What will the 2021 Miami Dolphins Special Teams look like?

Gone is P Matt Haack. The Dolphins signed the former Carolina Panthers punter Michael Palardy instead of re-signing the steady Matt Haack. Palardy has a higher average per punt than Haack at 46.0 compared to the 44.7 Haack had as Dolphins punter. The important guy who is returning is All Pro kicker Jason Sanders. Sanders had a fantastic season converting 36 of 39 FG tries. His kickoffs were nearly always touchbacks. MIchael Palardy has a big leg so we’ll see if we improve our field position with him booming the ball.

Jakeem Grant shared return duties last year with rookies WR Malcolm Perry and DB Noah Igbinoghene. Grant was electric, but you held your breath until he actually cradled the ball when receiving the punt or kickoff. This year I believe Jaylen Waddle will be incorporated into the game and may even make Jakeem Grant expendable. Time will tell on that one. Waddle is so explosive in his own right and I would imagine he’s a lot more sure handed than Grant has been. Still, Jakeem Grant may stick here just because of his electric punt return ability, he averaged 11.4 yards on his punt returns last season. I do believe Waddle will challenge here and Malcolm Perry may also.

Blake Ferguson returns as the long snapper after a fine rookie season. I don’t recall any Ferguson miscues last season so I’ll leave it that he did his job well. The big questions going forward is can Jason Sanders follow up hos All Pro season with another? Who will be the primary return man and if it’s rookie Jaylen Waddle, does Jakeem Grant make the cut? Also, if Jaylen Waddle is the primary return man, do they scale back his work at WR? It’s a lot to ask from a rookie because they have double work, but I would hope Waddle is up to task. Personally, I hope Waddle is part of our return game, I can’t wait to see that. Will new punter Michael Palardy help our field position battle? Haack was unspectacular last season but I thought he did a good job here. Obviously the Dolphins were looking for better and hopefully that’s what we get from Palardy.

The Xavien Howard holdout may affect DB Noah Igbinoghene the most. If he’s the guy that will be counted on to replace Howard, I’d almost guarantee his days as a return man are done for at least this season. He will be working hard to be up to snuff filling some tremendous shoes if the Dolphins can’t work things out with Xavien Howard. This is a huge issue to keep an eye on. You don’t replace 10 INT’s and in general shut down coverage easily and we all saw Iggy struggle last season. I don’t doubt Iggy will be better, but it’s a lot to step in for arguably one of the best corners in the NFL. We’ll see what happens on that front.

Jonathan Ledbetter shows on the active/current roster. He’s like a resurrection, he made the team as an undrafted rookie then all of his injuries piled up with a return to form he’s as viable as anyone to make it. Again. I hope he does make it, he’s crowded in amongst Beigle and Van Dyke among many others.

X has more value than Deshaun does at this point. Plus that deal puts us directly in a QB cluster fuck with Tua still here.

I can understand both sides of the equation, but it’s a damn shame it’s going down like this. As I stated last week, it comes down to X’s knees. He just wants to maximize his $$$ before his knees go out (probably sooner than later), and the Phins just want him to honor the contract he signed in good faith.

Sensing a divorce is highly likely…

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

And yes, that contract (extension) X signed in good faith made him the #1 paid CB in the NFL at the time, just a very short time ago.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

If Howard is a total stud why should signing Jones and drafting Iggy bother him at all? No one is taking his position and he had just signed a multi-year contract.

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

I think it comes down to $$$, Stanger. Meaning, X was by far the best CB in the NFL last year (probably should have been named the NFL DPOY), and the guy opposite him (Byron Jones) barely even registered on the stat sheet… and Byron’s making more $$$ than X.

    ——————
I don’t know about that, man. Here’s the bigger question: should we trade X, how much DEAD $$$ do we swallow?

I posted something from OverTheCap.com earlier in the week, that stated we’d eat ZERO DEAD $$$. But some of our other bloggers stated that it’s not true… I’m trying to get to the bottom of it as we speak.

IF we were to eat X’s $16.3M in dead cap by trading him, not sure he’s going anywhere, ya know?

    • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

We may be looking at a total holdout by X — contingent upon how his contract was written — while avoiding the $16.3M in dead cap. We’ll see…

    • bailbondmike's avatar bailbondmike says:

I always thought when a player is traded, any base salary left on the contract transfers to the new team. That should include any guaranteed money base salary. Only thing we would be on the hook for is any bonuses not yet paid.

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

That’s exactly what I thought, too, but apparently, some think it’s otherwise… and they may be correct. I suppose it’s how the contract was written, for one.

  17. Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Some of y’all are going to disagree with me, some of y’all are going to agree with me… but I maintain…

    — I think it’s only a question of WHEN X’s knee(s) go out
    — If he won’t honor his 5-year extension, so be it… “Jedi”
    — We cut him down to a 3-year extension, and we’ll make him the highest paid CB in the league… beating his knees going out after 4 or 5 years
    — We can easily afford this by making cuts that are naturally going to come

We’re better off WITH X, and X is better off with US. We’re going to “alter the deal” (Vader reference) from 5 years to 3 years (knees). If all he cares about is $$$ (Leia to Han), he’ll get paid as the top-CB in the NFL (front-loaded) while he still has knees… making it easier to cut him in year 3 if his knees go out earlier than anticipated.

X will be happy, we will be happy, and we get out of a really BAD 5-year deal what with X’s knees. What’s more? We’ve already drafted his replacement in Iggy.

    Ahem… WINNING!

New Age, I think you’re only like the 2nd person I’ve ever met that has even heard of that series. It has such a great magic system, and Tarrant is an amazing character. We have some readers on this board.

  33. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Krishna, yep, lol, it’s a brutal introduction. Very similar to Wheel of Time when Lews Therin destroys everyone he loves, although instead madness, Tarrant is very calculated in his actions.

The best part of the series besides learning the mechanics of the world and it’s magic (it’s not earth) is the unfolding of how and why Tarrant did what he did. He was prophet of the dominant religion, a loving father and husband, etc. And he starts the series committing that unspeakable act.

  34. stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

X has a new agent, David Canter. Can only assume part of Canter’s pitch was “I will get you more money.” Canter was also Howard’s third agent in three years (not so easy to please on agent stuff). Combined with that interview M13 put out yesterday….. those are some ingredients for some hardball tactics by his side.

I could see it getting ugly or, on the flip side, over quick. Don’t think Flores and Grier will let it turn into a Le’Veon Bell.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Bell’s situation was pretty different. He wasn’t under contract, and the Steelers were franchising him, so by not signing the tender and sitting out, it gave him his freedom. We have X under contract for 4 years, so sitting out a year doesn’t get him anywhere.

Of course no team wants that kind of distraction, nor do we want our best player sitting out the season so no doubt we want it resolved.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Bell only had to sit out one year, but he was still sitting cause wanted more money. Yeah I see similarities if Howard does. But like said, don’t think it comes to that. He gets more money or is traded by opening day is my prediction. What don’t think is he grumbles and comes back.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

The difference is if Howard sits, he’s in the exact same position next year. So if we haven’t reworked his deal or traded him by opening day, I don’t see him sitting out the year.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

If Howard begins a holdout, just don’t see the Phins putting up with it if what they feel a reasonable offer is rejected…… and especially not if in the news and Ross is involved. Think they trade him.

    he’ll play
    ———————————

I’m still hoping this is amicably resolved by making him the highest paid on the team at around 17 mil, but we can play hardball with him because we hold all the leverage, so you may be right.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

What leverage did Minkah have? Seems that is the comparison with this regime.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Minkah didn’t have any leverage, but we had a new coach trying to install a new system and get things started. He also wasn’t an established talent. That may have played into just recycling a 1st for Minkah and getting a distraction out of the locker room.

We are in an entirely different place now, but we’ll see, the team may still treat it the same way and trade Howard rather than play hardball. Part of that is having a trade partner though.

If Howard says he wants 21 mil, and we can’t find anyone who is willing to give up two 1sts and give him that contract…say we only get a single 1st as an offer, do we make that trade or do we play hardball? It may not be as simple as ‘we’re taking this approach’

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Started with saying David Canter and X seem ready to play hardball. Still my impression. To my mind means thing could get ugly. We’ll see.

FYI, I’d just get the 1st book to make sure you dig the writing and story. The story can be a bit bloated at times, but the world building, magic and characters (especially Tarrant) make it for me.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

‘Nothing like it’ is a good description. It has some standard trope elements, but the story itself is pretty unique. I can’t think of anything I would compare it to.

