.
Yeah. No need to have a QB next year……worked well for the Broncos.
Thomas and Timmons are good as gone. James can’t be cut unless he passes physical. I’m good with cutting Poncey but not if James is gone. You can’t just dismantle the entire OL.
Everyone knows how I feel about Parker…..
Get Landry locked up and sign the man.
This is Suh. There is no defensive prospect even close to him in this draft or even in recent ones. That’s why he gets paid the way he does. Do you want the NFL highlights? This isn’t a dozen or so examples, it goes on for quite some time. He’s super talented and violent. Keep watching into the NFL.
Wait for Aaron Donald….He’s gonna get a HUGE contract next year.
I think nobody discounts Suh’s ability, it’s just the price for him while the defense still stinks like the rest of team.
I disagree. We have good pieces in place on defense. You sometimes have to look at circumstances. Like an offense that evens the playing field. We didn’t build on 2016, we took a step back. But it doesn’t mean we can’t get back to the playoffs in 2018 and you never know. 🙂
Pieces that stunk as a whole…..lol
We had over a dozen new defenders who played significant snaps and roles this year. We had an unkind season with injuries and BS. Some major stuff on offense too.
Coaches and new coaches have to do a better job along with players.
I tend to agree with ER. Not a lot to get excited about on this team. Landry is one of the few pieces to get excited about
The cheerleaders too
This aught to make OD happy?
11: R1P11 G QUENTON NELSON, NOTRE DAME
42: R2P10 C BILLY PRICE, OHIO STATE
73: R3P9 TE MIKE GESICKI, PENN STATE
113: R4P11 LB DARIUS LEONARD, SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
132: R4P30 RB ROYCE FREEMAN, OREGON
186: R6P9 S JESSIE BATES, WAKE FOREST
223: R7P5 EDGE JOE OSTMAN, CENTRAL MICHIGAN
229: R7P11 CB RASHAAN GAULDEN, TENNESSEE
Make me happy too!
That’s going to make most of us happy
But you need to get a QB too
Lots of interesting chatter on the radio this morning. Boomer Esiason on WFAN in NY thinks the Dolphins could be a surprise entry into the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes. I think he’s wrong. Other tidbits were the thoughts that the Dolphins love Mayfield, and will trade up to get him
Hulk just smash bed pan
LOL – Two perfect scenarios to turn banner into the Hulk
Right now it doesn’t take much to make Hulk mad
Ken – All this speculation is fueled by the fact that they think Tannenbaum likes to make the big splash. I don’t know where they get that from . . .
Enough with the big splash let’s build a team instead. The big slpashes haven’t done anything for us
I agree completely. I just think Mikey Tradey-Pants isn’t happy unless he’s wheeling and dealing. I don’t mind if they have a guy they love and they get him, but not at the cost of doing everything else you need to do as well.
I wouldn’t want Cousins. I think he is just okay, middle of the pack.
I think he’s been just a little better than Tannehill in Tannehill’s good seasons. He really only had one bad season (Tannehill). I don’t see him worth $30M+, when we already have Tannehill. If we want a new QB, draft one, don’t grossly overpay for one in FA.
If I was the redskins and I drafted cousina I would be static
But if I was a team signing him and making him the highest paid qb in the nfl – not so much
Lol @ cousina
Now Son is going to be furious
So you are saying Cousins is shocked?
Be careful Ken
Saw Thor Ragornak last night and learned that Banner was stuck inside Hulk for 2 years
No one go inside Hulk – hey wait a minute
Piggy – If you were the Redskins, I’d feel pretty dopey that they didn’t work out a long term contract, kinda like we’re gonna feel if/when Landry is gone, but at least we have a shot of recouping something for Landry, Cousins is just gone.
Think about what the Redskins did at QB the last 5 years. They traded THREE 1st RD picks to the Rams, plus a 2nd RD pick in 2012. They doubled down in 2012, taking Cousins in the 4th RD. We all know what happened to RG III, but that opened the door for Cousins, who they TWICE paid the franchise tag price, $20M in ’16, $24M in ’17, and now he walks. That’s an INSANE investment
Pretty crazy. And Cousins just isn’t special.
Just imagine if we did that here, the way people bitch about Tannehill’s salary.
Lol…no kidding.
I agree with MikeE. Cousins is a little better than Tannehill but not that much better that I would sign him. I’d say Cousins is a top 10 QB but just barely. Also, I would be shocked if a team traded for Tannehill…as in the first round sort of trade…with him coming off his injuries. I think we’d have to give up more to move up into the top 5. I’m not a big fan of moving up in this draft unless they are going to target a QB. The problem with that is you may need to get into the top 3 to get one of the best QBs in this draft. I’m not sure any of these QBs are worth that.
Adam Schefter

