Dolphins very active before the 2021 NFL Draft

The first big mover was actually a subtraction from the roster as the Dolphins parted ways with LB Kyle Van Noy after recently (last season) signing him to a 4YR/$51M deal. That move was followed by the eventual trade between the Dolphins and the Texans which sent DE Shaq Lawson to HOU for ILB Benardrick McKinney. The Dolphins gave the Texans our 6th RD 2021 pick in exchange for their 2021 7th RD pick. Lawson played both OLB and DE for the Dolphins last season but never really hit his stride in our defense. Van Noy was brought here for his leadership and his playmaking, but the surprising rise of OLB Andrew Van Ginkel helped make Van Noy expendable. While AVG played mostly weak side and and Van Noy played primarily strong, both were interchangeable. I’m guessing the new #55 will undergo a uniform number change as the Eagles would say Ol’ 55, Jerome Baker owns that number. McKinney will definitely solidify the middle next to Baker and and the bigger (6’4 260) McKinney brings more physicality there while Baker brings the sideline to sideline quickness and speed.

In addition to McKinney, the Dolphins further solidified the run defense with the addition of DT Adam Butler. Butler was a rotational guy on the Patriots defensive line with only 12 starts in 4 seasons but he played in all but one game, and he averaged about 45% of the defensive snaps, so he had a good amount of playing time. He’s a DT that gets good penetration, with 20 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and 22 QB hits over parts of 4 NFL seasons. Unfortunately for former Dolphins DT Davon Godchaux, that most likely seals his fate and he most likely will not be returning here. (Update!) Godchaux has signed a 2 year deal with the Patriots, thanks to a couple of FMU NFL insiders.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Dolphins signed RB Malcolm Brown from the LA Rams. Brown while never a premier ballcarrier or workhorse, he brings a more physical running style than what we currently have in Myles Gaskin, Salvon Ahmed and Patrick Laird. Brown was basically the 3rd cog in the Rams run game behind Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson. Brown had a career high 419 yards on 101 carries with a 4.1YPC. He also caught 23 balls for 162 yards and had 5 rushing TD’s. I believe this still leaves the door wide open to draft a RB, even an early pick as I think we still need a talent upgrade there. The Dolphins just recently signed former Texans WR Will Fuller to a 1 year deal. Honestly, I never wanted any part of Fuller because although he has the speed we need, he’s a guy that has a tough time staying on the field, and considering the fact that we already have that in DeVante Parker, that doesn’t give our young QB any kind of stability when guys are constantly missing time. In any case, the Dolphins do get a guy who averages on the high end of YPR (14.9) overall but a career high 16.7YPR last season along with 8 TD’s. Also keep in mind that both Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson are set to return this season after opting out due to COVID last season. Wilson and Hurns together count less than $8M against the cap so don’t count them out just yet.

We didn’t get Joe Thuney, David Andrews or even re-sign Ted Karras, so the Dolphins decided to gamble on former ravens C Matt Skura. Much like Fuller was to me, Skura wasn’t really on my radar. Skura was a 4 year started for a stout Ravens O-line, but he has had injury issues, most recently having a devastating injury 11/19 in which he tore just about anything and everything in his knee including his ACL/PCL/MCL and dislocating his knee cap. To Skura’s credit, he toughed it out last season starting 12 games and playing in 15. As to whether he’s an upgrade over Ted Karras remains to be seen, but Skura was definitely the less expensive option. It’s once again, possible we draft a center with Creed Humphrey, Landon Dickerson Josh Myers, and Trey Smith available. Dickerson and Humphrey could go as early as 2nd RD but the others should be available in the middle rounds.

There are rumors still swirling linking former Seahawks RB Chris Carson and the Dolphins. While I have no problem with bringing in Carson, in my mind at least it would have made the signing of Malcolm Brown unnecessary, but Brown at $1.75M hardly breaks the bank. If we do get Chris Carson, that would almost certainly turn our attention away from drafting a RB early in this draft, meaning no Najee Harris, Javonte Williams or Travis Etienne.

GO DOLPHINS!!!!

Former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell has moved to dismiss Dominion’s defamation lawsuit. She argues that when she accused the election systems company of being part of an election-rigging scheme with ties to Venezuela, “no reasonable person would conclude” those “were truly statements of fact”

Too funny. She put this out in front of every microphone she could find. Guess this is the Alex Jones “just an entertainer” defense.