There is an old Roger Corman movie called Galaxy of Terror that has a sort of ‘fae producing monsters from the darkness of the human mind’ element to it, but the comparison ends there.

I was allowed to watch horror, but nothing with sex, and Galaxy of Terror was horror that I know now was too much for my age (it’s a Corman movie which says it all, lol).

I persisted and around the same time, we got our first VCR, a betamax, lol. So my dad relented and recorded the movie, and deleted the sex scenes so I could watch it. —————-
I hadn’t thought about it like that, but you bring up a very strong point, Ken! Just tax the crap out of it — like they do cigarettes — and perhaps we can put a mere dent in the debt.

But in the interim, peeps need to be thinking about what’s going on with fentanyl-laced shit.

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Exactly my point, but only marijuana. I despise the thought of legalizing it.. but we have to be honest, that people are going to do it regardless if it’s illegal. And quite honestly, it helps a great many people, so long as it’s not the precursor to harder illicit substances.

I’m with Rand Paul: legalize it, then tax the shit out of it.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

If you’re going to legalize, then the penalty for the illegal pot should be substantial or why bother?

They bother, because the politicians want the kickbacks, they don’t give a fuck about the users.

And if you’re going to do that just legalize everything.

First offense any drug 1 year in prison, 2nd offense 2 years, 3rd offense life.

Just make it the federal law, with these penalties and quit fucking around

  43. Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

    Ken,

I also don’t want to be TOO ‘knee-jerk’ about legalizing Mary Jane, before we get to the bottom of who, what, when, where, why, or how this fentanyl-laced shit is being distributed. Let’s not turn a blind-eye to where it’s coming from and the reasons why.

We need to shut that down, fast, and hard.

    • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Seems a lot of it is going on in Florida, in particular.

That’s why legalized MJ would help because you can control the standards and purity. You have to have a license to grow and dispense. You are subject to regulatory oversight. No more lacing it with fentanyl

  49. Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

I think it will be better (read safer) when each state opens up their own dispensaries. Illegal sales are here to stay, they always will be, but for those who choose wisely, they will know they are getting a safer product. Alcohol is legal and booming but people still make their own moonshine. If marijuana is a gateway drug then so is alcohol.

  50. black market marijuana is tax free , and the dispensaries are currently also

but dispensary prices are already exceeding black market prices

dealers dont lace their drugs with MORE expensive drugs,

its more common to do what they refer to as stepping on it, or cutting it with cheap fillers for additional profit

fillers can be anything, but its always cheap, cheapening the purity is the goal of lacing drugs

  54. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

There’s still some tinkering to be done with the salary cap, besides signing our 2nd and 3rd round picks and X…, we still haven’t redone McKinney, that was reported to be in the works.

Have no idea what’s going to happen with X, just putting out there what they can do.

We also have some players, that currently count against the top 51, that won’t make the team and will be replaced by lower salaries.

WR is one of those positions, but not a huge amount of savings, since we’ll have to add 2 players making it final 53 and practice squad.

Wasn’t your life always the risk? Len Bias

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Coke has always been a riskier drug than say MJ, but there is still an element of personal judgement that goes into it. In the past, it could still be laced with something that can mess you up such as angel dust, or if you get some high quality stuff and you’re used to getting stuff that is so stepped on, that you don’t realize what you’re doing. But, just like anything, you can be cautious or reckless which can increase or minimize risks.

In my experience it’s a relatively low risk if you know what you are doing. You can die of alcohol poisoning too, but the average user doesn’t have to worry about that- don’t chug a liter of tequila nonstop, and the risk is minimal.

Fentanyl is a different monster. Dealers can step on their product and lace with fentanyl to still make it effective for the user, but one miscalculation and it becomes deadly. And to my understanding, there isn’t much in the way of precaution a user can take to minimize the risk that a single use can kill you.

So now that fentanyl has become an issue, for me caution means stopping entirely.

They do lace their drugs with more expensive ones and then they charge more for the laced ones. People want it that way they will sell it that way.