@AdamSchefter
His free-agent tour continues: former Colts’ CB Vontae Davis visiting today with the Miami Dolphins, per source.
Come home Vontae
I’m willing to forgive….if the price is right.
I think they will sit and wait to see who goes 1 & 2 and if Mayfield is still on the board, try to jump to 4 or, if Denver gets Cousins, 5.
Just put some language in his contract about bathroom usage
And have a direct phone line to Grandma
Despite me being a fan of Cousins, especially at draft time, I also don’t want to pay him big money.
Cousins ain’t coming here. Gase likes Tanny. Only way we get Cousins is if Ross steps in. Doesn’t mean Cousins agent will not talk us up as a possible though…..could even be a visit.
All this talk about the salary cap, they can just write it off
“Jerry, all these big companies, they write off everything!”
You can only play the system so long though until people catch on.

I would say that might be Piggy being chased by some of his clients in New York, but he has pants on, so it can’t be him.
I wear my pants when I’m being chased
This is bizarre and scary.
http://www.12up.com/posts/5986216-high-school-shuts-down-after-former-dolphins-ol-posts-disturbing-instagram-threat?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=share
Dude has victim issues.
Yeah and this was more disturbing than all the other stuff.
Wow, that’s just unbelievable. Man really has held on this tight, and hasn’t let go
Still irrelevant! and a pain in the ass!
What am I missing here
Why was a high school shut down? What does he have to do with high school?
The story said he tagged them in the post.
Martin went to that HS and tagged someone (teacher?) who I guess also bullied him.
Oh got it
Another great draft pick….
See! You got to keep the few you get right!
Just saying…,I’m completely fine if they want to permanently take all the guns away from Jonathan Martin.
Yep!
We can call it the Big Werido Rule
Somewhere Richie Incognito was buying body armor
Seeing on twitter he was taken into custody.
Hopefully that is true
It is.
One of my wife’s students got arrested yesterday for basically the same thing. Kid said it was a joke. Definitely not a smart move even if he was joking.
Not smart at all at this particular time, in this climate. “Too soon”
Lots of kids have been getting taken into custody across the country for doing this sort of stuff after the shooting in Florida.
Yeah, but my wife didn’t know them, so the anecdote doesn’t work
The other person Martin tagged was a basketball player who went to HS with him. I guess he bullied him as well.
I bullied Jonelle Martin too.
When he was a freshman I shoved him in a cafeteria garbage can.
That was me not Jonelle you prick. You stopped picking on me after I made you wear an eye patch for the first quarter of the year though.
Oh, wait you don’t have curly red hair. It couldn’t have been you.
I only bully you at Dave and Busters when I steal your cigarettes
You’re as cuckoo as Martin
the $57M in cap is actually lower than it should be. we would have saved $17M cutting Suh and Spotrac only gave us $3.9M.
With nearly $70M in cap we could do a lot to get some players we need. Good players; not stop gap, one year rental guys.
we could build a team and get rid of guys we’re only going to be getting rid of anyway in another year. how do we build a team if some of these guys who are starters this year won’t even be here next season?
Compensatory picks awarded. None for the Dolphins but we weren’t expecting any. But now we’ll know the complete draft.
Egg foo young and Jonelle Martin are Ireland’s two biggest pillars of greatness.
Richie loved playing here and he’s a Pro bowler so Ireland goes and gets a psychotic doofus to plug in next to him.
LMAO!!!
Who did NE get a 4th for?
Douchbaggwry award
Whenever Jonelle comes up I think of Bat. I miss him.
Show yourself Bat. Hope you’re doing well my best to your Mrs should you see this. 👍
Come to the Fest this year Bat
We need to make the patsies look old next year. It’s time for their shit to end.
DILLY DILLY 👍
Screwed up stuff. Probably makes Richie and Pouncey say “told you so” at the same time.