They have the evidence the machines were used to cheat. Not sure what evidence they have on Dominion

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Whatever the case, the prime accuser of Dominion as being a lead in the election machine rigging just put out that no reasonable person should have believed her.

You’d think if she had the evidence on that she’d claimed over and over before that she had would have chosen a different defense.

      • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

The person who claims that now admits that no one could have taken that seriously – her sworn court papers say that

It’s not viable by any stretch now to suggest that’s there evidence to support what Powell said, when she is literally saying, you should have laughed when I said that instead of taking me seriously.

It’s worth nothing that Powell is one of the attorneys the trump legal team went out to distance themselves from

But nonetheless, she threw a lot of poop at the walls that was regurgitated by other talking heads and makes up what a lot of people believed then and/or believe now

A lot of,people got taken for a ride while she was getting rich

One year for Fuller doesn’t mean much. He’s on the team in 2021. We can always draft a WR in 2022. Pitts as a rare talent is a possibility though as we all discussed last night. That #3 pick is going to be very valuable.

NC? ACC? Hmmmm…..not exactly SEC or Big Ten. Mack Brown loved and platooned off Ricky Williams. That was at Texas and Big 12. It’s a small conference, imo.
    ———————-
Honestly, I wanted to write Javonte Williams off, being he was probably just another ACC RB. Now keep in mind, I’m usually watching ACC games on a Saturday afternoon… but COVID this year.

This past NCAA season (again, COVID) is probably the least I’ve watched college football in over a decade. Anyway… now you know why I didn’t watch much college football this past year.

When I put on Javonte’s tape (thanks to the suggestion of BBM, coupled with how high so many pundits had him), I was DAZZLED! Can’t hold it against him, being he was an ACC runner… and that’s something that’s hard to fight off, being there are BEASTS in the SEC, against BEAST competition.

  22. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

So we’ve now got 12 (TWELVE!) WRs signed to our roster, and it’s over a month before Draft day. Clearly, we want a MAJOR competition at the position, so as to light fires under asses. Aside from that, I can’t read the tea leaves as it pertains to our Draft.

  23. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

We’ve now reached the “KYLE PITTS IS THE GREATEST” point of this Draft season, presented to you by the media. Next week, it will be somebody else. And the week after, somebody else.

I’ve gone through this so very many times throughout the many years… it’s tiring. I’m tired of the media dictating our thoughts. I appreciate independent thought(!), not some whimsical nonsense being presented/spewed to us daily by the national media… especially the one who thought we needed to draft a Center because Mike Pouncey recently retired!

i don’t think you spend #3 on a T.E. you either consider compensation for the pick or spend that pick on a qb, LT or elite pass rusher
he will probably go top 10, you may still trade back and get him.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I agree take a shot of him going 8th, because you have 5 guys counting Sewell,, that will work with the 1st pick. Parsons would also be OK with 1st pick.

      I also don’t consider him a TE, so…

    • Mike E.'s avatar Mike E. says:

Cowherd is so oversimplifying the situation. What he should be saying is Ryan Fitzpatrick who had been in that offense for 2 seasons, and the league for 16 years ran the offense better than Tua. No shit! It’s OK for Fitzpatrick to get 16 years experience to be at this point but Tua gets only 10 games? He would have been saying the very same shit about Fitzpatrick in his first 3 seasons. That’s the problem. Can we let a QB develop, especially after playing a season with no training camp or preseason? It’s ridiculous and this idiocy needs to stop!

Cap now at 10.582m under, with Foster being added, but don’t see anyone else added, since we were 12m under. Foster is listed at costing only around 200k net.

Our top 51 on over the cap has maybe 4 guys I see, that might be cut, Foster, Pandey, Wiltz and Munson, but 4 guys likely to stick below 51, Ferguson, Bowden, Scarlett, and Jones.

Tough decisions ahead for the coaching staff, at least 5 guys we’re used to seeing will be cut

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Wrong Scarlett, it was Jordan, that was under, so 3 and not 4 under the top 51

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

7 WRs listed in the top 51, so 2 of those including Foster may be gone. With Foster and Hollins we currently have 9 WRs that each have a chance to make the roster, add in a drafted one to make it 10

  28. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

Something has got to give, Hollins could make it on STs alone, so I believe we keep 6 WRs, and try to trade off 4 of them, Grant, Hurns, Bowden and Foster, if he shows in preseason. Perry not included in the 10.