Also they don’t cut it with that shit, they cut it with stimulants to intensify the drug. Cuts the product but people feel like they are getting a really great high from it. Caffeine is a big cutting agent, but also stuff like aspirin to open up the veins and let it hit home harder, or legal amphetamines, ephedra, etc.

    A few myths that never seem to go away;

    * This isn’t the first time MJ has been laced with something potentially lethal and is not the first time. Every generation goes through MJ being laced.
——Im not sure the point here, because the argument is that its dangerous because it is laced. You are right this has been true and it also has been fact, and it always has been more dangerous. Unless you know the person you are getting it from, its possible you can get back shit and it can fuck you up permanently.

    * MJ is a gateway drug. Bullshit and NO studies have ever shown that. Fear mongering.
——-Most people start off by whats most accessible with as little threat to getting caught with it. Weed is most peoples first drug because of that. Now does that lead to them wanting to do others, maybe, maybe not, id say it does in some cases and not in others, but since its the “gateway” into using drug, a lot of times for self therapy/self medication, there is a link to it starting people down the wrong road, and for some people that next stop is something that can get them even more high. If you ask me its just as much a fallacy that it isn’t as it is, it goes both ways.

    * Expensive? I guess that’s relative. Access to a greater amount and quality and haven’t seen in an increase in price in 20 years.
——–No argument here, cheaper and longer lasting that most “legal” forms of altering your state of being.

    * It’s about the kids. More bullshit. Stop feeding your kids sugar and processed food, and then trying to control them with Adderall. All perfectly legal ways to fuck them up.
——–Kids do not have fear of death or injury, not as conscious of it at least as adults. At their level of comprehension drugs are more dangerous and therefore it is about the kids. They live in the here and now and the here and now is fun being high, they don’t see the potential long term effects. Its not fair to categorize it as not being dangerous to kids, because it most certainly is and its more so than to adults. They also are specifically the targets fro dealers because getting them young makes the dealer more money over the years.

    * Only a minority of the country support legalization. Foul again. 37 states and overe 60% (Republicans, too) of Americans believe it should be legal for recreational and medicinal uses. TX is one of few states that only permit growing and distribution.
——Have not really researched it to know the numbers, im guessing you dont have supporting info either, but i wont argue something i cant prove or disprove.

    * All does is get “stoners” high. More bullshit. A list of medicinal benefits is exhausting. Even the Mayo Clinc uses for medical cases and prescribes it when appropriate. I witnessed the benefits it had on Mrs. K during here 2 year chemo experience.
———Medical benefits are not accurate, it does significantly help with symptoms, specifically those that cause anxiety, or nausea, etc but in general its not a health benefit. You arent getting beneficial nutrients, you aren’t getting beneficial chemicals that like improve immunity etc. What you do get is a drug that relaxes you, takes away stresses and anxieties for however long they are effective. It can help emotionally, it can help in situations when appetite needs stimulation, etc, but this is not “beneficial” its therapeutic.

    * It’s a weed and worthless except to stoners”. I buy as many products as I can to support the cause, i.e. water sealer for my deck, clothes, deoderant, shaving cream, etc. It’s uses are numerous and it’s organic and sustainable.
———-Thats hemp and hemp oils, not the drug. Big difference. The THC laden parts are not the parts used for other products. There are beneficial parts to the plant its true but the bud isnt used for anything but getting high.

Just a few notes off the top of my head to stop the “crazy.”
    —————————————————————————————————-
Even though im refuting most your post, i don’t care about weed legalization. I have smoked it, i wasn’t one of the gateway people but that’s also because my personality isnt addictive by nature. I get bored faster than i could get addicted lol (Thank you ADHD). If they approve legalization im going to use it the same amount i currently do which is none, because 1) my company doesn’t allow for it and they wont even if the state makes it legal and 2) i just dont have the time or lifestyle to fit it in right now. Just like with anything your assertions and the ones to the contrary both have merit given the circumstance. There is no blanket statement that can be made about all of these items that truly covers the right and wrong of it.

  63. D's avatar D says:

The Len Bias situation was an underlying health condition that didn’t mesh well with something like coke. Point i think that’s being made about it, is that its kind of Russian roulette, and people who do drug should really go into it knowing (and preferable at a mature mental level) that this may be the last does they ever take. Everyone’s body will react differently to different drugs, so you legalize it, accept the consequences if a family member dies of an overdose, because wanting it legal is asking for those results in a portion of those that would use it.

