Ryan Fitzpatrick
Josh Rosen
Jake Rudock
So there you have it. 15 year veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick who is clearly the #1 choice as the starter at the moment, followed by 2 year veteran Josh Rosen who has played in all of 20 games starting 16 and doing so with a record of 3-13. Of course that record must be taken in context as he was playing for an awful team in Arizona for a HC that was fired after just one season. Jake Rudock was signed to a 1YR deal for $600K and he rounds out the depth chart.
Fitzpatrick had an uneven season, sitting behind Josh Rosen until the Fest game where Rosen was pulled and Fitzpatrick took over the reins for the rest of the season as the starter. He finished really strong, developing a strong relationship with WR DeVante Parker, who really grew in leaps in bound last season. I don’t want to ruin the upcoming WR article but the duo of Fitzpatrick and Parker from game #10-#16 totaled 39 receptions for 733 yards for a crazy 18.7 YPC and 5 TD’s. That’s a season for some guys right there. Mike Gesicki also had a very nice season and Fitzpatrick had a lot to do with that as well.
What to do with Josh Rosen? The best answer is probably nothing right now as his value couldn’t really be diminished any more than it already has so we just have to hope he has better things to show us. He needs to show a lot of improvement in camp and in the preseason and let him continue to build on that. There shouldn’t be any pressure for him regarding the starting job because if Ryan Fitzpatrick is healthy, he’s the QB, there is no uncertainty there. Of course if Rosen played out of his mind he may force a different outcome but no one really expects that to happen.
There are so many different ways to view the draft and the QB’S that may be available to us. My preference is to stay where we are and let the players fall as they will. I don’t want to trade multiple picks to get Burrow and I’d rather not trade multiple picks to get Tua, although the value to potentially get to #3 with Detroit shouldn’t cost more than our #5 and and our #39 pick. I could tolerate that, but the more I consider Justin Herbert or Jordan Love or even Jacob Eason or Jalen Hurts later on, as long as we have a solid foundation after free agency and the draft, I’d feel fine with any of those guys knowing none of them have the pressure to start this season. We can develop them and see what we’ve got and still be able to draft a QB next season providing we don’t trade away any future draft capital.
I’m excited for the draft, even if no one is there live, that doesn’t matter to me. All I care about is WHO we draft, not whether they hug the commissioner. It’s possible due to COVID-19 that free agency will be postponed, because part of the process is meeting team’s staffs and also checking out the neighborhoods, schools etc. If travel is limited or shut down completely, all that stuff can’t happen. I suppose they could do video conferencing but it can’t be the same as meeting a guy in person and of course seeing the sites around town and feeling the lifestyle of sunny Florida. I’m open to taking a QB early and I’m even more open to taking one later after we got some top OL and defensive players and maybe a RB. Next up is WR’s followed by TE’s.
GO DOLPHINS!!