    Parker
    Fuller
    Williams
    Wilson

Tua had 93 yards passing against the Rams, 83 against denver, 94 against raiders, 145 against NE & 169 against the chargers for an average of 116.8 yards per game, he had a terrible game against Buffalo, played catch up against KC, arz & cincy were the only half way decent games that he had.

Part of why we got Isaiah Wilson on the cheap. And that 140 wasn’t on an interstate.
    ————————————–
According to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Department, the pursuit of Wilson began at about 3:50 a.m. on Jan. 7, when Officer Stephen Kinney observed a dark-colored Dodge Charger with Tennessee license plates fly past him traveling eastward on University Parkway. Activating his radar, Kinney clocked the vehicle going 123 miles per hour, then activated his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to catch the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop.

Kinney began to catch up to the vehicle before he noticed it accelerating away, and he advised his dispatch office that speeds of the chase had reached 140 miles per hour. The original responding officer stopped his pursuit because of the high speeds the car was traveling at.

The car was eventually discovered crashed on the side of the road by an undercover ICE agent, who held the occupants, one of which was Wilson [the driver], at gunpoint.

But yeah I believe the Fake media, or at least see it as an info starting point. And when you start talking about the “confiscation of all guns” is just a different reality for me. I’ve read the Supreme Court opinions. Check out DC v Heller. Makes clear what can and cannot be done.

And not in favor of the cartels at all, but not like they formed since January. Trump used to talk about “the Coyotes” all the time. By that he meant the cartels.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

It’s not about who passes the bill, it’s about what’s in the covid bill.

Straight up question, are you OK with all the fluff in the covid bills? All of them had fluff this one more than the others.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Truthfully don’t know what fluff was in the bill I should or should not be against. Do know it got us to 2k in direct payments and Trump was for that, even going against the GOP guys in the Senate. to try and get it.

What did you see as fluff? And understand the bill had a lot of other projects rolled in….. but that is business as usual on the Hill.

      • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

All the other projects that are rolled in is the fluff. Why is it OK for Pelosi’s museum to get money and all of these stupid overseas projects to get money? Why can’t the bill just be covid relief?

This is my problem with our govt, its swampy from both sides, they get kickbacks from these foreign countries, that’s why they send them money.

These career politicians that steal our tax dollars to benefit themselves isn’t ok. That’s why Trump has so many loyal followers, because he was fighting this corruption. It’s also why they opposed him at every turn, because he was taking away the hand that was feeding them, at least he tried to.

When I see someone that’s opposed to Trump I think they’re either corrupt politicians, corrupt indirectly like the media, and those that are naive or just don’t care about all the corruption.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

It does look higher, maybe he’s working on that. The question will be can he keep his accuracy?

He doesn’t need to change his rollout mechanics, just in the pocket, and should continue using different deliveries, based on the situation.

I had to change my throwing motion for softball. My natural motion was side arm. Couldn’t get the velocity, so I changed it to over the top. Wasn’t really a big deal, just had to force myself to do it, until it became habit

I’ve been seeing a trend in recent mock drafts (say, the last two weeks)… including from Mel Diaper Jr’s new one today: Najee Harris to the Bills @ R1P30.

I know, I know… don’t worry about what other teams do, I get it. But still, if that doesn’t scare ya, I don’t know what will.

As one who knows a great deal about the Stealers*, their moves in FA no longer necessitate taking a RB in round 1. They’ve got to protect Big Ben and any RB they acquire, and find someone to replace Bud Dupree (opposite TJ Watt). Their plans have changed due to FA fallout.

To make a long story short, I don’t think we need to hop in front of the Stealers* (R1P24) to get the RB of our choice… we need to hop in front of the Bills (R1P30). We may have gained some breathing room.

AGAIN, I do NOT want to be in the predicament we’ve been in for many years… not being able to get one of the top RBs. Once the run starts, we’d better be ready to trade up, or just be the one to take the first RB off the board.

Thus, I’m seeing the run on RBs start late in the 1st round, just as last year. And just my opinion… I think R1P18 is too early to select either of Najee or Javonte.

If we trade down from R1P3, we’ll gain the ammo to trade back up into the late first round to get the RB of our choice.

    • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

      Example…

      R1P(top-10): BPA
      R1P18: EDGE
      R1P(late-20s): Najee or Javonte

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

TBH, this is the same principle I’ve been going with since late January… only we shouldn’t need to hop in front of the Stealers*.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

As for “don’t worry about what other teams do”, you can look at like there is nothing you can do to stop them from making their pick. The Bills are a very good team, the idea is to get on their level.