Now should it be legal to allow them to make this decision without restrictions, i don’t think so but you aren’t going to stop them. If you legalize a drug for ages 25 and up do you think it stops the 25 and under from getting it illegally? nope. That’s also proof that no matter the taxation or legal status, you aren’t shutting down the illegal drugs, its too deep rooted. Only stopping of kids using it to raise them the right way and to know the truth and hopefully they will make the right decision and if they don’t prayer that they survive the experience. Again though, i base most of my thoughts on should it be legal is on my kids safety, and i see the argument on either side, but for me, my children are the reason it shouldn’t be legal, because its harder to convince them to not risk their lives on drugs when its also illegal than when they will be sitting there going, but its legal Dad, they wouldn’t make something legal that could really hurt me.

  64. D's avatar D says:

Best part of the legalization argument is cleaner sources for products. With that i wholly agree, and if my kids were going to do drugs i would hope it was from a clean source with less inherent risk of something bad happening.

Absolutely true and means they are giving these athletes something worth a lot of money cause can play a sport that generates money for the school, which often lets them in when otherwise would not.

Not saying want it, just looking at it from the legal end. NFL has various restrictions but they are set by the CBA with the Player’s Union. Nothing like that with NCAA. So only way see legal is if the NCAA is exempt from anti-trust laws. And in the case today the high court indicated no it is not.

So see this as the first of a bunch of suits. Congress could pass a law though.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

But there are similarities between CBA and NCAA rules and regs. There are limits to practice and requirements to provide certain facilities and the like.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Yes there are but the college athletes don’t have a union, and thus weren’t represented. And NCAA is dictating their right to take money. From their school, from boosters, from endorsement companies and from agents. Did they agree to that? Guess argument would be they did by taking the scholarship (something of worth) but what if that hot stud power forward pays his own way?

LOL, from the article I posted above.

“Over a 10-year-period, some 25.3 million customers lost power in the Sunshine State, versus 22.2 million Californians and 18.3 million New Yorkers, the study found.”

“It’s worth noting Florida, unsurprisingly, was highlighted for having the weirdest reason for a power outage, that is, zombies. The fake alert, which came out of Lake Worth in May 2018, was mentioned in the report. If you all recall, the viral text said “extreme zombie activity” left around 7,880 customers without power.”

The difference is when FL loses power vs when CA does.

Does anyone in FL not expect to have the power shut off when a hurricane comes in?

Can’t say the same about CA residents when their power goes out and the reasons behind it

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

        You mean like wild fires?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

As I stated above, there have been rolling blackouts in CA during peak hours in heatwaves going back to at least the 80’s (earliest I can remember), well before renewables became a political talking point. And I have still never personally experienced one.

But either way loss of power is still loss of power.

I’m sure the people who have no power in FL aren’t sitting around thinking “well even though I don’t have power right now, at least it isn’t because of renewable energy” LOL

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Not wild fires, mismanagement, poor planning, building too far into BLM…

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

That’s a poor assumption, that because CA had power outages in the 80s before renewables became a political talking point, means the renewables have nothing to do with them today

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

steve — do you think it a fair assumption that the current power outages are cause of renewable energy sources?

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

No, just the same as I mentioned you can’t assume, because there were blackouts before the renewables, that now with renewables it’s not the problem

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

My post had nothing to do with with what I thought about renewables, just basic assumption logic

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Cav — guess ORob got you going with that one. And Cal does have like twice as many people as FLA. But we get the hurricanes too, which might explain why more outages.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Yeah, I usually don’t get into a tit for tat over state stuff which I find to be silly. But I know very little about CA’s renewable power and energy stuff. I was actually curious to see what basis in reality it had, and the fact that Florida has more power outages than CA and we have nearly twice the population was too funny to ignore, plus you know…zombies. LOL

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

The Cal power outages were just a way to conclude with the punishing finish of “the leftwing failures.” Any chance you get gotta take it. Guessing never thought you would research actual historic power outage numbers.

And as a FL guy I’m caught in the crossfire…. and couldn’t care less.