My thought is Brady signs with the Bucs
You’re done for the day, go back to sleep😉
Nah, my place is quite open and I still have 8.5 hours left. 😦
You’ve used up your thought for the day.
Nailed it….OGBAH!!!!
Defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins on a 2-year deal worth $15M with $7.5M fully guaranteed, @RosenhausSports told ESPN.
Looks like we can look past DE/Edge early in the draft. Now, add DT Brown plus S McKinney and we have a stout defense.
What do you like about him?
I’m going to the beach to fish and relax. Got a private spot. No tourists. Didn’t get to go yesterday.
Take your gun, tell anyone that gets near your spot you practice social distancing and they should too.
Im waiting for the first case of someone claiming self defense for shooting a person because they suspect they have coronavirus. “Sir he coughed and was coming right for me!”
Good deal on Ogbah, i hope he gets back to college form with us.
Clayton Fejedelum i remember looking at as a S prospect for us his draft year. I think he is probably a better S prospect for us than Aikens, im not sure about how good a ST player he is but i have heard he is good. We all know how good Aikens is. Maybe we retain Aikens as well, that would be two awesome ST’ers.
DEFENSE!
Wow, best football news I’ve heard in two decades.
ahh man. Son just felt a tingle in the force. Newton on the move. (not here thank goodness)
So far this offseason is going pretty well
I loved Ogbah when he was at Oklahoma State
The guy can play
I love this signing to go along with Van Noy and Lawson and Jones
We really build that defense up
Minkah is a schmuck
Ogbah is my favorite DE acquisition. He will get his sacks this year.
Id love to see Brady on the Bucs and Rivers with the Colts. Arians has been pretty successful making potent offenses and Brady would be gone from the AFC completely. I’d just like to see Rivers have some success before he has his 33rd kid.
So, Ogbah on basically a one year deal. Gives us a chance to see if he has or can fully recover from his torn pectoral. Torn pectorals can be a bitch to fully recover from. If he does, this kid is another potentially disruptive DLman who you can move around a little bit. It certainly looks like we are going for a rotational pass rush. Now, watch them move up in the draft and take Young. Lol
***
Of course, Epenesa fits if you’re rotating guys. Go Hawkeyes! 🙂
Or stay at 5 and take Derrick Brown
How do you sell, We just swapped Cam Newton for Teddy Bridgewater?
Emmanuel Ogbah is 26. They are setting this team up young….. as they should.
i think we can now rule out Okudah @5
Steve,
In this particular D I like that Ogbah can set a strong edge and can legitimately free up others when we run stunts and blitzes. He’s not a Cam Wake type of player, but this D requires physical versatile DE’s more so than the blur rush end. Him and Lawson really strengthen not only the DL, but will make our LB’s better.
In this defense they are looking for hybrids, they want 3-4 DE/4-3 DT hybrids, 3-4 NT/4-3 DT prospects and 4-3 DE/3-4 OLB prospects. Ogbah will be the DE/DE hybrid, and he likely will be bulls-rushing to crash the pocket with an OLB pass-rushing on his side so the OLB has more direct line to the QB. Same for Taco, and Jenkins. Van Noy, Biegel, Van Ginkle, Equavon, will be the DE/OLBs, Baker, McMillian and Harris will flex in and out at LB. Our front 7 formations will be really fluid i think.

What if TB signs TB and Jameis gets famous by using his new eye surgery to see Bellichick and take NE to the playoffs as the wild card as Miami wins the AFCEast?
What if Indy signs Rivers and NE trades for Brissett?
i wouldn’t be surprised if we picked up wake.
Do a sign and retire deal!
Then put him in the Ring!
exactly
14 teams will make the playoffs this year with only the #1 seed having a bye.
If we get 5-6 sacks each from Ogbah, Lawson and Van Noy that will be a headache for any team
Sprinkle in some of the guys we had last year and that will be a good pass rush
And I’m not so sure we don’t take another versatile guy like a Chaisson with one of those picks

Would you take a shot at a title this year or next at the expense of the rebuild?
_______________________________________
I think every team is rebuilding and every team is taking a shot at the title this year, maybe with the exception of cincy.
taking a shot at the title and rebuilding this year go hand in hand for miami, i think they are now pinning their ears back and going for broke.
Flores can not afford another losing season, it will diminish his brand
I think 7-9 and Flores is looking like rebuild on track.
At 8-8 he’s looking real smart.
At 9-7 they are talking about him as coach of the year.