If you fear Najee Harris going to BUF that much, then why is #18 too early? Teams follow their boards and draft the prospect they like. It all depends on where we have him graded just like every other prospect.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I’m a ‘nit-picker’, trying to get the very best value out of our picks, that’s all. Najee @ R1P18 would be acceptable to me, but I’d feel as though I left too much talent on the board, knowing the run on RBs will naturally come a bit later.

We need an EDGE in the worst way, IMO. I’d advise taking one @ R1P18, were elite is still on the board. If we can move up and down as I suggest, we can ALSO get Najee.

Can’t recall the last time we’ve had this much leverage in a Draft. We can make whatever happen, if we so wish.

  47. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Just remember last year there were no early trades and the top three QBs were selected as they were available – Burrow #1, Tua #5 and Herbert #6. It’s easier said then done to trade down from #3. The price is usually too much.

What do we think will happen first 3 picks including a team wanting to trade up?
    1. JAX Trevor Lawrence
    2. NYJ ?
    3. MIA ? (what team is trading up for who?)

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I’m hoping the Jest don’t trade back, but select a QB instead. Then I can see Carolina or Detroit trading up to select a QB at 3.

Detroit needs a QB (assuming they don’t see Goff as their answer) and they pick right before Carolina, so those two teams hopefully will be vying for that #3 QB.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

San Fran also needs a QB, but they are at 12, so not sure they will be in the hunt if teams do start competing for that higher slot.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Kong, do you think the other QBs are worth the cost that it will be to trade up based on past trades? I’m not sure that they are.

The Jets are looking to run the 49ers offense which is run, run and play-action. They might take Penei Sewell and have those two big bookend tackles with Mekhi Becton for years to come. Then there were are at #3.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I have no idea if they are worth it or not. I don’t get into evaluation, and it doesn’t matter what I think anyway, lol.

If a team sees one of those QBs as a franchise QB, then there is a possibility they try to trade up to get him. We see it happen some years, and not in others. From what I’ve read, there are 3 QBs who might be worth making a move for. I’m hoping we are the team that can capitalize on that.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

I won’t consider it a huge loss if we can’t or don’t trade down. If we stay at #3, we still get a top tier talent. but trading down to #8 and picking up another #1 next year and an extra pick or two in day two this year would be oh so sweet.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

If the Jest take Sewell instead of a QB, then I can see no one trading to #3 pretty easily, because it’s likely the next QB isn’t taken until #7 with Detroit. So even if the Niners look to trade up, there is no reason to jump all the way to #3.

  48. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

M13, be prepared to select prospects on your board with your slotted picks and be open to trade possibilities if they’re available. But it takes two to Tango. It’s pretty hard to screw up #3, #18, #36 and #50. Then also have a 3rd and 4th.

He’s in his 4th season/5th year option decision. They don’t have to give him his 5th year option but can still roll with him and then evaluate his season. If he does well he gets one of those big contracts in 2022.

    • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

The Jets have a lot of draft capital to build around Sam Darnold and then revisit the position in 2022. That’s why I think they’re going to take Sewell. Safe pick in most people’s opinion and they have another 1st, a 2nd and two 3rd’s. They also have two 1st rd picks next year.

I think they are going to be a much better team this year. The AFC East is going to be tough.

      • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Completely agreed about the AFC east and the jest being better. Legitimately might be the best division in the NFL next year.

  50. Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

    Swap of #3 with 7, 8 or 12.

So are we talking a 2021 2nd and 5th and a 2022 1st and 3rd or something like that at a minimum? I’m playing it conservatively and it’s still expensive.

The lower the pick the more the price goes up.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

One thing for sure is no one will get Dion Jordan trade up value.

    • CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Conservative is probably the way to go. I’d be willing to bet if we do trade down, we won’t get what the chart says we should, and that is ok with me. I’d take phelon’s trade above even though that may not be top value for #3.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

  66. New Age's avatar New Age says:

Brisset has played 49 NFL games and has 6000 yards, and 31 TDs. That’s kinda terrible isn’t it? By the standards used for Tua being terrible, that’s terrible for a 5 year vet.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

not sure what his stats are, stats don’t tell the true picture, brisett started in ne so there’s familiarity with this coaching staff. he has a good throwing motion and has been a starter in this league. i would say he’s just as good as fitz if not better.
he’ll certainly be better than tua.