  71. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Steve is right. We have dozens of zombie related events every year that the democrats just won’t let us report on. It’s a well kept CA secret. Werewolves too…LMAO

  72. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

    Stang,

Rob takes pot shots at CA all the time, it doesn’t bother me. Everyone out here thinks Florida is a joke and where all the weird shyte happens. It’s the butt of most state jokes on talk radio, etc. It’s all stupid. I know not everything in Florida is Deliverance and people eating each other’s faces, lol.

But like I said, I’ve never really had any interest in our energy situation. The reality is it just doesn’t affect me. I guarantee all you guys in FL have had far more power outages than I’ve ever had. In the past 20 years, I can count on one hand the times I’ve lost power, and they were always because a transformer blew, usually from a car accident.

So people can politicize it however they want to, but like usual, the reality is a lot different than what people think.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Florida is pretty cool, but understand a running national joke for wacky shiot happening. Doesn’t seem to stop many millions from wanting to visit though. And they come back…. how bad could it be?

And Cal has a target on its back as well, but for a different reason. A symbol of liberal politics to right-wing folks.

  73. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Steve, I’m not making assumptions. I’m saying rolling blackouts have been around in CA since I was a kid which pre-dates renewables being politicized.

I don’t know if renewables are the reason today. I know I’ve seen the assumption that renewables are the reason on this board. But I also know that we have a massive population, and energy grids, energy storage vs projected usage, etc are probably a lot more complicated than the simple political rhetoric of “its cause of renewables”

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I freely admit, I don’t know much about our power grid. I can’t tell you what percentage of our power comes from renewables vs traditional. I know the bay area is where the rolling blackouts occasionally occur- like once or twice a year maybe. I believe it’s because of population density, because we don’t experience it here in Sacto where we are more spread out.

    • D's avatar D says:

I agree, you have a severe population issue, can we just terminate a few million from the LA area to get that shit under control already?

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Take a few million from the bay area as well, lol.

Rob say people are leaving CA for FL. I say move them there at a faster rate. I’ll be leaving CA when I retire, mostly because I want to be somewhere with less people.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Import a truckload of Florida zombies….. that would be a start.

  74. D's avatar D says:

Another way to approach it would be to remove any restrictions of players going straight to the professional level, keep college “payment” as payment for the college education and/or experience and training they get at a semi-pro level. They could create semi-pro leagues for those that wish to bypass college or only attend one year so they at least get an opportunity to see if that’s the right fit for them. They can begin to earn faster, in a semi-pro level, much as they would get from college, and upon completion of that they can gain access to the pro’s. They earn money faster, they get endorsements, etc faster, they get the training needed to make a career, and they don’t get dropped into a meat grinder at 18-19.

Still I’m in 100% agreement with Ken that no matter how ya do it, you significantly hurt college sports, and the player potentially, and in most cases. Some kids don’t benefit at all from an education, or the 3 years they are required to attend, but a lot do i am sure it will open things up for very poor decisions by people doing a money grab. The act of truly paying a player to play is also going to destroy it, because colleges like UF with their Gatorade money will buy up all the top players. Now since that is my school, oh well that’s how it will be but i do think it would kill competitive spirit of the college ranks and i think its just now kind of getting good with some of the top players opting for immediate starts at smaller programs and that bridging the divide between the haves and have nots.

you had rolling blackouts all over the state last aug due to peak demands that renewable energy couldn’t meet. renewable energy is not reliable otherwise it would be everyone’s sole energy source.

It’s rather typical for people that only see things through a political lens to get things completely wrong.

Have you read the side-effects and contraindications on your ADHD medication and what is the underlying cause that it is healing you from? Another huge disparity in our understanding of health and wellness.

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

      Reefer Madness lives on.

    • D's avatar D says:

Well I’m just glad you didn’t take it personal because tit for tats can come off that way, ill start with that.

I’m not fond of the ADHD medicines either but they make a hell of a difference in the ability of my kid, especially to maintain focus. Its an odd treatment but is rooted pretty deeply in science.

You may understand this but im going to just run over it quickly.,

You have neurotransmitters for different brain transmissions and they work like a lock and a key, these receivers are shaped specifically for each type of transmitted neuron. With an ADHD person they have neurons for short term to long term memory, maybe calming effects for anxiety, mental focus, etc and on an ADHD person their transmitter doesn’t always send the properly formed neuron meaning it doesn’t fit in the receiver. This could prevent the calming signal or the short term to long term memory storage of “pick up bread on way home from work”. This happens to all people but if the release of 80 transmissions of a normal person, related to reception of 75 then the person is probably going to remember get bread. If however its like the ADHD brain and a larger percentage of those fails to “connect” then you get a lesser likelihood to get bread.