Replace Tua with Derrick Brown! Why is everyone forgetting that? LOL Really good otherwise. 😉
very happy we signed Ogbah instead of Clowney.
Like the Emmanuel Ogbah signing and this FA in general. Flores as a defensive coach has to have a good defense. Not saying we won’t draft any defense because we have the picks to draft a lot of positions. But stocking up on defense in FA is starting to shape the draft up for QB, OL and RB.
Of all the signings
What I think is interesting is there is only one that is a 5 year deal
Ogbah is a 2 year deal
Flowers and LAwson are 3 year deals
If they don’t work out over the next 2 years, we won’t be scrambling to trade them or eat some of their salary. These signings don’t hurt us long term
It’s set up to compete now and transition in young players along the way. I think this defense takes a big step with the guys we added. We’re going to be an aggressive and unpredictable defense. Lots of different looks, stunts and blitzes with two corners who can play press man.
I see the Panthers have finally figured out what most of us have known for a while:

3) trade DeAndre Hopkins

Looks like we have a projected 22 sack DE 😉
Miami Dolphins defensive FA signings continue with Emmanuel Ogbah
by Brian Miller6m ago
The Miami Dolphins are continuing their defensive heavy free agency signing former Chiefs defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah.
Emmanuel Ogbah is joining the Miami Dolphins new-look defense as the Miami Dolphins have agreed to a contract with the free agent. He will join Bryon Jones and Kyle Van Noy as the new faces on the defensive side of the ball.
It looks as though the Dolphins are far from done though.
Dolphins’ extreme defensive makeover continues with addition of DE Emmanuel Ogbah https://t.co/Y6fwSU3wwQ
— Adam Beasley (@AdamHBeasley) March 17, 2020
Ogbah looked really well last year for the Chiefs. In fact, had he not been injured, he may have ended with a career year. Drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, Ogbah spent three seasons with the Browns before joining K.C. last year. He played in only four games for the Chiefs but had three passes defensed, one forced fumble, and 5.5 sacks which is impressive given the number of games he appeared in.
More fake news, it seems he started 4 games, but played in 10, so big difference on the sack numbers.
Wow Robert Quinn just go paid by Chicago.
Rb has been quiet. I wonder if gordons price tag will drop?
OTA.S will be delayed due to the virus
BBMike, if we draft Derrick Brown our defense will be sick.
Hmm im thinking Cam Newton is cut if the trade doesnt happen and he might have blown the chance to be traded out of the water saying that the Panthers want the trade not him.
Teddy B i bet winds up with the Panthers, has a connection to OC Brady, makes for a potential good fit i think. May be why he didn’t accept any other offers too because several teams were trying to get him supposedly.
Leonard Floyd just got cut. Id be willing to bring him in, no risk there.
It’s crazy to see talent like that get lost in the shuffle and cut

protoype for a set the edge and run-stop on the way to hitting the QB DE
Does greir & co think ot will be easier to shore up the OL via the draft?
It’s a good draft for OT and there is some depth at other positions on the OL. That said FA isn’t over, in fact it hasn’t officially started. LOL
We need at least 2 more, maybe 3. But I’d be cool at this point with 3 of our top 5 picks being big uglies. Even if would like to sign one before.
Rivers to Colts and Bridgewater to Panthers. My guess is Cam being cut is coming soon. Dont blow your load Sonny, it aint happening.
So did the bears cut Floyd to sign Quinn?
I really don’t understand moves like that
yeah it seems weird.
We should get him if we have $
we still have close to 50mil in money i think.
Timing is everything. Quinn had a real good year in Dallas and Floyd has been less impactful in recent years with Chicago.
My guess is Karras is going to be a guy we bring in at OC, or maybe Skura, we supposedly have been in on both. Skura has a RFA, but he was a UDFA, so its just about the matching rights that might be keeping us from making that move right now. I dunno if we are after an OT, i havent heard of any of the ones left being on our radar. There arent really a bunch of good ones left in FA though. Might be some after draft cuts, but by then we may have also filled those spots.
The draft is loaded @ OT.
I hope we get one in the first.
Also DeAndre Swift.
But the FO seems to prefer Dobbins?
We still need a safety and a TE.
With this much work done in FA,
we have the draft capital to get the best TE in the draft
and a great top 3 RB and a great top 3 Safety.
(even assuming we “waste” a pick on a QB)
FA ain’t over yet…… hasn’t even started. 🙂
Not saying big names, but holes will be filled.
And then there is the draft (which yeah will include at least one OT).
Teddy to Panthers as new owner cleans house.
Floyd is a double team eating DT right?
I am not sure he is still trying hard though.
No he’s a lean edge guy like JT.
He reminds me a lot of Jason Taylor
Thats actually the same comparison i have for him
Your Picks:

Round 2 Pick 24: DAndre Swift, RB, Georgia (A+)
Round 3 Pick 6: Lucas Niang, OT, TCU (A-)
Round 4 Pick 35 (COMP): Jon Runyan, OG, Michigan (A+
That would be awesome
Wow man, just killing it on defense. I can’t wait to see all these guys out there! Frees us up to go heavy on O, OL, RB, TE. We do need another TE despite the fact that this is a weak class.
It’s just such a weak class, I think we can afford to wait until day 3 to take a development guy at TE
Id pick up a guy in FA, like Ebron, or maybe a older vet to help the nublets learn, like Witten.
LOL @ nublets
Remember we did sign TE Michael Roberts (2017 4th rd pick – Lions) who the Pats tried to trade for in 2019 but a shoulder injury nixed the deal and the Lions eventually released him. He’s a big TE 6-5 265 who is known as a blocker. Hasn’t been much of a receiver but he did have 3 red zone TDs with DET in 2018.
Naples
What makes you think we like Dobbins?
We brought him in on a 30 visit.
yep and he made some “knowledgeable” comments about what our coaches want.
Stanger.. Vegas was very subdued, and by the time we left was very uncrowded.. MGM, Mandalay Bay and a few others were closing down.. we did get a couple shows in.. Criss Angel Cancelled the night after we saw him..
YES WE are killing it on D so far… this is fun…
still would like to see a few OL signed tho’
We can draft the fuck out of OL. lol
Sounds like wasn’t exactly Hangover 5. And sorta of glad about that. But did you meet Mike Tyson’s Tiger? 🙂
I meat a stripper named Stripes … does that count ?? 🙂
LOL — did she like you? Cause of my charisma and good looks strippers always loved me. I was that cool 🙂
you’ve met me ??
LOL — just never met a stripper that didn’t love any dude’s wallet.
kewl
Tim – I forgot we picked up Roberts. It’s a weak class so I’d prefer not to draft one so that just gives us another pick for a safety or CB or whatever really
Yeah and we have 5 TEs on the roster and Gesicki emerging like the player we thought he’d be. Not saying we won’t bring in another one but I don’t see TE as a big need.
I’m thinking he’s the blocking TE to push and/or replace Smythe.
But we still need a pass catching RAC seam buster type TE to give slow LBs fits and sub for Gesicki as needed.
I think in the offense we want to run, you need 4 TEs active or at least on the “53” or whatever the number is now.
You’re getting greedy, Naples. We didn’t have a RAC seam buster type TE until we drafted Gesicki. He had a slow start but really started to emerge as just that in the 2nd half of last year. Now you want two of them. LOL
On Floyd, how does a guy who’s playing 84% of the snaps on D have only 40 tackles and 3 sacks?
That’s why I thought he was an interior DT.
Those numbers are anemic for an edge guy.
Know have been on this theme, but becoming even more clear.
Byron Jones – 27
Emmanuel Ogbah – 26
Kyle Van Noy – 28
Ereck Flowers – 25
Shaq Lawson – 25
Clayton Fejedelem – 26
Man.. to be that age again with what you know now.
When’s the last time you closed out a bar? Smart not to do it…. but you could.
Drafted by NE in 2016
Connections matter and Flores is big on STs.
Tim, I am really stuck of the idea of adding Brown to the DL. That would be sick! We can still get a very good OT at 18 or even move up for the one we want.
The focus on defense may be a sign that’s where we want to get really good first. Brown may not even fall to #5. But if he is there and we haven’t traded up for a QB, or the QB we like isn’t there, he’d definitely be in the discussion.
I could see us taking the BPA at #5 and drafting a QB later. Maybe even trading up from #18 to do so which we have the picks to do.
They brought LB Kamu Grugier Hill in to be back up kicker.
Here comes the power back, ORob.
Nice!
Stanger, the last two potential signings in Grugier Hill and Howard are also 25 years old keeping with that age group. 🙂
Geez NFLN, I know it’s Brady but how many different ways can you discuss he’s not coming back to NE. Take a break and revisit it when he signs with a new team.
No shit !! Getting old with this Brady crap.
They should just have Tommy pose topless and end all doubt about themselves.
anybody know the best tablet to buy since i must work from home now?
If we trade for Jordan Howard which I think will be our 4th or one of our 5th rd picks, the 4th basically being a 5th as a comp pick, I see Clyde Edwards-Helaire as a target in the draft as the change of pace/3rd down back.
If we trade?
Dolphins were searching for a veteran RB to help what was the NFL’s worst rushing attack. They found one part of that answer in former Eagles RB Jordan Howard — a bruising back who has been productive when he’s healthy — on a two-year deal. Miami is still expected to target a RB in the first three rounds of the draft with J.K. Dobbins, Jonathan Taylor, Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Zach Moss drawing strong early interest.
Is it a done deal?
Tim,
Yes Howard signed a 2yr deal for $10 million. No trade as he was a FA.
Brady to miami?
… but I have muscle memory that makes me cheer for him getting clobbered on every snap.
Steve, I see what you mean by if we trade? I was going by this. But he should be a FA after being a 2016 5th rd pick.
I didn’t know if the Eagles had signed him to an extension. Just confusion on how it was worded. Even better! 🙂
When healthy he’s a very good downhill RB.
Is first 2 years in the nfl were very good
He had limited opportunities last year but was effective
Being second string to a rookie high draft pick will keep him healthy and fresh and extend his career at least by 2 years.
When drunk I’m the smartest person I know 😆
I really do not want Brady to come to Miami.
Fitzmagic is so much more fun and / or a rookie is so much more fresh.
Brady is stodgy and stale.
If you consider the afc west is very competitive. For brady to go to the charhers and have to play mahomes twice a year? With what the bolts have. It is very unlikely that he can win that division. Tampa has a tough division as well with brees and the saints. Miami in the east what better division is out there? He teams with flores who he already knows. The pats look to be rebuilding and buffalo is so.so . miami makes a lot of sense for brady if miami is intetested
Grugier-Hill, played in 10 games last year for the Eagles and started 6 of those. He is 25 years old and was a 6th roudn pick by the Patriots in 2016. He has played with Brian Flores before and spent time with him there in New England. During his time in the NFL he has 2 forced fumbles, 1 INT, and 98 total tackles, 23 of which came in 2019
Time to revisit a classic
I’m not sure what inspired me to compare him to viagra
Ogbah was a QB tombstone
Lawson was a buzzsaw
We are already a much better team and we haven’t drafted yet. Is it okay if I say we’re killing it, or does that make me an out of town homer? LOL
We’re a team now other than on the OL.
Plenty of time and resources.
Don’t forget “out of touch” to go along with being out of town…LOL
LOL
Phillip Rivers to the Colts on a one year deal.
A top defensive player is definitely in the mix in the draft, but we are setting this draft up via FA to go heavy at QB, OL and a young RB.
I wonder if we ended up taking two tackles in the first
This is why I’ve always said let’s see what we do in FA first. But with our draft capital, we basically have two drafts in 2020 and three 1st round picks which is rare. We have so many options. I just wish Ross wouldn’t be so cheap. 😉
What does that mean Tim (Ross being cheap)?
I missed the little tiny wink.
Thats what she said.
Thanks for posting those scouting reports!
Revisiting the comments section is priceless!
LOL @ Steve on Ross.
Tim – I swear that Charlie Weis was practically crying this morning when he was talking with Bob Papa on the opening drive this morning discussing Tom Brady leaving the Patriots. It was pathetic!
Boo hoo!!! LOL
Have the Jets done anything?