Still cracking up about Egg foo young. LOL
👍🍺💨
Troy Stradford just called him the softest dude he’s ever met.
Pillsbury soft
Don’t squeeze the Charmin I mean the Jonathan Martin
He fucked over MY Dolphins
I’m incapable of treating him as a human being
Oh the irony
After Martin is dead
And they slice up his brains
And the guy (who incidentally has his own demons) carrying the tray of brains
Throws a work place tantrum
And slams Martins brains all over the floor
That’s a pretty fucked up thought. LOL
It’s refreshing to know that NBC Nightly News just said that Johnathan Martin is currently seeking treatment for his mental illness. I mean, I guess he wasn’t taken into custody after posting an extremely threatening message on his Instagram and forced to talk to police and mental professionals or anything… WOW. #FakeNews
I’m VERY happy this incident didn’t end in bloodshed. MAJOR PROPS to our Dolphins’ director of security Drew Brooks for informing the NFL after Martin’s Instagram post was posted, and to whoever then alerted the proper authorities in a very timely manner. And I hope Martin gets the help he needs before something like this occurs again… or worse.
WYOMING: YES, Nelson at #11 and Price at #42 WOULD please me (altho’ I’m a little underinformed on Mr. Price). PROBLEM IS neither may be available when Miami picks. AND, it’s unlikely Miami will be able to significantly bolster their O-Line through free agency, as Mike E. so intelligently explained in the above article. SAME OLD, SAME OLD, eh???
——————-
The thing that I’M MOST WORRIED ABOUT is the fact that T-BOMB and GRIER most likely will be doin’ the pickin’. IDIOT ROSS fails to understand the basic fact that WE NEED NEW, BETTER, PEOPLE RUNNING THIS DRAFT!!
——————
THE CURE?? Since Ross is reluctant to fire THESE PROVEN LOSERS, he should seek the advice of Bill Polian or some other PROVEN WINNER and tell T-Bomb and Grier THEY MUST go O-Line with 2 of the first three picks. This would include MOVING UP 4-6 spots, if necessary, to get Nelson who, I believe, is the top O-Lineman in the draft.
—————-
LAST SEASON I told you that if we did not successfully address our issues in the O-Line, we’d pay a brutal price at quarterback. WE DID!!! Tanny, Cutler and Moore all spent significant time on the injured list. This year actually COULD BE WORSE THAN LAST SEASON (despite an easier schedule) if we start the season with the same roster of mostly underperformers that we had in 2017. I REPEAT: SHITTY O-LINE=SHITTY SEASON.
—————
KEN: Glad to see you are recovering. Great to have you on the board.
Thank you OD it is going to be a a long road but happy to be here as well
I think Grier has done a good job so far. We have a lot of promising players drafted the last two years.
He’s got regenerative powers
https://twitter.com/Dolphins_TT/status/967043711480881153
He’s welcome to compete in TC and long as he doesn’t want too much $ as far as I’m concerned
He was cheap last year wasn’t he?
$3M, according to the article.
I assume so

Bro, you’ve accumulated nearly $40M in dead cap!!! That’s something Tannenbaum would do/did when he was with the stej!!!
Our OL might really benefit from drafting a guy like this
😆
Fuck Adam Beasley
I’m not sure Martin was making a threat, I think he was sending a message to specific people he felt bullied by, that this is how some people deal with it based on the recent shootings. Dumb thing to do for sure though.
he probably didn’t mean to threaten but I would assume anything these days
Time to move on
Move on from what? It was a current event today. I was actually lessening the story as not as bad as it looked.
I meant Jonathan Martin move on
Oh gotcha! He obviously still isn’t over it.
I know it’s probably mental illness I just don’t understand
But playing in the nfl and complaining about the way you were treated in high school?!?! Really?!?!
What happened????
Substance abuse.
Yeah that’s probably a big reason

In this day and age… and right off the heels of the Parkland school shooting, I’d certainly take that as a threat. And when ya think of Martin’s circumstances that led up to that (mental instability, attempted suicide 3 times), I’d take that as a threat… whether it be to himself or the others he mentioned.
Regardless and as you stated, dumb thing to do for sure.
I didn’t say don’t take it as a threat until you know more. I think he was saying this is what happens, Ritchie, Mike etc. He likely feels the shooters pain and why it gets to that point. Not the right way to put it out there though. It surely didn’t help him move on.
Lol @ the bust tribute today.
Can’t find any clips of Eric kunerow

I think Lou is writing off next season. Take the dead money and start again in 2019…..Phins would be an expansion team this year.
IF I’m not mistaking (I could be), that dead money rolls over to 2019. It wouldn’t affect us this year. And IF that’s the case, we’d be DOUBLE screwed!
Then I have no clue. Lol
lets all rub sand paper on our tongues to celebrate that idea
LMAO!!! Anyone for putting salt in their eyes?

My quick search says only if they are post June 1 cut, can you split dead money for next 2 years. I think dead money is counted on current year cap only otherwise. I could be wrong too. Lol
My guess is it’s only one year too – but that’s a guess without looking into it

It might have to do with the timing of the release as well (in-season vs off-season). I’m not quite sure. I DO know that there are loopholes when it comes to dead money.