  67. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

our offense will struggle with tua at the helm, dc’s will crowd the field on him, they will make him beat them deep as that’s his weakness, they will try to take away the the run game and short routes and get in his face.
being that he’s so short and has a low delivery, if he doesn’t get rid of the ball right away he’s toast.

i don’t see him fixing that low delivery.

  68. ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

look at brisetts throwing motion, see how high the ball is over his head, tua doesnt get the ball above his head, that’s why he struggles to find the deep wr, he has to hold the ball too long, by that time these tall dl are blocking his path to throw the ball and he gets stuck then sacked.

  69. New Age's avatar New Age says:

    ORob,

But he’s not better than Tua. He was the full time starter at Indy twice and they let him go. 32 teams this year passed on the chance to make him their starter. If we wanted that, Fitz is a much, much better QB than Brisset. Yet we let him go.

I’m not saying Tua is amazing or will be. Brisset is no better than current Tua based off 5 years of data. Tua is the starter. Brisset goes back to doing what he does best, sit the bench.

    • ocalarob's avatar ocalarob says:

i hope you’re right, because we are headed for tua as our starter, i may be wrong about him, i’m just going by what i saw last season, the games he couldn’t break 100 yards passing in when we needed to make the play offs.

    “Miami’s grade: F

    Tennessee’s grade: D

A wretched mess. Three days after officially acquiring the flat-lining first-rounder, Miami released Wilson to the wind. It didn’t take the Dolphins long to realize what Tennessee learned through his painfully ponderous rookie campaign: Wilson doesn’t appear enamored with the concept of a career in the National Football League. I’m giving the Titans a “D” because they score no points for completely botching last year’s chance at a first-round talent.” – NFL.com

Giving us an F is about right, but what if we had traded for a 3rd or 5th straight up? Would that be a double F?

Now the real U75 part, Houston gets a D in this trade, because of botching the pick last year? What an FN maroon! Last year’s pick has nothing to do with this trade. Houston got what they could for nothing.

And most trades are probably C

Randy Moss to the Patriots was A + Patriots, F Raiders

I think you are underestimating the value of hitting the bullseye with a blindfold on and your back turned away from the target, throwing between the legs – which can only happen in 2021 and cannot happen in 2022

    😜

That’s what we gave up in the trade. A long shot this year for a long shot next year…..

    How will we ever recover

Parsons has some freaking catchers mitts for hands. 11″ hands. I think that is the biggest I can recall ever seeing in evaluations.

He was definitely hurt being released.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Can’t blame him for that at all, but also ironic that the evil genius is the one with the rep for trading away players for max value when he sees a slight downturn in play. But can’t blame him for that either.

      • Tim Knight's avatar Tim Knight says:

Belichick didn’t trade Van Noy to us though.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Nope he didn’t. Was just talking about how the release went down. Belichick would do the same kind of move in a second. Just ask Richard Seymour.

  80. CavalierKong's avatar CavalierKong says:

Three or four players chose the Pets over us this year and Van Noy is singing hymns to belicheat because he’s butthurt. I picked them to be an improved team and vie for a playoff spot, but it sure would be nice if they crash and burn this year.

Another bad year will likely mean Belicheat will have to coach longer than any HC ever has to beat Shula’s record, and Shula might take the lead again in all time winning percentage. There is a lot of legacy riding on the Pets performance over the next few years.

Kyle Crabbs aand NFL.com on the trade for McKinney’
    ————————-
    Benardrick McKinney Trade

    Terms:
Dolphins receive LB Benardrick McKinney & 2021 7th-round selection
Texans receive DE Shaq Lawson & 2021 6th-round selection

    “Houston’s grade: C
    Miami’s grade: B

A former Pro Bowler, McKinney wanted out of Houston and got his wish. He missed all but four games a year ago due to a shoulder surgery, but looms as a plug-and-play starter for Miami beside Jerome Baker at inside linebacker. Houston dumps his $28.5 million salary through 2023 in exchange for Lawson, an enticing first-round athlete yet to fully realize his promise. The Dolphins have landed a proven asset; the Texans are hoping Lawson’s best stuff is still to come.” – NFL.com

If McKinney is able to recapture his prior form as a player, this may end up being an even bigger win for the Dolphins. Both players give you the feeling that they are what they are at this point in their careers. Lawson plays the more valuable position. But McKinney is the better player.

Phelon — here’s what a guy was arrested with in the bathroom of an Atlanta Publix today. Did he have all the food groups covered?

    • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

I heard about this douche. Hate assholes who need to prove something. Someone should have double tapped him and claimed self defense. He was sorely under-ammo’ed tho.

      • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

And not in the picture is the body armor. Given that he was arrested without a shot, my guess is either he lost his nerve or wasn’t the kind of “hunting” scenario he had in mind when the cops were knocking at the bathroom door.

      • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Chances are he was a, “Ya cain’t take muh guns.” wannabe operator with a little dick.

    • Rhino's avatar Rhino says:

interesting read … with a lot of these guys there seems to be a consensus of “over drafted” on the day they were drafted. Parsons has been a top five prospect from the get-go and only dropped with the concerns that he was a mean 18 year old. lol He’s still a top five prospect as far as I’m concerned.

      • pheloniusphish's avatar pheloniusphish says:

Yah, I think so too but I’m not going to get excited about workout numbers. Draft is still a crapshoot no matter the workout or the number drafted.

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

I don’t see that happening, but I’d have him rerun the 40, seems like the clock operator is a Homer.

Parsons by himself getting the sub 4.4 doesn’t raise any red flags, it was the Oweh that ran 4.36

    • steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

We could use someone fast to chase down Josh Allen

  85. Rockphin's avatar Rockphin says:

    TEAM PICKS
    3: R1 P3 WR Ja’Marr Chase – LSU
    18: R1 P18 EDGE Quincy Roche – Miami
    36: R2 P4 RB Najee Harris – Alabama
    50: R2 P18 LB Zaven Collins – Tulsa
    81: R3 P17 C Josh Myers – Ohio State
    123: R4 P18 S Andre Cisco – Syracuse
    231: R7 P3 FB Ben Mason – Michigan
    258: R7 P30 TE John Bates – Boise State

  86. steveccnv's avatar steveccnv says:

With Parsons fast 40 time it could push someone else out of top 10

  87. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

I really hope these rumors about Parsons will be put to bed soon. The way I see it, he’s certainly in play for us if rumors/allegations are cleared. If not, I cannot see Steve Ross saying, ‘What the heck, what are the chances of a locker room bully causing nationwide shame to my organization?’.

And I crap you NOT, I was watching “Jeopardy!” shortly after Bullygate, and we were the punchline to one of the answers, complete with Richie Incognito’s name as the hint: “Who are the Miami Dolphins?”… Trebek said, “That’s right, choose again”.

Seriously, Ross won’t allow that to ever happen again on his watch. Parsons must either be cleared or vetted by somebody else who is in the know. LaVar Arrington (who I dearly respect) is not enough, IMO.

    • stangerx's avatar stangerx says:

Were still not taking Parsons at #3, but he is in the mix now after a trade down. And probably seals that he won’t be there at #18.

      • mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Totally agreed that we won’t take Parsons @ R1P3… actually, I can’t foresee us taking anybody @ R1P3. I 100% believe we’ll be trading down.

  89. mf13ss's avatar mf13ss says:

Just saw a mock draft that had the Cardinals taking Najee Harris @ R1P15. Explanation? Cardinals know that we’re going to be taking Najee @ R1P18, and they need an elite RB… thus, they’ll beat us to the punch.

That would suck in so many ways, being I don’t want to see a run on RBs come that early… and perhaps it won’t. The way I see it, NO WAY is Najee (or any other RB in this class) worthy of a mid-round 1st selection.

If it happens, it happens: so be it. But I think the Cards would be blowing their load in over-evaluating Najee (or Javonte).

    • The Flying Pig's avatar The Flying Pig says:

I am really am torn which with RB I like Najee it Javonte

If Harris goes before 18, I’m just targeting that early 2nd for javonte – it actually makes the decision easier in a way

We need to throw more passes Gesicki’s way. I think he’s underused in our offense. I think he can put up Kelce or Waller type numbers if we get him the damn ball more often.

I’m happy to see Logan Thomas do well. He has done what Tom Tebow should have done.
Tim Tebow honestly should have been the first Christian McCaffery. Logan tried hard to play QB in the NFL but at least finally decided he better do what will keep him in the league.

He has about a month to make all this mess go bye bye or he’s stuck in Houston forever.

He’ll wind up in Denver, you’ll see

  93. son of a son of a shula's avatar son of a son of a shula says:

Everyone knows I’ve been a big fan of Brissett but I will say the hang up with him is very similar to Tua and that’s making a quick decision to throw the damn ball. Brisket is never going to come in and do what Fitz did in the Oakland or Denver game.
One of them or both hopefully will figure it out. The ball has to come out.