On Floyd, how does a guy who’s playing 84% of the snaps on D have only 40 tackles and 3 sacks?
——————————————————–
I think he played hurt last year. Look at the rest of his seasons though.
Kind of meh and I liked him as a prospect.
Yeah if we could get him on a low risk signing id be on it, im not overly pushing the move i just know the guys has good talent, and he is kinda what we have been signing, young guys, some of which are either looking to bounce back or are bouncing back.
It’s pretty much on par with what he did the rest of his career.
So let me get this straight. We now have a defense and the best QB in the division is now Ryan Fitzpatrick?
I lean more to Josh Allen is the best QB in the division,
Allen definitely has more upside and I definitely would pick him as the guy to build around but if I wanted to win one game I would pick Fitz
5 TD fitz would get it for ya, but 5 Int Fitz wouldnt lol, i love the guy, i wanted him here as soon as we got rid of Tanny, he was the guy even before Tanny was gone i was saying we could replace Tanny with, still that inconsistency is crazy. I mean if he was more consistent he’d probably be an all pro, potential HoF’er
I know D I was actually very skeptical about Fitz because of his inconsistency but he was on fire the second half of the season. That Fitz could lead a contender
D, Floyd kind of reminds me of Charlton. Another opportunity. I thought Charlton responded well with us last year. He was active as a rotational player. The additions of Lawson and Ogbah push everyone else down but the depth and competition just went up. It’s not going to be easy to make this team as an edge guy this year whether more DE or more OLB. Only so many spots for those positions – what maybe 6?
Bah, one of my hopes for the TE room just signed for the Raiders. Witten would have been huge for that room imo.
Some people chew gum.
Jordan Phillips, DT: Signing with the Cardinals on a three-year contract, per Rapoport.
good riddance. We might never seee him again after this year.
He was with the Bills and actually played well for them.
This is all the Jets have done so far. No one wants to play for Gase. LOL
New York Jets
Biggest remaining needs: OL, edge rusher, CB
George Fant, T: Agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth 27.3 million with a max value of $30 million, per Rapoport.