The medicine works by transmitting even more signals for every such function so year you still only get maybe 35% of them to connect, that 35% is closer to 80 than previously. You needed 70 to connect just to pass to long term, you got 35% of 80 before, now you got 35% of 250. See what i mean? Is it potentially bad? Hell yes, so that’s why ya got through several iterations of testing and follow ups and coming back every three months to discuss any side effects.

The problem is, there is no other method for replicating the success of the medicine and that very specific treatment. Pot actually completely makes ADHD worse, as the problem is that an ADHD mind is very much like a person who has smoked week, when its not active. The ADHD will shut off regions of the brain and this can be seen on CT specific CT scans that show brain activity. Pot does this to an active brain, some parts of the brain shut down (not permanently, I’m not accusing pot of permanent drug damage, that’s for a different discussion lol).

I have done a ton of research and had Physicians explain it to me, but i don’t really consider the use of another drug and its negative effects to show positive effects of others. I do think in therapeutic manners, Pot is a very good drug, i see benefits from it, and yes ADHD has some negative to its treatment, and its actually more a therapy than cure or beneficial medicine as well, my comment was more to the fact that i dont think that arguments against pot are unfounded, but i also think that, and most physicians will tell you that ADHD meds aren’t a guaranteed of anything there is lots of trial and error but if you find the right one that matches up to your specific mix of issues causing you ADHD, it can be successful. It has been very successful with my kid, and kind of meh with me.

Ok sorry i was wrong it wasn’t brief at all lol.

I have aleady put out a sound reason for those that are sensitive to chemical/metabolic imbalances due to diet.

Also, could you not “see” or explore the idea that the chemistry (food, pot, etc) might impact/close the receptors available to function more properly.

I am not a big fan of the allopathic model toward health and wellness. It principally treats symptoms and rarely addresses cause and you have laid out.

It’s not a fight Mf13, trust me. I will ask you again and maybe you will respond. Why is he the only openly admitted gay player in the NFL? Lol, i thought there was someone else at one time. No one cares so why is it about publicity?

I’m also ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ so really don’t care.

Mostly, it’s about awareness and acceptance. I try to learn something everyday and I don’t care who I learn it from.

Krishna, read this and get back to me. WHY is it such a BIG deal?

It is a big deal because in the history of the NFL there has never been an openly gay player on a game day roster. That is nearly 100 year history. Why hasn’t there been an openly gay player on a roster until now. If there is such acceptance then why just one in 100 years?

Seriously, who really gives a funk about a certain person’s sexual preference? That’s SO Hollywood.

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

On one hand I agree with you a M13 a person’s sexuality should not be an issue but historically it is a huge issue. Homosexuality has been shunned for centuries. We have made strides in acceptance. And while I am not gay I have several friends that are and my general feeling is who the hell am or anyone for the matter to say who another person can love?

      • olddolphan's avatar olddolphan says:

WELL, KEN, you certainly can NOT openly love a Jets’ fan, RIGHT??
SO, there is that. REALLY OUT!!

Then you should agree with me with BOTH hands. You’re speaking “historically”, and today is a new day. NO MORE DISCRIMINATION, PERIOD, and it’s been that way for a time.

Simply put, I do not care (nor does the general public) if one is homosexual. It’s kind of like beating a dead horse, if you will. It’s played out, and nobody really cares anymore, being our society has become very accepting.

What if Dan Marino comes out as gay? I DON’T CARE! It doesn’t affect me — nor should it — when everyone should be able to live the life they choose (within reason, of course).

    • Ken's avatar Ken says:

I wish we can say there is no more discrimination but you know that is far from the case and that is why it is an issue and a big deal

      • Ken's avatar Ken says:

And if it doesn’t affect you why do care if Nasib has openly come out?

      • Marinofan13's avatar Marinofan13 says:

Fair point, and those who wield the real power are the ones who promote such hatred. Look no further than Joe Biden (racist mofo).