Bah, one of my hopes for the TE room just signed for the Raiders. Witten would have been huge for that room imo.

So Lions signed Chase Daniel,
so we prob do not need to worry about them drafting a QB in the first, right?
They are not drafting a QB
The way we’re building this defense, Josh Allen is not going to run all over us anymore.
Whatever the formation is we use, the big scheme of our defense is 8 in the box and 2 press man corners and a single high safety. We know where they want to go with the ball because we’re making them do that. That’s what Belichick does. Force everything inside where there is more of a mosh and opportunities for mistakes. Outside isolated plays are easy. What if you make it not easy? 🙂
Brilliant post.
The Patriot Way.
Make your opponent sweat every yard..
I had a high school coach whose thing to say as he sent us on the floor was
“OK Men, make ’em hate basketball.”
His philosophy on defense was “pretend you are on offense and think of your favorite shot or play. Then think of your worst nightmare happening there. Be that nightmare.”
Thanks and good stuff! We already know Flores will fake punt, onside kick, send the kitchen sink, punter throws a TD to the kicker etc….. LOL
If Redskins get Cam which is likely they are not drafting a QB
True and true
This strange realigning of QBs is helping us out on draft day.
Indy might pick one, but maybe not so desperate now.
They might be sucking for Luck again.

As we all start to work from home in the face of this crisis and lean of technology for video conferencing and phone conferencing.
Please remember, even though you are home and in a comfortable setting
Don’t fart!
They can hear you. Your coworkers and colleagues will never forget if you fart.
If you have such a transgression, blame it on a bullfrog on a Harley.
